- 0:00The theme is ahavat Hashem and his idea of being da vek by
- 0:03Hashem, which we always open with the fact sounds so lofty to
- 0:07be to cling to Hashem. So that sounds like a heavy duty
- 0:10statement. What it really means is to clear
- 0:13out the rest of the world when it comes to your focus, to go as
- 0:17much as you can and there's something he's going on trying
- 0:19to clear out. Whatever it be stress, he's
- 0:22going to work, he's going on a family.
- 0:24When it comes to connection to the Hashem, it makes that
- 0:26connection way, way more powerful.
- 0:28Are you? A person could pray, I'm on the
- 0:31straight, but distracted and pray one solid prayer focused,
- 0:36and that solid prayer might be more powerful on his mind.
- 0:40And the connection may not be more of a mitzvah, but it's more
- 0:42connected an entire month. That's just how he says, he says
- 0:45like this. He's at Shem on 390 he says, and
- 0:51the 389 Rabbi's house, Amar mitchum Omega bin lakish bishali
- 0:58shanocha hiba. There are three terms of love.
- 1:02These are a bit different than the original 3 terms.
- 1:07Hashem loves us in three ways. Maru le Mehdi must explain them.
- 1:13But the bika bahashika O bahafiza and English, I mean
- 1:22cleaving to Hashem, cleaving to us, connection, yearning another
- 1:27word and delight, Hafizadeh's delight, behem mash and feh avai
- 1:34kalita. That is, those are three degrees
- 1:38of love. I know how chukash is the heart
- 1:41via the vekut vahanaka vahonic that a person has with love.
- 1:46Listen to this point, it's very important.
- 1:47And that is the idea of abatashah, the idea that we love
- 1:51God connected. It's played out in three ways.
- 1:55One, we connect to him literally.
- 1:58We clear out the rest of the world.
- 2:00Because when there's something that you love, that's where
- 2:02you're targeted, right? Whatever it may be that you're
- 2:05focused on, because you're into it, you clear out everything
- 2:09else. I'll give you a random example.
- 2:10If you're going to a game, right, because you love that
- 2:13team, you're ignoring the fact that it's taking time.
- 2:18You're ignoring the fact that your whole week seems so busy
- 2:21and now you're, you're devoting 5 hours.
- 2:24You're doing that fast on the game, right?
- 2:27You're doing the fact that there's a big cost and all it is
- 2:30traffic. There's also areas of
- 2:32frustration. It's freezing cold outside,
- 2:35right? All those things go out the
- 2:37window in your mind because the connection and the interest is
- 2:43so strong and all you have is that focus and nothing else
- 2:46exists. In fact, after the fact, you
- 2:49find out and you realize, hey now I'm quite your time.
- 2:52Oh wow, the team lost was waste time.
- 2:54Oh my gosh, my bank feels emptier.
- 2:56All these things occur. Always let that answer the fact,
- 2:59but beforehand that's the one beauty about when you play these
- 3:02things out with Hashem. The one beauty is this is not a
- 3:05heavy duty statement, but it's a reality is that when you play
- 3:08out these concepts and they include God, there's all that
- 3:11that after the fact you have it may take further and more work
- 3:15to get to that. You know, Steelers level or
- 3:17whatever your team is, but once you get to that level with God,
- 3:21then let down is way less. Why?
- 3:24Because when it's a love of reality, the love is real or has
- 3:28a love of something that's kind of fake, especially if they lose
- 3:31the love is fake. That's why I haven't did a
- 3:33factor to 0 before. The fact is everything fine.
- 3:36That's the they could connection.
- 3:38Do they cool means focus in that sense.
- 3:40Hashika is yearning, yearning. He's looking forward.
- 3:45If a person has I think another example you have intercession
- 3:50coming. Was it session January 1417,
- 3:53right. It's almost two months from now,
- 3:57a month in a week, OK. And there have been people in
- 4:00their minds, I'm sure there have who have been thinking totally
- 4:04that time for the last last month already and they'll be
- 4:08next month constantly going to be thinking about that one time.
- 4:12But they're on that vacation. Not every minute is going to
- 4:15feel like you're absolutely got anything.
- 4:17There will be aspects that you are joy and cello, but it's like
- 4:20you feel like, I know I have this every time I, I, I look
- 4:22forward to the summer and the summer comes.
- 4:24Summer's awesome, but it's not awesome.
- 4:28There's always still a stress. There's still family things.
- 4:29There's still things going hard. It's not like you ain't got
- 4:32Anthem Labash. I remember last year I went to
- 4:34Israel for three days while I was there, as my father was
- 4:38yours. I said while I was there, I was
- 4:41like, OK, you know, I'm walking around.
- 4:43I remember my mind thinking I should remember in America that,
- 4:47you know, this vacation, it's not crazy good.
- 4:51So next time I'm looking forward to something.
- 4:55Don't think that your whole life is predicated on what's going to
- 4:57be in that time because we look forward to something that they
- 5:00don't play out. But there is a concept called
- 5:02yearning. Yearning means looking forward.
- 5:05Yearning means being excited leading up to it playing up.
- 5:08Nothing wrong. There's nothing wrong at all.
- 5:10In fact, can't one can't, one can't wait.
- 5:12That's all right. In fact, it is actually a
- 5:15healthy thing to create some can't wait moments in your life
- 5:18and your schedule to make life go on.
- 5:20You do need can't wait. You need shabbats, you need
- 5:23holidays, you need trips, you need getting together with
- 5:27family. You need these things to keep
- 5:28you going. Absolutely, but they're based on
- 5:31this medab Yuri when it comes to God.
- 5:34We are working on getting to a degree.
- 5:36I'm the one we said focus and of A2 actually creating a yearning,
- 5:42which is a person looks forward to the holiday.
- 5:44Binoculars cause families get together, which is a great
- 5:46thing, but also because I feel special on the holiday.
- 5:50A person looks forward Hanukkah coming up because something
- 5:53about the holiday feels unique. Jelly Donuts.
- 5:55That's that's that's nice. I'm really hitting my mark, by
- 6:00the way. Really, you got a point.
- 6:07You look forward to Hanukkah, you look forward to the whole
- 6:09thing. And if there's a spiritual
- 6:10element to it and you're hitting the spot with yearning.
- 6:14When a person gets to a degree, they have classes that they go
- 6:17to. When you get to a level, when
- 6:19you look forward to the class, that's an important level.
- 6:23And that's really necessary to build our yearning of at Hashem
- 6:28yearning for a class, yearning for a Hai, yearning for the
- 6:32canoe Shah of Shabbat yurti, for all these other things are
- 6:37building up your Alva. And God has these same level and
- 6:40even stronger yearnings because God doesn't have any
- 6:42distractions. So yeah, it's a stronger
- 6:45yearning towing us. So it's a point that we're
- 6:48looking for. And the 3rd and most important
- 6:50one is delight. Delight is a word, the word that
- 6:55we use for Shabbat only Shabbat, all of his enjoyment while it's
- 6:59happened, while you living it. So we spoke about focus on the
- 7:04game, right? Or yearning to a vacation.
- 7:07Then there's the wallets going on.
- 7:09And I just said a lot of vacations happening.
- 7:11There are certain parts that are nice while a trip is going on,
- 7:14but it doesn't feel like on anything.
- 7:16You still have logistics, you still have one person was doing,
- 7:20you still have the weather, you still have things going on, you
- 7:22still have work, you still have bills.
- 7:26There's an element that lets you ignore half of life, and unless
- 7:31you are really tapped into the right situation or nick,
- 7:35enjoyment is not that simple To come by, to actually enjoy
- 7:40something in the moment, it actually takes a feat and it's a
- 7:44degree and it's a level. There are certain things that we
- 7:47all enjoy. There are certain aspects that
- 7:49are always all beautiful. That's great, the idea of tada,
- 7:53but so it is. It should be something that you
- 7:55focus on, something that you look forward to and Avant Hashem
- 8:00has to reach at certain points a level.
- 8:04And while you're doing them, you actually feel special.
- 8:07While you're sitting by a Shabbat table, are you talking,
- 8:11Are you talking about something that's a little bit elevated?
- 8:14Are you discussing life lessons maybe, or you're discussing to
- 8:17Panasha, or you're discussing how you want the future to look,
- 8:20whatever it may be. This is to be the most Uber
- 8:23spiritual thing, but something that's lofty.
- 8:24So there's elevated if you feel good during that time,
- 8:29beautiful, you hit it. Onic if you're sitting in a
- 8:31class like this one or any other class and it's hitting your
- 8:35brain and it's making you feel smarter or clearer or on the
- 8:38right track and you say, wow, something about this that feels
- 8:43kind of special. That's all of it.
- 8:45And that is ONIC. Or you're on a holiday, like we
- 8:48just say, and all these different things, sitting and
- 8:49learning, when you're praying, when you're doing history, when
- 8:52you give charity, all these different things that you do
- 8:54when you're giving someone advice or giving someone a Zook,
- 8:57all these aspects, if you do them and you feel good while
- 9:01it's going on, you are involved in onych and you are hitting the
- 9:04mark. You're literally striking at the
- 9:08center of the universe and at the center of mitzvoth, which is
- 9:10enjoyment while it's happening. So there's focus, which is
- 9:14clear, which takes work. There's yearning, which is
- 9:17supposed to come hopefully natural once you enjoy, and then
- 9:21there is enjoyment itself while it's happening.
- 9:23The enjoyment itself is the highest degree.
- 9:26The enjoyment itself is the most beautiful thing.
- 9:28And it's really literally the equivalent of a Ben O llama BA
- 9:33of living with God of all those aspects.
- 9:37Because the pinnacle of any relationship is the enjoyment
- 9:40together, and the pinnacle of any situation is the enjoyment
- 9:43of the moment. The pinnacle of our connection
- 9:46to God is the enjoyment together.
- 9:48That's the pinnacle. And when we have, OK, it's a
- 9:50headache, but I'll do it anyhow. You're connected not the same
- 9:54when it's you know it's take a guy going to be with his wife OK
- 9:57clear some people I have to do it I know it's my duty I have to
- 10:01do it all right. I don't have to push these off.
- 10:03I don't have the time and it's cold.
- 10:05I don't want to do it. I have to.
- 10:06You're doing the right thing. There's no enjoyment there.
- 10:09You focus, but still nothing happening and not much comes out
- 10:14of me either. Just she's happy for the moment.
- 10:17But if a person actually strikes the level of delight, which
- 10:23means while he's out to you with his wife, are you sitting there
- 10:28at the conversations going good and it's flowing and he feels
- 10:31like, you know, happy about the situation.
- 10:34That moment. I know they they they take work,
- 10:37but that moment when it hits that is the pinnacle of marriage
- 10:40doesn't mean that that's what we have all the time at all, but it
- 10:43does mean that those are the times that make the thing
- 10:46continue and those are the times that bring fuel to our
- 10:49relationships. And the same thing is true with
- 10:51God. If I have every single day is a
- 10:54headache when it comes to my todabits what and it never hit
- 10:58the point of a dream, It is a way harder to remain connected.
- 11:02But if I have certain aspects and become enjoyable, be them
- 11:06Shabbat, learning, pray, whatever it may be, if there are
- 11:10certain aspects to become enjoyable, then your
- 11:13relationship is way stronger. It's much more connected because
- 11:18when you like it, you want it. When you want it.
- 11:21This is where I'm living. The whole idea of people.
- 11:23Let's say a random example where people go nuts and they go out
- 11:28to the boondocks and they drink and party in craziness.
- 11:32They use this like, I feel like I'm living, I feel like I'm
- 11:34alive. All this terminology, right?
- 11:36What does it mean? They feel like they're alive.
- 11:38It's ridiculous because they don't realize that they're this
- 11:40close to dying, but they feel like they're alive because they
- 11:43feel free and they feel like they're hating what they enjoy.
- 11:46It's a a sick mindset told a very clear point, which is you
- 11:51want to feel alive and you feel alive when you're doing what you
- 11:54like. And when we get to a point that
- 11:57what we like and what is good is the same thing, that's the best
- 12:02thing possible. When a person can reach a level
- 12:04that they enjoy doing Hashem's will, that's the most beautiful
- 12:09thing in the world. And that will make you that much
- 12:11stronger. And then temptation goes down.
- 12:13Yeah, it's a harrah goes down and challenges go down because
- 12:16you are hating. The spark is the spot.
- 12:18You're literally at the center of the universe.
- 12:20You're right there with God. There's nothing else going on
- 12:22once you like it. The more we have a challenge
- 12:25with it, the disappoint distant we are.
- 12:27It's part of our job. Well, this the more we actually
- 12:30enjoy it. For example, the Torah is called
- 12:32the stop with this Torah is called Shah Shuai by toy.
- 12:38God refers to the Torah's game. How would you prefer to the
- 12:41Torah's game, and he referred to it as that is that a game is
- 12:45something that you do just for the sake of it, not because real
- 12:50enjoyable gaming, not because there's what are you losing
- 12:51involved just 'cause you're having fun, right?
- 12:54You have a game with somebody, they're being a little too much
- 12:56of A stickler about the score and you're like, come on, you're
- 12:58ruining the game because it's just a lot of having fun, right?
- 13:02Torah is supposed to be eventually.
- 13:05I'm not saying it's easy, but there are certain points of
- 13:08Torah. They're supposed to be that just
- 13:10having fun. That's how it go.
- 13:12Plus in the morning, right, just exactly offense in the morning,
- 13:15just having fun and that's the goal and that is our
- 13:18responsibility and that's our goal.
- 13:20And that's the you have a good time.
- 13:23You look forward to it, right? As a beautiful example, that's
- 13:26really the overall thing, right? That's exactly it.
- 13:29And even though waking up every morning is difficult, even
- 13:33though embracing the cold is annoying, finally parking is
- 13:36hard. All these are true.
- 13:39When you get to the spot and it's you and God you in the
- 13:43mitzvah, one-on-one you're hitting the spark.
- 13:45It's literally the same thing as a guy going out there with his
- 13:48wife and everything is clicking. When that moment happens, it
- 13:51feels right. The same thing is true and
- 13:53that's a good example when it comes to the all of it's 4th
- 13:56alone one-on-one and everything feels enjoyable and feels right
- 13:59and his strength is the relationship.
- 14:01So much more was up with this.
