- 0:58Now, here are the host of The United, We scan podcast, And
- 1:04welcome back, everybody. It is Mario Day.
- 1:09Eve, is that a thing episode 25. We've got our normal line up the
- 1:15tonight with the exception of Mike, he's he's home now but the
- 1:20honey do list was a kind of long for him today.
- 1:22So how are you? How was your week this week?
- 1:25James. Well, first of all, I'd like to
- 1:28take a moment to remember every Fallen vet of fighter of our
- 1:34country as we do this Memorial Day.
- 1:37So I want to remember everyone. That did not come home.
- 1:43And now this week, it was pretty easy.
- 1:47I mean dealing with disputes and getting management to listen
- 1:53about disputes. This was a lot of fun.
- 1:57My manager wants, every route to do a dispute over their 4240
- 2:01ones, not lump them all together like the instructions.
- 2:04Say so that's what we're doing. Everybody's got a sit down with
- 2:07her and do the dispute forms together.
- 2:10So that's we're going to do because they're do with
- 2:12Wednesday. So I'm going to do my Tuesday
- 2:15with the manager even though my route didn't change, I'm still
- 2:18going to do a dispute form because I should be probably
- 2:22making more hours than I am. How about you guys?
- 2:27Yeah, mine's the same. Josh, I was your week, my
- 2:31weakness, pretty good. Again, like James said, just
- 2:42trying to honor and remember Those who paid the ultimate
- 2:47sacrifice for our freedoms that we have.
- 2:53I am not disputing because even though I'm sure there are some
- 2:59things, I'm already a 48k and I went up a little bit.
- 3:05I don't necessarily want to give them more that they can cut off
- 3:09my route later. However, in October, I will be
- 3:15going through everything but a fine-tooth comb.
- 3:20Well, Bill how was your week, dear?
- 3:23Oh, it's just fine and dandy peachy keen, Tommy.
- 3:27Yeah, I love the place. I mean, really free
- 3:31entertainment. They pay you to be there.
- 3:33You know, they give you a personal vehicle, customized
- 3:36vehicle, you know, the greatest management and in the world,
- 3:40great co-workers, everybody's cooperative and then I wake up
- 3:45and go to work. Yeah, I mean, you know, we're
- 3:54short of Supervisors. We're short of Clerks were short
- 3:57of carry. Well, we have enough carriers
- 3:59but they don't show up all the time.
- 4:03Yeah, yeah. Some people get frustrated with
- 4:06management. I just laugh and file a
- 4:08grievance. You know.
- 4:09I just here you go. Here's another one was his for
- 4:12working off, the clock. What's this for waiting time?
- 4:16What will you waiting for? We're waiting for the DPS to be.
- 4:19Put up well, your subs can do it but nobody told them to you now
- 4:24so you get, you know, it's not up to us to direct the other
- 4:27carriers in the their duties, it's up the management.
- 4:31And and you know, I sit there that lab and supervisor sits
- 4:34there and says, well who worked off the clock?
- 4:36And I mentioned the carrier and they said, well, no, they
- 4:39weren't doing that. They were working, you know,
- 4:41they were talking to me and I said, when you're handing out
- 4:43the flats, they were at the case mail in the slots lights on
- 4:47armful of flats and everybody else.
- 4:49I walked in that 8:28, I don't know what to tell you, you know,
- 4:57somebody's stupid. So like I said, I mean, you
- 5:00know, I just smiled file a grievance, you know, go on my
- 5:03Merry way. Yes.
- 5:06Dress. Cause it baby cause it.
- 5:09There you go. There's your slogan.
- 5:13Yeah, that's one of them. Hey, my week was, it was okay,
- 5:21the most part. I we just with that mercury
- 5:23spill that happened the down of the plant, so everything that we
- 5:28didn't get the week before, we definitely got this week and
- 5:33yeah, it was one of those. those days were go on the route,
- 5:37Friday borrowed RCA have been running it for all week, and I
- 5:46get to the route on Friday and I was a little miffed because we
- 5:49had Ed bows came in on Thursday and those are out, Scott box
- 5:57holders on Wednesday, Ed rose on Thursday and another box holder
- 6:02on Friday. Which for us is quite a bit in
- 6:05one week and he only did half of the one box holder on Wednesday.
- 6:15So arrows come in on Thursday. So he finished off the other
- 6:19box. Holder.
- 6:20Not only did half of the ad bows on Wednesday and Thursday.
- 6:24I have walk-in Friday morning to a fad bows, and another whole
- 6:28box holder and I love the supervisor know.
- 6:35I said this. Well, the OIC.
- 6:37Excuse me, I said this is bullshit.
- 6:39It was my exact words, this is bullshit.
- 6:43There's a lot of boxes. This week is like, well, he had
- 6:47a box. Hold box, holder and a half
- 6:49yesterday. I said, do I said he had a box
- 6:51holder on Wednesday at vosges yesterday.
- 6:54And now I have another box holder today that I'm taking out
- 6:57with half the ad Voz. Oh yeah.
- 7:02I was not a happy camper and then of course, being Memorial
- 7:04Day weekend and garage sales City.
- 7:07I'm, you know, having to fight the garage sales while I'm out.
- 7:10Delivering and then come home and sit at my own.
- 7:13Yeah, I didn't have that problem yesterday.
- 7:21You didn't work. Did you never mind?
- 7:43That I have to deal with them anymore.
- 7:47However, well only one of two or two per month, you still get the
- 8:00rest of them though. Right?
- 8:06So if you get them box holders, they won't be addressed.
- 8:14Well, get out, get out here, get out your customers, get him to
- 8:16start doing mediums every month to make up for it.
- 8:20You know. Do the rural reach We're really
- 8:26love that. It would your coworkers.
- 8:35Okay, you guys go. Glad you said that?
- 8:37Because I will say something in but I will I'll hand it to one
- 8:46of my regulars in my office Friday, this because I did get
- 8:49slammed and I did have plans to go Go down to a concert on
- 8:54Friday, a ticket. I had bought in January and
- 8:58you'll see say with my car, getting totaled and everything
- 9:03else that I ended up skipping the concert Friday.
- 9:09But one of my regulars on the smallest on RH route she took my
- 9:16Ox route for me Friday even though she had to box holders on
- 9:19her row. She volunteered and took the aux
- 9:22route for me, so I could clean up the mess from The Borrowed.
- 9:29That was nice of her. Speak.
- 9:33Now we're at the point in my office where you know, we used
- 9:36to help and even though it hurts the subs a little bit, we don't
- 9:42help anymore. I get it.
- 9:45Yeah again because you you because then they start
- 9:48expecting you to do it, right? Yeah.
- 9:51I mean I would have I would have taken the ox role if I
- 9:54absolutely had to. It wasn't a big deal.
- 9:57It was nice that she volunteered because initially what it was
- 10:00was One of the other newer RCA's was scheduled to run it, but his
- 10:05regular wanted the day off so that bumped him off the aux
- 10:09route. And I initially had plans so I
- 10:14was going to try and keep to that schedule, but it all worked
- 10:18out. You must like the girl in the
- 10:24route next to me has been out for Oat little over a month now.
- 10:33and she's not supposed to be back until almost the end of
- 10:39June because she broke her foot and So they have been having one
- 10:47sub carrier route most days recently but before that the you
- 10:55know, the work wife's star. She's been taking it like some
- 11:01of it helping you get it up and so I'm good.
- 11:04The other day, the 204 B came over to her and ask her about
- 11:08helping says, I can't I got to get out of here.
- 11:11You know, I got things I have to do right here. you know, soon as
- 11:14I get done work, And to a breeze.
- 11:18Like, but I have like five routes down on the other Zone.
- 11:23I got to figure. I don't know how to get this
- 11:25out. It sounds like a you problem.
- 11:28Doesn't it? Pretty much.
- 11:30That's a management issue at that point.
- 11:33Yep. So guys, what hot topics are we
- 11:37looking at chat about tonight? Well, this afternoon, we posted
- 11:44In the group, what will be like to talk about and or screenshots
- 11:50bring shots in the chat of different things?
- 11:55Let's see. First one was I like to hear
- 11:59more about those arguments with management LOL, you got some of
- 12:08that question answers. You got from mid State's
- 12:13Parents, sorry, if posting this information already.
- 12:16Maybe I missed it. I'm gonna apologize.
- 12:19Now, to everybody that I had yet to dictate my notes, given the
- 12:24issues that I've been dealing with with the last couple weeks,
- 12:27like my car being total about a week after I got back from it
- 12:30states and my work schedule, I do apologize.
- 12:34I will get to those as soon as I can hopefully soon or than
- 12:39later. Here's another good one.
- 12:42How mileage is lost on our route.
- 12:44So daily distance was lost. I think and then simple things
- 12:47we've had and done for years had for years and now they figure a
- 12:52different way to do things that are loss.
- 12:55Okay? The mileage loss on the routes,
- 12:57comes down to the GPS, on the scanners, doing the lto, you can
- 13:03fight that, you can file a dispute on that and they can do
- 13:07a route. Remeasurement incorrect that for
- 13:09you just saying, Part of that is also if you are taking a
- 13:14shortcut on your route, like, for instance, on my route, my
- 13:19route says that I go to the end of the road and do a U-turn, a
- 13:25shortcut would be to pull in the driveway and back out and go the
- 13:28other way. If you're not doing that drive
- 13:31to the end of the road and do it, you turn eventually, the GPS
- 13:36will cut that off of your route. Just like if you have streets
- 13:41that you normally go down. If you no longer go down then
- 13:44eventually they're going to cut those off your route from the
- 13:46GPS breadcrumbs from the scanner.
- 13:49So make sure you're driving your entire route every single day.
- 13:53The way you're supposed to drive it the way it was on your 4003.
- 13:58Because even though the 4003 supposably doesn't matter
- 14:01anymore, you still want to drive it like your 4003 because that's
- 14:06how your mileage is going to be calculated by the GPS.
- 14:10And to the best of my knowledge today, the distance between the
- 14:15mailbox and you're actually delivery point is still line of
- 14:18sight. It's not the actual road.
- 14:21So if you have some elongated driveways, like I have several,
- 14:26you're only getting that distance as the crow flies, not
- 14:29the actual distance, If you need your at a house on my route and
- 14:35you're behind the pond and I have to go a half a mile around
- 14:39the pond to get to your garage that this distance doesn't get
- 14:42calculated. Just the, you know, 300 feet
- 14:45from the mailbox to the garage. One of your favorites, bill.
- 14:54I'm curious what and then in quotation marks settled for
- 14:57language means in a couple people like it and the replied
- 15:04me too. All right.
- 15:11Do you say that in English because you your robotic on my
- 15:14system? A lot.
- 15:15Alright, settled. For language, they're curious,
- 15:18what that means. Well depending on how much you
- 15:23curse when you settle for language or one of my favorites.
- 15:33That's when that's when you can't settle your grievance at
- 15:36the local level and it gives up to the steps to and either they
- 15:40D RDR is settling it for you and they settle for language.
- 15:44So, case in point, when somebody's discussing something
- 15:49no less a Hypothetically, the workday relief list does not up
- 15:54in a timely fashion and they failed to do that and then they
- 15:58start scheduling People based on who they like, or don't like
- 16:01them all that. Well, since you have no active
- 16:04work, they were leafless. Then, you know, they can turn
- 16:08around and schedule people unless they ask them by
- 16:11seniority and if they don't get the people then they know turn
- 16:15around and they force them by Jr d.
- 16:17So when a grievance comes back and, you know, eight carriers
- 16:21have been offended in regards to wages and the step to comes back
- 16:28settle for language. That will cooperate with
- 16:31management and make sure they put it up on time.
- 16:34You might blow a gasket. Because it's not your
- 16:39responsibility to make sure they do their job, it's their
- 16:43responsibility. So when you know I see those
- 16:47words settled for language. Oh Lord, all the Crown Royal
- 16:52flows that night. I'll tell ya.
- 16:57Is another good one. That's a hypothetical situation.
- 17:01Where basically, settled, for language means that whoever is
- 17:06sitting on it, they manage they and management agree that
- 17:12management will follow the contract.
- 17:15That's your whole room. That's the remedy.
- 17:19That's what you got. There's no cease and desist.
- 17:22We won't do it again. You know, we you'll stop doing
- 17:25it and won't do it again. Then there's no compensation for
- 17:30the affected carriers. It's just imagine doing it will
- 17:35management will follow the contract in this regard, so
- 17:39it'll / management means nobody's getting paid.
- 17:41That's what it means. How can we change the union
- 17:48leaders? Because the times that we have
- 17:50been given for each duty is unacceptable and Union seems to
- 17:54not care. We've talked about on the
- 17:58subject quite a few times on how Vote or delegates National at
- 18:08vote to elect the leaders that sit at the table.
- 18:13Everybody should have gotten their ballots.
- 18:15If you're a dues-paying member, you've gotten a probably gotten
- 18:18a ballot in the mail. Now, to vote for your National
- 18:22delegates. That is how you change the
- 18:25leaders. If you want to change them, you
- 18:27can also choose to have the same leaders if you like the leaders
- 18:32that are in there and that's whether it doesn't matter to us.
- 18:37Either side of it, we have our own opinions on the leaders of
- 18:40the Union, everybody else has their To the leaders of the
- 18:44Union, that's up to them. But you have to vote on your
- 18:48National delegate ballot, for the people who are running for
- 18:52that, that support your personal ideas in the people, you want to
- 18:59see in those positions, otherwise you're just going to
- 19:03have the same old. Same old, if you don't vote, the
- 19:06biggest thing, any dues paying member can do is vote.
- 19:12And the second biggest thing you can do is file a resolution.
- 19:16Yes. That can change things your
- 19:20everybody, and if every District looking like in Pennsylvania, we
- 19:26have 42 44, 46 of them. Everybody submits a resolution
- 19:31for one, man, one person. One vote for national board.
- 19:37There we go. We're going to get enough
- 19:39pressure for it. To be considered at the state
- 19:41level, then gets pushed up to the National level.
- 19:44If they do it in Maine. Massachusetts Mississippi,
- 19:46Nevada, say, Same thing, they're gonna see that, you know, these
- 19:51people are not happy with the representatives are sending to
- 19:54the National Convention and voting their interests and not
- 19:58yours. And I'll step up and run to be a
- 20:04delegate. Hmm, there's that to step up and
- 20:09run for net is get involved. And if you are involved, you
- 20:12know, you could step up and run for national board.
- 20:16Kosta tution National Constitution.
- 20:18Just says that you have to be a dues-paying member in good
- 20:22standing for three consent for the last three consecutive years
- 20:26in order to run for national board.
- 20:27And it doesn't say you have to start at one position and work
- 20:31your way up. It just says to run for national
- 20:33board. A couple of us have done that in
- 20:39the past. Yeah, baby.
- 20:48There's, it's that whole, you have to vote, I mean, when only
- 20:5420%, and then we've mentioned this many, many, many times.
- 20:57When 20% of the members vote, you're not going to get much of
- 21:03a change. If it's the same twenty percent
- 21:04voting, for the same people that vote for the same people.
- 21:08Oh, That's how you do that. Can someone who isn't a delegate
- 21:15run for national board at the National Convention?
- 21:18Yes, you can be registered as a guest is a non delegate and run
- 21:25for national board. You do not have to be a
- 21:27delegate. I'm going to speak from
- 21:29experience. I was an alternate delegate last
- 21:32year. I had no voting capabilities and
- 21:35I ran for national board. Yes, this is a dues-paying
- 21:38member in good standing for three years.
- 21:43So, you can register as a non delegate attendee in run for
- 21:47national board. A question, we got take the
- 21:55topic of denied annual leave for the reason.
- 21:59No subs available through the grievance process now.
- 22:08As it stands. We legally are not allowed to
- 22:11discuss grievances that have occurred, but we can give
- 22:15examples. So if you're denied because no
- 22:19subs available, if you have Subs in your office and they aren't
- 22:23scheduled yet on that day or however, it works.
- 22:28What do you guys think? Bill, you're the big grievance
- 22:32guy? Well, in our office, It's Not
- 22:34Unusual for us to have a bacon. Trout scheduled with the
- 22:39anticipation of the sub, splitting it up.
- 22:41So, if you're only going for a day or two, you know, that's not
- 22:46a big deal in my office, okay, we have the coverage and
- 22:51actually we have, we have two new sub starting this week so
- 22:55yeah, I mean, you know, the management can schedule an open
- 22:58route, so if you need the time off, I would present that to
- 23:02them. I believe that's in the order of
- 23:05consideration, not that I could professionally speaking.
- 23:07Not on my own. But you know, if I would look
- 23:11there, I might find it. Yeah, hopefully, tarragon the
- 23:15odor of consideration. You can find it on the NRL, see
- 23:19a website under the steward reference guide under the letter
- 23:23O and I know there are many other places I have it listed as
- 23:27well. Yeah, definitely, the and it's
- 23:31not just Subs in your office. Either know, you've got track
- 23:36because it can be within 50 miles of your office.
- 23:40So if you actually know there's Is a sub available in your
- 23:45District. That would be willing to work
- 23:47that day and your management saying no subs available but
- 23:51that sub is available. Talk with your local designated
- 23:55union rep. Say hey, I try, they didn't want
- 23:58to do this. I'm filing a grievance on it
- 24:00because such and such sub is available at this office and is
- 24:03willing to come here and run my route.
- 24:07Well, I'll take it one step further because if I wanted the
- 24:10time off and we didn't have any subs available, I would have to
- 24:14ask supervisor which local offices has she called to see if
- 24:18any subs were available? I was just going to say that
- 24:23that I have put that as a contention in my statement
- 24:28multiple times. They have not you know that
- 24:30management did not reach out because I hand the slipped it on
- 24:33the market tonight and hand it right back to me.
- 24:36So I know they didn't even check to see if I need anyone was
- 24:38available. Okay, I'm going to interject for
- 24:43a moment and I want to say, welcome back to Mike.
- 24:46I was your trip. How was Hawaii?
- 24:49Did you get the honey do list done?
- 24:52We have the honey do list. There's more to come.
- 25:15And most importantly, I didn't care.
- 25:23Well. That might just remember the
- 25:44matter how long you take off. You actually need one and a half
- 25:50times that. Yeah.
- 25:54Yeah. Well I wasn't I wasn't.
- 26:02How do I want to say this schedule for
- 26:34What's that is? It are you going back to work
- 26:36Tuesday? I've already been back to work.
- 26:39Okay, I came back, we flew overnight, we pick an overnight
- 26:45flight on Tuesday. She landed Wednesday morning,
- 26:49Thursday. Actually, I was back to work
- 26:50last Thursday, okay? And then, and I took about 20
- 26:56minutes. 8127 time to clean up the stuff.
- 27:00I just the random stuff I just found laying around my case
- 27:03including three Parcels. Well, one was in the case from
- 27:06the day before and then two Parcels were sitting on top of
- 27:09the case. It's like, total been supervisor
- 27:12and one has been sitting for about ten days.
- 27:15Wow. Yeah.
- 27:19The joys of playing clean up, right?
- 27:21Yeah. So Friday and my role as you
- 27:26can. I actually got my Payday on
- 27:28Friday, but I went in for about an hour to sit in on my first.
- 27:31I and I, and That Was Then, you know, I work yesterday, I'm off
- 27:38today and tomorrow, and we will be back at it on Tuesday.
- 27:45Fun. At least you got to clean up
- 27:47before the holiday I did. And that will be miserable.
- 27:53This weekend is the Kansas State Convention, so I will be off
- 27:57from Saturday until next Wednesday.
- 28:03We will have good on Saturday for board meeting and then
- 28:06Sunday, Monday, Tuesday is the state convention.
- 28:10We'll see how that goes. It should be interesting.
- 28:14Yeah. Alright so we're going to kind
- 28:16of go to this one and a little all over the place but what
- 28:21needs an extra scan and what each scan actually gives credit
- 28:25for such as just to mailbox or also to Door example I'm reading
- 28:31people double scanning carrier pickups is prepaid acceptance
- 28:35and or Muska lanius and some say certified needing dormice
- 28:39colonias as well whether 3849 is give credit to the door
- 28:43excetera. Seems many offices do things
- 28:46differently. When it comes to doing the
- 28:51additional scans trip to doors Norma School Aeneas, what not if
- 28:57you are going to the door more than one time, you're going to
- 29:01enter that in as actually, you know, as extra charge to the
- 29:06door when you're doing a certified.
- 29:12Because it isn't accountable and it's already built in under the
- 29:16accountable credit to go to the door.
- 29:18Obviously, you don't need a dormice coleus.
- 29:23Or a certified. No.
- 29:29It's just like taking a parcel to the door.
- 29:32Yep. Because if you scan it at the
- 29:35door, when you ring the doorbell knock on the door to attempt it,
- 29:40that's your that's your scan. then you guys,
- 30:09Whether you actually have the person there to sign for it, or
- 30:14you'll even notice you're still getting the credit to the door.
- 30:17Supposedly April 10th, our episode carrier discretion AKA
- 30:22activity scans went through the whole treat with what each of
- 30:26the scans were And how they matter?
- 30:32Right? I don't have the PDF saved in
- 30:36the 99 page document with what the time standards are so for
- 30:42anything. Because I think that was part of
- 30:43that question. Most of your scans are going to
- 30:46be under the one scan, the ones that are two scans.
- 30:51Are your SPS p.m. scans that you get from them and I can't
- 30:57remember the other ones. But there are specific ones that
- 31:01are two type to verification scans and single verification
- 31:06scans. You'll have to read up on that
- 31:07in the 99 page guide but there's two different credits for those
- 31:11ones but you're certified they're going to be a single
- 31:14scan and you're like a pickup. Requests are two Factor scans.
- 31:20You have to do so that gives you an idea.
- 31:25Yeah, because you're skiing in the SUV.
- 31:28Yes or no. Did you complete the big help?
- 31:31Yes. And then if it's more than five
- 31:37packages, he'll do the remaining under the prepaid acceptance.
- 31:43There we go. And now you don't have to use a
- 31:48door Muska. Lanius for are your pickups.
- 31:52If you have to make more than one trip to load everything
- 31:55under a carrier. Pick up that actually falls
- 31:57under the trip to Door. Yes, I'm walking to the door and
- 32:04I tripped. Do you know your that's a
- 32:09carrier? That's crashing.
- 32:14Make sure you're wearing a postal approved shoes for that
- 32:17because that's the first thing we're going to look for.
- 32:24They Billows. Italy rocks.
- 32:25That doesn't know my Crocs. You gotta remember, folks, when
- 32:31you going to the door, okay? You either have a package.
- 32:35You have a certified. You have hold mail if you're
- 32:39taking, you know, the whole nail up there, you know, it's an
- 32:42unscannable parcel. With this morning, eight pieces,
- 32:45you're getting the credit for going the door.
- 32:47For anything that is accountable under the terms of a certified
- 32:52Express, Mail registered, or any type of parcel that has a bar
- 32:58code on there, you're getting that credit.
- 33:00Already when you go to the door. So there is no miscellaneous
- 33:03credit for other things. Then a second trip to the door.
- 33:08So don't try to cheat the system.
- 33:12Please don't there. I've seen several reports of
- 33:15people getting with the you know, Infamous benchmarks of
- 33:20well you had too many of these and now you have to verify all
- 33:24your unscannable Parcels before you leave to the row.
- 33:26And hey guys let's just really want to do that.
- 33:31If they want to show you to show them every single parcel.
- 33:34If they are, you want 8127 or 1314 a time for that.
- 33:38At mmm, especially unscannable Parcels.
- 33:44Now, there's confusion on unscannable Parcels, because of
- 33:48the fact that you get some of those big donations to the
- 33:52Native American or, you know, American veterans association
- 33:57or, you know, some kind of wildlife conservation group that
- 34:01don't fit in the case, That's that's the technicality.
- 34:06If it doesn't fit in the mail slot with the mail that's an
- 34:11unscannable parcel. If you can't bend it to put it
- 34:16in there with ease because your mail is supposed to slide in as
- 34:20you're not supposed to sit there and wiggle it in folks, it's
- 34:24supposed to slide in That's an unscalable parcel.
- 34:28And if anybody has any questions about that, then you bring it to
- 34:32their attention. Say look this, I can't case this
- 34:36in a timely fashion for this, be considered a flat.
- 34:41This is not a letter obviously because it's him 20 inches long
- 34:44and 14 inches high is not going to fit into my 5 shelf system.
- 34:51You got a partial. I got the five shelf and you
- 35:08know, I have a half Wing too. Can I say thank you for not
- 35:13putting anything on the is nothing more annoying.
- 35:17Especially if it's on an end. I just know, I can't do it.
- 35:27I fought tooth and nail with AMS on that.
- 35:30You're getting the double slots on the end.
- 35:33And, you know, they supposed to be first one has to, you know,
- 35:37have your change of address cards in there.
- 35:40I said, okay put it in there, they put it, put it in there, I
- 35:42white it out and it was just got the address for the first
- 35:45address in there, you know, whatever makes you happy, folks,
- 35:49you know that there's tricks of the trade that you pick up over
- 35:52two years. So That's mine.
- 35:56Definitely. Well, this one.
- 36:01They had a screenshot of an article out of one of the
- 36:07national news magazines, but I don't have it back up there now,
- 36:12but it has to do with clarification on late arrivals
- 36:20and second trips. Their UPS normally drops off
- 36:25around 10 or 11 and get scanned for the next day.
- 36:28The clerk mistakenly scanned them for the same.
- 36:31Um day. So they're told they had to go
- 36:33back out because of the clerk's mistake at the time it was 2
- 36:38minutes per mile, plus load time.
- 36:41If you're going to explaining it arrivals are not the three
- 36:45minutes. A mile.
- 36:45We now get for second trip. The answer I have it pulled up.
- 36:51Okay. According to the union article
- 36:54is says no is not proper. Under the terms of the pre
- 36:57arbitration settlement. The agreement covers second
- 37:01trips to deliver Express priority, and other preferential
- 37:04mail pieces that have arrived at the office after the carrier
- 37:07left for the street, it does not include returning to get Parcels
- 37:11that Clerks just did not get sorted before you left this
- 37:15agreement does not all also does not apply to those instances.
- 37:19When rural carriers may be instructed to return, to the
- 37:21route to deliver late, arriving trays, or even entire runs of
- 37:25DPS letters or DPS Flats in these instances.
- 37:29The union position is that rural carriers should be compensated
- 37:33for actual time at the carrier's overtime rate.
- 37:37The same method used to calculate Christmas overtime,
- 37:39rate, you should also receive additional EMA as appropriate.
- 37:43If you drive your personal vehicle on the route, if you are
- 37:46required to make to return to the office, and make a second
- 37:49trip to deliver Parcels that were not sorted before you left
- 37:52or take out late arriving DPS letters or flat, ask your
- 37:56supervisor to compensate you at the overtime rate.
- 38:01If they refuse and talk to your local designated union
- 38:04representative. But do the work.
- 38:09Yes, but follow a direct order preferably in writing round
- 38:15dated and signed always I advise everybody, if they don't put it
- 38:26in writing then, you know, don't do it.
- 38:28If you're not willing to put their name on it, in the fashion
- 38:32of a direct order, then, you know, they're hiding something
- 38:37and they people in my office, basically simple.
- 38:39But what if we get in trouble? I says, don't worry, I got your
- 38:41back. All right, there's a couple ones
- 38:45under this. One out of a clarification on
- 38:48what carriers over 55 are entitled to example, auxiliary
- 38:53help. When they can get help or for,
- 38:55maybe they have a Parcels, they have to go over there.
- 38:59Eval weekly, can they get help on Mondays or day after a
- 39:02holiday when they will be out longer than evil?
- 39:10Well, Josh, you want to handle that?
- 39:11You're over 55. Look, I took the first shot at
- 39:28him. His last name was Franklin.
- 39:44I gotta go find my waiters and they've been here.
- 39:49I used to set the stop. The dirty Ross's house for tea
- 39:52and crumpets. Well, you're the one who told
- 39:57her to put the 13 stars on the flag, what the hell?
- 40:03She had extra white okay on the internet again.
- 40:09But the the 55 rules is only hit, you want to have your route
- 40:13reduced, it doesn't hit times nothing to do with have even
- 40:17Monday's or lifting Parcels or anything else.
- 40:21I hate to say it but you know, it's just if you want to take it
- 40:25easier on your body and make yourself last a little longer.
- 40:28I mean, there are situations where people have to turn around
- 40:32and taking their routes from a K2, an H because they can handle
- 40:36six days a week at 6 and a seven hours versus, you know, five
- 40:41days working 10 hours. So it has no bearing on the
- 40:44value of the mail to did day of the week or anything else like
- 40:47that, you just getting old. That's all.
- 40:52Don't do it. It's a trap.
- 40:58Yeah, that's really all that is. No, you can ask if you're over
- 41:0155, you can even if you're not an overburdened route, you can
- 41:05submit into heavier route if needed.
- 41:11You're getting old. I
- 41:40didn't get a chance to get back to.
- 41:43I'm going to read this one now and I'm going to let you guys
- 41:45chime in here. Working on dispute forms for our
- 41:48office. I will leave out the name of the
- 41:50office. You have any knowledge of how 34
- 41:54additional round-trip miles being added to our route daily,
- 41:58or remodeling construction would have affected our Rex for eight
- 42:02months. We are temporarily placed in
- 42:05another building. So I'm curious if you think the
- 42:07additional mileage could have hurt our X and we were also
- 42:12required to do RJ time, and of shift duties, and our local
- 42:16office due to not having staff to work, our throwback case in
- 42:19the other office. Although we had to drive back.
- 42:22So that unit every day. Located there.
- 42:30They're off as being renovated so they have to work at another
- 42:32office. Uh-huh.
- 42:34And then at the end of the day, they have to return to the
- 42:36original office which they can't work out of in the daytime case
- 42:41up there, all stuff and then go back to the office that are
- 42:45operating out of. Yeah.
- 42:49So yeah, I think that was all be under return to to you.
- 42:56Yeah, should be. Yeah, I would say even the drive
- 43:00back to the original unit would be would be under the end of
- 43:05shift duties. At this point in time, that 34
- 43:11miles if round trip, if that's dead head.
- 43:15Yeah, that's that's on the sucky part of the, the drive speed
- 43:21Matrix. Nothing coming like that that's
- 43:26a double-edged sword there. Because one It hurts you because
- 43:33it's all a deadhead time too. S extra miles that are added
- 43:40into your route. So you're getting the extra time
- 43:46towards your evaluation during the winter time that you're
- 43:50working out of this other building, which you will then
- 43:56lose when you go back into your office and you'll go back to
- 44:02your regular, but you know, is James just said it's going to be
- 44:07at the lower the lowest time period because it's at the, you
- 44:13know, it's going to be calculated by a fascist
- 44:15depending on, How long? Your trip, you know how long you
- 44:22travel each stretch? So every time you get to a
- 44:24corner and turn or a stop sign, it stops and starts over.
- 44:31At least it's supposed to anyways.
- 44:33What? Yes, and this is the thing
- 44:39that's really pissed. Me off about Rex, okay?
- 44:43We were supposed to go live in September and although the union
- 44:48new in August, it wasn't happening.
- 44:50They didn't bother telling us until after the convention, it's
- 44:54called political survival. But the biggest problem of it is
- 44:58that in the six months between September and February, March,
- 45:02they still didn't train everybody, okay?
- 45:06They still didn't get all the necessary items taken care of in
- 45:11the dress. They didn't get all the training
- 45:12to the carrier's address. My biggest problem is that none
- 45:17of the management in a lot of offices weren't qualified to
- 45:22actually do the MMF MMS, okay? Their office is out there now
- 45:28that still haven't been mapped and yet you're trying to
- 45:32implement this program. The every day, there's the
- 45:36horror stories about, you know, scanner malfunctions Parcels
- 45:41been left at the end of the end of the day that you don't have,
- 45:45you know, Parcels that show up in your scanner and they're, you
- 45:47know, 40 miles away in Delaware or Madison Wisconsin.
- 45:51Where wouldn't doesn't matter if they're just not there.
- 45:54But they're showing up in your scanners a failure.
- 45:56These are the types of things that you know, needed to be
- 45:58corrected and in the 11 years, since the Inception of this
- 46:02idea, they have failed to perform on both sides of the
- 46:07coin, the union, and the post office.
- 46:10And there's no way in hell that the union should agree to
- 46:13anything until everything was worked out.
- 46:17And don't tell me, we have to go through this process to find out
- 46:20what the bugs are. At the livelihood of 66 percent
- 46:27of the carrier's affected. So maybe on the carrier's.
- 46:35So maybe on a management, a lot of it, is this the system
- 46:39itself? Yes, live is based on the people
- 46:44who put in an input into what this becomes mmm.
- 46:49So, unfortunately we're saying here and we can 20/20 hindsight
- 46:55this all the way, but the real thing is, I really want what?
- 46:59I really would love to do is sit down with the in Engineers and
- 47:04the program itself and see all the all the coding that went
- 47:07into it because I want to see where everything's being put
- 47:10together. I want I want to see the
- 47:12calculation for every single slot on the 4241 a the 4241 em.
- 47:18I want to see the data that goes into it.
- 47:20I literally want the 750 pages per route of data that comes out
- 47:26of this this program because I guarantee you for 144 slots
- 47:31there 750 data For each route that I need to look at to see
- 47:36how it actually calculates, this and nobody has access to that
- 47:40not the union, not postal management, only the engineers
- 47:44and the people that were working closely to make this program,
- 47:48are the ones that have access to that, and I want to see that.
- 47:54And we should work. Never agree.
- 47:55We should never agreed until that was all visible to
- 47:59everybody. A lot of that is because of the
- 48:03arbitrator that created this system.
- 48:10It's just, I mean, there's no transparency.
- 48:13There's still no transparency. We don't know where some of
- 48:16these numbers are coming from or there.
- 48:18How they're configured, how you're getting certain coverage
- 48:22factors. You know, it's think about when
- 48:29we were at mid states Kristen and that Regional postal manager
- 48:33couldn't even put up rural numbers on the board.
- 48:37He could only put up City numbers because their systems
- 48:41don't handle rural mail. Although we get the same type of
- 48:44mail that City carriers do the same volumes of mail.
- 48:47Supposedly as City carrier, they can't give us our numbers.
- 48:51They have to show us City carrier numbers and then manager
- 48:54also even Even admitted that he didn't bother to train the
- 49:01district or local managers on Rex either, he was part of the
- 49:05problem because he knew Rex and he wasn't willing to pass that
- 49:09information down the chain. He's just as much culpable as
- 49:13anybody else in this whole system.
- 49:15Here's another question, what is daily activities on the 4241?
- 49:19A well, I went to the bathroom once.
- 49:22Ha ha. Ha.
- 49:27Just once huh? It is for 45 minutes it's girl
- 49:35and Facebook where, you know, I was watching the Moana for the
- 49:39183 third time, you know, Ransom loves that.
- 49:49I'm pulling up the chief here right now.
- 49:52I remember it but I don't remember it.
- 49:55Daily activities scanner, set up activities, complete trip report
- 50:01form, 42, 40, and end of shift office activities.
- 50:05So you're in the shift time will be in there all the time.
- 50:08You're doing safety service dogs.
- 50:11No. Safety service talks have their
- 50:13own Square, then what? It's under daily activities.
- 50:18If you look at your office volume, the rural route
- 50:22evaluation sheet, which is the 42 41.
- 50:26M, they have it underneath daily activities.
- 50:32Basically, it's your office time.
- 50:34Yes, yes. And the cliff notes version.
- 50:38Second question, from the same person.
- 50:40What's the current EMA rate? Great EMA, right?
- 50:43Is ninety one point five cents, per mile.
- 50:48Next adjustment will be first part of July.
- 50:54It released in about end of June mid to late June.
- 51:00Okay. Was there any other one that we
- 51:03missed? You got one that one I found.
- 51:08How do we handle getting jury duty?
- 51:16Twice on Facebook. I figured I'd throw it in there.
- 51:19So if we met somebody gets summoned for jury duty, how do
- 51:22you handle it management? And what is man plays supposed
- 51:25to do? I was a say, you are contact
- 51:29your clerk of the court and ask them to send a summons to you.
- 51:41You have to be, you have to be a full-time regular carrier to get
- 51:44jury duty pay though. We are only our see, it only get
- 51:52the get the RCA's, only get the day off for it.
- 51:55They don't get paid for it. Regular carriers to get paid for
- 51:58it. And when you get the jury duty,
- 52:02some did you give it to your supervisors, and go to go there
- 52:05for today? And when the court selects you
- 52:10or doesn't select you, if they don't select you, you turn
- 52:12around and you get your check from the court.
- 52:15And you give it to the post office in the post office.
- 52:17Pays you for the full day you for performing your jury duty
- 52:21service. If you're there for any more
- 52:23than one day than any check, you get from the court, goes to the
- 52:27post office and the post office, pays you, your full, repeal
- 52:30e-rate for every day, you serve on jury duty.
- 52:35And there is a DACA code for jury duty.
- 52:44All right, I have another one that I have found that was sent
- 52:47to us on Thursday. I know you guys are busy with
- 52:51your own disputes of stuff, but I can't get a clear answer.
- 52:54Is there any way to know if when the clerk's can Parcels under
- 52:59static during the week? If it still counts towards the
- 53:03route for office time? I number one, question is, why
- 53:06are clerk scanning Parcels under static during the week?
- 53:13By its side of the same questions.
- 53:15I have not heard anything in regards to a resolution to that.
- 53:21I know there was a step before that the union had put forward
- 53:26because anything that was scanned in as static or dynamic
- 53:33was not showing up in your numbers towards your route.
- 53:41You know, at Christmas time when they have The extra help come
- 53:44into just run Parcels. That's they would grow them
- 53:48under the static or dynamic routes.
- 53:52So they could just send the person out and it would give
- 53:56them the term, my turn for the whole, the whole, you know,
- 54:00regardless of what route that package came from.
- 54:04Like I said, I don't know if they've gotten that corrected,
- 54:06but I know there is a step. For ending being heard on that.
- 54:14Well, we also run into a problem when we're short of City
- 54:18carriers that in the, you know, when they're splitting up the
- 54:20routes, the clerks will turn around and do a static Run for
- 54:24the, the split routes, but we've come to an agreement.
- 54:27That the can't be done until all pars Parcels are processed for
- 54:31Rural NZ. Carrier says there's no
- 54:33confusion and no convolution of the Statics being put into the
- 54:39role of a at any time. Yeah.
- 54:42Number one, they shouldn't be scanning them in a static during
- 54:45the week. That's not good.
- 54:47I think if I remember they said something at mid states about
- 54:51how they were going to work on getting those packages at cursos
- 54:55time, put back into the route. What was going on with it?
- 54:59I do not know 100% so that's all I can say on that.
- 55:04And yeah they I would if you if you know for a fact that they're
- 55:09scanning them is static, they're in the way.
- 55:11Week, I would be getting a hold of your assigned.
- 55:15Union rep. For sure.
- 55:21This has been a big Hot Topic. I've seen coming around.
- 55:24Lately is Kristen, are we say, if possible on that, you know,
- 55:30get a hold of your District representative?
- 55:32Yes, it get it, you know, because that's something a
- 55:37couple. Oh, yeah.
- 55:39They may tell you, refer you back to you.
- 55:45But I would definitely. So, I have seen many posts.
- 55:59Lots of these social webs pertaining to all of this being
- 56:05an article 5 violation. The prohibition of unilateral
- 56:12action. Article 5 says, the employer
- 56:15will not take any actions, affecting wages hours and other
- 56:19terms and conditions of employment as defined in Section
- 56:238, D of the National Labor Relations Act, which violate the
- 56:27terms of this agreement or otherwise inconsistent with
- 56:30obligations under the law. Route.
- 56:37Evaluations do not fall under Article 5, unfortunately Article
- 56:455 would be a layoff Article 5 would be reading a table,
- 56:56another party table one on a table to without telling
- 57:00anybody, that sort of stuff, it would are cutting the hourly
- 57:05wages. Of RCA's without an agreement.
- 57:10That type of stuff would be what would fall under Article Five?
- 57:15Rowdy valuations do not ever have Deciding to cut our health
- 57:23care benefits would be an article 51 to say.
- 57:27That being said, the union did while unfair labor charges What
- 57:36exactly setting that? I don't know.
- 57:39You know, what grounds they had exactly with that.
- 57:44I can't speak for it. I wasn't there.
- 57:47I imagine any of that paperwork. So, but there is unfair labor
- 57:52charges that were filed against the post office by the.
- 57:55You also, I, another article 5 would be if they took it, if
- 58:02they took mail delivery from six to five days a week and it
- 58:06wasn't something it Yeah, right. Evaluations do not fall under
- 58:12Article, Five plain and simple self goodness.
- 58:18Exactly. Yo people would sit there and
- 58:25argue, well, hold on. They put this many mail survey
- 58:29and in fact, my wages, my hours and conditions of my employment,
- 58:33you know, but it all is falling within the terms of our
- 58:40agreement. Yeah.
- 58:42Since we have an agreement to the EM, you know, the Rex
- 58:45program and the mini mail surveys part of that, It is null
- 58:50and void in regards to affecting your wages and hours regarding
- 58:56the labor law. Because we have an agreement.
- 58:59In fact, with the post office that this falls under.
- 59:04On this latest contract does have the Rex system listed as
- 59:09its evaluation system for our page, Ms. It doesn't have any
- 59:14other way to do our evaluation besides the wreck system.
- 59:18Yep. Yeah.
- 59:19Unless, you know and everybody wants to take the hourly fight.
- 59:23Well, if you want to take it to being paid hourly if they were
- 59:26switch it to Hourly without it being negotiated.
- 59:29That would fall under Article 5, but unfortunately route.
- 59:35Evaluations going up going down. You're not, that's not a
- 59:42unilateral require unilateral action because the hell happened
- 59:49to the old count system anyway. Hmm, and then, I also know that
- 59:55the there is another part to that labor Recharge and that is,
- 59:59I'm not providing us training. That is one of the things that
- 1:00:03they're using in that labor charge.
- 1:00:05I've heard through the grapevine because they didn't properly
- 1:00:08trained us on the rec system, the Union's fighting for us, the
- 1:00:11not only get paid to get training, but maybe even work on
- 1:00:16compensation for our evaluations for not being trained.
- 1:00:19So hopefully that goes through sooner than rather than later,
- 1:00:23and then just like the contract, will wait eight months for them
- 1:00:27to Philippe it out. Yeah, I've seen another
- 1:00:30discussion that popped up about the LTM, not matching numbers,
- 1:00:35where they close one box. But when they get the final
- 1:00:38review at the end, it says there - five their LTM numbers, lower
- 1:00:43than their edit sheet. Always buy two boxes and they
- 1:00:46only have curbside. Oh, and if it's somehow, I would
- 1:00:51double check as you go and update, go through and make sure
- 1:00:57that That all your active boxes say active and not inactive,
- 1:01:02because it does happen in the system that if it's one of those
- 1:01:07boxes that gets a low volume of mail and is not service.
- 1:01:14Often enough during the week the system is automatically in
- 1:01:17activating it. So this is not not your at a
- 1:01:20book or anything like that. It is literally the computer
- 1:01:23saying well they're not getting mail other than these box
- 1:01:25holders. So we're going to inactivate it.
- 1:01:28I've got one of those on my route every month, I have to go
- 1:01:31in and reactivate it because all they get a box holders but they
- 1:01:35want their box holders, so it's an active box.
- 1:01:38Yeah, that would be the big on where your numbers aren't
- 1:01:42matching is. System is automatically in
- 1:01:45activating a box when it should be active, if it's active on
- 1:01:49your end, but it's, yeah, I've seen that.
- 1:01:52I actually have one that I have to inactivate all the time
- 1:01:55because it still pops up as active even though I have it
- 1:01:58inactive in my edit book and have for a while, it still will
- 1:02:02pop up as active and I just kind of laugh because they don't even
- 1:02:05have a mailbox. But the word would be placed if
- 1:02:12that was a mailbox that would go in would actually be under a
- 1:02:16mailbox grouping. Out of mail.
- 1:02:19Stop because they're all separate post but a mailbox
- 1:02:21grouping. I think that's what's keep
- 1:02:23kicks. It back active in the system.
- 1:02:30I want you to go back to where bills always fighting with
- 1:02:32management. Go right ahead, it's all yours.
- 1:02:38Makes me laugh because you know every day you know, it's about
- 1:02:44all. I mean, yeah, from people,
- 1:02:45working off the clock you come in, your DPS, has and up.
- 1:02:49And some carriers are over here to getting their DPS.
- 1:02:51And I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, go check with the supervisor, see
- 1:02:55if bad clerks available, if not, then they can get a sub to put
- 1:02:58it up on a yellow on the 13-14, a whatever.
- 1:03:01But, you know, don't handle it until you get authorization as,
- 1:03:05you know, you Crossing crafts and this mail supposed to be For
- 1:03:08us. Yeah, it's yeah, like the
- 1:03:11handoffs, okay. We inadvertently know which
- 1:03:16route is getting a hand off, you know it you know if I get a
- 1:03:19mistrial my hampered usually the route next to me or wanting a
- 1:03:22little across the way and we're not getting credit for that.
- 1:03:26So you know we turned around and said okay since we're not
- 1:03:28getting credit for this we're going to turn around and have a
- 1:03:31common area which we got time for the put mr.
- 1:03:34Owned parcels and then they come over and scream at you and say
- 1:03:38it's right next to you. Yes, I know that, but that's not
- 1:03:41where I'm supposed to put it. You know, if you're if you're
- 1:03:45gonna fight with management, you know, make sure you have the
- 1:03:49right footing to make your case that you have a solid argument.
- 1:03:53You know, people come in blue, clock in our scanners week.
- 1:03:57Then we do and make the manual entry on the 4240.
- 1:04:02Then you get your keys, you go out and you check your truck,
- 1:04:04you don't start it up and just, you know, okay, it starts up,
- 1:04:07you know, check your blinkers, check your wipers, check your
- 1:04:09worn once a week. Get somebody to check your
- 1:04:12backup lights, your brake. Not because you're paid to do
- 1:04:14that. Don't come at 10:30 and tell the
- 1:04:17supervisor, your truck won't start.
- 1:04:19Because then that's on you. And I can't I can't help you
- 1:04:23with that fight, but when it comes, to getting things fixed,
- 1:04:28okay? Now, we're now we have an
- 1:04:30argument. Now, we have, you know, a
- 1:04:32situation where you can get another truck and please for god
- 1:04:36sakes. Don't sit there and say, I want
- 1:04:39the truck. The sub has the truck is
- 1:04:42assigned to the route, not the carrier.
- 1:04:45Exactly end of statement period. There is no discussion They
- 1:04:53either have a truck or they don't have a truck that's on
- 1:04:55them. So when it comes to you
- 1:04:59confronting management, okay? Make sure, you know what you're
- 1:05:03confronting them about. Make sure that there are
- 1:05:06articles of disagreement vertica National agreement that you can,
- 1:05:11you know, show or you can come to me and I'll show them and
- 1:05:15illustrate, you know, we have people if you want to go back to
- 1:05:18this, the MMS, the mini mail survey and they want to
- 1:05:22question. Whether their management has
- 1:05:24been trained. Just point out that you BBM in
- 1:05:27the DPS that nobody knew all the way up the district and National
- 1:05:32level, whether we should be getting counted.
- 1:05:35So how is somebody going to sit there and tell me a local
- 1:05:38person? Had any idea about that
- 1:05:43management at the local level? For my experience, okay?
- 1:05:48For the most part are not there because of the fact that they're
- 1:05:51knowledgeable. They're there because they will
- 1:05:55do whatever it takes to keep their job.
- 1:05:57So they don't have to do a route.
- 1:06:01Management when they turn around and say, we have an open route
- 1:06:06and they walk away. They expect our subs to split
- 1:06:09the route up to figure out how to do it.
- 1:06:12That's a big No-No until you get directions from Management on
- 1:06:15what to do and what has to be done.
- 1:06:17And who's taking what do not volunteer to do it on your own?
- 1:06:21I know it's an inconvenience and it's taking a while for my
- 1:06:25office to come to this realization but it is
- 1:06:28Management's responsibility to dictate the terms.
- 1:06:31Terms of how to handle an open route.
- 1:06:36Management management management until you make them.
- 1:06:39Do their jobs, they're not going to do it. so every day, when I
- 1:06:45go in DPS is enough, I walk over and say, you have clerks for the
- 1:06:50DPS know, then I walk away I don't want to have another
- 1:06:55discussion beyond that and then when a carrier goes put up, no,
- 1:06:59you're not going to do that. We had a guy go out for 3 months
- 1:07:02because he tripped on the webbing and broke his hip.
- 1:07:07Don't do anything, you're not authorized to do, don't
- 1:07:11volunteer for anything like like our carrier discretion, wouldn't
- 1:07:16say Get it in writing, get round, stamped get it signed The
- 1:07:23proof is in the pudding folks and we know our jobs better than
- 1:07:27they know there's and every day I say we could work this post
- 1:07:32office day in and day out From Here to Eternity without
- 1:07:35management. They can't do it without us.
- 1:07:39I agree 100% of that. The only thing I would change of
- 1:07:45what you just said, is nobody love you.
- 1:08:09Where's the 1234? Yep.
- 1:08:13Hey Bill. This one's, this one's for you,
- 1:08:16Bill. I came across scrolling through
- 1:08:21the group here, just kind of going over stuff.
- 1:08:23It's been a while. I haven't been in, there's as
- 1:08:26much as I have in the past just because everything going on
- 1:08:30lately is lacking, you know, that insurance paperwork and
- 1:08:36stuff. Is there any scenario where the
- 1:08:39current and RLC a vice president has Not get voted in as
- 1:08:45president. No.
- 1:08:57Is there a current scenario that can can happen?
- 1:09:00Yes. But it hasn't happened.
- 1:09:05That's going to come down to how your delegation votes.
- 1:09:08Yep. And the people running and the
- 1:09:11be home, you voted to go to the delegation.
- 1:09:14Yes. And actually control the only
- 1:09:16way the vice president becomes president is if the president
- 1:09:21dies or resigns, and that is until there's a vote.
- 1:09:30Well this just says, where the the because the current vice
- 1:09:33president is running for president that we do know, does
- 1:09:37not get voted in as president that would all depend on.
- 1:09:41Who else runs for president? Now, if he was to go
- 1:09:46uncontested, it would be a unanimous, another hand-me-down
- 1:09:53position. Yes.
- 1:09:54Yes, if they are contested, then it will go to a vote and it's
- 1:10:02got to be a 230 two-thirds majority vote.
- 1:10:05Correct. Yes, yes, and secret ballot.
- 1:10:10Secret ballot. And that would depend on who you
- 1:10:14voted for as delegates, from your state, to go to Nacional
- 1:10:19and vote or anything these voting on, hmm. well, that would
- 1:10:27be the scenario would be you have the right delegates in
- 1:10:31there and the right people running that they vote for those
- 1:10:35running against That's the only scenario there is and with that
- 1:10:41in mind with 25 years experience in this in this Union, okay?
- 1:10:48I've never seen a situation where you just hand me down your
- 1:10:53position as much as this Union does.
- 1:10:56And we have followed the same path for 25 years as far as
- 1:11:00policy pay and everything else in regards to how the national
- 1:11:05board operates. Folks, it's got to change.
- 1:11:11We've got to get more protection for the carrier's.
- 1:11:14Whether Union or not, whether they, they're, they're active
- 1:11:17members or not. For people who are outspoken and
- 1:11:21the timid ones, we have to get more carrier protection out.
- 1:11:25There, there are. There are so many horror
- 1:11:27stories, about people being threatened, you know, discipline
- 1:11:33harangued work, the death that, you know, It breaks my heart to
- 1:11:38hear some of these things because of the fact that in my
- 1:11:41office, I don't let that happen. And, you know, it's a shame.
- 1:11:46Everybody doesn't have a Bill Maher or Kristin.
- 1:11:49He had to stand up for They just you need to step up and learn
- 1:11:55your stuff. You need to learn your craft.
- 1:11:57You need to learn your job and learn your duties as a rural
- 1:12:01carrier and not only protect yourself and protect your fellow
- 1:12:05carriers. If you know, something's not
- 1:12:07right. Talk with your fellow carriers
- 1:12:09and be like, look, this should be changed.
- 1:12:12Get your you get with your designated union, rep work with
- 1:12:15them. Get them involved in your
- 1:12:17office. Yourself within the contract
- 1:12:22confines because you are the union, whether you are
- 1:12:28dues-paying or non-news paying, you are the rural carrier Union.
- 1:12:32It is your duty. As a union, member to protect
- 1:12:36your job and your fellow carriers jobs, whether whether
- 1:12:41you like that person or not. Because if are there, if they're
- 1:12:45allowing management to do it managers going to say well so
- 1:12:49and so is doing it. Why can't you you know, it's
- 1:12:54funny because, you know, I compare the post office to the
- 1:12:58The View and Jerry Springer mixed into one but
- 1:13:22but you know, But I've never seen such a situation where I
- 1:13:32felt like I was back in school, you know?
- 1:13:34And and you had the resident bully and that's management if
- 1:13:39you don't if you don't stand up to the bully, they pick on
- 1:13:42everybody, especially the weak ones.
- 1:13:44You always pick on the weak ones.
- 1:13:46So we have to be the advocates for the victims and then we have
- 1:13:51to educate the victims, explain them.
- 1:13:53They explain to them, they have rights that they have you know,
- 1:13:57a contractual Agreement in there to prevent this type of
- 1:14:00harassment. This type of hostile work
- 1:14:03environment. They don't have to tolerate it
- 1:14:07and we have to stand up to the bullies.
- 1:14:11And I'll tell you what, I enjoy it.
- 1:14:15I'll do we all enjoy it. Here, we are on a holiday
- 1:14:20weekend, giving up our time to help you.
- 1:14:23Well, now it's time to help yourselves to Speaking of
- 1:14:28contractual rights and back to the mid states question.
- 1:14:33Was it asked? And or was anything said about
- 1:14:37the status of the arcane Okay. Yeah, I forgot that should not
- 1:14:56be named. Yeah, I think it went into the
- 1:15:00same file, receptacle that the database That was supposed to be
- 1:15:06on the NRL, see a website for everybody to view their route
- 1:15:10data went so shit. I don't I don't think I do Their
- 1:15:16server has enough capacity for that.
- 1:15:51I'm an RCA our office recently started doing Amazon Sundays,
- 1:15:56I'm sorry. I've been wondering about this,
- 1:15:59so they use two of us. Every Sunday and then a third
- 1:16:03has to be on the bubble, which means you have to get up and sit
- 1:16:07and watch the phone to see if you will be needed.
- 1:16:09So you can't make any plans for the day but you may end up not
- 1:16:13working or making a dime, either one of our city carriers
- 1:16:17mentioned. He thought we should have to be
- 1:16:19paid show up. All time or something like that.
- 1:16:22Now, whining. It is what it is, if it's part
- 1:16:24of the job, fine, just wondering if he's right since all of this
- 1:16:29is new in our office. Alright, Amazon Sundays, if
- 1:16:35you're not on the schedule and they don't call you on Saturday
- 1:16:39saying we need you tomorrow for Amazon, you're now sitting by
- 1:16:44the phone. If they are requiring you to sit
- 1:16:48by that phone, then you need to contact your union rep.
- 1:16:53And you need to get paid for a minimum of two hours to be on
- 1:16:58call. If they say you're scheduled to
- 1:17:05possibly come in but just wait for us to call, you know, if
- 1:17:10your scheduled you go in, they'll have to pay you two
- 1:17:14hours for you being scheduled to go in.
- 1:17:18Now, in my office, yo, when the sub is off on a Monday to
- 1:17:23Saturday, they've asked questions about that and there
- 1:17:28is no on call status. Okay, so if they don't call you
- 1:17:3215 minutes before the start of the shift or 15 minutes a
- 1:17:35started ship, you go enjoy your day when it comes to Amazon
- 1:17:40Sunday, if you're not on the schedule, you're not on the
- 1:17:43schedule. And if they call you, you don't
- 1:17:47have to pick up the phone, that's up to you.
- 1:17:49It's Carrie discretion. On pair of the postal manuals
- 1:17:54management is supposed to be in the office, prior to carrier
- 1:17:59arrival, to be able to tell who's going to be there and
- 1:18:03who's not be able to log in and check light blue and make sure
- 1:18:06that people didn't call off through the 800 number things
- 1:18:10like that and be able to call people.
- 1:18:12And that's what they're supposed to Liam 38, yes, supposedly.
- 1:18:19That's what they're supposed to do.
- 1:18:22But we all know management doesn't follow that either.
- 1:18:25So it's carrier discretion. Its carrier job job just working
- 1:18:33description states that you should be available upon short.
- 1:18:37Notice does not say that you are on call until such-and-such time
- 1:18:42or wait by your phone. Oh, if you're not scheduled, And
- 1:18:49like I said, they don't contact. Don't forget.
- 1:18:52Yeah. If they're going to force you to
- 1:18:54tell you that you need to wait for your by your phone and you
- 1:18:57need to be compensated for that. Imagine this example here of
- 1:19:03another Union that has in basically an on-call policy for
- 1:19:08their members and that's the railroad.
- 1:19:12One of the railroads has an on-call policy that we will call
- 1:19:15you and you have two hours to report.
- 1:19:19So even if you're doing something, you have two hours to
- 1:19:22show up at the facility. So, take with from that, what
- 1:19:28you will, but that's short notice.
- 1:19:32Yeah, being called protein called in being called in.
- 1:19:37Is part. Unfortunately, part of the RCA
- 1:19:40job is being called in, but sometimes life happens.
- 1:19:45And unfortunately, your life should come first before the
- 1:19:48post office because the post office was there before you
- 1:19:51joined in, in the post, office will be there after you leave
- 1:19:55your when you die or when life, part of leaving.
- 1:20:00But when you die, your manager is going to show up at your
- 1:20:02funeral and ask you why you're not at work?
- 1:20:04Yeah, I make big shoes on and leave.
- 1:20:06Slip to. Yeah.
- 1:20:08Yeah. I mean we have
- 1:20:23I remember this show is for entertainment purposes, only
- 1:20:29when I started there was another RCA. you was all one particular
- 1:20:39day morning and from he got up early, six hours, starting at
- 1:20:436:00, all the way up to eight thirty like every half hour
- 1:20:50called to see if they need them and they kept telling them no no
- 1:20:54no, no nose, go at 8:45, you decided to Go and do what he
- 1:21:01wanted to do for the day at 10:30.
- 1:21:04When the post office, supervisor tried calling them to have them,
- 1:21:07come in. And he didn't answer or told or
- 1:21:12no at that point because there's already in the middle of
- 1:21:16something. When she try it, when they try
- 1:21:19to discipline them for it. He's like I called you at 6:00
- 1:21:256:30, 7:00, 7:30 8:00 and 8:30. Why didn't you call it?
- 1:21:31Tell me coming in any of those six times.
- 1:21:33I called. See if you needed help. and was
- 1:21:37able to get out of it, but They expected him on that short
- 1:21:43notice to come in and, you know, if he did not answer for
- 1:21:48actually, I think he didn't answer the phone and they tried
- 1:21:50to ask him why he didn't answer his phone, that he was supposed
- 1:21:53to know, he was supposed to come in when they called him.
- 1:21:57But because he didn't answer, he was, they couldn't say he
- 1:22:00declined work. I loved ones that like that.
- 1:22:04There's slam dunks. Oh my God.
- 1:22:10All right, guys. Ready?
- 1:22:11Wind it down for this evening. Okay.
- 1:22:16Okay, so well, I was going to say none of us have to go to
- 1:22:21work tomorrow, but I actually do have to go to work tomorrow.
- 1:22:25I have to go case flats for 2 hours.
- 1:22:27So yeah, that's what I have to do tomorrow.
- 1:22:31So we'll try traffic, won't be bad.
- 1:22:34Yeah, I can walk to work, it's all good.
- 1:22:37Alright, certain the time we get out, so yeah, I get up early
- 1:22:43tomorrow and go down and clean the memorial grounds down there
- 1:22:47in West Town. So nice part of my service.
- 1:22:51Yeah, we have our Memorial Day parade starts at the time we get
- 1:22:55out from doing our thing. And of course, the parade route
- 1:22:59runs right in front of the post office.
- 1:23:01So, I think I just might walk tomorrow so I don't have to
- 1:23:08worry about traffic at all. Will you get done?
- 1:23:11You step outside. Watch the parade and then go
- 1:23:13home. Yeah, I can watch it as I walk
- 1:23:16home. Is that it's only what 2/10,
- 1:23:21maybe three tenths of a mile so it's all good.
- 1:23:28All right. Mike, any last bits from you
- 1:23:32tonight? But rather we should.
- 1:24:00Thank God. It's, so it's those people who
- 1:24:05made that sacrifice that provide us our freedoms today.
- 1:24:09So think about that tomorrow. Having steak week everyone.
- 1:24:14Thank you. Mike Josh.
- 1:24:21I would say, I don't know if I can top that.
- 1:24:26But it's not a competition. Yeah, I know.
- 1:24:32Yeah. Just, you know, keep in mind,
- 1:24:37however, you decide to celebrate Memorial Day.
- 1:24:40What it's, you know, the intent of vawa day, is to remember
- 1:24:46those. Who paid the ultimate sacrifice
- 1:24:49for the freedoms that we do have?
- 1:24:52Not looking forward to Tuesday. Try not to get overwhelmed.
- 1:24:57If you do take a step back, take a deep breath.
- 1:25:01And step back in there and have a good week, everyone.
- 1:25:05Ames. As everyone said, we're
- 1:25:09remembering those who chose to give the ultimate sacrifice were
- 1:25:14brave enough to give the ultimate sacrifice and we're
- 1:25:19willing to give the ultimate sacrifice No Matter What
- 1:25:24conflict whether the community supported at the time or not,
- 1:25:29they gave their lives for this country so that we may enjoy the
- 1:25:34simple things like this podcast. and it is to those, that we Get
- 1:25:42need to give the greatest respect those that gave the
- 1:25:46ultimate sacrifice. It's on that note on that note,
- 1:25:53I wish everybody a good week at work.
- 1:25:56If you have any problems or issues you need to talk with
- 1:25:59somebody about especially if issues arise like we talked
- 1:26:04about in the last podcast Reach Out fellow co-workers, your
- 1:26:10family or any of the other resources available.
- 1:26:16And just have a wonderful week, everybody and we'll see you in
- 1:26:19the next one. Builder.
- 1:26:23Your last final commentary for this evening?
- 1:26:26Well, you know how it's going to end it but after all those,
- 1:26:31yeah, we ever heard of men and women
- 1:26:52Sacrifice so much for people. They've never known never met.
- 1:26:58Never will meet people in the future and they've guaranteed us
- 1:27:03to the rights and freedoms that we enjoy every day.
- 1:27:08Even the ones that they wouldn't agree with it, didn't matter.
- 1:27:12And they paid the price for us to have these rights and
- 1:27:17freedoms. So use them judiciously, not
- 1:27:21viciously, not for your own self-interest.
- 1:27:25But for the common good of all men and women.
- 1:27:30Everybody. Remember the sacrifice and act
- 1:27:35accordingly. With that everybody be safe,
- 1:27:40Tuesdays and be heavy. Just remember you're the most
- 1:27:43important delivery of the day. Get home to your loved ones
- 1:27:47because people have laid their lives now.
- 1:27:50So that you can have the freedoms that you enjoy the job
- 1:27:54that you have and the family to go home to, and the family will
- 1:27:59never see again. With that.
- 1:28:01God bless you all. Thank you, guys could have said
- 1:28:06any of that better myself and on that note bill will not be
- 1:28:12joining us next weekend, you'll be missed, but please enjoy your
- 1:28:16cruise. Thank you.
- 1:28:20Santa Claus of Pickers. I am the continent asshole.
- 1:28:40I'm sorry. I went into a local store here,
- 1:28:42called boss Cobbs, which is a medium priced as department
- 1:28:48store. A lot of nice stuff in there,
- 1:28:50they are. First thing I do is I walk in, I
- 1:28:52find a male salesperson and I said, excuse me, I says where
- 1:28:57your thongs. He goes, oh, they're over in the
- 1:28:59shoe section, I said, no thongs. By the time I turned around my
- 1:29:05wife is already 30 feet away and this guy was giving me a look
- 1:29:11like get the hell away from me to get that.
- 1:29:16Best Nieto for the pool on the cruise ship.
- 1:29:19So baby it says skin tight. You can see my cellulite.
- 1:29:30Everybody. Stay safe.
- 1:29:35We'll be back - Bill. Next week.
- 1:29:39Men supposedly don't feel good night, everybody.
- 1:29:49Good night.
