- 0:00Speaker 1: On to Ole Miss. So I am the most confident,
- 0:04Speaker 1: I think, in LSU winning. I think Ole Miss has
- 0:08Speaker 1: got a game on their hands. I think Louisville is a, again,
- 0:11Speaker 1: I think their game against SMU will determine who goes
- 0:14Speaker 1: and plays Miami in the ACC championship. If I'm projecting
- 0:18Speaker 1: it out, I have a ton of respect for Jeff Brom.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I am very intrigued to see what Keen Holes looks
- 0:24Speaker 1: like I think he'll be good later in the year,
- 0:26Speaker 1: but how good can he be early? And then again,
- 0:29Speaker 1: what does Ole Miss look like with now the Pete
- 0:32Speaker 1: Golding era? I know we got a little preview of
- 0:33Speaker 1: it in the playoff, but a lot of that certainly
- 0:35Speaker 1: continuation from what they'd been doing all year.
- 0:38Speaker 2: What does that team look like?
- 0:39Speaker 1: I like Ole Miss here too, but I certainly think that,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I mean, Louisville is not far from where you are
- 0:44Speaker 1: there in Nashville, where the game will be held. And
- 0:46Speaker 1: I think they'll pack it out. I think it'll be
- 0:47Speaker 1: a fun game on a Sunday. And, uh, The Pete
- 0:51Speaker 1: Golding era will either get a really big win first
- 0:53Speaker 1: or be really upset. I like Ole Miss, but I
- 0:55Speaker 1: think there's a little bit more of an upset chance here.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yeah, the big question is what does Ole Miss football
- 1:01Speaker 3: look like post Lane Kiffin and Charlie West Jr.
- 1:03Speaker 4: You're right. We got a sneak peek at it.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I was actually at that playoff game against Tulane, and
- 1:08Speaker 3: really that kind of served as the celebration of Pete
- 1:11Speaker 3: Golding and the start of that. But it's different now, right?
- 1:14Speaker 3: We've gone through an entire offseason. This program is, I think,
- 1:17Speaker 3: truly in his image now. A lot of pieces from
- 1:20Speaker 3: that team last year that had that historic run. They're
- 1:22Speaker 3: no longer there. But the two big pieces, obviously, TJ,
- 1:24Speaker 3: that return are Trinidad Chambliss and Kawan Lacey. And it's
- 1:28Speaker 3: almost to a point to where it's lazy to have
- 1:31Speaker 3: this take. And I'm not knocking anybody because I've been
- 1:34Speaker 3: a fault of this as well. But if you're an
- 1:36Speaker 3: Ole Miss believer. Your response to why do you believe
- 1:40Speaker 3: in Ole Miss, Trinidad, Chambliss, Kowan, Lacey, the end. That's
- 1:43Speaker 3: kind of the entire conversation, right? So I do think
- 1:47Speaker 3: Louisville can absolutely give Ole Miss a game. I think
- 1:49Speaker 3: Louisville could beat Ole Miss. I don't think that's out
- 1:51Speaker 3: of the realm of possibility. I will say, though, you know,
- 1:54Speaker 3: we talked about this game today, ironically enough. Both teams
- 1:57Speaker 3: have questions at the tackle spot. I know Louisville's got
- 2:00Speaker 3: a pair of fantastic pass rushers. I think how each
- 2:03Speaker 3: quarterback handles pressure that they're probably inevitably going to get.
- 2:07Speaker 3: is going to be a big key in this game.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Isaac Brown, the running back for Louisville as well, I
- 2:10Speaker 3: think he averaged over eight yards a carry last year.
- 2:13Speaker 3: He is a phenomenal player. They've got a two-headed monster
- 2:15Speaker 3: at the running back position, so Pete Golding's defense will
- 2:17Speaker 3: be tested, but what it comes down to at the
- 2:20Speaker 3: end of the day, TJ, when I look at this game,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I've got 33-20 Ole Miss winning, and it's one that
- 2:26Speaker 3: I don't feel great, but Not only does Ole Miss
- 2:30Speaker 3: have the best football player that will step on the
- 2:33Speaker 3: field Sunday night, they have the two best football players
- 2:35Speaker 3: in Trinidad Chambliss and Kawan Lacy. And I think it's
- 2:39Speaker 3: asking Keen Holtz with a brand new crop of receivers
- 2:42Speaker 3: and questions at the tackle spots against Pete Golding, who
- 2:46Speaker 3: I know some Some Bama folks might scoff at me
- 2:48Speaker 3: when I call him a defensive mastermind because of his time.
- 2:51Speaker 5: That's his bread and butter, right? The defensive side of
- 2:53Speaker 5: the football.
- 2:54Speaker 3: You're asking Keen Holtz and that offense to operate at
- 2:57Speaker 3: a high level consistently enough against Pete Golding to beat
- 3:01Speaker 3: a Trinidad, Chambliss, and Kawan Lacey. And while some of
- 3:04Speaker 3: the pieces, a lot of the pieces around them are different,
- 3:06Speaker 3: just full stop Chambliss and Lacey.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Again, I just think it's asking too much.
- 3:10Speaker 3: So I TJ, I'm excited for nothing else. I mean,
- 3:13Speaker 3: we've only got two games in the SEC that are
- 3:15Speaker 3: single-digit spreads, and this is one of them. So it's
- 3:18Speaker 3: one that I could see getting a little hairy and
- 3:21Speaker 3: coming down to the wire and being a one-score game
- 3:23Speaker 3: late in the fourth quarter. But I'm going to side
- 3:26Speaker 3: with Chambliss and Lacey, man.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I just think they find a way. They get it done.
- 3:30Speaker 3: We talked about who handles the moment better today and
- 3:33Speaker 3: the outside noise. I know we just talked about the game,
- 3:36Speaker 3: but for me, I think there's been more outside noise
- 3:39Speaker 3: following LSU than there has Ole Miss. I think Ole
- 3:41Speaker 3: Miss From what I've been able to gather, I mean,
- 3:43Speaker 3: the only noise they've made is the Heisman campaigns they've
- 3:45Speaker 3: been running with throwing Chambliss and Lacey and the Ole
- 3:48Speaker 3: Miss helmet on the sphere out in Vegas, which I
- 3:49Speaker 3: thought was really cool. But it has, to me, come
- 3:53Speaker 3: off as a very head-down approach, locked in on the
- 3:55Speaker 3: task at hand.
- 3:56Speaker 4: They want to run it back.
- 3:57Speaker 3: They want to get back to where they were and
- 3:58Speaker 3: then obviously finish the job. So I think they will
- 4:01Speaker 3: get off to a hot start. But this is a
- 4:03Speaker 3: tricky game, no doubt, because, again, whoever's tackles don't play
- 4:07Speaker 3: well in this.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Game, Could go a long way in disrupting the outcome, certainly.
- 4:11Speaker 4: But I'll go Ole Miss. I trust Trinidad, Chambliss, Kewan Lacey.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And what Pete Golding and that defense can do against
- 4:18Speaker 3: a lot of new pieces on offense for Louisville, 33-20 Rebs.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Where do you expect Ole Miss– because I do agree
- 4:24Speaker 2: with you.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think they have the best quarterback running back combo
- 4:27Speaker 1: in the conference, maybe the country.
- 4:29Speaker 2: It's elite, both of those guys.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Where do you, when you rank Ole Miss, do you
- 4:36Speaker 1: worry about regression from last year in other areas? And
- 4:41Speaker 1: how big of a concern is that looking at their
- 4:43Speaker 1: schedule in totality, not just the Louisville game?
- 4:45Speaker 3: Well, TJ, they're one that, you know, they're one as
- 4:49Speaker 3: we've gotten closer to kickoff, I've become more and more
- 4:51Speaker 3: nervous about. So I picked them to go nine and
- 4:53Speaker 3: three and be the last SEC team that makes the
- 4:56Speaker 3: college football playoff. I think this is the year that
- 4:59Speaker 3: we get a 9-3 team in the playoff. But I
- 5:00Speaker 3: have gotten more and more nervous about them as we've
- 5:03Speaker 3: gotten closer to kick. There's just, in my mind, I
- 5:07Speaker 3: can see a reality in which they live up to
- 5:10Speaker 3: my predictions or even exceed them, and they're a playoff team.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I could also see.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Them going 7-5 very, very easily. You know, it's just, again,
- 5:17Speaker 3: it's all so much new. And, you know, you have
- 5:20Speaker 3: to account for the fact that Charlie Weiss Jr. is
- 5:23Speaker 3: not there anymore. You know, be damn lame Kiffin, but
- 5:25Speaker 3: Charlie Weiss Jr., the guy who was behind that thing
- 5:27Speaker 3: and was kind of pulling the strings, if you will,
- 5:29Speaker 3: was the puppeteer. He's no longer in charge. So can
- 5:31Speaker 3: John David Baker just jump in and fill the shoes
- 5:34Speaker 3: and they not miss a beat offensively? Is there a
- 5:36Speaker 3: world where Trinidad Chambliss looks mortal, right? They're not able
- 5:40Speaker 3: to open those holes and have balance the way they
- 5:42Speaker 3: were for Kawan Lacy a season ago where he set
- 5:44Speaker 3: so many records. You know, maybe, I mean, they lost
- 5:47Speaker 3: over 3,000 yards of receiving production. DJ, like what if
- 5:49Speaker 3: they don't have those guys on the outside playing to
- 5:52Speaker 3: make those big plays. And I think they have a
- 5:53Speaker 3: number of dudes that can step up and fill those roles,
- 5:55Speaker 3: but just what if, right? And then defensively, I think
- 5:59Speaker 3: the floor's pretty high for them, but a lot of
- 6:02Speaker 3: new faces on the defensive side of the football that
- 6:04Speaker 3: come from the portal. So, yeah, I mean, it's, the
- 6:08Speaker 3: questions are valid and I think the questions are fair
- 6:10Speaker 3: to be asked. And you're also asking an Ole Miss
- 6:13Speaker 3: football program that doesn't have a long history of success
- 6:17Speaker 3: and tradition to do it without the guy that brought
- 6:20Speaker 3: them to That pedestal, if you will. So yeah, there's
- 6:24Speaker 3: just a lot of new, a lot of moving pieces.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Even if they beat Louisville, I don't know that TJ,
- 6:30Speaker 3: we will get the answers to those questions in week one.
- 6:34Speaker 1: They're on the ground, but if they catch these, they
- 6:36Speaker 1: count too. I'm going to take Kiwan Lacy at Ole
- 6:38Speaker 1: Miss to score a touchdown this weekend. I'm going to
- 6:41Speaker 1: say Cam Cook at West Virginia. I think they're going
- 6:43Speaker 1: to be a ground and pound type team. And I'm
- 6:46Speaker 1: going to take Mark Fletcher. I think Miami is going
- 6:48Speaker 1: to score a ton of points on the road at Stanford.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He's going to get in the end zone without a doubt.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Give me all three of them. You play $ 5 over
- 6:55Speaker 1: there on the PrizePix app. Not only do you get
- 6:58Speaker 1: the win, but if you get that first win, use
- 7:00Speaker 1: code HMA, you get 150 in lineups. So a $ 5
- 7:04Speaker 1: lineup very quickly turns into a massive win. Go check
- 7:08Speaker 1: out the PrizePix app. Make sure you're on there this season.
- 7:11Speaker 1: We appreciate them for their support. I'm very intrigued to
- 7:13Speaker 1: see as, as intriguing as the LSU game is for
- 7:17Speaker 1: all of the off the field stuff. And then on
- 7:19Speaker 1: the field too, what I am almost more interested in,
- 7:22Speaker 1: and not only for Ole Miss, but for LSU is
- 7:26Speaker 1: Ole Miss goes on the road the next week to
- 7:27Speaker 1: play in the swamp, a team that, a building that
- 7:31Speaker 1: took down Texas last year and a team that took
- 7:33Speaker 1: down Texas. I'm not saying it's just the, the swamp
- 7:35Speaker 1: there in Gainesville, LSU goes and plays A & M
- 7:38Speaker 1: the next week. That's going to be an emotional win
- 7:41Speaker 1: or loss for both of those teams because can the
- 7:44Speaker 1: winner not slip up the next week and undo the
- 7:47Speaker 1: massive win? And can the loser of that game not
- 7:50Speaker 1: have their heads down and say, man, we lost an
- 7:53Speaker 1: emotional game and compound that by it being two losses.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I I'm still more intrigued by the LSU Ole Miss game,
- 7:59Speaker 1: like everybody else is, but I think that's a massively
- 8:02Speaker 1: underrated part of that game is they both play really
- 8:05Speaker 1: talented teams right after. And you can't let one loss
- 8:09Speaker 1: become two and you can't undo your massive win by
- 8:12Speaker 1: losing the very next week.
- 8:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, listen, I think there's more pressure on
- 8:16Speaker 5: LSU to win that football game.
- 8:17Speaker 2: For sure.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Because I think for Ole Miss, you know, from people
- 8:20Speaker 3: I've talked to down there, they just want to get
- 8:22Speaker 3: it over with.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Just get it over with.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Like, you'd love to beat the guy, obviously, but there's
- 8:27Speaker 3: a pretty easy cop-out if you lose.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Like, hey, like you said you were taking this.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Job because of all the opportunities afforded and you could
- 8:33Speaker 3: do this and this and this and what you couldn't
- 8:34Speaker 3: do at Ole Miss. And I think they'll just want
- 8:37Speaker 3: to be done with it. Meanwhile, there's just a lot
- 8:38Speaker 3: more pressure on LSU to go in there and prove
- 8:41Speaker 3: and Lane to prove that, He made the right decision, right?
- 8:44Speaker 4: So you're right. I mean, that's going to be win
- 8:46Speaker 4: or lose.
- 8:47Speaker 3: It's going to be a talking point for both sides
- 8:48Speaker 3: because of what they have the following week and, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 3: how do you handle the highs of winning a game
- 8:52Speaker 3: that you're just, TJ, you're going to put so much
- 8:55Speaker 3: emotion into that game. No matter what the result is
- 8:58Speaker 3: and the outcome is, how are you able to bounce back?
- 9:01Speaker 4: And is that something that, you know, you.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Hear the old adage that X team beat them twice?
- 9:06Speaker 3: You know, is that able to happen?
- 9:08Speaker 4: I mean, you're right.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I do have Ole Miss winning that football game and
- 9:11Speaker 3: I've got them going into the swamp and winning the
- 9:13Speaker 3: next week. Interestingly enough, I got LSU losing that game
- 9:16Speaker 3: and losing.
- 9:17Speaker 4: To A & M.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I think it'll be different depending on who wins or
- 9:26Speaker 3: loses the game. I think Ole Miss is probably set
- 9:29Speaker 3: up to bounce back quicker. It's more difficult because you're
- 9:34Speaker 3: going on the road too, but you know, you're facing
- 9:36Speaker 3: a Florida team that's got a first-year head coach and
- 9:38Speaker 3: questions their own. Meanwhile, you know, LSU's taking on a
- 9:40Speaker 3: Texas A & M team that, listen, I understand A
- 9:42Speaker 3: & M people have been fading them and they lost
- 9:45Speaker 3: pieces on the offensive line, but A & M, number one,
- 9:48Speaker 3: has owned LSU, and number two, I mean, they throttled
- 9:51Speaker 3: them last year, and the quarterback that did it is
- 9:54Speaker 3: back this season. So, yeah, I think the context matters
- 9:58Speaker 3: when you have that conversation, but you're right. I mean,
- 9:59Speaker 3: they time you're putting in that level of emotion and
- 10:02Speaker 3: intensity and energy in a game, win or lose, how
- 10:05Speaker 3: you follow that up the next week is a big
- 10:07Speaker 3: storyline for sure.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I like the 9-3 pick for Ole Miss to go
- 10:11Speaker 1: to the playoff with that, the first 9-3 team that
- 10:13Speaker 1: will get in there. Somebody does deserve that, and I
- 10:17Speaker 1: don't want to– necessarily do a whole segment on the
- 10:19Speaker 1: nine game sec schedule and strength of schedule and the
- 10:21Speaker 1: playoff committee we could probably save that for november but
- 10:24Speaker 1: uh i do like the pick i'm just telling you
- 10:26Speaker 1: just admiring the creativity because everybody just puts 10 and
- 10:29Speaker 1: 2 teams in all the way through and all the
- 10:31Speaker 1: way down so i like that.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Tj nine game conference schedule i mean listen we're already
- 10:35Speaker 3: worn out we haven't played a single game i mean
- 10:37Speaker 3: it's it's i i will say like i'm sec biased
- 10:40Speaker 3: sure but i love the uh the hypothetical conversations from
- 10:44Speaker 3: some folks in our in our space about you know,
- 10:46Speaker 3: the impact of a nine game competition when we haven't
- 10:48Speaker 3: played one yet.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Listen, I'm, I mean, we're tired just thinking about it, man.
- 10:52Speaker 3: We definitely deserve to be in.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I like, I like what Summerall said. There was a
- 10:56Speaker 1: lot of moaning and complaining about it. I like what
- 10:58Speaker 1: Summerall said at media days when he said, I ain't
- 11:00Speaker 1: going to complain about getting to coach in the greatest
- 11:02Speaker 1: conference on the planet.
- 11:04Speaker 2: And I was like, dude, somebody.
- 11:05Speaker 1: That gets it, even as an FSU guy, I was
- 11:07Speaker 1: like somebody that gets it, like stop complaining and just
- 11:10Speaker 1: go play football.
- 11:10Speaker 3: So Big of you, TJ, to tip the cat to
- 11:13Speaker 3: the Gators head coach. I appreciate it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Dude, I'll tell you. I've talked to them a couple
- 11:16Speaker 1: of times. It pains me to say I like Summerall.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Listen, when you as a Florida State guy, or anybody
- 11:23Speaker 3: for that matter, when you so desperately want your coach fired,
- 11:28Speaker 3: every other head coach looks– I mean, it's like being
- 11:31Speaker 3: miserable in a relationship and then you're almost envious of
- 11:35Speaker 3: all these other happy couples.
- 11:36Speaker 4: You're like, God, I would just.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Take anything over what I have right now.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I'm so jealous. Of all of you. Yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You know, like, I mean, it's hard not to, like, man,
- 11:46Speaker 3: I'm sure you're envious. Your Gator buddies are all, they're
- 11:48Speaker 3: all excited. Oh, man. And they have this new hope
- 11:51Speaker 3: and enthusiasm. And you're like, well, we're just counting down
- 11:55Speaker 3: the days.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You know? That's what's, I mean, that's what's nice about
- 11:57Speaker 1: a coaching change is you I mean, Summer, I do
- 12:01Speaker 1: personally like him. I think he's going to do a
- 12:03Speaker 1: good job at Florida. Much to my own chagrin, right?
- 12:06Speaker 2: But, I mean, he could suck. He could be absolutely terrible.
- 12:08Speaker 2: It doesn't matter, man.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Not in your first August. You get to live all
- 12:12Speaker 1: the hype. You get to drink all the Kool-Aid. You
- 12:13Speaker 1: get to be in a good mood. Allie is just
- 12:16Speaker 1: grinning every time I see her.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And I'm just like.
- 12:19Speaker 1: you, you finished with less wins than I mean, I
- 12:21Speaker 1: know they beat us, but I'm like, you finished with
- 12:22Speaker 1: less wins than us last year.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Why, why are you so happy?
- 12:24Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 2: New coach, new coach fixes everything.
- 12:27Speaker 3: It is the honeymoon phase makes me laugh.
- 12:30Speaker 5: And I told them this too.
- 12:31Speaker 3: When I chatted with them is, you know, it's, it
- 12:34Speaker 3: makes me laugh though about like when he did like
- 12:36Speaker 3: the whole throw the podium thing and like that type
- 12:38Speaker 3: of stuff is all funny in the honeymoon phase. Every
- 12:42Speaker 3: like the coaches, you can't tell a bad joke. Everything
- 12:45Speaker 3: you say is a funny quip or, Oh my God, he's,
- 12:48Speaker 3: He's he's so colorful.
- 12:49Speaker 4: His character is so different.
- 12:52Speaker 3: But you start losing football games. Them jokes don't land
- 12:55Speaker 3: by year two or year three when you when you
- 12:57Speaker 3: don't have a winning record.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Chris Phillips, SEC unfiltered.
- 13:02Speaker 1: What do you guys got coming in this week on
- 13:05Speaker 1: not only the channel, but is it a chewing clock
- 13:07Speaker 1: and everything else that you guys do?
- 13:08Speaker 2: What do you guys got coming as we lead up.
- 13:10Speaker 4: To game week? Yeah, dude.
- 13:11Speaker 3: So, I mean, we're jam-packed busy. Chewing Clock airs Monday, Wednesdays,
- 13:15Speaker 3: 10 a.m.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Central.
- 13:16Speaker 3: That is our football show under the SEC-unfiltered mask. Well,
- 13:19Speaker 3: it's all SEC-unfiltered, of course.
- 13:21Speaker 5: But Chewing Clock, 10 a.m.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Central, Monday, Wednesday.
- 13:23Speaker 3: We'll go live Saturday night after the games as well,
- 13:26Speaker 3: and then on Sunday night after Ole Miss and Louisville.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'll do my show, the Chris Phillips Show, Tuesday, Thursday.
- 13:31Speaker 3: It's going to be a lot more of the same,
- 13:33Speaker 3: a football chatter and probably talking about some stuff outside
- 13:36Speaker 3: of the SEC, talking about some individual segments of content,
- 13:39Speaker 3: some interviews, stuff like that.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Our girl Sierra Clark, speaking of, Gator grad.
- 13:44Speaker 3: She has her show SECT every Thursday night at 7 o'clock,
- 13:48Speaker 3: talking women's sports, talking just tea around the league, does
- 13:51Speaker 3: a lot of cool interviews. And then, yeah, going into
- 13:54Speaker 3: the weekend, I mean, obviously we'll just be content bleeding
- 13:56Speaker 3: out of the eyeballs covering the games. And then Sunday
- 13:58Speaker 3: we've actually got an event at Acme Feed and Seed
