- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle, I guess, and oh my god,
- 0:05Speaker 1: today we're gonna talk about the last episode of eighty six,
- 0:09Speaker 1: episode twenty three, Right, Yeah, I don't know. I don't
- 0:13Speaker 1: know what you're saying about that. Maybe you had a
- 0:15Speaker 1: really good time with eighty six. Maybe you're like, thank
- 0:18Speaker 1: god it's over so we can do something else. I
- 0:20Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe you should. You should tell me. You
- 0:23Speaker 1: could like write to me, like in an email and say, hey,
- 0:26Speaker 1: this is how I felt about eighty six, Michelle, I
- 0:29Speaker 1: hate you. Something like that. That would be nice. So, yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: you know, you can always find my email address in
- 0:36Speaker 1: the show notes. But anyway, I didn't even know if
- 0:40Speaker 1: I was gonna be able to get to recording this
- 0:42Speaker 1: this week because it's been really crazy and stuff like that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And I went to Odicon and that was pretty good,
- 0:48Speaker 1: except that I'm a disaster person, so I was all
- 0:53Speaker 1: nauseous the whole time. But that's neither here nor there.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I suppose I just want to talk about eighty six,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so let's do that. So episode twenty three of eighty
- 1:04Speaker 1: six is called Handler one. Yay, that means Lena's probably
- 1:09Speaker 1: in this episode or something. And it starts not exactly
- 1:14Speaker 1: the same spot that we left off in twenty two,
- 1:18Speaker 1: which was like when everybody was kind of making fun
- 1:21Speaker 1: of Shin and his conversation with Lena in that like
- 1:24Speaker 1: meeting room. But anyway, this episode starts out with a
- 1:29Speaker 1: church at a Christmas tree and it's snowing, and it's
- 1:33Speaker 1: December twenty fourth, twenty one forty nine, so about two
- 1:36Speaker 1: months later, we see like that kind of Christmas village
- 1:41Speaker 1: area for a minute, and then Ernst in his house
- 1:45Speaker 1: setting off confetti, wearing like reindeer ears and a red nose,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and he's like, welcome back. Teresa is also there, and
- 1:53Speaker 1: she a little bit more sedate, says welcome home and
- 1:56Speaker 1: sets off confetti as well. Spearhad is standing in the
- 2:00Speaker 1: doorway looking, you know, kind of confused, and Ernest continues,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm so happy you're back safe. It's important to get
- 2:07Speaker 1: off the front line so you can rest. I've got gifts.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Then we see shots of all of them holding their gifts,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and Ernst continues, Man, the year just flew by. This
- 2:16Speaker 1: is your second holy birth festival. I'm happy that this
- 2:19Speaker 1: time I actually get to give you your presents. They all
- 2:22Speaker 1: kind of smile at him. And start to walk past
- 2:25Speaker 1: him into the room because they're still standing by the door,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and as each one of them walks past him, they
- 2:31Speaker 1: all say to daima, which means I'm home in Japanese,
- 2:35Speaker 1: which I thought was really really cool because it's it's
- 2:38Speaker 1: a bigger deal something that you say when you walk
- 2:41Speaker 1: into your house, so it means that they feel like
- 2:44Speaker 1: they're home, which is so nice, and even Shinn says
- 2:48Speaker 1: it at the end, and Ernest looks really shocked for
- 2:50Speaker 1: a second, and then he kind of like smiles and sighs,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and Frederica is like, I'm happy for you. Ernth says yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and Frederick is like time for a part, and ern says,
- 3:02Speaker 1: are your arithmetic drills done? Frederica kind of gasps, and
- 3:06Speaker 1: she's like, your punishments always teach me so much. We
- 3:11Speaker 1: cut to fire kind of roaring in a fireplace, and
- 3:15Speaker 1: there's like marshmallows on sticks kind of placed in front
- 3:18Speaker 1: of the grate like they're just leaning on it, which
- 3:21Speaker 1: seems dangerous, Like you gotta you gotta keep an eye
- 3:23Speaker 1: on those. Anyway. They're opening like their presence in the
- 3:27Speaker 1: living room as Ernest stands there watching and we see
- 3:30Speaker 1: that riding, got like a set of tools, and Karina
- 3:33Speaker 1: got this like really ugly pink purse. On you got
- 3:37Speaker 1: a spatula. I hope she got more than a spatula,
- 3:40Speaker 1: but that's all I saw. And then Sin got like
- 3:42Speaker 1: a bunch of cookbooks, which seems kind of mean because
- 3:45Speaker 1: we know he's not a very good cook. Anyway, we
- 3:47Speaker 1: cut to on you at cooking class, and everyone is
- 3:51Speaker 1: like super fucking impressed by how amazing all these multiple
- 3:55Speaker 1: dishes she made, look, which I thought was really interesting
- 3:57Speaker 1: because in that first time she was a cooking class,
- 4:00Speaker 1: she only made desserts, and I thought that was weird
- 4:03Speaker 1: because obviously Ana cookn cook whatever the fuck she wants to.
- 4:05Speaker 1: She's cooked before. But I think maybe cooking like kind
- 4:09Speaker 1: of non dessert food was more like tied to her past,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and she just didn't want to. So she's like opening
- 4:14Speaker 1: up and having a good time. And then we see
- 4:16Speaker 1: Corrina coming out of like a dressing room wearing like
- 4:19Speaker 1: a kind of black jacket with this really boring gray
- 4:22Speaker 1: top and this blue skirt, and the shop lady from
- 4:26Speaker 1: earlier way back. She looks super happy and she's like
- 4:29Speaker 1: nodding at her, and then Karina notices like some black
- 4:32Speaker 1: boots sitting on a shelf, and we cut to her
- 4:35Speaker 1: skipping off down the street happily wearing them.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeay.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Then we go to Shin and Frederica who are in
- 4:41Speaker 1: the kitchen. Frederica is cutting some French bread and it
- 4:45Speaker 1: looks like they have a recipe open to make French toasts,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then Fredrika looks really upset because Shin got like
- 4:51Speaker 1: eggshells in the bowl. I should tell you right now
- 4:53Speaker 1: that there's no sound. We just have a song playing
- 4:56Speaker 1: over all of these shots. Anyway. I guess that he
- 4:59Speaker 1: gets the shells out, but I don't really know. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: then we see everyone sitting at the table except for Riding,
- 5:08Speaker 1: like with French toast in front of them, and Aju
- 5:12Speaker 1: drops her knife in shock, and then we see her
- 5:15Speaker 1: bring a plate to ride in who's in the garage
- 5:17Speaker 1: making a shelf, and they have some sort of exchange.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I guess about like, oh my god, what the fuck
- 5:23Speaker 1: Stion made this? I thought he couldn't cook kind of deal.
- 5:26Speaker 1: We go to THEO, who is using a set of
- 5:29Speaker 1: colored pencils, which we didn't see what he got, but
- 5:31Speaker 1: that's probably what it is, which is the most appropriate
- 5:34Speaker 1: gift that any of them have gotten. And he's finished drawing,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and he's drawn this like wide shot of like a
- 5:41Speaker 1: beach with all of Spearhead and Fido standing on it,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and he smiles. We get this quick time lapse of
- 5:47Speaker 1: the outside of Ernest's home, like over a few days,
- 5:50Speaker 1: like the sun coming up and going down, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: and then back to the fire in the fireplace again.
- 5:55Speaker 1: THEO is sitting in a chair and he's looking at
- 5:58Speaker 1: a tablet and Riding is leaning over him, and THEO
- 6:01Speaker 1: says independent Mobile Force, right, and it's like, basically, it
- 6:06Speaker 1: means we kick legion ass like we've always done. Okay, Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 1: The rest of them are there too in the room.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They're in the living room, and Ernst is like, yes,
- 6:14Speaker 1: this is a proposal for me as an individual to
- 6:17Speaker 1: grant your request to fight on the front lines. Oh,
- 6:20Speaker 1: the issue is the foreign officer who will serve as
- 6:22Speaker 1: your commander. They all kind of lean over THEO as
- 6:25Speaker 1: he clicks something on the tablets. Their faces don't change
- 6:29Speaker 1: at all when they see whatever it is, and Theo's like,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm okay with it. Karina says fine by me, Andrew's
- 6:37Speaker 1: like yeah, righton says yep, and Ernst is like, Shin,
- 6:42Speaker 1: what do you think? Shin is just looking at the tablets,
- 6:46Speaker 1: and Frederica stares at him like kind of confused and
- 6:49Speaker 1: really annoyed, and he just continues to stare at it,
- 6:54Speaker 1: his mouth turned up just slightly on one side. Yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I I wonder who it is, right, I mean, I
- 7:02Speaker 1: have an idea of who it would be, because it
- 7:04Speaker 1: seems like it's pretty obvious, but who knows. I could
- 7:08Speaker 1: be wrong anyway. We cut to a plane flying overhead
- 7:12Speaker 1: of like a city or something and snowing, and Ernst
- 7:15Speaker 1: is in his office and he's looking up out of
- 7:18Speaker 1: the window at the plane, and someone is saying, Western
- 7:21Speaker 1: theatre forces sustained sixty percent losses. We're speeding up the
- 7:25Speaker 1: curriculum at all the officer training schools, specialist training schools
- 7:29Speaker 1: in boot camps to replace the lost man power. Fuck.
- 7:32Speaker 1: We see that General Richards and dark haired guy who
- 7:36Speaker 1: I finally figured out what his name is. It's Willem.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I just looked it up in like the eighty six wiki.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Thanks Internet, so now we know what his name is.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So they are standing in front of Ernst as he's
- 7:46Speaker 1: just continuing to look out the window as they talk,
- 7:49Speaker 1: which is kind of rude, but I think he's just
- 7:51Speaker 1: not in a great mood because he just heard that
- 7:53Speaker 1: sixty percent of their Western theater forces were killed. So
- 7:57Speaker 1: I get it anyway, Willem says, but they won't have
- 8:00Speaker 1: the training they need. General Richards like, and while the
- 8:04Speaker 1: Legion lost their combat forces, their manufacturing facilities were unharmed.
- 8:08Speaker 1: The war situation is only gonna get worse, Ernst says,
- 8:12Speaker 1: So unless something changes, humanity will be slowly worn down
- 8:16Speaker 1: until we finally lose correct. General Richards is like, yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 1: Willem says, we'll maintain our defensive lines as we have
- 8:23Speaker 1: been while putting together an independent mobile unit that can
- 8:26Speaker 1: bring concentrated firepower down on the critical Legion areas. I
- 8:29Speaker 1: didn't expect you to put together the same plan we had.
- 8:32Speaker 1: General Richards is like a mobile straightforce comprised entirely of
- 8:36Speaker 1: eighty six If you'll forgive me for saying, so this
- 8:41Speaker 1: doesn't sound like you. Ernst is still looking out the window,
- 8:44Speaker 1: by the way, and he says, sure, but they're the
- 8:47Speaker 1: ones who wanted it. He looks down at the table,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but has a tablet with Shin's info open on it,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and it says like a bunch of stuff about his powers.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But it's all like pretty not interesting, so I'm not
- 8:58Speaker 1: gonna tell you what it says. And he continues, they
- 9:02Speaker 1: have their own values. I don't have the right to
- 9:04Speaker 1: refuse them out of misplaced pity. If they still choose
- 9:07Speaker 1: the battlefield after all that's happened, I'd like them to
- 9:10Speaker 1: be able to stay together. Ah Uh, Willem says, will
- 9:13Speaker 1: the eighty six except this foreign officer, though Ernst is like,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I've talked to them already. Willem looks kind of confused,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and Ernst continues, I was worried as well, but I
- 9:24Speaker 1: guess I shouldn't have been. He puts his hands behind
- 9:27Speaker 1: his head and kind of leans back. After all, we
- 9:31Speaker 1: cut to the plane flying overhead, so we don't hear
- 9:33Speaker 1: what he says. But then we go back to them,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and Willem looks shocked, and General Richard just kind of smiles. Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 1: We briefly cut back to Shin's file on Ernst's desk,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and then to someone putting change in someone else's hands,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and that person's holding flowers. We see now that there's
- 9:51Speaker 1: a woman standing at a flower stall outside and Shin
- 9:54Speaker 1: is standing in front of her, holding like white lilies
- 9:57Speaker 1: and it's still snowing, and the woman says this is
- 10:00Speaker 1: from me. Shin's like, thank you. Shin now is walking
- 10:04Speaker 1: through a graveyard and he stops at a grave and says,
- 10:09Speaker 1: it's been a long time. Eugene. The grave says, Eugene
- 10:12Speaker 1: fronts twenty one thirty two to twenty one forty nine,
- 10:16Speaker 1: fought for his family and pride. We will remember him forever.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh uh, Shin continues, Sorry, I couldn't come sooner. He
- 10:24Speaker 1: lays the flowers down in front of the grave. Eugene,
- 10:28Speaker 1: the Western Front is just the same as it was
- 10:30Speaker 1: when you were here. It's still hanging in there somehow.
- 10:33Speaker 1: He kneels. You asked me before why I fought right.
- 10:38Speaker 1: To be honest, I still don't know. I don't have
- 10:40Speaker 1: a reason to fight the way you did. But there's
- 10:43Speaker 1: one thing I know, and that's I I promise to
- 10:47Speaker 1: take them all the way to the end, and a
- 10:49Speaker 1: battlefield isn't what I want them to see when they
- 10:51Speaker 1: get there. He notices something on the ground and he
- 10:54Speaker 1: picks it up, and it's an envelope wrapped in plastic
- 10:57Speaker 1: which is good because it's still snowing and it has
- 10:59Speaker 1: a pink whale sticker on it. He flips it over
- 11:02Speaker 1: and sees that the front has a picture of a
- 11:04Speaker 1: whale in the ocean, and he says, the ocean the
- 11:09Speaker 1: thing you wanted your sister to see someday. I don't
- 11:11Speaker 1: care about seeing it myself. We see a footstepping through
- 11:15Speaker 1: the snow, and then back to Shin. But I want
- 11:18Speaker 1: them to see it. I think if I can show
- 11:22Speaker 1: them something new, something they've never seen before, that'll be
- 11:26Speaker 1: enough of reason to fight for now. I'll come back.
- 11:29Speaker 1: When I do, I'll tell you about something you've never
- 11:31Speaker 1: seen before. So Shin is still not living for himself,
- 11:34Speaker 1: but at least he's gonna keep living, so I guess
- 11:38Speaker 1: that's a start. And he's just so fucking kind anyway.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He stands and he turns to see someone approaching, and
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's Marcel, and he looks like super sad and he's
- 11:51Speaker 1: doing his best, and he's doing his best not to
- 11:54Speaker 1: look at Shin, and Shin's like Marcel. Marcel walks a
- 11:58Speaker 1: little closer and says, Nina puts them there, Eugene's little sister.
- 12:03Speaker 1: He walks to the grave, and Chin kind of moves
- 12:05Speaker 1: out of the way, and he kneels down and picks
- 12:07Speaker 1: up the letter. She keeps writing letters to her dead brother.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Shin says, it's my fault. He walks past Marcel. Marcel
- 12:17Speaker 1: grips the letter tightly and frowns. Wait. Shin stops and
- 12:21Speaker 1: looks back. Marcel is now holding the letter over his eyes,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and he says, why do you just accept it? He
- 12:28Speaker 1: stands it was me these letters. I was the one
- 12:31Speaker 1: who made to write these letters to you. I was
- 12:33Speaker 1: just so angry and frustrated. But he didn't want to
- 12:35Speaker 1: blame myself, so I pretended it was all your faults.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm sorry. He drops his knees with his hand over
- 12:42Speaker 1: his face. I'm so sorry. Shin walks back over and
- 12:47Speaker 1: kneels down in front of him. I'm sorry, Marcel gasps.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Shin's like, I need to apologize to you and to her.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Oh God, Shin, no, you don't. Shin is walking away
- 13:00Speaker 1: again now, and he passes Nina, who is going in
- 13:03Speaker 1: the direction of Eugene's grave, and she has flowers. I
- 13:08Speaker 1: think she also has white lilies, and we hear Sin
- 13:11Speaker 1: say aye, but then nothing and Nina reaches Eugene's grave
- 13:15Speaker 1: and Marcelle is still standing there and he shakes his head,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and Nina sees that there's a note next to her
- 13:22Speaker 1: letter and she picks it up. She gasps and then
- 13:25Speaker 1: looks back at Shin as he fades out into the snow,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and Marcelle says, it's good to see him smiling. Huh,
- 13:33Speaker 1: and I was like what. But Nina looks down and
- 13:35Speaker 1: we see that it's not a note, it's a picture
- 13:37Speaker 1: of Shin and Eugene together, and Eugene looks so happy
- 13:42Speaker 1: and Shin does not look happy at all. Nina smiles
- 13:45Speaker 1: and she holds it to her chest and she says
- 13:49Speaker 1: thank you really loudly, and I'm pretty sure Shin hears her.
- 13:54Speaker 1: We see him walking away for a second, and then
- 13:56Speaker 1: it flips to him at a different time but the
- 13:59Speaker 1: same shot, and we hear THEO say, Shin, you're not
- 14:03Speaker 1: gonna change your personal mark. Shin looks over at THEO,
- 14:06Speaker 1: who is pointing to the side of his Reagan leaf
- 14:08Speaker 1: and he's holding a pen in his hand, and we
- 14:10Speaker 1: see that they're like outside with like a bunch of
- 14:13Speaker 1: Ragan leaves and stuff, and Shin's like you don't like it.
- 14:17Speaker 1: THEO says, I don't mind painting it, but it's a
- 14:19Speaker 1: bit of a bad Omen. Andju and Karna are watching
- 14:23Speaker 1: a bit intrigued, and I think so is riding, And
- 14:27Speaker 1: THEO continues, this is a weird thing to say, but
- 14:30Speaker 1: do you really need to carry it anymore? Chin takes
- 14:33Speaker 1: a moment and then sighs, maybe you're right, but it
- 14:37Speaker 1: can't be a bad omen after I've had it for
- 14:39Speaker 1: six years and I don't think of it as a
- 14:41Speaker 1: heavy burden. THEO says, sure, sure, and he starts drawing
- 14:45Speaker 1: it right, and it's like, looks like you're over some stuff.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's how it seems to me. Shin maybe half laughs
- 14:52Speaker 1: and says, I couldn't say, but I think I can
- 14:55Speaker 1: see them off. Now. We kind of focus in on
- 14:59Speaker 1: Shin's jacket pop and then we see Shin's uniform other
- 15:03Speaker 1: uniform jacket pocket and he's at that memorial that they
- 15:07Speaker 1: made for the eighty six and everything, and it's March twentieth,
- 15:11Speaker 1: twenty one point fifty. He kneels in front of the
- 15:14Speaker 1: toolbox and opens it and he takes Ray's metal piece
- 15:18Speaker 1: out of his pocket and he goes to put it
- 15:20Speaker 1: in the box with the rest, and he just can't.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He kind of pauses and then draws back his hands
- 15:25Speaker 1: slightly and says brother. He closes his eyes and thinks,
- 15:31Speaker 1: it's hard to envision a future without my brother. I
- 15:33Speaker 1: don't have anything to wish for anything I'm seeking. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: still don't know what I'm living for. But the credits
- 15:39Speaker 1: start rolling. There's a flash to like all of their marks,
- 15:44Speaker 1: but Shins is still not finished, and THEO says, I'm
- 15:47Speaker 1: really gonna paint it. Okay. They are all just staring
- 15:50Speaker 1: at you In, and Shin stares back for a minute,
- 15:53Speaker 1: smiling kind of vaguely, and then to them he says
- 15:56Speaker 1: I and then it's just inaudible, but it looks like
- 15:59Speaker 1: it's two syllables. And I don't know what he said,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but right In looks mildly shocked and smiles like the
- 16:07Speaker 1: fucking idiots, And we hear Shin say I have people
- 16:10Speaker 1: who don't plan on leaving me behind. Ah. All of
- 16:13Speaker 1: them are smiling at him, and then we also cut
- 16:16Speaker 1: to Fido, Frederica, Ernst and Greth, and Shin continues, who
- 16:20Speaker 1: said I'm the one they want to stay by their side.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We see Lena aw. We go back to Shin, still
- 16:28Speaker 1: holding raised metal piece, and he continues, so I think
- 16:32Speaker 1: I'm okay. He puts the piece down in the toolbox.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I think I can get there alone, and then out loud,
- 16:39Speaker 1: he says thank you, and he closes the box. He stands,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and the screen like kind of brightens, and the background
- 16:49Speaker 1: morphs to all of his dead comrades standing behind him,
- 16:53Speaker 1: holding their heads in their hands, with their like eyes
- 16:56Speaker 1: glowing blue and their Legion like kind of behind them,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and just a umble of voices, and Shin turns to
- 17:02Speaker 1: them and says, I know I haven't forgotten you. I
- 17:07Speaker 1: We see some quick shots of him in a couple
- 17:09Speaker 1: of different uniforms, and then his mark, which is now finished,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and he continues, I'm the Reaper. We get a low
- 17:16Speaker 1: shot of him stepping forward to the exit of the memorial,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and then to a white bird kind of flying through
- 17:21Speaker 1: this night sky that's like really really sparkly, and Chin continues,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I'll fight because with the Legion keeping this world closed off,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I can't make it happen. Flying Legion approach the white
- 17:32Speaker 1: bird and it like soars through them and it reaches
- 17:35Speaker 1: blue skies where it's joined by five other birds, which
- 17:39Speaker 1: is pretty fucking cool because those only five of Spearhead totals,
- 17:43Speaker 1: so that means maybe we're including Lena. We see the
- 17:47Speaker 1: toolbox and Chin continues for their sake. Then we see
- 17:51Speaker 1: Spearhead for their sake. Then we see all of Spearhead
- 17:55Speaker 1: standing kind of next to each other outside and shin salutes,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and for her aw we get the title card Episode
- 18:03Speaker 1: twenty three, handler one. Yeah, back from the break Maybe
- 18:10Speaker 1: we cut two cracked and broken windows looking out on
- 18:14Speaker 1: a destroyed white city and it's snowing. It's December twenty sixth,
- 18:18Speaker 1: twenty one forty nine. It's a little bit back now.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Tepi's cat bull is on the floor and has snow
- 18:24Speaker 1: on it, and we hear some like jingling or rustling,
- 18:28Speaker 1: and then Lena's standing in front of her bedroom windows
- 18:31Speaker 1: looking around. Her feet crunch on the broken glass as
- 18:35Speaker 1: she walks to her desk, and she picks up her
- 18:38Speaker 1: pegboard and kind of looks at her fondly, and then
- 18:41Speaker 1: she puts it back down and she says, it's thanks
- 18:45Speaker 1: to you that I was able to come back. She
- 18:47Speaker 1: starts to take some things off of the board, and
- 18:51Speaker 1: we see like some flashbacks of the fights in the city,
- 18:55Speaker 1: and then we see Lena holding some little faces in
- 18:58Speaker 1: her hands and she says, I won't forget. She clutches
- 19:03Speaker 1: them to her face like she's about to cry. And
- 19:06Speaker 1: then we see her closing the glass box with all
- 19:09Speaker 1: the faces in it, and she salutes at it. Back
- 19:11Speaker 1: on her board, we see that besides all of the
- 19:14Speaker 1: Spearhead members, there are only three others left. She looks
- 19:17Speaker 1: down and catches a glimpse of a picture of her
- 19:19Speaker 1: and her parents laying on the floor. Then we see
- 19:22Speaker 1: her in a graveyard where she pushes the snow off
- 19:24Speaker 1: a grave and she puts a jacket over it. She
- 19:27Speaker 1: kneels in front of the grave of return father. The
- 19:30Speaker 1: grave says Baclav Milise three fifteen twenty one oh three
- 19:35Speaker 1: to four thirteen twenty one forty, and then it's cut
- 19:38Speaker 1: off because the jackets over it. She continues, allegian offensive
- 19:43Speaker 1: began the night of the revolution festival. Many of my
- 19:46Speaker 1: comrades fought, as did I. We see lots of guns
- 19:49Speaker 1: and boots sticking up out of the snow. She continues.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Many of the people in the eighty sixth district answered
- 19:56Speaker 1: my call and fall with us. She's just kind of
- 19:58Speaker 1: walking through the graveyard past all these like guns and boots.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Now I won't forget. She looks up at a like
- 20:06Speaker 1: dead mech. I think it's a juggernaut and continues, but
- 20:09Speaker 1: the Republic is gone good. I guess this is that
- 20:14Speaker 1: graveyard with like memorial in it that she was at
- 20:17Speaker 1: way way back in Core one, and it's just fucked up.
- 20:21Speaker 1: There's like dead mechs everywhere, and things are like crumbling
- 20:24Speaker 1: and stuff, and she continues, it only took a week.
- 20:28Speaker 1: We cut to some ice like frozen. I think it's
- 20:32Speaker 1: that fountain that's you know that has sand Magnolia next
- 20:35Speaker 1: to it, but I'm not really sure. So in the
- 20:38Speaker 1: reflection of the ice, we see the Federacy's flag flying
- 20:41Speaker 1: over it, and in the ice are a bunch of
- 20:44Speaker 1: beer bottles and the sand Magnolia flag. We cut to
- 20:47Speaker 1: that really large street that has the trolleys that usually
- 20:50Speaker 1: go down it, and there's just some army vehicles on
- 20:52Speaker 1: it now, and we see Lena's feet walk past, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: she continues. We still manage to keep a defensive line going,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and after two months past rescue came. She's walking down
- 21:02Speaker 1: the street, and there's some other Alba on the other
- 21:05Speaker 1: side walking, and she continues from the far east, past
- 21:09Speaker 1: Legion held territory and her own borders. We see some
- 21:13Speaker 1: people standing near some Max, not San Magnolia Max, like
- 21:16Speaker 1: Federacy Max, and so I guess they are Federacy soldiers.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And then there are some eighty six on the street
- 21:22Speaker 1: and they wave to her as she passes, and Lena
- 21:24Speaker 1: salutes and continues. They the Giad Federacy already knew about
- 21:30Speaker 1: the oppression and the slaughter of the eighty six. We
- 21:32Speaker 1: see some eighty six just kind of hanging around and
- 21:34Speaker 1: talking outside, and then that sign in the background that
- 21:37Speaker 1: used to say eighty six stay away, now it says
- 21:40Speaker 1: white pigs stay away. And then we see a very
- 21:44Speaker 1: fucked up sag Magnolia statue without a head and paint
- 21:48Speaker 1: splattered on it, and Lanta continues, the survivors of the
- 21:51Speaker 1: eighty sixth district were saved, and any who want to
- 21:55Speaker 1: can become Federacy citizens. Okay, Now we see San Magnolia's
- 21:59Speaker 1: statue head just on the ground, also pain all over it,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and there's some graffiti next to it on the wall
- 22:05Speaker 1: that says goodbye. And also oh my god or omg. Actually,
- 22:09Speaker 1: then we see some eighty six standing around outside, including cyclops,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and Lena says, the awful things have stopped. There are
- 22:17Speaker 1: some Federacy folks talking to them all, but now she continues,
- 22:20Speaker 1: the rescue forces remain here, providing us a modicum of support.
- 22:24Speaker 1: But we cut two people waiting in a line to
- 22:27Speaker 1: get food, you know, like outside, and it looks like
- 22:31Speaker 1: they're getting soup and bread from like Federacy soldiers, and
- 22:35Speaker 1: this one guy's like, hey, he got more than I did,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and another Alba guy's like, do your jobs, and the
- 22:41Speaker 1: third Alba guy says, can you college treat us equally? Fuck?
- 22:46Speaker 1: The Federacy soldiers are just staring them down, like what
- 22:50Speaker 1: the fuck, dude, we're feeding you, And there's this long
- 22:53Speaker 1: pause and finally that first Alba like huffs and he's like,
- 22:56Speaker 1: how did it end up like this? I could tell you,
- 23:00Speaker 1: And then we cut to a person who we can't see,
- 23:03Speaker 1: angrily stabbing a fork at an empty tray, and then
- 23:06Speaker 1: a sign that says welcome to the Republic of San
- 23:09Speaker 1: Magnolia and has like some kids, I'm like all the
- 23:11Speaker 1: kids on it, and some like happy looking animals and
- 23:13Speaker 1: it just has a red X through it. We hear
- 23:16Speaker 1: Lena say, there can be no punishment for a citizenry
- 23:20Speaker 1: that's not aware of its crimes? Is uncle right? Father? No?
- 23:25Speaker 1: She is still walking and she exhales and looks down.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Then she hears a mew and looks up and smiles.
- 23:32Speaker 1: We cut to her in the same pose, but looking
- 23:34Speaker 1: really really dour and definitely inside somewhere, and a voice
- 23:38Speaker 1: says Colonel Malise TEPPI is like curling around her legs. Yay,
- 23:43Speaker 1: Teppy's okay, And the voice says, is that and Lena's like,
- 23:48Speaker 1: ignore it please. She is standing in an office before
- 23:53Speaker 1: like that boss of hers that we saw that one
- 23:56Speaker 1: other time, that like she really hates, and it's like
- 23:58Speaker 1: a piece of shit, And there are these two Federacy
- 24:01Speaker 1: people sitting at a table like kind of on the side,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and her boss is like, I see as you know,
- 24:09Speaker 1: it was the brave soldiers of the Federacy, equipped with
- 24:12Speaker 1: the latest weaponry, who valiantly pushed back the battle lines
- 24:16Speaker 1: and retook the first district where we find ourselves today. Correct,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he's such a piece of shit. The two Federacy soldiers
- 24:25Speaker 1: are like side eyeing him because he's a piece of shit,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and Lena's like, yes, it's important to note that he
- 24:33Speaker 1: used to have pictures on his desk of him like
- 24:35Speaker 1: shaking hands with like important Republic people, and now he
- 24:38Speaker 1: has pictures of him with like eighty six like smiling
- 24:43Speaker 1: with them and stuff, because he's a piece of shit.
- 24:46Speaker 1: And he continues, the Federacy has requested that we send
- 24:49Speaker 1: an officer to help them break the stalemate north of
- 24:51Speaker 1: District one and retake the land stolen by the Legion.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I'm told you've volunteered to lead the unit assigned to
- 24:57Speaker 1: this task. Is that correct? Yeah? Lena's like, that is correct.
- 25:03Speaker 1: The guy stands and kind of chuckles, and he's like,
- 25:05Speaker 1: as you're a superior officer, I knew you'd agree. Teppy
- 25:09Speaker 1: just starts fucking hissing at him, and he continues, I
- 25:13Speaker 1: feel the same good luck out there. Teppy hisses some more.
- 25:18Speaker 1: We cut to Annette, who was working at a computer
- 25:20Speaker 1: and she says, so you're going to the Federacy. Then
- 25:24Speaker 1: Lena is laying in bed. Her powerade is like connected
- 25:28Speaker 1: to like a laptop computer next to her with like
- 25:31Speaker 1: a plug and stuff, and she says yeah, they are
- 25:35Speaker 1: in a net's bedroom. I think a net makes kind
- 25:37Speaker 1: of a noise that I didn't really know what it means,
- 25:40Speaker 1: and Lena's like, You're not surprised. We get kind of
- 25:43Speaker 1: a shot at the exterior and it looks like where
- 25:45Speaker 1: Annette lives wasn't like affected by all of the bombing
- 25:49Speaker 1: and horrible things, because it looks pretty okay, which is
- 25:52Speaker 1: good for her. Yay anyway, Annette says, after all that's happened,
- 25:56Speaker 1: if something like that could surprise me, I would have
- 25:59Speaker 1: ditched you long ago. You kind of did, But okay, Lena,
- 26:02Speaker 1: size Annett continues, ever since that day, You've been full
- 26:06Speaker 1: of surprises. We get some flashbacks of Lena doing stuff,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and then we see her like walking down the tracks
- 26:12Speaker 1: as her unit and a net watch, and Anet continues,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I've had a lifetime's worth of surprises already. She pauses
- 26:19Speaker 1: for a second. What Lena's like, what is it? Annette says,
- 26:24Speaker 1: why is that possible? She turns towards Lena because she
- 26:27Speaker 1: was looking at her computer. This raid device the Federacy
- 26:30Speaker 1: made for some reason. It has the same design as
- 26:32Speaker 1: the Republic. She's showing Lena like a slightly broken Federacy
- 26:36Speaker 1: raid device. Lena looks super confused, and Annette says, is
- 26:40Speaker 1: it chance, No, there's no in hell, it's by chance.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Lena's like, what do you mean. Annette says, the Federacy
- 26:49Speaker 1: made it, but it's got our tech in it. You
- 26:52Speaker 1: couldn't do this without help from a living eighty six.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Lana gasps cool, and Annette says, but I can't imagine
- 26:59Speaker 1: any eighties making contact with the Federacy before the Legion offensive.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Lena's eyes widened and she looks over at her peg
- 27:06Speaker 1: board and she kind of starts to move towards it
- 27:08Speaker 1: and isn't paying attention and disconnects her power raid and
- 27:12Speaker 1: that kind of like zaps her out of the moments. Anyway,
- 27:15Speaker 1: the laptop starts to beep and that's like oh, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: she like turns it off and Lena's like sorry. Annette
- 27:21Speaker 1: pushes her chair back across the room to the main
- 27:23Speaker 1: computer and is like, well, I guess the answers will
- 27:26Speaker 1: be waiting for us there. Lena sits up. Annette, why
- 27:30Speaker 1: do you have a Federacy breed device? And that's like
- 27:33Speaker 1: because I volunteered. Lena looks confused. Annette continues, I'm being
- 27:37Speaker 1: sent as a technology officer. She turns to Lena, I'm
- 27:41Speaker 1: going to the Federacy too. Lena looks mildly surprised, and
- 27:45Speaker 1: Annette continues, when you said you were going to do
- 27:47Speaker 1: everything you could until the end. She stands, I stop
- 27:50Speaker 1: feeling as though nothing I did would matter. It's not
- 27:53Speaker 1: just me. We see some folks kind of outside and
- 27:58Speaker 1: they are like standing in front of a large kind
- 28:00Speaker 1: of metal sign. We can't see the sign, we can
- 28:03Speaker 1: just see them and it's like two Alba's in an
- 28:05Speaker 1: eighty six and they look like they're writing something, and
- 28:09Speaker 1: Net continues the other's two. I think. So if you're
- 28:13Speaker 1: using the powerade, I'll have to go with you. She
- 28:15Speaker 1: sits on the bed next to Elena and takes off
- 28:17Speaker 1: her glasses. We're together again, Lena. Lena looks shocked and
- 28:21Speaker 1: then smiles and she's like yeah, and she like lunges
- 28:24Speaker 1: at Annetta hugs her and she's like oh Mannette, and
- 28:28Speaker 1: they both like fall back on the bed, like laughing.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Then we cut to a close up of Lena's eyes
- 28:34Speaker 1: looking at something like super stressed. So not the same scene,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and William says, I'm sorry we're still putting things together.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Elena's like, oh, we see that she's looking at a
- 28:47Speaker 1: roster of I guess her new unit on the tablets,
- 28:50Speaker 1: and most of the names, including the first five, are
- 28:53Speaker 1: just totally blacked out, which seems not helpful at all.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But we can see some familiar names, or at least one.
- 28:59Speaker 1: We see she and Ida, which is Cyclops. She's number six,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and then shana Aya is number seven, rito Aria is
- 29:08Speaker 1: number nine. Recky, I don't know. The last name is
- 29:11Speaker 1: number fifteen, So there, I guess are some people who
- 29:14Speaker 1: survived her last unit that are gonna be on her
- 29:16Speaker 1: new units. But other than that, we don't know anyone
- 29:19Speaker 1: else's names because they're really fucking mean anyway. Lena is like,
- 29:23Speaker 1: but this it is March twelfth, twenty one fifty. We
- 29:28Speaker 1: see that Lena and Willem are sitting on like two
- 29:31Speaker 1: opposing couches, facing each other, and Willem says, it's not
- 29:35Speaker 1: that we don't respect your talents, Colonel Malise. You in
- 29:38Speaker 1: the eighty six survived the Legion offensive. We're glad to
- 29:41Speaker 1: have an officer like you. They both stand. Lena's like,
- 29:45Speaker 1: thank you. I'll do my very best till the end.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Willem says, I'll see you in the federacy, and he
- 29:51Speaker 1: leaves the room. Lena stands there for a second and
- 29:54Speaker 1: then she just like lunges for the tablet and picks
- 29:56Speaker 1: it up, and she sighs totally unenthused, and then turns
- 30:02Speaker 1: and looks at the empty desk in the room, and
- 30:04Speaker 1: I believe it's her uncle's desk. That's the feeling I
- 30:08Speaker 1: was getting there. Then we see her walking down the
- 30:11Speaker 1: street and it looks bad, like we're seeing like the
- 30:14Speaker 1: side of buildings, you know that she's passing, and they
- 30:17Speaker 1: used to have stucco, but a lot of it's fallen off.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And there's some like graffiti that says like Viva Alba,
- 30:22Speaker 1: which is super fucking dumb. And then we see some
- 30:26Speaker 1: like really like rough, not great looking Alba guys, one
- 30:30Speaker 1: of them like drinking a beer kind of standing on
- 30:33Speaker 1: the sidewalk, very much not in good shape. They just
- 30:37Speaker 1: look like they've been through it and maybe they're homeless.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It's not looking good around there, and she thinks of
- 30:43Speaker 1: her uncle saying, I can buy you time if nothing else,
- 30:47Speaker 1: it's time for you to be crushed, Lena. She approaches
- 30:52Speaker 1: that like sign that those people were like drawing on
- 30:55Speaker 1: a couple of minutes ago, maybe, And there's a bunch
- 30:57Speaker 1: of people gathered around it, and we hear Carlstaal say,
- 31:01Speaker 1: as you watch your naive dreams shatter against reality, it
- 31:05Speaker 1: looks like a bunch of people are fixing the sign
- 31:09Speaker 1: thought was ext out that used to say welcome to
- 31:11Speaker 1: San Magnolia earlier. And Lena walks by and she's watching them,
- 31:17Speaker 1: and she kind of stops and gasps. She sees a
- 31:20Speaker 1: really small smiley face with like a person with a
- 31:22Speaker 1: thumbs up on the sign, and she thinks, uncle, just
- 31:26Speaker 1: give me a bit more time until my dream shatters.
- 31:30Speaker 1: She starts to walk off again. And now we can
- 31:32Speaker 1: clearly see that the sign that used to say welcome
- 31:34Speaker 1: to the Republic of San Magnolia's has been kind of
- 31:37Speaker 1: edited so it says will come true the Republic of
- 31:40Speaker 1: San Magnolia. And there are lots of like little happy
- 31:43Speaker 1: drawn faces on it, and some of them black hair,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and like so very much like there are people here
- 31:49Speaker 1: who want it change and they want the promise of
- 31:53Speaker 1: San Magnolia to come true. And I thought that was
- 31:56Speaker 1: really fucking cool anyway, at this point, the opening theme
- 32:00Speaker 1: starts up and we see an automatic door opening with
- 32:05Speaker 1: Lena and Greth standing on the other side, and Lena
- 32:08Speaker 1: has a suitcase. Ernst is in his office with Willem
- 32:12Speaker 1: and John Richards, and Ernest says like, welcome, welcome, We've
- 32:16Speaker 1: been waiting for you, bloody Regina. He walks towards her.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Lena gulps and he continues, Now, let's not waste any time.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Credits are kind of rolling on the screen. Now, Ernest
- 32:28Speaker 1: grabs her suitcase and he starts to roll it out.
- 32:31Speaker 1: As he exits the room, we cut to Lena's mouth.
- 32:35Speaker 1: She has her jaw clenched and she's shaking slightly, and
- 32:39Speaker 1: Ernest says, there's a place I want to show you. Next,
- 32:43Speaker 1: we see Lena holding her glass box of little faces
- 32:48Speaker 1: and she lifts one hand off of it and puts
- 32:51Speaker 1: it on the stone next to Kaye's name on the memorial,
- 32:55Speaker 1: and we see some of the other names, including Eo.
- 32:59Speaker 1: She Sayna, Keino, Kujo, Tosan, yoee Leka, Hannah or Hariya
- 33:06Speaker 1: Sorry I'm not sure what I wrote, Hadu too, and Mary.
- 33:10Speaker 1: She touches Hatuto's name now and we cut quickly too
- 33:15Speaker 1: Spearhead minus shins marks on their juggernauts which are in
- 33:19Speaker 1: this memorial. And I'm not really sure if she sees
- 33:22Speaker 1: that or gets what it means, but she's standing in
- 33:25Speaker 1: front of Fido. I think she gets what it means.
- 33:29Speaker 1: And it's March twentieth, twenty one fifty. She drops to
- 33:33Speaker 1: her knees in front of Shin's toolbox and she is
- 33:38Speaker 1: holding their little faces in her hand, and her hand
- 33:41Speaker 1: is just shaking slightly. She stares at them, and the
- 33:46Speaker 1: glass box is sitting next to Shin's toolbox and it's open,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and she says, I won't forget. I won't forget. I
- 33:56Speaker 1: won't forget. Her eyes start to well with tears, and
- 34:00Speaker 1: she holds their little paper faces to her face. I
- 34:04Speaker 1: won't forget. We can't see her eyes, but she is
- 34:07Speaker 1: clearly starting to cry. Now, I won't forget. It's unclear
- 34:11Speaker 1: here what she does with the little faces, like, because
- 34:15Speaker 1: she leaves the box, so does she leave their faces too.
- 34:19Speaker 1: I couldn't really tell. But she gets up and she
- 34:22Speaker 1: starts to walk out, and we get that same low
- 34:25Speaker 1: angle shot that we had of Shin walking out of
- 34:28Speaker 1: the memorial just a little while earlier, and then we
- 34:31Speaker 1: see the camera rushing through the grass in the dark
- 34:34Speaker 1: past these like Republic soldiers and we hear Lanna say,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I'll fight until I reach the place they reached. It's
- 34:42Speaker 1: passing some eighty six soldiers. Now when the sun is rising.
- 34:46Speaker 1: She continues the place that can be found only those
- 34:48Speaker 1: who kept going to the very end. The sun is
- 34:51Speaker 1: up and the camera finally reaches spearhead which are facing
- 34:55Speaker 1: away and there's red spider lily petals floating in the
- 35:01Speaker 1: and then we kind of zoom through them to the
- 35:03Speaker 1: sky and six whitebirds flying off, and Lena says to
- 35:08Speaker 1: keep fighting. She stops walking and salutes. We go to
- 35:13Speaker 1: an ending theme shot like one of those pictures of
- 35:18Speaker 1: Shin's bench at the spear Hood bowers in Sabia with
- 35:21Speaker 1: like a little light flare and orange just red on it,
- 35:25Speaker 1: and then we hear Lena say, to live life to
- 35:27Speaker 1: the fullest. There's a black screen now and has like
- 35:31Speaker 1: little white brackets on the corners, and in the middle
- 35:34Speaker 1: there is a square with like little squares in it
- 35:36Speaker 1: that are moving like it's loading, and in the bottom
- 35:39Speaker 1: like left side, it says standby mode. We hear a
- 35:42Speaker 1: voice say keep them safe, and there are some like
- 35:46Speaker 1: Fhido beeps, and then the screen says start up and
- 35:50Speaker 1: three twenty twenty one fifty zero five thirty The camera
- 35:54Speaker 1: comes on and we're kind of looking through Fido's perspective
- 35:57Speaker 1: for a while. So we're in four three aspect ratio
- 36:00Speaker 1: and Spearhead has their backs to him, and they're standing
- 36:04Speaker 1: kind of in a line watching the sunrise over a city,
- 36:09Speaker 1: and they all start to walk off, and then Shin
- 36:11Speaker 1: reaches his hand up to the sky, kind of like
- 36:14Speaker 1: over by a contrail, and then we cut to Ryden
- 36:18Speaker 1: looking at Fido. This is still in Fido perspective, and
- 36:22Speaker 1: Righton's fixing his hair and he says, I saw her too.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Actually then I don't remember it well though, I can't
- 36:28Speaker 1: imagine the look on his face. We have a couple
- 36:32Speaker 1: of quick shots of Riding and Shin together, one of
- 36:35Speaker 1: them at the train station when they were arguing, and
- 36:37Speaker 1: like one of them younger, and then we cut to
- 36:40Speaker 1: Onju walking and she says, they say there's a black
- 36:44Speaker 1: cat with her. Fido beeps on you continues, if only
- 36:48Speaker 1: it were kiddy, right. We get a couple of quick
- 36:50Speaker 1: shots again, one of Daya and Onju and some of
- 36:53Speaker 1: the others holding up TEPPI to I guess Fido's eye screen,
- 36:58Speaker 1: and then one of tep be like meowing with his
- 37:01Speaker 1: paws on a box, and then one of Aju's sitting
- 37:04Speaker 1: out back crying after Diyah's death. Yay, and are says.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Right next, we see THEO kneeling and showing the strawing
- 37:13Speaker 1: that he did of Lena as a pig, you know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: because that's how he draws her. And she's of course
- 37:18Speaker 1: in uniform, and she's a speech trouble that says follow me,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and THEO says this, fidn't make some beeps that sound
- 37:26Speaker 1: like a no, but I'm not sure. THEO flips to
- 37:29Speaker 1: the next page, and now he is a picture of
- 37:31Speaker 1: Lena and she is in uniform but a person now,
- 37:35Speaker 1: and she's riding a giant pig and Shin is running
- 37:38Speaker 1: next to her and she's saying, let's go, and THEO says,
- 37:43Speaker 1: what about this? Fido makes some more beeps, but I
- 37:46Speaker 1: don't really know what these beeps mean, and THEO smiles
- 37:49Speaker 1: deviously and he flips over the paper one more time
- 37:52Speaker 1: and he's like, this is her and it's Lena like
- 37:57Speaker 1: caressing Shin's hair and chin and kind of looking down
- 38:01Speaker 1: at him as Shin's nose is bleeding, and she's saying,
- 38:06Speaker 1: come on with little hearts, and they're both blushing and
- 38:09Speaker 1: it is the most awesome drawing and I'm sure you've
- 38:12Speaker 1: seen it and you were happy with it too, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: if you haven't, you should probably look it up because
- 38:17Speaker 1: it's great. And Fido beeps like super rapidly, like what
- 38:21Speaker 1: the fuck, dude? Or maybe yeah, I'm not really sure,
- 38:25Speaker 1: and we cut to a couple of really sad looking
- 38:27Speaker 1: THEO shots, and THEO in present time chuckles wildly proud
- 38:32Speaker 1: of himself, and then we see THEO running away from Karna,
- 38:36Speaker 1: laughing as Karna is holding his sketchbook and saying, cut
- 38:40Speaker 1: it out, THEO, cut it out. She like throws the
- 38:43Speaker 1: sketchbook at him, and then we cut to another shot
- 38:46Speaker 1: of her blushing and trying to fix her hair, and
- 38:49Speaker 1: she's like, that won't happen with Shin. The two of
- 38:52Speaker 1: them aren't like that. And I've known him longer, so
- 38:55Speaker 1: she's even more of a little sister than me. We
- 38:58Speaker 1: see a couple of shots of Karna and then Corna's
- 39:01Speaker 1: like Victory's mine. Now we see Ernest T's kneeling down,
- 39:05Speaker 1: looking off to the side, making like a square with
- 39:08Speaker 1: his hands, like the frame of shots, and he says
- 39:11Speaker 1: the perfect boy meets girl. Then we see Willem, Greth
- 39:16Speaker 1: and General Richards all looking at Fido, and Willim says,
- 39:21Speaker 1: beep beep. Fido nods and beeps, and Willem continues beep beep,
- 39:27Speaker 1: Fido beeps, and William says, beep, and I guess that's
- 39:31Speaker 1: nice that they can communicate. Next, we see Frederica running
- 39:36Speaker 1: forward away from Fido and she's like, I'll surprise him too.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Fido like grabs her and she squeals, and then we
- 39:44Speaker 1: cut to Spearhead walking away from Fido, and THEO says,
- 39:49Speaker 1: what was it, bloody, Regina yuck? Fido beeps and Shin
- 39:53Speaker 1: turns back and Shin says, is that how it looks
- 39:57Speaker 1: to you? Fido beeps, Shin kind of exhales and smiles.
- 40:01Speaker 1: In the background, the rest of Spearhead's still moving off
- 40:04Speaker 1: and they're talking about like it's she gonna recognize them
- 40:06Speaker 1: and stuff, and then we cut to a couple of
- 40:08Speaker 1: quick clips of Shin as a child, which is really
- 40:11Speaker 1: confusing because Fido shouldn't have been there when he was
- 40:14Speaker 1: like a year old, and then him running forward as
- 40:17Speaker 1: a kid, which transitions to him running to catch up
- 40:20Speaker 1: with the rest of Spearhead. Now, then we see a
- 40:23Speaker 1: really wide shot of Spearhead standing in the field near
- 40:27Speaker 1: that memorial that's kind of where they are, and Lena
- 40:30Speaker 1: and Ernst are kind of walking over and Lena says,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm late, mister president, and Ernst is like,
- 40:36Speaker 1: no time spent remembering someone lost is time well spent. Now,
- 40:40Speaker 1: let me introduce you to your new team. Lena's like,
- 40:43Speaker 1: what right now? And I realized that the people who
- 40:47Speaker 1: are kind of close that we're seeing in the wide
- 40:49Speaker 1: shot are just some random officers. I think they're like
- 40:51Speaker 1: greath and you know, Wilhelm and stuff. And Spearhead is
- 40:55Speaker 1: actually like way away across the field. So Fido pans
- 40:58Speaker 1: to them, which is why she is like immediately say oh,
- 41:01Speaker 1: there they are, and we hear right and say, hey,
- 41:04Speaker 1: is that really hurt? Shin steps forward and he's like,
- 41:07Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot's happened, right, and says he got
- 41:10Speaker 1: that right. We get a quick upside down shot of
- 41:14Speaker 1: Lena approaching Shin's Reagan leaf in the field of red
- 41:17Speaker 1: spider lilies from last episode, and then back to Lena
- 41:21Speaker 1: approaching now and she and Shin salutes and the sun
- 41:26Speaker 1: breaks through the clouds, and then we see Fido's eye
- 41:30Speaker 1: focusing in and we are out of his vision and
- 41:33Speaker 1: back to just the normal aspect ratio, and all the
- 41:37Speaker 1: Spearhead is saluting, and Lena says, I am Colonel lad
- 41:41Speaker 1: Alina Malise of the San Magnolian Republic. It's an honor
- 41:44Speaker 1: to meet you for the first time. Shin is quiet
- 41:47Speaker 1: for a moment, and the rest of Spearhead is behind
- 41:50Speaker 1: him trying to stifle their giggles, and Shin finally says,
- 41:55Speaker 1: this isn't the first time we've met, it's the first
- 41:58Speaker 1: time we've seen each other. Though. Lena partially drops her
- 42:02Speaker 1: salute hand in confusion, and Chin says it's been a
- 42:06Speaker 1: long time handler one. Lena is super fucking confused, and
- 42:10Speaker 1: she further drops her hand, and Chin continues, I'm a
- 42:14Speaker 1: captain in the GIAD Fetter Sea and the former combat
- 42:17Speaker 1: commander of Spearhead Squadron. Shin a Nosen. Lena looks like
- 42:23Speaker 1: she's seen a ghost, but in a nice way, and
- 42:26Speaker 1: also like she's about to cry and everyone else looks
- 42:30Speaker 1: so happy, And we get a close up on her
- 42:33Speaker 1: eyes and they're just welding with tears, and we see
- 42:37Speaker 1: that in her hands, she's still holding their little faces
- 42:40Speaker 1: because she didn't give up hope. But she loosens her
- 42:43Speaker 1: grip on them and she says, Shin, she lets go
- 42:48Speaker 1: of them, and they get caught in the breeze along
- 42:50Speaker 1: with some of her tears, and we see now the
- 42:53Speaker 1: tears are just streaming down her face and she eventually
- 42:57Speaker 1: figures out how to smile, and Shin also smiles, probably
- 43:01Speaker 1: the most honestly happy smile we've seen him make, and
- 43:06Speaker 1: he's also blushing slightly. At this point, Teppi pops out
- 43:10Speaker 1: of Lena's bag and meows, and Fido beeps, and Teppi
- 43:14Speaker 1: runs over and Fido like runs over at them and
- 43:17Speaker 1: like jumps, like startling. Lena like almost hits into them
- 43:20Speaker 1: and like blows off her hat and Shin puts up
- 43:23Speaker 1: his arm in front of her to protect her, and
- 43:25Speaker 1: Rydan's like, you really are a fool. We're kind of
- 43:29Speaker 1: rotating the camera around in a circle now so we
- 43:31Speaker 1: can focus on whoever's talking Lena, and then people in
- 43:33Speaker 1: spearhead basically it's pretty cool, and Lena says, Rydan THEO
- 43:39Speaker 1: has caught the little faces and he's like, is this us?
- 43:43Speaker 1: And Lena says theo Andju says thank you for the cat,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and Lena's like, on you, and Karina says, I'm glad
- 43:53Speaker 1: you're alive, and Lena's like Karna. Fredrika, who is still
- 43:58Speaker 1: being held by Fido's arm, says how about we get
- 44:00Speaker 1: a photo to remember today? And they're all like, yeah, okay,
- 44:04Speaker 1: and the camera flashes and goes to whites and then
- 44:07Speaker 1: we cuts to it rushing down the train tracks, kind
- 44:11Speaker 1: of like the beginning of the first episode, except the
- 44:13Speaker 1: sky is blue and they're all there standing at the
- 44:16Speaker 1: end of it, and Lena says, I followed you for
- 44:19Speaker 1: so long, and Shin's like, I know. They are all
- 44:23Speaker 1: holding their individual little pictures now looking at him, and
- 44:27Speaker 1: Lena continues, I finally caught up, and Jin's like yeah.
- 44:32Speaker 1: They all kind of look up, kind of off in
- 44:34Speaker 1: the distance, and Lena says, from now on. She looks
- 44:38Speaker 1: over at Shin, who's standing next to her. He looks
- 44:41Speaker 1: over at her too, I'll fight with you. Shin nods,
- 44:45Speaker 1: and they both look back at the horizon again. We
- 44:49Speaker 1: cut to their shadows and we see that Shin and
- 44:52Speaker 1: Lena's hands are starting to move closer to each other
- 44:55Speaker 1: and they're positioning kind of looks like an eight and
- 44:58Speaker 1: a six when they closer and closer, And then we
- 45:02Speaker 1: cut to the show title card and the eight and
- 45:04Speaker 1: the six make it all the way to each other,
- 45:07Speaker 1: and then we see the picture that they just took
- 45:09Speaker 1: and written on it is I won't forget, but the
- 45:13Speaker 1: ice crossed out and says we so we won't forget.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And that's the end of season one. Yeah, so, uh,
- 45:21Speaker 1: closing thoughts on eighty six, Yeah, that was a really
- 45:25Speaker 1: great last episode. In my opinion, I cried for a
- 45:28Speaker 1: lot of it. Kind of mean to make Lena go
- 45:32Speaker 1: through all that to find that out, you know, but
- 45:36Speaker 1: fun for them, and I'm just super fucking happy that
- 45:39Speaker 1: they can be together. But it was really sad there
- 45:42Speaker 1: for a moment when she, like I thought that she
- 45:44Speaker 1: really believed that they died when she saw that memorial,
- 45:47Speaker 1: because come on, who else would have made it all
- 45:49Speaker 1: the way out there. But I just loved that she
- 45:54Speaker 1: just wasn't ready to give up, and that she still
- 45:58Speaker 1: had their little picture in her hands. To me, that's
- 46:04Speaker 1: just it's the amount of faith that she had in them.
- 46:08Speaker 1: And you know, it's hard to give up on someone
- 46:11Speaker 1: that you love, and it's hard to admit that they're dead.
- 46:14Speaker 1: But I'm glad she didn't have to. I'm glad that
- 46:18Speaker 1: the people who really inspired her and saved her she
- 46:22Speaker 1: was able to save as well. They have been mutually
- 46:26Speaker 1: beneficial to each other and they'll make a great team
- 46:30Speaker 1: going forward. And I'm definitely gonna read the rest of
- 46:33Speaker 1: the light novels now. I don't know. I just thought
- 46:38Speaker 1: that was really good, and I think it's interesting that
- 46:41Speaker 1: Shin is like, I don't have anything to live for,
- 46:44Speaker 1: but he does. He wants to see this war end.
- 46:48Speaker 1: He wants to take his comrades as far as he
- 46:52Speaker 1: can go, and he wants to save them, you know,
- 46:55Speaker 1: because some of them are still their brains are still
- 46:58Speaker 1: in legion bodies and stuff. So that's one of those
- 47:02Speaker 1: things where it's like you have the goal, maybe you
- 47:05Speaker 1: think you're supposed to have a more lofty goal, or
- 47:08Speaker 1: maybe you're supposed to have a more normal goal, like
- 47:11Speaker 1: seeing the ocean, but that's not Whatever you have is
- 47:14Speaker 1: good enough, you know. And I don't know, And I'm
- 47:17Speaker 1: glad that they can Snon Lena, can you know, be
- 47:21Speaker 1: inspired by each other to continue. I think that's probably
- 47:24Speaker 1: like the coolest thing, that they both are inspired by
- 47:28Speaker 1: each other. I don't know. I think they're a good couple.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And yeah, this really got me emotionally, that is. Yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 1: So there had been some rumors going around that there
- 47:41Speaker 1: was gonna be a season two, that there were some
- 47:43Speaker 1: people talking about stuff and setting things up. But it's
- 47:46Speaker 1: been a little while since I heard that. I don't
- 47:48Speaker 1: actually believe it's gonna happen, but who knows. Right, it
- 47:52Speaker 1: would be cool as long as they can end season
- 47:54Speaker 1: two on a satisfying note like this, because in my opinion,
- 47:59Speaker 1: well for the moment, most parts. Often I don't like
- 48:02Speaker 1: the way seasons or series end. They just they don't
- 48:06Speaker 1: end well, or they they're not final enough, or they're
- 48:10Speaker 1: stupid and they don't wrap things up in the right way.
- 48:14Speaker 1: I don't know. This is like, in my opinion, one
- 48:16Speaker 1: of the best ends of a season I've ever seen.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I just think it's perfect. I want more, but I'm
- 48:24Speaker 1: happy with the way that it ended, and I only
- 48:28Speaker 1: want more if it's gonna be as good as those.
- 48:30Speaker 1: If not, you can you can keep it. It's fine.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So that's two in a row of shows that we've
- 48:36Speaker 1: watched that I've been exceedingly happy with the way that
- 48:39Speaker 1: they ended. Yeah, this is definitely in my top anime. Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I don't know. There's not much I really need to
- 48:47Speaker 1: say about it. A lot of it's spelled itself out
- 48:51Speaker 1: or we've talked about in the past. But I just
- 48:55Speaker 1: like that Shin's not alone and neither is Lena, and
- 48:59Speaker 1: I think they're gonna fucking save the world because they're
- 49:02Speaker 1: really tough. Yeah, that's what I think. But that's really it.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I don't have much else to say about it, and
- 49:11Speaker 1: I feel a little bad, but there's only so much
- 49:14Speaker 1: I can do. And I think the Republic's gonna be okay.
- 49:18Speaker 1: You know, I think, like any country that's really shitty,
- 49:21Speaker 1: not everyone in the country is bad, and Carl Staal
- 49:25Speaker 1: is wrong. You know. It was never the will of
- 49:28Speaker 1: the people. It was the will of the government that
- 49:30Speaker 1: convinced some of the people and or I'm sure some
- 49:34Speaker 1: of the people were just shitty to begin with, but
- 49:37Speaker 1: most people are good. Well, I'm gonna maintain that and
- 49:41Speaker 1: they're gonna be okay. But people like that general person
- 49:47Speaker 1: that's Lena's boss, I don't think he should be allowed
- 49:49Speaker 1: to be in power. It's kind of a disaster. But yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 1: I don't know. The Federacy's pretty nice forticiding that they
- 49:58Speaker 1: wanted to save them despite the horrible atrocities they've committed.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I don't know. That's my take on things. I guess
- 50:07Speaker 1: be nice to people. Racism is bad, things like that,
- 50:12Speaker 1: you know, normal stuff. So yeah, be nice to people.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you anyway, That's just
- 50:19Speaker 1: that's eighty six for you. I really enjoyed it. So
- 50:26Speaker 1: what am I doing next? I don't know. I really
- 50:30Speaker 1: really really don't know. I'm gonna take a couple of
- 50:33Speaker 1: months off to get myself better because I still feel
- 50:36Speaker 1: really terrible all the time, and maybe things are gonna
- 50:39Speaker 1: be okay or maybe they're not, and start back up
- 50:43Speaker 1: with a new show in the middle of October. I'm
- 50:46Speaker 1: thinking right now, October sixteenth, either that or the following week.
- 50:50Speaker 1: It'll kind of coincide with the beginning of the Fall
- 50:54Speaker 1: anime season. As of right now, my best guess is
- 50:59Speaker 1: that I'm gonna do Heidoro. It's twelve or thirteen episodes,
- 51:03Speaker 1: I can't really remember, and it's just fucking insane, and
- 51:07Speaker 1: it'd probably be really fun to do, and it's a
- 51:10Speaker 1: great manga if you want to get into it, so
- 51:13Speaker 1: I'll probably do that. I'm also considering doing Lane. I
- 51:16Speaker 1: still really want to, but last time I checked, I
- 51:18Speaker 1: couldn't find a legal way to stream it, which I
- 51:22Speaker 1: feel like is a problem. I don't want you to
- 51:24Speaker 1: have trouble finding something, so I probably won't do that
- 51:28Speaker 1: unless something changes. And I'm also considering ger and Lagan
- 51:31Speaker 1: because that would be really fucking cool. So if out
- 51:35Speaker 1: of those three, you have any ones that you really
- 51:38Speaker 1: really want me to do, please let me know. Like
- 51:42Speaker 1: I just want you to be happy, and I'd be
- 51:44Speaker 1: happy doing any of them, so please let me know.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Or if you have another suggestion, you can tell me
- 51:51Speaker 1: and I might consider it or not, or I might
- 51:54Speaker 1: end up having to do it because I feel like
- 51:55Speaker 1: if I don't, then you won't be happy. I don't know,
- 51:58Speaker 1: but really, my fucking email address is in these show notes,
- 52:03Speaker 1: so feel free to reach out to me, and you
- 52:05Speaker 1: could also tell me how you felt about eighty six. Yeah,
- 52:08Speaker 1: you could talk to me. I talk back usually anyway.
- 52:13Speaker 1: That's it. That was eighty six. I hope you enjoyed it,
- 52:17Speaker 1: and if you didn't, it's over and you never have
- 52:20Speaker 1: to watch it or hear me talk about it again.
- 52:23Speaker 1: One more thing. It is August twelfth in my world.
- 52:27Speaker 1: In your world it is not August twelfth anymore. But
- 52:30Speaker 1: when I am recording it, it is the twelfth of August,
- 52:32Speaker 1: which is Ashlink's birthday. Happy birthday, ashlnks.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I hate myself so much, but now you know anyway,
- 52:41Speaker 2: I hope you have a really good whatever, and I'm
- 52:43Speaker 2: gonna go celebrate the rest of Ashlink's birthday the only
- 52:46Speaker 2: way I know how, which is just.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Being sad about things or something, or maybe I'll draw,
- 52:51Speaker 1: who knows. I will see you in a couple of months,
- 52:54Speaker 1: So be good to yourselves or whatever you do that
- 52:59Speaker 1: is not bad. Yeah later, webs
