- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. It is a Wednesday, which means
- 0:19Speaker 1: we got a lot going on today. Welcome to NFL Now,
- 0:21Speaker 1: NFL Network from our newsroom in Los Angeles. My name
- 0:24Speaker 1: is Andrew Siciliano. Coming up will preview the kickoff on
- 0:27Speaker 1: week number six, the Bears, the Commanders in Chicago. Also
- 0:31Speaker 1: will tell you why as of now, we do not
- 0:34Speaker 1: know when the Seahawks and the Cardinals will kick off
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon. We begin with Dallas and Dak Prescott's thong.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's going to be Cooper rush for the Cowboys Sunday
- 0:48Speaker 1: night in Philadelphia. Mike McCarthy pretty much made that clear
- 0:51Speaker 1: this afternoon. But this is an image from James Slater's
- 0:55Speaker 1: Twitter of Dak Prescott throwing left handed. Remember he's a
- 1:00Speaker 1: writing We didn't flip the negative here. Left handed in
- 1:03Speaker 1: the portion of practice open to the idiot today a
- 1:06Speaker 1: portunate practice. Hi there, Jane the McCarthy and said earlier
- 1:08Speaker 1: that Prescott would do some light throwing, but they didn't
- 1:11Speaker 1: let you and the media see him throw and see
- 1:16Speaker 1: how the ball came out of his hand with his
- 1:18Speaker 1: busted up right thumb. No, And it took me a
- 1:23Speaker 1: second to realize that Andrew because he was off to
- 1:26Speaker 1: the left side of where we stand in the media.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And then I turned to one of the media members,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I said, wait a minute, why is he throwing with
- 1:34Speaker 1: his left hand? And I think we all concluded that
- 1:37Speaker 1: there's a little gamesmanship here, yes, but also as he
- 1:40Speaker 1: starts throwing for the first time since the injury back
- 1:43Speaker 1: on September eleven, I don't think they want us necessarily
- 1:46Speaker 1: breaking down those throws, are making assumptions about where that
- 1:51Speaker 1: thumb is at or when he's going to play. It
- 1:53Speaker 1: certainly isn't as optimistic as Jerry Jones led us to believe.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It was Mike McCarthy today who said that they are
- 1:59Speaker 1: preparing to move forward with this game for Cooper Rush
- 2:03Speaker 1: being their starter. He said, look, this is a seventeen
- 2:06Speaker 1: game season and you've got to trust the medical process.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And ultimately he knows that Dak Prescott doesn't like hearing that,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but they just want to make sure that he's good
- 2:16Speaker 1: to go when he does come back. And by the way,
- 2:18Speaker 1: you've got a quarterback right now in Cooper Rush who's
- 2:21Speaker 1: now won four straight one on the road last week
- 2:24Speaker 1: against the defending Super Bowl champs. So we'll let you
- 2:27Speaker 1: know later this week if we get to see any
- 2:29Speaker 1: more of the throwing. But the throwing with the right
- 2:31Speaker 1: hands his throwing shoulder. Uh, that's not going to happen,
- 2:35Speaker 1: at least to us today because that was during the
- 2:38Speaker 1: close portion of media. All Right, Dak Prescott can throw
- 2:41Speaker 1: with his left hand, just likely shouldn't do it in
- 2:43Speaker 1: a game. He prefers his right and the right isn't
- 2:46Speaker 1: ready this week against Philadelphia. The next two weeks it's
- 2:49Speaker 1: the Bears, I'm sorry, the Lions and the Bears at
- 2:51Speaker 1: home before the bye. Thank you, Jane Slater live there
- 2:55Speaker 1: on the deck beat in Dallas. Let's get our insiders
- 2:58Speaker 1: in here, Mike Arrifolo, Ian Rappaport and get to the
- 3:00Speaker 1: story I was referring to either guys at the top
- 3:03Speaker 1: of the show. Is that is we still don't know
- 3:04Speaker 1: what time. I'm the Cardinals and Seahawks will kick off
- 3:08Speaker 1: on Sunday, and they're supposed to kick off at four Pacific.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry, one Pacific for Eastern, but that could change
- 3:16Speaker 1: because of baseball. Yeah, football actually moving out of the
- 3:20Speaker 1: way of baseball. Let's see that very often, and you
- 3:22Speaker 1: know a lot of snarchy responses. I guess Seattle is
- 3:24Speaker 1: a baseball talent. It's the playoff for a little different
- 3:27Speaker 1: Plus the stadiums are literally next door to each other.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So here's what's going on. The Seahawks game, which originally
- 3:33Speaker 1: schedules as you mentioned, for four pm Eastern time, is
- 3:36Speaker 1: going to be played an hour and a half later
- 3:38Speaker 1: five thirty Eastern time if there is a game four
- 3:42Speaker 1: of the a l DS, because you can't get into
- 3:45Speaker 1: a stadium with two games going on right around similar times,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and it just logistically can happen, So they would move
- 3:52Speaker 1: it back an hour and a half, which means that
- 3:53Speaker 1: game would overlap a little bit with some of the
- 3:56Speaker 1: late games and being kind of a weird window, and
- 3:58Speaker 1: then you wouldn't get to do it on red zone.
- 4:00Speaker 1: But whatever. I think we'd all be fine with that.
- 4:02Speaker 1: If there is no game for the LDS, then literally
- 4:06Speaker 1: nothing happens. It's back at four pm Pacific, all right,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and you might not know until maybe five o'clock local
- 4:12Speaker 1: on Saturday. Right now, the Astros one Game one, but
- 4:15Speaker 1: the Astros could win Game two, and then the Mariners
- 4:17Speaker 1: could went on some walk off in fifteen innings right
- 4:20Speaker 1: on Saturday night, and then they have to scramble. So
- 4:24Speaker 1: everyone is uh is waiting for the ms here and
- 4:27Speaker 1: the Giants Mike are waiting for their punter because he
- 4:31Speaker 1: was stuck in London for a couple of days. Yes,
- 4:35Speaker 1: the Scottish hammer, Uh, the Jamie Gillen stuck in London
- 4:40Speaker 1: because the passport issues. What I mean to laugh about it,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but it sounds like it's gonna have a reasonable ending
- 4:45Speaker 1: here and definitely a quick ending here, as all strings
- 4:48Speaker 1: that the Giants could pull we're pulled. And so Gillen
- 4:52Speaker 1: is going to be I love the music. This is fantastic.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Gilan is gonna be on his way back to the
- 4:57Speaker 1: United States after spending what three extra days in London
- 5:01Speaker 1: spending time with his family while he was killing time
- 5:04Speaker 1: while that passport issue was resolved. Now the Giants apparently
- 5:08Speaker 1: knew about this ahead of time. He had an old
- 5:10Speaker 1: passport and he never got an updated he came on. Uh.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I forget how Palicero explained that I was a NATO,
- 5:16Speaker 1: But the long and short of it, the NATO. I
- 5:18Speaker 1: felt like it was a NATO passport, but like off
- 5:20Speaker 1: the top of my head. That didn't sound right, but yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it's a NATO passport and so he was having issues
- 5:24Speaker 1: coming back, but they've been resolved. So the Giants will
- 5:27Speaker 1: have the Scottish hammer. That was the expectation. Now they
- 5:29Speaker 1: were supposed to work out punters anyway tomorrow, but he's
- 5:33Speaker 1: on his way back tonight, so that very well may
- 5:35Speaker 1: have been called off. But the long and short of
- 5:38Speaker 1: it is the Giants will have their punter. That is
- 5:40Speaker 1: the full expectation for Sunday's game against the Rate. We've
- 5:43Speaker 1: always heard, whether it's football, baseball, basketball, sometimes hockey passport
- 5:48Speaker 1: issues players leaving the US. I don't know that I
- 5:51Speaker 1: remember an issue where a player wasn't allowed back in
- 5:54Speaker 1: the country. So the Giants are dealing with now, but
- 5:56Speaker 1: help is on the way all right. In Baltimore, help
- 5:58Speaker 1: was on the way also, Mike, with some defensive injuries,
- 6:02Speaker 1: Guys that are getting back on the field, Guys that
- 6:05Speaker 1: are coming back from achilles tendon tears, David Ojabo and
- 6:09Speaker 1: Taias Bowser returning to practice for the Baltimore Ravens. Ojabo
- 6:14Speaker 1: remember tour his achilles unfortunately during a pro day. Now
- 6:17Speaker 1: he does have experience having played for Mike McDonald, the
- 6:20Speaker 1: defensive coordinator at Michigan. So the hope is that physically,
- 6:25Speaker 1: if he can get himself up to speed quickly, mentally,
- 6:27Speaker 1: he should be fine and ready to go and contribute
- 6:30Speaker 1: here at some point in his rookie season. Uh. And
- 6:33Speaker 1: as for Bower Bowser, he tore his achilles in the
- 6:35Speaker 1: last game of last season. So you know, this is
- 6:38Speaker 1: about the timeline that you would expect guys to be
- 6:41Speaker 1: coming back from achilles tendon tears. They are back on
- 6:43Speaker 1: the field. This is a defense that could use more
- 6:45Speaker 1: help and the ability to maybe get to the passer
- 6:48Speaker 1: or do whatever you need to do from the linebacker position. Well,
- 6:51Speaker 1: here you go, two guys on the way back. There
- 6:52Speaker 1: you go. Hey, Ian sneaky good game in Atlanta this Sunday,
- 6:56Speaker 1: forty Niners Falcons. What's Kyle Pitts status there for Arthur Smith, Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I would say a little bit of a surprise last
- 7:05Speaker 1: week when Kyle Pitts did not practice, did not play,
- 7:08Speaker 1: dealing with a hamstring injury. It sounds like he'd been
- 7:10Speaker 1: nagging him for a little bit, not like an injury,
- 7:13Speaker 1: but just kind of bothering him. Well, he was out
- 7:15Speaker 1: at practice today working with the first team. According to
- 7:18Speaker 1: Dear Orlando led better on the scene, which is good.
- 7:21Speaker 1: My understanding is this was expected to be just a
- 7:23Speaker 1: one week injury. So for Kyle Pitts to miss a game,
- 7:27Speaker 1: you know, all this discussion about why was he not
- 7:29Speaker 1: out of routes and why was he you know, being
- 7:31Speaker 1: held in as a blocker. Maybe this is why, maybe
- 7:33Speaker 1: he needed to get right a little bit. The week off.
- 7:36Speaker 1: They believe got him right, so it wouldn't be surprised
- 7:38Speaker 1: to see him back on the field this week. All right.
- 7:40Speaker 1: The Niners have a bunch of injuries as well. Try
- 7:42Speaker 1: to update them a little bit later as they are
- 7:43Speaker 1: spending the week in West Virginia rather than flying all
- 7:47Speaker 1: the way back west before turning around and going to Atlanta.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Thank you and thank you, Mike. They meet again Josh
- 7:55Speaker 1: Allen Patrick for Holmes and they go deep at such
- 8:00Speaker 1: a high level on the middle. It's Hills City tricks
- 8:04Speaker 1: to leave with minute to go down the middle to
- 8:06Speaker 1: the end, Zune and there it is. Wow, holy Mahomes
- 8:10Speaker 1: gets you hit an easy field goal ring. I mean,
- 8:12Speaker 1: this is unbelievable, forty nine yards to send it to overtime.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yes till he tells the call tales shoe right with
- 8:23Speaker 1: all that sun looking to the end song for the
- 8:27Speaker 1: whin he caught it. This is its unfathomable. The Bills
- 8:32Speaker 1: had gone this game and grass to cohomes, it comes
- 8:35Speaker 1: out there, It shows the world I'm still here. Romo's
- 8:40Speaker 1: voice is still this high after that game which many
- 8:44Speaker 1: of us thought was the best we had ever seen
- 8:46Speaker 1: last year when the Chiefs had overtime knocked the Bills
- 8:49Speaker 1: out of the playoffs. Look at these members Mahomes offensive
- 8:53Speaker 1: numbers there for the Chiefs, Von Miller and that defense
- 8:57Speaker 1: pretty pretty good. Sean McDermott. I just think, yes, they're
- 9:02Speaker 1: a really good team. Um. And you know they're they've
- 9:06Speaker 1: been there for a long time, you know, and you
- 9:08Speaker 1: re coached football teams win and they win often and
- 9:12Speaker 1: they sustain it and uh they're really tough at home. Um,
- 9:16Speaker 1: as we know, we've been out there a number of
- 9:18Speaker 1: times now. Um. You know they've got really a really
- 9:21Speaker 1: good roster as well, very deep, um talented players, playmakers
- 9:26Speaker 1: at a lot of the positions. As you saw Monday
- 9:29Speaker 1: night and m and you got to prepare for for
- 9:33Speaker 1: four quarters of football and sometimes longer, so really good opponent.
- 9:37Speaker 1: We have a lot of respect for them, um, you know.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So we'll have a practice today and get out there
- 9:44Speaker 1: and get ourselves ready to go and the big four
- 9:46Speaker 1: Eastern Times CBS window on Sunday, the game that we
- 9:50Speaker 1: have been waiting for. James Palmer is gonna be there.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Bucky Brooks. Good to see you, Bucky back with us
- 9:54Speaker 1: as well, James. It's the number two total defense in
- 9:57Speaker 1: the NFL here that Leslie Fraser has and that defense
- 10:01Speaker 1: is getting a little healthier, which would help against Patrick Mahomes.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It does, and it helps on your defensive line is healthy,
- 10:10Speaker 1: a spot that they've invested so much in Andrew and
- 10:13Speaker 1: they were dominant last week when they were all healthy
- 10:16Speaker 1: for the first time this season up front. And the Bills,
- 10:19Speaker 1: no matter who's been playing up there, don't really blitz
- 10:22Speaker 1: as a defense really at all. And we know what
- 10:25Speaker 1: happens if you do blitz Matt Patrick Mahomes, he usually
- 10:27Speaker 1: burns you. But they get pressure from the inside. They
- 10:29Speaker 1: get it from the outside from Gregor Russo or or
- 10:31Speaker 1: von Miller. And we saw on Monday night when the
- 10:34Speaker 1: Raiders didn't really blitz Patrick Mahomes early and they were
- 10:37Speaker 1: getting home with three. They were getting home with four,
- 10:39Speaker 1: and then Travis Kelsey's impact actually affected their pass rushers.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And we'll see if that does anything to the pass
- 10:45Speaker 1: rushers of the Bills on Sunday, because they started moving
- 10:48Speaker 1: Max Crosby outside of Patrick, outside of Travis Kelsey and
- 10:52Speaker 1: trying to chip him at the line of scrimmage. When
- 10:54Speaker 1: I when I talked to some of the guys Bucky
- 10:56Speaker 1: within the Chiefs, they were curious, going, why are you
- 10:58Speaker 1: moving these great pass rushers that were effective in the
- 11:00Speaker 1: first half farther away from our quarterback to try to
- 11:04Speaker 1: impact Travis Kelly. See, they just really didn't understand what
- 11:06Speaker 1: the Raiders were doing. We'll see what that defensive line
- 11:09Speaker 1: up front and the Bills decide to do to try
- 11:11Speaker 1: to slow down Travis Kelsey. But at the same time,
- 11:13Speaker 1: with all of them healthy, it's a little bit easier,
- 11:15Speaker 1: easier to go after Patrick Mahomes. You know, it's interesting
- 11:19Speaker 1: about the Buffalo Bills, and we can talk about their
- 11:21Speaker 1: defense because defense has to step up, but this is
- 11:23Speaker 1: a personal game for the Buffalo Bills, and I can
- 11:26Speaker 1: equate it to when I was with the Green Bay
- 11:27Speaker 1: Packers in the mid nineties and the Dallas Cowboys were
- 11:30Speaker 1: the bully on the block. It was an obsession to
- 11:33Speaker 1: finally knock them off and to get to that point.
- 11:35Speaker 1: But the Buffalo Bills have to be careful. They can't
- 11:38Speaker 1: try and knock out the KNA City Chiefs in the
- 11:40Speaker 1: first quarter. All that anxiety, all that anxiousness and enthusiasm
- 11:45Speaker 1: ready to get after it, it can wear them down.
- 11:47Speaker 1: This has to be a game where Sean mcderhay stands
- 11:50Speaker 1: up front of the team and says, slowly but surely,
- 11:52Speaker 1: we have the methodically knock out the champion, slowly but surely,
- 11:56Speaker 1: throwing jazz before we throw the hay maker. We cannot
- 11:59Speaker 1: try to knock him out in the first quarter. If
- 12:01Speaker 1: we do that, we're gonna punch ourselves out and the
- 12:03Speaker 1: kNN City Chiefs will come back and at them in
- 12:05Speaker 1: the end. This has to be a fool sixty minute
- 12:07Speaker 1: effort foot the Buffalo Bills to be able to get
- 12:09Speaker 1: this dub. I guess you can't see the absolutely and
- 12:12Speaker 1: let's go back to the chief side of thing here.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Things James Obviously, all this attention of Chris Jones after
- 12:18Speaker 1: you know, the rough and to passer call on Monday Night.
- 12:20Speaker 1: There are other guys on that defense, um, including number
- 12:24Speaker 1: thirty two, who is a pretty special guy. And Nick
- 12:27Speaker 1: Bolton should start getting some attention League y ander what
- 12:30Speaker 1: he's doing at the middle linebacker spot. He's tied for
- 12:32Speaker 1: ninth in the NFL and tackles, but nobody's sitting above
- 12:35Speaker 1: him on that list has more sacks or tackles for loss.
- 12:38Speaker 1: And they really believe he is a tackling machine. Andy
- 12:41Speaker 1: Reid said it after Monday night's game. He said, it
- 12:43Speaker 1: was just it was unbelievable. I don't think there's a
- 12:45Speaker 1: better tackler in the NFL than Nick Bolton and what
- 12:48Speaker 1: they've seen now in his second years, he runs this
- 12:51Speaker 1: entire defense. Is The coaching staff and I've talked to them,
- 12:53Speaker 1: believe he has a photographic memory. He sees things once,
- 12:56Speaker 1: recognizes them and then he's able to do it. And
- 12:59Speaker 1: they use that and he uses that for his anticipation
- 13:02Speaker 1: pre snap, where they believe he is very effective and sucky.
- 13:05Speaker 1: The reason I bring this up is you have to
- 13:07Speaker 1: have a shure tackler in the middle of the field
- 13:09Speaker 1: when you're going against Josh Allen and he starts to
- 13:11Speaker 1: carry the football He's led the Bills in rushing four
- 13:14Speaker 1: of their five games, and he is a big bodied
- 13:17Speaker 1: player that you're gonna try to take down. It might
- 13:20Speaker 1: be Nick Bolton. It's very important about what he sees
- 13:22Speaker 1: in Josh Allen carrying the football and his ability to
- 13:25Speaker 1: make tackles to where they don't have extended plays with
- 13:29Speaker 1: Josh Allen, which we've seen running. Yeah, that's a big
- 13:32Speaker 1: part of it, and I'm glad that you put a
- 13:33Speaker 1: little spotlight on Nick Bolton. He's been one of the
- 13:35Speaker 1: best players that we've seen on defense for the Kanna
- 13:38Speaker 1: City Chiefs and he probably deserved to go a little
- 13:40Speaker 1: higher in the draft when he came out. But for
- 13:42Speaker 1: the Kanna City Chiefs, their best defense might be their offense,
- 13:46Speaker 1: meaning Andy Reid has to maybe lean into the running game.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And I feel like I say this all the time,
- 13:52Speaker 1: but because they don't have the explosive element, it may
- 13:55Speaker 1: need to be a little more ball control because right now,
- 13:57Speaker 1: when you look at these teams, the Buffalo Bills are
- 14:00Speaker 1: the far more explosive offense. So that might mean a
- 14:03Speaker 1: little more running, a little more screen game, a little
- 14:07Speaker 1: more eight nine ten play drives to keep Josh Allen
- 14:11Speaker 1: and Company on the sideline, because as much as I
- 14:14Speaker 1: want to see your shootout for the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 14:16Speaker 1: they may not want to get in a shoot up
- 14:18Speaker 1: with this explosive Buffalo Bills team. This might be a
- 14:21Speaker 1: little different for Kansas City to play a little half
- 14:23Speaker 1: court basketball and instead of fast breaking like they normally
- 14:27Speaker 1: like to do against these teams. And going back to
- 14:29Speaker 1: Nick Bolton real quick for those who said, wait a minute,
- 14:31Speaker 1: he wears thirty two. Now, yes, he did switch his
- 14:33Speaker 1: number after Timer and Matthew left in the offseason. Nick
- 14:36Speaker 1: Bolton want to four Chiefs defenders with at least two sacks.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Thank you James, Thank you Bucky coming up next? Do
- 14:42Speaker 1: you like underdogs? Nick Shook does, And I'm not gonna
- 14:47Speaker 1: mess his name up next NFL Now, NFL that work,
- 14:57Speaker 1: getting ready for the Dolphins and the Vikings coming up
- 14:59Speaker 1: on Sunday, and getting ready for Skyler Thompson likely at quarterback.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But the good news is to a tongue of Ioloa
- 15:04Speaker 1: is back on the field today, still in concussion protocol,
- 15:08Speaker 1: timeline uncertain, but he's not gonna play this week. This
- 15:12Speaker 1: video shop by R cam Wolfe vertically obviously favoring Instagram
- 15:16Speaker 1: over Twitter. Camp with us Live now from Miami Cam.
- 15:19Speaker 1: What do we know about to his status? Yeah, Andrew
- 15:22Speaker 1: today was actually two a ton of valois. First time
- 15:24Speaker 1: on the field since that scary concussion nearly two weeks
- 15:27Speaker 1: ago against the Bengals, and he ran onto the field
- 15:30Speaker 1: with a wide smile, dapping up teammates, joking around with
- 15:34Speaker 1: his quarterback coach Darryl Bevil, and he looked like normal
- 15:38Speaker 1: to as far as his personality and his vibe. And
- 15:40Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel made clear today that Tool will not play
- 15:44Speaker 1: Sunday versus the Vikings. He's progressed enough in the concussion
- 15:47Speaker 1: protocol that he's able to get on the field. He
- 15:50Speaker 1: was able to throw today, He was able to go
- 15:52Speaker 1: through stretch and individual drills, and as I watched him
- 15:55Speaker 1: during practice, he put his hands up when he went
- 15:58Speaker 1: to the throwing session and said, hey, I want the ball,
- 16:00Speaker 1: and he deferred to Skylett Thompson, as you mentioned, who
- 16:03Speaker 1: will be the expected weeks starting quarterback, McDaniel said today,
- 16:07Speaker 1: but he also threw passes today. He threw him up
- 16:10Speaker 1: to thirty yards on the field and he looked good
- 16:13Speaker 1: as a quarterback. Now the team is still being cautious
- 16:16Speaker 1: with him and he'll have to clear the protocol to
- 16:18Speaker 1: be able to get to full activity. But this is
- 16:20Speaker 1: a good sign for to a good sign from the Dolphins.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I was walking around the team locker room today and
- 16:25Speaker 1: just hearing from people about the importance of too, of
- 16:27Speaker 1: being back on the field, and for the Dolphins, they
- 16:30Speaker 1: will move forward with Skyler Thompson as their starting quarterback.
- 16:33Speaker 1: McDaniel said. Teddy Bridgewater, who was actually out at practice
- 16:36Speaker 1: with trainers today, he is still progressing through that protocol.
- 16:39Speaker 1: The hope is that Thursday he will be able to
- 16:41Speaker 1: participate in a limited basis. But even if Teddy clears
- 16:45Speaker 1: protocol by Friday or Saturday, mc daniel told me today
- 16:48Speaker 1: that he would be the backup for Skylar Thompson. So
- 16:51Speaker 1: the Dolphins will start their rookie seventh round pick, Skylar
- 16:53Speaker 1: Thompson for his first career start against the Vikings, guy
- 16:56Speaker 1: who came in off the bench and played the overwhelming
- 16:59Speaker 1: majority of that game this past Sunday, when Bridgewater was
- 17:02Speaker 1: taken off the field on the first possession the game
- 17:05Speaker 1: for the Dolphins. Thank you. That's Cam Wolf Live in Miami.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Will check in on them in a little bit. Now,
- 17:10Speaker 1: let's check in on some underdogs in the game in
- 17:12Speaker 1: the a f C South is how We're gonna start
- 17:14Speaker 1: with Nick Shook, who is all shook up. And I'm
- 17:18Speaker 1: not messing up Nick's name because it is a tongue
- 17:20Speaker 1: twister with the name of this segment. Hi, Nick, Colts
- 17:23Speaker 1: and Jaguars, let's do that one. This game is in
- 17:25Speaker 1: Indianapolis and DraftKings has the Jaguars as the underdog here.
- 17:29Speaker 1: What do you like about Jacksonville in this one? Drevor
- 17:32Speaker 1: Lawrence has taken a step back in the last two weeks.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Some might say he's even regressed. But if there's a
- 17:36Speaker 1: team that I like him to get back on track against,
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's the team that the Jaguars have already beaten in
- 17:41Speaker 1: shutout fashion earlier this season. Now, the Colts bring a
- 17:44Speaker 1: strong defense into this matchup, but I have almost no
- 17:47Speaker 1: confidence in their offense. And if I have to put
- 17:49Speaker 1: a matchup between these two teams, I'm gonna take the
- 17:51Speaker 1: Jaguars defense, which can be punchy, and their offense that
- 17:54Speaker 1: needs to get back on track but is also coordinated
- 17:56Speaker 1: by Doug Peterson. I'm gonna take them over a Colts
- 17:58Speaker 1: offense that's dead last and scoring in total offense. I
- 18:02Speaker 1: trust Peterson to figure things out with this quarterback, to
- 18:05Speaker 1: get him back to where he was in the first
- 18:07Speaker 1: month or so of the season, and and kind of
- 18:09Speaker 1: restart this Jaguars train moving forward and get that sweep
- 18:13Speaker 1: of the Colt Another year, Nick, in which your favorite team,
- 18:16Speaker 1: the Browns, plays Bill Belichick, former head coach and the Patriots.
- 18:19Speaker 1: At this time, the game is in Cleveland, where Belichick
- 18:23Speaker 1: and the Patriots are an underdog according to draft Kings.
- 18:26Speaker 1: But you like them well because I don't like the
- 18:30Speaker 1: Browns defense whatsoever I was gonna says Belichick or a
- 18:34Speaker 1: they can't tackle thing. Yeah, it's that. It's that they
- 18:37Speaker 1: can't tackle that. You don't know if they're gonna be
- 18:39Speaker 1: good against the past, they're gonna be good against the run,
- 18:41Speaker 1: or bad against both. Last week it was bad against both.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Earlier the season it was the past and then it
- 18:45Speaker 1: was the run. Their ninetieth in total defense and rushing defense.
- 18:49Speaker 1: This is a Patriots offense that's in the top ten
- 18:51Speaker 1: and rushing Ramadre Stevenson just set a career high for
- 18:53Speaker 1: Carrie's and yards last week, so I don't care if
- 18:56Speaker 1: it's Mac Jones or Bailey z Affy playing quarterback. It
- 18:58Speaker 1: doesn't matter to me because if it's a close one,
- 19:00Speaker 1: which every Browns game except for the Thursday night game
- 19:02Speaker 1: against the Steelers has been, well, then the pay it sure.
- 19:05Speaker 1: It's a probably gonna have an opportunity to rip off
- 19:07Speaker 1: a big play against this defense. And that's why I'm
- 19:10Speaker 1: confident in them going to Cleveland where Bill Bill Belichick
- 19:13Speaker 1: I had plenty of success in the past. Yeah, if
- 19:15Speaker 1: you go back to the t NF game you're referring to,
- 19:17Speaker 1: which allegedly wasn't close. It actually could have been close,
- 19:19Speaker 1: but the on site kick, well almost happened, all right.
- 19:23Speaker 1: NFC East Sunday Night Cowboys with Cooper Rush, Mike McCarthy says,
- 19:28Speaker 1: are underdogs according to Draft Kings on the road against
- 19:30Speaker 1: undefeated Philadelphia. But you you kind of like the Cowboys here, Well,
- 19:34Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy said last week, where nobody's underdogs, and then
- 19:36Speaker 1: he would out and back that up. His team riding
- 19:39Speaker 1: that defense gotta win over the Rams made me look
- 19:41Speaker 1: good too, So I'm gonna double down with them and
- 19:43Speaker 1: stick with them again against them much better offense, than
- 19:46Speaker 1: the Eagles, but it is a rivalry game, and you
- 19:48Speaker 1: know how those tend to go. You throw the records
- 19:50Speaker 1: out between the Eagles and the Cowboys, and and the
- 19:54Speaker 1: Cowboys do have a history of getting after Jalen Hurts.
- 19:56Speaker 1: He's got a three or four touchdown interception ratio against
- 19:58Speaker 1: the Cowboys as a starter passer rating below eighty. Now
- 20:01Speaker 1: that's not a huge sample size, but that's way below
- 20:04Speaker 1: than where they right now, which is the number two offense,
- 20:06Speaker 1: their top ten in every category except for sacks allowed.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So if I'm gonna bang on one of these two
- 20:11Speaker 1: teams getting a winning a close one, I'm gonna go
- 20:13Speaker 1: with a team that's got the really good defense, even
- 20:15Speaker 1: though the Eagle defense is also good. Let's go with
- 20:17Speaker 1: the Cowboys again. We are gonna talk for hours, I know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: on this network, hours before the Bills and the Chiefs
- 20:23Speaker 1: about that colossal playoff rematch from a year ago for
- 20:27Speaker 1: the first time in Patrick Mahomes history the era. If
- 20:31Speaker 1: you will with him at quarterback for the Chiefs, they
- 20:33Speaker 1: are home underdogs here to the Bills. According to Draft Kings,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you like the home team. It speaks to the power
- 20:40Speaker 1: of the Bills. But I also think there's a psychological
- 20:42Speaker 1: factor that we may be ignoring because we know how
- 20:45Speaker 1: the Bill season has ended the last couple of years
- 20:47Speaker 1: with a loss to Kansas City in Kansas City. This
- 20:49Speaker 1: time they're in Orchard Park. You know, maybe not, but
- 20:52Speaker 1: it's it's it's kind. It doesn't matter based on setting
- 20:54Speaker 1: what's gonna happen here because I still trust Patrick Mahomes
- 20:58Speaker 1: more than I trust anybody else at quarterback not named
- 21:02Speaker 1: Tom Brady to win a game like this. It's a
- 21:04Speaker 1: legitimate toss up. Let's be honest. The Bill's offense is
- 21:06Speaker 1: explosed to their defense has been a revelation. But again,
- 21:09Speaker 1: the psychological factor matters, and I think that the Chief's
- 21:12Speaker 1: ability to beat the Bills when it matters most well,
- 21:15Speaker 1: it's certainly going to inspire the Bills, and it might
- 21:17Speaker 1: just lead This Chief's offense, which does not lean on
- 21:20Speaker 1: one or two players anymore, can spread the ball around
- 21:22Speaker 1: tremendously as they did against the Raiders. I think they're
- 21:24Speaker 1: gonna end up coming out on top. Nick Shook every
- 21:27Speaker 1: week has his Underdogs NFL dot Com slash Underdogs Nick
- 21:33Speaker 1: root for the Underdog Friday Night or Thursday Night at
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yankee stadium. Thank you, Nick? Coming up? Oh yeah, we
- 21:39Speaker 1: have buys this week. There are four teams on buy.
- 21:44Speaker 1: So if you don't have Cooper Cup on your team,
- 21:47Speaker 1: who shouldn't you be picking up? We'll tell you straight
- 21:50Speaker 1: ahead and we'll see the Bears running on Thursday. Get
- 21:59Speaker 1: to Chicago in a second of the meantime bunch of
- 22:01Speaker 1: byes this week, So you know what time to sock
- 22:05Speaker 1: the fantasy roster. You may not have these players on
- 22:08Speaker 1: your team. Maybe you need a quarterback this week. If so,
- 22:12Speaker 1: what do you think, Claibn. It's Wednesday in the fantasy
- 22:18Speaker 1: football world, so you know what that means. Time to
- 22:20Speaker 1: pay attention to the waiver wire, Cynthia, Who do people
- 22:22Speaker 1: need to go get right now? If you need a quarterback,
- 22:25Speaker 1: maybe you have someone on a bike, go get Geno Smith.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Why he gets a very good matchup this week. I mean, look,
- 22:31Speaker 1: you're watching the Saints video. He threw three touchdowns against
- 22:34Speaker 1: the Saints defense. That's ridiculous. Now he gets the Arizona Cardinals,
- 22:38Speaker 1: who is a much more favorable generous even to opposing quarterbacks.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And he's available in seventy percent of NFL dot Com league,
- 22:46Speaker 1: so you can probably get him. I think one of
- 22:49Speaker 1: the biggest positions of need is at the tight end spot,
- 22:52Speaker 1: and I'm gonna be looking at Hayden Hurst this week.
- 22:54Speaker 1: He has receiving touchdowns in back to back games. He
- 22:57Speaker 1: has tied for second on the team with six red
- 23:00Speaker 1: zone targets, led the team in receiving yards against Baltimore
- 23:04Speaker 1: and week five, and with an injury that he Higgins,
- 23:07Speaker 1: he could see his role increase this week. I think
- 23:10Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker as someone you should be really aggressive after
- 23:13Speaker 1: on the waiver wire. He's third amongst running backs and
- 23:16Speaker 1: yards per rush at over six right now, and last
- 23:19Speaker 1: year in college he led all running backs in miss
- 23:21Speaker 1: tackles force and was second and explosive place behind only
- 23:24Speaker 1: Malik Willis. He's going to get a lot of volume
- 23:27Speaker 1: on an offense and playing much better than we expected
- 23:29Speaker 1: Geno Smith included. So I say go and get another Seahawk.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Add Kenneth Walker this week. I'm gonna give you guys
- 23:35Speaker 1: another streaming option at quarterback, and that is justin fields
- 23:38Speaker 1: who've seen us scoring increase week after week out. A
- 23:41Speaker 1: solid performance in the second half against the Minnesota Vikings,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and now it's a commander's team that's in the bottom
- 23:47Speaker 1: ten in scoring against quarterbacks. So have justin Fields this week,
- 23:51Speaker 1: maybe keep an eye on playing him more in the future.
- 23:55Speaker 1: All Right, So that's a look at the waiver wire.
- 23:57Speaker 1: If you want to look at more fantasy football information,
- 23:59Speaker 1: come with us. Watch the show weeknights right here, every
- 24:03Speaker 1: single night, Monday through to day right here on NFL Network.
- 24:08Speaker 1: We're gonna have a show tomorrow featuring All Orange in Chicago,
- 24:13Speaker 1: two and a half weeks before Halloween. They're going All
- 24:17Speaker 1: Orange against the Commanders, who, by the way, we'll have
- 24:21Speaker 1: Carson Wentz. The shoulder is okay. I don't want to
- 24:27Speaker 1: go in depth about Thursday Night Football and this then
- 24:30Speaker 1: the other I will say it is physically, by far,
- 24:32Speaker 1: the hardest week of the season. I mean, it is
- 24:34Speaker 1: not even close in my opinion. Um, you wake up
- 24:37Speaker 1: Monday morning, You're like, holy crap, I gotta play in
- 24:39Speaker 1: three days, you know, And um, it's hard. It's hard
- 24:42Speaker 1: on our bodies. It's hard on on those things. And
- 24:44Speaker 1: anytime it's a head injury especially, that's very concerning. But um,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you know, this is our job, is what we do,
- 24:51Speaker 1: and we find a way to get out there. Thursday
- 24:53Speaker 1: Night and hopefully deliver. We have protocols, We've got renewed
- 24:57Speaker 1: protocols we have to follow and we have to be
- 25:00Speaker 1: very diligent about that. And I think you know, if
- 25:03Speaker 1: you want to do anything, you you you can put
- 25:06Speaker 1: it on the league, you can put it on the team,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you can put it on the NFL p A. But
- 25:11Speaker 1: the player also has to be honest and upfront. You know,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you can't hide anything. You can't try to figure out
- 25:16Speaker 1: how I can cheat through my way through it. This
- 25:19Speaker 1: is about health and safety and and we have to
- 25:21Speaker 1: put it on our individual selves to make sure that
- 25:23Speaker 1: those things are followed and done properly. And you know,
- 25:26Speaker 1: and if not, in something happens, there's going to be accountability.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And obviously health and safety is certainly a factor here
- 25:32Speaker 1: for any team on any night, including on Thursday night,
- 25:36Speaker 1: Mike grd is live in Chicago at Hollis Halls. We
- 25:38Speaker 1: get ready for this one and try to look big
- 25:40Speaker 1: picture on Ron Rivera's team, like, uh, there are some divisions.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Let's say where one win has only a game and
- 25:46Speaker 1: a half back. If you're Houston had a first place
- 25:48Speaker 1: to two back whatever. In the NFC East, the one
- 25:52Speaker 1: win commanders um are in trouble. Yeah, Andrew, that's a
- 25:57Speaker 1: good way to put it. In the immediate aftermath of
- 25:59Speaker 1: their latest loss, their fourth in a row, Ron Rivera
- 26:01Speaker 1: was asked is it time to panic? And he said
- 26:04Speaker 1: for you to the reporter, maybe, but not for me.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And that's been his message to the players this week, saying, essentially, guys,
- 26:11Speaker 1: we've had good practices. We have the pieces in place,
- 26:15Speaker 1: but we need to take what we're doing on the
- 26:16Speaker 1: practice field and let it translate to the game field.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And it's just tightening up the details just a little bit.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I talked to Jonathan Allen, their terrific defensive tackle, and
- 26:26Speaker 1: he said he's been preaching to his guys you've got
- 26:28Speaker 1: a control which you can control. And he said, look,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I've been around teams that have gone in the wrong direction.
- 26:34Speaker 1: He said, when panic sets in, your season is over.
- 26:37Speaker 1: So again, a message from one of the leaders, Terry McLaurin, said, look,
- 26:40Speaker 1: we understand what's in the room. We have confidence in
- 26:43Speaker 1: what's in the room, but we tighten up those defaelts.
- 26:46Speaker 1: This the self inflicted penalties they had seven penalties are
- 26:49Speaker 1: rather nine penalties for seventy one yards in the last game.
- 26:52Speaker 1: You you can't do that. They fumbled four snaps, the
- 26:55Speaker 1: center quarterback exchange wasn't good. Those are the sources of
- 26:57Speaker 1: things that make the difference in winning and losing close games,
- 27:01Speaker 1: right and right now. That one Washington win, I'm pulling
- 27:04Speaker 1: it up right now was not even in the division. No,
- 27:07Speaker 1: it was in the division. They beat the Giants here,
- 27:08Speaker 1: so at least they have that in hand. Um. Let's
- 27:11Speaker 1: get back to Carson Wentz here, Mike Uhum. He has
- 27:14Speaker 1: put up if you're playing fantasy, some some really good numbers.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It's not always winning football, however, Yeah, and Carson Wentz
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think has handled this week. And as we talked about,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I guess you want to call it a controversy if
- 27:26Speaker 1: you will, Rivera's comments about the quarterback position, which of
- 27:29Speaker 1: course yesterday he walked back and said, I just didn't
- 27:31Speaker 1: finish my thought. That's on me. I should know better.
- 27:34Speaker 1: But Wentz is dealt with that very well, I thought,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and in his press conference yesterday when just talking about
- 27:40Speaker 1: the team and generally said, it's really about consistency, not
- 27:43Speaker 1: just for me, but for the entire team, and it's
- 27:46Speaker 1: the little things that we have to clean up and
- 27:48Speaker 1: he said, look, and I have to make certain throws.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And there's been a couple of games where I've had
- 27:52Speaker 1: throws to make and I haven't made them, you know,
- 27:54Speaker 1: tidening up on third down. They were one of eleven
- 27:56Speaker 1: on third down in that game last week. But he
- 27:59Speaker 1: projected a lot of confidence this week. And I know
- 28:01Speaker 1: when talking to the players in that locker room through
- 28:03Speaker 1: the phone this uh, this week, you know that they said, hey,
- 28:06Speaker 1: we believe in Carson. We've got his back. We understand
- 28:10Speaker 1: that this is a process. He's new to this team,
- 28:12Speaker 1: it's just been five games, but they say they have
- 28:14Speaker 1: faith in him. And I thought he carried himself very
- 28:17Speaker 1: well this week. I want to clean one thing up.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I was looking at last year's schedule, the one Washington
- 28:21Speaker 1: win game Week one against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are
- 28:24Speaker 1: still not in the NFC East. Thank you majority in Chicago,
- 28:30Speaker 1: the NFC North there and at Thursday night in football
- 28:33Speaker 1: keeping it in the NFC North. No practice today for
- 28:37Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers. Matt Lafleura on the podium moments ago said
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's a thumb injury, but it is not any concern
- 28:46Speaker 1: for Sunday. The floora said, they're just giving Rogers a
- 28:49Speaker 1: day to rest. He should be good to go for
- 28:51Speaker 1: the Packers and the Jets at Lambeau. Well they'll Beckham Jr.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Was here in l A when the Rams unveiled their
- 28:58Speaker 1: championship banner and held up the Lombardi before losing to
- 29:02Speaker 1: the Bills. He is still, however, not ready to return
- 29:06Speaker 1: to football, being rapp Report reported this past Sunday that
- 29:09Speaker 1: he's looking at mid November. O'Dell is on Twitter this
- 29:13Speaker 1: morning clapping back and some people suggesting why don't you
- 29:17Speaker 1: just go back to the Rams right now? He said
- 29:20Speaker 1: the offer necessary isn't necessarily there. Despite the fact that
- 29:24Speaker 1: so many of us am not going to read the
- 29:26Speaker 1: whole thing. You could read it, look it up at
- 29:27Speaker 1: O b J. So many of us just assume he's
- 29:30Speaker 1: going to go back to the Rams because the Rams,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I think for months have felt comfortable that they have
- 29:35Speaker 1: a good relationship Judy Batista and that it would work
- 29:39Speaker 1: one of these days. Where do you think is the
- 29:41Speaker 1: best fit? I still think the Rams are the best
- 29:45Speaker 1: fit for O. B J. First of all, he went
- 29:47Speaker 1: in there and was super productive. He was a force
- 29:50Speaker 1: in the NFC Championship game, he seemed to have almost
- 29:53Speaker 1: instant rapport with Matthew Stafford. He was a great system fit.
- 29:56Speaker 1: They also could use them. They're missing Van Jefferson. He
- 29:59Speaker 1: would be a great reliable weapon on the other side
- 30:01Speaker 1: from Cooper Cup And I would just say this, he's
- 30:05Speaker 1: coming off a major injury. If you're coming off a
- 30:07Speaker 1: major injury, you know he's not going to go to
- 30:09Speaker 1: a team that's not a contender or with the great quarterback.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you want to return to a team that
- 30:15Speaker 1: you already know the system, you already know the personnel,
- 30:18Speaker 1: you already know the coach will put you in a
- 30:20Speaker 1: position for success. I know b J says the offer
- 30:23Speaker 1: wasn't there, but I still think when the time comes
- 30:26Speaker 1: to Rams for the best landing spot, what do you
- 30:31Speaker 1: say now? I think O, b J should go to
- 30:33Speaker 1: the Rams When you think about what the Rams have.
- 30:36Speaker 1: The offer is the system, is the familiarity, it's a
- 30:38Speaker 1: coaching staff that found a way to elevate his game
- 30:41Speaker 1: after he was languishing in Cleveland. Yeah, to me, it's
- 30:45Speaker 1: the best fit. But Odell has a point. The money
- 30:48Speaker 1: has to be right, the money especially has to be
- 30:50Speaker 1: right down and he's seen the RAM struggle and become
- 30:52Speaker 1: one dimension with Cooper Cup. In the end, I think
- 30:55Speaker 1: the Rams will be where he ends up because it
- 30:57Speaker 1: makes too many, too much sense on all different aspects
- 31:01Speaker 1: from the RAM standpoint and offer from O b J standpoint.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I remember when they signed O b J last year,
- 31:09Speaker 1: it was it was so odd because Robert woulds end
- 31:11Speaker 1: up getting hurt right after that, and then here's O
- 31:14Speaker 1: b J. And he just fit in perfectly all the
- 31:16Speaker 1: way into the super Bowl where he looked like he
- 31:19Speaker 1: was gonna be the guy that was going to dominate
- 31:21Speaker 1: that game until the injury. That the fit is perfect.
- 31:24Speaker 1: He loves l A, it's a great system. He trusts
- 31:27Speaker 1: the quarterback. He doesn't mind being number two to Cooper Cup.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I don't think anybody would. So he he loves the
- 31:33Speaker 1: role right there. The money might come around. The Rams
- 31:36Speaker 1: have always found a way to fit guys in, you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: the regardless of what the cap and all these other
- 31:41Speaker 1: things are, they find a way. And so I still
- 31:44Speaker 1: think that's the best fit. And you could project in
- 31:46Speaker 1: all these other places and do they have the quarterback?
- 31:49Speaker 1: Will he be patient with them? Will he fit in?
- 31:52Speaker 1: Like you know, the fit is the right fit in
- 31:55Speaker 1: Los Angeles. I think the other thing too is tomorrow's
- 31:58Speaker 1: eight months to the day from the injury. The guy
- 32:01Speaker 1: is not yet ready to play football. And I think
- 32:03Speaker 1: you also have the question, and this goes to the
- 32:05Speaker 1: price tag as well. If he is ready mid November,
