- 0:02Speaker 1: What's up everybody. Welcome in to another edition of Foul Territory.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I'm Kyle Glazer Pinch Hitting today as your host, joined
- 0:10Speaker 1: as always by the great Aj Prasinski and Eric Kratz. Guys,
- 0:14Speaker 1: it's exciting times, got the GM meetings going, It's award seasons,
- 0:17Speaker 1: SILD votes are announced tonight. It's a good time.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It is. It is a good time. It's a weird
- 0:25Speaker 2: time for baseball fans because there's no games going on
- 0:27Speaker 2: really other than I guess the Winter leagues. But as
- 0:29Speaker 2: far as awards and free agencies is ready to kick
- 0:32Speaker 2: off and GM meetings where gms will have interviews and
- 0:36Speaker 2: say nothing. We'd like to really spend money, but we're
- 0:40Speaker 2: not going to spend money. We want affordable guys, but
- 0:42Speaker 2: we're willing to go out and sign. It's always nothing.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So I'm just waiting for a GM to say something
- 0:48Speaker 2: at one time, like Brian Cashman had it happened a
- 0:50Speaker 2: couple of years ago. But when will the GM say something.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we did see yesterday Jed Hoyer at the Cubs
- 0:58Speaker 1: talk about, hey, they are going to prioritize pitching. We
- 1:00Speaker 1: saw Aj Pearler, I thought interestingly mentioned that they are
- 1:03Speaker 1: interested in bringing back Luisa riz at first base just
- 1:06Speaker 1: given their power needs, finishing twenty eighth in Homers last year.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So I do always feel like they sometimes tip their
- 1:12Speaker 1: hand a little bit, but you're right, for the most part,
- 1:14Speaker 1: this is not a time when we see the full
- 1:17Speaker 1: plan on display. I mean, Eric, you've you've you've seen
- 1:20Speaker 1: all the gms speak after all the different teams you've
- 1:22Speaker 1: played for over the years. You know that as well
- 1:24Speaker 1: as anyone.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, they speak like mice on TV, but they rule
- 1:29Speaker 3: like lions behind the scenes. Nobody's ever, Nobody ever sent
- 1:32Speaker 3: me down and was like, well, you know, it's really
- 1:36Speaker 3: just uh, we'll see where the path goes. No, they're like, sorry,
- 1:42Speaker 3: you didn't hit good enough, so we're gonna go and
- 1:43Speaker 3: get somebody that does better.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, Well again, we have the SYNG Awards going
- 1:49Speaker 1: to be announced tonight, MVP Awards announced tomorrow. A lot
- 1:52Speaker 1: of good stuff coming up. A quick reminder once again,
- 1:55Speaker 1: go ahead and subscribe tweet tweet at us here on
- 1:57Speaker 1: FT Live by Merchant foul Territory Shop. It's a lot
- 2:01Speaker 1: of good stuff. And with that, it's time to charge
- 2:03Speaker 1: them mount all right, guys, So signing awards will be
- 2:12Speaker 1: announced tonight. We have Paul Skeans in the National League
- 2:15Speaker 1: and Trek Scoogle in the American League considered pretty much
- 2:18Speaker 1: the runaway winners. Age. I want to start with you,
- 2:22Speaker 1: the question is not whether Skins and Scooba will win,
- 2:25Speaker 1: it's whether or not they will be unanimous. Do you
- 2:27Speaker 1: think either of them deserve to be unanimous this year?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Uh?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Jeez, I think Skimes, Skimes, you know what. I think
- 2:39Speaker 2: they gotta both have a chance. I think I think
- 2:41Speaker 2: Scooble is gonna get it again. I think I don't know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: Crochet and Hunter Brown didn't do enough, especially towards the end.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And if you include Sanchez might steal a vote from
- 2:50Speaker 2: so I think Scooble will be unanimous. I don't think
- 2:52Speaker 2: Schemes will just because I think Sanchez or Yama modor
- 2:54Speaker 2: are gonna steal a vote fromwhere. Now here's the better thing.
- 2:57Speaker 2: If they included the postseason, I know not all these
- 3:00Speaker 2: as in the postseason. You have to make a case
- 3:03Speaker 2: for Yamamoto and what he did in the postseason for
- 3:05Speaker 2: the Dodgers. So in Christopher Sanchez pitch great. Now, it's
- 3:09Speaker 2: not Skeen's fault, they didn't make it, but I think
- 3:12Speaker 2: Sanchez or Yamamoto will sneeze steal a vote, and I
- 3:14Speaker 2: think School is going to be unanimous.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Eric, what about you? Where do you stand? Once again?
- 3:19Speaker 1: The NLSA Young finalists Christopher Sanchez with the Phillies, Paul
- 3:23Speaker 1: Skeins with the Pirates, Yoshinoba Yamamoto with the Dodgers. Over
- 3:26Speaker 1: in the American League, Garrett Crochet with the Red Sox,
- 3:28Speaker 1: Hunter Brown with the Astros, and Trek Skouoball. Do you
- 3:31Speaker 1: think Scooball or Skeens deserve to be unanimous?
- 3:35Speaker 3: I think they do deserve to be unanimous. But I'm
- 3:37Speaker 3: going to go the opposite of what aj just said.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I think I think in the American League, I think
- 3:43Speaker 3: Crochet is probably the only one that gets a chance
- 3:46Speaker 3: to maybe take a take a first place vote away
- 3:50Speaker 3: from Schooble. I think I think Skeens did exactly what
- 3:55Speaker 3: Like his numbers, he had I think one blip on
- 3:58Speaker 3: the radar the whole season, but he was he was
- 4:01Speaker 3: essentially beginning to end favorite to win the cy Young
- 4:05Speaker 3: and he did it like rarely do you see that.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Normally it's like, Okay, this dude's coming in. Scooble probably
- 4:12Speaker 3: coming in to be that favorite. Again, I think Crochet
- 4:15Speaker 3: gave him a run for his money. He ultimately will
- 4:18Speaker 3: not will not beat him, but I think I think school.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I think Scooble loses one first place vote to Crochet.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Diving into the NL race here a little bit Paul
- 4:29Speaker 1: Skeen's look. This was an incredible year one nine seven
- 4:32Speaker 1: ERA that was more than half a run lower than
- 4:35Speaker 1: his closest competition in the National League. Again, pick your
- 4:38Speaker 1: favorite statistic whip strikeouts fip ERA plus its skins by
- 4:43Speaker 1: a mile. What's interesting about this is he went ten
- 4:46Speaker 1: to ten, and we know we're in an age where
- 4:47Speaker 1: wins are not considered the big factor in SIL voting
- 4:51Speaker 1: that they wore one long time ago. Nonetheless, it is
- 4:54Speaker 1: interesting the concept of a pitchure with a five hundred
- 4:57Speaker 1: record winning the SAI Young Award, when as recently twenty
- 5:00Speaker 1: years ago it would have been unthinkable. And again, it
- 5:02Speaker 1: wasn't his fault. His offense only provided him with eleven
- 5:05Speaker 1: runs in those ten losses, So I mean, his case
- 5:08Speaker 1: really speaks for itself. But nonetheless it is kind of
- 5:10Speaker 1: a historical anomaly.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You think though really because didn't Felix when Felix won
- 5:15Speaker 2: the one year. There's been some guys that have done this,
- 5:18Speaker 2: so I don't know that it's that big of anomenaly anymore.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Because of the advanced metrics. Now, I think that this
- 5:23Speaker 2: has just become wins. This is the whole wins don't matter,
- 5:26Speaker 2: which I kind of disagree with because win shouldn't matter
- 5:30Speaker 2: because at the end of the day, you get paid
- 5:31Speaker 2: on wins and losses. This is a team.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so Felix was at least a little bit over
- 5:35Speaker 1: five hundred. He was thirteen and twelve, so one game over.
- 5:38Speaker 2: But you're right.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I mean we've seen wins sort of be de emphasized,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and you mentioned it's something that you don't necessarily agree with. Eric,
- 5:43Speaker 1: where are you on that?
- 5:46Speaker 3: I mean, wins, wins are important. Starting pitchers need to win.
- 5:49Speaker 3: But the reality is, like even in Felix's case, I
- 5:53Speaker 3: think he had two hundred and fifty innings or two
- 5:55Speaker 3: hundred and forty some innings that year, Like he gave
- 6:00Speaker 3: you everything like some of these guys, and it's not
- 6:03Speaker 3: pole schemes or it's not post skiings fault at all.
- 6:06Speaker 3: He's getting taken out. They are one hundred percent load
- 6:09Speaker 3: managing him for whatever reason. I guess the Pirates have
- 6:12Speaker 3: the answers more than anybody, or maybe it's just the
- 6:15Speaker 3: whole game, But guys don't pitch long enough to get wins.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to pitch into the seventh inning before
- 6:22Speaker 3: your team scores. Sometimes you have to be able to
- 6:24Speaker 3: pitch into the sixth th inning. I mean, I think
- 6:27Speaker 3: Schemes did a good job of pitching as deep as
- 6:30Speaker 3: he was allowed to pitch, but they just they don't
- 6:33Speaker 3: let guys get wins. And that's why wins for pitchers
- 6:39Speaker 3: aren't as important a guy that pitch deep into games.
- 6:42Speaker 3: This year, Max Freed also got hurt deeper into games,
- 6:45Speaker 3: so I think there's there's some argument on both sides.
- 6:49Speaker 3: But if you're starting pitcher, we have Max serger on
- 6:52Speaker 3: here right now, he wants to win in every game,
- 6:55Speaker 3: and I think it's just a change in mindset. And
- 6:57Speaker 3: I don't think it's a change in the player's mindset.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It's a change in the front office mindset or the
- 7:04Speaker 3: coaching staff's mindset.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Absolutely mentioned Felix Hernandez. Of course, Jacob de Grom was
- 7:10Speaker 1: another guy who won two sign awards while finishing barely
- 7:13Speaker 1: over five hundred. He went ten to nine and eleven
- 7:16Speaker 1: and eight. His two seasons he won sign awards. A
- 7:19Speaker 1: Joe you mentioned something early thought was interesting that Yoshinova
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yamamoto if this vote took place after the World Say,
- 7:26Speaker 1: if these votes took place with postseason performance in consideration,
- 7:31Speaker 1: would you start to lean Yamamoto more or would it
- 7:34Speaker 1: still be Schemes for you?
- 7:35Speaker 2: Uh, Yamamoto has to be under consideration because he was
- 7:38Speaker 2: the best pitcher in the postseason, I mean especially after
- 7:41Speaker 2: his epic Game seven performance. After pitching Game six and winning,
- 7:45Speaker 2: he won three of the four World Series games for
- 7:47Speaker 2: the Dodgers, So I think he would have to be
- 7:49Speaker 2: involved in it. But it's a regular season award.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I get it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: That's why Yamamoto won the World Series MVP. But in
- 7:57Speaker 2: the other thing is you can't include postseason because not
- 7:59Speaker 2: all these guys are in the postseasons. You can't criticize
- 8:01Speaker 2: Schemes because his team stinks and they also spend the
- 8:05Speaker 2: money and score any runs. So I think, yeah, if
- 8:07Speaker 2: postseason was involved, I think Yamamoto would be right there
- 8:10Speaker 2: with Schemes.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I think Yamamoto was no I think it's funny because
- 8:16Speaker 3: they he's probably gonna end up third, and probably a
- 8:20Speaker 3: distant third. I would assume, you know, I think Christopher
- 8:23Speaker 3: Sanchez put together freaking amazing year. But the fact that
- 8:27Speaker 3: Yamamoto would be in consideration to dethrone schemes shows you
- 8:33Speaker 3: the fact that starting pitcher, starting pitchers matter.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I get it.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Last year Dodgers won because of their bullpen. But this
- 8:41Speaker 3: year they won because of starting pitching. I wonder if
- 8:43Speaker 3: it'll be reflected in this free agent, this free agency,
- 8:47Speaker 3: in this offseason.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Krats pop quiz. What has thirty five grams of protein,
- 8:52Speaker 4: six grams of fiber, twenty seven essential vitamins and minerals.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Comes in excellent flavors like of course chocolate, vanilla, but chocolate,
- 9:00Speaker 4: peanut butter, my favorite, no added sugar, gluten free, under
- 9:03Speaker 4: five dollars per meal, and is ready to drink.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Go out of the house, get yourself a huel. Look
- 9:11Speaker 3: at you, You even have one right there, ready to
- 9:13Speaker 3: smack that John Ugh Chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla
- 9:17Speaker 3: Delicio cells.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Also, there is a new Daily Greens ready to drink
- 9:22Speaker 4: forty two vitamins, minerals and superfoods only twenty five calories
- 9:26Speaker 4: on that one four grams of fiber. There's flavors like blueberry, apple, peach.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Huel makes healthy eating simple. They also just launched into
- 9:36Speaker 4: Target stores nationwide. Try both products today with fifteen percent

- 9:43Speaker 4: quel dot com slash foul. Use that code foul and
- 9:46Speaker 4: fill out the post checkout survey to help support FT.
- 9:51Speaker 1: So you have Sanchez potentially finishing second, Yamamoto third. But
- 9:54Speaker 1: you're right what Yoshinoba Yamamoto did. Even during the regular season,
- 9:57Speaker 1: he was the only Dodger starter to make every Star
- 10:00Speaker 1: this year. We know this rotation was ailing. He was
- 10:02Speaker 1: the one constant for them moving over into the American League.
- 10:05Speaker 1: We talked about Trek Scoogle had yet another amazing season.
- 10:08Speaker 1: He will be the Cion Award winner in the AL
- 10:11Speaker 1: for the second year in a row. You know, Garrett
- 10:13Speaker 1: Crochet and Hunter Brown are interesting to me because both
- 10:16Speaker 1: of these guys, as they were coming up as prospects,
- 10:19Speaker 1: a lot of evaluators consider them future relievers. I can't
- 10:22Speaker 1: tell you how many times over my tenure at Baseball
- 10:24Speaker 1: America I heard these two guys are probably going to
- 10:27Speaker 1: be relievers, and Crouschet did start as a reliever before
- 10:29Speaker 1: moving into the rotation with the White Sox. What do
- 10:32Speaker 1: you think this shows you about, you know, guys and
- 10:34Speaker 1: their ability to continue to EVOLVEU. I think sometimes we
- 10:37Speaker 1: see guys as almost finished products when they get to
- 10:39Speaker 1: the majors, when nothing could be further from the truth.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And I think it shows the teams don't always know
- 10:44Speaker 2: what they're doing, that evaluators aren't always right, and I
- 10:49Speaker 2: think it shows you that you have to give guys
- 10:51Speaker 2: chances to grow. I mean, Chris Sale came up as
- 10:53Speaker 2: a reliever. He was a closer. I remember I was there.
- 10:56Speaker 2: He was our closer for a little while, right because
- 10:58Speaker 2: everyone's like, oh, he's going to get hurt. He's never
- 11:00Speaker 2: going to be able to pitch two hundred innings, he's
- 11:02Speaker 2: never going to be able to do this, and now
- 11:03Speaker 2: he's on a Cooperstown track. So I think you have
- 11:05Speaker 2: to let guys develop and figure it out. Crochet got hurt,
- 11:08Speaker 2: so that cost him some time. But I think in
- 11:11Speaker 2: his mind he always wanted to be a starter. He
- 11:13Speaker 2: was a starter coming out of college and he always
- 11:15Speaker 2: thought he'd be a starter down the road, and the
- 11:16Speaker 2: White Sox didn't allow him to do that until the
- 11:19Speaker 2: one year and he proved he could do it. Now
- 11:22Speaker 2: he didn't get to pitch a lot, but the Red
- 11:23Speaker 2: Sox were like, you know what, you're our guy. Now
- 11:25Speaker 2: you're are one. Go out there and do it. And
- 11:27Speaker 2: for Hunter Brown, Hunter Brown made some adjustments from where
- 11:30Speaker 2: he was a couple of years ago. He quit trying
- 11:32Speaker 2: to be Justin Verlander. He became Hunter Brown. He's really good.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I think these guys.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I think these guys have the opportunity to start, they
- 11:40Speaker 3: really get put on the play to the player. We
- 11:43Speaker 3: had a discussion about a week and a half ago
- 11:45Speaker 3: about Mason Miller. To me, if Mason Miller says I
- 11:48Speaker 3: want to be a starter, he's learned to pitch in
- 11:50Speaker 3: the big leagues, he's learned to see how his body recovers,
- 11:54Speaker 3: you gotta want to try. You gotta want to try
- 11:57Speaker 3: because if what's the worst second happen. I remember when
- 12:00Speaker 3: garyk Corchet said he wanted to be a starter, and
- 12:03Speaker 3: the White Sox were like, well, we don't care about
- 12:05Speaker 3: anything else, so we're just going to let him do
- 12:07Speaker 3: it. It's on him. But the question was, Dude, this guy
- 12:10Speaker 3: missed two of the last three seasons because of injuries,
- 12:14Speaker 3: and now all of a sudden, he's going to be
- 12:15Speaker 3: a starter. He's probably going to blow out even more,
- 12:19Speaker 3: and he's shown that this guy is a monster like
- 12:23Speaker 3: his frame says, Hey, you know what, I can deal
- 12:27Speaker 3: with throwing one hundred miles an hour for seven innings
- 12:30Speaker 3: and then I get my five days to recover and
- 12:32Speaker 3: it's worked out perfectly to me. I think it should
- 12:37Speaker 3: be the opposite. When you get called up, it should
- 12:40Speaker 3: be he's a starter until he proves he's not a starter.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Then you go to the bullpen, and then you say, okay,
- 12:48Speaker 3: are you able to build back up the stuff you've learned?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Not?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Well, he's he's a bullpen guy. Like, how can you
- 12:54Speaker 3: tell somebody's a bullpen guy because he doesn't have a
- 12:56Speaker 3: second pitch when he's twenty two years old. I think
- 12:58Speaker 3: evaluators make that assumption too quickly in guy's careers.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Sometimes it's time now for shake it up guys. We
- 13:15Speaker 1: talked about the Twins a little with Ken Rosenthal. Dan
- 13:18Speaker 1: Hayes with The Athletic reported that he wants to build
- 13:20Speaker 1: on what the Twins already have in place, but if
- 13:23Speaker 1: the Twins continue to tear things down Byron Buxton might
- 13:27Speaker 1: be open to waving his no trade clause. And this
- 13:30Speaker 1: comes after Buxton said from the All Star Game really
- 13:33Speaker 1: through the end of the regular season, as the Twins
- 13:35Speaker 1: were tearing it all down, he told anyone who would
- 13:37Speaker 1: listen that he was a Twins player for life and
- 13:40Speaker 1: would not be willing to wave his no trade clause.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Now might seem like things have changed. Eric, I'm going
- 13:46Speaker 1: to start with you, just what do you make of
- 13:47Speaker 1: this and kind of the change in tone.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Potentially obviously you know we're the last to find out,
- 13:54Speaker 3: but the fact that he came out at the All
- 13:57Speaker 3: Star Game and said this, and then the half of
- 14:01Speaker 3: his team got traded, almost half of his team got traded.
- 14:05Speaker 3: It's either one they went to him before that, and
- 14:08Speaker 3: so when the question was asked of him, he was like, yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 3: I'm ready. I'm ready for this. Somebody asked me this
- 14:13Speaker 3: if I'm gonna get traded, and he says no, because
- 14:17Speaker 3: the team's already asked and I don't want to be traded.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Or he had no idea that all these dudes were
- 14:22Speaker 3: getting traded and that the team was hemorrhaging cash and
- 14:25Speaker 3: they needed to trade all these dudes, and so maybe
- 14:28Speaker 3: he's rethinking it.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But I know there's a lot of.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Teams that would be like, hmm, potential MVP, speedy center
- 14:36Speaker 3: field on a nice, easy, team friendly contract.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll trade for that guy.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it'd be really interesting to see if
- 14:47Speaker 1: the Twins do decide to trade Pablo Lopez and Joe
- 14:50Speaker 1: Ryan this all season, just because it feels like that
- 14:52Speaker 1: would be the straw that breaks the camel's back. They
- 14:55Speaker 1: traded ten guys off their big league roster at the
- 14:57Speaker 1: trade doutline. You understand for Byron Bucks and looking around
- 15:00Speaker 1: and saying, hey, who's around me? Now? He does have
- 15:03Speaker 1: three years and forty five million dollars remaining on his
- 15:06Speaker 1: current deal, and once again, he does have no trade
- 15:09Speaker 1: protection through next season. He can block trades to five
- 15:12Speaker 1: clubs in twenty seven, twenty eight, AJ, what for you
- 15:15Speaker 1: would be the line in which he say, yeah, screw it,
- 15:18Speaker 1: I'm waving my no trade clause.
- 15:20Speaker 2: It would have already happened. It would have done the
- 15:22Speaker 2: Griffin Jack. I would have gone Griffin Jack style like
- 15:25Speaker 2: he did. Remember, they started trading dudes and he goes
- 15:27Speaker 2: in there and goes, can you guys throw me in
- 15:28Speaker 2: there too, please? Yeah, it was cool when he came
- 15:31Speaker 2: out and said this, And I get he's comfortable there,
- 15:34Speaker 2: but they're not on a winning path right now anytime
- 15:36Speaker 2: in the near future. So yeah, it's great. He wants
- 15:38Speaker 2: to stay there his entire career. And yes, they brought
- 15:39Speaker 2: him up, and yes they signed up this deal. What'd
- 15:42Speaker 2: you say it was three years, forty five million tu Yes,
- 15:45Speaker 2: three forty five. I mean that's easy, easy, easy, tradable
- 15:50Speaker 2: for the numbers this guy can put up when he's healthy.
- 15:52Speaker 2: So I don't. I don't he'll here. Here's the thing. Also,
- 15:55Speaker 2: the owners can go to Bryan Bucks and say, listen,
- 15:57Speaker 2: we really appreciate you and all, but like we want
- 15:59Speaker 2: to trade you. Can you help us out here? Maybe
- 16:03Speaker 2: he will, maybe he won't, but I know he you know,
- 16:05Speaker 2: he loved he. Tory Hunter was a guy that you know,
- 16:08Speaker 2: started at the Twins, ended with the Twins. Bucks and
- 16:10Speaker 2: him are super tight. The Troy Hawkins is back there,
- 16:13Speaker 2: another guy that he was tight with. So do I
- 16:16Speaker 2: think he'll stay there? No? Do I think he might
- 16:19Speaker 2: still want to stay there for his legacy yes, but
- 16:22Speaker 2: if I was in a situation he gone, I'm sorry,
- 16:26Speaker 2: I'm gone, I'm moving. I'm trying to find a place
- 16:28Speaker 2: i can go win a ring.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And this is this is Kyle. This is also somebody
- 16:33Speaker 3: that's not just chasing rings like AJ was loyal. AJ's
- 16:37Speaker 3: come on here and said how different times he signed
- 16:40Speaker 3: back for less to stay in Chicago. So this is
- 16:43Speaker 3: somebody who understands legacy with a team, understands success with
- 16:48Speaker 3: the team, understands taking less. And it comes to a
- 16:53Speaker 3: point like it comes to a head at some point.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Byron Buxon has constantly been told or heard in the
- 16:59Speaker 3: media it can't stay healthy, can't stay healthy. Now he
- 17:03Speaker 3: stays healthy for a couple of seasons, and this team
- 17:08Speaker 3: then like kind of backpedals. They collapsed last year. This
- 17:13Speaker 3: season they just never got it going, never really, you know,
- 17:16Speaker 3: they had a couple of hot stretches, but they were
- 17:18Speaker 3: just poor. And then ownership says, I'm out, Like you
- 17:22Speaker 3: can change your tone, It's okay, you can change your mind.
- 17:27Speaker 1: From the perspective of other teams and the appeal of
- 17:30Speaker 1: acquiring a Byron Buckston. You guys mentioned health, and it's
- 17:33Speaker 1: interesting him staying healthy the last two years. It's all relative.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So last season, Byron Buckston played one hundred and twenty
- 17:38Speaker 1: six games. In twenty twenty four he played one hundred
- 17:40Speaker 1: and two, So he's missed forty to sixty games each
- 17:43Speaker 1: last two years. That's still the most games he had
- 17:46Speaker 1: played since twenty seventeen. So we know that when you
- 17:50Speaker 1: acquire Byron Buxton, you're looking at a tremendously talented player
- 17:53Speaker 1: who can impact the game in all sorts of ways
- 17:55Speaker 1: at the plate, on the bays, pass on defense. But
- 17:58Speaker 1: you also know realist you're hoping for one hundred to
- 18:03Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty games. From your guys' perspective, how
- 18:06Speaker 1: aggressive should teams be and potentially pursuing him given this
- 18:10Speaker 1: latest news.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I think teams will go for it. I think teams
- 18:14Speaker 2: will be all over it. I don't think that there's
- 18:15Speaker 2: any any doubt about it. I think if he can
- 18:17Speaker 2: get one hundred and twenty games out of him, and
- 18:19Speaker 2: he hits you thirty to forty homers and plays good
- 18:22Speaker 2: center field when he's out there, and steals his bases
- 18:25Speaker 2: for fifteen million, huh, teams will fall over themselves for this, right.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I mean, I still go back to Mike Trout, and
- 18:33Speaker 2: we all love Mike Trout, and we think Mike Trout
- 18:35Speaker 2: is one of the best players of all time. But
- 18:37Speaker 2: Mike Trout hasn't been to the playoffs in forever. He's
- 18:40Speaker 2: never won a playoff game, and he's kind of just
- 18:42Speaker 2: become faded to the wayside because he's his whole career
- 18:46Speaker 2: basically has been wasted in Anaheim. I don't want to
- 18:48Speaker 2: see that happen to Byron bucks and I want to
- 18:50Speaker 2: see him get an opportunity to win a ring.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Right, Well, here's your comp for you, then, Kyle, when
- 18:56Speaker 3: you ask about like would they go after him? Tyler
- 18:59Speaker 3: O'Neal got three years, forty nine million last offseason. If
- 19:03Speaker 3: you can get Byron Buxton, who maybe you know, they
- 19:06Speaker 3: both have some injury issues. Byron Buckston's injury issues aren't
- 19:09Speaker 3: quite the same as Tyler o'neils, but the talent is
- 19:14Speaker 3: through the roof. I mean, Tyler o'neils had some cool
- 19:17Speaker 3: stretches in his career where he's hit some dingers and
- 19:19Speaker 3: he's played some center field. But if you can get
- 19:22Speaker 3: Byron Buxton for five million less four million less than
- 19:25Speaker 3: what the Orioles had to pay Tyler O'Neil in free agency. Yes,
- 19:29Speaker 3: this would be a massive haul for whatever team is
- 19:32Speaker 3: looking for a center fielder.
- 19:35Speaker 1: For the record, I completely agree, and I'll be curious
- 19:38Speaker 1: to see also if the teams that pursue him want
- 19:40Speaker 1: to keep him in center or to keep him healthy,
- 19:43Speaker 1: potentially move him to a corner guys moving on to
- 19:45Speaker 1: another team. That was a big disappointment where the bottom
- 19:49Speaker 1: completely fell out. In twenty twenty five, the Atlanta Braves
- 19:52Speaker 1: Alexanthopolis has come out and said they need to add
- 19:54Speaker 1: quote unquote a lot of relievers, but they're going to
- 19:58Speaker 1: prioritize shortstop and a starting pitcher. We saw shortstop was
- 20:01Speaker 1: a mess for them last year. They started with Nick Allen,
- 20:03Speaker 1: then they acquired hass On Kim. They couldn't really find
- 20:06Speaker 1: a long term solution there. His quote was, we're gonna
- 20:08Speaker 1: focus on those spots. We'll see where those lead us,
- 20:12Speaker 1: what the acquisition costs are and all that. Then will
- 20:14Speaker 1: turn our attention to the bullpen. In terms of the
- 20:17Speaker 1: Braves approach this offseason, starters, shortstop, relief pitching. That the
- 20:21Speaker 1: order you think they should go and AJ, I'll start
- 20:23Speaker 1: with you.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you need well, first of all, you need a shortstop. Okay,
- 20:27Speaker 2: you can't play, you can't. Every good team has a
- 20:29Speaker 2: really good shortstop. So I mean the Dodgers, rookie bets,
- 20:32Speaker 2: the Blue Jays, even though Bobashak got hurt, they still
- 20:34Speaker 2: had Andre sim Innes at least defensively that was pretty
- 20:37Speaker 2: solid and got some huge hits for him. So you
- 20:38Speaker 2: need a good shortstop. That should be priority number one.
- 20:41Speaker 2: They have say, oh, they have Strider, they have Schollenbach,
- 20:43Speaker 2: they have some mis Sharver. All these guys are gonna
- 20:45Speaker 2: come back at some point, hopefully this year for him,
- 20:48Speaker 2: and pitch better than they did last year. I think
- 20:51Speaker 2: their starters are in a good spot. To me, they
- 20:52Speaker 2: need relievers and they priority number one has got to
- 20:56Speaker 2: be shortstop. And then you find some relievers and then
- 20:58Speaker 2: hope that some of these other guys and you use
- 21:00Speaker 2: a Sean Murphy if you have to to trade to
- 21:03Speaker 2: make some moves to get some certain people. But to me,
- 21:05Speaker 2: shortstop's one, relief two and starters are three. It's hard
- 21:09Speaker 2: to find a short stop to replace Dansby Swonson. Dancy
- 21:12Speaker 2: Swanson won a Gold Glove. He won a World Series
- 21:15Speaker 2: in twenty one then he was an All Star in
- 21:17Speaker 2: twenty two, won a Gold Glove, was an MVY I
- 21:20Speaker 2: think top fifteen in an MVP, so it's hard to
- 21:23Speaker 2: replace that. But they have done a poor job of
- 21:25Speaker 2: it since twenty two when Dansby left because Orlando Garcia
- 21:30Speaker 2: gave them the defense and that year he made the
- 21:33Speaker 2: All Star team, Like it was like, wow, we got
- 21:35Speaker 2: this guy for you know, they paid him nothing, and
- 21:39Speaker 2: now it's been tough. I would expect they're going to
- 21:43Speaker 2: be hard in on the Bobashek because he plays shortstop
- 21:47Speaker 2: in the big leagues. But I agree with AJ, like
- 21:50Speaker 2: if they're saying they're gonna go after starters, and Alex
- 21:52Speaker 2: Anthopos is probably one of the more upfront, open, honest
- 21:56Speaker 2: gms that we see out there that doesn't have as
- 21:58Speaker 2: much GM speak as everybody else, maybe they're gonna go
- 22:01Speaker 2: like a like a Dodger's from last year, in the
- 22:04Speaker 2: sense that the Dodgers had nine or ten I forget
- 22:08Speaker 2: legit starters, knowing what happened to the Braves is past
- 22:12Speaker 2: year where six of their premium primary starters spent significant
- 22:18Speaker 2: time on IL. Maybe they go out and they say, okay,
- 22:21Speaker 2: we're gonna sign three starting pitchers because of the fact
- 22:24Speaker 2: that we can option some of our young pitchers down
- 22:27Speaker 2: and just have a just have a massive haul of
- 22:30Speaker 2: starting pitchers. But I doubt they're gonna do that because
- 22:33Speaker 2: they don't have quite they don't have the money that
- 22:36Speaker 2: that the Dodgers do to spend on one spot. So
- 22:39Speaker 2: I think they're gonna go after those relievers and they're
- 22:41Speaker 2: just gonna bring in tons of relievers and see what happens.
- 22:44Speaker 3: The Red Sox did it. The Red Sox brought in
- 22:47Speaker 3: a ton of relievers in spring training and their bullpen
- 22:51Speaker 3: was I think they had the best bullpen era in baseball.
- 22:54Speaker 3: If not, it was the best bullpenny ra in the
- 22:56Speaker 3: second half. So there's different ways to do this, yes,
- 23:00Speaker 3: but shortstop is the key.
- 23:03Speaker 1: So guys, some interesting news about the upcoming LA twenty
- 23:06Speaker 1: twenty eight Olympics. Shoho Tani potentially looking at coming up
- 23:11Speaker 1: before the opening ceremony, and overall Major League Baseball is
- 23:15Speaker 1: looking at potentially scheduling some adjustments for players to participate
- 23:19Speaker 1: in the Olympics. Eric, you were part of the twenty
- 23:22Speaker 1: twenty Olympic qualifying team. Ultimately, those Olympics got pushed back,
- 23:26Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on active major leaguers getting a
- 23:29Speaker 1: chance to actually participate in the Olympics.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Do it? Do it? I'm a huge Olympic fan. Major
- 23:35Speaker 3: League Baseball said, you know what, we're going to own
- 23:37Speaker 3: the WBC. It's cash for us. They kind of said
- 23:43Speaker 3: to the Olympics, which I get it. You know, you
- 23:44Speaker 3: build a business, you're not going to be like, hey,
- 23:47Speaker 3: everyone else can do the other business. I'm not saying
- 23:49Speaker 3: it has to be a one or the other. It
- 23:53Speaker 3: can be a and or it can be both. So
- 23:57Speaker 3: I think I think the Olympics is every four years
- 24:01Speaker 3: for summer, every four years for winter, and it's something
- 24:04Speaker 3: that it doesn't really matter what sport is on. I
- 24:07Speaker 3: have it. I'm glued to the TV. I love watching
- 24:10Speaker 3: all Olympics stuff. So for baseball to be in it,
- 24:12Speaker 3: to me, I think it's a travesty that it's not
- 24:16Speaker 3: the best players in the world. Because Japan they have
- 24:20Speaker 3: all their best players that Team Samurai. They practice together
- 24:24Speaker 3: in the offseason. They are ready to go, and I
- 24:28Speaker 3: think that's what you're looking for for all the teams.
- 24:31Speaker 3: So I want to see the best big layers. It's
- 24:33Speaker 3: an opportunity to see everybody rather than you know, maybe
- 24:37Speaker 3: just an All Star game during that period.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah, aj, this would require.
- 24:41Speaker 2: A jumping to schedule. Yes, chuck of the schedule. But
- 24:45Speaker 2: also what is MLBO on the krut said the WBC
- 24:50Speaker 2: If they let major leaguers go play in the Olympics,
- 24:53Speaker 2: will that take away from the WBC something that's going
- 24:58Speaker 2: to have to be negotiated, right, But absolutely you throw
- 25:01Speaker 2: on your USA thing and you go, hey, we're gonna
- 25:04Speaker 2: We're gonna go try and win a gold medal. I'm
- 25:07Speaker 2: in and we need to figure out a way to
- 25:08Speaker 2: make this happen because we saw what happened with hockey
- 25:11Speaker 2: and the four Nations thing for the All Star break.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You got to take a chunk out of the season
- 25:17Speaker 2: and let the big leaguers go play to help, as
- 25:19Speaker 2: MLB says all the time, grow the game. What better
- 25:23Speaker 2: way to grow the game than having it in the Olympics,
- 25:25Speaker 2: explain with your best players in the world.
- 25:28Speaker 1: So we talk about the pressure of New York and
- 25:30Speaker 1: it extends beyond the players. It extends well into the
- 25:33Speaker 1: front office. We saw that the Yankees have reportedly fired
- 25:37Speaker 1: longtime international sky and director Donnie Rowland. Three major league
- 25:40Speaker 1: sources confirmed to The Athletic that was done this offseason.
- 25:44Speaker 1: There were some initial hits on the international market you
- 25:46Speaker 1: look at Gary Sanchez, Luis Savarina, etc. But in recent history,
- 25:51Speaker 1: the Yankees have had a lot of big dollar misses
- 25:53Speaker 1: in international signings. Eric, I'll start with you, because you
- 25:55Speaker 1: know this franchise so so so well, just what do
- 25:58Speaker 1: you make the news that Donnie Roland has been fired
- 26:00Speaker 1: and ultimately the Yankees are holding a major front office
- 26:03Speaker 1: leader accountable for their signing failures. I think it's tough.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I don't think we know I don't think we know
- 26:08Speaker 3: enough about international signing and what it takes for these guys.
- 26:13Speaker 3: But the fact that they've had success, and that's what
- 26:16Speaker 3: scouts really kind of hang their hats on. Oh well
- 26:19Speaker 3: he drafted this person. Oh he helped facilitate the signing
- 26:22Speaker 3: for this person. It is a it's a cavalcade of
- 26:27Speaker 3: people that are helping with these signings. So for him
- 26:30Speaker 3: to take this, you know what, there might be trying
- 26:33Speaker 3: to go in a different direction. Sixty two years old,
- 26:35Speaker 3: he's had a great career, probably would like to continue,
- 26:39Speaker 3: but you know what, it's a team effort. So maybe
- 26:42Speaker 3: he's taking the brun of this as the face of
- 26:46Speaker 3: the scouting Department International Scouting Department. But you know, is
- 26:50Speaker 3: it on him technically, No, just like when somebody does
- 26:53Speaker 3: pan out, when you do sign at Gary Sanchez for
- 26:56Speaker 3: however many million they signed him, like, it's not all success.
- 27:02Speaker 1: For that person either.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Who signed that guy? Yeah, Donny Rowland, it lose your job.
- 27:12Speaker 2: That's what happens if you don't I mean, if I'm
- 27:14Speaker 2: a player and I don't hit, guess what I get released.
- 27:18Speaker 2: It sucks, But it happens at every job. You don't perform,
- 27:20Speaker 2: you get fired. Yeah.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And what's tough with Donnie Rowland too? You talk about that.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's all a lot of what have you done for
- 27:27Speaker 1: me lately? Because you go back. He is the Angel
- 27:29Speaker 1: skying director for a number of years. He was responsible
- 27:32Speaker 1: for drafting John Lackie and a lot of guys who
- 27:33Speaker 1: helped the Angels become a World Series championship team and
- 27:36Speaker 1: have that run through the two thousands. Again, he's been
- 27:39Speaker 1: in the game for twenty three years. He spent last
- 27:41Speaker 1: fifteen years with the Yankees. I suld say the last
- 27:44Speaker 1: twenty three years overall in the Yankees organization last fifteen
- 27:47Speaker 1: as their international director. So there's been a lot of successes,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but again it's very much what have you done for
- 27:52Speaker 1: me lately? Kind of game.

- 28:54Speaker 3: More, young bet mgm odds for the season that Crochet
- 29:06Speaker 3: had to start at plus five hundred. And if you said, okay,
- 29:10Speaker 3: he's gonna lead the league and strikeout, he's gonna he's
- 29:13Speaker 3: gonna lead the league in innings, and then say at
- 29:16Speaker 3: the end of the year he's still had no shadow
- 29:18Speaker 3: winning it, would you have believed him aj Because Garret
- 29:22Speaker 3: Crochet started at plus five hundred ended at plus nine.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Hundred because he has no shadow winning. Uh No, but
- 29:31Speaker 2: I also do. He's in the league with Trek Scouble
- 29:34Speaker 2: and I knew that he was gonna have a hard time,
- 29:38Speaker 2: So no, I mean he listened. It. It's when you
- 29:42Speaker 2: have a guy that is as good as a guy
- 29:43Speaker 2: like Trek Scooble, okay, and he can pitch and pitch
- 29:46Speaker 2: and pitch and pitch, and he does his numbers and
- 29:48Speaker 2: he has his team and everyone looks at him and
- 29:50Speaker 2: he's won the award before you all. You have to
- 29:53Speaker 2: have a historic year to jump him again. Kind of
- 29:55Speaker 2: like what we're gonna talk about with the MVP But
- 29:58Speaker 2: to me, Garret Crochet had an unbelievable year. He just
- 30:00Speaker 2: had it in the wrong league, in the wrong year
- 30:02Speaker 2: with Trek's Schoobel. Trek Scooble misses a start here or there,
- 30:05Speaker 2: doesn't pitch grade all the time. Grek Crouchet is an
- 30:08Speaker 2: easy choice. But this year derek'school just better.
- 30:10Speaker 3: It sucks.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Yeah again, I mean we've talked about this. When Trek
- 30:16Speaker 1: Scooball has an era you know by you know, two
- 30:20Speaker 1: point two one, no one else is within you know,
- 30:22Speaker 1: twenty points of him. It just is what it is.
- 30:24Speaker 1: But it did a point that you know, Garrett Crochet,
- 30:26Speaker 1: all the questions we had coming into the year, can
- 30:28Speaker 1: he hold up under a starter's workload? He answered them.
- 30:31Speaker 1: So I do think it's a testament to him that
- 30:32Speaker 1: his odds went the way they did. And realistically he
- 30:35Speaker 1: is likely going to be the runner up.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yep.
- 30:40Speaker 2: You know what that gets you, Kyle, Nothing?
- 30:44Speaker 3: Nothing, Actually, it might get him some bonuses if he
- 30:46Speaker 3: stopped three inside young there might be a little little
- 30:48Speaker 3: bonus in his contract there.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah. But at the end of the day, I mean,
- 30:52Speaker 2: it's like it's like when you win the It's like
- 30:54Speaker 2: when you win the American League and you don't win
- 30:56Speaker 2: the World Series, Like, you get a second place ring,
- 30:58Speaker 2: cool sweet ring that you're never gonna wear.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You don't like the Ale Championship penance.
- 31:06Speaker 2: They're awesome, I mean they're awesome. I mean you don't
- 31:08Speaker 2: like it, but you remember them, but you also, I
- 31:11Speaker 2: mean you just it's one of those like, eh, do
- 31:15Speaker 2: I ever wear a second place ring?
- 31:17Speaker 3: Like? No, I don't know.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I've always wonder about that. How decked out are the
- 31:22Speaker 1: Pennant rings versus the World Series rings? Like, what's the
- 31:24Speaker 1: comparison here?
- 31:27Speaker 3: They're nice?
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I never lost the World Series, Kyle,
- 31:34Speaker 2: that is a good point.

- 31:49Speaker 1: Gambler Manager of the Year was announced yesterday, Pat Murphy
- 32:04Speaker 1: winning NL Manager the Year, Steven Vote winning American League
- 32:08Speaker 1: Manager of the Year. Pat Murphy became just he the
- 32:11Speaker 1: first Brewers manager to ever win the award, which is
- 32:14Speaker 1: kind of amazing when you consider some of the managers
- 32:16Speaker 1: they've had. He's only the second manager in NL history
- 32:19Speaker 1: to win it back to back years, joining a great
- 32:21Speaker 1: like Bobby Cox. Eric, I want to start with you.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Pat Murphy's had a really interesting career path. Famous college
- 32:26Speaker 1: coach Notre Dame at Arizona State, leaves kind of ignominiously
- 32:31Speaker 1: ends up having to work his way back up the
- 32:32Speaker 1: minor league ladder from the lowest levels of the Padters system,
- 32:35Speaker 1: gets a bench coach job, an internship, interim job with
- 32:37Speaker 1: the Padres, and here he is back to back Manager
- 32:40Speaker 1: of the Year, something only Bobby Cox has ever done
- 32:42Speaker 1: the National League.
- 32:43Speaker 3: He'll tell you, and he said it on the show.
- 32:47Speaker 3: All those steps got him to this point. Had he
- 32:51Speaker 3: gone Tony Batello straight from college to the big leagues,
- 32:57Speaker 3: he would have sucked, because he said, the person he
- 33:01Speaker 3: was as a college coach, he was going through things
- 33:03Speaker 3: in his life and decisions that he would make with
- 33:06Speaker 3: players and like. But what never changed about Murph is
- 33:10Speaker 3: his relationships. It's how he approaches them now. And I
- 33:14Speaker 3: think it goes to show, like you win Manager of
- 33:18Speaker 3: the Year his words, not mine. It's a team that
- 33:22Speaker 3: was not expected to do anything and exceeded those expectations.
- 33:27Speaker 3: I think that's what happens when you put somebody in
- 33:29Speaker 3: charge that gets the most out of players, because people
- 33:32Speaker 3: don't just players don't just become MVPs. They don't just
- 33:36Speaker 3: become like these amazing players like the players were already there.
- 33:40Speaker 3: How do you get the most out of them? How
- 33:42Speaker 3: do you get you know, a rookie of the Year
- 33:43Speaker 3: candidate in Durbin, How do you get the most out
- 33:46Speaker 3: of Joey Ortiz who didn't have the best of seasons,
- 33:50Speaker 3: but you know what, they slotted him in at a
- 33:53Speaker 3: premier position in shortstop. How do you get the most
- 33:56Speaker 3: out of Bryce terrang In, you know later in the
- 33:59Speaker 3: sea and when he had just a ridiculous I think
- 34:02Speaker 3: it was August. It's by that constant relationship, constantly building
- 34:08Speaker 3: these guys up, being honest with them and everything throughout
- 34:11Speaker 3: throughout the season.
- 34:12Speaker 1: And Pat does that all right. AJ. So we talked
- 34:15Speaker 1: about the Nationally Manager of the Year award, Manager of
- 34:17Speaker 1: the Year award winner and Pat Murphy steven vote fellow
- 34:20Speaker 1: catcher one American League Manager of the Year. It's what
- 34:23Speaker 1: were your thoughts on the job vote did and and
- 34:25Speaker 1: if he deserves to be the winner. I know you
- 34:27Speaker 1: and Ken had a little bit of back and forth
- 34:28Speaker 1: on this regarding John Schneider.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Listen, I'm happy for Voter. I love Voter, I love
- 34:34Speaker 2: going in talking to him. I think it's awesome. His
- 34:35Speaker 2: first two year, he win, he wins manager of the Year,
- 34:38Speaker 2: got as team to the postseason.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I just thought that the voters will be a little
- 34:44Speaker 2: bit tired of Stephen Vote, but they weren't. And you
- 34:46Speaker 2: know what, good for him, Steven Vote. I don't know,
- 34:48Speaker 2: you don't even think they give you. They even give
- 34:49Speaker 2: you a trophy for manager of the Year, don't. I
- 34:51Speaker 2: don't know if you get bonuses. But I think this
- 34:54Speaker 2: is an awesome accomplishment to put on it. And you
- 34:56Speaker 2: know what, Murphy and Voter a lot alike in the
- 34:58Speaker 2: fact that they kind of do what they're their own way,
- 35:00Speaker 2: and they have their own style, and they're very personable,
- 35:02Speaker 2: and they have a relationship with all twenty six guys
- 35:05Speaker 2: on their team and then all the front office and everybody.
- 35:07Speaker 2: So I think this is kind of a they're mirror
- 35:11Speaker 2: a little bit. Now. Now Murf tries to be a
- 35:12Speaker 2: little more funny than what Voter does. Voter is just
- 35:15Speaker 2: himself and you know Murph when if you've ever had
- 35:18Speaker 2: a meeting with Murph he talks. You can barely hear him.
- 35:22Speaker 1: He talks like this.
- 35:23Speaker 2: You're like, Murph, what can you speak up a little bit?
- 35:27Speaker 2: And whereas voters a little bit more serious. But I
- 35:29Speaker 2: think they have very similar personalities that they get to
- 35:32Speaker 2: know everybody, they figure out what they can work with
- 35:34Speaker 2: on them and they run with it.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Certainly do. By the way, they do get a plaque
- 35:41Speaker 1: from the BBWA, from manager up here, so they do
- 35:43Speaker 1: get something.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Okay, nice, I just plaque is cool banda.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Blacks that kind of as a member of the BBWA. Look,
- 35:52Speaker 1: we got to show the love, right the players, the managers, everyone,
- 35:55Speaker 1: everyone gets something. When you win something, it's a huge accomplishment.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Got to get something out of it.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Everybody gets a trophy, Kyle, No, just the winners. Oh yeah,
- 36:05Speaker 3: just my winners. John Schneider got nothing.
- 36:10Speaker 1: He does get an American League Championship ring, which you
- 36:13Speaker 1: guys have talked about. You don't love.
- 36:16Speaker 2: They're nice, They're nice, They're really nice. I don't.
- 36:20Speaker 3: It's just you'll always know who beat you and if
- 36:24Speaker 3: you ever come into it, if you're wearing your American
- 36:26Speaker 3: League Championship ring and somebody has a World Series ring
- 36:29Speaker 3: on in the same room. You gotta take it off
- 36:33Speaker 3: like they're they're ring hierarchy like you can't be you can't.
- 36:51Speaker 1: All right, Eric, the question everyone wants to know, what
- 36:54Speaker 1: how are you wearing today?
- 36:56Speaker 3: What's my TCU had? Of course, I mean since I'm
- 36:59Speaker 3: getting the oh wait, another Texas, of course we got
- 37:02Speaker 3: to skip on.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Why not?
- 37:04Speaker 3: You got to have your Rangers hat? And I'm expecting
- 37:07Speaker 3: a turnaround because if Skip can do what he did
- 37:09Speaker 3: in Florida, he's got a little bit better, more of
- 37:12Speaker 3: a talented roster.
- 37:13Speaker 2: In Texas, he does.
- 37:20Speaker 1: He does the big question I've always wondered, Eric, that's
- 37:24Speaker 1: part of our crats Hot segment. How many hats do
- 37:27Speaker 1: you actually own?
- 37:30Speaker 3: I know it's more than one hundred, and I know
- 37:33Speaker 3: it's more than one hundred and fifty two. I think
- 37:35Speaker 3: it was because I want one hundred and fifty two
- 37:37Speaker 3: straight without wearing the same hat again. And now New
- 37:41Speaker 3: Era has been very kind and they've sent me a
- 37:44Speaker 3: couple extra. My buddy over here to my left, he's
- 37:48Speaker 3: been very kind and sent me one from London, The
- 37:51Speaker 3: All Star game, so you got to You gotta have
- 37:54Speaker 3: your hook ups, so one day I'll count them all
- 38:00Speaker 4: On
