Piping Plovers Return to Wisconsin Point | Minneapolis News
For the first time in 49 years, piping plovers are nesting on Wisconsin Point—a huge win for conservation. Thanks to a $4.5 million collaboration between the Army Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Wisconsin DNR, a new habitat was built using dredged harbor material. The area is now off-limits to the public from April to August to protect nesting birds.
