Latest / Hawk Talk / Recapping Week 3: Seahawks vs. Saints
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You were listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide
- 0:03Speaker 1: receiver Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's
- 0:08Speaker 1: your host. That's a Chope.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks beat
- 0:14Speaker 2: the Saints forty four to seventeen.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Bump.
- 0:16Speaker 2: It was a beatdown at Loomenfield. The Seahawks were fired
- 0:20Speaker 2: on all three phases of the game. We're gonna get
- 0:22Speaker 2: into all the action that happened, Bump, But I'm sure
- 0:25Speaker 2: you're familiar with all the memes out there that are
- 0:26Speaker 2: like the Seahawks have literally never played a normal game,
- 0:29Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Or people's heart rates always
- 0:31Speaker 2: through the roof during Seahawks game.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that was not the case on Sunday. Oh No.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It started off quick too. Man. They look good. They
- 0:38Speaker 1: look good, like you said, the.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Kicking game, the return game, offense, defense, complete team winning
- 0:43Speaker 3: and you felt it. During the postgame, Mike McDonald was
- 0:45Speaker 3: a little more relaxed after that one. Typically win or loss,
- 0:49Speaker 3: there's a sternness too him. He loosened up just a
- 0:51Speaker 3: little bit.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I think the only time I was nervous at any
- 0:54Speaker 2: point in the game was the first fourth down when
- 0:56Speaker 2: the ball was in the air. Yeah, but of course
- 0:58Speaker 2: Kobe Bryan gets over that makes the play. From that
- 1:00Speaker 2: second on, it was like this is this is great.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I would love to beat teams forty four to seventeen
- 1:04Speaker 2: every week. And like Mamba as a player, this is
- 1:06Speaker 2: one of those where like when you go into film,
- 1:08Speaker 2: you're going.
- 1:09Speaker 1: To film confidence. Oh you half in I can't wait
- 1:11Speaker 1: to see.
- 1:12Speaker 2: This play instead of being like, man, I hope they'll
- 1:14Speaker 2: show play forty You know what I'm saying.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So we'll get right into it with what had happened.
- 1:20Speaker 2: See what happened was what had happened at first was
- 1:23Speaker 2: what happened was on Hawk Talk. But Seahawks left no
- 1:27Speaker 2: doubt with an impressive beatdown of the Northern Saints and
- 1:29Speaker 2: Lewinfield all three phases of the game as you mentioned it,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but it was led by the special teams unit.
- 1:33Speaker 1: We'll get all into that.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The first half, the Saints led time possession twenty two
- 1:37Speaker 2: nineteen to seven forty one. Man, if you're looking at
- 1:40Speaker 2: the box score, you think the Seahawks are getting dominated,
- 1:42Speaker 2: that wasn't the case. They were somehow down thirty two
- 1:45Speaker 2: points at the half. On the first possession of the game,
- 1:48Speaker 2: Seahawks forced a turnover on downs and that was It
- 1:50Speaker 2: was pretty much all Seahawks after that. The offense picked
- 1:53Speaker 2: up where they left off in Pittsburgh, going six plays
- 1:55Speaker 2: fifty five yards, ending with a twelve yard touchdown at JSN,
- 1:58Speaker 2: his first touchdown in the season. That made the score
- 2:01Speaker 2: seven zero, and the Seahawks were helped by unnecessary roughness
- 2:03Speaker 2: penalty on third down, which just thended to drive.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the Saints will go three and out on the
- 2:07Speaker 3: next drive. They were going to attempt a touch push
- 2:10Speaker 3: on fourth but false stars. Man, they had a bunch
- 2:12Speaker 3: of penalties in that first quarter. Goodness gracious, and then
- 2:15Speaker 3: Tory Horden caught a punt and took it back ninety
- 2:18Speaker 3: five yards. It's the longest pump returning franchise history. That
- 2:22Speaker 3: made the score fourteen to zero. The next drive full
- 2:25Speaker 3: of false stars holding penalties, the Saints will have to
- 2:27Speaker 3: punt again and disaster will strike again. D Anthony Bell,
- 2:30Speaker 3: come on, we'll come off the edge block the punt.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Chazz surrats, I'm getting it right. Chas, I got you. Baby,
- 2:36Speaker 3: tried to pick it up and he was he felt
- 2:38Speaker 3: the excitement. He was like I'm gonna get some free
- 2:40Speaker 3: money right now. Tried to pick the ball up, couldn't
- 2:42Speaker 3: do it, fell on the rock, but set up this
- 2:45Speaker 3: next short easy drive.
- 2:46Speaker 2: No love it, love it you having the Anthony and
- 2:48Speaker 2: Bell teach shape, just taking it right off the foot.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And as a defender, I think everyone's been there at
- 2:52Speaker 2: some point. You practice the drill back in the day,
- 2:54Speaker 2: if you're like a city or country ball and you
- 2:56Speaker 2: practice it with your feet off the side, scooping it up.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But once you're in the game in I thinks bouncing tough.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's happening quick.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But he bawled out for sure, and we'll talk about
- 3:03Speaker 2: him a little bit later. The Seahawks, like you said,
- 3:05Speaker 2: to find the en zone. Two plays later, ken Walker
- 3:06Speaker 2: runs in it for three yards out, making the score
- 3:08Speaker 2: twenty one to zero.
- 3:09Speaker 1: In the first quarter.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Saints would finally get on the board sixteen plays sixty
- 3:13Speaker 2: five yard drive, settling for a field goal. Then again
- 3:15Speaker 2: special teams comes up big again. Shout out Drek Young
- 3:18Speaker 2: took the ensuing kickoffs goree sixty yards and with a
- 3:22Speaker 2: short field, Seahawks are in the end zone. Three plays later,
- 3:24Speaker 2: when Sam Darnold found Tory Horton for a fourteen yard
- 3:26Speaker 2: touchdown that made the score twenty eight to three.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and I seeing Derek young Man gets some love.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He's on this team for a reason. He hang around
- 3:33Speaker 3: for a reason, and that's one of them. In Big
- 3:35Speaker 3: ups tory, the Saints will go three and out on
- 3:37Speaker 3: their next drive and the Seahawks will really put the
- 3:39Speaker 3: nail in the coff and they go seventy six yards
- 3:42Speaker 3: on just four plays and cap up the drive with
- 3:44Speaker 3: a one yard touchdown by Ken Walker which made the
- 3:46Speaker 3: score thirty five to three. This was set up by
- 3:49Speaker 3: forty five yard completion. The JSM will break that down
- 3:52Speaker 3: later during the film study. I'm after Saints miss field goal,
- 3:55Speaker 3: both teams with trade made field goals and going to
- 3:57Speaker 3: halftime with the Seahawks up thirty five to three.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was it was. It was at a hand,
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's not the final score and that's halftime.
- 4:06Speaker 2: No awxord to add field goals in the first possession,
- 4:09Speaker 2: second half saying early to forty four to six, and
- 4:11Speaker 2: that was it. Saints getting the end zone late make
- 4:13Speaker 2: it a little closer. Uh, And it was wow. I
- 4:17Speaker 2: mean again, we talked about it, the comfortability in the
- 4:20Speaker 2: postgame show with a game with that score unreal. The
- 4:23Speaker 2: Seahawks scored on the first seven possessions at the first
- 4:26Speaker 2: time in franchise history.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's domination right there. Domination.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Seahawk scored thirty eight first half points, was the third
- 4:31Speaker 2: most in franchise history. Yesterday was also the fifth time
- 4:34Speaker 2: in franchise history, first since the Super Bowl. You're in
- 4:36Speaker 2: twenty thirteen holding opponents to seventeen points or less than
- 4:39Speaker 2: each of the first three games of a season.
- 4:41Speaker 1: The boys are balling.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Out domination seventeen points. I told uh Stacey and our show,
- 4:46Speaker 3: I go, well, if they can whole teams to seventeen points,
- 4:48Speaker 3: I like our chances to get to the conference finals. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I think are the championship game excuse the conference championship game.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Well, you're probably gonna lead.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You're probably gonna lead the NFL in scoring defense like
- 4:57Speaker 2: the Seahawks did during the dominant era. If you're giving
- 4:59Speaker 2: up that any points per game, So very cool thing
- 5:02Speaker 2: and SEATFFS defense did a great job holding Alvin Kamara
- 5:04Speaker 2: to forty two yards on eighteen carries. A great day
- 5:07Speaker 2: at the offense bump. But what you learned, what was
- 5:08Speaker 2: the biggest thing that you learned from Sunday.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Young guys are making plays and the unknowns right the
- 5:15Speaker 3: the de Anthony's the Kendrick Tyle Kotta had a big
- 5:19Speaker 3: hit on one of their players, Tory Horden. It's just
- 5:23Speaker 3: it's nice to say names that people aren't too familiar with,
- 5:26Speaker 3: Like you know these names, but you're not relying on
- 5:29Speaker 3: these names, so show the depth. The secondary is deep too, man,
- 5:32Speaker 3: with all those guys being out, everybody was making plays.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Big up the job too. Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Absolutely, when you said depth, that was the thing I
- 5:38Speaker 2: was gonna say. And the cool thing about it is
- 5:40Speaker 2: Mike McDonald ad everyone on the defensive staff is gonna
- 5:43Speaker 2: have a great problem to have when everybody's healthy again.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Because everyone on the field is making plays.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And speaking of making plays, playmakers, playmakers. Starting with the quarterback,
- 6:02Speaker 2: Sam Donald had an incredibly efficient day, going fourteen of
- 6:05Speaker 2: eighteen two hundred and eighteen yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions,
- 6:08Speaker 2: taking care of the football, which I love. The last
- 6:10Speaker 2: six quarters he's played, he's been killing it. Donald had
- 6:12Speaker 2: a passer rating of one to fifty four point two,
- 6:14Speaker 2: which is second highest passer rating a franchise. His Sea
- 6:16Speaker 2: behind Russell Wilson, who had a perfect score of one
- 6:18Speaker 2: to fifty eight point three.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So just leve what we're seing from Donald. He is playing.
- 6:22Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about this a little bit later, but
- 6:23Speaker 2: I feel like he's just he doesn't get as much
- 6:25Speaker 2: credit as he.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Deserves for being elusive. He makes a lot of plays
- 6:28Speaker 1: within the pocket.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'm not talking about running forty yards up and down
- 6:30Speaker 2: the sideline, but he's making plays. If there's a free rusher,
- 6:32Speaker 2: he spends out making a lot of plays. So level
- 6:34Speaker 2: we've seen from him.
- 6:35Speaker 3: He's only been sacked three times this year too, only
- 6:37Speaker 3: three times. It's like the third least, I believe out
- 6:40Speaker 3: of all the guys who have played in three games.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Sam Donald is elusive and a big up to that
- 6:44Speaker 3: old line too. And Jayson got it done as well.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Five receptions, ninety six yards, one touchdown, first touchdown of
- 6:50Speaker 3: the season.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It felt like he already had one for some reason.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Jayson now has one hundred and eighty five catches, passing
- 6:55Speaker 3: Corn Robinson for fourth most in the players first three
- 6:58Speaker 3: seasons in franchise history. Was four yards away from one
- 7:01Speaker 3: hundred yards man That would have been three consecutive games
- 7:04Speaker 3: with one hundred yards, I would have tied the franchise record.
- 7:06Speaker 3: They must not have been aware. There's no way, Kobyak said,
- 7:10Speaker 3: you know, I forget your six yards that you need
- 7:12Speaker 3: at the half to go get this number here. They're
- 7:15Speaker 3: more focused on getting the win, getting guys out healthy.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I get it, but I wanted him to get that record.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Man. I was sick. I was sick when the starters
- 7:22Speaker 1: came to the sidelines. I'm like, Chason is so close. Yep.
- 7:25Speaker 2: But like I said at the beginning of the year,
- 7:26Speaker 2: so far, through three games, I feel like it's holding true.
- 7:28Speaker 2: He's on pace, I said, I think he's gonna break
- 7:31Speaker 2: DK meatcaff single season record for receiving yards in a season,
- 7:34Speaker 2: and he's ready, in great shape to break that record.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Now he has to get a thousand yards in the
- 7:39Speaker 2: last you know, fifteen fourteen games of the year.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel pretty good about that. Good about it.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Secondly, receiver in the game right now, behind Pooka Nicole's crazy,
- 7:47Speaker 3: NFC West has the top three receivers in a game
- 7:49Speaker 3: right now.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You got Puka, we got Jason and piersol Oh.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but receivers in this division are going crazy. Then
- 7:55Speaker 2: look at ken Walker. He's not gonna will you with yards.
- 7:57Speaker 2: He had thirty eight yards on sixteen carries, but he
- 7:58Speaker 2: did have two touchdowns, some tough, hard fight yards. He
- 8:01Speaker 2: needs two more touchdowns to pass Sherman Smith for fifth
- 8:03Speaker 2: place on Seatle's all time rushing touchdowns list with twenty nine.
- 8:07Speaker 2: We'll talk about this a little bit more too. The
- 8:08Speaker 2: run game on Sunday statistically wasn't great. I feel like
- 8:12Speaker 2: they didn't run a ton of plays, hard to get
- 8:14Speaker 2: in a rhythm. The type of game that was played
- 8:16Speaker 2: is hard to judge the run game on it, but
- 8:18Speaker 2: either way, I love ken Walker getting in the end zone.
- 8:20Speaker 3: The run game was more effective than the numbers are
- 8:23Speaker 3: going to tell you because it influenced that second level.
- 8:26Speaker 3: They were adding guys to the box to stop the run,
- 8:28Speaker 3: which opened up some passing layers behind it.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So it was effective just in a different way.
- 8:32Speaker 3: You're not gonna see it with the yards, but you
- 8:33Speaker 3: see how the defense played it open some other guys up,
- 8:36Speaker 3: like this guy, Tory Horden. Three receptions for thirty two
- 8:39Speaker 3: yards and one touchdown. Ninety five yard punt returned, the
- 8:42Speaker 3: longest Enfranchise history first pump return for a touchdown since
- 8:45Speaker 3: Tyler Lockett in twenty fifteen.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Can't believe it's been ten years.
- 8:49Speaker 3: He became the third player in Seahawk's history to record
- 8:51Speaker 3: a receiving touchdown and a pump return touchdown in the
- 8:54Speaker 3: same game. My teammate Bobby Ingram did it in two
- 8:56Speaker 3: thousand and three, and Joey Galloway did it again Sandy
- 9:00Speaker 3: in nineteen ninety eight. He's already doing some things that
- 9:04Speaker 3: a many haven't done wearing his uniform.
- 9:06Speaker 1: No, I love Tory Orton. He coming out of college.
- 9:08Speaker 2: He had that injury, which thankfully not because he was
- 9:11Speaker 2: injured but not allowed to see how to gedum where
- 9:13Speaker 2: they did.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And he's a hell of a player. He's quick. I love.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I love having a potential threat, like a real threat
- 9:18Speaker 2: on punt return.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, not just being like, man, I'm happy that we've
- 9:21Speaker 1: received it. Just a possession guy.
- 9:22Speaker 2: No, someone's gonna make people miss and we got to
- 9:24Speaker 2: see them full. Just play on Sunday. Then shout out
- 9:27Speaker 2: to the secondary. We kind of mentioned it, Josh Job.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I've heard you say it multiple times. He is playing
- 9:31Speaker 2: the most technically sound of anybody in the secondary. You
- 9:34Speaker 2: just put on Josh Job tape. If you're a young
- 9:36Speaker 2: corner out there and just learn, because he the way
- 9:39Speaker 2: he's moving his sands away, he's mirroring guys and he's
- 9:41Speaker 2: being physical. I don't know if I noticed that came
- 9:43Speaker 2: across the tape to me. Eleven tackles, one pass defending.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But every time he's hitting people, they're getting hit. Yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So he's bringing his shoulders,
- 9:49Speaker 2: So I love that. And then Darien Kendrick, all he
- 9:52Speaker 2: does is around the football. He would love to have
- 9:54Speaker 2: a couple of interceptions, and I think he'll bring those down,
- 9:56Speaker 2: but he's still two interceptions. He had four tackles, three
- 9:58Speaker 2: passes defendant, and one pick against the Saints. And when
- 10:02Speaker 2: you're in the right position and you're doing we're supposed
- 10:05Speaker 2: to do, the ball is gonna find you. And Kenny
- 10:06Speaker 2: is a perfect example of that. Five passes defended on
- 10:09Speaker 2: the year so far leads the team. Two interceptions so
- 10:12Speaker 2: far leads the team.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Thank you, Rams, We appreciate your your contributions to the secondary.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Next time we got Byron Murphy. He had a quiet,
- 10:20Speaker 3: good game. You know, a typical defensive lineman game. If
- 10:23Speaker 3: you ain't getting sacks like that, which he did get
- 10:25Speaker 3: one sack. People ain't gonna notice you, but he had
- 10:27Speaker 3: one sack, three tackles, one TfL, one QB hit, and
- 10:31Speaker 3: he wins the Biggest Chain award for post game. That
- 10:35Speaker 3: that chain, that Cuban link is Cuban Lincoln for.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Sure, well Byron Murphy always flagged out for sure. And lastly,
- 10:41Speaker 2: see our special teams. I mean, if I'm Jay Harbaugh,
- 10:45Speaker 2: I'm walking around this building by chest puffed out because
- 10:47Speaker 2: his team balled out.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I love what we saw.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Horton's ninety five yard punt turn touchdown, danteony Bell blocks
- 10:53Speaker 2: a punt, Drake Young six yard kickoff return, Myers three
- 10:55Speaker 2: for three on field goals, five for five on pats
- 10:58Speaker 2: forty six average by Dixon on I mean, you're almost
- 11:01Speaker 2: never The only thing we didn't do is block a
- 11:03Speaker 2: pine that for a kick. I mean love what we
- 11:05Speaker 2: saw from that unit. That special teams are a third
- 11:08Speaker 2: of the game. I know we don't spend a lot
- 11:10Speaker 2: of time talking about them, but guys in this building,
- 11:12Speaker 2: guys on this team take pride on it. A lot
- 11:13Speaker 2: of guys make a living off of special teams. So
- 11:16Speaker 2: I love to see what they're doing there, bump. Let's
- 11:19Speaker 2: flip it over to the wide receivers. I love a
- 11:21Speaker 2: lot of people on this box score.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Yeah, one one know about special teams, special teams, just
- 11:26Speaker 3: like the NFL locker room. It's so random. You got
- 11:28Speaker 3: d line, oh, line linebacker, running back receiver dB. So
- 11:31Speaker 3: big upset of special teams, but wide receiver round up.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Let's get a JSN five for ninety six, one touchdown,
- 11:37Speaker 3: a LAM of forty five. He has six explosive pass
- 11:40Speaker 3: plays so far this year, tied for the most in
- 11:42Speaker 3: the NFL. We wondered if he was capable of getting
- 11:45Speaker 3: behind the defense. Yeah, we ain't wondering no more. And
- 11:48Speaker 3: got Horton three for thirty two in a touchdown. You
- 11:50Speaker 3: got Cooper Cup two for thirty one, AJ one for
- 11:53Speaker 3: twenty three at big cast, George alone had two for fifteen.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Salbert had one reception for twelve, Reek had one for twelve.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Walker had had one for twelve as well, a lot
- 12:02Speaker 3: of names in that block score.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I like to see that.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I love to see you spreading the wealth, and
- 12:06Speaker 2: I'd love to see explosive plays.
- 12:08Speaker 1: You mentioned it.
- 12:08Speaker 2: There's a lot of explosive plays to go around there
- 12:10Speaker 2: and quick shout out to Eric Saubert. I know coach mcdonald'
- 12:12Speaker 2: spoke about that on his radio show this morning. He
- 12:14Speaker 2: had that catching this everyone running to the football. When
- 12:17Speaker 2: you get hats of the football, good things happen on
- 12:19Speaker 2: both sides of the ball. Love what we saw there,
- 12:22Speaker 2: and now we're gonna get into the film room.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Bump. This is your chance to nerd out.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Let us know some of the biggest plays in the game,
- 12:26Speaker 2: and none was bigger than Tory Horton's in ninety five
- 12:29Speaker 2: yard putt return touchdown.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Kroger is punting Tory Horton, the rookie is deep for
- 12:35Speaker 4: the Seahawks. He stands just inside his own twenty. I
- 12:38Speaker 4: saw Kroger during warm ups and he had a couple
- 12:40Speaker 4: of rain makers. And here's one.
- 12:41Speaker 1: This is a long, high spiral.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Horton back at his own five, gets one block, gets
- 12:47Speaker 4: two blocks, turns up field, cuts some.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Running room acoff of thirty thirty five. Who may't go
- 12:51Speaker 5: forty one o'clock.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Commit field forty.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Thirty twenty fifteen ten five you, mister Horty. Touchdown Shayhawks.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Unbelievable blocks, great run by the rookie, ninety five yards
- 13:11Speaker 5: and the Seahawks take a thirteen nothing lead over the Saints.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Holy Catfish wanna return and one a great job of blocking.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Buy those special teamers well, first possession is everything.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Good job of reading the football off the punters foot
- 13:30Speaker 3: floats him over to us right in a little bit. Typically,
- 13:33Speaker 3: where you're inside the ten yard line, you don't want
- 13:35Speaker 3: to fill at that ball. But sometimes you lose track
- 13:37Speaker 3: of where you are exactly, and you feel like you
- 13:39Speaker 3: have some space in front of you, so you're gonna
- 13:40Speaker 3: try to make a play. I'm iced to tell my
- 13:42Speaker 3: guys a pumper turn. I'll make one or two miss,
- 13:44Speaker 3: but I'm gonna need y'all to pick up the rest.
- 13:45Speaker 3: And that's what happens. Right here. You have a player
- 13:49Speaker 3: right in front of him, he makes a miss. You
- 13:50Speaker 3: have Neimiah Pritchard who is right there, and I remember
- 13:55Speaker 3: being in the booth and begging, please don't push him
- 13:57Speaker 3: in the back, Please don't push him in the back.
- 13:59Speaker 3: He has a guy gets in front of him against
- 14:00Speaker 3: just enough, throws his hands up like he's guilty, but
- 14:02Speaker 3: he's not guilty. The referee make sure that and now
- 14:05Speaker 3: this is Horton just trying to find the creases. And
- 14:07Speaker 3: now what happens when you're on that defensive line, so
- 14:10Speaker 3: to speak, when you're on the punt return team, your
- 14:13Speaker 3: rush and then you get back and now you're looking
- 14:15Speaker 3: for bodies.
- 14:15Speaker 1: You're just trying to find bodies to hook up with.
- 14:17Speaker 3: And you have Jack Reed and Jake Bobo who make
- 14:21Speaker 3: this thing happen, and other guys did their jobs too.
- 14:23Speaker 3: You slow guys down, but you're looking for a crease
- 14:26Speaker 3: right up the middle of the field. You have Jerreed
- 14:28Speaker 3: pushing this guy to the left of Horton, and got
- 14:30Speaker 3: Bobo pushing this guy.
- 14:31Speaker 1: To the right of Horton.
- 14:33Speaker 3: And now you're finding chash Chaskell head and head hunt
- 14:36Speaker 3: that punter, sit him down on his wallet, and Horton
- 14:39Speaker 3: gets outside towards the sideline. The rest is God given ability.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Love to see. It has been a while since we've
- 14:46Speaker 3: seen one of these.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Absolutely and what I love you named all the good stuff,
- 14:49Speaker 2: but I love effort here, yeah, effort from everyone on
- 14:51Speaker 2: the field. D'anthonny Bell is on the back side of
- 14:54Speaker 2: this and he just chases it down.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Hustle. He's escorting Tory Horton the enzone.
- 14:58Speaker 2: There's two people he can block in that play guy
- 15:00Speaker 2: behind Tory and there's a guy in front of him
- 15:01Speaker 2: and he's running head on his twillow looking for somebody block.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Love what we saw from him there. And you mentioned
- 15:07Speaker 2: Chaz again finding work a lot of things on special teams.
- 15:10Speaker 2: When you're looking back, you're finding work. He doesn't know
- 15:12Speaker 2: who it is and he hits him legally cleanly, I mean,
- 15:15Speaker 2: absolutely blows him up, sends it on the way. But
- 15:18Speaker 2: I love it. I love it from everyone, Tory Horden.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Everyone on the field is just running with effort and
- 15:22Speaker 2: that's the type of style Mike mcdonnald and this staff
- 15:24Speaker 2: wants to play with.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So good on everybody.
- 15:26Speaker 2: And you said it presence of mind them I Pritchett,
- 15:28Speaker 2: Andreiq Young could have easily got flagged for a block
- 15:31Speaker 2: in the back or getting a little close, but no,
- 15:33Speaker 2: the smart plays and the young kid, Tory Horton takes
- 15:37Speaker 2: care of the rest. Love what we've seen there. Another
- 15:39Speaker 2: player we're gonna break down. I guess this is gonna
- 15:41Speaker 2: be a weekly thing. Bump Jason is gonna have a
- 15:43Speaker 2: forty plus yard reception and we're gonna break it down.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Here's Sam Darnald find Jason for a forty five yard game.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Ken Walker the third in the backfield, playfake to him.
- 15:51Speaker 4: On first down, Sam ass time. Now he's gonna let
- 15:53Speaker 4: one fly down in the middle of the field.
- 15:55Speaker 5: It's right between three defenders and jsm makes a catch.
- 16:00Speaker 3: So this right here is what the effect of the
- 16:03Speaker 3: run game right, didn't have that many yards on the ground,
- 16:07Speaker 3: but the threat of K nine is what gets this
- 16:10Speaker 3: squad in trouble. I'm talking about the Saint So the
- 16:12Speaker 3: Hawks come out, They're gonna max pro this. Then you
- 16:14Speaker 3: got two tight ends to the right of Sam Donald.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You have Jasn to the left of Donald by himself.
- 16:20Speaker 3: You got Hordon on the bottom I believe excuse me,
- 16:21Speaker 3: Cooper Cup down at the bottom by himself, came down
- 16:23Speaker 3: in the backfield. So you got a too high safety
- 16:26Speaker 3: look by the Saints. Really one on one matchups on
- 16:28Speaker 3: the outside with these receivers, and Sam Donald is understand
- 16:31Speaker 3: He's gonna go back and fake the handoff. What that
- 16:34Speaker 3: does the safety that is over Jason, his eyes are
- 16:37Speaker 3: in the backfield.
- 16:37Speaker 1: He's cheating. You gotta be deeper than the deepest.
- 16:40Speaker 3: But because you can run the football, he wants to
- 16:42Speaker 3: be a part that his eyes get caught in the
- 16:44Speaker 3: backfield and JSN just goes. He gets an inside release
- 16:47Speaker 3: and by the time Jaysn is two yards away from
- 16:50Speaker 3: that safety, he has not turned his hips. It is
- 16:52Speaker 3: a rap, my friend. That's exactly what happens there. On
- 16:55Speaker 3: the bottom, you have Cooper Cup running a nice little
- 16:57Speaker 3: in a dig right. He occupies two players and then
- 16:59Speaker 3: it's all speed right here, and you toss one up
- 17:02Speaker 3: for your guy.
- 17:03Speaker 1: You go and get it in between three defenders.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But on this defensive the line gon be offensive line
- 17:08Speaker 3: Anthony Bradford picks up a blitz and makes the things happen.
- 17:11Speaker 3: You get the play action, you getting blissed by your
- 17:13Speaker 3: Mike linebacker. You jam that thing up. Give your quarterback
- 17:16Speaker 3: some time. We know if he has time, he will
- 17:18Speaker 3: make the play. Good throw, good speed, great execution.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You mentioned it mass protection on this play. I love
- 17:24Speaker 2: the success we're having on two man routes. That just
- 17:27Speaker 2: shows everything you talked about Clint Kubiak, his game plan,
- 17:30Speaker 2: how he's marrying them plays together. We're running the football
- 17:32Speaker 2: a time. He got people in the box. I love
- 17:34Speaker 2: Jason's release. First off, Yeah, the corner is playing inside
- 17:37Speaker 2: doesn't get a hand on him. Okay, mistake number one there,
- 17:40Speaker 2: and then the safety he's looking in the backfield and
- 17:42Speaker 2: show your point. Jayson's on your side and he breaks
- 17:46Speaker 2: that cushion if he's on three yards of you and
- 17:49Speaker 2: your feet are kind of flat footed, no chance. Donald
- 17:51Speaker 2: kind of holds him there, looking at cup and then
- 17:53Speaker 2: perfect ball from Darnald to jays N. They got three
- 17:56Speaker 2: guys in the picture once again, though, Jason is running
- 17:59Speaker 2: behind the defense three straight games with a forty yard
- 18:02Speaker 2: pass play. I love what we're doing within this offense.
- 18:05Speaker 2: And again Jsn his ability to get behind the defense. Yeah,
- 18:08Speaker 2: he might not be a four to three guy, but
- 18:10Speaker 2: on the field, he's a fourth three guys.
- 18:11Speaker 3: On the field, he is a four to three guys.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Some guys test well, some guys play well. Something guys
- 18:14Speaker 3: you both. Yeah, he does both, and I love what
- 18:17Speaker 3: we're seeing from them. But but this is a short week.
- 18:20Speaker 2: It's already gonna be a Thursday night football coming up
- 18:22Speaker 2: against the Cardinals, so we don't even.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Have time to do a separate podcast.
- 18:24Speaker 2: We gotta stay right in here and we look ahead
- 18:27Speaker 2: to those Arizona Cardinals.
- 18:29Speaker 1: What's on tap? What's on tap.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Arizona Cardinals two and one, second place in the NFC West.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Cardinals lost their first game this season against the forty
- 18:38Speaker 2: nine Ers on the road, But that wasn't even the
- 18:40Speaker 2: worst part court dadam Scheffer. Running back James Connor will
- 18:42Speaker 2: missed the rest of the season with a severe ankle injury.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Connor has led the Cardinals in rushing each year since
- 18:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty one, so that's a huge, huge, huge blow
- 18:50Speaker 2: to the Arizona Cardinals. Looking at this game between the
- 18:54Speaker 2: Niners in the Cardinals defensive battle, forty nine Ers without
- 18:58Speaker 2: starting quarterback brock perty back Jones. Once the game got
- 19:01Speaker 2: the start at an average day twenty seven to forty one,
- 19:03Speaker 2: two hundred and eighty four yards, one touch on win interception,
- 19:06Speaker 2: But when the game was on the line, something you
- 19:07Speaker 2: don't hear often as Mac Jones in the NFL, he delivered.
- 19:11Speaker 2: He led the forty nine Ers on a ten play
- 19:13Speaker 2: sixty three yard drive ending with a game winning field
- 19:15Speaker 2: goal by newly acquired Eddie Piniro for Moody.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Oh come on, that's come on. That was messed up, man.
- 19:24Speaker 2: But before this game, Jones was three of seventeen in
- 19:27Speaker 2: these type of comeback situations. So he showed up, balled out,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and then we're gonna talk about the age.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Just wonder.
- 19:33Speaker 2: In the second Klais campbell Man, he forces a holding
- 19:35Speaker 2: penalty in the end zone on dominic poone. Gave them
- 19:38Speaker 2: the lead, but they weren't able to close it out.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, big up to kalay Is campbell Man, still in
- 19:43Speaker 3: the game, represent for the eighties babies.
- 19:45Speaker 1: We appreciate you.
- 19:46Speaker 3: And the Cardinals have the ball with three ten left
- 19:48Speaker 3: in the game with a fifteen to thirteen lead, but
- 19:51Speaker 3: win three and out before the forty nine ers game
- 19:53Speaker 3: winning drive. For the Nineers, Christian McCaffey had one hundred and
- 19:56Speaker 3: forty total yard typical day for that man. Ricky pirols
- 19:59Speaker 3: ill let all receivers with a one hundred and seventeen
- 20:01Speaker 3: on eight receptions for the Cardinals. Murray was twenty two
- 20:04Speaker 3: or thirty five for one fifty nine one touchdown in
- 20:06Speaker 3: zero interceptions.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the thing, So Trey Benson comes in
- 20:11Speaker 2: for James Connor. He's been on the team, he's been
- 20:13Speaker 2: in the lead a couple of years. Once he came in,
- 20:15Speaker 2: he had forty two yards on ten carries. Marvin Harrison.
- 20:18Speaker 2: He had three receptions for forty four yards. Trey McBride
- 20:21Speaker 2: breakout season last year, which we'll talk about, he had
- 20:23Speaker 2: forty three yards and five receptions. The Niners are gonna
- 20:25Speaker 2: host the Jaguars next Sunday, and the Cardinals were welcome
- 20:28Speaker 2: in the Seahawks officuely on Thursday. But man, Bump, it
- 20:30Speaker 2: wasn't just James Connor that walked out of the game
- 20:32Speaker 2: and was lost for the season. Man Corey Dadam Schefter
- 20:34Speaker 2: test show today that forty nine Ers Pro Bowl defensive
- 20:36Speaker 2: end Nick Bosa suffered a season ending torn acl on
- 20:40Speaker 2: Sunday's win over Arizona. Apparently it's a clean tear and
- 20:43Speaker 2: Boatsol will need season ending surgery.
- 20:45Speaker 1: That is an absolute devastator for the nice man.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Same knee too, a couple of years ago he tore
- 20:50Speaker 3: that fame man. So you know, I know they are
- 20:52Speaker 3: the ops. I know they are the forty nine ers,
- 20:53Speaker 3: but you hate to see that. So at James Connor
- 20:55Speaker 3: and Nick Bosa, You guys, Hill up, Man, Hill Up.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Let's look at this head two head Seahawks again against
- 21:00Speaker 3: thee Cardinals. When it comes to offense, the Seahawks have
- 21:02Speaker 3: the eighteenth ranked offense, the twenty first ranked rush offense,
- 21:06Speaker 3: and twelfth when it comes to throwing the fulltball.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Fifth.
- 21:08Speaker 3: When it comes to points per game, you drop forty
- 21:10Speaker 3: four out that numbers going up a little bit. The
- 21:13Speaker 3: Cardinals are twenty fifth overall as far as offense, sixteenth
- 21:15Speaker 3: run the football, twenty eight passing in nineteenth when it
- 21:17Speaker 3: comes to points, averaging twenty point seven a game.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Yep flipping and over defense, Seahawks fourteenth in the NFL.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That numbers continuing to slowly creep down after that first game.
- 21:27Speaker 2: They are seventh against the run, only allowing ninety yards
- 21:29Speaker 2: per game. So we're up there for sure. Pass defense
- 21:32Speaker 2: twentieth two and twenty one yards per game, a number
- 21:34Speaker 2: that's continuously dropped every single week. And points allowed that
- 21:37Speaker 2: number two in the NFL, allowing fifteen point seven points
- 21:40Speaker 2: per game. That'll work. If you end with that number,
- 21:43Speaker 2: you're probably gonna lead the league.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Like I, except for I accept that number.
- 21:45Speaker 2: On the side of the Cardinals, they are twenty third
- 21:47Speaker 2: and total defense line three and forty yards per game.
- 21:49Speaker 2: They are fourth against the run, though playing the stout
- 21:51Speaker 2: run defense only long seventy six yards per game. Thirtieth
- 21:54Speaker 2: against the pass, longing two and sixty four yards per game.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And they're also doing pretty well in points allowed, allowing
- 22:00Speaker 2: seventeen points per game, so decently evenly matched defensively, obviously,
- 22:04Speaker 2: there are some discrepancy there with the past defense. Seahawks
- 22:06Speaker 2: will have five interceptions to the Cardinals two. Yeah, it
- 22:09Speaker 2: looks like this could be a defensive battle.
- 22:11Speaker 3: We we got going on as far as scoring points,
- 22:13Speaker 3: but I know this is gonna be a good game.
- 22:15Speaker 1: The Cardinals are always a team.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I just don't know what to make of them because
- 22:17Speaker 3: there's talent over there, obviously, but it's all putting these
- 22:20Speaker 3: games together.
- 22:21Speaker 2: A battle of the tool ones. Let's get it absolutely
- 22:23Speaker 2: for the NFC West. But before we get to that,
- 22:25Speaker 2: let's know the history.
- 22:26Speaker 1: No, your history.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Seahawks lead all time record twenty nine to twenty two.
- 22:31Speaker 2: In one, Seahawks have won seven games in a row
- 22:34Speaker 2: against Cardinals and eight of their last nine. Hawks are
- 22:36Speaker 2: ten to one and one at State Farm Stadium since
- 22:38Speaker 2: twenty thirteen. The last Cardinals win was November of twenty one,
- 22:42Speaker 2: when Russell Wilson's still recovering from a broken finger and
- 22:45Speaker 2: last matchup the Seahawks went down to the desert and
- 22:47Speaker 2: beat the Cardinals thirty to eighteen. The last December. Sorry,
- 22:51Speaker 2: that game was Zach Sharboney if you remember that his
- 22:53Speaker 2: breakout game. Could Seahawks control the clock? Sharboney career high
- 22:56Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty four rushing yards, two touchdowns on
- 22:58Speaker 2: twenty two carries really took control after a fifty one
- 23:01Speaker 2: yard touchdown run by sharpn Name that made the happening
- 23:04Speaker 2: score twenty four to ten. Gino Smith had a good
- 23:06Speaker 2: day twenty four thirty two thirty three, one touchdown, Jay
- 23:09Speaker 2: san Let all receivers five receptions and one touchdown.
- 23:12Speaker 1: That was when things were great last year captain four
- 23:14Speaker 1: game wins. Three. Things went a little downhill after that happened.
- 23:17Speaker 1: No need to dwell on the pass. Let's take a
- 23:19Speaker 1: look around the NFCUS.
- 23:21Speaker 4: What's the word and the Seahawks or the NFC West
- 23:27Speaker 4: champs again.
- 23:28Speaker 1: What's the word? In the west? On Hawk talk?
- 23:33Speaker 3: Three weeks through this is the best division in football.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You have the Niners who or three to zero, Cardinals
- 23:39Speaker 3: too on one, Hawks to and one, and the Rams
- 23:41Speaker 3: are two and one. The nc West came back to
- 23:44Speaker 3: earth a little bit with the Rams blowing a twenty
- 23:46Speaker 3: six to seven lead against the Eagles.
- 23:49Speaker 1: All was watching that. I'm like, man, are they really
- 23:50Speaker 1: gonna do this?
- 23:51Speaker 3: And the Cardinals dropped a game within the Division two
- 23:53Speaker 3: the forty nine ers. Let's talk about that Rams Eagles game.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford throws an interception on the opening drive and
- 23:58Speaker 3: the Eagles took full of is, with Jalen Hurts scoring
- 24:01Speaker 3: on a touch push, making the score seven to zero.
- 24:04Speaker 1: It was all Rams for a while after that.
- 24:05Speaker 3: The Eagles went three and out on their next four
- 24:07Speaker 3: drives and then fumbled on the following drives. The Rams
- 24:10Speaker 3: were capitalized by scoring twenty six consecutive points, four field
- 24:14Speaker 3: goals and the Devonte Adams forty four yard touchdown and
- 24:17Speaker 3: the Kyraen Wins ten yard touchdowns, taking the lead the
- 24:19Speaker 3: twenty six to seven.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I was watching this and not believing what I was seeing.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I was concerned, Yeah, I was very concerned.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm like, they're playing the defending Super Bowl champs in
- 24:28Speaker 2: their house and they putting it on them.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty six to seven.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I was.
- 24:31Speaker 1: But there's the collapse there. It is.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Eagle scored four second half touchdowns, including the game sealer,
- 24:37Speaker 2: trailing twenty seven to twenty six. Rams put a nice
- 24:39Speaker 2: drive together, drove in a field goal range. They had
- 24:41Speaker 2: their previous kick block before that. Three seconds left, they
- 24:44Speaker 2: attempt the game winner. It was blocked and ran back
- 24:46Speaker 2: by Jordan Davis for sixty yard touchdown as time expires.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Hate to see it, big boy touchdown. Love to see that.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Jayleen Aris had us all day two and twenty six yards,
- 24:57Speaker 2: three touchdowns, Faster rushed forty yards. AJ Brown one hundred
- 25:00Speaker 2: and nine yards, and on the other side of Stafford
- 25:02Speaker 2: nineteen to thirty three, one ninety six, two toads and
- 25:04Speaker 2: one interception. Kyan Williams also had ninety four yards on
- 25:07Speaker 2: twenty carries.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Yeah, Pooka did this thing too, eleven receptions for one
- 25:12Speaker 3: twelve and the Rams played the ups, you know the Colts. Yeah,
- 25:16Speaker 3: like this is this is getting interesting. I love seeing
- 25:18Speaker 3: Danny Dins. Someone said Danny Dimes went to Indianapolis. He
- 25:21Speaker 3: is now Danny Dallas. Hey in the up his game.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I like that. I can't claim that.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Someone on the text text me that added him with
- 25:28Speaker 3: the bars, but yeah, this should uh, this should be
- 25:31Speaker 3: an interesting one.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah, because they win another game, I'll start believing in
- 25:34Speaker 2: the in the Colts. I've been kind of skeptical of
- 25:36Speaker 2: what we've seen, but they're they're handling teams and they're
- 25:38Speaker 2: playing good football, so will be interesting to see. But
- 25:41Speaker 2: let's football focus back to those Arizona Cardinals. Man up, Hey,
- 25:44Speaker 2: who you got?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Who you got? You know what time it is? Man up?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Man up, brother, Man up, man up.
- 25:49Speaker 2: On Hawk Talk, we always started the quarterback Kyler Murray. Crazy,
- 25:53Speaker 2: you think Kyler Murray is rating a seventh season bump?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 25:57Speaker 2: In those seventh season Murray won ap Rookie of the Year.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Has also been the Pro Bowl twice. Pass game against
- 26:02Speaker 2: the forty nine ers, Murray actually joined the twenty thousand
- 26:05Speaker 2: yards passing club, and as the Cardinal starter, Murray has
- 26:08Speaker 2: a record of thirty eight forty six and one. He
- 26:10Speaker 2: let the Cardinals playoffs back in twenty twenty one, but
- 26:12Speaker 2: has not been back since.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yeah, Kyler Murray, seven years in the game, already still
- 26:16Speaker 3: feels like a young man fresh out of college to me.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But we know what he can do. He can throw
- 26:22Speaker 1: the football. He can run the football.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Ten games against the Hawk sixty two carries, four hundred
- 26:26Speaker 3: and two yards and two touchdowns. He can throw that
- 26:28Speaker 3: thing as well. It's all about just forcing him to
- 26:31Speaker 3: turn the ball over and don't let him go nuts.
- 26:33Speaker 3: He cannot rush for a buck fifty, a bug twenty
- 26:35Speaker 3: and a couple of touchdowns, that's going to make for
- 26:37Speaker 3: a very, very long day. Let's talk about our quarterback,
- 26:40Speaker 3: Sam Darnold coming off with good performance against the Saints.
- 26:44Speaker 3: It was fourteen of eighteen two eighteen, two touchdowns and
- 26:46Speaker 3: most importantly, zero interceptions. Like you mentioned, one hundred and
- 26:49Speaker 3: fifty four point two pass rating, second highest in franchise history.
- 26:53Speaker 3: He's completing seventy percent of his passes so far this year,
- 26:57Speaker 3: completed seventy seven percent last game. He just has to
- 27:01Speaker 3: continue to be efficient. Man, be efficient, take care of
- 27:03Speaker 3: the football, run this offense like he has been doing.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I like our chances.
- 27:06Speaker 1: You mentioned it.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Three sacks all this season this time last year is
- 27:10Speaker 2: appleson orange is a little bit Geno Smith wil Rady
- 27:12Speaker 2: sacked eight times. Offensive line is obviously improved, but as
- 27:14Speaker 2: I mentioned earlier, Darnold has been great making things happen,
- 27:17Speaker 2: extended plays down the field, flipping over the running backs,
- 27:20Speaker 2: Trey Benson stepping in for James Connor. We know James Connor,
- 27:23Speaker 2: very established in this league. Love his story defeating cancer
- 27:26Speaker 2: coming out of pit. Really good running back. But Trey Benson,
- 27:29Speaker 2: your number has been called and you are now up.
- 27:31Speaker 2: They got other running backs. I Mari de Mercado, Bam Knight,
- 27:34Speaker 2: Michael Carter's on the practice squad, did some things for.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Him last year, and Benson's ready.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Man. He said, I don't have a choice. I gotta
- 27:40Speaker 2: go out there do it for Connor, and that's gonna
- 27:42Speaker 2: be his motivation. Second year running back out of Floridas
- 27:45Speaker 2: filled the primary ball carry when Connor went out again.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I said earlier ten carries forty two yards on a
- 27:50Speaker 2: twenty nine yard run. Cardinals, they're so so their middle
- 27:52Speaker 2: of the pack running the football sixteenth the NFL, one
- 27:54Speaker 2: hundred eleven yards per game. That's what the Seahawks doing
- 27:56Speaker 2: while they're stopping the run, and hopefully that continues on Sunday.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Yeah, let's get it. Let's talk about our running backs.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Kin Walker and Zach shar benay Man. Wasn't the production
- 28:06Speaker 3: that you wanted out of those guys, But like I said,
- 28:08Speaker 3: the threat is real with these guys in the backfield,
- 28:11Speaker 3: so you gotta respect it. Kim Walker have thirty eight
- 28:14Speaker 3: yards on sixteen carries, but he scored two touchdowns. Hallani
- 28:16Speaker 3: was filling in for Zach Sharberney. He had twenty seven
- 28:18Speaker 3: yards on ten carries. Listen, sometimes it's just about the matchup.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Sometimes it's about the influence you have on the defense.
- 28:25Speaker 3: And there's gonna be days where the pass is working,
- 28:27Speaker 3: It'll be days where the runs working, and then every
- 28:28Speaker 3: days where everything is working. So well, let's hope for
- 28:31Speaker 3: those days. So far this year, ken Walker has won
- 28:33Speaker 3: sixty three on the ground three touchdowns. Sharberney has fifty
- 28:36Speaker 3: seven in one touchdown. The Cardinals are good against the run,
- 28:39Speaker 3: fourth in the league, allowing seventy six yards per game.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So it's gonna be tough, yeah, absolutely, but that's not
- 28:45Speaker 2: gonna deture this team. We know they want to run
- 28:46Speaker 2: the football. The best games are when people know you
- 28:49Speaker 2: want to run the ball and.
- 28:50Speaker 1: You still do it. So big up to that, Austin.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Just thankful.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Come on now, Ben, looking at their weapons on offense
- 28:56Speaker 2: for the Cardinals, Tree McBride, Marvin Harrison, Trey McBrien, he's
- 28:59Speaker 2: on the scene. Last year he put out the league
- 29:01Speaker 2: on notice one hundred and eleven receptions and forty six
- 29:04Speaker 2: yards two touchdowns. He was eleventh in the NFL and
- 29:08Speaker 2: receiving yards total, second among tight ends. He was fourth
- 29:11Speaker 2: in receptions in the whole league, second month tight ends,
- 29:13Speaker 2: only behind Brock Bowers. And he's set all kinds of
- 29:16Speaker 2: franchise records for the Cardinals. And he's been really good
- 29:20Speaker 2: against Seahawks in two games last year, nineteen receptions, two
- 29:23Speaker 2: hundred three yards. So far this year, seventeen receptions on
- 29:25Speaker 2: one eighty two and one touchdown.
- 29:27Speaker 1: He's a dog. You got to make sure you account
- 29:29Speaker 1: for him. I'm still a.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Little salty about that Rams game last year, play on
- 29:33Speaker 2: the end zone, but anyway, I'll shake it off.
- 29:35Speaker 1: And the other thing.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison junior, top pick last year or fourth overall
- 29:39Speaker 2: in the twenty twenty four draft. Sixty two receptions, eight
- 29:42Speaker 2: eighty five, eight touchdowns last season. This year he's got
- 29:45Speaker 2: ten receptions on seventy seventeen targets, one hundred and forty
- 29:48Speaker 2: two yards in one touchdown. Very talented receivers, so the
- 29:50Speaker 2: seahawksfms some guys look out for.
- 29:52Speaker 1: He got that pedigree of that DNA. Marvin Harrison got
- 29:55Speaker 1: to look after him.
- 29:56Speaker 3: But we got some guys who Jayson and Cooper Cup
- 29:58Speaker 3: was another big week for five receptions ninety six yards,
- 30:02Speaker 3: one touchdown the first of the year. He's got one
- 30:04Speaker 3: hundred and eighty five catches like you mentioned, just past
- 30:06Speaker 3: Corn Robinson for fourth all time in the players first
- 30:09Speaker 3: three seasons. You know what, he now has three straight
- 30:12Speaker 3: games like you said, with forty yards receptions or more.
- 30:16Speaker 3: He's got like a forty, a forty three and a
- 30:18Speaker 3: forty five. My man is doing his second in the
- 30:20Speaker 3: NFL with threns into twenty three yards and twenty two
- 30:22Speaker 3: receptions for fourteen per clip and Cooper Cup. He's gonna
- 30:26Speaker 3: have a day. Cooper is going to have a day
- 30:28Speaker 3: where he goes for over a hundred and a touchdown.
- 30:30Speaker 3: But you know he's uh, he's doing what's ask of
- 30:33Speaker 3: him so far two receptions for thirty one yards against
- 30:35Speaker 3: the Saints on the season, eleven receptions for one thirty
- 30:38Speaker 3: six He's he's gonna be okay.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not worried about Cooper Cup, no question
- 30:42Speaker 1: about it. That per like you said, that production will
- 30:45Speaker 1: be there.
- 30:45Speaker 2: And last one we want to look at Mom I
- 30:47Speaker 2: mentioned earlier Klays, Campbell Man Ageless wonder Yep spoke in
- 30:51Speaker 2: last week. This man just makes place. He's an eighteen
- 30:53Speaker 2: year vet, so let's put that in perspective a little bit.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Nineteen years his career is long enough to orin in
- 31:00Speaker 2: the military. He'd be going off to college. And here's
- 31:03Speaker 2: the thing that got me. He's old enough that he
- 31:05Speaker 2: played in the Super Bowl against the Steelers in two
- 31:08Speaker 2: thousand and eight, the Crazy Games. Antonio Holmes in the
- 31:10Speaker 2: back of the end zone, James Harrison had that long one.
- 31:13Speaker 2: And my personal favorite, he's old enough that you two
- 31:16Speaker 2: were playing in the league at the same.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Time, same time. Baby. He was there before I got there,
- 31:21Speaker 1: while I was there. Still there.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Oh man, he's a dog man. He spent the first
- 31:26Speaker 2: nine years with the Cardinals, played three years with the Jags.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Let them do Namecy Championship Game three in Baltimore.
- 31:30Speaker 1: The dude is just baller.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, man, big ups kalais When he's done, he needs
- 31:36Speaker 3: to be a voice actor for Disney cartoons or something,
- 31:40Speaker 3: because that voice is undeniable. Man on the Year eleven tackles,
- 31:44Speaker 3: two sacks, two TfL's five QB hits.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Not this Thursday, though, kalais calm down, take a knee.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Come on now, all right, here we go.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Like I said, short week and we'll letting you know
- 31:52Speaker 2: how the Seahawks are and to get this done.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Path to victory.
- 31:56Speaker 4: After forty five waits for the snap, Michael Dickton puts it.
- 32:00Speaker 1: That kick is away. If that kick is gone, good
- 32:04Speaker 1: day off. When it's gone, it's a path to victory.
- 32:07Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Big thing about this week is how the team responds.
- 32:11Speaker 2: It's a short week. That's incredibly hard. Playing a game
- 32:15Speaker 2: three days after you just had a battle is not
- 32:18Speaker 2: what you're looking for. Thankfully, the Seahawks played such a
- 32:20Speaker 2: game where they smack the Saints around that a lot
- 32:23Speaker 2: of those guys got to take the fourth quarter off
- 32:24Speaker 2: and limited reps, so that should help. Still gonna be
- 32:27Speaker 2: very hard, so take care of your body, and for me,
- 32:28Speaker 2: it's about starting fast. When you started fast against the Saints,
- 32:31Speaker 2: you took him out of the game before there was
- 32:32Speaker 2: a chance to have a game. So I'm really excited
- 32:34Speaker 2: about the Seahawks continue to do that and find a
- 32:36Speaker 2: way to keep running the ball.
- 32:37Speaker 1: You mentioned it.
- 32:38Speaker 2: They're really stout against the run, so it'd be really
- 32:40Speaker 2: important for it Ken Walker, if Zach Jarbony can be back,
- 32:43Speaker 2: or George Lane to stay consistent and get after.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Him a little bit. Yep, Jay Sen, keep doing you,
- 32:48Speaker 1: my brother, keep being one of the best in the game.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Protect the full ball. Defensively, you got to get after
- 32:53Speaker 3: Kyler Murray. He's been sacked seven times this season, and
- 32:55Speaker 3: you need to stop the run. They're without James Connor,
- 32:58Speaker 3: but you can't have Trey Binzon to find himself and
- 33:00Speaker 3: become the next James Conner. Like, come on now, keep
- 33:03Speaker 3: them in check, and you gotta keep the ball or
- 33:07Speaker 3: try to limit the damage that McBride and Marva Harrison
- 33:10Speaker 3: can do. These are professionals. They are good football players.
- 33:13Speaker 3: They will make some plays, but you can't have them
- 33:14Speaker 3: going nuts.
- 33:15Speaker 1: No question about it. And take care of business.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Arizona Man, the Twelves have taken over that building for
- 33:20Speaker 2: over a decade at this point ten one and one.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Since twenty thirteen, Seahawks have won seven straight road games,
- 33:25Speaker 2: eight and one under a head coach Mike McDonald.
- 33:27Speaker 1: So get after these Cardinals.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, enjoy the long weekend, get nice and ready for
- 33:32Speaker 2: a good Buccaneers team that's gonna come to Loomin field,
- 33:34Speaker 2: and then we'll talk about protecting the loomfield once again.
- 33:36Speaker 2: But I'm excited, bump you know, I enjoy I'll be
- 33:41Speaker 2: disappointed that we can't watch the Seahawks next weekend, but
- 33:43Speaker 2: I'm enjoying taking a little time.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Off from you, right, So that's gonna do it for us.
- 33:47Speaker 2: The Seahawks taken on the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night football.
- 33:51Speaker 2: If you're listening on the radio, our pregame show gets
- 33:52Speaker 2: going at two pm. For Michael Bumpus, I'm Nasa Choby.
- 33:57Speaker 2: This has been HOWKK. Hopefully we were talking to you
- 33:58Speaker 2: next week about a Seahawks pick Ree
