- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Sitting here with my coffee, and well, that's that noise.

- 0:15SPEAKER_00: They said, I don't think so.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not ready.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: You remember how years actually it's almost every single year, you try to hold off.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna try to hold off until November 1st.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm gonna hold off as long as humanly possible, too, for the whole house.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: But either way.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Not that I love the look of that, you know, but I'm sitting here going, I need to.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: But I don't I don't love a$500 bill either.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: I can't afford the whatever cost of new windows that it would be to put them in.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm just like, well, we might plast them up plastic them up this year because NySeg is not taking me the way they did last year.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I'm stepping in, I'm putting my foot down.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: What happened to your endorsement?
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Well, it that is a process to put together that.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're dealing with a national company.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, now is the time.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: There's nothing fast about it.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: So also, uh, Merle had mentioned there paraphrasing this down, they're gonna be dropping off a lot of decoration stuff for you today, glitter and things like that.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: In fact, the line that I love is Sequin City.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Um, that's awesome.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Well, we're leaving here by 11 to go set up the decorations and the music for Dolly Day tomorrow.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Uh tomorrow of latitude 42.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Y'all gotta come.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Six to nine.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: We've got now we have cardboard cutouts of Dolly to take pictures with.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: We have, I'm I mean, you have to buy your own drinks and food, but uh admission is a gently used or a new book, and we're gonna have music.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: It's just gonna be an all-out Dolly night.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna promise with the reading.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, tons of prizes.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everything from I've got Wagner's Wine and Beer.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: We have rodeo tickets, uh, legends gift cards.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Uh oh, I do have some wine that we're actually giving away as well.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, barbecue sauces.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's just so much.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but it all fits together.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Yard FLX passes.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Uh so anyway, there you go, Merle.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: We gotta get out of here to go set up at a certain time.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: So if you're coming, get here.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Uh all right, let me read this really quick.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: The slow death of colors in our world.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And you had mentioned how, yes, the news outlets are saying this is gonna be one of the most spectacular years for colors of, you know, the foliage.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: If you're a leaf peeper.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Well, they go on to say the world lost its color slowly.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: It didn't happen all at once.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: No one woke up and decided that everything should be white, black, gray, or beige.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Colors simply began disappearing quietly.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: One choice uh at a time, interestingly enough, and you'll find out where this applies in a minute.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: While we called that uh absence uh modern modernity, okay, elegance or uh good taste.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, this is decor, not in actual like outside world.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, I completely agree with this.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: When I moved into the house that I live in now, it was all I call it millennial gray.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: And I that was fine.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: At one point I lived in a house where my house was a millennial gray everywhere.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I am sick of that.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: My house is very, very colorful, but you're right, we tend to go for like the creams and the basics, and it's it's just boring.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: In this case, cars lost their vibrant hues, houses abandoned their colorful facades, toys, clothes, devices, even children's uh parties began to follow the same neutral palette.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Things that were once meant to catch the eye, bring joy, and express personal uh per personality started being designed to match everything, and in the end, almost everything ended up looking the same.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: They say there's nothing wrong with uh minimalism.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: The problem starts when it stops being a choice and becomes the only acceptable way to exist.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Well, this is why.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Have you ever seen on TikTok there's there so there's minimalism, which fine if that's your your preference, but go search maximalism on TikTok, and that kind of looks like my house.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: This is why thrift.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Very loud.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: There, I have a green couch, I have a pink, bright, bright lamp.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Um, this is why thrifting is so great because there back in the day, there was a lot of unique colors, um, details, things that you're right.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: If you go to a home goods right now, you go to a TJ Maxx, you go to Ashley Furniture, wherever you're going, you're gonna, and there's like I said, there's nothing wrong with it, but everything is like it is there's not a lot of detail.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Every detail is minimalist as well.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: It's not just the color of the couch, it's the whole package deal.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: They say when color is considered excessive, when visual joy is treated as a lack of sophistication, uh, when uh expressing personality is dismissed as tacky.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm sure my house is so tacky.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: You tacky thank you.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: We have a uh picture that we're just about to hang up, and it is from it's an old circus poster.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It's got a loaded with color.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: It's a huge tiger.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: It's one of those old, and I uh legit, because Zach's also a collector, Ringling Brothers old circus poster.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's gonna be bright, yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Circus on it.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: It's so cool.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: It didn't say toilet.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Of course it was gonna say circus.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Well, yes.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: They say that maybe the world hasn't become more elegant.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Kind of funny when you think about it.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe it has simply become afraid of standing out.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Colors didn't disappear because they stopped being beautiful.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: They disappeared because we learned to feel ashamed of everything that still uh dared uh us to be alive.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Well, it's also heavy pose.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: It's also uh there you have these people who are, and I'm I know we've we kind of pick on the whole Joanna Gaines thing, but it's true.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Look at what she puts out at Target.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: It is all very like rustic and white and cream and sage green, not bright green, sage green.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And we all kind of are like buy her stuff, or or or any other influencer that's like that's showing you their living room.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, this is my perfectly curated couch that's grey.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And how do you say dull without saying I'm dull?
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I went into somebody's house recently and it's a very nice house, but I came home and I told Zach, I was like, boring.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: That was such a dull dull.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And and and I I just I don't see your personality.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Where's your personality in your house?
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you gotta have a little bit of it.
