- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: We know you have takes, we have takes.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm back to surprise that you're a rant line, rape line, whatever, is this completely full.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_02]: What can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Michael Caspio for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_02]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: Scratch, claw, up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can't explain it while I'm feeling right now, guys.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: or you can't believe USP is undefeated in the ACT.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: What the record.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh no!
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: We got you welcome back to Renif Troy, Radio Episode 664.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: Come with you on Tuesday, October 13th.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: We are going to talk about the Trojans.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: Basically at the halfway point, midway through the season.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: With the special guests, Chris Trimini from on three now, Chris, welcome to the show.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_03]: It is quite literally an honor to be here and I just want to say off the top.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: organization of this pod is top notch and the the show docket is just beautiful as someone who you know has their own show docket for the multiple podcasts this makes mine look absolute garbage and this is just a work of art.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_03]: I will might be I actually might steal this go for it on us, but it is quite beautiful as someone who loves organization, but.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: That's not what we're here to talk about.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: We're not here to talk about podcasts.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: We're here to talk about USC.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm glad to be back on this show.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_03]: I do have a bone to pick with you because you know how long it's been since I've been on this show.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's been two years.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's been three years.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: Three?
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's been three years.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: How dare you?
- 2:02[SPEAKER_03]: How dare you not know how long?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_03]: You should know the exact days in minutes.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_03]: I should.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, fatal flaw over here.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_03]: it doesn't feel like three years to be honest.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_03]: I was on to talk about a hypothetical building that had not been built yet and now we're here to talk about building that has been built yet.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: We'll not talk about it, but you know what I mean.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's here.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's been a minute.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we were we were going to have you on in the summer before the season and then we got sidetracked with the million, a million things have been going on.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: So or at least he's on her little health break, if you will, so he's on a sign mint, as they say in the biz and so we've got a million things going on, but you're here, and this is this is great.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for the comments about the rundown doc.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's years of.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: OCD and color coordinating things and some of that brother your business and give me some of that.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Let's let's let's just discuss where SC is right now where what was your takeaway from SC going into state college how much of a pain the ass was it for you to get there?
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, how worth how worth it was was it going to cover an SC win?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: I handle the first question.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: I had a direct flight to Harrisburg from LA, which was nice choice.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of USC fans on that flight.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: It actually wasn't completely booked that entire road to myself on America.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: It was quite lovely.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, okay, this is good vibes all around.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I stayed at a town.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: in between Harrisburg and state college and it's like our 50 power 45 from Harrisburg to state college.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm literally kind of a straight shot and it's a little town called like Mifflin town.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even know it's like a real town or whatever, but I stayed at like some of the thunder mifflin.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it wasn't down there, Mifflin, but I think the, I think it's like, Mifflin County, so like a little Miffler, Miffler kind of towns and so Mifflin town, which does sound like something out of the office.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_03]: So I thought that was a good sign because I love the office, one of my favorite shows all time, but I just stayed at like some random like econologic and
- 4:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, on the murder, like I'm going to get murder here, scale, it wasn't that bad.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_03]: It was like a five out of 10, 10 being like I'm definitely dying here tonight, yeah.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: And it was well lit and it was right next to a gas station that had an eye hop in it, which I've never seen before.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_03]: Gas station eye-op.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen that before.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: So you can pump your gas while you're getting your Rudy 2D fresh and fruity.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, I almost said Grandslam and I'm like, no, you know, it took me a second to it.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: We're on the same length.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, and then it was like a 45 minute drive to stay college.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: It was so beautiful.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: It was scenic.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: It says you, the road bunch of dead raccoons and just like the fall foliage like turning and that's all it is.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's like quite lovely.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: And then you're just there in this town and all these people.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and in white, just walking towards Beaver Stadium, the middle of this, at middle of nowhere.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: So it was, it was quite cool.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: And it actually wasn't that bad to get to, to be honest, Notre Dame felt like more of a pain in the butt.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: What's this thing that you see there?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: So I feel like there's tougher road trips.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: Um, this one's just so far.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_03]: If you do it right, because I don't know, some people were going to Pittsburgh.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_03]: The team went to Pittsburgh.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: They flew to Pittsburgh and then Alcuna, I think, and then they travel.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_03]: there but like there are fans that drove in the day of from Pittsburgh and then like leaving state college and then I don't know if you saw the videos of like how difficult it was to get out like I can only imagine there's only a couple of ways in and out yeah yeah and with the rain going on it was probably miserable miserable for them but to bring back to your second question it was worth it it was very worth it it was very worth it for them you know it made all the travel and the pain of the butt of getting there and the pain of the butt of leaving
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: When you win like that on the road and in a big game in a big environment, you know, like a white out, you know, which is an iconic part of college football, man, you don't even care.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: You have to drive two hours.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: You're just like still buzzing off the win, you know?
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, Lincoln was he was still walking around the field at the end, wanting to literally soak it all up there in the rain.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I always feel that about a road trip like I've been in Notre Dame twice, both of them S.C. lost and there is that feeling of like I made it all the way over here for this.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and so going to Penn State, I think, absolutely, um, that would play a role in, like, you know, feeling, feeling worth it and everything, but the way I see looked in that game, I, I said on, on our pod that.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the way S.E.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: played, particularly in the second half, like, that team beats Oregon.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that team, like, is competitive against Ohio State and Indiana.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: They probably still don't beat them, but, like, they're at least competitive.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: And that is the team that I think that we all expected, or hope this team would be.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: It took a while to get here in game seven, and then the most hostile place to play all season.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of things to like in that game, right?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, absolutely.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think you saw, you know, looking at these reference many times over last couple of weeks, which is John, like, I rolls, like, we have a, quote, pretty damn good football team in that locker room.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, okay, Lincoln.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: But where were they against Oregon?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: Like the game you need to deploy?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but then they bring it out against Penn State and you're like, okay, maybe he's right.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: Now again, Penn State.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_03]: Not a good team.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: Not a good team, but still that team was more than good enough to beat a USC road team.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it's more than good enough and USC didn't let him do it.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they stayed in control for the majority of that game.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_03]: Their defense made the plays.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: They're offense.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_03]: Jay to my have a plate is probably his best game in a USC uniform.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_03]: And on the road where he has struggled.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: So everything kind of came into focus and in a line for them.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 8:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know we'll probably talk about, you know, which is the real USC, I see that on the docket, but you know, that was a pretty damn good performance, all things considered and to do so in a wide out game and the most hostile environment, imaginable like you couldn't ask for a better performance.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think for me that's the thing of like that was a game that S.C. has lost many a time in the last several years, right?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Rutgers game was a game they almost throw away.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: The Penn State game was absolutely a game.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Maryland game a couple years ago and I know you'll probably enjoy that one.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: That was a game SC inexplicably loses, like they've been in places, there you go, go Terps.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: We're terrible.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_03]: We're terrible.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's okay.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry to back here.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: They've been in positions to win games that they haven't landed the plane.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: And so is that is beating that Penn State team a high bar to say that SC is back?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: No, and it sounds ridiculous, but it's
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's, this was a game that S.C. two years ago loses, it's a game that S.C. a year ago might have lost, it's a game that S.C. a week ago might have lost.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: So, I think it's a big big step forward, but to go to the thing that you talked about, like, what is the true S.C. Like, is it the team that just won in state college on the road?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: two times owns away with Jade my ava looking like the best he'd ever been or was it the team that struggled to put records away and needed a strip sack against Washington to win that game and competed with Oregon for three quarters but then still inexplicably lost by 14 points.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: We're seven games into the season.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: And you hope that it's the team that was in the second half against Penn State.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: But what is the real essay?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and what will it take to know what it is?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: I, I,
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: I hate this question.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: I love this question.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: I hate this question because this is a hard question.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was a question because it's a good question.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: And as of right now, it's an unknowable question.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we don't really know until we see more games and like, what are they going to do after this by week?
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it was a complete effort.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: And we haven't seen a lot of those Angelink and Riley, like you can count on one hand kind of the complete games that U.S.E.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_03]: teams put together under Lincoln, especially under these last, you know, the non Caleb years, if you will, right, or the non 2022 season, excuse me.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Michigan is the one that kind of stands out is like, yeah, that was like, like, bottle that turn that into, you know, week after week after week and then to do it on the road like that like just pleasantly surprised and full disclosure like I picked.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: Penn State win this game.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so in an end.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I'm taking a go for it, but that's fine.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I can only make a pick based on what I've seen and what you saw the last couple of weeks was not really good football and we know how they play on the road.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_03]: So it only made logical sense for me for to pick against USC going literally to the farthest place.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: on their schedule to go into the middle of nowhere in one of the most hostile environments imaginable.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: And again, USC has lost.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_03]: in some very not intimidating environments.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm looking at you in that Maryland game.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, they're more talented this team, but that's probably what's more frustrating is like, you could have been Norgan.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yeah, you're right.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: This team could have been Norgan.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's probably somewhere in the middle between those two teams.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_03]: Even though some of these struggles you're seeing that you saw in the Oregon and the Rogers game came down to their defense, just being absolutely terrible and being not on the same page and communication,
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh
- 12:52[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if the, that Penn State performance is the true team, if you do it again against Wisconsin, if you put a complete game and back to back efforts, then I'll be willing to say, okay, I think actually that is the complete, or the true U.S.C.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_03]: team, because I don't think we've seen Lincoln Riley have two games where they put it back to back like that.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: So let's see it happen.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I even going back to 2022.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: I struggle to think of of that because like at the Notre Dame game at the end of the season, it was probably their most complete game, but like the week before
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: There was no defense in that UCLA game that was like 99 to 97 or whatever the score was, right?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, I think that you need to see what happens against Wisconsin and that will tell us a lot.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: And again, is Wisconsin or Ohio State?
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: But there, I think everyone regards them as a good team this year.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: They're ranked number 26 and the AP poll.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: If you look at others receiving votes for a reason, they're better than Penn State.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of metrics and it's tough place.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, jump around.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: And they're better than Penn State.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_03]: We know that.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: They be Penn State.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a step probably a better quarterback in Colton Joseph.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think that.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: If, if nothing else doing the same thing to Wisconsin would prove that the Penn State game was not a fluke and would just prove that like, okay, they've done it twice in a row.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Now go compete against Ohio State and take your, your, your punchers chance against Ohio State at home, whatever happens happens, but at least you go into that game on the
- 14:41[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, absolutely.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's what I was saying, like, just get to 71, just get to get to 71 with all the state on Halloween, they come to you and it was off a buy, but just let the chips fall where they may.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: You would have a ton of confidence, you'd have a ton of momentum, you'd be a much healthier, you know, come on off this part, they're own by week, so it's like, just get to 71 and then let's just see what happens.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I want to see happen.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: a thousand percent thousand percent.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the questions we had on the thing here was like how would you grade the first half?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that there is a way to grade this because every grade sounds wrong to me because of the inconsistency because
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: If you say that oh well it's a it's a B plus because the record is probably what you would have predicted at the beginning of the season or at least close to it then I think that that doesn't account for the struggles.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: But also if you say that they're a sea because they struggled to put away Rutgers and don't think that that accounts for slain the road beast in this last game.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't know that there's a true way to grade it.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like what where do you look at it in terms of like grading the question that I hate and love for the exact same reason you put me through the grinder here.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: I agree with everything you just said.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's like really hard to come up with a grade like you could talk me into.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_03]: A.C. easily you're not talking me into an A obviously we know it's on an A but there are a couple options.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'd probably settle at the most middleing grade which would be a B minus Sure me because Obviously I think we're we're going off you know recency bias with this Penn State game so it's like you're bumping them up to that B like you're getting to that B But also mine is because you didn't beat Oregon like that was your shot you know you had you had the opportunity you had that game you had that game
- 16:38[SPEAKER_03]: for the most part, you could have easily won that game and then destroy against Rutgers and then, you know, how you almost choked it away to like a bad Washington team at home.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's like,
- 16:49[SPEAKER_03]: like I don't even want to know what the discussions would have been, you know, if they lost that game.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: They were very fine line between winning and losing that game.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's got to be a minus.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm willing to give them the beat just because, you know, they they prove something and they get to go into the by week, a well-time by week with a lot of momentum and an impressive performance on the road and happy valley.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm giving you my answer as a
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's fair.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's fair.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a little recent sea bias, but I don't think it's a bad thing given that like I think that where they performed at Penn State, I think like.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think it means more than the Rutgers game in a lot of ways because it was so unexpected how in control and how clean and all those things that they played was.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: But again, we got to see that going forward.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: Looking back at some like superlatives of the first half of the season, first half MVP.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: I, I think this is difficult.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if there's one guy, do where, where are you on this?
- 17:59[SPEAKER_03]: Is this like a nonjaded my other question, or maybe me, yeah, because it's like I just want to easily just pick jaded my other it's but that's Yeah, yeah, you know, honestly, I'm leaning towards like Trent Mosley, yeah, is
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy to pick someone who's been three games of the season, but he's just so damn good, you know?
- 18:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know if they win this game without him, like I really don't.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: And his performance.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm kind of leaning towards Trent Mosley.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_03]: You could also talk me into like, to keep steward.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: You're also talking to the team to do it for all the same reasons, right?
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like the he misses three games for games.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: He misses four games, right?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then, but the last three games, I thought he was, he looked like he never missed any time at all.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: The same thing with, with Trent mostly looked like I was thinking, you know, his season might be
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: uh, endowed in the sense of like, hill come back.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: He'll have to be slowly worked in, uh, maybe after the by week, he'll be like finally back up to like 50% red.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like I might expectations for where mostly was after his injury were extremely low and he made it look like he didn't miss any time at all.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: and was the best player on the field, along with with with my Ava and then you add in the fact that he's a freshman and that's crazy.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think that like my first half MVP is that I mean, this is a cop out.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just the freshman collectively because one game it's been
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: who look way full as had his flashes and moments.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: Trond Baker has had his moments.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: Booby Feaster has popped up now and then like,
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: It is refreshing that we talk about how the roster didn't really get the big shot in the arm in the transfer portal, but I think a lot of people wanted, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think the freshman helped that with Luke Wafel and Jim Stewart is the age of a freshman.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's not really a freshman, but young guy that can help there.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: And then you got all the receivers making up for
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: a bullet-knock off winner in Mackay Lemon and Jacoby Lane who everyone with the Ravens is like raved about.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: So it's unexpected how strong the Mark Bowman, like how's just strong they've been.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, that's a, that's a great pick.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, it is a cop out, but we love cop outs.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_03]: I wish I was smart enough to say that.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: Let's not forget, Vlad, I caught it off who I'm saying that last name wrong, but it's okay.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_03]: No really knows how to say it.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's okay.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_03]: I just stepped in for Elijah Page as a true freshman on the road in the, in the Beaver Stadium and playing well, you know, to, to, to, to huge performance by him.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: So another, a point for your, for your freshman MVP,
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: take there.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I mean, the the impact that these guys have had all over the roster is like yeah, the 2020s is class and the money that they spent has been well worth it for what they've gotten out of that group.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: So far in the first half of the season and they're only going to get better in the second half of the season.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think that you want to talk about like instant impacts.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's Chad Boatne like majorly.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: He comes in last year from Notre Dame and immediately number one of her in class and not just the number one of her in class, but like guys who are making huge impacts immediately.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: Especially when like I remember a signing day that discussion, organ fans were like, oh, but we have higher quality and you just have quantity and it was like one of those things and
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't matter because I see needed the quantity to even if that was the number one based on quantity clearly it wasn't just quantity because the quality is right there like Trent mostly might be the best freshman in the country like I don't know maybe Jesse LaGree it Oregon state has something to say about that, but you're doing guy is he from Baltimore, yeah, oh, there you go, he is someone who'll be making a lot of money in about three months.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: probably just going up the road to Oregon.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: I feel, but we'll see.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, more first half talk here.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have a play of the first half?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because I was talking to release here earlier today.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know that there's one, I think that it's a good sort of discussion to have because there's multiple that you can just sort of throw out there and then she brought up the point,
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: highlight real play in terms of like difficulty and awe or whatever or you talking about impact because those are two different answers.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: So like however you want to take this go for it.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to smash them together because when you say that and I look at it on the the docket here, this beautiful docket again, I think you came Stewart, Scoop and Scor, touched down like that's the one for me and maybe is because it was right in my face coming to me, but like you think about that game where it's like,
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: they could lose this game like they could lose this game and then just to have that play happen and kind of you know a game where the defense is like finding it's footing and it's finding it's swagger and it feels and looks different than it has against Oregon and Rutgers it just felt like they were having a moment and then obviously to get that play you know newbie strips it bang
- 23:48[SPEAKER_03]: You keep steward with not be denied getting to that end zone and just like change the whole outlook of that game so for me I think it's it's it's that play what happens if he doesn't score or that it doesn't happen in general Like do they lose that game?
- 24:02[SPEAKER_03]: That's entirely possible.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I think just the impact of that and obviously just the the highlight of it of a big man scoop and score you got to love it
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think Prophet Brown's interception return is obviously up there kind of another game-changing defensive score in a game where they were really struggling, uh, at Rutgers, uh, J. to Maavas, you know, throw, uh, to Tenakines on third down against Penn State.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's up there.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_03]: Um, the punch out for Christian peers, we're going, you know, recently bias, uh, to seal that game, but I think for me, it's it's Thanos running it back against Washington.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: The thing I loved about that play was Luke Wafel immediately turning into a blocker.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: And like there's like two or three blocks that he just tries to take on and I love that.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a great pick especially because in terms of most important, that is absolutely up there along with the profit brown picksix because
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: without those.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe I see loses both of those games.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but they win those games, because of those, um, I'm going to go with the Trent mostly punt return.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly because
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: selfishly, I like that he has had over a hundred all purpose yards every week.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: So the one game in which he doesn't have a hundred receiving yards, he has to put return anyways.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: So he still gets there and I loved, I love to see that.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: I love a potent good pot return and just I love the way he runs.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's a so smooth, but like still will drop a
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: Which you don't expect for someone in size?
- 25:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm running back, ask a man.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, he runs like a running back with the smoothness of a receiver.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: it's it's I keep saying he looks like he looks like Steve Smith but he plays like Mike Williams which makes no sense but like he sort of does and it's like Reggie and Lendale combined together which which is wild.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah I think I think any of those plays absolutely can work the hope for SC though is that they haven't had the best play yet and you hope that you save that for rest of the season.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of big games
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: S.P.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: Plus or F.E.I.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: or Jeff Sagren or any of those rankings, all of S.E.s best opponents save for the Oregon game are still on the rocket, so you've got to make sure you have big plays going forward.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: One thing that I wonder your opinion on is Lincoln Riley right now, I think two weeks ago,
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: dire.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think there were there were a lot of people who were completely off the the ship.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know Josh Pates that he was selling all of his his Lincoln Riley stock.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think everybody in our chat was selling all their Lincoln Riley stock.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: Probably confirmed again after the Washington game.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: But the Penn State game as he looks well coached like they they do all the things that people have been wanting them to do in that game and played the way that they want them to play that way.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, like, where does the Lincoln Riley era go from here because I think that like, there's part of me that thinks that the reason that he walks around after the game and soaks it all in is because he knows the significance of how important that was for like the narrative of the Lincoln Riley era as as intangible as that is.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_03]: All right, I think there's absolutely some truth to that.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess maybe the most frustrating part if you're looking at the Penn State game is like, oh, you can be well-coached.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you can discipline.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you can play complete on the road in a big game.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you can do all these things.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_03]: So why haven't you been doing all these things?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: So I think there's like a disconnect there, but to actually see it and be happy about it is great.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know if it,
- 28:14[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think I've been asking this.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: I've been asked the question, like, did he earn more leash after the leash getting tightened?
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know about all that, but I've been saying it's like, you have our attention again.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, okay, everyone was out.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, okay, you're done.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_03]: You're done.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're walking away.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, but then you'd be Penn State.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's like that, the meme with the guy and the girlfriend looking to say, oh, the girls, the like, the new hop board.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_03]: And then like, look at where they're being Penn State.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: You have our attention.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: What are you going to do with it now?
- 28:48[SPEAKER_03]: Are you going to go out and there be Wisconsin or you're going to get a 71?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, against Ohio State.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's what it's about.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: And you have some people talking to the fans.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, okay, we want to like link in Riley, but it's been five years.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_03]: And then to add to the, you know, the context of what we were just talking about and needing this game, look, look what happened.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: that the guy over in Westwood, they went out to Oregon and beat Oregon in his first try.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: And they're looking like a playoff team just by the the basis of their schedule.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, super easy and they could be undefeated by the time, you know, you have the battle LA in the Rose Bowl.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be insane.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: And so that pressure is also added on him because your biggest rival is doing something that you haven't done.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, if they get to the
- 29:39[SPEAKER_03]: They beat Oregon on the road before you they'd be Oregon in general before you that's all adding to you know that narrative against Lincoln Riley so to have his back against the wall in this game and to go out there and deliver Big went on the road Yeah, that's that's that's huge and yeah, I would agree you know take kind of taking that in.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's like wow
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know, did it emotionally, you know, he slammed the headset, let out that scream, you know, getting out some, some emotions there.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I always love to see that, you know, human, the human side of, you know, these coaches who can be robots sometimes, but yeah, I mean, it's a huge just for not just for the program, but also for Lincoln Riley and that narrative moving forward.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's one of the things like with playout and people want to see more emotion with playout and like I always go back to people don't care what your temperament is when you're winning the like it for whatever it is.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: If you're if you're stoic, oh, look, he's so cool.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's stoic when he even when he wins.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: If you're, you know, super into it.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you're Pete Carroll and you're saying it's a great day to be a Trojan every single game.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: people will love that if you win, and if you lose, they'll say it's corny, and so yes, and I think Lincoln Riley's sewing emotion after a win is good, because that's what people have wanted.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: The juxtaposition of sewing emotion, and it being after a win, and it being after a win that they played well and did all the right things and all the clean play and
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: Matt Campbell never should have taken and like all of those little things I think says a lot to last things here before we open up the mailback as you got a bunch of questions from from discord.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: The season five games left at Wisconsin home to Ohio State by week.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: at Indiana home to your Maryland parents.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then at UCLA to finish the season.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: Five games.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: How does that see finished those five games for you?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: How do you project it out?
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know,
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: just based on the momentum.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're going to be very healthy going to Wisconsin.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be very interesting to see like what Wisconsin does again, UCLA this week in the Rose Bowl.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to be going to be watching that one.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously get some Wisconsin prep, get some UCLA early prep and just see, you know, what kind of team Wisconsin is going to be going are they going to be like, uh, obviously a top 25 team, not going off UCLA.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: How real are they?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think they're a good team.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how great of a team they are.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know, based on some of the people they play, but you know, Kudos to them.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_03]: They played Notre Dame pretty tough.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_03]: And first game.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll get to see a sense of them.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: But I still still thank USC is better than them.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: And I think they should win that game.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm leaning towards a win there.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to kick the crap out of my turps.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just be real.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: So that's two wins there.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I pick them to beat Ohio State and Oregon going to the season.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_03]: I was feeling I didn't want to pick them for for Oregon based on how they were playing going into that game, but I had to stick with my preseason thing.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_03]: I just stick 10 toes down to what I initially said all off season so I had to go with them against Oregon still have to be the same way against Ohio State, even though that's going to be a really tough game and you just hope that they
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, realize, you know, they drop the ball against Oregon, they had that game slip away from them and you hope that they actually, you know, come correct against a, you know, how to stay team.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_03]: I think they can beat that team.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_03]: I really do.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: I know, you know, Jeremiah Smith is an absolute, you know, monster, probably going to win the Heisman this year.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: But there is a way they can, they can win this game.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's just going to take their best game of the season and as Penn State showed, like they can be a complete discipline team.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if they get that at home,
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it could be a really special game and a really big opportunity for them.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm still got a lean for a house state.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't been confident they will beat Indiana on the road all year.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_03]: Just because I, it looks like Indiana's getable, but just Kirk's igniting is like an absolute demon and he terrifies me.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's just, he's a serial killer and the best way possible to say.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: Right, he is just absolutely insane and I don't think that's a good match for this and it's going to be like super cold and obviously it's on the road.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah tough game.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: I had that one is kind of a loss and then obviously you see a lay it's like.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy, that's, that's, that's the big one.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, again, as USC in a position where they're gonna be playing spoiler for, for, for, for UCLA, I don't know what the rest of their season's gonna shake out with, because it is an easy schedule for them, but they could be one last team going through this game.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they could be and, you know, maybe it would be crazy if you see a liaison defeated and S.C. somehow just be at least one Ohio State in Indiana and then goes into that game with that being like a playoff spot on the line.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: great that it's it's I always say that the S usually rivalry kind of sucks because both teams are never good at the same time.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: The game in 2022 was amazing and so much was on the line that that that that game and when stuff is on the line it's fun it's great it's a fantastic rivalry but so many times it's not so like it's great that something will most likely be on
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I just go back to where I was at the beginning of the season, which is nine and three.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think that like the the when it Penn State, I think gets me back to the nine and three versus an eight and four seven and five.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's looking too much into it, but more so that was a proof of concept for me.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: If there's good as we think that they can be when they play well,
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of caveats there.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they can be Wisconsin.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think they can get one of Ohio State Indiana UCLA.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: You'd love to.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: You'd love to of them.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think they can get one of them.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's crazy to say, especially because if the one is still just UCLA and then then you still go nine and three and it's a truck season where you lose to the three playoff teams from last year on the schedule.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: is that ultrasound is fine probably not, but it's not the worst case scenario, right?
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's it's not the worst case scenario, which is the one that people were talking about in our chat a week ago, which felt very possible, which was they lose the Penn State if they lose the Penn State, that lose to Wisconsin, and then they'll definitely lose to Ohio State, and in the end and then at that point,
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: are they just going to be all booboo face going into the into the Maryland game and with no momentum maybe they just don't even care and lose that like next thing you know they're not even bowleligible.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: I that sort of thing no longer on the cards for me.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think six and six is on the cards.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: Famous last words.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: famous last word in deed, but also UCLA also just lost a showing quarterback for the year.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_03]: So that's something to take in account as well.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I just think US USC is more talented than UCLA.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously so.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_03]: But it's a rivalry game.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be at the Roseville.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be an insane environment.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they should still be a top 25 team.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's going to be crazy.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's just like a toss-up game for me.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: And, but I do think they can win that game.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a tough game for sure.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: The home field isn't matter in that game.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: It really doesn't.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Coliseum is not intimidating for UCLA and the Rose Bowl is not intimidating for wrestling.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: It, homefield does not matter.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that is, that is helpful for SC that they're not going into some like, you know, snake pit like Penn State was or like Indiana could be because that will be very crimson, not a lot of cardinal and gold in there, comparatively.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, which all leads us to one last question before we get to the mailback is, can actually still make the playoff?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: they still have everything they can they still have everything they wanted front of them to do that.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you can still take one more laws and make the playoff.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: That is what it is.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I've been saying since the off season, given the schedule, there's a world in which nine and three S. He get in.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: You need everything else to go your way.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: You don't control any of that destiny yourself.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: you need a lot of help, but like I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that if a 193 team is ever going to make the play off, one with a schedule like SE has this year, would be how one would get it.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: That's absolutely, you just need some resume builders that's all you really need, just be able to have an argument, you know?
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get to the mail back because we've got a bunch of questions that I want to go over with here.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: You've got mail.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: We got an email, and it was a good email, and then a bunch of discord questions that we got from the Robots and the Discord.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: Eric writes in, hey guys, my wife and I were at the game in one aspect that I must mention.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been discussion by many on social media, but we can take a moment to reflect on how great it was for the band to come down from the highest section of the stadium to play right outside the, quote, visitor locker room.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: It was a temporary setup there to do for stadium.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: After the game, it was epic and created a memory to cherish for a long, long time.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: For full disclosure, our only point of references that we've been fortunate enough to attend a couple of away games and the Trojans are on the East Coast.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: So my question is whether this has happened elsewhere, or if it's a common occurrence at home games, I know the band makes its presence known pre-game and obviously throughout the game, but post-game celebration was a classic moment, or at least classic to us.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I saw those videos, you were probably standing right there, I thought it was awesome.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: One of my favorite moments of my life is the 2017 Rose Bowl, and being on the field at the end of the game with Conquest Plane and standing there recording the players reacting
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: And to see sort of that same thing at Penn State in a totally unexpected place, I thought like the aura from those like Instagram reels was peak.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have any thoughts on that on those?
- 41:08[SPEAKER_03]: Personally, I wasn't able to experience that fully because I was out on the field chasing down Lincoln Riley and taking photos of him and him celebrate.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, you missed out on some observations, but I did when I ran back, said to run back to the media room to get my no-pad and stuff and camera set up to run back into the press, press tent, if you will, it's like a table and, you know, like a crappy.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_03]: 10 set up.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_03]: So when I ran back, the band was still playing for the team or the fans and stuff.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: So I got a taste of it, but I did see all the videos.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, Penn State is currently under construction.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: So that's why it's kind of set up that way.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_03]: And it kind of just created this super cool moment, super memorable moment with the band coming together.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_03]: with the fans and all the Penn State people leaving and the guys over the fence is, you know, you know, throwing the short up and having that.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_03]: So it's why you love college football, you know, stuff like that.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, it was definitely a great moment.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_03]: And definitely, you know, one of those goose bumps, kind of moments.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: It reminded me of those clips from a football match in England where they're walking out and they're all yelling some sort of chance.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: And like, or everybody's on the subway singing the same chance, like kind of thing, except there was the players in the band.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing I liked about those so many of those clips, I saw it.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: All the Penn State fans there, like,
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: in sort of enjoying the moment, not enjoying the moment, but like I think it was a thing for them, too, of like this type of cool.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like I remember as a kid, Florida State came to the call CM in 1996.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was one of the coolest things to see the the the the Tomahawk Chop,
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: In person, I still remember that.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I think you remember those things.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: And a school like Penn State, I think, can respect the hell out of a moment like that from even from a way of fans.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Discord messages.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: We got a bunch of these Kyle from Discord says, how do you feel if Lincoln Riley specifically called you, Alicia, and the Rotpots, an irrelevant, cesspool, all of Mike Elco versus text eggs?
- 43:22[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see the story from texting him?
- 43:26[SPEAKER_03]: I did see this story.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: If they said that anything about me, I've, or, right, of Troy, I've got thoughts, but like, what have they said that about you, how, if Lincoln said that about you and, and your site, how, how would you take that?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, we are SE assess pool.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be like, I mean, any, any, what is it, any, any, any, any, any, any, any, any,
- 43:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think we I think we move some subs.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'll say that much.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is true.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's a good point.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I don't know that Texas hurting for it.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely not.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely not.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because I'd out there on the planet.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: So I think they're doing just fine.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: And so yeah, I'd be a little hurt.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be like this little mean, but you know, yeah, I started to mind one of them like.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: what your focus in the wrong place to like look on the internet and like focused on focus on this site like focus on the things that you can control the other side of it is like I would be lying if I said it didn't bother me you know what I mean like we're all human yeah it would it would suck it would
- 44:38[SPEAKER_03]: He did have to make it a apology.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I didn't see what the actual apology was, but just real tough look.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see Billy from TechSax responded.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm guessing so in some sort of way.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's the whole thing, it's crazy.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: Darley and Grant Harris can Chris go over how you picked what artists you would do on your 10k tattoo and does he wish he made it a higher amount than 10k?
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: it's a great question.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_03]: Great question.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_03]: It was actually because I've been looking for a tattoo artist to be able to do it on the livestream because we did it on the livestream and a member of the Paris style reached out to me and said he had somebody that could do it and he kind of set it up for us.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_03]: He was like, yeah, he said he can come to a shop and do it and you could do it on the livestream.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: I feel back on my inbox to find it, but yeah, he kind of reached out and that's how it kind of got set up.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_03]: So again, I don't know anything about picking a tattoo artist is my first tattoo artist.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I needed some help on the way.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_03]: So the P really helped me out there and put me in the in touch with the person to make it happen.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_03]: And thanks for hand to, you know, let him use his shop and, you know, you know, life should go on.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure that's the only time he's ever done that before.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: How are you with needles?
- 46:04[SPEAKER_03]: I, uh,
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be honest, I have a dislike of them since I was a kid, I don't think any kid likes getting shots, but I really didn't like getting shots.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm definitely afraid of needles.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: I say this is my last continue to fog up here.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: Great TV moments.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: I tried getting the COVID shot because I'm like, I can't do a tattoo because of needles and I think I've had for a grant about like any I would I would feel like I should have got something else like two hours later
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: overgirds.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's helpful for you like that tattoo is like it's a moment in time of like your story right of your every journey and everything so like even though you're way beyond 10k now like the moment still matters right?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_03]: No absolutely every time I I see it and I look at it it reminds me of that so it's a snapshot of time
- 47:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I will never forget.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'm perfectly fine with the number, even though I probably should have chosen a different font, you know, the makes it look like the 10k, look like 18k, but it's part of the story.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I do have something cooking for a potential next one.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: I too, but some things have to break.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see, we'll see, some things have to break for USC in order to have it for it to happen.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see if we can get that done down the line.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know,
- 47:45[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: We'll certainly see.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_03]: And the last thing on the needles like for me it's like I don't like I just don't like it when it's in my arm like I was perfectly fine with it.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_03]: I couldn't see the needle because he's working on my my cap But like there's something about it like watching the needle like yeah in for me my trick is my trick is I look away and Ten I take a deep breath and I just count to ten and that's in my trick since I was like in high school now
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's smart.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's smart.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: I I just try to look away and not tense up because if I tense up, then it's going to hurt forever.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're, if you're calm, it, it goes away pretty quickly.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: The early analysis says did the Penn State wide out meet your expectations?
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: Did you spend there before?
- 48:33[SPEAKER_03]: I've never been to a Penn State game before.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_03]: I've never been to wide out and I had been to Penn State before in the sense that when I was at the University of Maryland, I was on the club swim team and we took a trip to Penn State to compete in one of their, the like tournaments or tournaments, swim meets that they would help for people in the, or schools in the area.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: Fun fact, there's no schools in the area because in the middle of nowhere, but I remember that drive taking forever.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: like forever and it was like I don't even know which direction we came in there's just like all farm I don't know I feel like 10 hours driving from a college park to stay college so I'd never been to a Penn State game and I don't think I saw the stadium when I was there to be honest I don't really remember too much about that trip but this the whiteout exceeded my expectation it was incredible.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I know college football is going through lots of changes and it's, you know, getting worse from NIL and, you know, agents and pro players coming back and lawsuits and, you know, the government and, you know, whatever, but to see those, those fireworks go off and the lights go off and...
- 49:43[SPEAKER_03]: You know the crowd going and saying I kick off like that's what it's all about and that's the moment I'm gonna remember about this and you know to still be able to have moments like that in college football So I was like number one on my bucket list to a Penn State white out So I got my list maybe number one, but it's up there the pictures are great like the pictures of like
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: 1000 people and white jerseys and like one guy at a number 55 like it's it's so good.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the visual of the white out is is so is so good.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's it's high on on my list.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't when the schedule came out like.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_02]: three years ago, whatever the rotation for the big ten was for the next four years like we talked about like we've got to go we've got to go didn't make it so next time we will make sure that that that that we get there but I didn't forget what you said club swim what what was freestyle backstroke freestyle okay freestyle distance and breaststroke uh not a hundred
- 50:53[SPEAKER_03]: So you're the fastest guy on the team?
- 50:55[SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely not.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of those guys were like really good.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_03]: Some junior Olympian guys that didn't make it or go to college swim for whatever reason.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of good swimmers in the world and you have to be a certain level to make it and these guys were just a little below that.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it reminds me of basketball.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like basketball, you go play pick up basketball and you'll play somebody that is like, oh my god, this guy's incredible.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_02]: And like, yeah, he didn't make his junior college team.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh, that's how good people are.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: That like the tip of the sword is even better than you ever think, and it's crazy.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_03]: just over the worst guy on an NBA roster is like the greatest player you'll ever play against.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, a thousand percent.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: Alien 55 says, how is your coverage of the Trojo's change since switching jobs?
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're now at on three.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: You read at uscpeople.com before and 24 seven.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like how how was that?
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: I was a change for you.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like it's been a big 12 months for you.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's been a big 12 months.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly say it hasn't changed that much.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still kind of doing the same thing.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_03]: I just have a more, I have a smaller team now.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I have to carry more of the load in some sense because I was coming from a the biggest USC site on the planet.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, a lot more,
- 52:24[SPEAKER_03]: help in a sense you know if you some guys that can cover some other stuff and you know have to worry about other stuff so just my focus has changed differently but from the most part it's pretty much the same.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_03]: Do you still do in the same kind of story still covering from the sideline um still trying to just you know crank out the best content that I can
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: As a EOC writer, so yeah, for the most part hasn't changed, it's getting used to, you know, new teammates, new colleagues and, you know, a new kind of company, I was with CBS for nine years, you know, I was doing, I was used to it with certain way and they're going to a, you know, a smaller company, but a growing company.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just a little different in that sense, but you know, I've, I've, I always learned to adapt.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: So so doing the same thing, some changes along the way, but so so plug it along.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you're a consp and professional.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's an easy thing for you.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: And this sort of leads into Ilyam's other question, which is a lot of USC fans slash high profile reporters have been alums, Ryan, Keely, Petro, even Scott Wolf.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_02]: But what's it like coming to USC as someone who's not an SC alum and what's the secret to become
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: I'm humbled by that question.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I would say I'm anyone's fan favorite of it.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're on people's Mount Rushmore.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's that's that's that's humbling and I appreciate that if I'm any on anyone's Mount Rushmore, but yeah, I didn't go to USC.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_03]: There's no secrets to that.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I get that question a lot.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's like
- 53:59[SPEAKER_03]: are you a fan of USC?
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: And to be quite honest, I'm not a fan of USC.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't go to USC.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have kind of the same level of appreciation, like an alum would someone who grew up with it.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope that doesn't offend anyone.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's just, that's just how it is.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_03]: But you know, I just try to cover the team as fair as possible.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_03]: you know, I don't want to be a fan of the team.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I will say it is better when USC wins.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_03]: So if I'm rooting for in that sense, it's better if USC wins and gets big wins and you know, we can cover a winning team and not a losing team.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I've covered some some struggling teams and it's tough.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't like doing that.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_03]: I like covering winning team.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm rooting for USC in a sense that I want them to perform well.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_03]: I want them to play well.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_03]: I want them to give us better stories to write about.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: and have, you know, cover a team that people want to read about more and enjoy.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: So and I get to know a lot of these guys, you know, covering them as as guys at kids in high school, you know, I know a lot of these guys, you know, from covering them.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: for the days and, you know, Saint John Bosco and the Trinity League and stuff.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I have a personal connection with these guys and families too.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_03]: So in a sense, I want them to do well.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_03]: And that sense as well.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just too old with that.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_03]: But again, not a U.S. fan.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_03]: I did not go to to U.S.C.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_03]: and the secret for becoming a fan favorite fan favorite journalist.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if there's a secret for me, I think back to, you know, I can't remember where the advice is not like any groundbreaking advice, but just be be myself.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I'm, I'm, I'm, I slant introverted and I give a lot of credit to, to Keely for helping me come out of that.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_03]: and more comfortable in camera and on podcast and we like to say she created a monster because now I do all I like I've done three podcasts today.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_03]: So I've started two podcasts.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_03]: So if if you don't like me, blanky like send her an email.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's her fault.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 55:59[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I'm the best journalist, but I think I try to be the most interesting and creative journalist out there and cover the team in ways that not everyone else is doing, because everyone else is doing whatever else is doing, and I want to, I want to dig in people's ag and try to bring a different side of covering a team.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think the thing, I think the key is being true to yourself, right?
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you don't have to be a fan.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to be a fan to be honest.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to be a fan to be passionate about like covering the team.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to be a fan to like,
- 56:37[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you who caught the third pass that the game against Louisiana Tech in 1999, but that doesn't matter.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 56:45[SPEAKER_02]: That doesn't matter.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's one of those things where if you're just honest, people recognize honesty and being genuine and resonate with that kind of stuff.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like whenever we get comments about our podcast, the one that mattered to me most of the ones that like, oh, it feels like I'm listening to friends or something
- 57:05[SPEAKER_02]: I care more about that than my opinions on things right like and I think that like you probably feel the same way like you care that people are.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to your stuff, reading your stuff, and feeling like you put your heart and soul into it, and are giving them a good product more than anything else.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_02]: Cause like, that's what we're ultimately judged on, right?
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and people notice that, and people see that, and they put you on the route Mount Rushmore with Kili and Ryan, shotgun, and Harbihide, all those guys.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_03]: for sure.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I've glad someone has made me their, they're run Mount Rushmore if they're out there.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but yeah, it's, it's been a fun ride, you know, going from, you know, when I started my Twitter account for my, uh, online journalism class, I took as a junior and you had to start a Twitter account.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like,
- 58:13[SPEAKER_03]: two followers at a star somewhere had to start somewhere.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_03]: So that would be my best advice is just just just be yourself as cliche and corny as it is, but don't try to do what other people are doing.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_03]: Do what you want to do and cover this email you want to cover with your own.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_03]: a unique blend of who you are because no one else can do you only you can do you and also try not to listen to the or read the negative comments because they're out there just take in the good comments.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_03]: I really struggle with that early in my career.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I've gotten a lot better of just like just trolls all the time on social media, especially on Twitter.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_03]: So can't listen to that.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: Just just taking the good comments because those are the people that you don't want to support you.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that like there can be constructive negative things, but yeah, there's also toxic things and yeah it's I think it's better for your mental health to have a good outlook on on what those things are I think we all struggle with that at some point.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_03]: Also, again, I'm not a fan, but I will protect my USC Twitter flock, like if you follow me, you are part of my flock.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a mama duckling and you're my little ducklings.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: And if you're getting to and you're getting in trouble or somebody's coming in their garden, starting trouble in my threads or in my comments, I'm going to hit them over the head with something hard.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not worried about I will protect you if you follow me in your part of my flock.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_03]: I will protect you.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_03]: I will turn on my own too.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_03]: They're acting up someone who follows me.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just put it out there.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: We all need a benevolent leader.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_02]: So that's that's good.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's good.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_02]: In in the chat, Trojan fights says where you celebrating inside with Maryland, BDSC in 2024.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_03]: I was not celebrating because I was just because everything I think about just goes back to the message boards.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, sure.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_03]: I, I don't want to deal with the message boards today.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_03]: So that's my first thought.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_03]: The kid in me, the young 10k who grew up.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, going to every Maryland game as a kid growing up, you know, season tickets, like Saturday was like, yeah, mayor of football.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_03]: Go and crazy.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: But it was very surreal.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like, Maryland, Brazil, a sea, I was wondering, like Lincoln, rather was wondering at the end of Penn State.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_03]: because Marilyn fans rush the field.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I was just wandering through the crowd, like this is so surreal.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like this would have been me.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_03]: This would have been me.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like I would be on this field like cheering and running around like a little kid and now I'm covering it.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's like,
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_03]: It was like a collision of a lot of different feelings.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I was rooting for that to happen.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_03]: I just wanted you to see the width, so I have to deal with, you know, I totally get that, a thousand percent.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's one of those things too, where you never expect Marilyn and S.C. to cross paths and then S.C. because it's like Ralph Friedgen era.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_03]: No, this is way through back.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, is it like Nick Shabinera?
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, bear, bear Bryant, bear Bryant.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_03]: Bear Bryant.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_03]: This might be bear Bryant turtle.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_02]: That was there for like, what, two years or something?
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_03]: Ten years?
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, something like that.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_03]: We still got an Addy though, 1953.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_03]: 1953, baby.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: The year before you see L.I.1.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: So Marilyn 1 before you see L.I.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_02]: did.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_03]: Whoa, whoa.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_03]: I have been holding on to Marilyn being one and out like it's USC and football.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_03]: So let's come into a close this year.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_03]: So we got to pack it up.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_03]: We got to wrap it up.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_02]: You can't say it about UCLA and for a journey.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_02]: Because we don't have to talk about that game.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: From copoidal.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_03]: We don't.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Vince in discord, what has been your favorite S.E.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_02]: wind to cover and write about?
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_02]: Got a narrow down to just one even if there's an obvious answer.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_03]: So I recently did on the helium boys like my top five games I've covered and I think always it'll be the Rose Bowl.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I did get food poisoning at the Rose Bowl and like I totally missed.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: Did you get our Chinese buffet?
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think it was the hot dog.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_02]: Did you get that TikTok reference?
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, the guy who does the mullet reviews, mullet reviews.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, mullet reviews.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, mullet reviews.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I just, yeah, I, yeah, the fish and the chicken and everything going on.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_03]: So, no, I'm, I'm, I'm a hip, I'm part of the culture.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_03]: I know what's going on in TikTok.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think it was the hot dogs and I love hot dogs.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_03]: They don't call me glazing my choir.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so to be betrayed hurt extra, but I got over it.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_03]: It was fine.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_03]: But I didn't like,
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_03]: really get to cover like post game like it ain't going to lock a room is my first I didn't know you look like I had no idea what's going on and I just like drove home and like pass out of my bed like barely any coverage I don't know how I made it I don't know how I'm still here after that so I don't know if that one really counts but I was on the field for that um got to see some great videos before like I it really took over my body um I think LSU is turned is up there
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think LSE was up there just because of what like obviously the season did not go that well, but like in that moment, the snapshot of that game, it's probably up there just like being in Vegas leading up to that in the fans and just like the emotion of winning that game.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_03]: Penn State is up there.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think I was up there.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's an underrated one, just the rain game and just, I think because I just suffered in the elements with everyone out there, like my camera nearly broke and just for them to actually pull it out and the emotion of Lincoln Riley afterwards.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think it tells us you, but I think Penn State is really close and especially if you see wins more off the twin, I think it'll move up.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I totally give that.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think that the Rose Bowl is such a touchstone for I think a lot of people in our industry, if you will, that is hard to beat.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm bummed that I'm bummed you were going through,
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_02]: through it that night, that's brutal.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here though.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you survived, you survived.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of big games on the schedule left.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_02]: So like plenty of opportunities to add games to that list.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of quick things before we get into a couple of off-topic questions, Randy from Redlands, do you do stand-up comedy?
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_03]: Got lots of redlets, you know?
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_03]: I was the sports center, the residence daily facts, so let's go shout out Randy just wanted to have that connection with you.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_03]: I don't do stand up comedy.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not interested in standing up there on stage by myself.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_03]: I do write sketches.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_03]: I have made some sketches.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_03]: I do do improv comedy.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_03]: Um, that's that's as much as I do.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really want to do stand up, but improv is kind of like, well, what kind of of improv are we going to see you at like, you see be here something.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_03]: Haven't done UCB.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I probably will do that within the next year, but I do I do long form.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_03]: I do long form improv, so like kind of
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_03]: uh, longer set pieces, if you will, yeah, um, quick plug.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_03]: I have a residency with my team at the West Side Comedy Club in Santa Monica.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_03]: So we have two shows left.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_03]: So if you're interested, garage band, you can look us up.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_03]: You have two more shows left.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know when they are.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_03]: I know one is on the second of November.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's the only one I know.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_03]: But, um, yeah, that I got, I started doing that like,
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_03]: four years ago, five years ago, something like that.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: So awesome.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_02]: I absolutely will, we'll, we'll check that out.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think that sounds, that sounds awesome.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: I, I was thinking that when you said, no to stand up comedy, and I wasn't expecting you to go into the sketch stuff.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_02]: So like the sketch stuff and club swim, I feel like I'm learning so much of the, of the Chris lore that I didn't know about.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm, I'm a man of many dimensions, precisely doing myself clearly.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I've got some stuff here, off topic, where a DMV versus LA.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_02]: Some of these are not necessarily LA things, but just like things that I think LA people can relate to, like, Kava, Kava, very DMV, right?
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, from the DMV,
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_02]: Chipotle, I think we started in Denver, not really a L.A. thing, but it's a touchstone people can relate to what Chipotle is.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: So, Kava versus Chipotle, where is Kava DMV?
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_03]: According to our friend Jimini, when when Jimini was helping me, okay, I know a cover is I did not know was a DMV specific thing.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think carbon five guys are like the two big ones that I think um with with the DMV when I think I've heard those two specifically before.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_03]: I've only had cover once in my life.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_03]: and I have to pull a every Wednesday before doing my recruiting podcasts close to the studio.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_03]: So I gotta go to Polly, yeah.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_03]: I gotta go to Polly, just, I'm sorry, Kava.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know if with you like that.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's all about the, the bottle.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_03]: Have you been to Kadoba?
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Kadoba, Kadoba is more of a thing back in Maryland to me.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: I remember Kadoba's, I do not know if I don't know what Kava started.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_03]: Say again.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I've seen most I most is like the number four Mexican restaurant in the country or something like that.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_02]: Number three and which blew my mind because I'm like, I've never heard of a most before and I've only ever seen it like in Texas or something like I so it's a bunch of places, but just not here.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just down there, but cadoba.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_02]: I've been a cadoba once at the Fox Hills Mall.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it is bogus how we have all been teased with Kadoba outside of the S.C. locker room after games.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_02]: They had Kadoba for years, and it was smell so freaking good, and you're standing right there, getting ready to interview Sam Darnolts, and like he's holding a big ass bowl of Kadoba.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, I don't even know where it could open it is.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_02]: But then I found out the fox still small.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_02]: We went one to know it was good.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_03]: He never pulled a shotgun, just take the cadoba.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_03]: No, he would do that all the time.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_03]: I have too much anxiety.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, no.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_02]: That was, that was pre-insiety medication for me.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_02]: I, no, no chance.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_02]: Tempted though.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_02]: Tempt, there was a, like, big bucket of chips and in case I'll just sit in there.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_02]: So, tempted, for sure.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_02]: Here's one, Silver Diner versus Ruby's Diner.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know Silver Diner?
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_03]: Michael, of course.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: I know Silver Diner.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_03]: There's a Silver Diner in my hometown of Laura Merrill and shout it to Lou, Laura Merrill, and we would go
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_03]: when I was like, young, like, into silver diner, like every morning before like my parents took me to school, like, formative, formative memories.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's your diner.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_03]: So it's silver diner by a landslide.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's not even close.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's not even close.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_03]: Ruby diners is trash.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, not a real diner.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a real diner because it closes at like 630 or whatever.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can be a diner and be open in not be open 24 hours.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know who's favorite restaurant is is Ruby's by the way.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_02]: Keely's interesting.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Or absolute favorite restaurant.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_02]: Ruby's.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking to camera which camera this one.
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_03]: Keely.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_03]: do better.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_03]: Someone clip this Senator.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_03]: Kaley do better and silver down or clears all the every day.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_02]: The silver diner give you the extra bit of milkshake in the middle in the middle cup.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Nice.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_03]: One quick side note about silver diner again, been been going there my whole life.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: My entire life when I was a little baby in a little, uh, what, what are the chairs called where you
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_03]: Um, one time.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_03]: Now my proudest moment.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_03]: One time.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_03]: Um, apparently when I was a baby, I had a thing for.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_03]: dresses, I don't know, but back in the day, sober dinner, wages is used to dress like the like with the, with the like, I don't like the grease, like the grease outfits, whatever, you know, the long, like, like a sandy, like sandy with the long, you know, I'm talking to you.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_03]: And one time, the wages was taking the order and me and my high chair, and she was like leaning over the table and I just,
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_03]: grab the the bottom of her dress and I flipped it up in the air and flipped it over her so her kaboos and under where we're all hanging out um again I was a baby I don't know what's going on with me you can get away with this when you are three two one
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Can't get away with it when you're 31.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_03]: No, you cannot.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so, and I was in that age range.
- 1:12:09[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to put that in a record.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_03]: I was in the, the baby age range.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_03]: And so apparently I've done this a couple times.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I apologize to that just that woman wherever she is.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_03]: I, I'm sure you she's not watching this right now.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but I just want to make.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, she's a therapy right now for this.
- 1:12:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_03]: So I apologize.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's one of my crowning moments at Silver Diner and Silver Diner still clears.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, okay.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_02]: I will add Silver Diner to my to my list of DMB things.
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's still under the Smithsonian, but I think I think we'll put it over like.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_02]: We'll put it over the Jefferson Memorial.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Is that fair?
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's fair.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you rank the things on the mall?
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_02]: What's the number one place to go to on the mall?
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the Smithsonian, I guess?
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_03]: The Smithsonian on the wall?
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_02]: To me, it's, I've never been to DC, but like the Smithsonian and the Washington Monument are the like the two things that I want.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_02]: I want to do more than anything.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you have to.
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_02]: And it's free.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, for now at least green turtle sports bar versus insert her most of each bar here.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take star keys.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_02]: There's something like that.
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Green turtle all day.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_03]: They're everywhere in Maryland.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_03]: They're not particularly like good, but they're like comforting if that makes.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Let's it.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_03]: What's it comparison?
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_03]: Is it like a beat-ups?
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's probably a little, a little crappier than a beat-ups.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_03]: A little smaller, a little homeier than a beat-ups.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_03]: It has a little more, it's a chain, but it has a little more like neighborhood feel than like a beat-ups, which is, feels like kind of hollow and corpus sometimes.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_03]: And if you're a little soulless, yes, a little soulless.
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_03]: There's a little more soul in a green turtle, even though like,
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_03]: Um, it is a chain like Mike Mike locks lead the Maryland head coach like he owns a green turtle.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_03]: So it's got like his spin on it.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, it feels a little more connected to the community in that way than like your average, uh,
- 1:14:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's where the kings took the Stanley Cup first was North Ended.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_02]: The the ultimate hole in the wall apparently that's where you can go see insert Kings player here, more than anything, but here's one we talked about this before we started recording that you've never heard of this, but I was doing some search.
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Elpoio Rico versus Elpoio Loco.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_02]: El Puerto Rico is a specific location, but there's also something called, like, tasty chicken, crispy chicken, something like that, this, this, that's not ringing.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_03]: That's not ringing anything.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_03]: No, but I don't know where Puerto Rico.
- 1:15:12[SPEAKER_03]: I do love El polio logo and obviously being an East Coast, they're, they're not out there as far as I know.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, something I discovered when I was out here for sure.
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_03]: I love Elpoia look.
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_03]: I really haven't had it in a minute because I moved in the place I used to live.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_03]: There was one literally across the street so I would go there from time to time.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_03]: I should get back into the Elpoia logo lane a little bit.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_03]: But again, I don't know Elpoia Rico, but I think it would have a hard time beating Elpoia, Loco if I did.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_03]: Did know that.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's Loco for me.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm gonna guess that that's probably right.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I like a poor local like their bulls, but I I can't do bones.
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_02]: Can't do bones in in in meat.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_02]: That is too barbaric.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm not a not a savage animal.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Cannot do bones.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's if it's deboned and if it's cut up and put into a bowl, hell yeah, their burrito bulls are great.
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_03]: Here's why let you know your answers, my ancestors would just eat the bones.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I know that.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I would not have lived back in the prehistoric age.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_02]: No, this is also why I can't do wings.
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_03]: Cannot do the bones.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_02]: Unless they're boneless.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're going to tell me that boneless wings are not good.
- 1:16:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's the not, they're not.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_03]: but I really want to go down this.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to go 30 minutes into this.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:16:44[SPEAKER_02]: Last one I have and then I know you have a couple stuff and then we'll wrap this up.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_02]: This one I think the most DMB versus LA one.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_02]: Five guys versus in and out.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_02]: I know you and I are both water burger people.
- 1:16:56[SPEAKER_02]: You have to pronounce it water burger.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_02]: What a utter scrape.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_02]: But five guys versus in and out where are you?
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_03]: And it looks good.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_03]: I like in and out.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_03]: Good in and out burger will hit.
- 1:17:14[SPEAKER_03]: We know the fries, we know the fries is trash, whatever.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_03]: The price is good too.
- 1:17:18[SPEAKER_03]: The price is great too.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:17:21[SPEAKER_03]: And the thing is though, and I know five guys is like crazy expensive, but me, Christian, Nicholas,
- 1:17:37[SPEAKER_03]: I love me a sloppy burger.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_03]: I love me a juicy burger that gets all over your face.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_03]: The juice here, the dirtier, the sloppier, the better.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_03]: And their fries are so much better.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_03]: Incredible fries, incredible fries.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_03]: And they give you more of the respect, more than you expect.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_03]: And it,
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_03]: It will cost you $90.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but we're double bacon cheeseburg or whatever, but worth it in my opinion.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:18:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:18:09[SPEAKER_02]: At least in the chat says so fight for in and out fry supremacy, which is the most insane thing.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_03]: I've already lost in the same thing.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've already seen that a, a divorce lawyer over this insane.
- 1:18:21[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I will pick five guys over in and I, I agree.
- 1:18:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like in and out is good.
- 1:18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think in and out is good.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think in and out is overrated, given how the incredible pedestal that people put it on.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I think in and out is good.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like in and out the way I do it, about Chick-fil-A.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm satisfied every time I go.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_02]: It is not the place that cured cancer according to the way people talk about it.
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like I, and in and out doesn't have Mayo, and I'm a Mayo guy.
- 1:18:54[SPEAKER_02]: Five guys has Mayo.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_03]: So, by the end of the show, we can put on a burger.
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they do.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:04[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:04[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:05[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:11[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:11[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_03]: They do.
- 1:19:29[SPEAKER_03]: All right, that's all I got, but I know you got some stuff.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_03]: I do and I just very there's multiple people talking about pop belly sandwiches I just want to say I see you in the chat and you've ever been is the lead love it all the time.
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_02]: I loved it when I was in air.
- 1:19:42[SPEAKER_02]: I lived in Arizona for a while There was one right by my office.
- 1:19:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'd go all the time really good I get the pizza melt sandwich with an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie Chicken breast cheddar chicken cheddar cheddar chicken whatever it is.
- 1:19:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'd get
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_03]: Although on my way back, there was one in the Charlotte airport, and I don't know what happened, but like, I think the mushrooms in it, from my pizza melt were like rancid.
- 1:20:10[SPEAKER_03]: Uh-oh.
- 1:20:11[SPEAKER_03]: So it was really bad.
- 1:20:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, they weren't.
- 1:20:12[SPEAKER_02]: Those are just mushrooms.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:20:15[SPEAKER_03]: We're not gonna get into the mushroom debate right now.
- 1:20:17[SPEAKER_03]: I love a good mushroom.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_03]: I love a good mushroom.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_03]: So we really found them off with the five guys over in and out.
- 1:20:23[SPEAKER_03]: We really missed them off.
- 1:20:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I jumped into my thing here,
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_03]: I like to have a little fun.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_03]: So basically, I don't know if you've seen the, like, keep three cut five trends.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what I'm going to do with you.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_03]: But it's more, I'm going to do, you're going to keep, fuck, cut eight.
- 1:20:46[SPEAKER_03]: That makes sense.
- 1:20:47[SPEAKER_03]: Does that make sense?
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 1:20:50[SPEAKER_03]: And do you have any idea what the category could be?
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_02]: And this makes it more exciting for me.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_03]: I like this.
- 1:20:58[SPEAKER_03]: Do you do you want to know what it is or do you just want to like figure out as it goes if you look at it.
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_03]: I want to figure it out.
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the videos like on TikTok or something.
- 1:21:09[SPEAKER_02]: My biggest thought is how do they remember how many that they have.
- 1:21:13[SPEAKER_02]: So like I.
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_02]: You said keep keep five cut eight.
- 1:21:17[SPEAKER_03]: So like we'll ever remember that there's 13 I will I will track for you 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 11 12 13 there's 13.
- 1:21:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so it's it's blind keeping cuts.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_03]: Correct.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_03]: You don't want another category ahead of time.
- 1:21:34[SPEAKER_03]: You want to figure out as you go.
- 1:21:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's going to be brought in blind obvious.
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:21:38[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_03]: Are you ready.
- 1:21:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:21:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:21:42[SPEAKER_03]: First one.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_03]: Festivis.
- 1:21:48[SPEAKER_02]: keep.
- 1:21:49[SPEAKER_02]: So festive is for the rest of us.
- 1:21:51[SPEAKER_02]: I've got my festiveist pole in the other room.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_02]: Keep.
- 1:21:57[SPEAKER_02]: Soup Nazi.
- 1:22:03[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we're getting, we're getting tough here because it's a keep, but this means that we're up against things that are very difficult, but it's keep it's keep and now I have to get really good that's that's too off the bat.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know we got a real tough position.
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I now wish I didn't take fast of us, but I'm I'm keep in business.
- 1:22:24[SPEAKER_03]: The man's here.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_02]: uh... it's the bro by the way it's the bro uh... cut either or cut cut okay a lane's dancing little kicks uh... cut puppy shirt who are buffeted
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_03]: cut.
- 1:22:55[SPEAKER_03]: I really want you to add a sound effect, everything.
- 1:22:59[SPEAKER_02]: We got something on the board here, where's it?
- 1:23:04[SPEAKER_03]: Because I choose not to run.
- 1:23:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there we go.
- 1:23:09[SPEAKER_03]: That's one, two, three, four, five, you're five in.
- 1:23:11[SPEAKER_03]: You've kept two so far.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_03]: That's fantastic.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to see the first two.
- 1:23:16[SPEAKER_03]: Frank Cassanza.
- 1:23:17[SPEAKER_03]: Keep absolutely keep.
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_02]: That was a percent keep.
- 1:23:23[SPEAKER_03]: You got a favorite of Frank Cassandre line.
- 1:23:29[SPEAKER_03]: You want a piece of me?
- 1:23:32[SPEAKER_02]: You have the A, the B, the C, and the D. I spend my whole life knowing that D is the biggest.
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_02]: I spend my whole life knowing that D is the biggest.
- 1:23:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's up there also.
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_02]: I can't even notice on the side.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's up there.
- 1:23:51[SPEAKER_02]: Um, there's, there's a lot of them.
- 1:23:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot.
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's the best.
- 1:23:54[SPEAKER_02]: He's the absolute best.
- 1:23:56[SPEAKER_02]: And the greatest recast of any character in the history of TV.
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever seen the, the first Frank Estanza?
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, memorable because he was terrible.
- 1:24:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think the guy died.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm sorry,
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_03]: you have three slots filled.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_03]: So two more slots.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_03]: Gonna keep going.
- 1:24:25[SPEAKER_03]: Junior mince.
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_03]: Cut.
- 1:24:31[SPEAKER_03]: Any Rogers chicken.
- 1:24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Cut, great, great episode.
- 1:24:37[SPEAKER_02]: If only for the gift of, yeah, scrimmer opening, the door, yeah.
- 1:24:45[SPEAKER_03]: The sea was angry that day.
- 1:24:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like an old man trying to send soup at a deli.
- 1:24:50[SPEAKER_02]: I said, easy, big fella.
- 1:24:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's a keep.
- 1:24:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's a keep.
- 1:24:55[SPEAKER_03]: OK, you have one left.
- 1:24:57[SPEAKER_02]: One left with how many left.
- 1:24:58[SPEAKER_03]: Four, four.
- 1:25:00[SPEAKER_03]: OK. You may have festives soup Nazi, Frank Estanza, and the sea was angry that day with four left.
- 1:25:09[SPEAKER_03]: OK, this is crunch time.
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_02]: OK. Is that a title?
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_03]: This is crunch time.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_03]: OK.
- 1:25:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's a cotton.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_03]: OK, it's a cotton.
- 1:25:22[SPEAKER_03]: Keith Hernandez.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_03]: My lasking him out of move.
- 1:25:27[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, cut.
- 1:25:31[SPEAKER_02]: Two more.
- 1:25:32[SPEAKER_02]: OK.
- 1:25:33[SPEAKER_03]: So if you cut or keep, it's 50, 50.
- 1:25:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:25:38[SPEAKER_03]: Marissa Tome.
- 1:25:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a, that's a cut, I think.
- 1:25:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'll I'll take the risk here and I just I there there's one sign fell episode that I actively do not like And so I just hope it's not that.
- 1:25:53[SPEAKER_03]: What do you what is that?
- 1:25:56[SPEAKER_02]: The Suddenly my mind is going blank on what it's called, but it's it's the wedding when they go to India and it's the reverse episode.
- 1:26:05[SPEAKER_02]: Hate that hate that episode.
- 1:26:08[SPEAKER_03]: Your final slot goes to Newman.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:26:13[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
- 1:26:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:26:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:26:16[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 1:26:18[SPEAKER_03]: So you're five of our Festival of Supenauty.
- 1:26:21[SPEAKER_03]: Frank Costanza, the sea was angry that day.
- 1:26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:26:25[SPEAKER_03]: And Newman.
- 1:26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:26:26[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:26:27[SPEAKER_03]: Any threats?
- 1:26:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that I have any regrets there.
- 1:26:31[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 1:26:31[SPEAKER_02]: To be honest, I was hoping that you were going to throw out jerk store.
- 1:26:35[SPEAKER_02]: jerk store.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_02]: I would have regretted jerk store if I couldn't get
- 1:26:40[SPEAKER_02]: But no, I think that was, I think that was really good.
- 1:26:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think I did good.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I love that you kept Frank Astanza.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:26:50[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have a favorite episode?
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_03]: Do I have a favorite episode?
- 1:26:55[SPEAKER_03]: I like the one I don't, I don't remember what it's called.
- 1:26:59[SPEAKER_03]: Like I don't, you've probably seen every episode.
- 1:27:03[SPEAKER_03]: nine times at least.
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I feel like I've never watched it like start to finish, but I've seen a lot of sign feelings.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_03]: I really like the one where Jerry's being interrogated by Newman at the Yeah, I'm actually quite comfortable.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_03]: And he, and he, yeah, I really wrote that one.
- 1:27:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_03]: And he takes the drink at the last thing like I like to see was angry that day I like that one.
- 1:27:35[SPEAKER_03]: I like the moment where George is being a bad boy.
- 1:27:37[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously it's got the iconic you want to piece of me Seeing with the bloopers.
- 1:27:42[SPEAKER_03]: I watched the bloopers every time I see it come up on tiktok or whatever
- 1:27:46[SPEAKER_02]: I, I think those are all great picks.
- 1:27:49[SPEAKER_02]: I, my room marine biologist, which is the, the sea was angry that day.
- 1:27:55[SPEAKER_02]: That to me is, is one of, is a Mount Rushmore Mount, Mount Sinmore episode for me.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_02]: That one jerk store.
- 1:28:08[SPEAKER_02]: A bookman is good.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_02]: Band-in-Chance's Bob Thakamano was robbed.
- 1:28:16[SPEAKER_02]: Justice for Lomas, Justice for Lomas.
- 1:28:19[SPEAKER_02]: But another one.
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_02]: The double episode with
- 1:28:29[SPEAKER_02]: with Keith Hernandez, where there's the spit, where Kramer gets spit on by Roger McDowell, great episode, great episode.
- 1:28:45[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I'm a sucker for any of the festival stuff, but the strike is a great episode, which is the best of us episode.
- 1:28:52[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I love that.
- 1:28:53[SPEAKER_02]: That was
- 1:28:58[SPEAKER_03]: Do you ever thought of doing a like a Seinfeld pod?
- 1:29:03[SPEAKER_02]: No, but I, so I did Seinfeld trivia once in Phoenix with some guys that I worked with.
- 1:29:14[SPEAKER_02]: One of the weirdest nights of my life because I go there thinking I know a lot about Seinfeld trivia.
- 1:29:21[SPEAKER_02]: The first two rounds, I don't think I got a single thing right because it was like, what was George wearing in this episode, it was like, oh, shoot, I, I don't know this.
- 1:29:32[SPEAKER_02]: And we were paired up with this guy, who, like, because you had a name, you had a name or a team.
- 1:29:38[SPEAKER_02]: And so the coworker I went with, they wanted to name the team, the black and white cookie.
- 1:29:45[SPEAKER_02]: So we named the black and white cookie.
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_02]: But there was this guy who he always used black and white cookie.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_02]: And apparently he was like the ringer that goes to this bar.
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_02]: And so we got put in with him for a super team.
- 1:29:57[SPEAKER_02]: He knew every single answer.
- 1:29:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I just felt like such a loser that I knew nothing in these first two rounds.
- 1:30:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, so cocky, I've like, I've seen every episode nine million times.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I know it don't know anything suddenly.
- 1:30:12[SPEAKER_02]: But last two rounds, I knew every single thing.
- 1:30:15[SPEAKER_02]: And like I got my confidence back.
- 1:30:18[SPEAKER_02]: And he would do the thing of like the question was asked.
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_02]: And then he's like, okay, so what do you think the answer is?
- 1:30:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:30:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, damn, um, I, I, I think it's putty and he's like, that's correct.
- 1:30:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so like, it was like, one of those situations, we ended up winning because this guy was incredible.
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I don't think we would have won without him, but I, I, I earned my confidence back at the end.
- 1:30:46[SPEAKER_03]: I would have to fight him if he did that to me.
- 1:30:50[SPEAKER_03]: like I'd be like you're gonna get us through the finish line.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_03]: You're gonna get first, but I'm gonna fight you in the park right after this.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to let you know like straight up.
- 1:30:56[SPEAKER_02]: He was very much a but actually kind of guy.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:31:03[SPEAKER_03]: No, absolutely.
- 1:31:04[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, that's why I've never done like a trivia like an office trivia like the opposite my favorite show and I've seen that just like you like I've seen in every episode like nine times, ten times.
- 1:31:13[SPEAKER_03]: So like I know there are people
- 1:31:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I could tell you how many minutes into each episode that something happened.
- 1:31:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and that's where, and the thing with Seinfeld particularly is there's an A story, a B story, and a C story.
- 1:31:30[SPEAKER_02]: And the episode, like, the fastest episode is the strike.
- 1:31:36[SPEAKER_02]: But to most people, that's just the festive story line.
- 1:31:40[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not the name of the episode.
- 1:31:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so there's a lot of episodes that are like, oh, the episode that's about this.
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not the name of the episode.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_02]: And so sometimes it's hard to find what those things are because I don't always remember the exact name of the episode.
- 1:31:55[SPEAKER_02]: Or different episodes feel like they're part of the same, but they're not.
- 1:31:59[SPEAKER_02]: Or you watch an episode and like, oh, I didn't realize this was that episode because I remember the Kramer story line
- 1:32:07[SPEAKER_02]: And the trivia people all know that.
- 1:32:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I say this is someone who loves going to trivia.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I love trivia and stuff.
- 1:32:14[SPEAKER_03]: But there's always someone that knows way more.
- 1:32:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly.
- 1:32:18[SPEAKER_02]: Which is why, like, we, at least the night, we started going to trivia.
- 1:32:24[SPEAKER_02]: When we lived in the valley, we go to this place, best ball in, in, like, blah, blah.
- 1:32:31[SPEAKER_02]: That was great.
- 1:32:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we loved it.
- 1:32:33[SPEAKER_02]: We'd go there and we'd get our ass just murdered every single week like murder like not even close terrible and then we move to the south bay we start going to the trivia bar and suddenly we are those guys and we are like doubling up everyone else's score and then I felt like a fraud because I'm like but I but I know that we're we're not as good as those
- 1:33:02[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, you got deregulated to a lesser division.
- 1:33:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly.
- 1:33:08[SPEAKER_02]: And at least you popped in the chat.
- 1:33:10[SPEAKER_02]: Is it Lawrence or Trivia?
- 1:33:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Lawrence or Trivia is the team at Bestball that runs shop there.
- 1:33:17[SPEAKER_03]: Every trivia loss you know who the got, the team that kicked your ass for me was the Mad Hatters.
- 1:33:24[SPEAKER_03]: It was this group of like, all retired people when I first moved to Long Beach, I was doing trivia all the time.
- 1:33:28[SPEAKER_03]: Like we can't ever beat the Mad Hatters.
- 1:33:31[SPEAKER_03]: They were like just all retired people and they just knew every freaking thing, everybody has that team.
- 1:33:38[SPEAKER_03]: They look like tasting.
- 1:33:39[SPEAKER_02]: How did they know who was on Letterman's third show?
- 1:33:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's always something to say, yeah, I feel like we're, we're not even potting, we're now.
- 1:33:52[SPEAKER_03]: We're just having a conversation with, yes, people watching us.
- 1:33:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, we will need to get together and do trivia, but or at least bingo, because last time, last time we saw you was at a birthday party in which bingo was played.
- 1:34:06[SPEAKER_03]: So close.
- 1:34:07[SPEAKER_03]: I was so close.
- 1:34:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, nearly pulled that out the, is that the, the blackout game, I think, we had to fill out the whole board.
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, so let me play the bingo sense I did I did I forgot why or where I was I meant to send Kelly a photo, but I was playing bingo.
- 1:34:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:34:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:34:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah Bingo's great bingo's great.
- 1:34:31[SPEAKER_03]: It was it was a like a a Tiki bar and they just had like a dude doing like They just had bingo.
- 1:34:38[SPEAKER_03]: They were doing bingo.
- 1:34:39[SPEAKER_03]: So we went to have 46 yeah
- 1:34:42[SPEAKER_03]: He was like very inappropriate though, like very inappropriate.
- 1:34:46[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 1:34:47[SPEAKER_02]: As one is said to take you bar, yes, I guess.
- 1:34:51[SPEAKER_02]: He couldn't get away with flipping up the dress thing.
- 1:34:55[SPEAKER_03]: He could have, but also came off as somebody who would try it.
- 1:34:59[SPEAKER_03]: Which is a problem, yes, which is the problem, that was the problem.
