- 2:04Speaker 3: Let's talk a little high school football. Herbert Hoover will
- 2:06Speaker 3: make the long trip to We're while Hurricane is going
- 2:09Speaker 3: to entertain Martinsburg and what many are calling him possibly
- 2:12Speaker 3: the game of the year. I wanted to bring in
- 2:13Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins not to talk about coverage of that to
- 2:16Speaker 3: Hoover game at Weir tonight. I went to college with
- 2:19Speaker 3: a guy from We're High School, Jeff and and maybe
- 2:23Speaker 3: it's the same guy. And Carl Upright was his name,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and Carl's he was on the Marshall's radio station. To me,
- 2:29Speaker 3: he loved to say we're high. That's what That's the
- 2:32Speaker 3: way he said it. We're high, so we're high. Somebody
- 2:35Speaker 3: said it with that with that emplode, We're high.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Red Riders struggling this year at one in eight, but
- 2:41Speaker 5: they've got it. They've got a great tradition of football.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Particularly the Jeter name is a big name in Weir
- 2:48Speaker 5: for years. Of course, that's where Quincy Wilson is from
- 2:51Speaker 5: is We're high and but they're a little bit struggling
- 2:53Speaker 5: there and Herbert Hoover are going there tonight and have
- 2:57Speaker 5: an opportunity to be undefeated on the season and ranked
- 3:00Speaker 5: number four.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Uh what a season is?
- 3:03Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 3:03Speaker 3: What a season has been?
- 3:04Speaker 4: Uh?
- 3:05Speaker 5: And and you know Dane Hatfield great. It's not just
- 3:08Speaker 5: Dane Hatfield, but it's his surrounding crew. I mean, it
- 3:11Speaker 5: takes a team, but he's obviously the leader. And I
- 3:14Speaker 5: know that Joey feels he wants nothing more than tonight
- 3:17Speaker 5: to finish this thing out right. Ten and zero and
- 3:20Speaker 5: then you're number four. Now, no, I'm not an expert
- 3:23Speaker 5: on the points, and I'm sure the Hoover folks know,
- 3:26Speaker 5: so we'll find that going into the broadcast tonight if
- 3:28Speaker 5: they can move up or not, you know anywhere. But
- 3:31Speaker 5: at four you're getting home games, you know, to again
- 3:34Speaker 5: the trip A playoffs, and as many as you can
- 3:36Speaker 5: play up there at Hoover, you know you want to.
- 3:40Speaker 5: So it's been and I'll have an opportunity tonight. I
- 3:43Speaker 5: haven't been on the broadcast, yes, or of course it's
- 3:44Speaker 5: been Matt Murphy and Tom Bragg who've been doing the
- 3:48Speaker 5: games and Tom's out tonight. So Matt said, can you
- 3:51Speaker 5: ride with me in the front of the truck and
- 3:54Speaker 5: go to We're So that's yeah. So that's what we're
- 3:57Speaker 5: doing tonight. And we're gonna leave here early afternoon and
- 4:00Speaker 5: hope to get some fine dining and locally.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Uh, gotta go Italian in that part of the state.
- 4:06Speaker 3: As I'll say, have you scoped it out yet? I
- 4:07Speaker 3: know Murphy has. I'm sure he has.
- 4:09Speaker 5: He's he's he's the driver of the tour guide, he's
- 4:12Speaker 5: everything everything. Okay, So yeah, but we're looking forward to
- 4:15Speaker 5: that tonight and uh too straight and this is not
- 4:19Speaker 5: this is not insignificant. Two long road trips to end
- 4:22Speaker 5: the season for Hoover. Right had to go to Hedgesville
- 4:25Speaker 5: last week over in Berkeley County.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And those guys aren't back yet, I don't think.
- 4:31Speaker 5: And now they're going to the north, you know, up
- 4:33Speaker 5: to Hancock County in the most northern part of the state.
- 4:36Speaker 5: But that's a shorter trip actually than Berkeley County. It's
- 4:40Speaker 5: a little shorter trip.
- 4:41Speaker 7: Uh.
- 4:42Speaker 5: And so trying to finish it out tonight for Hoover
- 4:45Speaker 5: undefeated season, which is uh, you know, that's what you
- 4:48Speaker 5: strive for, and uh, you know, I think you hope
- 4:51Speaker 5: to get through this game. It's a one and eight
- 4:54Speaker 5: weird team. So it's a team you if you take
- 4:56Speaker 5: care of business, you don't give the ball away, you know,
- 4:59Speaker 5: all that, all that fundamental stuff. Then you need to
- 5:02Speaker 5: get out of there without injury, hopefull, you know, hopefully,
- 5:05Speaker 5: maybe you know, maybe you pull a couple of your
- 5:06Speaker 5: guys and they can you know, they can, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 5: they can be off the field and part of the
- 5:11Speaker 5: second half. I mean, I don't want to you know,
- 5:13Speaker 5: jinx this and put them you know, make it a
- 5:16Speaker 5: game all the way through the game. But you know,
- 5:18Speaker 5: that's what kind of hope to do. Avoid injury. You
- 5:19Speaker 5: want to avoid injury here because you don't have an
- 5:21Speaker 5: off week.
- 5:22Speaker 3: No, some teams turn right into it. Some teams take
- 5:24Speaker 3: the off week of week eleven.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Some teams do. But then other teams just go right
- 5:28Speaker 5: into it. And that's what Hoover's going to do.
- 5:30Speaker 3: All right. Coverage tonight begins apps.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Yeah, so we'll begin right before just a couple of
- 5:34Speaker 5: minutes before the broadcast, before the kickoff at seven o'clock.
- 5:37Speaker 3: And that's so run ninety six to one k It
- 5:39Speaker 3: is all right, and then before you know, Jeff, you'll
- 5:41Speaker 3: be following the bouncing basketball that'll be coming up here
- 5:43Speaker 3: real soon.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Yep, yep, we'll be doing high school basketball. Getting that
- 5:46Speaker 5: schedule together. Now, we have game day on tomorrow. It's
- 5:49Speaker 5: an early start because I'm Mountaineers kick at noon, so
- 5:53Speaker 5: we'll be on at nine o'clock in the morning. I
- 5:55Speaker 5: won't be onto about ten or so, but but about yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 5: but you'll just be rolling back. The cover starts at
- 6:02Speaker 5: nine in the morning and a rare noon game going
- 6:05Speaker 5: to place at Cincinnati tomorrow, and so we'll go until
- 6:08Speaker 5: six o'clock tomorrow evening.
- 6:09Speaker 3: All right, Jeff, we'll be listening tonight on ninety six
- 6:11Speaker 3: one KWS. I get out of here. Time for you
- 6:14Speaker 3: to leave to go out there, Chris. You are to
- 6:16Speaker 3: be a little bit closer to home tonight because it's
- 6:18Speaker 3: going to be a big one in the land of
- 6:19Speaker 3: the Redskins.
- 6:20Speaker 8: Yeah. In fact, I talked to Donnie Maye yesterday and
- 6:22Speaker 8: he sort of characterized this one to his team. They've
- 6:24Speaker 8: been playing football at Hurricane for one hundred years. This
- 6:27Speaker 8: is the biggest game, the biggest game, and there is
- 6:29Speaker 8: in the history of the school, The place is expected
- 6:32Speaker 8: to be packed out. They anticipate a sellout crowd or
- 6:37Speaker 8: a standing room only crowd, And if you're going, you
- 6:40Speaker 8: probably want to get there a little early so you'll
- 6:42Speaker 8: have time to get in there and find yourself a seat.
- 6:44Speaker 8: The stakes could not be higher for Hurricane. But at
- 6:47Speaker 8: the same time, Hurricane has one of the greatest opportunities
- 6:51Speaker 8: they've ever had here. They're in a position to beat
- 6:55Speaker 8: the number one team in the state, and with that
- 6:57Speaker 8: would insulate themselves potentially in the season from having to
- 7:01Speaker 8: face Martinsburg or Huntington or Spring Mills, probably three of
- 7:06Speaker 8: the best teams in the state. They would not have
- 7:09Speaker 8: to face two of those, and one of them they
- 7:11Speaker 8: might they would have to see them in the state championship.
- 7:14Speaker 8: So you get a much easier path to the state
- 7:18Speaker 8: title game if you can win this game tonight. The
- 7:21Speaker 8: only problem is you're playing against the vaunted Martinsburg Bulldogs,
- 7:24Speaker 8: and I think for Hurricane they have got to overcome
- 7:26Speaker 8: that mindset. I mean, people lose to Martinsburg because they
- 7:31Speaker 8: keep thinking about the fact we're playing Martinsburg.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what you've got to overcome. Martinsburg will not quit.
- 7:36Speaker 3: They will.
- 7:37Speaker 8: They will continue to come at you relentlessly and they
- 7:40Speaker 8: don't panic, and but if you make mistakes, they make
- 7:44Speaker 8: you pay for them. You've got to play mistake free,
- 7:46Speaker 8: flawless football, and you've got to play it for all
- 7:50Speaker 8: four quarters, start to finish. That's that's what Hurricane has
- 7:52Speaker 8: to do tonight. I've seen so many teams that will
- 7:55Speaker 8: you know, Martinsburg will score early and then they'll get
- 7:58Speaker 8: their dabber down and then Martinsburg was just like blood
- 8:00Speaker 8: in the water and they'll eat them up. Other teams
- 8:02Speaker 8: I have seen that have built a lead on Martinsburg
- 8:05Speaker 8: tried to coast on it. And even Donnie Mays said
- 8:07Speaker 8: when he was at South Charleston one time, they went
- 8:10Speaker 8: at a halftime leading Martinsburg twenty eight to nothing. By
- 8:13Speaker 8: the end of the third quarter it was twenty eight apiece.
- 8:15Speaker 8: Now South Charleston did wind up winning that one, thirty
- 8:18Speaker 8: eight to twenty eight, but he pointed that out to
- 8:20Speaker 8: his team yesterdays, and you know, we can't sit around
- 8:24Speaker 8: and wait because they're not gonna quit. They're gonna keep
- 8:26Speaker 8: coming at you. So it should be a lot of
- 8:28Speaker 8: fun tonight to look forward to it It's always fun
- 8:30Speaker 8: to have that kind of atmosphere where you've got a
- 8:32Speaker 8: huge crowd, a lot on the line, last game of
- 8:35Speaker 8: the regular season, Senior Night for those kids at Hurricane.
- 8:37Speaker 8: They're wrapping up the one hundredth season exactly, and wrapping
- 8:40Speaker 8: up the one hundredth regular season, so should be a
- 8:42Speaker 8: lot of fun. By the way, the kickoff has been
- 8:45Speaker 8: moved to seven o'clock tonight, so our pregame show will
- 8:48Speaker 8: begin at six thirty. We'll dump out of Sports nine
- 8:50Speaker 8: a half hour early and bring you the pregame show,
- 8:53Speaker 8: and then we'll have the kickoff at seven o'clock from
- 8:56Speaker 8: Redskins Stadium. Looking forward to it, and then afterward Fred
- 8:59Speaker 8: and Dave have Metro News Game Night to analyze and
- 9:02Speaker 8: bring all the scores well across the state, and they
- 9:04Speaker 8: should have the playoff picture finalized.
- 9:06Speaker 3: By the end of the night, right, And what do
- 9:07Speaker 3: you got on Western and Outdoors tomorrow?
- 9:09Speaker 8: On a couple of stories, one the youngest master angler
- 9:13Speaker 8: in state history since they institute of the Master Angler program.
- 9:16Speaker 8: We'll hear from that young man age fourteen from Putnam County.
- 9:19Speaker 8: He'll join me and we have another big buck story
- 9:23Speaker 8: passed along to you as well, So that'll that'll be
- 9:25Speaker 8: on the show tomorrow.
- 9:26Speaker 3: So then I failed to mention before you let you go, Chris,
- 9:29Speaker 3: is that you just celebrated an anniversary here, is that right? Yes?
- 9:32Speaker 3: I did.
- 9:33Speaker 8: This past week marked thirty four years that had been
- 9:36Speaker 8: with this company in one capacity or another.
- 9:40Speaker 3: But are you still on the probationary period?
- 9:42Speaker 8: Actually, I think that was finally lifted.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Okay, when you went to the Hall of Fame. I
- 9:46Speaker 3: think that was when they lifted it. I think Steve
- 9:49Speaker 3: Bishop across the hall at V one hundred forty four
- 9:51Speaker 3: years earlier this week.
- 9:52Speaker 8: He's been here forty four years now, he's not been here.
- 9:55Speaker 8: He has been here, But at the time he started,
- 9:57Speaker 8: our company did not own V one hundred.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Okay. He he came with the company, He came with
- 10:02Speaker 3: the state, he came with the body. Yeah.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Now Anthony came with the building, he came with the station, right,
- 10:06Speaker 8: So yeah, they were a different owner when he started.
- 10:08Speaker 8: But yeah, that's that's a remarkable career as well.
- 10:11Speaker 3: All right, Chris, appreciate it. We'll be listening night man.
- 10:13Speaker 7: Thanks.
- 10:13Speaker 3: He about a good one, all right, Chris Lawrence again,
- 10:15Speaker 3: and that our coverage will begin a night around six thirty,
- 10:17Speaker 3: We'll jump out of a sports signed early to give
- 10:19Speaker 3: you Hurricane and Martinsburg Tonight. In the Land of the Redskins,

- 10:53Speaker 3: bring in our good friend Hannah Gardner from the Kennaw
- 10:55Speaker 3: Charles New Main Association with this week's todop me Please
- 10:58Speaker 3: pet of the Week. Hannah, Good morning, good morning.
- 11:01Speaker 9: How are you.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, Welcome to the show. Your away last week,
- 11:06Speaker 3: but we got you. We we got your dog taken
- 11:08Speaker 3: care of. You know we've talked about your dog last week.
- 11:10Speaker 3: This week we got a new critter to try to
- 11:12Speaker 3: get adopted, and as always, I've got the picture posted
- 11:15Speaker 3: at Dave Allen Radio on Facebook and at Dave seventy
- 11:19Speaker 3: on exe. Ortis is formally known as Twitter. Marshmallow is
- 11:22Speaker 3: our dog. Tell us all about Marshmallow, Hannah.
- 11:25Speaker 9: Okay, Well, Marshmallow. She is a sweet girl who is
- 11:31Speaker 9: around two years old. Again, we go bout their gums
- 11:35Speaker 9: and their teeth, so that could always be kind of
- 11:38Speaker 9: a roundabout, but she is averaged at two years old.
- 11:42Speaker 9: She's not six yet, but she will be before she
- 11:45Speaker 9: goes home. And she is foster eligible, so if anybody
- 11:49Speaker 9: wanted to foster her to adopt her, or if they
- 11:53Speaker 9: just wanted to foster her to get her out of
- 11:54Speaker 9: the shelter, they could do that and learn more about her.
- 11:57Speaker 9: It also helps us learn more about them as well well,
- 12:00Speaker 9: because you may learn things that we do not know,
- 12:02Speaker 9: because inside of a home is a lot less stressful
- 12:05Speaker 9: than inside of a shelter, so they're going to open
- 12:07Speaker 9: up a lot more inside of your home versus with us.
- 12:12Speaker 9: She is kid friendly from what we've noticed. She's a very,
- 12:15Speaker 9: very social girl. She's social with everybody. She does love
- 12:21Speaker 9: other dogs that she just prefers calmer dogs. She likes
- 12:25Speaker 9: dogs who aren't going to probably be too hyperactive, but
- 12:29Speaker 9: she's very very sweet and she is fully sponsored, so
- 12:32Speaker 9: if anybody wanted to adopt her, or like I said,
- 12:35Speaker 9: if you wanted to foster to adopt, you could definitely
- 12:37Speaker 9: do that as well. But she is fully sponsored, so
- 12:40Speaker 9: regardless of how you adopt, she will be fully covered
- 12:44Speaker 9: for her adoption fee. Also, I will say she does
- 12:48Speaker 9: fool in the leash a little bit, but that is
- 12:50Speaker 9: to be expected with most of the shelter dogs that
- 12:53Speaker 9: come in, as most of them have never even seen
- 12:56Speaker 9: a leash, so just make sure you're very patient with her.
- 13:01Speaker 9: She's pretty good on the leash, I will say, for
- 13:04Speaker 9: the most part, but she does tug a little bit
- 13:05Speaker 9: when she gets distracted, and she does com sences too.
- 13:08Speaker 9: I will say that she is a very very smart girl.
- 13:13Speaker 9: She knows how to com fences and jump on so
- 13:16Speaker 9: somebody who has like a good fencing yard that is
- 13:20Speaker 9: tall enough to where she can't jump it, or if
- 13:23Speaker 9: you're outside with her while she's outside until she gets
- 13:26Speaker 9: used to the routine at least because I don't think
- 13:29Speaker 9: that she would do it forever. But I'm not entirely sure.
- 13:32Speaker 9: But she is a very very sweet girl and she
- 13:34Speaker 9: sits it around I think thirty eight thirty nine pounds,
- 13:37Speaker 9: So she's a good, good, perfect sized family little dog.
- 13:40Speaker 9: I believe well.
- 13:41Speaker 3: She is a beautiful, beautiful dog. And again, if you
- 13:43Speaker 3: want to see Marshmallow's picture, it is posted as always
- 13:46Speaker 3: on my social media in Dave Island Radio and at
- 13:48Speaker 3: Dave seventy on X last week and I got a
- 13:51Speaker 3: chance to talk about a little bit on the air
- 13:53Speaker 3: in your absence. I know that you guys were kind
- 13:56Speaker 3: of kind of covered up so to speak with some parvopops.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Can you gives an update on that situation.
- 14:02Speaker 9: Yeah, we still have a lot of tarvo puppies downstairs
- 14:07Speaker 9: in our parvo ward, but I will say that we
- 14:11Speaker 9: did have some yesterday that we're positive for parvo as well,
- 14:15Speaker 9: so we've gotten more down there. So we are still
- 14:18Speaker 9: just kind of tracking with getting treatment in them and
- 14:22Speaker 9: making sure that they are doing good. They have been
- 14:24Speaker 9: really really good going down there and just making sure
- 14:28Speaker 9: that they're all doing okay before they leave overnight and
- 14:31Speaker 9: if they are in critical condition. They make sure that
- 14:34Speaker 9: they work their hardest and do their best to make
- 14:36Speaker 9: sure that those are good before they even leave, or
- 14:38Speaker 9: somebody will typically take them home if possible. But I
- 14:43Speaker 9: will say that they are doing much better, I believe
- 14:46Speaker 9: when I checked yesterday.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Well, and that's good news. What else you got going
- 14:51Speaker 3: on shelter, any big events coming up or anything that
- 14:53Speaker 3: you need to plug this morning?
- 14:56Speaker 9: So, yes, we actually have a lot of cats and kittens, dogs,
- 15:00Speaker 9: I'm sure as you are aware, and I do believe
- 15:03Speaker 9: that all adult dogs are twenty dollars to adopt right now.
- 15:08Speaker 9: And then of course we have a lot of fully
- 15:11Speaker 9: sponsored dogs at the moment as well, So even if
- 15:15Speaker 9: we did not have an event, we still have a
- 15:18Speaker 9: lot of animals that people have generously people or businesses
- 15:22Speaker 9: have generously donated to cover their adoption fee. So if
- 15:26Speaker 9: you want to come in, but maybe just at the
- 15:28Speaker 9: moment you don't quite have the money to do a
- 15:31Speaker 9: full adoption or something like that, but you still want
- 15:34Speaker 9: to adopt, come on up. I'm sure we can pair
- 15:36Speaker 9: somebody with you that would work for your lifestyle and
- 15:39Speaker 9: we can figure something out, as most of them are fully.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Sponsored, and of course, as always you're in need of stuff,
- 15:46Speaker 3: So what do you need right now?
- 15:48Speaker 9: Yes, of course we always need pretty much everything at
- 15:52Speaker 9: all times, I'll say, because even when we do get
- 15:55Speaker 9: a buttload OF's tough in, we still end up needing
- 15:58Speaker 9: it a couple days later. So all the linens that
- 16:01Speaker 9: you can bring in, I'm sure we will always appreciate those,
- 16:04Speaker 9: because those go so fast. Blankets, towels, old sheets, old
- 16:09Speaker 9: any kind of bedding stuff like that, we will definitely
- 16:11Speaker 9: take it. A lot of people ask if we take
- 16:15Speaker 9: like animal clothing, animal beds, stuff like that. We do
- 16:18Speaker 9: take those. But of course we are always in need
- 16:20Speaker 9: of food for the cats and kittens, the dogs, the puppies.
- 16:25Speaker 9: I think we need linens for a lot of our
- 16:27Speaker 9: Carva puppies downstairs, and then toys. Of course, cleaning supplause
- 16:33Speaker 9: are always needed. We have a wish list on our
- 16:35Speaker 9: website as well, adopt Charleston dot com, So if you
- 16:38Speaker 9: do want to go online and check on that, then
- 16:42Speaker 9: I believe it's under our donate now or our wishless
- 16:47Speaker 9: section and it will have a lot of options for
- 16:50Speaker 9: you to look through if you want to monetary donate
- 16:52Speaker 9: or even physical donate.
- 16:53Speaker 3: All right, I have a text that was sent to you.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It says Hannah was Sawyer the loose bagel with the
- 16:58Speaker 3: leash attached ever caught. I'm not familiar with this story.
- 17:03Speaker 9: We had a dog yesterday that did get loose from
- 17:07Speaker 9: one of our staff members. I'm not exactly sure how.
- 17:11Speaker 9: I don't know how it went down, but I did
- 17:13Speaker 9: hear that he did get loose.
- 17:14Speaker 10: I don't think that.
- 17:15Speaker 9: We've caught him yet. They set a trap out as
- 17:17Speaker 9: well as alerted a couple other people in the area,
- 17:20Speaker 9: so we are still, I believe, as of right now,
- 17:24Speaker 9: on the hunt for Sawyer.
- 17:26Speaker 3: All right. We got to saw your watch going on
- 17:28Speaker 3: right now, all right, and I appreciate it. We'll talk
- 17:30Speaker 3: next week. Thanks a lot. Thank you and the gardner

- 20:05Speaker 3: Stevens from the City of Nitro coming up in just

- 20:10Speaker 3: got going on. I want to bring in Rob Vanatta
- 20:12Speaker 3: now from Rivers to Ridges. Rob, Good morning, Welcome to
- 20:15Speaker 3: the show.
- 20:16Speaker 10: Good morning, Good morning.
- 20:17Speaker 12: How are you.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I'm doing fine? But what exactly is Rivers to Ridges.
- 20:23Speaker 10: Rivers two Ridges is a local nonprofit. We are essentially well,
- 20:30Speaker 10: we are actually a scenic byeway and on Route sixty
- 20:33Speaker 10: two from Nitro to Point Pleasant, so we technically cover Canal,
- 20:37Speaker 10: Putnam and Mason Counties a portion of each of those counties,
- 20:43Speaker 10: and our focus is history, heritage and recreation along that
- 20:47Speaker 10: scenic byeway. A lot of what we do is partner
- 20:50Speaker 10: with other organizations in the area to promote events. We
- 20:55Speaker 10: help with the smaller parks and byeway parks along the byway,
- 21:00Speaker 10: like Hometown Park. We have a nature trail on top
- 21:02Speaker 10: of Red House Hill as well that we're working on
- 21:05Speaker 10: kind of revamping right now and working on an outdoor
- 21:08Speaker 10: educational classroom for the local schools as well. So that's
- 21:12Speaker 10: a I'll say the.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Elevators River, it's a it's a great organization. And again
- 21:18Speaker 3: I'm very familiar with it, you know, being somebody who
- 21:21Speaker 3: lives in Putnam County, I'm very familiar with it. But
- 21:23Speaker 3: you've got a big event going on that you wanted
- 21:25Speaker 3: to talk about today.
- 21:27Speaker 10: We do, yes, sir, This coming Saturday. We have partnered
- 21:30Speaker 10: with the American Legion Post one eighty seven out Wingfield
- 21:36Speaker 10: and something that the one of these seven posts does
- 21:38Speaker 10: and all American Legions do. They have what's called First State.
- 21:43Speaker 10: So there's Boys State and Girls State, and it is
- 21:46Speaker 10: a program where they send local students to The Boys
- 21:50Speaker 10: State is held at let's see, this year it's held
- 21:57Speaker 10: at Jackson Mills and then the Girls has held at
- 22:02Speaker 10: David and Alton's College this year. And what they do
- 22:05Speaker 10: is they expose the students to write and privileges and
- 22:08Speaker 10: duties and responsibilities of franchise citizens. And activities include mock
- 22:13Speaker 10: legislative sessions, court hearings, details of law enforcement speakers from
- 22:19Speaker 10: all around the area as well to just kind of
- 22:23Speaker 10: expose kids to the process of uh, the American government.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I mean that's a very worthwhile cause it certainly is.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And the weather is tomorrow is going to be absolutely beautiful.
- 22:35Speaker 3: We've had some rain, which we saw really need. I'm
- 22:37Speaker 3: not complaining about the rain. We actually need a lot more.
- 22:40Speaker 3: I was on the road a lot yesterday and man
- 22:42Speaker 3: and wherever you go. I mean, the forest fires are
- 22:45Speaker 3: horrible in the smoke. But tomorrow, other than that, the
- 22:49Speaker 3: weather is going to be fantastic.
- 22:51Speaker 10: Rom Oh, yeah, yes, we've got We've had online sign ups,
- 22:56Speaker 10: but tomorrow we're actually gonna be doing a day of
- 22:58Speaker 10: sign ups as well, the day of registration right there
- 23:00Speaker 10: on site. We're hosting the race at the Windfield Locks
- 23:03Speaker 10: and Dam's Nature Reserve. So we have a great partner
- 23:07Speaker 10: with our board, Chris Grass. He used to be the
- 23:09Speaker 10: lockmaster there and part of his mission when he was
- 23:12Speaker 10: working there was developing that nature trail and preserve that
- 23:15Speaker 10: goes around the property there. So this is a full
- 23:18Speaker 10: five K that will go fully around the nature preserve
- 23:22Speaker 10: and kind of give you a good outlook on what
- 23:24Speaker 10: is offered over there as well. It's great for bird
- 23:27Speaker 10: watching and things like that great fishing area over there too.
- 23:30Speaker 10: Along the river. So it's a really neat option. Thirty
- 23:34Speaker 10: dollars per adult and we're going we're doing ten dollars
- 23:37Speaker 10: per kid. Anyone under sixteen ten dollars. Day of registration.
- 23:41Speaker 10: We'll have tears available. We've got there wood custom magnets
- 23:45Speaker 10: with the Legion logos for every race there, and we've
- 23:48Speaker 10: got wood plaques for the top three men and top
- 23:50Speaker 10: for women. So it's going to be a beautiful day.
- 23:53Speaker 10: Jersey Mike's here in Tas Valley has sponsored lunch for
- 23:56Speaker 10: us and our local sheets as always has been a
- 23:59Speaker 10: great partner and providing our gatorads, waters and nutritional items
- 24:03Speaker 10: for the racers as well.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Talk about before we let you go, Rob, talk about
- 24:08Speaker 3: what kind of a draw that Rivers to Ridges has
- 24:10Speaker 3: been for this Regon, not just Puttnham County, but for
- 24:13Speaker 3: this region. Talk about the tourism aspect of what kind
- 24:15Speaker 3: of draw of this has been well, and.
- 24:18Speaker 10: A lot of what we try to do is I
- 24:19Speaker 10: mean Niger has their own CVB, Putnam County has the
- 24:21Speaker 10: CVB instead is Mason County. But what we try to
- 24:24Speaker 10: do is partner with those cvbs to find the underutilized
- 24:29Speaker 10: or undernoticed areas along the byeway, and we really try
- 24:32Speaker 10: to focus on those by highlighting different aspects, hosting events,
- 24:37Speaker 10: partnering with other nonprofits along the byeway as well, just
- 24:40Speaker 10: like we're doing with the American Legion here as well,
- 24:43Speaker 10: So we try to we're not trying to reinvent the wheel,
- 24:46Speaker 10: but we're trying to make the wheel roll as smooth
- 24:48Speaker 10: as possible along the byeway.
- 24:50Speaker 3: That's a good way to put it. Where can people
- 24:52Speaker 3: get more information about not only tomorrow's event rob but
- 24:55Speaker 3: all but any other events going on with Rivers to
- 24:57Speaker 3: Ridges well.
- 24:59Speaker 10: Our Facebook page trying to keep us updated as possible
- 25:01Speaker 10: and everything there that's Rivers to Ridges Heritage Trail on Facebook.
- 25:05Speaker 10: We've also got Riverstorridges dot Com is our website. Race
- 25:09Speaker 10: details are all on Facebook right now, but you can
- 25:12Speaker 10: also find out we have a nice map of our
- 25:14Speaker 10: byeway on our website that really shows little historical elements
- 25:18Speaker 10: and details along the byeway that you might not find
- 25:20Speaker 10: other places. So if you're ever looking for something fun
- 25:23Speaker 10: to do with the kids, take them on a nice
- 25:24Speaker 10: drive throughout the day and see some history of the area,
- 25:27Speaker 10: you can get that map and pull off our website there.
- 25:29Speaker 10: So it's a nice little resource for anyone wanting to
- 25:32Speaker 10: see some of the unnoticed or i'd say underseen areas
- 25:36Speaker 10: in our area.
- 25:38Speaker 3: All right, Rob Wish is the best of luck tomorrow
- 25:39Speaker 3: and not only with this event, but anything else you
- 25:41Speaker 3: got going on. We'll talk again soon, man, Thanks a lot,
- 25:44Speaker 3: appreciate you. Dave Robin Adam again with the rivers to ridges.

- 32:13Speaker 3: That's awesome and that's what I You know, there's a
- 32:15Speaker 3: lot of different chili events in the area, and I
- 32:17Speaker 3: take part in as many as I can, either as
- 32:19Speaker 3: a judge or just going because I like chili. But
- 32:21Speaker 3: this one in Nitro, again, it's kind of kind of
- 32:23Speaker 3: a little special because the people that went, they're going
- 32:26Speaker 3: to other places. But what do you got going on
- 32:28Speaker 3: for veterans man.
- 32:30Speaker 6: Well, you know Nitro. Actually, Happy birthday to Nitro, Dave.
- 32:34Speaker 6: You might not have realized this, but on November the first,
- 32:39Speaker 6: Nitro celebrated another birthday. But we were you know, formed
- 32:43Speaker 6: because of the military with the explosive plant sea in
- 32:48Speaker 6: nineteen seventeen, and we honor our veterans just like every
- 32:53Speaker 6: community in this area. That is a heck. On Monday,
- 32:56Speaker 6: there's going to be a great parade, not only in Charleston,
- 32:59Speaker 6: but in Ripley too, honoring the veterans. But the way
- 33:03Speaker 6: that Nitro honors the veterans on special days. We do
- 33:07Speaker 6: it three hundred and sixty five days a year, but
- 33:10Speaker 6: on a couple of special days on Sunday, November tenth,
- 33:13Speaker 6: this coming Sunday, we'll be honoring the veterans with a
- 33:16Speaker 6: special ceremony at five o'clock at the Nitro War Memorial
- 33:20Speaker 6: that is located right at Bank Street in twenty first
- 33:23Speaker 6: right there on Route twenty five. We'll have a ceremony
- 33:26Speaker 6: beginning at five o'clock. Every year we have a different speaker.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Three years ago we honored the Rosie the Riveters. Last
- 33:36Speaker 6: year we honored the Ladies of the Military, the female
- 33:40Speaker 6: side of the military, and Mara Bobbs was the speaker,
- 33:44Speaker 6: a retired colonel with the National Guard with the Army.
- 33:48Speaker 6: And this year we are honored to have as our
- 33:52Speaker 6: guest speaker, Major General William Crane Bill Crane. He is
- 33:57Speaker 6: the Adjutant General of West Virginia. He will be our
- 34:01Speaker 6: keynote speaker the Again, that event starts at five o'clock.
- 34:05Speaker 6: We'll be honoring some folks from the VFW from the
- 34:08Speaker 6: American Legion and they will be there. We'll have a
- 34:11Speaker 6: frag flag lowering and raising ceremony at the time we
- 34:16Speaker 6: will be uh. It's just a time for us to
- 34:19Speaker 6: say thanks to the veterans throughout the community. And again
- 34:22Speaker 6: where we are honored to say that we as our
- 34:25Speaker 6: guest speaker this year, we have West Virginia's ajud in General,
- 34:30Speaker 6: Major General William Crane.
- 34:32Speaker 3: It's good stuff. Again we're talking with Joe Stevens from
- 34:35Speaker 3: the city of Nitro. And again what again, Like I
- 34:37Speaker 3: said at the outset, Joe is Nitro is a city
- 34:41Speaker 3: that was in effect born out of the military.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Exactly when the US got involved in World War One
- 34:55Speaker 6: with true activities and every things, sending soldiers abroad and
- 35:02Speaker 6: fighting in the wards. There was a need for gunpowder
- 35:05Speaker 6: and Nitro was selected. This area was selected because of
- 35:11Speaker 6: being able to ship it out to produce gunpowder, and
- 35:17Speaker 6: everything got underway right there in November of nineteen seventeen.
- 35:23Speaker 6: And at one time, if you can picture this day.
- 35:25Speaker 6: There were over one hundred thousand workers in Nitro building
- 35:31Speaker 6: these plants, and some of these structures of the plants
- 35:34Speaker 6: still stand today here in Nitro. A couple things of
- 35:37Speaker 6: you probably already know, Dave, but a couple of the
- 35:40Speaker 6: employees of explosive plants c an actor kind of had
- 35:46Speaker 6: a couple parts that people might know about. But Clark
- 35:49Speaker 6: Gable was one of the employees of the plant and
- 35:53Speaker 6: also the first third baseman to be elected into the
- 35:57Speaker 6: Baseball Hall of Fame. He was Pie Trainer, a third
- 36:01Speaker 6: basement for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was also an employee.
- 36:05Speaker 6: So in fact, I've sent pictures of the company baseball
- 36:10Speaker 6: team to Cooperstown of Pie Trainer being on the company
- 36:14Speaker 6: baseball team, and Clark Gable was also a member of
- 36:17Speaker 6: the baseball team.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Can you imagine, Joe, and I'll go off on a
- 36:20Speaker 3: tangent here before I let you go. Can you imagine
- 36:22Speaker 3: our Hollywood A List celebrities today, or any athlete saying
- 36:28Speaker 3: that I Am going to serve my country in time
- 36:30Speaker 3: of war by working at a plant or doing anything
- 36:34Speaker 3: like they did. I mean, can you do you see
- 36:36Speaker 3: that happening? I'll answer that for you.
- 36:38Speaker 6: No, but go ahead, thank you for keeping me in
- 36:42Speaker 6: the States zone there, sir, and with a possible comment
- 36:46Speaker 6: that I would make, but hey, something else I want
- 36:48Speaker 6: to add that. It's also going on on Sunday, in
- 36:50Speaker 6: conjunction with the five o'clock ceremony, we're premiering a video
- 36:56Speaker 6: at three o'clock at the Nitro History and War's Museum.
- 37:00Speaker 6: The title of the movie is High Tide at Wonder
- 37:07Speaker 6: Beach and Wonder Being Wnder. It is a documentary based
- 37:13Speaker 6: on the service of a local native, John Richardson, a
- 37:18Speaker 6: Vietnam War veteran. Much of the video the production of
- 37:25Speaker 6: the documentary was done in the Wars Museum right there
- 37:29Speaker 6: at the Vietnam West Virginia Vietnam War Memorial Wall, and
- 37:35Speaker 6: he talks about his time there in Vietnam. It's about
- 37:39Speaker 6: fifty eight minutes or so. It's well produced. It's extremely
- 37:43Speaker 6: good and if you are a veteran, especially a Vietnam
- 37:47Speaker 6: War veteran, I suggest stopping by. We are premiering it
- 37:51Speaker 6: at three o'clock on Sunday at the Wars Museum in Nitro,
- 37:56Speaker 6: right there on twentieth Street, next to the Fire Department
- 37:59Speaker 6: in City Hall. And the public is invited. Everything is free,
- 38:03Speaker 6: but just another way Dave to say thanks to our
- 38:06Speaker 6: veterans and go from there. Monday. By the way, we
- 38:10Speaker 6: will also, prior to the parades going on and everything
- 38:14Speaker 6: on Veterans Day, we will be having another very brief
- 38:17Speaker 6: but honorable flag ceremony at the NCRO War Memorial and
- 38:22Speaker 6: that'll be happening at seven point thirty. Very very you know,
- 38:27Speaker 6: just just a good fellowship type of event. We'll have
- 38:30Speaker 6: folks coming in from the VFW and the American Legion
- 38:33Speaker 6: joining us for that ceremony.
- 38:35Speaker 3: All right, lots of stuff to talk about in our
- 38:38Speaker 3: good friend Joe Stevens, and thank you for not bringing
- 38:40Speaker 3: up the Dallas Cowboys. I appreciate that.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Oh tough game this week, buddy.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Well aren't they all I mean at this point, aren't
- 38:47Speaker 3: they all? I mean?
- 38:49Speaker 6: Well, you're coming off, You're coming off the reserve list,
- 38:52Speaker 6: so I mean, right now, everybody else has hurt. But
- 38:54Speaker 6: that's another day for another story and you can we
- 38:57Speaker 6: can sidebar that, all right.
- 38:59Speaker 3: All right, So appreciate you man, have a great weekend.
- 39:01Speaker 3: We'll talk soon and thanks a lot, Thank you, Dave.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Joe Stevens from the City of Nio. Rest of the
- 39:07Speaker 3: show is yours. Anything in particular you want to weigh

- 39:35Speaker 3: about these folks at the Generations Physical Therapy. And I've
- 39:39Speaker 3: very been very open about this because I've I've lived
- 39:41Speaker 3: fifty four years in almost two months of my life
- 39:45Speaker 3: and very few health issues. I mean, I've been lucky.
- 39:48Speaker 3: It's all the clean living I do. I think that's
- 39:49Speaker 3: what it is. But back in June, I started feeling
- 39:55Speaker 3: a very very sharp pain in my arm and my
- 39:58Speaker 3: neck and numb basically from my elbow down and went
- 40:01Speaker 3: to a couple of different places saying, okay, what's going
- 40:03Speaker 3: on here? Did the MRI. I thing did this did that?
- 40:06Speaker 3: They could not figure out exactly what it was. Happened
- 40:08Speaker 3: to be talking to somebody affiliate with Generations Physical Therapy
- 40:13Speaker 3: and they said once you could come by and see us.
- 40:16Speaker 3: And I began physical therapy at the Generations Physical Therapy
- 40:20Speaker 3: Center in Winfield. Primarily I did do one session in Hurricane.
- 40:24Speaker 3: And let me tell you, the America workers, I mean,
- 40:26Speaker 3: I'm still not there yet. I got a long way
- 40:28Speaker 3: to go on this pt journey of mine, but I
- 40:31Speaker 3: would highly recommend that you go check them out because
- 40:34Speaker 3: they absolutely do a fantastic job. And I mean they're
- 40:37Speaker 3: they're getting me into shape. Okay, if that's saying something
- 40:40Speaker 3: right there for Travis and the folks at Generations Physical Therapy,
- 40:44Speaker 3: I appreciate you.
- 40:44Speaker 9: It does.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Twelve minutes now away from ten. I mean I got
- 40:48Speaker 3: a couple of texts here. Text says well says the texture.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Since we have a peaceful transfer of power, all the
- 40:55Speaker 3: union workers who voted for Trump, I won't feel bad
- 40:58Speaker 3: for you when the GOP dismantles your union. All the
- 41:01Speaker 3: people who could pass as South American or Mexican immigrants
- 41:04Speaker 3: who voted for Trump, I won't feel bad for you
- 41:07Speaker 3: if you get caught up in the mass deportations. All
- 41:10Speaker 3: the seniors who voted for Trump, I won't feel bad
- 41:13Speaker 3: for you when social Security goes away due to quote
- 41:16Speaker 3: government right sizing. I don't want to hear whining when
- 41:19Speaker 3: the reaping begins. I haven't had a chance, a whole
- 41:22Speaker 3: lot of chance. I mean, Danny Jones and I talked
- 41:24Speaker 3: about it the day after the election, about the about
- 41:26Speaker 3: the Trump reelection. I saw a tide turning when the
- 41:33Speaker 3: when when the shots were fired at Pennsylvania, I'm President Trump.
- 41:36Speaker 3: And then with the debate and then the replacement of
- 41:40Speaker 3: replacing President Joe Biden with Vice President Kambala Harris on
- 41:43Speaker 3: the ticket. Uh, I don't. I kind of went back
- 41:47Speaker 3: and forth on it as far as what I thought
- 41:49Speaker 3: was not what I wanted to happen, but what I
- 41:50Speaker 3: thought would happen. But I will say that I was
- 41:54Speaker 3: one of the I said it on this show, and
- 41:55Speaker 3: I've been wrong on the show a whole lot. Uh,
- 41:57Speaker 3: But about this, I didn't think we would have the
- 42:00Speaker 3: results of that soon. I really I thought that, I
- 42:02Speaker 3: honestly thought that when the polls closed nationwide on Tuesday night,
- 42:05Speaker 3: that come Friday morning, which is where we are right now,
- 42:08Speaker 3: we would still not know who the president of the
- 42:10Speaker 3: United States is now if you look, Chris and I
- 42:13Speaker 3: were talking about this where Wood on the air this morning,
- 42:15Speaker 3: that I had the TV on the studio and they
- 42:16Speaker 3: were still counting votes, you know, in Arizona or Nevada
- 42:19Speaker 3: or wherever it is. It's amazing to me that we
- 42:23Speaker 3: can we can tally up the American Idol winner in
- 42:25Speaker 3: a ninety second commercial break, but we can't manage to
- 42:28Speaker 3: do it in an election. Hats off to West Virginia,
- 42:31Speaker 3: by the way, for doing a great job and several
- 42:33Speaker 3: other states that did as well. I was very surprised
- 42:36Speaker 3: by the margin of trump victory. And here's the thing
- 42:39Speaker 3: about him, in my opinion, people to this day still
- 42:45Speaker 3: don't realize why Donald Trump is so popular. I got
- 42:51Speaker 3: my issues with Donald Trump. I've made it very very
- 42:53Speaker 3: plain on this show. I voted for Donald Trump on
- 42:56Speaker 3: two different occasions, did not this time. But I do
- 43:02Speaker 3: recognize the power of Donald Trump. Now what scares me
- 43:05Speaker 3: a little bit, and what I have an issue with
- 43:07Speaker 3: is the cult. The cult of Trump Trump is And
- 43:10Speaker 3: I'm not saying because you support Donald Trump that you're
- 43:12Speaker 3: in a cult. That's not what I'm saying, or because
- 43:13Speaker 3: you've voted for Donald Trump. I'm not saying everybody, but
- 43:16Speaker 3: I'm talking about and you know who they are, the
- 43:18Speaker 3: people on your timeline. If you're on social media referring
- 43:21Speaker 3: to Trump as daddy having him, you know these pictures
- 43:25Speaker 3: with Jesus uh soon. That's a little a little weird
- 43:28Speaker 3: to me. I'm not gonna lie to you, but you
- 43:31Speaker 3: know that a lot of the people still don't understand
- 43:34Speaker 3: why he won, and they they cannot fathom it. But
- 43:38Speaker 3: there's a reason. There's a reason why Donald Trump has
- 43:41Speaker 3: been so so popular and remain so popular, and that
- 43:46Speaker 3: is because they see something in him that they can
- 43:53Speaker 3: relate to as a common person. Now, I know what
- 43:55Speaker 3: you're saying, How in the heck could Donald Trump be
- 43:57Speaker 3: a common person? I get that, But I'm saying he's
- 44:01Speaker 3: a master marketer. That's the thing about Donald Trump. Even
- 44:04Speaker 3: with the shooting. And I'm not a conspiracy theorist saying
- 44:07Speaker 3: that the assassination temple was faked or anything like that,
- 44:09Speaker 3: but i will say he handled it perfectly, as a
- 44:13Speaker 3: perfectly as you can handle a shot when you're in public.
- 44:15Speaker 3: He did exactly the right thing, and he the fist
- 44:18Speaker 3: pomp and the whole deal. I mean it was masterful.
- 44:21Speaker 3: It was masterful. I give him credit. I give him
- 44:23Speaker 3: credit for that. Let's do this. I got some text comany.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I'm going to take a break. We'll be back right

- 48:00Speaker 3: Veterans Day? Nearly all of West Virginia and the majority
- 48:03Speaker 3: of Americans agree that veterans are suckers and losers. The
- 48:06Speaker 3: veterans who got captured in tortured are not heroes, and
- 48:09Speaker 3: that a draft dodging rapist who party with a notorious
- 48:12Speaker 3: pedophile is a true patriot. I do not recognize America anymore.
- 48:17Speaker 3: I told you where I went a little south on
- 48:20Speaker 3: Donald Trump. Although I did, I did and still do
- 48:23Speaker 3: agree with some of his policies. It was the Veterans Day,
- 48:26Speaker 3: of course, January sixth, with a bit was the big
- 48:28Speaker 3: thing for me, but it was also his treatment and
- 48:30Speaker 3: his discussion of veterans. And I can't, for the life
- 48:33Speaker 3: of me understand how someone who fought and died, or well,
- 48:39Speaker 3: someone who nearly died for this country can support Donald Trump.
- 48:44Speaker 3: I just don't get that. That's one thing that I
- 48:47Speaker 3: can't wrap my head around after the things that he
- 48:49Speaker 3: has said about veterans. I just that's on one of
- 48:54Speaker 3: the issues that I have. But Dave Allen show the

- 49:55Speaker 3: wonder what disrespect Trump will give veterans on this Veterans Day. Well,
- 50:00Speaker 3: I don't know what the President's plans are for Veterans Day,
- 50:03Speaker 3: but I have a feeling, because he's a president, there
- 50:06Speaker 3: will be a photo op somewhere, and if I am
- 50:09Speaker 3: watching it on television or catch it online or whatever,
- 50:12Speaker 3: what's going to go through me is the things he
- 50:14Speaker 3: said in the past about veterans. That's what's going to
- 50:16Speaker 3: go through through my head when I watch it. The
- 50:20Speaker 3: American people have spoken and as I said, Donald Trump
- 50:25Speaker 3: is the president, the president elect of these here United
- 50:28Speaker 3: States of America. Just as if Kamala Harris would have won,
- 50:34Speaker 3: Kamala Harris I would have said, is my president, just
- 50:36Speaker 3: as I said Barack Obama, who I had major issues with,
- 50:41Speaker 3: was the President of the United States. I'm old school
- 50:43Speaker 3: that way. I'm old school. I think that the office
- 50:47Speaker 3: deserves respect. Whether you respect the person or not, the
- 50:49Speaker 3: office does. And Donald Trump, come January whatever, will be
- 50:53Speaker 3: the President of the United States, and he will be
- 50:56Speaker 3: my president. So there, Dave Allen, Shill five, any Lie

- 51:20Speaker 3: what maga apologists and propagandasts are selling. They are not
- 51:23Speaker 3: out for the common man. They're out for themselves and
- 51:25Speaker 3: they're rich buddies. Period. If America benefits, swell, but at
- 51:29Speaker 3: what cost again. Please sharpen your skills as a journalist.
