Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode two of Revellio for September nineteenth,
- 0:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm Tom
- 0:34Speaker 1: and we're back for episode two. Whoo whoo.
- 0:39Speaker 2: How hows already doing?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Oh?
- 0:41Speaker 2: I was just gonna ask.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Doing doing doing? Yeah, swimming in the Harry Potter ness
- 0:52Speaker 3: that has been the last couple of weeks here. Well,
- 0:58Speaker 3: I mean, obviously we'll get into it all the news, but.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yeah, there's not more, is there.
- 1:03Speaker 3: No, there's not I mean there's not more, but it's
- 1:07Speaker 3: just it's been an it's been a big Harry Potter
- 1:09Speaker 3: a couple of weeks, and it's so nice because it
- 1:11Speaker 3: just feels like old times a little bit, which obviously, yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 3: we'll get into here in a little bit in the episode.
- 1:18Speaker 3: But we were talking before we started recording. I was
- 1:22Speaker 3: mentioning to Amy and Tom about just the TikTok madness
- 1:27Speaker 3: of Harry Potter the last couple of weeks. So for
- 1:30Speaker 3: you guys listening, if you're on TikTok or on book
- 1:34Speaker 3: talk as well, your TikTok is also probably full of
- 1:39Speaker 3: death Eater thirst trap videos. And those are definitely words
- 1:42Speaker 3: that I never thought i'd put together. But every year
- 1:46Speaker 3: around this time, you know, at Universal Orlando, they bring
- 1:49Speaker 3: the Death Eaters back for Halloween Horronit's and the actors
- 1:53Speaker 3: that they get to play the Death Eaters are just
- 1:55Speaker 3: so good and they just know how to work the crowd.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And there's just so many videos all over TikTok right
- 2:01Speaker 3: now set to very like I mean, they're just their
- 2:05Speaker 3: thirst trap videos. That's why I describe it. There's like
- 2:08Speaker 3: a certain artist I can't think of his name right now,
- 2:11Speaker 3: but they're using his songs for it, and I'm sure
- 2:13Speaker 3: he never thought his music would end up being put
- 2:16Speaker 3: to these videos of Death Eaters. But I think these
- 2:20Speaker 3: actors probably are all over TikTok and they're seeing the
- 2:22Speaker 3: videos that are being creative of them because they are
- 2:25Speaker 3: just working it. And I mean, you know, obviously I'm
- 2:29Speaker 3: a Slytherin, so part of me is just like this
- 2:31Speaker 3: is why I love being a Slytherin. But it's such
- 2:33Speaker 3: book talk coded as well, Like if you're somebody who
- 2:36Speaker 3: likes to read like romance or like dark.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Romance, it's kind of like book talk come to life,
- 2:42Speaker 4: and just the way that they just like lock eyes
- 2:45Speaker 4: with you and their masks, and it's just like I
- 2:49Speaker 4: will admit I've saved a few of the videos and.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Then falling for the Death Theaters.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I'm falling for the Death Eaters. I will have to
- 2:58Speaker 3: I know you guys, Yeah, you guys. They're on TikTok,
- 3:00Speaker 3: but I have to like save a video and send
- 3:02Speaker 3: you so you can see. And I'm sure some of
- 3:04Speaker 3: the people listening have to know I'm what I'm talking about,
- 3:07Speaker 3: because it is just flooding seen right now. And yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 3: it's just I love to see it. I hope one
- 3:15Speaker 3: day I can get there to see them in person.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But it's just it's funny and it made me think
- 3:21Speaker 3: of like our last week when we were talking about
- 3:23Speaker 3: how like, you know, as you grow up and stuff
- 3:26Speaker 3: in the series kind of like grows up with you.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And now you've got all of these adults that are
- 3:30Speaker 3: just swooning over these death Eaters and nothing. I never
- 3:34Speaker 3: thought that would happen. You know. When I read Goblet
- 3:36Speaker 3: of Fire as a.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Child, who thunket?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Who what a buncut? So that's been what's going on
- 3:43Speaker 3: with me?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Look at them death Theaters.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I didn't know what can of worms? I was opening
- 3:49Speaker 1: with that.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Question, yeah, I just like I thought of it, and
- 3:54Speaker 3: I was like, is this something I bring up on
- 3:57Speaker 3: the episode? But I'm like, you know what, this is
- 3:59Speaker 3: all over my TikTok right now, you know, as it
- 4:02Speaker 3: kind of ties into our episode this week.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I know there's people out there that know what I'm
- 4:10Speaker 3: talking about.
- 4:11Speaker 2: So just lookave it at that, Okay.
- 4:17Speaker 5: So in this episode, we'll be discussing the latest information
- 4:21Speaker 5: about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic
- 4:24Speaker 5: at Universal Orlando's Epic Universe.
- 4:27Speaker 2: But first.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Rostling to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network now
- 4:37Speaker 3: for the latest headlines. So, you know, our last episode,
- 4:42Speaker 3: we said, okay, this is going to be a lot
- 4:44Speaker 3: of news because we were catching up a little bit
- 4:47Speaker 3: right from the summer and we've assumed it would slow
- 4:51Speaker 3: down a little bit and we were wrong. So you know,
- 4:56Speaker 3: we recorded when we released our first episode on September fifth,
- 5:00Speaker 3: but we obviously were we made a big mistake with it.
- 5:04Speaker 3: We obviously recorded that episode, you know, before the first
- 5:08Speaker 3: of September where we just got a ton of amazing
- 5:12Speaker 3: announcements on back to Hogwarts Day. So we want to
- 5:16Speaker 3: kind of just you know, run through all of those
- 5:18Speaker 3: kind of announcements, and we've got an official showcase video
- 5:23Speaker 3: and just so much news. So we're going to say
- 5:28Speaker 3: of talking about all the new announcements that we got
- 5:30Speaker 3: obviously for the Wizarding World for our main discussion, but
- 5:34Speaker 3: lots of other things in addition to that. So one
- 5:37Speaker 3: of the first things we learned was about the upcoming
- 5:40Speaker 3: competition series called Harry Potter Wizards of Baking. So this
- 5:44Speaker 3: show is going to be available to stream on Max,
- 5:47Speaker 3: which you know has kind of just become the new
- 5:49Speaker 3: home of Harry Potter, and it's going to be hosted
- 5:51Speaker 3: by James and Oliver Phelps. Yay yay, So yeah, I
- 5:55Speaker 3: think they'll be a great host for that.
- 5:58Speaker 1: That's gonna be so fun, so.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Fun, And I think those baking competition shows are always
- 6:03Speaker 3: really just fun as well, and it's always really cool
- 6:07Speaker 3: to see like what people can come up with. And
- 6:12Speaker 3: so the showcase also provided a ton of updates on
- 6:17Speaker 3: the next stops of several worldwide Wizarding World experiences. So
- 6:22Speaker 3: we found out that the Harry Potter Mule Ball Celebration
- 6:25Speaker 3: is coming soon to Monterey, Mexico. So this event brings
- 6:29Speaker 3: to life the Triwizard Tournament tradition and not the tournament,
- 6:34Speaker 3: the mule.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Ball that would be fun, that would be fun, gable, dangerous,
- 6:40Speaker 4: the mule Ball.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Tri Wizard tradition. And it includes a themed market and
- 6:45Speaker 3: music and dance and photo ops and so there's more
- 6:48Speaker 3: to come on this next stop, and in the meantime,
- 6:52Speaker 3: if you want to learn more, you can sign up
- 6:54Speaker 3: for the waitlist at Harry Potter mule Ball Celebration dot com.
- 6:59Speaker 3: The showcase video also tease some upcoming locations for the
- 7:03Speaker 3: Forbidden Forest Experience, which is really exciting. Amy and I
- 7:07Speaker 3: got to go spending a couple of years now and
- 7:11Speaker 3: was it like, yeah, a couple of years now. So
- 7:14Speaker 3: it looks like it's going to be coming soon to Washington,
- 7:17Speaker 3: d C, Austin, Texas, and Montabon, France, And so that's
- 7:24Speaker 3: really fun. If you're close to any of those areas,
- 7:26Speaker 3: I super recommend doing that experience. It happens at night
- 7:31Speaker 3: and you kind of go through a forest and they
- 7:33Speaker 3: just make it really magical and like honestly very realistic.
- 7:38Speaker 3: So great experience.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It was pretty cool, very cool.
- 7:42Speaker 3: And we also learned in that video that the Harry
- 7:46Speaker 3: Potter Magic at play is going to be coming soon
- 7:48Speaker 3: to Mexico City, Mexico.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Lots of stuff going to Mexico.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Lots of stuff going to Mexico this.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Time, yeah, which is great.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yes, yes, And I think one thing that's great about
- 8:02Speaker 3: all of these is just really showing how worldwide it is,
- 8:06Speaker 3: you know, and just gives gives a lot of fans
- 8:09Speaker 3: all over the world and experience, you know, the opportunity
- 8:12Speaker 3: to experience these things, which I think is great. The
- 8:17Speaker 3: Harry Potter the Exhibition opened in Boston, Massachusetts on the
- 8:22Speaker 3: thirteenth of September, and that's also coming soon to Madrid, Spain.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It's currently open in Brazil and China, and we'll be
- 8:31Speaker 3: closing soon in Germany. So yeah, again all over the world.
- 8:36Speaker 3: The Visions of Magic is going to be coming to
- 8:38Speaker 3: Singapore and they're going to be adding some new scenes
- 8:41Speaker 3: to that as well. And at the Warner Brothers Studio
- 8:46Speaker 3: Tour in London in summer twenty twenty five, they announced
- 8:48Speaker 3: that they're going to have a Triwizard Tournament feature in
- 8:51Speaker 3: honor of the twentieth anniversary of the Goblet of Fire
- 8:54Speaker 3: film release. Yay, yes, so I missed when I lived
- 8:59Speaker 3: in UK I used to go to the Warner Brothers
- 9:02Speaker 3: studio tour all the time, and I loved when they
- 9:04Speaker 3: brought in these different kind of features, and so I
- 9:07Speaker 3: really miss, you know, kind of being able to go.
- 9:10Speaker 3: But I think that'll be really cool.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Let's go if I apply my passport now, but it's
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's next summer.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I can show you the sobbing grounds. Yeah, let's
- 9:20Speaker 3: do it on the road meet up, uh and yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 3: So then also in the showcase, we also got a
- 9:30Speaker 3: lot of updates and game footage from all the kind
- 9:35Speaker 3: of various video games that are out there right now,
- 9:37Speaker 3: from Hogwart's Mystery to Quidditch Champions to Harry Potter Puzzles
- 9:40Speaker 3: and Spells. We learned that there will be new events
- 9:44Speaker 3: and special adventures, new magical creatures and quest unlock, and
- 9:48Speaker 3: for the first time ever, the ability to explore Egypt.
- 9:52Speaker 3: This is all coming soon to Hogwarts Mystery. There's also
- 9:56Speaker 3: going to be Curse Child robes that can be unlocked
- 9:59Speaker 3: in the game, and we also learned in the showcase
- 10:02Speaker 3: that there's going to be new puzzles coming to Harry
- 10:04Speaker 3: Potter Puzzles and Spells. There's a new back to Hogwarts
- 10:08Speaker 3: season in the game, there's going to be new creatures
- 10:11Speaker 3: to unlock, including a Festal which as my patronas I
- 10:15Speaker 3: love that. And there's also going to be a new
- 10:19Speaker 3: super Bombastic Bomb power up which just sounds explosive, So
- 10:30Speaker 3: lots coming there. We also learned that Lego Harry Potter
- 10:35Speaker 3: is being remastered in four K resolution. There's going to
- 10:39Speaker 3: be enhanced graphics, and they're going to release it again
- 10:42Speaker 3: as like a full collection, so you'll be able to
- 10:45Speaker 3: play through all eight films in this remastered format, and
- 10:48Speaker 3: it's going to be available digitally on October eighth, twenty
- 10:51Speaker 3: twenty four on PS five, Xbox Series X, and U S,
- 10:55Speaker 3: as well as on Steam on PC.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Great gaps by the way.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yes, unfortunately I will have to continue to play my
- 11:03Speaker 3: old version on the Switch because no remastered version coming
- 11:06Speaker 3: to the Switch. But that's okay.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's a good game, notist so good.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Love the Lego games.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I love the little cut scenes so they're so funny.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Yes, So that's like lots of game things. And if
- 11:20Speaker 3: you haven't like watched the actual showcase, like I totally
- 11:23Speaker 3: recommend watching it just to even see the you know,
- 11:26Speaker 3: the visuals of these different things that are coming to
- 11:28Speaker 3: the game. And we also learned in that showcase that
- 11:32Speaker 3: there's a new festive book coming from Scholastic in October.
- 11:37Speaker 3: It's going to be called Christmas at Hogwarts. So the
- 11:40Speaker 3: book is going to showcase Harry's first Christmas at Hogwarts.
- 11:44Speaker 3: The text in the book is going to come from
- 11:46Speaker 3: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but it's going to
- 11:49Speaker 3: include new artwork. So this book will be available to
- 11:53Speaker 3: purchase on October fifteenth, and I'm really excited for this.
- 12:00Speaker 3: And we also learned about an upcoming experience involving boarding
- 12:04Speaker 3: a real life moving train. It's going to be called
- 12:07Speaker 3: a Hogwarts Express Adventure. The showcase showed a very brief
- 12:12Speaker 3: taser of this, so we really don't know much about it.
- 12:16Speaker 3: You can sign up at Harry Pottertrainadventure dot com to
- 12:19Speaker 3: learn more and it's going to be launching in spring
- 12:21Speaker 3: twenty twenty five, so definitely more to come on this.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I know that we've kind of signed up to learn
- 12:26Speaker 3: more about it as well, so we'll be covering it
- 12:29Speaker 3: here as soon as we get more information about that
- 12:33Speaker 3: and where it's coming and what it will involve. We
- 12:38Speaker 3: also got some magical merch announcements. So Puma launched a
- 12:42Speaker 3: new Harry Potter collaboration with WNBA star Brianna Stewart. And
- 12:47Speaker 3: we also learned that the entire Harry Potter series is
- 12:49Speaker 3: going to be available on the Yodo Smart Speaker, which
- 12:53Speaker 3: is an audiobook device for children, which I love, and
- 12:57Speaker 3: it provides them a way to kind of easily lift
- 13:00Speaker 3: sent to audiobooks on their own. That's cool, yes, So,
- 13:05Speaker 3: and if all of those announcements were weren't enough, that's
- 13:08Speaker 3: kind of what we learned in the showcase. We thought
- 13:11Speaker 3: we're good, right, Well, a few days after.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Enough I was.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Ready, the doc was ready, and then Warner Brothers decided
- 13:20Speaker 3: to throw in another thing in and we found out
- 13:24Speaker 3: a few days later that Warner Brothers is prioritizing working
- 13:28Speaker 3: on a direct sequel to Hogwarts Legacy. Yay, Yes, So
- 13:33Speaker 3: that's exciting, definitely, Like not anytime soon, it's going to
- 13:38Speaker 3: be a couple of years down the line. But essentially
- 13:40Speaker 3: there's been a lot of like I think rumors, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 3: about there being a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, and finally
- 13:45Speaker 3: Warner Brothers came out and said, like, this is something
- 13:48Speaker 3: that is top of our priority for developing, which is exciting.
- 13:53Speaker 3: And then because the news just has not slowed down
- 13:57Speaker 3: at all, on Monday, September ninth, we learned that an
- 14:03Speaker 3: open casting call was put out for the trio for
- 14:06Speaker 3: the upcoming HBO adaption. So this casting call is open
- 14:10Speaker 3: for children age nine to eleven who are residents of
- 14:13Speaker 3: the UK or Ireland. So that was a lot. Wanted
- 14:19Speaker 3: to kind of speed through that. Which bit of this
- 14:22Speaker 3: news are we all most excited for?
- 14:25Speaker 1: H I mean, out of like the event news, I'm
- 14:30Speaker 1: excited for the Hogwarts Express Experience thing. I think that
- 14:34Speaker 1: could be really cool. I wish that we kind of
- 14:38Speaker 1: knew where that was going to be and if it
- 14:40Speaker 1: was going to be something that travels around and something
- 14:43Speaker 1: that we could actually go to. That's going to be
- 14:45Speaker 1: close enough, But that sounds really really cool. So I'm
- 14:49Speaker 1: hoping it'll be like the Forbidden Forest experience and like
- 14:53Speaker 1: travel and make them stop so more people could experience
- 14:56Speaker 1: it for sure.
- 14:59Speaker 3: What about you, Tom.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Well, I'm actually interested of the Triwizard Tournament, not try
- 15:05Speaker 5: Wasard tournament, but actually the festivities and everything surrounding Goblet
- 15:10Speaker 5: of Fire twentieth Anniversary That's kind of exciting because this
- 15:14Speaker 5: year was super special. We got a lot of screenings
- 15:16Speaker 5: all over the world for Prisoner of Azkaban. That was
- 15:20Speaker 5: cool features at the studio tour, so I'm excited to
- 15:24Speaker 5: see what they come up with. Unfortunately, I couldn't make
- 15:28Speaker 5: it to this year. I wanted to go, but so
- 15:31Speaker 5: I couldn't make it, and Prisoner of Azkaban is my
- 15:33Speaker 5: all time favorite film. But hopefully next year I can
- 15:37Speaker 5: make it to Goblet of Fire.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, I'm also excited too about the casting,
- 15:44Speaker 1: because I think that means we're pretty much well on
- 15:47Speaker 1: our way. I think I saw something like the age
- 15:51Speaker 1: needed to be nine to eleven as of April twenty
- 15:55Speaker 1: twenty five, so to me, that means they're aiming to
- 15:58Speaker 1: start filming around and then. So it seems like things
- 16:03Speaker 1: are kind of chugging along, which is good.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah, It's like once you get that casting, and especially
- 16:08Speaker 3: you get like your main cast, it just kind of
- 16:11Speaker 3: seems like even that more real. Like I know we
- 16:14Speaker 3: talked on last episode about you know, they have the
- 16:16Speaker 3: showrunner and everything like that, but I feel like things
- 16:20Speaker 3: don't really start to feel super real until you have
- 16:23Speaker 3: your cast and you see your face the faces of
- 16:25Speaker 3: who's going to play these people, and it just makes
- 16:29Speaker 3: it that, you know, that much more real. And I'm
- 16:33Speaker 3: excited for the kids too, because it's like, you know,
- 16:37Speaker 3: just how much their lives are going to change. And
- 16:41Speaker 3: it just reminds me of like those videos that we
- 16:43Speaker 3: got to see, like you know, when Dan Ruper and
- 16:45Speaker 3: Emma were cast, and just those first couple of videos,
- 16:49Speaker 3: and it just seems like very nostalgic, and yeah, it's
- 16:54Speaker 3: exciting for sure.
- 16:55Speaker 1: It's always fun when it's casting these childly too, because
- 17:00Speaker 1: they're always on nones because they're so young. So it's
- 17:03Speaker 1: really cool to see on nones come into these big roles.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, I think of like Percy Jackson and how
- 17:10Speaker 1: perfect that casting is. So yeah, I'm excited for it.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Do we think that Harry will have green eyes this time?
- 17:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I just I didn't even think of that until just
- 17:24Speaker 3: now because obviously that was such like a big deal,
- 17:27Speaker 3: like with Dan, and I know, like it was just
- 17:29Speaker 3: it's you know, wearing like colored contacts was hard for
- 17:32Speaker 3: him and like that was so it was you know,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and and blue is close enough to green. But I
- 17:37Speaker 3: wonder if like that'll be a you know if that's
- 17:40Speaker 3: like we're going to really try to get that, get
- 17:43Speaker 3: that this time, just because obviously it's a big deal.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I I mean, I'm just gonna sound like a
- 17:52Speaker 5: party pooper in some ways because actually I've been I've
- 17:56Speaker 5: been kind of staying on to the radar when it
- 17:58Speaker 5: comes to the show.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I have my reservations, and.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I've really haven't been really much talking about it. But
- 18:08Speaker 5: I think it's mostly because of the fact that I'm
- 18:11Speaker 5: a controversial But I'm not quite.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Looking forward to this happening because I don't know.
- 18:18Speaker 5: I I because of my background and how I grew
- 18:20Speaker 5: up with the films and how I literally grew up
- 18:22Speaker 5: with the with the trio, like I was the same agency,
- 18:25Speaker 5: actors and everything. Obviously that's like so inherently carved in me,
- 18:30Speaker 5: and the way that you know these characters to me,
- 18:33Speaker 5: like I can't imagine having another one playing you know,
- 18:37Speaker 5: another child playing Harry or Hermione or Ron or Dumbledore
- 18:41Speaker 5: or Snape. Like to me, I'm I'm a little I'm
- 18:44Speaker 5: a little I'm not worried about the show itself because
- 18:47Speaker 5: I'm sure if they make it right, it's gonna be
- 18:48Speaker 5: amazing and there's gonna be so much talk about it,
- 18:53Speaker 5: But at the same time, I'm kind of like worried
- 18:55Speaker 5: of what might happen to this world that we already
- 18:59Speaker 5: love so much and that group from the films and
- 19:03Speaker 5: that we kind of, like most of us like came
- 19:07Speaker 5: from the films. And then we started like picking up
- 19:10Speaker 5: the books and then started I start to.
- 19:12Speaker 3: See the actors right, like when you're reading, it's like
- 19:15Speaker 3: you kind of and that happened to me while I
- 19:16Speaker 3: was reading, right, because it's like I started reading before
- 19:19Speaker 3: the movies were out, so I think like I kind
- 19:22Speaker 3: of had like a vision in my mind. But then
- 19:25Speaker 3: once we started getting the films, and I thought, like
- 19:27Speaker 3: the casting was just so perfect like all around that
- 19:30Speaker 3: I feel like as I got older, like when I
- 19:33Speaker 3: was reading, I was like starting to picture the actors,
- 19:36Speaker 3: you know, and so it's like you're right, like they
- 19:38Speaker 3: really have just become the face of all of this.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And obviously, you know when you go to Universal, it's
- 19:42Speaker 3: the faces of the actors that are there, and it's
- 19:44Speaker 3: just what you expect. And I think it's like Cursed
- 19:47Speaker 3: Child's like a different thing, right because it's like a
- 19:49Speaker 3: totally different medium. And I think when you think of
- 19:53Speaker 3: like a stage show, you know that the cast is
- 19:56Speaker 3: going to change and they're you know, and it always
- 19:58Speaker 3: looks different, you know, absolutely, so you can kind of
- 20:01Speaker 3: almost like suspend your disbelief a little bit more when
- 20:04Speaker 3: it comes to a stage show. But I do know
- 20:06Speaker 3: what you mean. That's like, even though this is going
- 20:08Speaker 3: to be television and not film, it's still the same
- 20:11Speaker 3: kind of visual medium exactly.
- 20:14Speaker 5: And I'm just I'm just I don't want, like, I
- 20:16Speaker 5: wouldn't want that to like have these repercussions and repercussions
- 20:20Speaker 5: in the end, like where we get like all of
- 20:23Speaker 5: I don't know, like new faces in the theme parks
- 20:26Speaker 5: and merch stores and everywhere, like we get like it's
- 20:29Speaker 5: so you know, I just love them so much, as
- 20:33Speaker 5: you know, they are my hairy, my run and my
- 20:35Speaker 5: harmining for so many people and millions and thousands of people,
- 20:38Speaker 5: and I wouldn't like that to change.
- 20:41Speaker 2: So I don't know what it's going.
- 20:42Speaker 5: To be like their their course of action to say,
- 20:46Speaker 5: if they're just going to be like, Okay, let's you know,
- 20:48Speaker 5: this is going to be serious. But you know they
- 20:50Speaker 5: said something that the films would still be at the
- 20:52Speaker 5: core of the Wizarding World, which I'm not sure what
- 20:54Speaker 5: they meant. Could mean like we're still going to keep
- 20:57Speaker 5: the parks, movie or and we're still going to keep
- 21:01Speaker 5: like everything that's already there.
- 21:03Speaker 2: There might be.
- 21:04Speaker 5: New iterations, there might be new things coming up from
- 21:07Speaker 5: the series itself from the TV show, But yeah, like
- 21:11Speaker 5: I hope that they don't clash and that it's somehow like,
- 21:15Speaker 5: you know, we can still enjoy both and they can coexist, but.
- 21:19Speaker 3: We're replacing yea, yeah exactly, or.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like weird and like cobbled together. Like
- 21:27Speaker 1: I feel like you almost have to keep the TV
- 21:30Speaker 1: show world separate from the world that's already been built
- 21:34Speaker 1: and branded for the movies, for the studio tour, for
- 21:40Speaker 1: the theme parks, everything, Like I feel like all of
- 21:43Speaker 1: that still has to stay like movie realm and then
- 21:47Speaker 1: like you've got Cursed Child realm and then you've got TV.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Hopefully that's how they do it. I can't imagine they
- 21:55Speaker 1: would like try and somehow shoehorn it in at like
- 22:00Speaker 1: the theme parks. That would be kind of weird, I
- 22:02Speaker 1: feel like, but you never know what they're thinking.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Hopefully that and I we'll see and I hope too,
- 22:09Speaker 3: like whoever ends up getting cast that like there isn't
- 22:12Speaker 3: just like a very quick like comparison either, Like I
- 22:15Speaker 3: think it's not necessarily fair to like these new kids
- 22:18Speaker 3: coming in to be immediately compared to Dan, like Rupert
- 22:22Speaker 3: and Emma, and I think it's going to happen. Unfortunately.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it's bound to happen, for sure. I feel like
- 22:29Speaker 5: they're going to be always living under the shadow of them,
- 22:34Speaker 5: not because they're bad or because they're not up to expectations,
- 22:37Speaker 5: but because it was so these films were so iconic,
- 22:42Speaker 5: and people just have such a strong image of what
- 22:48Speaker 5: they see as a trio that it's going to be
- 22:51Speaker 5: hard for them to be like, Okay, you're you know,
- 22:54Speaker 5: like you're you're always going to live under their shadow
- 22:57Speaker 5: just because it's it's hard, and it's it all always
- 23:00Speaker 5: happens in this media, and it's and it's you know,
- 23:03Speaker 5: it's bound to happen. But if they can pull it
- 23:06Speaker 5: out well and they can kind of like do it
- 23:08Speaker 5: and try to separate them like you like you guys said,
- 23:11Speaker 5: and try to keep them as separate entities, I think
- 23:15Speaker 5: it can.
- 23:16Speaker 2: It can work.
- 23:16Speaker 5: And I and I would actually like this to be
- 23:19Speaker 5: like a complete reboot in that sense, and to be
- 23:22Speaker 5: like completely faithful to the books, not just in the storyline,
- 23:26Speaker 5: but also esthetically, you know, so kind of like maybe
- 23:30Speaker 5: built you know, bring a newcastle, bring a youth set,
- 23:33Speaker 5: bring new costumes, bring you you know, to have its
- 23:35Speaker 5: own thing. Otherwise it's going to be like a copycat
- 23:38Speaker 5: version of the films, and I don't think that's the plan.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I think they want to do something you know, new
- 23:44Speaker 5: and exciting and just bring different iterations of the of
- 23:49Speaker 5: this world to life, like they did in Curse Child.
- 23:52Speaker 5: And maybe that's what they're planning to do.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well, I mean we'll see and definitely more
- 23:59Speaker 3: to come with it. But for sure, even just having
- 24:02Speaker 3: this casting call coming out, like we said, clearly shows
- 24:06Speaker 3: we're going forward with this and hopefully pretty quickly. And yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 3: I'll keep my eyes out for when they start, you know,
- 24:14Speaker 3: showing who they have. And I'm excited, but I definitely
- 24:17Speaker 3: still have you know, obviously have some reservations as well,
- 24:20Speaker 3: you know, right along with what you said, Tom, But
- 24:24Speaker 3: but yeah, so that's exciting. That's probably the bit of
- 24:27Speaker 3: news I'm most excited for too. But I'm also really
- 24:30Speaker 3: excited for the Little Christmas Book too. It sounds really
- 24:33Speaker 3: cute and I love a good coffee table book, and
- 24:36Speaker 3: any new artwork is great too, so but yeah, so
- 24:41Speaker 3: that is that wraps up the news for now. I
- 24:45Speaker 3: think that going forward, hopefully this section won't be this long.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Okay, So for our main discussion for this episode, we're
- 24:58Speaker 1: going to be talking about everything we know about the
- 25:00Speaker 1: Wizarding World section of Epic Universe at Universal Orlando. So
- 25:07Speaker 1: we got a lot of info dumped on us this
- 25:11Speaker 1: summer about this, which is great. It's great content, not complaining.
- 25:19Speaker 1: But this park is set to open in twenty twenty five,
- 25:22Speaker 1: so I'm sure we're gonna get a lot more too
- 25:25Speaker 1: in the coming months. My guess they haven't said officially win,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but my guess would probably be like summer, that seems
- 25:33Speaker 1: to be the time to open up things in Orlando.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Very universal timing.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, even though it's ungodly hot, but.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I just got flashed back. So standing on that
- 25:46Speaker 3: bridge for eight hours waiting to ryde Hagrid's and was
- 25:50Speaker 3: it July but yeah June June, yeah, yeah, but it
- 25:55Speaker 3: felt like it shouldly because it was hot, Yeah, but no,
- 25:58Speaker 3: I would agree that it seems like probably summer makes sense,
- 26:03Speaker 3: and it makes the most sense too, because that's when
- 26:07Speaker 3: you're gonna get like your crowds, right, like, you don't
- 26:09Speaker 3: have to kind of battle school schedules and all of that,
- 26:12Speaker 3: and a lot of people already travel a lot in
- 26:15Speaker 3: the summer, so that makes sense.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: So this park, Epic Universe is the start of what's
- 26:25Speaker 1: being referred to as South Campus at Universal Orlando, and
- 26:30Speaker 1: that's because this is on a patch of land that
- 26:34Speaker 1: was acquired by Universal about fifteen minutes from what's now
- 26:38Speaker 1: going to be North Campus, which is the three existing
- 26:42Speaker 1: parks and Universal hotels in Orlando right now. So I'm
- 26:50Speaker 1: sure it'll be you know, the shuttle buses going between
- 26:54Speaker 1: all of that. But there's also going to be the
- 26:56Speaker 1: hotel at Epic Universe as well. So if that's like
- 26:59Speaker 1: the main place that you're going to be, then maybe
- 27:02Speaker 1: you want to stay at the hotel there.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I think that's really cool. I love that. I know,
- 27:09Speaker 3: like in I believe it's like Tokyo Disney or one
- 27:12Speaker 3: of the Asian Disney parks. They have the very similar
- 27:14Speaker 3: where they have like a hotel that's right in the park,
- 27:18Speaker 3: and I think that's really cool to just kind of
- 27:21Speaker 3: be like right in that environment and just be able
- 27:22Speaker 3: to kind of like step right out of your hotel
- 27:24Speaker 3: and you're right in the park and in the environment.
- 27:26Speaker 3: It just even makes it more immersive, I think.
- 27:29Speaker 5: I mean, speaking of immersive, are we getting perhaps a
- 27:34Speaker 5: theme hotel or something like?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Is this one?
- 27:37Speaker 3: Is it the called the Helios Hotel? Is that what
- 27:40Speaker 3: they're calling it? And it looks like it I wish
- 27:44Speaker 3: that we're going to do. Maybe it looks like it's
- 27:47Speaker 3: kind of a little separate, but it's going to be
- 27:50Speaker 3: this very like majestic kind of theme, like luxurious, and
- 27:53Speaker 3: it's going to be a Greek god theme, which seems
- 27:56Speaker 3: like it ties right into that celestial park area that
- 27:59Speaker 3: you kind of go right into. So that's really cool.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But yeah, that'd be cool if like eventually they even
- 28:07Speaker 3: expanded it more and had like a Harry Potter themed one,
- 28:11Speaker 3: you know, off of off of that era. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I want that. I would stay there. Who cares how
- 28:22Speaker 3: much it is, I would do it, I say that,
- 28:25Speaker 3: But you know, I never got to go to the
- 28:28Speaker 3: quote unquote Star Wars Hotel because it was so expensive.
- 28:31Speaker 3: So that makes me a little nervous that if they
- 28:33Speaker 3: were to do something like that that it would be
- 28:34Speaker 3: really expensive. But yeah, it kind of seems like almost
- 28:37Speaker 3: like the way that the land is, that like they
- 28:39Speaker 3: might have that extra space like around the kind of perimeter. Yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 3: so you never know if they want to end up
- 28:47Speaker 3: adding more hotel space.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I mean, there's definitely still a lot of land unused,
- 28:53Speaker 1: so they've got room to expand. And I think they
- 28:55Speaker 1: would even have room to make separate parks too, So
- 28:59Speaker 1: just like they have studios and islands and yeah, Volcano Bay,
- 29:05Speaker 1: they could probably put other parks over there too.
- 29:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it surprisingly haven't opened like Harry Potter themed hotel
- 29:15Speaker 5: yet after how long has it been has it been
- 29:17Speaker 5: like fourteen years now since the first one opened? Yeah,
- 29:22Speaker 5: fourteen years.
- 29:26Speaker 1: So Epic Universe is going to be the first universal
- 29:30Speaker 1: park to use the spoken wheel layout that was made
- 29:33Speaker 1: popular by Disney. The park is comprised of four different lands,
- 29:40Speaker 1: which are all accessible from the center hub, which is
- 29:43Speaker 1: called Celestial Park.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I like that. I like and it'll be nice too
- 29:50Speaker 3: because obviously, you know, as a bad Disney theme park fan,
- 29:54Speaker 3: I think that that layout of something like you know,
- 29:58Speaker 3: like Magic Kingdom, where you have your main hub area
- 30:01Speaker 3: and then you've got these lands that go across around.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I think it's a really good layout for a park,
- 30:07Speaker 3: and obviously, yeah, very different from what we have at
- 30:10Speaker 3: Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yes, And it's interesting because onlike Magic Kingdom, you can't
- 30:21Speaker 1: really access the other lands by like walking in a
- 30:24Speaker 1: circle outside of the hub, Like you can't like walk
- 30:27Speaker 1: from Wizarding World into Dark Universe, like you have to
- 30:31Speaker 1: go back to Celestial Park and then go to another section.
- 30:37Speaker 3: I think that'll be good for immersion too, because I
- 30:39Speaker 3: think of, like I just was picturing like when we're
- 30:42Speaker 3: at the park Amy and we've got to like walk
- 30:44Speaker 3: through like Sous's landing, yeah, to get to you know,
- 30:48Speaker 3: to get to Hogs and it kind of just like
- 30:50Speaker 3: throws you off a little bit. And then you also, right,
- 30:53Speaker 3: you also are like standing there looking at Hogwarts. But
- 30:57Speaker 3: then like Jurassic Park is right there, and you walk
- 31:00Speaker 3: in a glassic park, you can still see Hogwarts. And
- 31:03Speaker 3: then once Veloca Coaster open, forget that nice little sitting
- 31:07Speaker 3: area you know behind the three broomsticks, you're just watching
- 31:10Speaker 3: the Veloca coaster and it kind of took away some
- 31:13Speaker 3: of the immersion a little bit when you're on the
- 31:16Speaker 3: outside borders.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. So Orlando and Former actually in one
- 31:23Speaker 1: of their articles was talking about this a little bit too,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and they compared it to how diagon Alley is like that,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and that it's fully immersed and you can't access like
- 31:33Speaker 1: there's no shortcuts through to the other lands. You have
- 31:36Speaker 1: to go out of diagon Alley into London and then
- 31:40Speaker 1: move on from there, so which I think is why
- 31:43Speaker 1: diagon Alley is like my favorite out of diagon Alley
- 31:47Speaker 1: in Hogsweede because it does have that feeling of that
- 31:50Speaker 1: full immersion in the world. So I think that'll be
- 31:53Speaker 1: really good. So to enter each land, you go through
- 31:57Speaker 1: a portal off of the the hub Celestial Park, and
- 32:03Speaker 1: these portals are these really beautiful, like heavily designed archways
- 32:08Speaker 1: that are topped with different beacons that have to do
- 32:11Speaker 1: with the land that you're entering. Those beacons can be
- 32:15Speaker 1: seen from across the hubs so that you can navigate
- 32:20Speaker 1: your way around to where you're trying to go. The
- 32:22Speaker 1: one for the Wizarding World is this giant hand holding
- 32:26Speaker 1: the elderland.
- 32:29Speaker 3: I think it looks so cool. Yeah, I have nothing
- 32:35Speaker 3: else to say about that. I think the concept art
- 32:38Speaker 3: we saw look so cool, and I know that it
- 32:41Speaker 3: will look cool in person. And I think what they
- 32:44Speaker 3: chose to be the beacon for you know, this land
- 32:48Speaker 3: is perfect, like the whole hand holding a wand I
- 32:51Speaker 3: just love that visual in general, and yeah, it's so cool.
- 32:57Speaker 1: The Wizarding portion of the park is officially titled The
- 33:00Speaker 1: Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic, which is
- 33:05Speaker 1: after the area's biggest ride, the Ministry of Magic Ride. Uh.
- 33:10Speaker 1: It is interesting that they didn't name, uh, this location
- 33:14Speaker 1: after Paris because it was Paris and they named it
- 33:18Speaker 1: after the ride instead, So that's kind of odd, I thought.
- 33:22Speaker 2: But yeah, marketing, I agree.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's like, I mean, it's like you would
- 33:27Speaker 3: never call like diagon Alley like Gringods, right, just you
- 33:33Speaker 3: know what I mean. I think it's weird. I think
- 33:34Speaker 3: that like maybe it kind of like lends to the
- 33:38Speaker 3: fact that maybe the area should have maybe more been
- 33:42Speaker 3: like the that was not good English, but you know,
- 33:47Speaker 3: like should have been more like Ministry of Magic, like
- 33:51Speaker 3: but that there wasn't enough to like do a full
- 33:54Speaker 3: land of that where like, obviously this Paris theme can
- 33:58Speaker 3: be extended more and you can that into a land.
- 34:01Speaker 3: But I think that like Wizarding Paris is not like
- 34:05Speaker 3: I guess, right, what would you call it other than
- 34:08Speaker 3: calling it Paris. There's not like a specific name like
- 34:12Speaker 3: you can do diegon Ellie or Hogsmead. So it's like
- 34:14Speaker 3: you almost need to have a name that's recognizable to
- 34:18Speaker 3: the franchise, and I don't think there's something for Paris
- 34:23Speaker 3: that is like that. So I see why from like
- 34:26Speaker 3: a marketing standpoint, exactly like you said, Tom, like on
- 34:29Speaker 3: a map, and you know you want it to be
- 34:32Speaker 3: recognizable in ministry of Magic works. But it does seem like, yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 3: exactly what you said, Amy, It's like the bulk of
- 34:39Speaker 3: the land is actually being more in Paris wizarding Paris,
- 34:44Speaker 3: than it is kind of being in the ministry. But yeah, it's.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Interesting, by the way.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Yeah, the city, like what they're doing for Paris, Like
- 34:52Speaker 5: it's huge and it's so detailed, Like what could you expect,
- 34:57Speaker 5: Like Universal never disappoints with details.
- 34:59Speaker 2: They're all it and I know they will not disappoint
- 35:03Speaker 2: at all.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. It's enormous, like one of the quotes
- 35:07Speaker 1: that stood out to me from the announcement video that
- 35:10Speaker 1: we got was the shortest building in Wizarding Paris is
- 35:14Speaker 1: taller than the tallest building in diagon Alley. So these
- 35:19Speaker 1: buildings are massive.
- 35:21Speaker 3: That's like so insane too, because kind of like what
- 35:23Speaker 3: you were talking about earlier is like one of the
- 35:25Speaker 3: best things about Diagon Alley is how immersive that land
- 35:29Speaker 3: is and like how they were able to build it,
- 35:32Speaker 3: and when you're in there, like you don't feel like
- 35:35Speaker 3: you're anywhere else right, Like there's no sight line of
- 35:38Speaker 3: any other area of the park, and so it's it's
- 35:42Speaker 3: so yeah, I can't even wrap my heat around standing
- 35:45Speaker 3: in an area you know, of a theme park that
- 35:49Speaker 3: has buildings taller than how it is in diagon Alley already,
- 35:53Speaker 3: especially when you think of how they built Gringotts and
- 35:57Speaker 3: that whole section and having the dragon on and just
- 36:01Speaker 3: it's such a looming building and so big, and to
- 36:04Speaker 3: think that we're going to have even bigger than that,
- 36:07Speaker 3: it is so crazy but so exciting at the same time.
- 36:12Speaker 1: It really is just a full on city. It's so cool.
- 36:18Speaker 1: So this section of the park is recreated nineteen twenties
- 36:24Speaker 1: Wizarding Paris as we see it in the Fantastic Beast films,
- 36:28Speaker 1: but it also jumps timelines in the Ministry of Magic Ride,
- 36:32Speaker 1: which we're going to talk about in a minute. But
- 36:36Speaker 1: how this is kind of laid out is once you
- 36:40Speaker 1: walk through that portal that we talked about, guests go
- 36:44Speaker 1: and they're in Muggle Paris, and then there's the archway
- 36:50Speaker 1: with the phoenix on it that we see in Crimes
- 36:54Speaker 1: of Grendewald that Tina goes through, and you go through
- 36:58Speaker 1: that archway and then you're and Wizarding Paris. So it's
- 37:05Speaker 1: pretty cool that we're actually getting Fantastic Beasts stuff and
- 37:10Speaker 1: like locations in the park, which I'm excited about because
- 37:14Speaker 1: everyone knows I love those movies. But it's just really
- 37:19Speaker 1: cool we're gonna get some of these locations. Like the
- 37:22Speaker 1: concept art shows that little like elevator thing with like
- 37:25Speaker 1: the vines and the metal detailing that Queenie goes into
- 37:30Speaker 1: to get to the Paris Ministry, so it looks kind
- 37:34Speaker 1: of like the photo op like the phone booth that
- 37:37Speaker 1: they have in London outside of diegott Alley. So just
- 37:41Speaker 1: little details like that I'm really excited about.
- 37:44Speaker 5: And hopefully that will also bring back some of the
- 37:46Speaker 5: high before the series, because I feel like it's Fantastic
- 37:52Speaker 5: Beasts was kind of like overlooked by so many and maybe,
- 37:57Speaker 5: you know, it can give it a little boost and
- 38:00Speaker 5: who knows, maybe we get a fourth film eventually.
- 38:03Speaker 3: I mean, the.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Harry Potters Sessions of Universal, I feel like really helped
- 38:09Speaker 1: in capturing a new audience of people who went to
- 38:13Speaker 1: the parks and maybe hadn't read the books or watched
- 38:16Speaker 1: the movies. They either watched the movies in preparation for
- 38:20Speaker 1: their trip, or they left the parks and were inspired
- 38:24Speaker 1: to pick up the books or watch the movies. So yeah,
- 38:27Speaker 1: I'm hoping this kind of does the same for the
- 38:30Speaker 1: Fantastic East series as well.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I mean not to bring up Death Eater, thirst Trap
- 38:35Speaker 3: Tiktoks again, but I will say that, like in a
- 38:40Speaker 3: lot of the comments of those videos, like a lot
- 38:42Speaker 3: of people are like, you know, I've never been a
- 38:45Speaker 3: Universal before, but this makes me want to go. So
- 38:50Speaker 3: I feel like, yes, like I feel like there is.
- 38:52Speaker 3: It's the one thing that's so great about the way
- 38:54Speaker 3: they do these parks and the things they do in
- 38:57Speaker 3: these parks is it makes you interested in something that
- 39:01Speaker 3: maybe wouldn't have otherwise been, you know, or makes you
- 39:06Speaker 3: want to go and revisit, or like, how am I
- 39:09Speaker 3: going to understand what's happening on the ride in the
- 39:12Speaker 3: Wizarding World if I don't watch the movies first, right, Like,
- 39:16Speaker 3: I think it's just it is this like symbiotic relationship
- 39:19Speaker 3: a little bit. Or also it's like you have people
- 39:21Speaker 3: that decide to just go to Universal, like as part
- 39:24Speaker 3: of a vacation, step into the Wizarding World areas, see
- 39:28Speaker 3: how absolutely amazingly cool it is, and then are inspired
- 39:32Speaker 3: to go read the books or watch the movies or whatever.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And so I agree, like, and I think we always
- 39:38Speaker 3: like feel like when we found out that a Universal
- 39:41Speaker 3: was going to open, you know, this new park, there
- 39:43Speaker 3: was always kind of that speculation that the new like
- 39:46Speaker 3: obviously they were going to put Wizarding World in this
- 39:49Speaker 3: new park, and there was always like that speculation of
- 39:52Speaker 3: it being Fantastic Beasts, especially because everything was kind of
- 39:55Speaker 3: announced when you know, Fantastic Beasts, we were getting all
- 39:58Speaker 3: of that, So we like, I feel like we knew
- 40:00Speaker 3: we were going to get something. I'm glad that even
- 40:03Speaker 3: with the Fantastic Beast franchise kind of maybe not taking
- 40:07Speaker 3: off the way that it was planned. I'm glad they're
- 40:10Speaker 3: still sticking to the idea of keeping this Fantastic Beast themed,
- 40:14Speaker 3: and I agree, like, I really hope it like rejuvenates
- 40:17Speaker 3: that a little bit. And I think one of the
- 40:19Speaker 3: things that like Universal has done best when it comes
- 40:22Speaker 3: to especially the Wizarding World areas, is recreating places that
- 40:26Speaker 3: like we know about, and so like it's I'm glad
- 40:32Speaker 3: that they're still kind of sticking with that in terms
- 40:35Speaker 3: of like how you were talking about literally recreating these
- 40:38Speaker 3: things that we saw in the film, because I truly
- 40:40Speaker 3: think like that's what Universal like does best and that's
- 40:43Speaker 3: what really separates them, and so I kind of like
- 40:47Speaker 3: didn't expect to know anything less from them with this.
- 40:50Speaker 3: But yeah, it's definitely really great to see that the
- 40:52Speaker 3: focus is still going to be so much on kind
- 40:55Speaker 3: of more that Fantastic Beast era. I do have some
- 40:59Speaker 3: like questions about the like time jump kind of thing,
- 41:04Speaker 3: but I think that I'm glad that it's still, yeah,
- 41:08Speaker 3: that Fantastic Beast world kind of focused and we didn't
- 41:10Speaker 3: lose that.
- 41:11Speaker 2: M maybe you get a Chris Child crossover with.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Just throw it all in there.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the multi Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 3: I mean, look how successful it's been for like Marvel, Right,
- 41:30Speaker 3: it's we're just gonna have We're gonna have the Worsening
- 41:32Speaker 3: World multiverse happening here.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Yeah, just like the other Wizardian World parks, there's going
- 41:41Speaker 1: to be these interactive wand spots throughout this land, and
- 41:47Speaker 1: it looks like a lot of them really feature magical
- 41:50Speaker 1: creatures I love so much. The one that we saw
- 41:54Speaker 1: in the video was the Niffler, which I love my Nifflers.
- 41:59Speaker 1: So this is so cy Like I love this. You
- 42:00Speaker 1: can walk around, find all the wand spots, maybe discover
- 42:04Speaker 1: a bunch of the creatures. So this just looks like
- 42:06Speaker 1: a lot of fun.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I'm glad that like they're they're keeping this in because
- 42:10Speaker 3: it's like even with how many years that the parks
- 42:13Speaker 3: have been open now, like people still love that, right,
- 42:18Speaker 3: Like you go to the parks and everybody is doing
- 42:21Speaker 3: magic and it's just such a fun experience still for people.
- 42:26Speaker 3: It never got boring, you know. I feel like for
- 42:29Speaker 3: people and I like that it's like, Okay, we're still
- 42:32Speaker 3: going to keep this aspect, but like give it a
- 42:34Speaker 3: kind of a new twist. And it's so themed with
- 42:36Speaker 3: what you know, what's going on in that land with
- 42:39Speaker 3: fantastic beasts, and it's just yeah, it's just such a
- 42:43Speaker 3: great idea.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, I do.
- 42:46Speaker 5: I do hate though, that they replaced ones for interactive
- 42:50Speaker 5: ones all the way through, so you can't get anything
- 42:54Speaker 5: else than an interactive one. I'm like, no, I want
- 42:56Speaker 5: one for my collection. I don't want that tip, you know, Like,
- 43:00Speaker 5: so it's yeah, that's that's the only thing I want them.
- 43:03Speaker 5: They should definitely take notes on that and be like, hey,
- 43:05Speaker 5: we should probably go back to selling like old school
- 43:08Speaker 5: ones again and personalized ones please.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, because I used to always get just a
- 43:15Speaker 1: regular one, not the interactive ones, and I would always
- 43:18Speaker 1: write on the bottom of the wand box like the
- 43:21Speaker 1: date and where I got it, so it's like a
- 43:23Speaker 1: little memento from different trips.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I wonder if maybe I know that they just like
- 43:28Speaker 3: I don't know if this is new, but I saw
- 43:30Speaker 3: recently that you can have your wands personalized at like
- 43:33Speaker 3: the Harry Potter and New York shop, and I think
- 43:36Speaker 3: when you order online as well, So maybe this is
- 43:39Speaker 3: like a start of like this is something that could
- 43:41Speaker 3: eventually come universal maybe Warner Brothers Universal. If you're listening,
- 43:51Speaker 3: you've got three people right here that would buy.
- 43:53Speaker 1: That we'd travel so fast about our first episode that
- 43:57Speaker 1: Warner Brothers in the Universal had to tune in for episode.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Of course, as soon as they hear we're talking about
- 44:03Speaker 3: their park.
- 44:04Speaker 1: I mean, so the main ride of this section is
- 44:12Speaker 1: that Ministry of Magic ride. So it's Harry Potter in
- 44:15Speaker 1: the battle at the Ministry and it's based in a
- 44:19Speaker 1: post deathly Hallow's timeline where Umbradge is on trial for
- 44:23Speaker 1: her crimes during the war, So major time jump. Curious
- 44:27Speaker 1: to see how that works?
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because it's not like it's not like we're
- 44:33Speaker 3: I mean, and it's it's funny because obviously we have
- 44:36Speaker 3: time travel, you know in the Worstering World universe with
- 44:39Speaker 3: time turners and stuff. So it's like, I feel like
- 44:41Speaker 3: there is ways that you could, like in universe explain
- 44:44Speaker 3: why there's this time jump, and it looks like that's
- 44:46Speaker 3: not like what's going to happen here. But I mean,
- 44:51Speaker 3: I guess, is there anything happening in the Paris section
- 44:55Speaker 3: that would make us feel like we're not in that
- 44:57Speaker 3: same timeline? O? Than like, well, I mean, we talked
- 45:02Speaker 3: last week about I guess like like Eddie is going
- 45:04Speaker 3: to come back to like reprise new in some ways,
- 45:07Speaker 3: So I guess maybe that right there is kind of
- 45:10Speaker 3: like how we're staying in that same you're having different timelines.
- 45:15Speaker 1: And they do say in that video that it is
- 45:17Speaker 1: different times, a different timeline, So I don't know how
- 45:21Speaker 1: they're dealing with that or if it's just like a
- 45:23Speaker 1: suspend your disbelief thing and just accepted a cool ride.
- 45:27Speaker 5: I don't know, maybe a portal, because it's all about
- 45:31Speaker 5: portals over there, so who knows.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Maybe well, And I.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Know that they're because they're bringing like you know, the
- 45:40Speaker 3: whole like having like the flu network into entering them.
- 45:45Speaker 3: You know, that's how that's essentially how you're being transported
- 45:48Speaker 3: from the Paris area to being at the British Ministry
- 45:53Speaker 3: of Magic. But then at the same time, like I mean, yeah,
- 45:57Speaker 3: that would be to throw in like, oh, you're also
- 45:59Speaker 3: traveling in time, like that's like adding a whole like
- 46:01Speaker 3: new Cannon to using flud powder. So yeah, I mean, obviously,
- 46:06Speaker 3: like they're aware of the fact that we're jumping timeline,
- 46:10Speaker 3: so it's clearly something they've thought about and hopefully have
- 46:15Speaker 3: thought that, Like, there are some pretty die hard fans
- 46:18Speaker 3: out there that are going to have questions about how
- 46:21Speaker 3: we're jumping timelines there, so hopefully we'll kind of get
- 46:24Speaker 3: more about that. But I mean, I think either way,
- 46:27Speaker 3: it's exciting to have to see the British Ministry of
- 46:31Speaker 3: Magic because to me, that was always the next thing
- 46:36Speaker 3: that they should build, you know, after they did Hogwarts,
- 46:39Speaker 3: after they did Gringotts, Like that's such an iconic film set,
- 46:43Speaker 3: and it just made so much sense, and I think
- 46:45Speaker 3: it makes more sense to I am glad they're adding it,
- 46:48Speaker 3: and they didn't just decide to do like the Paris
- 46:51Speaker 3: Ministry of Magic, because we don't have as much like
- 46:56Speaker 3: nostalgic ties to you know, other ministries of magic. So
- 47:02Speaker 3: I'm glad they still found a way to like weave
- 47:05Speaker 3: that in as well. And we did find out too.
- 47:10Speaker 3: We talked in our first episode that we weren't sure
- 47:12Speaker 3: on the Famelda was going to be coming back to
- 47:14Speaker 3: reprise her role as Umbridge, but we got confirmation in
- 47:18Speaker 3: that showcase that she is, which is so exciting because yeah,
- 47:24Speaker 3: like we said last week, she's great and I couldn't
- 47:27Speaker 3: imagine having anybody else playing umbridge.
- 47:31Speaker 2: She's looking amazing.
- 47:32Speaker 5: She looks like straight up, like what happens right?
- 47:38Speaker 3: Where is she has? She has a time turner? Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 3: she looks great. Yeah, you would never know any time
- 47:46Speaker 3: has passed. And yeah, and they had confirmation we'll have
- 47:50Speaker 3: lots of cat plates, which is great, lots of pink,
- 47:56Speaker 3: I'm sure.
- 47:59Speaker 1: So.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: You mentioned how guests are supposed to enter this ride
- 48:03Speaker 1: queue is through the Flu network, and they actually built
- 48:08Speaker 1: this whole thing called metro Flu, which is public transportation,
- 48:12Speaker 1: this mass transit system of the Flu network, which I
- 48:15Speaker 1: think is awesome. And Universal creatives say they collaborated with
- 48:20Speaker 1: the filmmakers to come up with how this was going
- 48:23Speaker 1: to look and how it was going to work. And
- 48:26Speaker 1: I'm so excited for this because it sounds like there's
- 48:29Speaker 1: some sort of special effects going on when you walk
- 48:32Speaker 1: into that fireplace.
- 48:34Speaker 2: One of the.
- 48:34Speaker 1: People in the video from Universal was saying, you get
- 48:38Speaker 1: fully engulfed in the flames as you walk through, So like,
- 48:42Speaker 1: I want to know how this is going to work,
- 48:44Speaker 1: and I'm kind of excited.
- 48:46Speaker 3: It sounds so cool and yet so terrified too.
- 48:53Speaker 1: So once you are through the Flue network, the ride
- 48:57Speaker 1: cue journeys through the British Ministry of Magic. We see
- 49:01Speaker 1: recreations of the film sets with the statue of Magical
- 49:05Speaker 1: Brethren and the lobby of the Ministry. We also go
- 49:08Speaker 1: through a locker room where we're going to see Harry,
- 49:11Speaker 1: Ronn and Neville's lockers because this is at the time
- 49:15Speaker 1: that they're training as orrs at the Ministry. And there's
- 49:19Speaker 1: also a room full of portraits of past ministers throughout
- 49:22Speaker 1: history that are all talking to each other, so kind
- 49:25Speaker 1: of like the portrait room in Hogwarts that you walk
- 49:30Speaker 1: through in that queue. And then you're going to walk
- 49:33Speaker 1: through Umbridge's office too, which is where all the cat
- 49:36Speaker 1: plates are going to be in all the pink.
- 49:40Speaker 2: I guess.
- 49:41Speaker 1: You meet a house elf named Higgldy in Umbridge's office
- 49:46Speaker 1: and Higgldy comes along with you on this journey as well.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Once you go through Umbridge's office, you are going to
- 49:55Speaker 1: board elevators, which we know Universal loves to use elevators
- 49:59Speaker 1: to break up ride que yes, but it's actually the
- 50:02Speaker 1: ride system for this one, so curveball, and once you're
- 50:07Speaker 1: in the elevator you find out that Umbrage is attempting
- 50:10Speaker 1: to escape her trial that's going on, So that's what
- 50:15Speaker 1: launches this ride off. And knowing how those elevators move
- 50:22Speaker 1: in the books and movies, that's absolutely terrifying to me
- 50:26Speaker 1: because these are just going to move in like whatever direction.
- 50:30Speaker 1: But I'm going to suffer through and I'm going to
- 50:32Speaker 1: get on the ride no matter what, because that's what
- 50:35Speaker 1: I do for these rides.
- 50:37Speaker 3: It's like a Tower of Terror on steroids.
- 50:44Speaker 5: I mean, I hope there's more movement than just going
- 50:46Speaker 5: up and down, like you know these sudden falls. I
- 50:49Speaker 5: hope it's kind of like you know how it feels
- 50:51Speaker 5: like when you go to Gringock. Then you know there's
- 50:53Speaker 5: kind of like this fall where you feel like, oh
- 50:55Speaker 5: my god, I'm I'm about to you know, fall through
- 50:58Speaker 5: this whole like.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Underground thingy going on.
- 51:04Speaker 5: And you get like, oh my god, and so it's
- 51:07Speaker 5: kind of like it's it's it's I feel like it
- 51:09Speaker 5: could be similar to that in some ways. I don't
- 51:13Speaker 5: know if it's just going to be like a drop
- 51:15Speaker 5: down or if it's just going to also move sideways
- 51:19Speaker 5: as well.
- 51:20Speaker 3: It'll be interesting once we see the ride vehicles. I
- 51:23Speaker 3: was gonna say, I think it'll be like every direction
- 51:25Speaker 3: and kind of like what the what the mechanism like
- 51:28Speaker 3: Whenever we get to see like the mechanism of the ride,
- 51:33Speaker 3: that will kind of I think, really, how like is
- 51:35Speaker 3: it going to be or is it going to be
- 51:37Speaker 3: almost like coaster like but you're in a but the
- 51:42Speaker 3: vehicle that you're in is like elevator like but you're
- 51:46Speaker 3: technically maybe on a track like a coaster track, or
- 51:50Speaker 3: will it be similar to that, Like the name of
- 51:54Speaker 3: it is escaping me. But the type of like claw
- 51:57Speaker 3: mechanism that they use for Forbidden Journey where you kind
- 52:01Speaker 3: of get to move, they can kind of you know
- 52:03Speaker 3: what I mean, They can spin you, it can tip
- 52:05Speaker 3: you back, it kind of it just allows the ride
- 52:09Speaker 3: vehicle to move any which way and then maybe also
- 52:12Speaker 3: can move forward and back. Like I think there's a
- 52:14Speaker 3: lot of really cool things that they can do with it,
- 52:18Speaker 3: and I don't think it'll be like just a traditional
- 52:21Speaker 3: quote unquote elevator type ride.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Yeah, m hm, yeah, I agree, definitely.
- 52:30Speaker 3: But definitely terrifying because I mean exactly how right, because
- 52:34Speaker 3: we have like visuals right like you said in the film,
- 52:38Speaker 3: and you know of what that looks like, and I
- 52:42Speaker 3: feel like, you know, at Universal we're all about trying
- 52:45Speaker 3: to kind of recreate what is shown in the film.
- 52:48Speaker 3: So yeah, it's a little terrifying. I will, but I
- 52:52Speaker 3: will pop a drama mean and uh suffer through it
- 52:56Speaker 3: for the experience.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so we know we're getting umbrage in this ride.
- 53:05Speaker 1: We know we've got this house elf named Haiggledy. Apparently
- 53:10Speaker 1: we're also joined by Harry Ron and Hermione. I don't
- 53:15Speaker 1: know how this is going to work because I don't
- 53:17Speaker 1: imagine the actors are going to be back for this
- 53:21Speaker 1: since they weren't for other rides, So they're probably just
- 53:26Speaker 1: going to do their magic and do like projections of
- 53:29Speaker 1: them and fake the voices, I guess. So besides that
- 53:35Speaker 1: big ride, which is like the main attraction of this world,
- 53:39Speaker 1: the second attraction within Wizarding Paris is Circus Anarchists, which
- 53:46Speaker 1: is a full scale stage show based off the circus
- 53:49Speaker 1: that we see in Crems of Grindewald. And apparently the
- 53:53Speaker 1: plot of this is that Skender, who is like the
- 53:56Speaker 1: ringmaster guy that we see in that movie, is attempting
- 54:00Speaker 1: to save his dying circus, and he steals Newt's case
- 54:04Speaker 1: full of beasts to use in his show and the
- 54:07Speaker 1: show contains aerial performers, special effects, and puppetry.
- 54:15Speaker 3: This is really exciting because I think that one, I
- 54:18Speaker 3: just love when theme parks do shows in general, and
- 54:23Speaker 3: you know, I think that this will be We obviously
- 54:27Speaker 3: have shows in the other Wizarding World sections, but this
- 54:32Speaker 3: is just seems like it's going to be a totally
- 54:34Speaker 3: different scale and taking like that to the next level,
- 54:38Speaker 3: which is so exciting. And I love the circus scene
- 54:43Speaker 3: in Crimes ofgrin Evault as well, and it just I
- 54:45Speaker 3: think that it always would have lend itself, lended itself
- 54:48Speaker 3: well to translating into a theme park type experience. So
- 54:54Speaker 3: it's really just I think it's really just perfect.
- 54:57Speaker 5: Yeah, they're kind of tapping into it and just further
- 55:02Speaker 5: exploring what that circus was about. Because we only got
- 55:06Speaker 5: like very small bits of it. It was kind of
- 55:08Speaker 5: like almost a blink and you'll miss a moment, so
- 55:11Speaker 5: we don't. It doesn't really have much of a prominent
- 55:15Speaker 5: presence in the film, so it's kind of interesting to
- 55:18Speaker 5: see how they can further expand it and we can
- 55:21Speaker 5: see how this circus works at full scale.
- 55:24Speaker 2: I think it's going to be pretty interesting.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I really want like a big full scale Zou puppet.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I'm just picturing how amazing that could look.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Well, And I wonder too, like what you know, bringing
- 55:45Speaker 3: the beast to life will be, you know, what will
- 55:48Speaker 3: be like puppet, what might be animatronic, what might be
- 55:53Speaker 3: like a CGI kind of thing. There's like so many
- 55:57Speaker 3: different like types of mediums that they can use here
- 55:59Speaker 3: and mix of them, so it'll be really interesting to
- 56:02Speaker 3: see kind of just yeah, how they put it, how
- 56:05Speaker 3: they put it all together. And I'm always I'm somebody
- 56:10Speaker 3: that loves animatronics, so I really hope that like we
- 56:13Speaker 3: do get some you know, I think of like, you know,
- 56:15Speaker 3: the blast ended screw andtronic that we got for Hagrids
- 56:18Speaker 3: and how cool that is. And so I think they've
- 56:20Speaker 3: shown that they can do these you know, magical creature
- 56:26Speaker 3: type animatronics, and so I think, yeah, there's a lot
- 56:30Speaker 3: that could that could happen here.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. So besides our main attractions, there's several confirmed
- 56:40Speaker 1: shops in restaurants within this area as well, and we
- 56:44Speaker 1: got a lot of concept art for several of these.
- 56:48Speaker 1: So we know that bar Moonshine is going to be
- 56:52Speaker 1: offering alcoholic drinks so that's kind of like the hogshead
- 56:56Speaker 1: of Wizarding Paris. I am not gonna be able to
- 57:01Speaker 1: say the French version of butterbeer cart like bear a
- 57:08Speaker 1: bear cart. I don't know that doesn't can attend to that,
- 57:12Speaker 1: but but there will be a butter beer cart. Cafe
- 57:20Speaker 1: Lair de la Serne is a quick service which is
- 57:25Speaker 1: offering French baked goods, sandwiches and drinks. And this looks
- 57:30Speaker 1: so gorgeous the inside concept art of this. It's got
- 57:36Speaker 1: all of these beautiful details in the architecture and in
- 57:39Speaker 1: the artwork on the walls and apparently fantastic beasts are
- 57:44Speaker 1: like worked into the decorations of the building.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Which is okay, super cool.
- 57:50Speaker 3: I love this because it's such I think, like looking
- 57:52Speaker 3: at the concept art, it fits like French and Paris
- 57:58Speaker 3: style so much, and it'll be so nice to have,
- 58:01Speaker 3: like you know, it's a very different esthetic then we
- 58:05Speaker 3: have it like the leaky cauldron or the three broomsticks
- 58:08Speaker 3: that are very like rustic in nature, and this is
- 58:12Speaker 3: very like just.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Elegant Golden age, yes.
- 58:17Speaker 3: And it just fits the theming and like I said, yeah,
- 58:21Speaker 3: that French aesthetics so well, and it'll be so nice
- 58:23Speaker 3: to have like another eatery place because I love Leaky
- 58:27Speaker 3: cauldron and three broomsticks and so it'll be nice to
- 58:30Speaker 3: have yet another kind of Wizarding World food place to
- 58:33Speaker 3: eat at. But that is such a different vibe than
- 58:37Speaker 3: the others that we have.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Mm hmm. If you're looking for a wand shop, there
- 58:45Speaker 1: is going to be cosme at kashar begets Magicue, which
- 58:50Speaker 1: is the wand Shop. And you know, they were really
- 58:52Speaker 1: asking for it with this park, just having Americans totally
- 58:56Speaker 1: butcher all of these.
- 58:57Speaker 3: I was just thinking as we were, like you were
- 58:59Speaker 3: saying that you were going to attempt a butter beer cart, Like,
- 59:02Speaker 3: how are like the average travelers to universal going to
- 59:08Speaker 3: navigate this?
- 59:11Speaker 5: They need a pronunciation book upon le Yeah.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Oh, so we have concept art for this wand Shop
- 59:21Speaker 1: as well, and it looks really cool. There's this large chandelier,
- 59:25Speaker 1: there's all of the cases all around, and apparently the
- 59:30Speaker 1: thing that's unique about this shop is the wand boxes
- 59:34Speaker 1: are three sided.
- 59:37Speaker 3: So like they're like a more like a triangle shape
- 59:39Speaker 3: than the long box.
- 59:41Speaker 5: Interesting, yeah, kind of making reference to the deathly hollows
- 59:45Speaker 5: maybe ooh yeah, I don't.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Think of that good call.
- 59:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, I see now I'm looking at the
- 59:52Speaker 3: concept art that's in here. It's funny because, like, I
- 59:54Speaker 3: think that that's really cool because it kind of again
- 59:58Speaker 3: fits that aesthetic of like this more elegant, elevated style.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Like obviously, like looking at this wand shop the concept
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: are it's so it fits again. It's so elegant. You know,
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: where you've got like more like Olivanders is more of
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: that like rustic kind of look. And yeah, the wand
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: boxes being kind of in that more triangular shape kind
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: of just goes with the aesthetic of being a little
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: elevated elegant.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: I just think that's really fun too, because it gives
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: you something different. Like if you purchase a wand in
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: this park, it's going to give you a different experience
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and a different wand box that you're taking away, So
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: it kind of sets it apart from like purchasing a
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: wand in Oliveanders. So it's two different experiences. And I
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: think that's smart of them because I think people will
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: do both. They'll be like, oh, I need one from
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: this land and I need one from this land, right.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: So yeah, and especially too it is yeah, and you
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: have a box with a different name on it. You know,
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: it's not going to have the typical Olivanders, which you
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: can get at anyway, right, you know you don't have
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: to necessarily even be Yeah, you can get that in
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: either part. So definitely a good money grab, good job Universal.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: We will though for it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, well, I mean I'm obviously going
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: to purchase a wand and it'll be interesting to see
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: like what the wands end up looking like, because I
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: wonder if they will kind of go with that trend
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: of having some like non character wands, you know how
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: like an Olivanders you can get the non character wands
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: that are just the different wand type like one would types.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: And then I think about, like at like Harry Potter
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: New York, how they have all of the like specialty wands,
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: which those are my favorite, like my the couple that
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: I have that are the specialty I love those, They're
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: my favorite ones. So I feel like they could really
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: maybe play into this like fantastic beast vibe and have
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: maybe some specialized ones that are like with different beasts.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Interesting again, if you're listening Universal, like I would buy it.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: They could also make this the only wand shop in
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Universal that you could get the fantastic these characters.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Oh yes, to like move them out of Olivanders and
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: this is where you get them. Yeah, that would be
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: I bet you they do do something like that, because
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: that would make complete sense and also help to be like,
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: well why would I get a wand ear? Because I
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: think one thing you have to kind of battle with, right,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: is like getting a want at Olivanders is like a
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: very nostalgic experience, right, And I think even like for me,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: it's like getting not get going to Olivanders and diagon
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Alley is more nostalgic than going to the one in
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Hogsmeade because it just doesn't make sense kind of that
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: it's there. So you do have to do something to
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: kind of set apart from you know, it's like you
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: want to go and you're like, well, ever, you know,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: just like Harry he gets his first one at Olivanders,
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: that's or I want to go to So what can
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: they do to make this wand shop just a little
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: bit extra special? But also want to go here?
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: I think that's a good idea to sell the character
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: wants from the franchise from Fantastic Bias, I think it
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: would be a clever move, definitely.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: It also makes those wands seem more novelty too, which
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I would imagine they probably don't sell very many of them.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: The demand's probably not really super high. But if you
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: make them like exclusive to a certain area of the park,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: then you're kind of making it more special, more novelty
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: to get those. So it could just be a smart
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: move all around.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Just saying yeah, because I think, like, I mean, if
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: you think about it, it really wouldn't make sense to
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: walk into this shop and buy the Elder wand or
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: by Harry's wand right like, you wouldn't like it makes
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: more sense that you'd find that in Britain, in Alvanders
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: and almost like it kind of doesn't make sense that
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: you would find certain wands I guess in oli Vanders too,
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: although I guess that's a bit different because they did
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: go to Hogwarts, so I can't think of like someone
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: off the top of the head that has a wand
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: out right now that would be specific to Paris. But yeah, yeah, great, right, yeah,
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: very interesting to see I guess what they what they
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: do here, but not surprised that another wand job ended
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: up here. Well, of course, they had to they have
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: the interactive part. You ought to be able to get
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: your wand somewhere.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: And do we think that if they do the like
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the wand would non character wand, do we think that
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: they'll make them different?
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: I hope so, I really hope so, because it just
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: provides like another option, especially if like you really want
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: to buy like your wand type that you know you
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: got on well it's not powermore anymore, but like the
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Wizarding World website and you don't like how it looks,
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: that's kind of my thing, right, Like I have an
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: ash wand, but I don't necessarily love the ash wand
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: that you can get at Olli Vanders. So that would
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: be a really good marketing thing to offer another style
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: of that, to give you options.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: So then there's also a sweet shop that they're going
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: to have in Wizarding Paris called k Rammel, So it's
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: expected to be similar to honey Dukes or what's the
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: sweet shop called.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: The sugar Plums.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Yeah, sugar plums in the die Gotta Alley section. So
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: that makes sense too. You got to be able to
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: get your butter beer, fudge, your chocolate frogs, all that stuff.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Well, do we think we'll see like different things at
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: this one, because you know how like honeydews and sugar
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: plums kind of sell the same thing. But like, yeah,
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: and this one, do you think we'll see them kind
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: of stick with that like French theme, and maybe we'll
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: have like I would love, oh my god, a butter
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: beer macron. Yeah, like this would be again universal if
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: you're liing to this podcast, like that would be perfect,
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: and I feel like too, you could also take other
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: pottery inspired the like like inspired flavors I think of
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: like Florian's and like different ice cream flavors, and I
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: feel like they could be turned into macrons. If that
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: doesn't happen, I might be a little disappointed. Do have.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: That quick service that we talked about does have French
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: baked goods?
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Do you know we're at least getting like some sort
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: of bakery stuff. Yeah, but yeah, that'd be really cool.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: If they did, like special.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: Sweep, they should definitely put their twist do it? Maybe
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: get nineteen twenties Bratty bought beans a different box, like you.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: Say, like different box have it in French?
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Oh yes, yeah.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Like chocolate frogs but in French and probably designed differently
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: as well, or I mean, I guess I will. I guess.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: We don't really know if those are more specifically like
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: British Wizarding suites, or if they're just Wizarding World in general,
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: or are there specific suites in like France. I think
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: there's a lot of like creativity they could have with it,
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: but it would be really cool to have, Like I
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: think of how like when they redesigned like the butter
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: beer bottles for like a Harry Potter New York and
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: had the New York style one. Like, there's so many
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: different opportunities there to kind of take what we know
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: and just rebrand it, and especially because so many of
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: us like to collect those things and collect the boxes.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a great frog box sitting on my
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: desk right now. Yeah.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Like I would totally buy one that was in French.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Yeah. So another restaurant that we get is Les Goublet
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Noir or yeah, which is a restaurant offering soup, salads, entrees,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: and desserts. And it is apparently like the Dark Spot
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: of Wizarding Paris, kind of looks like not nocturnality, kind
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: of vibes a little bit.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: A little bite material I was gonna say, I mean,
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: this is gonna be like my favorite part of the era. Uh,
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: this new Land for sure. I love Nocturnale. So this
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: is looking at the concept art, I think it's really
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: cool and it's nice. I think it's nice that they're
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: including like something like this because I think, obviously the
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: dark arts is such a big thing in the Wizarding World,
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: and it's nice to see like there's these darker areas
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: of all these different Wizarding communities. It's not like an
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: exclusively like British Wizarding World thing, and it'll be nice
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: to just kind of have a similar area. And it
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: looks really cool too, I mean all the concept art
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: looks really great and it looks like too. There's also
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: similar to like Wanted posters as well that we get,
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: but just the French version.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks really cool.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Oh and I love too on this. I always kind
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: of sometimes take concept art with a grain of salt
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: because like sometimes like when it actually gets built, you
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: don't get everything that's on the concept art. But looking
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: at this concept art that you know that we have
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: here on the back to it looks like there's also
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: that beast theme is carrying over into this area too.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: It looks like a snake, and I can't tell what
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: the other thing is, but it looks like we still
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: have that carrying, yeah, carrying through here as well, and
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: maybe some more dark magical creatures.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: M m. There's also two gift shops full of wizarding memorabilia,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: the first of which is Lace Galley Mirr Fiaks, and
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: then Tour and Flu, which is the gift shop after
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: you exit the Ministry of Magic ride. And that is
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: kind of just the overview of what we know so far.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: We got quite a bit of information on this on
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: September first. We got some really good stuff over the
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: summer as well with all the concept art, and I'm
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: really looking forward to this park and I can't wait
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: to see what else we get.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Absolutely yeah, I can't wait for this to kind of
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: like merch the three parks together somehow and you get
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: to experience all of them the other and it's going
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: to be a wild ride.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Mm hmmm. Yeah. I'm definitely looking forward to kind of
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: a new area to explore because I think, especially you know,
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: when you're somebody who is like a frequent goer to
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: the parks, it's just always nice, you know, to get
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: to get a new area, and I mean, I definitely
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: more to come. I'm really interested to see what ends
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: up happening regarding ticketing here. We already we did learn
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: that initially, like you're gonna have to buy a separate
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: ticket to go to Epic Universe. And this makes sense
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: because I think also, and this is just me speculating,
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: but I think that initially there will not be annual
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: pass for Epic Universe because they obviously really need to
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: control the traffic in this this area, and you can't
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: really do that with annual pass holders that can kind
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: of just come whenever. So I won't be I'll be
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: very like, I feel like what will happen is that
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: our annual passes will kind of like remain what they are,
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: and you'll have to buy a separate ticket, like a
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: date based ticket, you know, to Epic Universe, so that
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: they have idea of the number of who's going.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: And maybe doing like a discount or something for annual
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: pass holders.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: Yeah maybe, you know, yeah, I think maybe at least
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: for the first year. So it'll be really interesting to
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: see kind of how that even how that works. And
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: of course this area of the park is going to
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: be absolutely you know, swarmed right when it first opens.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: But I think the good thing about it too, though,
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: is it's not like we're not just getting like Wizarding Paris, right,
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: We're getting literally a whole new theme park with also
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: the other really cool, amazing areas. So hopefully like that'll
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: help kind of like spread out a little. But as well,
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: it's not just like when Diagon Alley opened and that
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: was like the only new part. But obviously, like we
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: know how big the fandom is and how many people
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: are excited for this, so it's going to be busy,
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: especially at first, but yeah, super exciting, all right.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: So that wraps up our main discussion.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: It's about to leave.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Grab on to the pork Key.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: This is our rotating segment. It's called the Pornky. Basically,
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: what we do here is we talk a little bit
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: about different Wizarding themed travel destinations that we've either been
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: to or planning to go, or just you know, giving
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: tips to anyone who's interested in visiting these parts as
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: seen in the Harry Potter films or inspired by the
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: Harry Potter films. So I guess we can start with
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: our first experience for the segment. So I just came
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: back from a trip from New York and I went
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: to the Harry Potter store and I got to hop
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: on a broom for the Broomstake experience. And it's basically
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: just an immersive green screen experience where you get to
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: again hop on a room and fly around different iconic
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: locations that you see in the films, starting from downtown London,
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: flying through River Thames as seen in the Order of
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: the Phoenix. Then you're seeing crossing the Glenfinn invitedt all
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: the way up to the Scottish Highlands, and you finally
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: arrive at Hobwartz and you're doing all this while you're
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: escaping and dodging spells from death theaters and you're counter
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: attacking with your wand so it's kind of chaotic. Before entering,
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: you get a couple of muck shots taken as an
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: Azkaban inmate, which I thought was quite funny, and then
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: you're given you're provided with a house robe and a
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: wand and that's it.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: You're all said.
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: So once you're done, you get some pictures taken and
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: they provide you also with a recording of the experience
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: and you're available, you're able to purchase it once you're done.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: And I would say if you've already done this at
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: the Making a Harry Potter in London, then maybe this
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: experience won't provide you with anything new, as it's almost
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: quite literally like a copycat version of that one. I
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: will say, however, that it's interesting how they've managed to
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: bring this small piece up, you know, of the Studio
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: Tour attraction into New York, and yeah, I mean I'm
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: excited to see what else they can come up with.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: I'd love to see other photo op experiences available, like
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: the Hogwarts Express one which is also at the Studio
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: Tour in London. I think there's more than enough space,
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: like to you know, swap one of the slots built
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: for the Broomsticks experience for a new one, because there's
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: like four of them. And yeah, I think they could
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: even come up with something fresh and new that we've
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: never seen before. And I think what makes these Harry
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: Potter attractions scattered across the world so special is said
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: that each offers something unique. And I think that's very
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: interesting because it kind of like prompts you into exploring
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: into going into these places and wanting to visit, and
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: I do know that they used to have this virtual
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: reality experience called Wizards Take Flight and Chaos at Hogwarts,
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: both of which I unfortunately couldn't experience.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, if.
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: You are happened to be in New York and you
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: pay a visit to the Harry Potter Store, you should
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: definitely check it out.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: You do have to.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: Pay for the photos and video though, but it's free
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: to try out. And you have the crew who are
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: super friendly and they're directing you and you know, making
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: the you know, making sure that you are putting on
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: a whiz worthy show. So they're kind of like telling you, okay,
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: now dodge now cast now you know you arrived in Hogwarts,
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: celebrate and put your hands up in the r.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: It's like very energetic. So yeah, it's it's a fun experience.
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: I'd say, if you're there, you should definitely check it out.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't realize it's free. That's kind of cool.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: I know the VR experiences that they had before you
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: had to pay for the slots for those, so that's
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: kind of nice that it's offered for free.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to do both of those VR experiences
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: and they were really cool and I thought it was
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: such a good addition to the you know, the building
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: to be more than just a store. And it was
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: really sad too, you know, when they announced they were
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: going to be closing those, but I'm glad it was
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: replaced with something because I think it just you know, yeah,
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: it's you know, you go to there and you know
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: it's a store, but it just right creating that experience
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: like you mentioned and having something like different in different places.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: And they definitely have the space to kind of, like
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: you mentioned, to maybe add something else because there was
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: so many different rooms too for like the other VR experiences,
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: So it'll be interesting to see how that expands or
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: if they add anything else. But yeah, definitely recommend checking
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: that out if you've not done to the store before. Sonoys.
