- 0:03Speaker 1: The North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Oh right, Welcome back.
- 0:12Speaker 1: It's the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's the.
- 0:19Speaker 2: NFL Combine.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Go over it.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Go over the draft, maybe speculate a little bit on who's going to go where.
- 0:28Speaker 1: But as I got Jim Irino with me, yes, yes, the Fiske Show.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yeah, my boy Fiske Braden.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It is Fisk by the way I know, I know, I know, we call him Fiske, damn it.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but anyway he killed it yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 1: He just built off what he had already been Well, I mean think about a year ago.
- 0:58Speaker 1: He's at what?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Western Michigan?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And then he's going to transfer and he's now going to Looking at Notre Dame, looking at Florida State.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 2: He left Western Michigan looking at Notre Dame, looking at Florida State.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Either one is is you know, big stage, big time.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It looked like he was an NFL player all year.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 2: The, the numbers, you know the little numbers in the stat column, weren't showing up the first half of the season.
- 1:28Speaker 2: That was more just, you know, kind of luck of the draw man.
- 1:33Speaker 2: His impact was still really apparent when you watch games, go back and rewatch games.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And then he just, I mean he turned it up a notch.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I think he got as the season wore on.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He got more accustomed to it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well, he did great at the 40.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Right, right, I mean they do a thing in the combine and an.
- 1:56Speaker 1: RAS score.
- 1:58Speaker 2: You know it's called a relative athletic score.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, right, it's from one to 10.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Well, I'm sorry, 1.0 to 10.0.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 2:11Speaker 2: And Fisk scored 9.97.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Right, all right.
- 2:16Speaker 2: This is six out of 1620 defensive tackles since 1987.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Hmm, at the combine, six, okay.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Now you got to put it up against anybody else to see who those top five are, to see if they're, you know, actual dominant players, but the athleticism, I think, is what is eye opening Right, right, right, it jumps off the page yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And I don't think anybody expected that coming into.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Like you know, guys are coming into the comment like all right, man, you know, if he puts up, you know maybe good bench press numbers, or you know he runs something under five in the 40.
- 2:55Speaker 2: How about?
- 2:56Speaker 2: How about the shuttle?
- 2:57Speaker 1: Oh, dude, A 437 short shuttle.
- 3:00Speaker 1: That that's you know what Aaron Donald got 439.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so um it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Like I was saying, man, this combine is making me angry all over again.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh, just by watching what the defensive player and it's not just Fisk but they're waiting to prove on the field verse.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You know the loach, but the loach what the loach ran a 447.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's a good time.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah, little undersized.
- 3:31Speaker 2: He's undersized.
- 3:31Speaker 2: You played linebacker at 200 pounds, maybe a little bit over that 205 maybe, but it was a wrecking ball out there.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you what.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I think they make you know it'll be a box safety Somebody NFL special team Watch out for the first night.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I mean, fisk, is you know you that?
- 3:47Speaker 1: We asked you earlier in one of the earlier shows, um, if you thought he was going to be a first rounder, and you said no, which was you know?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Everybody probably would say that.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But after the senior bowl, after this combine performance, right, I think you get towards the end of that late first round, if somebody likes them right, there's got there.
- 4:10Speaker 2: There are guys, there are a few guys at the defensive tackle spot that are bigger.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, don't that don't lose a ton in athleticism.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You know, compared to Fisk, um, that I think will probably go over him, and then it just becomes a, you know, a team by team, Not everybody's taking a defensive tackle.
- 4:29Speaker 1: He's a four, seven eight.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, this guy's going to go, like I was saying, maybe the team like Baltimore that he's already interviewed with they sit there and decide you know what, instead of?
- 4:38Speaker 2: We're going to, we're going to trade back to like the second or third pick of the second round and just take them.
- 4:44Speaker 2: It'll be our first pick, but we just won't necessarily do it in round one.
- 4:48Speaker 2: That's the.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's also like that.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That supplemental round right after the first round in baseball, it's, it's.
- 4:56Speaker 1: He was he, so that might be another first run pick for the Knowles they knew they have.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I know the the.
- 5:03Speaker 1: The bonafide one that everybody has in all their mocks is Jared verse.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and he, he impressed.
- 5:09Speaker 2: We didn't do it.
- 5:10Speaker 2: He didn't do anything to to right.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Four, five, nine.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Right, all of the questions 30 reps.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Come on, strength the speed, strength the speed.
- 5:18Speaker 1: He's got the, the makeup, he's got the maturity.
- 5:21Speaker 2: What's helping him is that he compares almost, you know, in terms of the physical attributes and and his testing numbers, compares almost identically to Will Anderson Last year coming out of Alabama and that was the number three guy over.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I don't think verse will go that high, necessarily, but top 10, I mean you talk about last year in Europe.
- 5:43Speaker 2: So those two guys in particular in that championship game really just showed you that those guys are stars and they took over the game.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They could have done that to anybody Now.
- 5:55Speaker 1: They might not have, but they earned that right.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Right, they're showing.
- 5:59Speaker 2: they're going to show out right here, Right and you and love it.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, love it.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Fabian love it Also showing at the combine 319 pounds Right.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Dude, oh I, you don't question him either.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I mean, this is a guy who puts it all out there, or his team, who came back, you know to, to go undefeated and a shot at championship.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll.
- 6:21Speaker 1: we'll see what the cause they probably going to ask those guys why didn't you play in the orange bowl?
- 6:25Speaker 1: You know that's got to be a question that they're going to get.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Right, I think they even they asked.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I know they asked love it.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I know he's on record with his answer and it did we yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he told you right here.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It was the same thing he's been saying.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You know, like I didn't.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I came back to go to a bowl game or anything.
- 6:42Speaker 2: We came back, made the sacrifice Right To go to the playoff and we did everything we needed to do.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 6:49Speaker 1: They earned the right man.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You can see the talent.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the speed man.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Speed, power, both of those things, and a lot of them talking about, you know, coming to Florida state and and it being, you know, that's what made them kind of take it to that next level being around each other watching how everybody else was putting in the work.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So it all of the guys that we, the same since, since Mike showed up yeah, that's what a baby.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And told us Right and the same stuff he's doing now the same stuff they're doing.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That's why you got to feel good moving forward, that even through a tough battle like that, you got the right guy at the job to lead and love.
- 7:32Speaker 2: It was was.
- 7:32Speaker 2: You know he was a transfer but he was well through the people that know, know, and that team's going to be highly regarded.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It'll be forgotten on a broad scale, but it'll never be forgotten.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I mean the team that never.
- 7:47Speaker 2: They'll be guys they'll be guys in the NFL for years to come, you know, especially on the defensive side.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Playing off from that team, I'm anxious to see what the offensive guys do today.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I don't know who's doing what.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Speaking of which, it looks like we don't know yet what's gonna happen, but everybody says that Caleb Williams is gonna go number one to the Bears.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Are they pretty much consensus on that now?
- 8:14Speaker 2: Is that what everybody wants?
- 8:15Speaker 1: That's what they're all proclaiming and waiting to see here trap.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's.
- 8:22Speaker 2: What do you do there?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if everybody wants to get Caleb Williams, you obviously gotta trade Justin Fields.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I think the issue becomes who wants them?
- 8:34Speaker 2: Are you gonna get what you want for them?
- 8:38Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think you're getting a first round pick.
- 8:40Speaker 1: You might get quarterbacks one, two, three.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Then yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Who's gonna be the second quarterback?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Who's gonna go to Washington then?
- 8:47Speaker 1: Is it gonna be, you know, is it gonna be Drake May, or is it gonna be the Heisman winner?
- 8:56Speaker 2: I mean, it's a tough spot you just drafted in North Carolina quarterback.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You gonna bring Drake to relieve Sam of his duties.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I think you gotta go, Daniels man, if you're deciding between the two.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Well, they said they need a.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They said is Kingsbury the coordinator in there?
- 9:23Speaker 2: I believe, so I don't know man.
- 9:26Speaker 1: You keep up on the commanding coordinators.
- 9:28Speaker 2: On the Cares who's the?
- 9:30Speaker 1: coach.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Well, that's 12 dudes in the combine.
- 9:34Speaker 1: They're all doing well.
- 9:35Speaker 1: No surprise there Putting in work.
- 9:37Speaker 1: They've been doing that the whole time here.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's why they had a good year.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It wasn't for one guy.
- 9:43Speaker 2: No, it was a bunch of NFL guys, right.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, in this kind of setting in the combine outside of the 40, I think Travis would probably be one of the guys that did pretty pedestrian compared to his peers, oh man, but he's so.
- 10:03Speaker 2: No, he throws good deep balls Plus leadership.
- 10:07Speaker 1: That don't it's not that you don't wanna not take anything away from Jordan Travis.
- 10:12Speaker 1: He's an all-timer, he's a leader.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Right, it's just in this setting.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I mean outside of him running the 40.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And I you can just see how good this team was and why FSU fans are so upset Right, and they will be NFL players all over the field, and this will be just like and they'll never go away.
- 10:29Speaker 2: No, it's not going away.
- 10:30Speaker 1: You can say anything you want about the Orange Bowl.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Right it.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Just to me it's kind of, you know, it's just interesting that for some reason there was this narrative that Florida State did it, went undefeated, differently than, say, michigan or Washington.
- 10:50Speaker 2: It's not cause they have a bunch of NFL guys, it's just cause they had their, you know, their quarterback was really good.
- 10:55Speaker 2: He's leading them through the season Right, and you got 12 guys who aren't the quarterback Clear narrative.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It was ridiculous, but hey, let's move on.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Let's move on, man.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Move on.
- 11:09Speaker 1: The offense.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Bristol, Connecticut.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Open up an armory store right across the street.
- 11:17Speaker 1: No, just doing what you do.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I mean there's no commissioner.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So I mean it's just a matter of time for the big 10 and the SEC break off.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And when's the next big move?
- 11:29Speaker 1: You know is, is ESPN and the SEC ever gonna be?
- 11:35Speaker 1: I don't think, and that's too ugly to even link that relationship between FSU and ESPN.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Well, I was thinking about they've essentially already broken off.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Right, like what you know.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Let's just think about it.
- 11:50Speaker 2: They're going and taking teams from other conferences as they see fit.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Right, tennessee, you know the SEC Tennessee pretty much told the NCAA that they can.
- 12:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And that's gonna be.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I think that's gonna be the two conferences they're gonna get up and say that it's just where everyone's they're both pushing now for more guaranteed spots in the playoff.
- 12:13Speaker 2: It's it's like it's all but a formality at this point, like they have broken away.
- 12:22Speaker 2: They've they've backroom brokered themselves deals with two different networks that are gonna, you know, pay them more than anybody, right?
- 12:31Speaker 2: So, yeah, they're the two big powers right now and so great feels great to be here, still have to play the games.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Still have to play the games.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Well, yeah, the game's coming out and you still have to keep it going.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Acc is gonna happen next year, as we as when the schedule's out.
- 12:55Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean they're, you know they're gonna keep going like it's all all.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I don't think that Florida State's gonna get out of the ACC before next football season.
- 13:04Speaker 2: That's just, that'd be.
- 13:05Speaker 2: That's crazy, no 25.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Possible, but I still, even then.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I think that's just.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yeah, now something maybe, yeah being optimistic Cause, even if they come to a conclusion, even if a judge comes out and says you know what, right, I agree with the FSU, espn, acc guys and get, get F'd.
- 13:23Speaker 2: That's what it'll say.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exactly what it'll say.
- 13:27Speaker 1: You're gonna write that up you dang suckers can get F'd yeah, okay.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But as the worldwide leader, they won't.
- 13:33Speaker 2: No dude, as the worldwide leader, they will do a bunch of appealing and try to keep it in court as long as they can, and vice versa, if Florida State loses, they'll do that as long as they can.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I mean, it's nothing quick, man.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Lawyers are gonna get paid for a long time, both sides.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Till then we'll just have to keep eating that, that a turd sandwich and basketball Like hoops yeah, man.
- 14:03Speaker 1: It's, oh, man, it's, it's this where it is tomorrow.
- 14:06Speaker 1: They won live, they won.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Right, right, no, no, you can.
- 14:13Speaker 2: You can tread water.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I mean you can tread water.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Just don't expect any tag team back again.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Man, you know there's no Trent Forrest walking through the door.
- 14:23Speaker 1: They got the yellow jackets.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Right In Atlanta.
- 14:26Speaker 1: In Atlanta noon, it was noon.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Noon Nooner On ESPN Deuce.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think Might be the, might be the big ESPN, I don't know, but I look forward to watching it, watching Damon Staudemire coaches, coaches.
- 14:41Speaker 2: And then coaches team Two different huddles at the timeouts.
- 14:45Speaker 2: People play play close attention to that.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, A unique coaching style for Damon.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So what do you think about James?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Booty.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, man, and do you think?
- 15:05Speaker 1: He should be a starter in this league.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Should be.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I mean, do I think that he deserves the chance to at least try?
- 15:16Speaker 1: outside when I see some of the quarterbacks that he started at.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I mean, I think he could probably be a starter.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I mean with the right fit.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And then I start to think you know, if nobody wants him to start, I guess go back to New Orleans.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I mean, we're family.
- 15:30Speaker 1: But if you want to look for a chance to start, pittsburgh would be a winning atmosphere, a culture that he could go take a part of now.
- 15:39Speaker 1: As far as weapons, though, if you went to Vegas you got some receivers right away.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and you got well, tony O'Hall, and we got nobody's making it, nobody's, nobody's coming to that until after the draft.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I know.
- 15:52Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You got Denver.
- 15:55Speaker 2: But Denver would be, denver would be.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Just because you know they.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He's not going to do it, russell Wilson, he's done it before.
- 16:04Speaker 1: James, he got hurt and they were on their way to a good season.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Right, I don't know man, but I legitimately for me, I, I, I would not shock me if it's it's a question with him, is just like you know.
- 16:20Speaker 2: It's not really worth it, you know, right, no, I think he wants to start.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure he does.
- 16:25Speaker 2: He's offered a chance to go, but if not he'll take.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I mean, he's going to try to get a job.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but he gets more airtime now than than a large percentage of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, yeah, I know, but as a competitor you want to have, if that you.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Right, I get it.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Want to try to win, I get it, he wants to there's probably that and he's probably.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I bet he weighs that all the time but and he's- not.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I mean there's a lot of people that think that and they never.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And then I definitely think that he's.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He's uh, he's not somebody that's just going to jump on any, any opportunity thrown his way.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Well, unless it's like a guarantee, bro, you come here now your QB one, no questions asked, We'll put it in writing that you're you're starting your, your QB one.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But I don't think he's getting any of those.
- 17:13Speaker 2: We'll see Opportunity now like, for instance, let's say hypothetically, sean Payton, denver is like how many quarterbacks?
- 17:20Speaker 1: Well, there's going to be guys like bonix, JJ McCarthy.
- 17:24Speaker 1: You know those guys are probably going to go in the first round.
- 17:28Speaker 1: They're not going to go right up, They'll probably go middle of the first round.
- 17:30Speaker 2: There's guys every year Once they have.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You know, someone's going to trade up to like 10 or nine or something, and take one of them, and you know that that'll happen.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I could so.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Right, um, that that's but one team's not going to get the QB.
- 17:49Speaker 2: There's always one team that doesn't get Get that guy.
- 17:54Speaker 2: That's what you look for.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Is it going to be a place that maybe James wouldn't have any interest, or is it going to be, you know?
- 18:05Speaker 1: Cleveland.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I mean you see a guy like Jaden Daniels and he's got what better throwing ability, would you say, than a Lamar Jackson?
- 18:15Speaker 1: Hmm, let's look at the receivers that he had right and you can see him.
- 18:22Speaker 1: If you go to any mock draft, there's like three wide receivers from LSU and in the first round, right, and that's ridiculous.
- 18:29Speaker 1: So you can see why he won the Heisman.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It means, obviously, freak him an athlete.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he had freaks of freaks on the edge and no defense to stop anybody.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Well, um, they were a mess last year, but that offense was unstoppable, say for one half.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Exactly, though, but that's going to be closer to what you see maybe in the pros.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Right, um, I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That's a really good question.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Is he a?
- 19:01Speaker 2: little bit more polished of a pastor than you.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Got that explosive ability, and that's an extra that you can't.
- 19:07Speaker 1: When the play breaks down, he can run and he can do stuff that's easy.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I don't know that he's hurt.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I mean, dude, he can.
- 19:16Speaker 2: He can run like he.
- 19:17Speaker 2: He might be closer to as fast as Lamar Jackson is people than people think, but I still I would take Lamar Jackson over him in the open field with the ball in his hand, um, but yeah, maybe a little bit better of a pastor or polished.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I don't know, though, we'll see.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you're playing with an NFL offense in college, even in the SEC.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Well, you gotta get on out of here, man.
- 19:54Speaker 1: You gotta see some offensive potential.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Baseball, baseball, baseball, man.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Spring training, college baseball underway Wing the bat.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Nose is off to a hot start.
