- 0:42SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Happy October 14th, 2026, and welcome to the Hoodé All Day Podcast.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Michael Bergs, in the old Stomping Grounds.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Good old Denver, Colorado.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Good to be at Mile High.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Man, it feels like Brant, it feels like fall here.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It's rainy, it's cold, the leaves are changing.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: It's beautiful.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: But uh, I'm definitely not built for this weather anymore.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But uh, it's just you and me tonight, Brant.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Brant, Northern Kentucky, how are you?
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Doing good, man.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Doing real good.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I think it's gonna be fun changing it up a little bit tonight.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Sad that Brian's not joining us, but uh no, he'll be back soon and add his you know, expert takes, which I'm always looking forward to.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: But you're speaking of weather, just guess how did did you happen to hear how hot it was in Cincinnati yesterday?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: For real?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: It got up to like was it 80 five, eighty-six?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Wow, we are middle October.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're warmer than us in Arizona.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It was chilly in Arizona.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not sure if we broke a record, but they were talking about you know how we if we got up to 88, it'll break all-time records.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: So I'm not sure if we actually hit it, but it was a little toasty yesterday.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So today's feeling a lot better, like you're like you're talking about in Denver.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: It was actually a little bit more like fall weather today.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: So, but uh happy to talk some bangles, man.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, especially after a win.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: We're still gonna go the four downs.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Brandt and I are gonna go back and forth.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: First down, we are gonna give some game balls away.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: There was a win down in South Beach this Sunday.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Second down, it is the bye week.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Want a wish for each of us that we want for our Bengals during the bye week.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Third down, we're five games in, and I want your best offseason addition to date that you feel like has affected this team.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And then fourth down, we know how we feel about our Bengals, but there's been some good ball played by a lot of teams in the AFC.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So I want to know which AFC team right now, I won't say scares you the most, but maybe you are most impressed by to date, or you don't want to see us play again later down the line.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: But Brant, kick us off.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: First down, win in South Beach.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Who's your game ball?
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I'm probably taking the uh the easy answer here, but how can you not be impressed with Joe Burrow?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, four touchdowns, just dicing up Miami, just a slow, painful death for them all freaking day.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, 23 of 32 for his completions.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, most importantly, Joe kind of cleaned up the the turnover buggaboo that kind of happened the week before.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: So zero interceptions, had a passer rating of 126.3, actually had four carries for 10 yards, so showing off the legs a little bit.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Crazy legs, Burrow.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I would highlight just the ball placement.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Specifically on the three touchdowns, the early three touchdowns.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: Um, the one to uh the first one to Gasicki, and just where he put that ball when Gasicki made his break, outbreak to uh against Rodriguez, and noticing that uh Jacob Rodriguez Rodriguez was playing him inside.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's throwing the ball as soon as Gasicki plants that foot to go and break.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: So Rodriguez had no chance.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Uh the second ball was my my favorite ball of the day, was the one to P Ryan.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Amongst three guys, uh you know, throws it basically at three guys.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Rodriguez again has great coverage, better than he had against Kasicki.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: And I think you know, Rodriguez is is turning and like just kind of throwing up his shoulders.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Like, what am I supposed to do?
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm right there.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: He just puts the ball, it's just a perfect ball, right?
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Like that, and that's the thing.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: There's there's no defense for a perfect ball.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: And Joe was just just pinpoint on on Sunday.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: And so the the ball to Hudson also on the um on the out route down towards the end zone.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And it what a great catch by Tanner Hudson, too.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: And shout out Tanner for the injury this this past week.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: It's kind of sad news on that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: He was having a really great year, I feel like.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: But what a great catch, what a great ball.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Just they had no chance.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: And so if Joe is doing that consistently, I mean, we're gonna be in every game, no doubt.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: And then his chances for the MVP race are just gonna keep climbing.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, so the other things I would like to highlight with Joe for the season, he's first in completion percentage at 71.4%.
- 5:32unknown: Amazing.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: First in 20 plus yard passes with five touchdowns on those passes and zero interceptions.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: He's got a total 137.9 passer rating, and that's all while being leading a second leading quarterback in the league in dropped passes at nine.
- 5:56unknown: Whoa.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: So just his elite play, despite the drop passes, despite some of the, you know, other challenges that he's had to face with maybe some protection here, some play calls, uh, and just having to put a lot of things on his shoulders.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, Joe definitely deserves this one.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: We had to have the game on a hot day.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: Just love what he did to my to the Miami Dolphins and giving us the win.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Love that with Burrow, especially all the questions that were coming up.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I loved how Mark Schlereth started the game by just saying, I've been in a cave watching every film on this guy I can.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: And he's the best quarterback in the NFL.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Schlereth played with L Way, won two Super Bowls here in Colorado with L Way, by the way, has awesome green chili that they sell here in Costco.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Pretty dang stuff.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: It's called Dang Good Chili, and it's it's Dangood Chili.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Dang good.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Good old Schlereth, good old stink.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: But I love how he broke down how impressive Burrow was because it's exactly what Brandt is talking about.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: And in the placement of those balls, like the throws, it was incredible.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Just watch those touchdown passes.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Even Tanner Hudson, let's say Tanner doesn't catch that touchdown pass.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: No one else is getting that ball.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: But those other two, and then of course the ridiculous to Jamar was just and the effort by Jamar.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: I wanted to go Uno and T to give them the game ball after coming from that cheap shot concussion, uh, T with the adductor, and for both of them to be out there.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: They both did have big drops.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Both of them were on third downs that could have continued drives.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: You know, we still love them and our stars, but I'm gonna go with the others.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: I always love what Shaquille O'Neal says.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Shaquille O'Neal used to say, Look, I'm gonna get mine.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Kobe's gonna get his, but it's all about in the finals and in these big games in the playoffs.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: It's about your others, the rest of the team.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: P Rine, holy cow, was he a bowling ball?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I forget one of the players.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know the guy he knocked out.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: He hit somebody so hard after catching a ball out of the backfield.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: I remember Brant Texton just laughing.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, I could I could hear him all the way in Arizona watching the game, laughing.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I want to call Mafia an other, but I don't think he's quite getting the love yet.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: We had 15 quarterback pressures on Malik Willis on Sunday.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Mafe had seven of them, including a sack, two other quarterback hits.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: The guy was everywhere wreaking havoc.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: This is the kind of stuff we need for a complete team because Brandt brought it up perfectly, talking about Burrow.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Burrow's gonna do his part.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: We know T and Jamar are complete superstars, but if you get these other guys doing their part and carrying the weight, there's no one in this league that scares me that we cannot play with.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So second down, it is the bye week.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: It's time to rest up, time to get healthy, minus our man, Tanner Hudson.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Sorry to see him uh go on done for for the uh end of the season.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: But Brant, give me your wish for this team for the bye week.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you could probably guess this one.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: I'm sure Brian is gonna be able to uh you know nail this one as well once he listens.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: But uh, you guys know how how I kind of preach on defense, but it would be tackling, it'd be getting back to the basics, really focusing on breaking down and improving our tackling, specifically in the with the linebackers in secondary.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So uh so I got a couple stats for everybody on this one.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: So NFL lines list the Bengals with seven missed tackles per game.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: So that ranks 28th out of 32 teams right now.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: So uh if you want to be a good defense, good defense is tackle, they put people on the ground when they get that opportunity, and I think that's what we experienced against the Jags specifically.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: You know, I think we were hoping for some for some yak on some of our throws, and you know, their first guy there put us on the ground, and that's that's to me the difference in making a lot of offenses earn what they're gonna get against you.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: You're just not giving away free yards, free points because you're missing tackles.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: So uh the other high uh the other stats I would highlight with this, and I kind of mentioned it already, but between the linebackers and safeties, it just has to get better.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, but calling out specifically two people, so Jordan Battle and uh Carter lead our team with seven miss tackles each.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: So if we yeah, if they can just clean it up, right?
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: And so battle actually is having the highest rate of miss tackles at 17.9 percent.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: You just can't have it out of the safety position.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: Like the safety, in in my mind, when I'm looking for a safety, the top top skill or attribute that they can bring to my team is they are a sure tackler, they're not giving away free touchdowns, they're putting people on the ground in the right spot.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, and you know, exactly what we signed up Brian Cook to do.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: So if battle can just cut down on the missed tackles just a little bit, I think you're really gonna start to see some differences in this defense.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: So that's what I would that would be my one wish for this bye week for this defense specifically.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: A lot of Oklahoma drills on the bye week.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Knock some heads.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Knock some heads.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Well, I the good news is the missed tackles did decrease by 50% from the week before 12 against Jacksonville, six versus Miami.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: But like you said, two were still on battle.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: There was a play.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: I know Battle had the two interceptions.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: I thought the second one was actually very impressive and almost like he baited the quarterback.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: That was an impressive play.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: We want to see a lot more of that.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: But on their last touchdown, Battle blitzed and he took a whiff at Willis.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: I get it, end of the game, but still, what a great chance.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: You had an awesome day, two interceptions.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: You're back home at Fort Lauderdale, finish the day off by sacking Willis, ending the game, maybe a strip sack fumble.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: But I love that on the tackle, and I'm sure most of the NFL would be behind you on that.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna cheat on this one a little bit.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: I started watching some of that Saban on ESPN, the series of Sabin.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: I've enjoyed Nick Sabin on College Game Day.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: We we were talking before the podcast, Shane Gillis gave him a hard time.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: I think that was the first playoff game, the Notre Dame, Indiana game.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: It's cold outside, and he calls Nick Saban hit his hat.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: He calls him uh Alabama Jones.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: I think Sabin didn't know how to kind of take it as a joke, and these guys have really loosened him up.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: But when you listen to Sabin and his message, 2007, and uh this is my wish for for the the bye week.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: A lot of Bengals fans did not enjoy the win on Sunday.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: I understand it wasn't perfect.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: I understand there's plenty of room for improvement.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Brandt just gave some awesome stats on tackling, especially we've got drop balls, we've got penalties, we got things we can do better.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: But Sabin in 2007, they were six and four towards the end of the season, and they had Louisiana Monroe come into town and they lost to Louisiana Monroe at home.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: And of course, the fan base went crazy.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: It's his first year coach in 2007, first year.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Saban, instead of apologizing, dug in and said, You all are so busy worried about the end result that you don't care about the process.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: You brought me in here to fix the process.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And two years later, what did they do?
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: They won the national championship.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: I don't want to wait another two years for the Bengals to win a Super Bowl, but I want the fan base to relax and enjoy this process.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Look, week three against Pittsburgh was super frustrating.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Completely shot ourselves in the foot numerous times, had every opportunity in that game.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Jacksonville, really good team, hadn't made mistakes.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: We had every opportunity.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Miami, we win.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: It's 28 to 10 at one point.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, it should have been a bigger gap in the in the score, but at the end of the day, we're here to win.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: And so I want the fans, my wish is that the fans will enjoy this process.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Breathe, stop, relax, take a look around.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm just gonna go back to Brandt stats on Burrow.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Instead of piling on this guy, we should be screaming from the rooftops that this guy should be a top candidate with Brock Purdy for MVP of the NFL.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: And so I wish to all you Bengals fans, enjoy.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Let's have some fun and let's get excited for Baltimore.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: I'm so pumped that we get the bye week.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: They had a physical tough game that they should have lost in Atlanta, Baltimore on Sunday night.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: In Cleveland, which you know is going to be a battle, and then we come to town waiting for what good old Trey Hendrickson and our uh our rematch against them.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: So third down, Brandt.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: We're five games in.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: We're here at the bye week.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Got a big one coming next Sunday.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: But so far, what's your best offseason addition to date?
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: All right, you already mentioned him.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: So uh, and quite honestly, I'll I'll admit I was a little skeptical of the ad just because he had been in a rotation over in Seattle and he had shown flashes, but you just kind of wondered like why is he in such a rotation?
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Like, why aren't they using him more when he has flashed and put up good statistics?
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: So uh so my specific ad Boye Mafe and just what he has brought, uh, specifically, like you were you just kind of mentioned our boy uh Trey moving on and and going to the dark side, but replacing what Trey brought.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, Boye has been everything we could have wished in terms of uh uh you know an edge rusher free agent ad for a really good price.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: So for the year, he's already got three sacks, and the more impressive stat is he's got 25 total pressures in five games.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: 25.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: So uh he's on pace uh right where Trey was putting up his stats for pressures.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: So I think that's all you can ask for out of out of a solid, you know, um guy coming off his rookie contract with Seattle.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: So the other stats I would highlight for him, he's got one force fumble, one fumble recovery, he's got a pass defense, and total uh PFF grade of 82 with a run grade in PFF of 75.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: So this this guy's playing solid football.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: He's locking down an edge.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: We're not wondering where's the pass rush again this year.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: Uh he's just solidified the defensive line and all those ads that we that we put together uh in the offseason, specifically Duke Tobin doing his magic.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: So I love what Boye Mafe has brought to the team, setting the tone early in games, too, is what I've noticed.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: So uh I just hope it continues.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: I have no reason to think it's not, and Boye Mafe would be my key addition for the offseason.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: Absolutely love that.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Uh again, back to giving Duke Tobin all of the flowers.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: We signed Trey Hendrickson when no one even knew who he was out of New Orleans.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Mafe, same type of thing.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: No, he's a Super Bowl champion, but like Brand was saying, he's in he was in a rotation to date.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Brandt just brought it up 25 quarterback pressures, which I think are almost more valuable in my opinion than true sacks, getting those those quarterbacks off schedule to help our defense and to help the tackling.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Trey only has 14.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: So already ahead of the curve here.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: And again, we might have gotten somebody before they knew he was a superstar.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Everybody, of course, is going to point to Dexter Lawrence, not because of the stats, but just what he does for this team.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go with his next door neighbor and Jonathan Allen.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Dexter is an absolute monster, but we have seen Mafia eat.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: We have seen Cassius Howe flash.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: We have seen Slayton even have a resurgence.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Jonathan Allen is that leader and dog on the defense that I think this defensive line had been missing.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: BJ Hell's going to be coming back, getting healthy.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: He was back last week.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: He'll keep getting back under his feet.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: I wanted to go Brian Cook.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: That secondary is so different with Brian Cook back there.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Absolutely calms things down back there.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: But Jonathan Allen, as a leader on this defense, screaming and yelling before the games.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: This guy knows what he's here to do.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: And he's on board again with what we were talking about earlier with the process.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: He's not so much worried about getting 10 sacks a game.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: He's more worried about winning and what does this team need from me in order to get to that next level?
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Fourth down, Brand.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: All right, we've seen some of the AFC already, both on national television and in some of these games we've played.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: What AFC team will say scares you, maybe keeps you up at night the most.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: So I'm not honestly going back to the first question, as long as you got Joe Burrow, you shouldn't be scared of any of these teams.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: You got a chance against everybody.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: And quite honestly, I think a lot of them are scared, especially to see Joe in the playoffs.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Because they know he's not going to melt under pressure.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: He's going to bring everything he's got.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: And he's done it before.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: So I think they're more scared of seeing Joe Burrow, honestly, even if it's an away game for us.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: I think they're all they're all knowing they better bring their A game or Joe's gonna dice him up.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: He's only gonna get better for the for the remainder of the season.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: So, real quick, then uh just kind of building up Joe some more.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Uh I think there's some really good options, right?
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Like Kansas City's had a resurgence this year.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Baltimore is solid.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Um, I've always been a big Jetsy Miner fan and uh what he's capable of doing.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then you know, also you have uh Oakland's kind of been of a little bit of a surprise.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: New England might be resurging.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, there's some options out there.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Um, I know I'm blanking all in all Buffalo.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: Can't forget about Buffalo and uh and Josh Allen, you know, the MVP up there.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: But uh I'm gonna go with the Jags just because we just played them.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: I I called it two weeks ago.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: I think they're the best team in the AFC right now.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: They are balanced on both sides of the ball.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Uh their defensive coordinator, he he has been the turnaround that they were looking for.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: So uh I liken it to when we brought in our defensive coordinator, Zimmer, back in you know, two was that 2010, 2011, and we just we we knew we had a good offense, but we just couldn't get over the hump.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: We needed to figure something out on defense, and we brought in Zimmer, and you know, that's when all those playoff uh runs for the Bengals really took off.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: So he's done a complete 180 for the Jacksonville Jaguars defense.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: They're respected, they're physical, uh, they know their assignments, they're bringing pressure, they stopped the run, which we saw you know firsthand.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: First hand.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: And then Trevor is just playing with more confidence than I've ever seen him play with.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: And I think that's a direct correlation with Liam Cohen just coaching him up and making some great calls during the game.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, him being able to spread the ball around, having you know, a good number of weapons, three receivers that can really go get the ball, uh including Parker Washington, and then Tootin just being so fast and physical.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then to ice it all, you know, we got to see it this past weekend.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, arguably, you know, one of the best kickers in football, Cam Little.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Great point.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Distance.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: If you need to win a game, you're throwing him out there and 65-yard kick, probably.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: I don't think Cohen's he's not he's not throwing Trevor out there.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I think he's taking his chance with Little to kick the ball because he just can just boom a ball.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: So uh they're dangerous.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: People need to respect them.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: They're they're sneaky.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: I don't think anybody's really expecting them to be the AFC number one seed, but they're my front runner right now.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And uh, I think they're the team, you know, hopefully we see in the AFC Championship.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're gonna take they're gonna take advantage of that schedule.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: The the South is excuse me, is way down from what I think some of us thought Houston and Indianapolis would be.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: We knew Tennessee was still growing on that, but they're gonna take advantage and eat with that.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: But I you said it perfectly with the balance.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Jacksonville was the first one that came to mind.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Look, Baltimore, I know they're tough, but it's a division rival.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: We know them, they know us.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: It's always gonna be a battle.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: It's tough.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: That's not a scare.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: That's I don't think they're the best team.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: I just know that it's gonna be a tough battle.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Kansas City, I I know Kenny Walker right now is playing out of his mind, and it's fantastic.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: They shut that run game down.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: I do not trust anybody to go over the top and then be able to get points.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: Josh Allen, definitely one of the best players, one of the best just athletes in football.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: But they do not have the mentality for a team like the Bengals to come to town and just punch them right in the face in the playoffs.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: And I'd put Jacksonville the same thing if they had to go to Buffalo.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: But I think you're right.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: I think Jacksonville is going to get to host a game.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: And I think we're gonna make a run here, win a bunch of games in a row here, but we may still have to go on the road to Jacksonville.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: And though I think they are the most difficult to play, I think that is probably the place I'd want to play also the most, just because I think it plays into our hands on there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: But Brant hit the nail on the head.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: If Burrow's up doing his thing, we can play with anybody.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I think that's the exciting part.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: I go back to what we just talked about earlier.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: It's the bye week.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Let's do some Oklahoma drills, let's get that tackling tightened up.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: As Brant would say, get people on the ground.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Brian, come back.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: We'd love to have you join us with the show on the podcast to make it a complete uh circle here.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: We'll get back to celebrate and prepare uh to beat the Baltimore Ravens.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: But Brent, you're the best.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: Appreciate your time.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: The robe looks good.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: And who didn't know then?
