- 0:21Speaker 2: are we graced by your studio? What accomplishment did you
- 0:25Speaker 2: have that you want to be talk about now? I'd
- 0:27Speaker 2: like to just read a brief a brief passage which
- 0:30Speaker 2: I think Alex especially with according to do so.
- 0:33Speaker 3: This is good.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This is good. Though you're Richard Seymour. There's rumors that
- 0:37Speaker 2: he's looking to team up with him in his ownership
- 0:41Speaker 2: bid for the Raiders. I am a Patriot except for
- 0:43Speaker 2: the Raiders playing.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Everyone is having their wedding in Italy the last two summers.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Everyone's in Italy.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Who's everyone?
- 0:49Speaker 5: All the people on Instagram?
- 0:51Speaker 2: The gymnastics, I mean, I don't want to make fun.
- 0:54Speaker 2: These kids are freaking they are I think the beam
- 0:56Speaker 2: is one of the toughest things in Oh my god,
- 1:00Speaker 2: what's with all the hand movement? Oh? She picked Beyonce
- 1:03Speaker 2: is really a crowd favorite. I don't care. Just do
- 1:06Speaker 2: your tumble. You know what are we doing?
- 1:09Speaker 6: This is Patriot's Unfiltered presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:13Speaker 6: deals Buy a Toyota dot com filtered.
- 1:20Speaker 2: It is Tuesday here Atchelette Stadium, and we're sitting here
- 1:25Speaker 2: in our new studio that we launched yet last week.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But this week we have our furniture that we is
- 1:33Speaker 2: more permanent furniture, so I'm not sinking down like quicksand anymore.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And we have Paul and Evan who weren't here last week,
- 1:40Speaker 2: so now we now we really feel complete, although Deuce
- 1:44Speaker 2: isn't here, Alex is here, Matt's in the booth, Jordan's
- 1:47Speaker 2: back operating the cameras. Paul Evan, what do you think
- 1:50Speaker 2: your first look, I'll.
- 1:52Speaker 7: Let you go first. I'm uncomfortable.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I feel like both Paul and I are in the
- 1:57Speaker 3: same boat of changes, our nemesis, just in life in general.
- 2:02Speaker 3: So I like the look of it. It looks great,
- 2:05Speaker 3: very well done. It will take some getting used to.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Because we're not high up and elbows on the Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 7: I will say that everything around us is fantastic, and
- 2:14Speaker 7: I got a chance to see most of that stuff
- 2:16Speaker 7: for today. We were in bad need of a facelift,
- 2:21Speaker 7: so we needed that.
- 2:22Speaker 8: Uh.
- 2:23Speaker 7: I think it looks great. Visually. It's gonna take some
- 2:26Speaker 7: getting used to sitting like this.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Sitting like this, like living room.
- 2:30Speaker 7: Right, I'm like a microphone, I'm working, I'm doing a
- 2:33Speaker 7: radio show. Yeah, like you know, taking a break and yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 7: I know everybody thinks that we just sort of well,
- 2:40Speaker 7: we take a break from work when we you know,
- 2:42Speaker 7: we have lunch during that.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's the best part of the work, right, So there'll.
- 2:46Speaker 7: Be no more lunches obviously, why not?
- 2:48Speaker 4: I mean, we are a coffee table, can't I can't
- 2:51Speaker 4: a coffee table before.
- 2:54Speaker 7: I already I aluld point that you did not? Did
- 2:59Speaker 7: you got chicken?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah? All right, I said, no, guy, why do you
- 3:04Speaker 2: say no?
- 3:04Speaker 3: He's on a diet.
- 3:06Speaker 2: That's not all of a sudden we get a new studio.
- 3:09Speaker 2: You're not going to eat anymore. No more Paul's foods.
- 3:11Speaker 7: Here, Yeah, not in here.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Okay, it's not really conducive, difficult.
- 3:20Speaker 7: I can't tell you how much I like all of this,
- 3:22Speaker 7: Like I told you that two weeks ago.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Listen.
- 3:25Speaker 7: I love the fable that will lower down.
- 3:32Speaker 2: So when you have your food lower down and then
- 3:34Speaker 2: when you're done, it'll raise up. Perfect.
- 3:37Speaker 7: I was pretty complimentary of the studio I just want
- 3:40Speaker 7: to make sure finally, if you, I just want to
- 3:42Speaker 7: make sure you're fit.
- 3:44Speaker 5: It's like a European grandma.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Okay, all right, all right, all right, So enough of
- 3:49Speaker 2: that great studio patriots. What are we talking about. We're
- 3:53Speaker 2: talking about Matt Judehan. We're talking about training camp in
- 3:56Speaker 2: eight days for the public.
- 3:58Speaker 7: So there was a minor factoid that reportedly came out
- 4:03Speaker 7: Kaishan Boody. I don't know if you saw this.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I did not.
- 4:06Speaker 7: According to his agent, the charges of the gambling and
- 4:11Speaker 7: the underage situation from LSU. The gambling has all been dropped,
- 4:16Speaker 7: according to his agent. Okay, I should clarify. So that's
- 4:20Speaker 7: not necessarily I didn't pick up the phone and call
- 4:23Speaker 7: you know, the Louisiana you know, Gaming Commission or anything.
- 4:27Speaker 7: But so it looks like he's avoided any kind of
- 4:30Speaker 7: repercussionists from that's good.
- 4:32Speaker 2: One less thing to deal with once shamp opens, hopefully.
- 4:36Speaker 2: What do we think about Matt Judon?
- 4:39Speaker 7: You guys have to get me up to speed on
- 4:40Speaker 7: Matt Judon.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Well, I mean Greg Bdard, one of your guys came
- 4:45Speaker 2: out and said he's not going to play under that contract.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So whatever you want to call it, you know, sit
- 4:52Speaker 2: in or whatever. But he's not going to play under
- 4:56Speaker 2: the current contract now. And then jud went to social
- 5:00Speaker 2: and said, don't put words in my mouth or something
- 5:02Speaker 2: like that. I didn't say that. Don't make me the villain.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So that's what we know, right, Am I missing anything?
- 5:10Speaker 7: Don't make me the villain? Yeah, hmm, that's kind of ominous.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Well, I don't who is the villain? I don't make well. No,
- 5:19Speaker 2: but the thing is, if he's looking for the same
- 5:21Speaker 2: thing that pretty much everyone else in his situations, he's
- 5:24Speaker 2: not a villain if he wants more money. I don't
- 5:26Speaker 2: hold that against it.
- 5:27Speaker 7: No, but I yeah, so I would read that as
- 5:31Speaker 7: him saying, don't I want to play. I want this
- 5:37Speaker 7: and I'm not getting this. Don't make me the villain,
- 5:41Speaker 7: Like this is what I want. They're not giving it
- 5:43Speaker 7: to me, right, So don't make me out to be
- 5:45Speaker 7: the villain.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Because I want that. Don't make me the villain. I
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't now, I don't know.
- 5:50Speaker 7: I mean full disclosure. This is I'm catching up. I
- 5:54Speaker 7: don't know this story. I don't know what Badard wrote
- 5:57Speaker 7: other than what you just paraphrased. That makes sense to me.
- 6:00Speaker 7: With Greg Road that he would not be really interested
- 6:04Speaker 7: in playing. I'm looking seven and a half million.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Dollar Morgan Tippett Ledso Brady's right behind me, law Hannah.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think every one of those guys at one point
- 6:21Speaker 2: in their career said hey, I want more. I mean that,
- 6:24Speaker 2: that's just what being a professional athlete is these days.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I don't consider him a villain for doing that.
- 6:30Speaker 4: I took his tweet moras, don't put words in my mouth.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I never explicitly said I wouldn't play. But you also
- 6:38Speaker 4: have to kind of read into the actions he's He's.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Going to say the right thing publicly, but.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Action, and he will be here in some form. He
- 6:48Speaker 2: probably won't partake in everything just like he did last year,
- 6:53Speaker 2: because you can't sit out anymore because you get fine
- 6:56Speaker 2: too much, so they do these sit ins.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't really have any problem with any of it.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I feel like what Badard reported was, I do not
- 7:05Speaker 3: expect a four time pro bowler to play for six
- 7:07Speaker 3: point five million dollars in base salary in today's day
- 7:10Speaker 3: and age as a pass rusher, as a double digit
- 7:13Speaker 3: sack guy when he's healthy. It's an underpay well to
- 7:16Speaker 3: his contract.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Now do you have any empathy for the Patriots side
- 7:20Speaker 2: of it, where last year we gave you that bump
- 7:22Speaker 2: and then you played four games. So this year, like
- 7:26Speaker 2: maybe I guesse, they made him an offer supposedly, yes,
- 7:29Speaker 2: but it wasn't close to what he wanted. So maybe
- 7:32Speaker 2: they're thinking, you know, we'll give you some, but we're
- 7:35Speaker 2: not going to give you fifteen million, because like we
- 7:39Speaker 2: kind of got screwed last year.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Well, but I feel like last year was putting a
- 7:43Speaker 3: band aid on the problem to begin with, where they said,
- 7:46Speaker 3: we're probably going to be back in the same position
- 7:48Speaker 3: we were in last year a year from now, but we're
- 7:51Speaker 3: okay with that. There's a couple of different avenues they
- 7:53Speaker 3: can go about it. They can just give them a
- 7:55Speaker 3: raise and just give them money right and say, you know,
- 7:58Speaker 3: we'll give you five million bucks. Here it is. They
- 8:02Speaker 3: could extend him and then that would give him a
- 8:04Speaker 3: signing bonus and give him money in his pocket that way.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Or they could tack on an incentive package onto his deal,
- 8:11Speaker 3: and because he only played four games last year, those
- 8:14Speaker 3: would be very easy to meet. Incentive.
- 8:16Speaker 2: See, I'm guessing that's what it is. I'm guessing the
- 8:19Speaker 2: offer of the Patriots made is very incentive late.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Right, So you look at some of the comps. You know,
- 8:25Speaker 3: Zadarius Smith just signed with the Browns on a two year,
- 8:28Speaker 3: twenty four million I think it was twenty three and
- 8:30Speaker 3: a half to be exact, at thirty one going into
- 8:33Speaker 3: his age thirty two season. You know, Daniel Hunter signed
- 8:37Speaker 3: a huge deal with the Texans, but he's only twenty
- 8:39Speaker 3: nine years old. You know, it's three years younger than
- 8:41Speaker 3: Matthew Judon. So if you're looking at the comps, he's
- 8:43Speaker 3: probably a twelve million dollar player at this point right now,
- 8:47Speaker 3: just based off of age and coming off an injury
- 8:50Speaker 3: and things like that. But if you're Judon, you have
- 8:53Speaker 3: to look at it and say, well, the top pass
- 8:54Speaker 3: rushers are getting twenty So the Patriots are saying, this
- 8:58Speaker 3: is what a guy is. Smith made three Pro Bowls,
- 9:01Speaker 3: you know, pretty similar comparison in terms of age. He
- 9:05Speaker 3: got eleven and a half I think, you know eleven
- 9:08Speaker 3: whatever that math is eleven point twenty five. So that's
- 9:11Speaker 3: what we're gonna pay you. If you're Matthew Judon, you're
- 9:13Speaker 3: gonna say that's not even top ten pass rusher money.
- 9:16Speaker 3: And I'm a top ten pass rusher. So I think
- 9:18Speaker 3: that's where the gap is right now between the two sides.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I'm sorry, I was just gonna ask what he's supposed
- 9:23Speaker 4: to make this season. Things stand now for just guarantee Becua.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Six, so he's due six and a half in base
- 9:29Speaker 3: salary and then like a million's tied up and you know,
- 9:32Speaker 3: workout per game roster bonuses things like that, so he'll
- 9:36Speaker 3: get all of those. He's gonna be on the team.
- 9:38Speaker 3: So he's probably gonna make about seven point five this year.
- 9:42Speaker 3: So if you're the Patriots, do you say we'll put
- 9:44Speaker 3: a incentive package onto your deal that's worth five million
- 9:48Speaker 3: dollars to get you up to that twelve million dollar mark.
- 9:51Speaker 3: And all you have to do is play five games
- 9:53Speaker 3: because he only played four last year.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I have an idea to get the deal over the
- 9:57Speaker 2: top and get it done. Toyota because and if you
- 10:01Speaker 2: want to see Toyota's best office, including those not seen
- 10:04Speaker 2: on TV, go to buy at Toyota dot Com is
- 10:07Speaker 2: Toyota's official website for deals from the official vehicle, the
- 10:10Speaker 2: New England Patriots. Toyota. Let's sign up, Judaan right, let's
- 10:15Speaker 2: get going.
- 10:16Speaker 7: So I'm glad he is I want a Toyota Can.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He's very Remember who was a Chad the linebacker Brown?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Chad Brown came in with the Mini Cooper. No way, Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 2: this big guy and he drove around in that little
- 10:33Speaker 2: Mini Cooper.
- 10:34Speaker 5: They must have to customize the seat for him.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Uh.
- 10:38Speaker 7: The guaranteed money, though, I I'm glad that Alex brought
- 10:42Speaker 7: it up, and Evan, you sort of echoed what I've
- 10:46Speaker 7: been saying. Like there's been a lot of people saying
- 10:48Speaker 7: you just got to give him some guaranteed money. He
- 10:49Speaker 7: has no guaranteed money. There's no guaranteed money in the deal, Like, well,
- 10:53Speaker 7: is he going to be on the team four. If
- 10:55Speaker 7: he's not on the Patriots, he's going to be traded, right,
- 10:58Speaker 7: He's not gonna get cut, right, So that's guaranteed money,
- 11:03Speaker 7: you know, whatever it is. And I'm not suggesting that
- 11:05Speaker 7: he's paid well enough, but like this whole notion that
- 11:10Speaker 7: they were talking about Godshaw and these other guys, I'm like, well,
- 11:15Speaker 7: you just got to give him some guaranteed money. I
- 11:19Speaker 7: don't think that it's as simple as that they want
- 11:21Speaker 7: more money than their scheduled to receive.
- 11:25Speaker 2: And they want security, they want money for a number of.
- 11:29Speaker 7: What I would wonder to me the big question for
- 11:31Speaker 7: judea On specifically would be do you identify him as
- 11:35Speaker 7: another one of these guys that you want to extend
- 11:38Speaker 7: and keep around as part of your nucleus, or given
- 11:42Speaker 7: his age, do you say, maybe we'll give him a
- 11:45Speaker 7: little bit more money to what is beak this year,
- 11:47Speaker 7: but we're not going to extend so because that makes
- 11:50Speaker 7: it a little bit trickier. I think they have plenty
- 11:52Speaker 7: of space, they have plenty of flexibility. I would just
- 11:55Speaker 7: get him up up to fifteen million and call it
- 11:59Speaker 7: a day now. If that it's a combination of what
- 12:01Speaker 7: Evan's talking about with incentives or just you know, giving
- 12:05Speaker 7: them you know, say a five million dollar bonus or
- 12:08Speaker 7: something you know they've they've done. I mean, that would
- 12:11Speaker 7: be a large one. But they've done things like this
- 12:14Speaker 7: in the past with various guests.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think, you know, James Pettigrew the most interesting Patriots
- 12:19Speaker 2: fan in the world. Rights in what else are they
- 12:21Speaker 2: spending the money on? I mean the studio now that
- 12:24Speaker 2: that is a good point. I mean a lot of people,
- 12:27Speaker 2: you know are talking about how under the salary cap.
- 12:31Speaker 2: The Patriots are right now and they've got the money
- 12:33Speaker 2: to spend, and that's true, but I think you don't
- 12:36Speaker 2: just spend it. You have to be reasoned and how
- 12:39Speaker 2: you spend it, and what precedent that you're sending with
- 12:43Speaker 2: with players like that, so you know, next year if
- 12:46Speaker 2: it's somebody else like that, did we set a bad
- 12:49Speaker 2: precedent by just handing them fifteen million? So there's there's
- 12:53Speaker 2: more to it than just having the Ligrey.
- 12:55Speaker 7: I totally agree, and that's why I mentioned the extension. Like,
- 12:59Speaker 7: I think it would be easy to just say, well,
- 13:01Speaker 7: let's give him what he wants attack a year on,
- 13:03Speaker 7: But I don't know if they want to do that
- 13:05Speaker 7: and get to thirty three thirty four with a guy
- 13:09Speaker 7: you know who is coming off an injury. He has
- 13:12Speaker 7: been productive as a Patriot, but he is coming off
- 13:14Speaker 7: an injury. Like Evan said, he only played four games
- 13:16Speaker 7: last year.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I I do think though that you know, you take
- 13:23Speaker 2: a few dollars away because he's not a very good GM.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Like all that work he does trying to get players,
- 13:28Speaker 2: he never gets the guy. He never gets the guys.
- 13:31Speaker 7: So like you know, you know, and if you want
- 13:33Speaker 7: to like really delve into it, you know, you want
- 13:35Speaker 7: to like get your hands dirty and play hardball with negotiations.
- 13:40Speaker 7: He also kind of tailed off, you know, in twenty one,
- 13:43Speaker 7: he tailed off dramatically in the second half of the year.
- 13:47Speaker 7: Not as much in twenty two, but a drop off,
- 13:49Speaker 7: and then twenty three he gets hurt. So is that
- 13:53Speaker 7: a sign of age that he gets off to a
- 13:55Speaker 7: good start and he looked like he was off to
- 13:57Speaker 7: a good start again last year, but was there going
- 14:00Speaker 7: to be another inevitable decline in performance during the second half?
- 14:04Speaker 7: And if I were the Patriots, those are the kinds
- 14:06Speaker 7: of things I'd be countering with.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it just feels different than the other guys that
- 14:09Speaker 3: they've given extensions to because all those guys are hitting
- 14:12Speaker 3: their primes. They're, you know, twenty five, twenty six years old. Besides,
- 14:16Speaker 3: I guess maybe Hunter Henry, who's late twenties, you know,
- 14:20Speaker 3: maybe thirtieth.
- 14:20Speaker 7: He's a little bit of an outlier, and he was
- 14:22Speaker 7: in a unique spot being the only tight end on
- 14:25Speaker 7: the run, right.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I mean, there's no doubt that he makes the Patriots
- 14:29Speaker 3: a better team. Matthew jud on it without him last year,
- 14:32Speaker 3: especially without blitzing their four man pass rush was believe
- 14:36Speaker 3: twenty ninth or thirtieth in the league in pressure rate.
- 14:39Speaker 3: They basically had to cook something up to get pressure
- 14:41Speaker 3: on the quarterback. Once he went out of the lineup.
- 14:43Speaker 3: It hurt Ooja certainly. I think felt that as well
- 14:47Speaker 3: that he was getting more attention, he was getting more
- 14:49Speaker 3: of those top matchups and things of that nature. So
- 14:53Speaker 3: he's a valuable piece for them. I just wonder, with
- 14:55Speaker 3: an extension, are you getting yourself into Paul's point, thirty three,
- 14:59Speaker 3: thirty four years old on a rebuilding team? Is that
- 15:02Speaker 3: really what they're trying to do? And I think the
- 15:04Speaker 3: same can be said for Godchild, who I think is
- 15:06Speaker 3: in a similar boat as Juan not.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Just too well, Like you're right, it's the two older
- 15:11Speaker 4: guys on the defense, but I think John Jones is
- 15:14Speaker 4: in a contract year deturch wise, these are the older
- 15:18Speaker 4: vets of that defense, you know.
- 15:20Speaker 5: So clearly a pattern here.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Dylan and Nashville has a lament that a lot
- 15:25Speaker 2: of fans have. He says, I don't get why players
- 15:28Speaker 2: who hold out get new contracts. Judon and his agent
- 15:31Speaker 2: made a poor business decision and signed a bad contract
- 15:34Speaker 2: for him. Were the other way around. The team can't
- 15:37Speaker 2: say you're hurt all the time, so we're not going
- 15:39Speaker 2: to pay you. This is how business works. Sometimes you
- 15:42Speaker 2: make good deals, sometimes you make bad deals. Play for
- 15:45Speaker 2: the millions of dollars you signed for. Not quite.
- 15:49Speaker 7: I mean it's actually wrong too. Yeah, when you get hurt,
- 15:53Speaker 7: he got He got paid last year when he got hurt.
- 15:56Speaker 7: But if you get hurt going forward, you're not getting
- 15:59Speaker 7: paid anymore. Yeah, it's not guaranteed.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That's the thing. It's changed a little bit. The better
- 16:03Speaker 2: players are getting more and more guaranteed money, which protects
- 16:07Speaker 2: them from being cut and when they're hurt and all that.
- 16:09Speaker 2: But you know, NFL is one of the few sports
- 16:13Speaker 2: that the contracts aren't guaranteed. So the only leverage that
- 16:17Speaker 2: players have is to sit out. And you know, as
- 16:22Speaker 2: we've seen a lot of players use that leverage. And
- 16:24Speaker 2: again this goes back to the whole villain thing. I
- 16:27Speaker 2: don't begrudge Judaan for doing that. And it's up to
- 16:30Speaker 2: the team to say, Okay, do we think he is
- 16:33Speaker 2: of more value? Are we willing to pay him? And
- 16:35Speaker 2: they can part ways, they can trade him. It is
- 16:38Speaker 2: a business decision at this point. But I don't think
- 16:40Speaker 2: anyone either side is a villain in any of these things.
- 16:44Speaker 7: I don't either. I just I would like some clarity
- 16:48Speaker 7: on that, because I do think you could look at
- 16:50Speaker 7: it two different ways, like don't make me out to
- 16:53Speaker 7: be the villain, they're the villain, or like I'm just
- 16:59Speaker 7: trying to get market value. There's no villain here.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think there has to be a villain
- 17:04Speaker 2: on either side. I mean, sometimes business sometimes teams are
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know, don't do the right thing. Sometimes players don't
- 17:10Speaker 2: do the right thing. But I think in this case
- 17:12Speaker 2: that in most of these cases, it's just business. It's
- 17:15Speaker 2: only business.
- 17:16Speaker 3: And if it was just business, to me, I would
- 17:18Speaker 3: look to trade him. It's just business, right, I Mean,
- 17:20Speaker 3: it's nothing against Matthew Judon, but if you can get
- 17:24Speaker 3: something that's worth it, obviously I'm not trading him for
- 17:26Speaker 3: a six round pick. But is Matthew Judon going to
- 17:30Speaker 3: be on the next great Patriots team? Is he going
- 17:32Speaker 3: to be on a team that's a contender in the
- 17:34Speaker 3: next year or two. Probably not. He can help a
- 17:37Speaker 3: contender right now that may be willing to give him
- 17:40Speaker 3: the money that he wants. On top of that, if
- 17:42Speaker 3: you get a third round pick for Matthew Judon, I'd
- 17:44Speaker 3: probably do it because the third round pick is going
- 17:47Speaker 3: to be more valuable to this team in this situation
- 17:50Speaker 3: that they're currently in than a thirty two year old
- 17:53Speaker 3: pass rusher at fifteen million dollars a year.
- 17:55Speaker 2: All right, So that's Judon, that that's you trade him.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Tell me what the offer is. I'm I'm not close
- 18:03Speaker 2: to the idea.
- 18:04Speaker 7: Yeah, so I would. I would definitely side with Evan.
- 18:09Speaker 7: I would trade them, and I think I've talked about
- 18:10Speaker 7: that in the past. I do wonder if you would
- 18:14Speaker 7: wait to like the trade and deadline it's supposed to
- 18:17Speaker 7: doing it now. Yeah, Like, go into the season. You
- 18:20Speaker 7: have this defense that everybody feels like is championship caliber.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I don't Oh, that could be the next topic here.
- 18:27Speaker 7: So they have the championship caliber defense, don't take pieces
- 18:31Speaker 7: off of it before the season even starts, you know.
- 18:34Speaker 7: So let's go into the season, Let's see how well
- 18:37Speaker 7: the defense can keep him in games, and then sort
- 18:40Speaker 7: of adjust from there and then maybe make a deal.
- 18:43Speaker 7: Maybe someone loses a pass rusher and you get a
- 18:46Speaker 7: second round pick at the deadline. But you know, I
- 18:49Speaker 7: don't think that's out of the realm of possibility.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I just feel like you also open opportunities
- 18:56Speaker 3: for a Kean White, you know, maybe a Joshu Jay
- 18:59Speaker 3: to play a more every down roll and see what
- 19:01Speaker 3: he can do in that capacity versus just playing on
- 19:04Speaker 3: third downs. They need to get to the point now
- 19:07Speaker 3: where they're turning the roster over to some of the
- 19:09Speaker 3: younger players, and defensively, they're going to be playing a
- 19:11Speaker 3: lot of veteran guys, as they should because it's a
- 19:14Speaker 3: championship caliber defense, so you got to have them all
- 19:16Speaker 3: out there. But at the same time, I do wonder
- 19:19Speaker 3: if there's a trade there, Like to Paul's point, the
- 19:22Speaker 3: deadline might be where you have the most leverage.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Do you think how the Patriots are playing up to
- 19:26Speaker 2: the deadline makes a difference, Like if they're all of
- 19:29Speaker 2: a sudden, Wow, this team's a little better than we
- 19:30Speaker 2: thought they are, well, then I would keep them then, right,
- 19:33Speaker 2: So that affects your decision, right. A couple of Paul's
- 19:36Speaker 2: guys were on TV last night, Tom Kerran and Phil Perry,
- 19:40Speaker 2: and they were talking about there I have a stable
- 19:42Speaker 2: of people, their outlook for the season, and pretty much
- 19:46Speaker 2: everybody on the panel was Treny and one other guy
- 19:49Speaker 2: who does their betting show, I forget his name, Tom Giles. Yes,
- 19:54Speaker 2: five or six wins, that was pretty much the consensus.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Turran said that, yeah, and he's saying in the six
- 20:01Speaker 2: wins mixed in are some feel good wins that maybe,
- 20:05Speaker 2: you know, a late win against the Bills, that give
- 20:08Speaker 2: you hope for twenty twenty five. I can't argue with that, Like,
- 20:14Speaker 2: I can't go in and say, oh, only six wins.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I think if again, how does it look, makes a
- 20:20Speaker 2: big difference. But if you finish the season with six
- 20:23Speaker 2: wins and Drake May is your guy going forward, I
- 20:27Speaker 2: consider that a good season. Believe it or not. Folks,
- 20:30Speaker 2: you know, I know a lot of you think. You know,
- 20:33Speaker 2: the Patriots have a chance to go to the playoffs.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I just want to baby steps right now. We're starting
- 20:39Speaker 2: from scratch.
- 20:40Speaker 5: We just want progress.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we're starting from scratch in so many areas.
- 20:44Speaker 3: The only way that they make the playoffs or have
- 20:46Speaker 3: that kind of season is if Drake May's c J
- 20:49Speaker 3: Stroud right right, if he comes in and.
- 20:51Speaker 2: That can happen. But I want to be realistic.
- 20:53Speaker 3: You know, it's totally fair. I mean, I think their
- 20:55Speaker 3: ceiling is probably around seven wins. That's if they peak
- 20:59Speaker 3: out with assuming that he's not c J. Stroud and
- 21:02Speaker 3: he's not Rookie of the Year in the NFL and
- 21:05Speaker 3: that doesn't have that kind of season. I think seven
- 21:07Speaker 3: wins is probably the most realistic thing that if they
- 21:12Speaker 3: just have sort of that's a ceiling, you know, if
- 21:14Speaker 3: they have a kind of a pedestrian season, right, I
- 21:17Speaker 3: think that's their ceiling. But I think their floor is
- 21:19Speaker 3: probably four or five wins.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Again floor, but so you're even so if May is
- 21:25Speaker 2: c J. Stroud, that's their ceiling.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Their schedules are really difficult.
- 21:30Speaker 7: Yep.
- 21:30Speaker 3: So they're going to in order to get from my
- 21:33Speaker 3: ceiling of seven to ten or eleven, they're going to
- 21:36Speaker 3: have to hit some injury luck or some sort of thing.
- 21:38Speaker 4: There's a quarterback that goes down, there's gonna be a
- 21:41Speaker 4: big key player that goes.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Down and changes. I mean, we saw it the last
- 21:44Speaker 5: couple of seasons.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Sure, a couple of years ago. They tents every week.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Right, they have a schedule they played in twenty two
- 21:52Speaker 3: where they're playing backup six straight backup quarterbacks. Then okay, yeah,
- 21:56Speaker 3: maybe I would increase the from seven to the ceiling
- 21:59Speaker 3: from seven to ten or something like that.
- 22:01Speaker 2: The one thing I'm thinking, pol we'll put a fridge
- 22:03Speaker 2: in here with the diet pepsis.
- 22:04Speaker 7: I think that would be wonderful.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah's a good idea.
- 22:07Speaker 2: OK. No, I think I think reasonably five or six wins,
- 22:13Speaker 2: that's the reasonable answer. Yes, it could go south. I
- 22:17Speaker 2: do think there is that possibility you could go over that,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and of course we're all hoping for that, but a
- 22:23Speaker 2: lot of things have to fall in place for that,
- 22:26Speaker 2: and I'm including the defense being as good, if not
- 22:29Speaker 2: better than last year, because again, the schedules a little
- 22:31Speaker 2: bit better. So there was that run last year that
- 22:35Speaker 2: kept the points down when you're playing Gardner Minshew. I
- 22:37Speaker 2: think there was a run of three or four games
- 22:39Speaker 2: where they didn't the defense didn't give up more than
- 22:41Speaker 2: ten points. Problem is they couldn't score more than seven,
- 22:45Speaker 2: so they lost all those games. If that happens this
- 22:47Speaker 2: year and Drake May is a competent quarterback, those losses
- 22:51Speaker 2: could turn into wins and now maybe you have eight
- 22:54Speaker 2: wins on the season. I don't know, so I think
- 22:58Speaker 2: depending on how May is and if the defense is
- 23:01Speaker 2: like it was last year, the ceiling could could be raised.
- 23:04Speaker 2: It could be raised, but again a lot of things
- 23:09Speaker 2: have to fall in place for that to have.
- 23:11Speaker 7: H I would say a lot of those things that
- 23:12Speaker 7: we're talking about falling into place happened last year and
- 23:15Speaker 7: they still went four and thirteen. Like but you can
- 23:18Speaker 7: they didn't get Rogers twice, they didn't get even Daniel Jones,
- 23:23Speaker 7: they didn't get But take last They played a lot ofs.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Last year, right, but take last year's team, the same schedule,
- 23:30Speaker 2: the same games, insert Drake May as a competent quarterback.
- 23:34Speaker 2: How many more games do they win?
- 23:35Speaker 7: One? Don't? I just don't think they were very good.
- 23:39Speaker 3: They weren't very good. But if you they weren't.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Very good, specifically on offense.
- 23:45Speaker 7: I think they would have probably I think you could
- 23:47Speaker 7: argue that they would have won at least one of
- 23:49Speaker 7: the Colts Giants game. Yeah, those two games, maybe even
- 23:53Speaker 7: give them both of them.
- 23:53Speaker 3: So you say two, Yeah, okay, that's probably more fair.
- 23:57Speaker 2: So now you're up to six wins.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 7: I mean, he's why it's called the ceiling.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, he's going to have to be in order for
- 24:04Speaker 3: them to break through the ceiling. He's going to have
- 24:06Speaker 3: to be the offensive Rookie of the Year well and.
- 24:10Speaker 7: Totally different.
- 24:11Speaker 2: And as we see with totally and as we see
- 24:13Speaker 2: with c J. Stroud and all the good quarterbacks, they
- 24:16Speaker 2: raised the level of the players that are around them.
- 24:18Speaker 7: And that's why if Evans, you know, that comp is
- 24:20Speaker 7: c J. Stroud Rookie of the Year, you know, MVP
- 24:25Speaker 7: votes and whatnot, that lifts everybody. Right, So if that happens,
- 24:31Speaker 7: then the ceiling is higher than five or six years.
- 24:34Speaker 2: So that's what we hope and pray for.
- 24:37Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, absolutely, I'll just settle for a good,
- 24:41Speaker 7: competent quarterback who shows promise.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Inside the NFL. I don't know if we talked about
- 24:46Speaker 2: it last year, last week, I forget, but Bill Belichick
- 24:49Speaker 2: is going to be a permanent member of that show.
- 24:52Speaker 2: What station? Oh that's on the CW.
- 24:54Speaker 3: CW now, But that's the to me, that's the best
- 24:56Speaker 3: fit for him. It's definitely better than him being in
- 24:59Speaker 3: studio on Sundays or you know, the Jimmy Johnson Terry
- 25:03Speaker 3: Bradshaw type role, or even on Games Live on Gibson.
- 25:08Speaker 3: He's going to do the Manning cast. I think a
- 25:09Speaker 3: little bit.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I haven't seen that show in years it's still kind
- 25:12Speaker 2: of like a run around, you know, a recap of
- 25:14Speaker 2: the week.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And I feel like that's that's the best
- 25:19Speaker 3: forum for him. It's like the NFL one hundred thing
- 25:22Speaker 3: that he did with Brady, you know, just letting him
- 25:26Speaker 3: sit in a studio just like this and talk about football,
- 25:29Speaker 3: but not putting him into a game or a studio
- 25:33Speaker 3: show on a Sunday pregame where he says, you have
- 25:36Speaker 3: two minutes to give your take. Bill, You know you
- 25:38Speaker 3: don't want to do that. But if you give him
- 25:40Speaker 3: a little bit of a long runway that he can
- 25:42Speaker 3: just kind of wax poetic about football, which is what
- 25:45Speaker 3: that show is, then I think he'll do pretty well
- 25:47Speaker 3: with it.
- 25:47Speaker 2: All right, A five to five past five hundred is
- 25:49Speaker 2: the ace ticket hotline. Web radio at Patriot dot com
- 25:52Speaker 2: is the way you email us. Let's go to Okay,
- 25:57Speaker 2: so this is Oh, there we go. First time you're
- 25:59Speaker 2: in this wild mouse here? Can you hear me?
- 26:04Speaker 7: Can?
- 26:04Speaker 2: Let's go to Bill and DC? What's up?
- 26:07Speaker 7: Bill?
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yes? That is search on your studio, same problems. Bill?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Are you there? Bill?
- 26:17Speaker 8: You can you hear me?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Hey?
- 26:19Speaker 7: Bill?
- 26:20Speaker 2: What's up? So?
- 26:21Speaker 8: I did some research on quarterbacks that started and didn't
- 26:25Speaker 8: start as rookies want to.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Share it, Okay.
- 26:31Speaker 8: I looked at the thirty top quarterbacks in the modern
- 26:36Speaker 8: era according to Pro Football Reference, so they have a
- 26:40Speaker 8: career weighted approximate value. What top is like Tom Brady
- 26:44Speaker 8: and Peyton Manning. The last one the thirty, Steve McNair,
- 26:48Speaker 8: seemed okay. So of those ten of them started as rookies,
- 26:53Speaker 8: oney of them didn't. The only thing I found one
- 26:57Speaker 8: there was no meaningful perform between.
- 27:00Speaker 9: Those two groups.
- 27:01Speaker 8: They both did equally well on average. There was also
- 27:05Speaker 8: no trend line over time. It's not like you know
- 27:07Speaker 8: in the seventies and eighties. It was different, kind of
- 27:10Speaker 8: the same spread throughout history. The only meaningful gifts I
- 27:14Speaker 8: could find at all was that the starters had like
- 27:18Speaker 8: a normal distribution in their careers, like a bell curve
- 27:22Speaker 8: about how kind of good or bad they were on
- 27:23Speaker 8: that scale, whereas the non starters were a power distribution.
- 27:27Speaker 8: They're kind of backed up against them not so good.
- 27:30Speaker 8: Tom Brady was like a big outlier. And then you know,
- 27:32Speaker 8: I possibly maybe it's that when you're like highly drafted,
- 27:37Speaker 8: when you're like Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Elway, Staff or Bledsoe,
- 27:42Speaker 8: and you had a chance to start early. Maybe the
- 27:44Speaker 8: fact they were going to be good was obvious. But anyway,
- 27:47Speaker 8: that's my two cents on this.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you guys want to comment. Mine is
- 27:51Speaker 2: that Bill has a lot of time on his hands.
- 27:53Speaker 7: But other than that, I, without knowing what the thirty quarterbacks,
- 28:00Speaker 7: I would say that he said that modern era, and
- 28:04Speaker 7: you know it's all the same. I don't think it's
- 28:06Speaker 7: all the same. I think a guy like Steve McNair
- 28:08Speaker 7: and Bledsoe as examples, are not in the same eras this.
- 28:15Speaker 2: By the way, Zach Bryant is here, they're getting ready
- 28:18Speaker 2: for his concerts so attractively. Yeah, if you hear any
- 28:20Speaker 2: music in the background they're doing, we'll give them a little.
- 28:23Speaker 7: Extra they're getting give you a little extra to that.
- 28:25Speaker 7: So I do think that there are and I've always
- 28:28Speaker 7: said this, I think it's case by case. I think
- 28:31Speaker 7: to just say you shouldn't sit because you don't need
- 28:36Speaker 7: to sit is wrong. I personally think I would rather
- 28:40Speaker 7: my guy play, But I don't think it's wrong if
- 28:42Speaker 7: you say he should sit because he's not ready, I
- 28:46Speaker 7: don't think that's wrong. I think you have to look
- 28:47Speaker 7: at it individually, case by case in recent memory. You know, Mahomes,
- 28:53Speaker 7: Jordan Love, you know, Aaron Rodgers, you know, you know
- 28:56Speaker 7: talking about in the last twenty years. Yeah, those are
- 28:59Speaker 7: guys that sat had a lot of success. There is
- 29:02Speaker 7: almost overwhelming the amount of first round picks that play
- 29:06Speaker 7: right away. But I mean there's very few that that's
- 29:09Speaker 7: it anymore.
- 29:09Speaker 2: There's very few that's set, and the ones that sit
- 29:12Speaker 2: usually are behind an established playoff caliber quarterback, and so
- 29:17Speaker 2: there's no urgent need to get them out there. Listen,
- 29:21Speaker 2: I'm on record, Drake May will be the starter on
- 29:25Speaker 2: week one for this team.
- 29:27Speaker 7: You've been all in on that. To me, there's no
- 29:30Speaker 7: I'm just hoping that someone's telling you this every once.
- 29:32Speaker 2: In a while, Freddie You No, no one's telling me this.
- 29:36Speaker 7: Bat phone.
- 29:37Speaker 2: If there's a reason, if there's a reason why the
- 29:40Speaker 2: guy needs to sit, sit them. But if the reason
- 29:43Speaker 2: is that's just my philosophy, you.
- 29:45Speaker 7: Know, quarterbacks, that's my point.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Then I'm out. He should be playing. There's no better
- 29:51Speaker 2: way to get better at anything than by doing it.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 29:55Speaker 7: I mean, if we go out to training camp next
- 29:58Speaker 7: week and we see Drake May, you know, having problems,
- 30:01Speaker 7: clear obvious problems getting out of the huddle, establishing communication,
- 30:06Speaker 7: getting the team set. Ye, he's not ready, and we
- 30:10Speaker 7: can see it. These are obvious things that we can see.
- 30:12Speaker 7: I don't expect that based on what we saw in
- 30:14Speaker 7: the spring. We didn't see any real signs of that
- 30:16Speaker 7: at all.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Now spring and we'll have a good comparison because Jacoby
- 30:19Speaker 2: Brissett's an established veteran who should look like he knows
- 30:23Speaker 2: what he's doing. So if there's a difference that way,
- 30:25Speaker 2: that well Besett looks like he knows what he's doing
- 30:27Speaker 2: in May doesn't okay. But if they look the same,
- 30:32Speaker 2: he's ready.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah, But I also think you have to factor in
- 30:35Speaker 3: a little bit what's going on around him. If the
- 30:38Speaker 3: offensive line continues to be a mess, then you do
- 30:40Speaker 3: have to think twice about putting a rookie quarterback who
- 30:44Speaker 3: is trying to improve footwork and mechanics and things like that.
- 30:48Speaker 3: You don't want to put him into that fire just yet.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Maybe you give it four weeks into the regular sea,
- 30:55Speaker 3: but do you really think.
- 30:55Speaker 2: That you know, once we get to late August that
- 30:59Speaker 2: the offensive line it's going to look like that. I
- 31:01Speaker 2: mean it might on week one might no, but do
- 31:04Speaker 2: you think it will in August or late late August?
- 31:07Speaker 2: By late August? Well, the offensive line, what do you
- 31:10Speaker 2: think Do you think it'll be a hot mess or
- 31:12Speaker 2: do you think okay, they can they can manage.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Probably somewhere in between. Like, I don't think it's gonna
- 31:17Speaker 3: be a hot mess because coaching wise, they should be
- 31:21Speaker 3: pretty well coached.
- 31:22Speaker 7: Be Do you think it was a hot mess last year? No? Okay,
- 31:26Speaker 7: then I don't think it'll be a hot mess. What
- 31:28Speaker 7: do you think. I don't think it'll be any worse.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I think it could. Listen, there were communication issues, but
- 31:34Speaker 2: there was coaching issues, and there were well I was
- 31:37Speaker 2: about to say, some of those issues were due to coaching.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Well injuries.
- 31:43Speaker 3: It never it never worked with Adrian Club No from
- 31:47Speaker 3: Jump Street. It did not. It did not take out
- 31:50Speaker 3: the leave at the end of the season. It wasn't
- 31:52Speaker 3: working from day one with him. So in that respect,
- 31:56Speaker 3: you would think that Scott Peters and Alex Van Pelt
- 31:59Speaker 3: are going to be in a much better spot to
- 32:01Speaker 3: coach this group, both just being on the same page
- 32:04Speaker 3: together and also coaching the group in general. But they
- 32:07Speaker 3: have major question marks at tackle major I mean, Chuk
- 32:11Speaker 3: sikor For was not necessarily a starting right tackle, and
- 32:15Speaker 3: now they're asking him to play left tackle. So that's
- 32:17Speaker 3: gonna be a big question mark. And this team's got
- 32:19Speaker 3: some pass rushers on its own because they're only practicing
- 32:23Speaker 3: against the Eagles one time, right, so we're not gonna
- 32:25Speaker 3: have a ton of joint practices. But if assuming he's
- 32:28Speaker 3: out there, if Matha Judon's coming off the left side
- 32:31Speaker 3: and he's untouched and he's dancing out there because no
- 32:33Speaker 3: one can get a hand on him, that's a problem.
- 32:36Speaker 3: And I don't know if you want to put your
- 32:38Speaker 3: rookie quarterback without a blindside protector that can hold his water.
- 32:42Speaker 5: You can't keep him in a bubble either. Though. It's
- 32:44Speaker 5: never gonna be a perfect situation.
- 32:46Speaker 3: And no, it's never gonna be perfect. It's ever gonna
- 32:49Speaker 3: be perfect. But there's a line, and at some point
- 32:53Speaker 3: I would just like to see it in the regular season.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Maybe. Yeah, Well, if this team is any if there's
- 32:59Speaker 2: any similarities between this team and Bill's team and it
- 33:03Speaker 2: and it's you know that bad at tackle, you'll see
- 33:07Speaker 2: them make a move again. Don't look at what they say,
- 33:10Speaker 2: look at what they do. They'll they'll have to make
- 33:13Speaker 2: a move.
- 33:13Speaker 7: That's what they did last year. But like, those are
- 33:15Speaker 7: the moves that you're going to make. You're going to
- 33:17Speaker 7: get Tyrone, Wheatley and Badarian Lowe. Yeah, I mean, if
- 33:20Speaker 7: you're not going to make a move and get Anthony.
- 33:22Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, like, was the
- 33:24Speaker 2: line that great? No, I'm sure p f F wise,
- 33:27Speaker 2: it wasn't ranked very high in the league, but it wasn't.
- 33:31Speaker 5: Totally as probably going to be.
- 33:34Speaker 3: They were dead last and past block win rate last year,
- 33:36Speaker 3: but by a country mind Okay, but.
- 33:37Speaker 7: I think they're ranked twenty eighth now by your your boys.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean in terms of the projection going into
- 33:43Speaker 3: the season. The biggest thing with the line to me
- 33:46Speaker 3: is is figuring out where you're gonna play Mike on Wentu, Like, see,
- 33:50Speaker 3: is he a tacklers guard? You got to make up
- 33:52Speaker 3: your mind.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I think they want him to be a guard?
- 33:53Speaker 7: Can I play Devil's Advocate? I know that's really you
- 33:56Speaker 7: never do that. That's character for me. I get it. So,
- 34:00Speaker 7: like two years ago, the line was a problem. Matt
- 34:04Speaker 7: Patricia was the offensive coordinator, he was the offensive line coach.
- 34:07Speaker 7: We all said he has too much on his plate.
- 34:08Speaker 7: He's never been on the offensive side. But they fixed it.
- 34:12Speaker 7: They went out and they got a real offensive line
- 34:15Speaker 7: coach and Adrian Clem who went like eight years at
- 34:18Speaker 7: Oregon without ever allowing a sack, and everybody gave him
- 34:21Speaker 7: credit for it, and everybody was really excited about it.
- 34:24Speaker 7: And I think Evan's description of the Adrian Clem era
- 34:27Speaker 7: is accurate. It never worked, it failed, it never worked.
- 34:31Speaker 7: But I think we were talking like this well last
- 34:34Speaker 7: year at this time about how much better it's going
- 34:36Speaker 7: to be because Adrian Klem is really an athne coach.
- 34:40Speaker 7: This guy's never been an offensive line coach. He's been
- 34:42Speaker 7: an assistant under arguably the best offensive line coach. So
- 34:48Speaker 7: we're all assuming. I would agree, That's why I said
- 34:50Speaker 7: I'm playing Devil's advocate. I would agree. I'm feeling much
- 34:53Speaker 7: better about Scott Peters than I was. But you just
- 34:59Speaker 7: don't know until you see it. And I don't think
- 35:01Speaker 7: they have the personnel to just go out there and
- 35:04Speaker 7: say it won't be a train rack, right.
- 35:07Speaker 3: I just think the better thing about it right now
- 35:09Speaker 3: was Scott Peters. Is that to me, and it's just
- 35:12Speaker 3: my opinion. Adrian Clem was forced on Bill O'Brien a
- 35:16Speaker 3: little bit. I don't necessarily think Bill O'Brien was gung
- 35:20Speaker 3: ho about hiring Adrian Clem to begin with. It wasn't
- 35:23Speaker 3: one of his guys. Alex Van Pelt handpicked Scott Peters
- 35:27Speaker 3: to come with him too. That's true from Cleveland too here,
- 35:30Speaker 3: So that's true. One of his guys that's been drilling
- 35:32Speaker 3: his techniques, that's been in his offense for the last
- 35:36Speaker 3: four or five years and has been, you know, someone
- 35:39Speaker 3: that should be on the same page as the coordinator.
- 35:43Speaker 3: So hopefully that works out a little bit better.
- 35:45Speaker 2: So Andrew in La, I know, Paul, you might be
- 35:47Speaker 2: a little uncomfortable with the new set, but he's saying
- 35:49Speaker 2: that you're looking great. He says, Tan Paul is looking
- 35:53Speaker 2: like George Hamilton in those Ritz Toasted Cracker commercials yesterday.
- 35:59Speaker 7: My legs talk.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Uh, you know, I could just see I could just
- 36:05Speaker 2: see Paul sitting here with a bud Light, because bud
- 36:09Speaker 2: Light is easy to drink, easy to enjoy. It's the
- 36:12Speaker 2: official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots, so we
- 36:15Speaker 2: get that little cooler here.
- 36:16Speaker 7: I gotta start scratching my back though, I'm really peeling
- 36:19Speaker 7: a lot in the.
- 36:20Speaker 5: Back o the new couches.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Come on, man, So you were really out there sunning?
- 36:25Speaker 7: Huh?
- 36:25Speaker 2: I know. Were you at Atlantis? I was, Yeah, a
- 36:30Speaker 2: lot of kids, great, great vacation. Yeah, a lot of fun.
- 36:33Speaker 2: You get on the slide?
- 36:35Speaker 7: I did not, the boys did.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Were you in the shark tank?
- 36:38Speaker 7: Well, actually in the shark.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Yeah no, isn't there a thing where you go in
- 36:42Speaker 2: but it's like glass, but the sharks all around you?
- 36:45Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 36:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 7: I sent a picture to Deuce saying our shark. Yeah he
- 36:49Speaker 7: knew what it meant.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Yeah, right, I was on the Jaws Bridge.
- 36:52Speaker 2: There you go in Amityville?
- 36:54Speaker 7: Did you jump off? I'm in Amity Horror.
- 36:59Speaker 3: It's amity it's also not It's also not a real place,
- 37:02Speaker 3: which I think is kind of silly, Like did they
- 37:04Speaker 3: not have the rights to.
- 37:07Speaker 2: It? Was all bluffs?
- 37:08Speaker 4: Right?
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah, let me tell you that there's all kinds of
- 37:10Speaker 2: legal stuff you don't want. When we were on uh
- 37:14Speaker 2: in site, they had to make they used our names.
- 37:17Speaker 2: They had to make sure that within a certain mile
- 37:20Speaker 2: radius of the show, there wasn't anyone or where the
- 37:23Speaker 2: show is depicted, there wasn't anyone with the same names
- 37:26Speaker 2: as us.
- 37:27Speaker 7: Right, remember Ferrara, It's like a nose dive off the tobin. Yeah.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So there's a lot of legal stuff.
- 37:36Speaker 7: Is that is that my clip?
- 37:42Speaker 2: A five five pass five hundred the a stict line.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Todd's in North Carolina? What's up?
- 37:48Speaker 9: Todd Studio looks something like Skelvino with design.
- 37:53Speaker 10: Not a big fan.
- 37:55Speaker 9: We'll say, Alexander's doing a good job of brightening it up.
- 37:57Speaker 9: So we get the PU girls to make it look good.
- 38:00Speaker 9: But let's go on to the more important meet of
- 38:04Speaker 9: the subject. This year, I think that what's being called
- 38:08Speaker 9: as the floor for the wins, that's your ceiling. Got
- 38:12Speaker 9: a new head coach, never done it before. Got a
- 38:15Speaker 9: new guy doing your offense, never done it before, new
- 38:19Speaker 9: defensive coach, never done it before. Rookie quarterback, o line
- 38:24Speaker 9: problems that you're not sure about a little bit, you know,
- 38:26Speaker 9: you got a little bit of you know, good stuff
- 38:29Speaker 9: going on the d. But realistically, this is rebuilt. This
- 38:33Speaker 9: is really really rebuild year one.
- 38:36Speaker 10: That's what this is.
- 38:36Speaker 2: No I mean, And that's why most of the experts
- 38:40Speaker 2: have the Patriots at one of the lowest win teams.
- 38:45Speaker 7: You know, that's why Fox reason.
- 38:48Speaker 8: I think that.
- 38:49Speaker 7: Yeah, and they were three three wins and they was
- 38:53Speaker 7: the lowest by two games.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's like US, Tennessee and Carolina for most
- 38:58Speaker 2: most places have US at the bottom with them. I agree,
- 39:02Speaker 2: And exactly what you're talking about, Todd is that's the reason.
- 39:06Speaker 9: Yeah, And I'm not going to be depressed when it
- 39:08Speaker 9: happened because it's year one of a rebuild.
- 39:11Speaker 8: Really.
- 39:12Speaker 9: That other stuff when Bill was here was all kind
- 39:14Speaker 9: of I don't know if he was chasing records or
- 39:17Speaker 9: what was going on, but it didn't feel like a rebuild.
- 39:19Speaker 11: It felt like, how.
- 39:20Speaker 10: Can I get my wins type thing and split the air?
- 39:22Speaker 9: This feels like a rebuilt to me.
- 39:24Speaker 10: So what are you guys?
- 39:25Speaker 9: Is it the same feeling for you? And I'll take
- 39:27Speaker 9: the answer up there, thanks guys.
- 39:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily be able to argue with any
- 39:32Speaker 7: specific thing that Todd just said, because I think everything
- 39:34Speaker 7: he said was probably fact.
- 39:35Speaker 2: It's a fact.
- 39:36Speaker 7: I think that they did rebuild initially in twenty twenty,
- 39:40Speaker 7: the COVID year. Yeah, the roster was pretty barren that year. Now,
- 39:44Speaker 7: clearly he went out and signed all those free agents
- 39:47Speaker 7: twenty one, so that was the bandid that he was
- 39:49Speaker 7: trying to put on. You know, it gave him a
- 39:51Speaker 7: little bit of a bump, like it does with most
- 39:53Speaker 7: teams that do that, and then it fell back. And
- 39:55Speaker 7: I agree with Todd. This to me is a reset,
- 39:58Speaker 7: the restart of the rebuild. Yeah, I got they gets on.
- 40:01Speaker 7: And I know we've had a lot of calls, a
- 40:04Speaker 7: lot of comments, people saying, well, it's been five years,
- 40:07Speaker 7: but Gerd Mayo has been the coach since since uh
- 40:11Speaker 7: January January seventeenth. I want to say, so, it hasn't
- 40:14Speaker 7: been five years for Jiroid Mayo, right right, This is
- 40:17Speaker 7: this is a rebuild. This is starting now. In my view,
- 40:20Speaker 7: I agree with Todd on that.
- 40:21Speaker 3: The only thing I would push back on what Todd
- 40:23Speaker 3: said is this the fact that Alex Van Pelts never
- 40:27Speaker 3: done it before. He's never called plays at a regular
- 40:31Speaker 3: you know, every single game before. But there's much more
- 40:34Speaker 3: to coordinating than just calling plays. He's been an offensive
- 40:37Speaker 3: coordinator in the league for quite some time. I just
- 40:40Speaker 3: I feel like we sometimes get a little bit too
- 40:42Speaker 3: caught up in the in the play calling aspect of it,
- 40:45Speaker 3: like that's the only part of the job. He's been
- 40:47Speaker 3: game planning He's been you know, building tenants and foundational
- 40:51Speaker 3: elements of an offense for decades, you know, since he
- 40:54Speaker 3: started coaching, So it's not that he's totally new to it.
- 40:58Speaker 3: The other points that he made are all fair. Why
- 41:00Speaker 3: we all kind of have them the same four or five?
- 41:03Speaker 3: Maybe they eke out one one more six win category, right.
- 41:07Speaker 7: Yeah, And I would just say, like what you guys
- 41:09Speaker 7: have been talking about since last year ended. I mean,
- 41:12Speaker 7: as bad as that team was last year, they definitely
- 41:15Speaker 7: could have won a couple more.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 41:17Speaker 7: So that's why I say the season three.
- 41:20Speaker 2: That's the NFL. That's not just the Patriots. I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:25Speaker 7: But like it's rare that you see a team that
- 41:27Speaker 7: is so devoid. It's not like the seventy six Bucks
- 41:30Speaker 7: are walking in and they have no shot. Any game
- 41:32Speaker 7: they play. The Patriots will have a chance to win
- 41:35Speaker 7: all their games. They'll be underdogs probably and maybe all
- 41:40Speaker 7: of them.
- 41:40Speaker 3: I believe they are currently underdogs in every game.
- 41:42Speaker 7: You know, but the margin of difference to me between
- 41:46Speaker 7: really good and really bad in the NFL is not
- 41:48Speaker 7: that great. I know that sounds silly, but it's good.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Good season shot the world gonna shot the world like
- 41:55Speaker 2: the Red Sox, Pretty your Boys, your Fun Bunch. They're
- 41:58Speaker 2: playing well.
- 41:59Speaker 7: Marky Mock and the Fun Bunch playing well.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Although I see I was one of the first on
- 42:03Speaker 2: the band to say that they're a fun team.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Are you off?
- 42:06Speaker 2: No, I'm not off, but I'm seeing a couple of
- 42:10Speaker 2: chinks that other people aren't seeing.
- 42:12Speaker 7: I definitely have my concerns, but I tend to look
- 42:15Speaker 7: at that.
- 42:16Speaker 2: No, I see how losing a little bit of movement
- 42:19Speaker 2: from left from right to left.
- 42:22Speaker 3: They're not the sweeper sweepers not.
- 42:25Speaker 2: It doesn't seem to have the sharpness that it had earlier.
- 42:27Speaker 7: So it's all about workload. These guys have already established
- 42:30Speaker 7: their career highs Crawford, how although I have severe concerns
- 42:36Speaker 7: about those guys, and I think the bullpen is getting
- 42:38Speaker 7: worked into the ground. Yeah, which you've already seen a
- 42:41Speaker 7: lot of these guys on the d L Martin Slayton
- 42:44Speaker 7: or on the d L Now I think, yeah, so
- 42:45Speaker 7: I have that right.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see what happens. The All Star break will help.
- 42:49Speaker 3: That always helps. But can we go from being a
- 42:53Speaker 3: fun bunch to a real contender? Can we can we stop?
- 42:56Speaker 7: Well, that's that's up to Craig Bresler, right, But it.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Just feels like I kind of feel the same way
- 43:01Speaker 3: sometimes about the Patriots, but I can be realistic about
- 43:04Speaker 3: where they're at organizationally. The Red Sox should not be
- 43:07Speaker 3: the Kansas City Royals. They're not a fun team. They
- 43:11Speaker 3: are a big market ball club. But it was fun. No,
- 43:15Speaker 3: they can be fun, but that shouldn't be the feeling.
- 43:19Speaker 3: They had a fun.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Season, but you know, like you should be like a
- 43:22Speaker 2: lot of what I see. I'm not as hard on
- 43:24Speaker 2: the Patriots ownership, I mean the Red Sox ownership as
- 43:28Speaker 2: a lot of people are, because it seems to me like, yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 2: they didn't get some of the top guys. They didn't
- 43:34Speaker 2: get Otani. I don't even know if they were going
- 43:36Speaker 2: after him. But you know, over the last couple of years,
- 43:40Speaker 2: they brought in guys like Trevor Story, who's heard they
- 43:42Speaker 2: brought in like at least two other big name free
- 43:45Speaker 2: agents who are hurt.
- 43:46Speaker 7: But Trevor Story is a big name free agent they
- 43:50Speaker 7: brought in and got hurt. The other guys they got
- 43:53Speaker 7: guys that no one else wanted. That's the only one.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Like the Yoshida, No, not Yoshida.
- 43:58Speaker 7: They were roundly pants and oh, by the way, he
- 44:01Speaker 7: stinks except for one night in New York.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Who was a gmlun was a fun game. What's the
- 44:07Speaker 2: pitcher's name that that got hurt right away? Jimmelli or yeah, Gilio.
- 44:13Speaker 7: No one wanted them. He was the one of the
- 44:15Speaker 7: worst starting pitchers in baseball last year.
- 44:17Speaker 2: I thought he was pretty good.
- 44:18Speaker 7: He was like five years ago for the White Sox.
- 44:22Speaker 7: But he's been hurt. The point is just, well, he's
- 44:25Speaker 7: been ineffective. Now he's hurt. I'm sorry.
- 44:27Speaker 3: It's been a fun first half of the season for
- 44:29Speaker 3: the Red Sox. Yeah, but now for me to take
- 44:31Speaker 3: them seriously, we have to go from fun to actually
- 44:34Speaker 3: In order.
- 44:35Speaker 7: To do that, they need to add to the roster.
- 44:38Speaker 7: This roster cannot play better than it played.
- 44:40Speaker 2: But I think I think though that the Patriots ownership
- 44:43Speaker 2: mentality going into the season is we've got a lot
- 44:47Speaker 2: of injuries to keep players, We're not going to be
- 44:49Speaker 2: that good. And I think they've been taken by surprise
- 44:53Speaker 2: by how good they're doing. Not just us, but I
- 44:55Speaker 2: think ownership was, and I think they're just a little
- 44:58Speaker 2: bit slow to the table about Okay, this team is worthy.
- 45:02Speaker 7: A little upset about it.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Well, maybe this team is worth investing in. I think
- 45:07Speaker 2: they've just been a little bit slower than the fans
- 45:10Speaker 2: are because we all like, let's go. But I think
- 45:13Speaker 2: they're looking at this a little bit more, you know, right,
- 45:17Speaker 2: you know, with calculation tied to it. We're just emotional.
- 45:20Speaker 7: Well, for some reason, people thought when they were playing
- 45:23Speaker 7: five hundred that they were overachieving. They're overachieving now at
- 45:27Speaker 7: eleven games over five hundred, But for the first two
- 45:29Speaker 7: and a half months of the season, they played like
- 45:31Speaker 7: everybody thought they were going to play. They're gonna win
- 45:33Speaker 7: some and lose some. Then they started just winning them. Yeah,
- 45:36Speaker 7: Like I don't want to say that, like seventeen and
- 45:38Speaker 7: seven in the last twenty four games. I mean that's
- 45:41Speaker 7: better than yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 2: But I think bringing in another start, bringing in a
- 45:45Speaker 2: right handed bat, I think obviously it's going to hurt them.
- 45:48Speaker 2: And when I hear players saying that, then I think
- 45:51Speaker 2: ownership really needs to do it. Because there's one thing.
- 45:55Speaker 2: There's one aspect of the argument where it's like the
- 45:57Speaker 2: players are like, no, we've got a good team. You
- 45:59Speaker 2: know what they you bring in players you don't think
- 46:01Speaker 2: we're good enough, but I think you hear players saying
- 46:04Speaker 2: we could use one more starter in a right handed bat.
- 46:06Speaker 7: And this is the same story that they've been telling
- 46:08Speaker 7: the last two years. Jansen Dever's Cora. They've been openly
- 46:15Speaker 7: begging Heim Bloom to do something. So now there's a
- 46:18Speaker 7: new guy there. It's Breslo now, so let's see. I know,
- 46:21Speaker 7: but let's see if he does anything different.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Nests and interviews are brutal.
- 46:24Speaker 7: Let's see if he does anything different, and I would
- 46:28Speaker 7: change my tune in a hurry and stop mocking you
- 46:31Speaker 7: if they do. If they bring in a you know,
- 46:35Speaker 7: bring in a starting pitcher and maybe you know, a
- 46:38Speaker 7: right handed bat, and I would look at the team,
- 46:42Speaker 7: you know significant I'm not just talking about.
- 46:44Speaker 3: You are trading any of the big three in them.
- 46:46Speaker 7: I would absolutely if you could get that kid from
- 46:49Speaker 7: that everybody loves Crochet from the White Sox. I would
- 46:52Speaker 7: trade Meyer for him. I know you're not getting him
- 46:55Speaker 7: from Meyer, but I would that would definitely be interested.
- 46:59Speaker 3: I feel like Meyer at this at some point.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 47:03Speaker 3: I hate the baseball minor league system. It just tries
- 47:06Speaker 3: me absolutely nuts because we just take forever for these
- 47:08Speaker 3: guys to get to the major leagues, and I keep
- 47:11Speaker 3: hearing about how Myer's having a great season in Portland
- 47:15Speaker 3: or wherever the heck he's playing, and it's like, but
- 47:17Speaker 3: does that mean anything?
- 47:18Speaker 2: You know?
- 47:18Speaker 3: Is he gonna be Is he actually gonna be good
- 47:20Speaker 3: in the big league?
- 47:20Speaker 7: So before I went away, I got a chance to
- 47:22Speaker 7: do a show with Matt McCarthy and and then you
- 47:25Speaker 7: get Trevor Millikan and they're like these sime heads what
- 47:28Speaker 7: I just call him, Trevor Millian, Tyler Millikan. I apologize
- 47:31Speaker 7: because I really like Tyler. That was bad, But they'll
- 47:35Speaker 7: get you all whooped up, Like to what Evan's talking about.
- 47:39Speaker 7: All these guys in the minor league farm everywhere, you know,
- 47:42Speaker 7: and they have log jams at some of these middle
- 47:44Speaker 7: endfield positions. I don't know who's The hard part about
- 47:49Speaker 7: being a GM is identifying which ones of these guys
- 47:51Speaker 7: are gonna be worth keeping and which ones that you
- 47:54Speaker 7: can live with. And that's what Dombrowski was excellent at.
- 47:57Speaker 7: Every guy he traded turned out to be average at best,
- 48:01Speaker 7: in most cases, not good at all, and he was
- 48:04Speaker 7: able to make moves to augment the major league roster
- 48:08Speaker 7: while not really losing anything for the future. That's what
- 48:11Speaker 7: you have to do. Breslo's got to figure out is
- 48:14Speaker 7: it Meyer, is it Roman? Anthony? Is it Teal? I
- 48:17Speaker 7: mean it wouldn't be tealed. That's too much.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I just like having fun watching.
- 48:19Speaker 7: I don't get into Fred, Marky, Mark and the fun Bunch.
- 48:23Speaker 3: These are the guys that they.
- 48:26Speaker 7: Anybody could tell me they've been playing well for the
- 48:28Speaker 7: last month. Fred told me before they were playing well
- 48:30Speaker 7: that they're they're they're turning the corner. They're fun to watch,
- 48:33Speaker 7: and they were fun to watch. You were right. I
- 48:35Speaker 7: was wrong yet again.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Austin's in Illinois on the ACE ticket hotline, What's up Austin.
- 48:42Speaker 7: Austin Austin three to sixteen?
- 48:46Speaker 2: He wasn't. He was only on the phone for like
- 48:48Speaker 2: ten minutes, all right. Lots of lots of emails coming
- 48:53Speaker 2: in at web Radio at pages dot com. Kyle and
- 48:56Speaker 2: Pembroke wants to give Evan his flowers. Out of boredom,
- 49:01Speaker 2: I've decided to start rewatching your old Tuesday shows following
- 49:05Speaker 2: the games of last season. After Week one, Evan was
- 49:09Speaker 2: critical of the offense, even though most people were hopeful
- 49:12Speaker 2: and got killed for it by the fans. As one
- 49:15Speaker 2: of the fans who killed him for it. I want
- 49:17Speaker 2: to apologize to Evan and give him his flowers about
- 49:20Speaker 2: his analysis of the team. This year, I'm going to
- 49:23Speaker 2: try to be better about listening to Evan in his analysis.
- 49:26Speaker 3: Wow, I appreciate that. I do. Yeah, I apologize. Film
- 49:31Speaker 3: don't lie. That's all I'll say about that.
- 49:34Speaker 7: Okay, all right, my eyes don't either. They have two
- 49:37Speaker 7: great drives in that game.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Sean of Vancouver. Drake May will have to be better
- 49:42Speaker 2: than c J. Stroud for New England to make the playoffs.
- 49:45Speaker 2: The twenty twenty three Houston Texans had a much better
- 49:48Speaker 2: offensive line. Stroud had time in the pocket. Drake May
- 49:52Speaker 2: would have to be like year two Patrick Mahomes for
- 49:55Speaker 2: the Patriots to win more than nine games.
- 49:58Speaker 7: I really, I'm not going to get boged down in that.
- 50:01Speaker 2: But did CJ. Stroud make the line look better? Because
- 50:04Speaker 2: quarterbacks can do that too.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I think that the notion that the twenty three Texans
- 50:09Speaker 3: for this wagon that just were waiting for, you know,
- 50:13Speaker 3: a quarterback that was competent is I just don't understand.
- 50:16Speaker 7: I would agree they have they had a better offensive line.
- 50:18Speaker 7: I a little bit. You know, Tunsil in Shaq Mason
- 50:21Speaker 7: alone make it better.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Tunzel makes it better. But I feel like the Patriots
- 50:26Speaker 3: have guards that are on I don't.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:28Speaker 7: I mean the two left guards were among the lowest
- 50:31Speaker 7: ranked in football last year in pass blocking, so I
- 50:35Speaker 7: think that was an issue. But I'm with Evan. The
- 50:39Speaker 7: guy I always throw out there is Nico Collins. Nico
- 50:41Speaker 7: Collins suddenly now was Jamar Chase, and I think that's Stroud,
- 50:46Speaker 7: not Nico Collins.
- 50:48Speaker 2: El from Wisconsin. I've been listening to a bunch of
- 50:50Speaker 2: talk radio, not just you, but all I can say
- 50:53Speaker 2: is that I can't wait to have five Hall of
- 50:55Speaker 2: Fame players on the old line so we can see
- 50:58Speaker 2: May finally play. Good point. Good point, okay, because it
- 51:05Speaker 2: does seem like some people on radio aren't going to
- 51:08Speaker 2: be comfortable having May out there until we have the
- 51:10Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys offensive line.
- 51:12Speaker 7: Important to see how he performs behind less than ideal.
- 51:16Speaker 3: I would just like a competent offensive line. I'm not
- 51:18Speaker 3: asking them to be the nineteen nineties Dallas Cowboys. I'm
- 51:21Speaker 3: just asking him to be competent. Can we see how
- 51:24Speaker 3: it looks like for the next month before we and
- 51:27Speaker 3: see if it's at least serviceable.
- 51:29Speaker 2: When's the last time, in your opinion, the Patriots had
- 51:32Speaker 2: a competent offensive line twenty one?
- 51:34Speaker 3: They were good in twenty one, and Carlen Brisilla went
- 51:37Speaker 3: with Josh to Vegas and it fell apart from there.
- 51:41Speaker 3: They were a competent offensive line in twenty one. But
- 51:44Speaker 3: that's all I'm looking for. No one's saying that they
- 51:46Speaker 3: have to be I know that they're being sarcastic, but
- 51:48Speaker 3: no one's saying that it needs to be a top
- 51:50Speaker 3: five offensive line in football to put Drake May in there.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Can it just not be horrible? Like? Can we be
- 51:55Speaker 3: middle of the pack.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Tim's in Boston on the a stick of the hot line?
- 52:01Speaker 2: What's up? Tim?
- 52:03Speaker 5: Hey?
- 52:03Speaker 10: Everyone?
- 52:04Speaker 11: I was calling it in TX SOX. I'm glad you
- 52:05Speaker 11: guys got to that. But looking at the you know,
- 52:08Speaker 11: we just drafted this guy brand in Montgomery. It was
- 52:10Speaker 11: supposed to be a top prospect. If you didn't get hurt.
- 52:13Speaker 11: He'll take a while to come back. But our out
- 52:16Speaker 11: o the future is looking really sacked. You have bre Durant, Ralphayela,
- 52:19Speaker 11: and of course Roman Anthony Christian Campbell now Montgomery. It's
- 52:23Speaker 11: really looking to jam up, and I think we can
- 52:25Speaker 11: move someone like Roman Anthony to get like a real
- 52:27Speaker 11: bona fide starter at the deadline.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, oh you invited this. I know I agree,
- 52:33Speaker 2: but I I I actually called to talk sacks. Good Tim.
- 52:37Speaker 3: I think thanks for the Tim is saying what we're
- 52:39Speaker 3: all saying that. But to me, it's like I've been
- 52:42Speaker 3: hearing about Red Sox prospects my whole life, Lars Anderson,
- 52:46Speaker 3: Blake Swihart, like.
- 52:48Speaker 7: Like I've been hearing about I'll go back to Donnie Sadler.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Yeah, like all of my life, I've been hearing about
- 52:52Speaker 3: how oh they have this guy in the miners.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Look, aren't there a lot of guys on the team
- 52:55Speaker 2: right now that we're prospects at one point for the
- 52:57Speaker 2: Red Sox.
- 52:58Speaker 7: Yeah, Jared Durant really and again, Jared Darina is a
- 53:01Speaker 7: lot older than you know.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Nobody was. He started in the Red Sox system and
- 53:06Speaker 2: they stuck with him.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he was a.
- 53:11Speaker 7: Seventeen evers I would say, is yeah, yeah, but again,
- 53:16Speaker 7: how none of these guys under this regime.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I don't care what. It's the same farm system.
- 53:22Speaker 7: No, it's not.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Farm system. Every time they have a new regime.
- 53:27Speaker 7: They're all Dombrowski guys. So the guys that Bloom got
- 53:32Speaker 7: are not these guys. Okay, that's my point, right, So
- 53:35Speaker 7: it's gonna run dry unless they're good at it.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Mayor is a Bloom guy.
- 53:39Speaker 7: Drafted right, Mayor, Anthony and Teal are all Bloom guys,
- 53:44Speaker 7: I believe. But all the guys in the major leagues
- 53:46Speaker 7: were all Doombrowski.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so's it's just a question of I thought I
- 53:51Speaker 2: thought THEO that was one of his strengths. And he's
- 53:54Speaker 2: still associated.
- 53:54Speaker 7: He's not really associated with the Red Sox.
- 53:56Speaker 2: He is.
- 53:56Speaker 7: He's associated with the Fenway group, the sports group.
- 53:59Speaker 2: Okay, you don't think he has any.
- 54:01Speaker 7: The word is that he's looking to get into ownership,
- 54:04Speaker 7: the ownership side of things. I don't think he has
- 54:06Speaker 7: a lot to do with baseball, surprising.
- 54:09Speaker 3: I think maybe some advisors, you know, maybe some advisory
- 54:13Speaker 3: if they asked for it. I'm sure he would. But
- 54:16Speaker 3: we'll see, we'll see if these guys s pan out.
- 54:18Speaker 7: But yeah, they have to identify a good prospect that
- 54:23Speaker 7: they're willing to do what Tim said to get to
- 54:26Speaker 7: get a quality arm. That Garrett Crochet from Chicago, I
- 54:31Speaker 7: think would be absolutely worth putting a package of top
- 54:34Speaker 7: prospects together to get who's a young, controllable quality arm.
- 54:39Speaker 2: By the way, since we're talking about baseball, I think
- 54:42Speaker 2: we can bring this up. Oh wow, home run derby.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Am I the only person who kind of thinks it's boring? No?
- 54:52Speaker 7: I I've been out on home run derby for a
- 54:54Speaker 7: while because it takes too long. I do like some
- 54:58Speaker 7: of the tinkering they did with the clock last night,
- 55:01Speaker 7: and I did find it. I mean, the championship was compelling.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Right once you get to that point, yeah, right, But
- 55:07Speaker 2: it takes a long time to get to that point.
- 55:09Speaker 7: And they've also taken a lot of time to get
- 55:11Speaker 7: to this point where they they limit the first round
- 55:14Speaker 7: of three minutes. It's three minutes per battery, which that's
- 55:18Speaker 7: what needs to be Yeah, but I used to do
- 55:19Speaker 7: the ten out thing. It took forever.
- 55:21Speaker 2: But you know, once you see like the first couple
- 55:23Speaker 2: of batters, it's like all the same and you just
- 55:25Speaker 2: wait until the year. Yeah, you just wait until the end.
- 55:28Speaker 3: I don't like the clock.
- 55:29Speaker 2: You don't like the clock?
- 55:30Speaker 3: No, I liked it when I was a kid ten outs.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Everybody gets ten outs.
- 55:35Speaker 2: It just takes kids into it.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I wonder how I don't think kids are into it anymore.
- 55:40Speaker 7: They could care less didn't even though it was going
- 55:42Speaker 7: on the year that Josh Hamilton hit like nine million
- 55:45Speaker 7: home runs, I was that was pretty cool. And then
- 55:47Speaker 7: the year that was in Fenway.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Yeah, years ago, that's going. But I really think you
- 55:53Speaker 2: know what happened right after that, I came to work
- 55:55Speaker 2: for friends other than like Pete Alonzo, who seems to
- 55:57Speaker 2: be in it every year. It's turned into the dunk
- 56:00Speaker 2: test where the big stars don't do it. You know.
- 56:03Speaker 7: Yeah, not a lot of people want to do it. Yeah,
- 56:05Speaker 7: because they say they claim it effects.
- 56:09Speaker 2: It probably does, because you're swinging a different way, the
- 56:11Speaker 2: different speed, the whole thing. You know.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Who would you want Devors to do it?
- 56:15Speaker 2: I would, but I don't blame him for not doing it.
- 56:17Speaker 7: Yeah, I wouldn't mind it.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, we're gonna take a break. My food's here,

- 57:40Speaker 7: What's up?
- 57:41Speaker 6: Everybody, Maddie here once again throwing it back to our
- 57:43Speaker 6: Pats from the Past series. Here's a snippet from the
- 57:45Speaker 6: episode with Rodney Harrison.
- 57:47Speaker 13: It's time for another episode to Patch from the Pats podcast.
- 57:50Speaker 13: Macksmith Paul Frillow joined by number thirty seven on your scorecard,
- 57:54Speaker 13: but number one in our hearts at least.
- 57:56Speaker 7: Rodney Harrison.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Harrod, how you doing, man, man? I am doing great.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Good to be home, good to see you guys, and
- 58:03Speaker 1: looking for a great Patriots game tonight.
- 58:05Speaker 13: How's it going with NBC? Rodney, you still love it?
- 58:08Speaker 2: I do. I'm very passionate about it.
- 58:10Speaker 1: I spent twelve years in the studio and then the
- 58:13Speaker 1: last three years I've been out at the field location
- 58:17Speaker 1: and was just really extremely excited for Devin mccordy getting
- 58:20Speaker 1: the opportunity that he got. NBC likes Patriot guys, and
- 58:24Speaker 1: he's smart and he's doing a wonderful job. Really proud
- 58:27Speaker 1: of him.
- 58:27Speaker 13: Before we started here, I was actually thinking about this.
- 58:30Speaker 13: Here comes Rodney Harrison driving into Patriot Place, a drive
- 58:34Speaker 13: that you are familiar with for many, many times, but
- 58:37Speaker 13: you're in a different partner of your life. I am
- 58:39Speaker 13: when you're driving in here, Rodney, what goes through your mind?
- 58:42Speaker 1: Just so many great memories, Just the opportunity to be
- 58:46Speaker 1: able to come out here and play, and Coach Bill
- 58:49Speaker 1: and Robert Kraft giving me the opportunity to come out
- 58:51Speaker 1: here and really just be part of something special, and
- 58:54Speaker 1: all the great players that I played with. But also,
- 58:57Speaker 1: you know, just riding over here with Tony Dundee brought
- 59:00Speaker 1: up some great memories of us just kicking the coach
- 59:02Speaker 1: butt and just bonding together as a team, and just
- 59:05Speaker 1: all those hard practices in the rain, in the snow,
- 59:10Speaker 1: and just it gave me a greater appreciation for everything
- 59:13Speaker 1: that we've accomplished, because it's very difficult to do.
- 59:15Speaker 7: Yeah, we were joking around just before we started. My
- 59:18Speaker 7: guess is that Tony's memories quite as warman fuzzy as yours.
- 59:22Speaker 7: You know, for September, it couldn't be a more perfect night.
- 59:25Speaker 7: He was probably wondering why it's not snowing as he
- 59:28Speaker 7: was driving in.
- 59:29Speaker 1: But I'll tell you this man, just talking to Coach,
- 59:31Speaker 1: he has a lot of respect for the Patriots organization,
- 59:34Speaker 1: Coach Bill, and everything that we've accomplished. And I mean
- 59:37Speaker 1: those battles were epic. You know you're talking about going
- 59:40Speaker 1: against Dungee and how well prepared he had his team,
- 59:43Speaker 1: Peyton Manning, all the great players that they had. I mean,
- 59:46Speaker 1: I can't believe I'm fifty years old when I want here, brother,
- 59:51Speaker 1: I was, you know, twenty nine years old and now
- 59:53Speaker 1: I'm fifty. And just like you talked about different part
- 59:56Speaker 1: with kids. I got a sun that plays for the
- 59:58Speaker 1: University of Tennessee who got their butts k yesterday. But
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: it's just really nice to be back, and it's nice
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: to see you guys still, you know, talking football.
- 1:00:07Speaker 13: Appreciate that. Appreciate that. So I'm gonna put you on
- 1:00:09Speaker 13: the spot a little bit here as you're waxing nostalgia
- 1:00:12Speaker 13: and it's amazing what life. You know, it's amazing what
- 1:00:15Speaker 13: life is. But who would have ever thought fifteen years
- 1:00:18Speaker 13: ago that you and Tony Dungee would be together on
- 1:00:21Speaker 13: a broadcast and doing that. That's a small world, but
- 1:00:24Speaker 13: your lives intertect like that. Do you have a favorite
- 1:00:28Speaker 13: memory here at this stadium? Obviously you want a super
- 1:00:31Speaker 13: Bowl in Houston? Do you want a super Bowl in Jacksonville?
- 1:00:35Speaker 13: And those are things that I got a believer at
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: the pinnacle of your professional football career here at you
- 1:00:40Speaker 13: let Rodney, is there something special that you remember that
- 1:00:42Speaker 13: that takes a cake of the ultimate memory that you
- 1:00:45Speaker 13: might have.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I think, I don't know, I don't remember the exact game,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: but just when Coach Belichick, I think it was when
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: it was an AFC championship game, when he gave me
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: a big hug and say I'm glad we got you here.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: That was a very special moment because all I ever
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: wanted to do was make him proud of me and
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: let him know that the decision that he you know
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: that he made bringing me here, that that wasn't a
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: bad decision, and he gave me an opportunity when so
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: many around the league kind of frowned upon Rodney Harrison.
- 1:01:15Speaker 7: He believed in me.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: He gave me a bunch of freedom where I can
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: go out there and just play and express myself. And
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: I just couldn't love love a coach more than I
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: got love for Coach Belichick.
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: You talk about that freedom that he gave you, and
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: I wanted to ask you about And it was one
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: of the two playoff games. I'm not sure if it
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: was three or oh four, but when you and Ty
- 1:01:34Speaker 7: sort of It must have been on three, because I
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: don't think he had three picks. Yeah, and you guys
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: kind of swapped like you were kind of up in
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: like the corner spot, like popping guys and a loud
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: tie to you know, just that kind of freedom. Was
- 1:01:45Speaker 7: that something that you guys had spoken about before?
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: And He's he never really questioned. He said, hey, you
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: guys kind of do what you want to do as
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: long as you're in a proper spot and you guys communicate,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and and that's the type of freedom that he allows
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: veteran players, guys that he trusts. We put so much
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: hard work and effort in and preparations, so when we
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: did something like that, I know he's on the sideline panicking,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: But you know, Ty Law and I I mean to
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: be able to play with a guy like ty a
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Hall of famer, you know, and Richard Seymour and Vince
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: will Forking those guys, I mean, I had some special
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: players out in San Diego. But to be able to
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: play with some Hall of famers and some guys like
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Willie McGinn as, Kevin Fulk, Troy Brown, I mean, these
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: guys are legends. These guys are not only are they
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: brilliant football players. They're very smart people and to be
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: able to have that opportunity was just truly a blessing.
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: And don't tell yourself short. You had the probably the
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: biggest pick of that game when they went right down
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: the field the first drive you had the interception in
- 1:02:39Speaker 7: the end zone. Right, Is that how that all started? Well,
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: stepped in front of Polly.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: We all try to set the tone and it's not
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: about one player, It's about the team.
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: And you know, I can't.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I got to mention my boy Tom Brady. You know,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: just seeing Tom get the love that he got last week,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: coming back to the stadium him and just seeing how
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: old of a man he was.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: You see how tired that dude was. He was tired,
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: breathing hard. I thought TV twelve four.
- 1:03:08Speaker 13: Now look at Ruddie. I mean, you're you've got a
- 1:03:10Speaker 13: job that takes you to Where were you last Sunday?
- 1:03:12Speaker 13: You're in New York right for the Giants Dallas game
- 1:03:14Speaker 13: Kansas City before that. Yeah, and I don't know if
- 1:03:16Speaker 13: you saw this. Did you see the guys on the
- 1:03:18Speaker 13: sideline that were there. You mentioned Kevin Falk earlier, Kevin
- 1:03:22Speaker 13: Fox in the front where all the former players were
- 1:03:26Speaker 13: and he's chanting Brady Brady Bred. There's Dan Graham, you know,
- 1:03:33Speaker 13: Kevin Fok, Darrell Reeves came back for the game to
- 1:03:37Speaker 13: see that kind of close knit pet Rush Hokestein, you know,
- 1:03:41Speaker 13: Dan copen A. See all those guys coming back to
- 1:03:45Speaker 13: just want to appreciate Tom. That made somebody who's been
- 1:03:48Speaker 13: here for a long time. Made me feel good because
- 1:03:50Speaker 13: that means it's important to these people to be there.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: And it also shows you how much of an impact
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Tom has had, not only just on the guys that
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: he works with, you know, as far as the offense,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: but everybody. I mean, Tom has made such an impact.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: When I came here, we used to have lunch together.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: We used to sit down and have conversations and just
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: talk about life, talk about perspective. And I just see,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: you know, Tom, twenty years later, he's you can see
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: his personality. You see him smiling, laughing and being the
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: genuine funny guy that we saw everybody else.
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: Man, is this guy a robot?
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Does he ever smile? Does he have any emotion? But
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: now since he's retired, he could take a deep breath.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: He's gone through a lot and now you know, he's
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: just living his best life.
- 1:04:32Speaker 7: What has it been like working with with Devin? You
- 1:04:34Speaker 7: know you have mentioned that you have all the former
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: Patriots coming back. What's it like been a teammate with
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: him now?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Just a very humble young man, a guy that has
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: such a beautiful future. I mean, he was a heck
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: of a football player, great free safety. I think he
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: was the best free safety that played under Belichick in
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: the Patriots uniform. A guy that it matters to him
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: and you can tell with his preparation the conversations that
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: we've had. I try to offer him a little bit
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: of advice, but just a family man, great husband. I'm
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: just extremely proud.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: I never thought that NBC would give another Patriots safety
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: and opportunity. So I felt really proud of that because
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I take pride in my job. I take pride in
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: trying to do the right thing, being consistent. It's been
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: fifteen years and people, look, oh, what happened to You're
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: not in the studio. Well, God had something different from me.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: I went from the studio to being on the field
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: where I can interact with players, coaches, general managers and
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: just being so close to the game and Devon's doing
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: such a wonderful job in the studio. Come on, man,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: two Patriots doing Sunday night football.
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: Maybe maybe NBC knew what a tandem that would have been.
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: Oh my god, with the free safety like dev and
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: then the old school right.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I definitely wanted his contract, but oh yeah.
- 1:05:49Speaker 13: Yeah, it's not a big, simple size Rodney and your student.
- 1:05:53Speaker 13: You're so you're watching everything. How have they done? And
- 1:05:55Speaker 13: you don't replace Devin mccordy. You don't replace Rodney having
- 1:05:58Speaker 13: So how what have you see that they're trying to
- 1:06:01Speaker 13: do because he was such an integral part of the communication,
- 1:06:04Speaker 13: making sure that everybody's on the right spot and everything
- 1:06:06Speaker 13: like that. What have you seen as they're trying to.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Replace, Well, I think the players that they get. Obviously,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: you can't just learn one position. You have to be
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: able to learn multiple positions. And if you can't communicate,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: you can't play with the Patriots. I don't care if
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: you're a corner, because at times, even if you're a corner.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Marcus Jones, he's playing safety sometimes. You know, Kyle Duggart,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: he's playing deep middle part of the field, but he's
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: also played linebacker. But he's also playing strong safety in
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: the box. So you have to be able to know
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: and be able to communicate multiple positions. And when I
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: come off the field, I have to be able to say, okay, guys,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: this is what happened at the linebacker position, but also
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: be able to switch my mindset to this is what
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: happened at the nickel spot. So these guys are smart.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: They all communicate and they know that they have to
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: be efficient at every position that they play.
- 1:06:48Speaker 14: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:06:53Speaker 14: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:06:56Speaker 14: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx. Where
- 1:07:00Speaker 14: now mean's next for residential delivery only?
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: And now great moments in history. This is at Saint
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Thomas the Apostle School in New Jersey. Ronald Robinson, he
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: came back to what happens was we would always have
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: There was always two groups. One group played keep away
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: and then the other group would played football. Probably one
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: group was played football. So one time I was in
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: the group playing keep away and Ronald Robinson in the
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: football said, oh, you guys are pussy's playing that game.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I guess we're just going to say everything so then
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: so then a couple of weeks ago, it was opposite.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: We were the ones playing football and they were playing
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: keep away and I said to them, oh, who's who's
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the pussy now? So Ronald Robinson, who was tall at
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: that time, but Finn came, you know, you know, we're like,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: you know, chest to chest. He's like, say that again.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: I'm like, who's the pussy now? And he and he
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: punched me in the jaw, you know. And I remember,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: I can remember this like it was yesterday. I remember thinking,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: you know what, that didn't really hurt that much, and
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: if so, he was just because he said it twice, okay.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: And I was thinking to myself, if I attacked him
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: right now, and I kept myself from doing it, and
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: I shouldn't have. I did the same thing to Richie Campanella.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: I dare him to say something, and I socked him
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: in the stomach and doubled him over. That's another great
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: moment from the tough playgrounds of Catholic School.
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: That might have been your best sequence, Oh, Ronald Robinson
- 1:08:34Speaker 7: and Richie Campanella.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: Oh, I remember there was a lot of alliteration. There
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: was Vincent Valentino, there was Michael Messidi. There was Dwight.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: I forget his name.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: I like Irish your time.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: It was a Catholic school.
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: Anyway.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Uh has your work from home space turned into an
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: everything from home space? Find furniture that fits your life,

- 1:09:19Speaker 2: stylishly with Bob's Discount Furniture, the official furniture store of
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: the New England Patriots. Who writes this copy? Bobby, Yeah,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: it's really hard.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: I agree, it's difficult copy.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Bottom line, if you have a at home office, like
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: a lot of people do, go to Bob's. You get
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: everything you need.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: It's very clear that the people that write the copy
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: don't know what it's like to read the copyright. We
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: could do better, all right.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: What were we talking about before Brendon Ay, Well, we
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: have a couple of things, not necessarily breaking news, but
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: the Patriots issued a press release while we were talking
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: about personnel change changes in the personnel department. I don't
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: know if Evan you want to read those.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Yeah, So, I mean there's a lot in this email
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: or in this we got in an email, but it's
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: also on Patriots dot com, so you can read the
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: whole thing. But I think the two biggest highlights to
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: me are well three. I guess Macro is still here,
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: so that's interesting. Director of player Personnel still he's the
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: number two man in the front office to Elliot wolf
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Patrick Stewart, who we've worked with a couple of times
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: on some things on Patriots dot Com at the Senior
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: Bowl Combine Star Trek. He's been he's been promoted to
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: director of Pro Personnel, so he's now on the pro
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: side of things. And Alonzo high Smith, who the Patriots
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: what's the word hired from the University of Miami. He
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: is now the senior personnel executive. So basically, if the
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Patriots front office was a ticket we'd have Elliott Wolfe, Macro,
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Alonzo high Smith, Patrick Stewart would be the hierarchy there. Okay,
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: So that and Cameron Williams obviously the director of College Cutting,
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: so that would be the the top of the ticket.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: If you will, So a little bit of indication of
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: how things have changed here. We wouldn't find that stuff
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: out until November in the past.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Or ever or ever.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Sometimes. Yeah, So okay, personnel department taking shape or it's
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: taking shape, they're just announcing it. So good stuff.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The only other name I would mention,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: and I'm sorry I might, Butcher his last name is
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: Marshall Ohm. I think that is how you say it.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: And he his new title is a director of Football Strategy,
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: So that to me sounds a lot like director of
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: football Research, which is what Ernie Adams's old title.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Was there for a while. Marshal, Yeah, so I feel
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: like he yeah, he might thought it was wem maybe
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: it right? I always thought was I wonder if he
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: is a when we say strategy, we might be talking
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: about ernilytics, the data part of it.
- 1:12:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. He's a younger guy, bright kid. I
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: met him a couple of times. Yes, all right, so
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: that's that and then the other part that we want
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: to touch on, Yes, Brandon Ayuk has officially asked to
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: be traded.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: Correct, Yeah, Mike Garrifoo ten minutes ago, forty nine Ers
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: All Pro wide receiver Brandon Ayuk has officially requested a
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: trade after an offseason of unsuccessful attempts to reach an
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: extension with San Francisco. So Brandon Nyuk not surprising. Sounds
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: like he wants to go to the Commanders and play
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: with his buddy Jaden Daniels. But I'm sure the forty
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: nine ers are going to trade him.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Whoever, that's going to be a hefty You're gonna have
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: to give up quite a bit because the forty nine
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: ers aren't just gonna let him go, and you're gonna
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: have to pay him quite a bit because that's why
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: he wants to go, correct. So that's that's a tough one.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: I love for the Patriots to be involved. But do
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: you think that the Patriots could say, hey, listen, we'll
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: take Debo. Now you can pay Ayuk.
- 1:13:09Speaker 7: Maybe I'm not as interested in.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: That, You're not as interesting.
- 1:13:13Speaker 7: No, I think I would take you.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: I think Uk has a he's younger, and he has
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: a bigger ceiling at this point in his career.
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: Samuel already has the contract and I think he's on
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: the way down.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Yeah. So but I love I love Deebo seeing.
- 1:13:24Speaker 7: I know you do. You have to You've had a
- 1:13:26Speaker 7: crush on I got a.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Thing for Deebo Samuel. I don't know, he's.
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: Almost as much as Jaron Duran.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: What's wrong with Sharon Duran?
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: Nothing? Nothing wrong with Tembo Samuel.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Every time I mentioned his name, you're like, oh, you know,
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: he's older than you're thinking.
- 1:13:38Speaker 7: Because you people just like think he's a kid. He's
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: like twenty eight.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: It's not that he's a kid in baseball.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's young. He's young at heart. He's young at heart,
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: you know, drive around in that command, you know, Art.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: I feel the same way about Jason.
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: What do we think of Brandon Ayuk in terms of
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: wanting to go to Washington? And I know why, but
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: I think less of that.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Right, So he played at Arizona State with Jaden Daniels
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: just to make sure everybody's on the same page with that,
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: and they're obviously friends.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: So but is this something that people have surmised or
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: has he actually said I'd love to follow?
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: Oh no.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: He literally tweeted a screenshot of a practice rep of
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels's in Washington's OTAs that Daniels must have given
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: him access to somehow. So it's very clear where Brandon
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Ayyuk would like to play football next year in Washington
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: to play with Daniels.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: Okay, so we'll see what happens.
- 1:14:40Speaker 7: The deadline for franchised guys to sign extensions was yesterday
- 1:14:46Speaker 7: and T Higgins did not sign one. So we'll throw
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: another wide receiver into that mix, yep, because he's probably
- 1:14:54Speaker 7: not going to be back with Cincinnati next year. Now
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: he'll play on the franchise tag. He signed it, yep,
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: but probably another guy that could be had a way
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: to make a big deal.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: T Higgins did sign it. Yeah, yeah, said the deadline
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: passed and he had.
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: For him to sign an extension.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Okay, so now he have to play under.
- 1:15:12Speaker 7: One year tag, which I think makes them a valuable commodity.
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what they do with
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: him next off season because those types of receivers don't
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: usually hit unrestricted free agency. You don't usually just let
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: those guys walk for nothing, so do they if they
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: tag him again and then tag and trade at that point,
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: you would at least recoup something if you're the Cincinnati
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: Bengals in a trade.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: So if you're the New England Patriots. So whether it's
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Ayuk or T. Higgins or any other big freak guy
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: that all of a sudden becomes available, is your first
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: round pick in twenty twenty five in play or you're like, no,
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: I'm not trading that.
- 1:15:53Speaker 7: I have to see Drake May. Yeah, if Drake May,
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: does you know some reasonable fact simily of C. J. Stroud,
- 1:16:02Speaker 7: I'd give up a first round pick for one of
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: those guys.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Right because we're ready. Now, we're ready.
- 1:16:07Speaker 7: He's showing you that he's a good players. He needs
- 1:16:10Speaker 7: talent around him, but he's a really good player. He's
- 1:16:12Speaker 7: going to lift those guys.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: And and just remember, folks, when you give up a
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: first round pick, you're not really giving up first round pick.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Sometimes you get the other teams, right.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: And a swap and a swap, Well that wouldn't be
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: this case.
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: But no, yeah, you know, I mean, Cincinnati's not going
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: to give you T Higgins and a first round pick
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: for your first No, I mean unless Mike Brown fell
- 1:16:36Speaker 7: and hit his head or something.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I just feel like the Paul's point about.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Forty nine ers are probably going to have a low
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: first round pick, right, But you're not getting that back.
- 1:16:45Speaker 7: But they're not going to give him how you and
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: a first round pick.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: What if we give him Judah in a first round pick.
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: Well, that's different. Yeah, I still don't think they would
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: do it, but at least now you're given Yeah, Commendvale.
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Just trying to figure out a way to retain a
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: first round pick because I think we want offensive line help, Like,
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: you know, assuming it's Ayuk. Okay, now we got our receiver,
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: we're just fill in with twos and threes, but we
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: still want to make our own line better. It would
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: be great to have a first round pick. Yeah, No,
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: it doesn't have to be top five or I get
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: what you're saying.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Yeah, totally. I feel like the to Paul's point, though,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: if Drake may is good, then your first round pick
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: is no longer a top five pick.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: It feels like a lot to give up a top
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: five pick for Brandon Nayuk and then pay him one hundred.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Million dollars exactly.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: That is a lot, just in terms of resources allocated
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: to one asset. With brand as good as he is,
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: and he's a top ten receiver in the league at
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: this point, I think what separates a guy like Brandon
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: Nyuk from like Deebo is that he gets open one
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: on one in an island, right, Like, he can just
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: win on a route. He doesn't have to be schemed open.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: He doesn't have to be formationed open.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you a question about that, because
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: you're a big All twenty two guy sometimes you know.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: So it's although you know, on Twitter and whatever, there's
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: all these videos of Ayuk and how he just shakes
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: guys off.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: Excellent route runner.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but to me that seems to be freelance. That's
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: just him saying I'm gonna break your ankles. It doesn't
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: look like a route to me. Well, it depends. How
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: hard is it for a quarterback to be able to see,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Oh he just he just left this guy in the dust.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: If it's not part of the route tree.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: Well, it depends. I mean he's got to release package.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: That's excellent.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: So he's very good at the line of scrimmage of
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: getting off press coverage, which is why you don't need
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: to scheme him open, because you can just line him
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: up at the X and just let him go to
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: work and he's gonna get open on his own. But
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: he has landmarks and routes, like if he's running a post,
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: he can use whatever move at the line of scrimmage
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: to get open, you know, to get off the line
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: and get away from contact. But he's still got to
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: get back to them.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: Okay, so there's an end point, yes that as long
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: as you get there, I'm good with I'm the quarterback
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: talking now. As long as you get there, I don't
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: care how you do it, right, I'm just gonna in
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: three seconds, I'm gonna look at that end point and
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: you better be there pretty much, okay.
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: Yeah, Yeah, And the timing is probably not great for
- 1:19:07Speaker 7: the trades in the first place, unless you do what
- 1:19:10Speaker 7: Evan talked about, like these guys somehow get franchised, you know,
- 1:19:15Speaker 7: moving forward, and t Higgins's case, that to me would
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: be highly unlikely because clearly I think Cincinnati's decided they're
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: going to let him go. I don't know how you
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: do it with San Francisco. He's already requesting a trade.
- 1:19:30Speaker 7: He's going to be probably disgruntled as long as he's
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: still on the team if he doesn't get an extension.
- 1:19:36Speaker 7: Maybe this is just one last ditch effort for him
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: to say you're not going to give me an extension,
- 1:19:42Speaker 7: just get rid of me, trade me now.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: Right, So he still has his fifth year option, so
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: he's actually under team control with San Francisco for two
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: more years. So he's under his fourth years this year,
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: and then twenty twenty five is his fifth year option year,
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: so he's actually a Niner for two more years now,
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: and then the franchise tax, so they kind of have almost.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: And he's looking at that and saying, I don't want
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: to wait, so you.
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: Could make the trade next year. I didn't. I wasn't
- 1:20:05Speaker 7: thinking of the fifty year option. But Evan's right, you
- 1:20:08Speaker 7: could do that next year in the off season. You're
- 1:20:10Speaker 7: not going to trade a first round pick now, because
- 1:20:14Speaker 7: now you don't have that knowledge that he's worth trading
- 1:20:17Speaker 7: a first round pick for. Now You're like, you're doing
- 1:20:20Speaker 7: the whole Evment thing where you're potentially trading a top
- 1:20:23Speaker 7: five pick without knowing if your quarterback is any good. Right,
- 1:20:27Speaker 7: And now I have this receiver and what do I
- 1:20:29Speaker 7: do with him? And I have no real high pick
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: in the first round to add town see stuff.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: But again, that just hammers home the point that guys
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: become available in whatever form of fashion. There's always somebody
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: that becomes available. So don't think that rosters are set
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: in July.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: Things happened historically, the year for Brandon and I to
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: get dealt would be next offseason, going into his fifth
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: year off because that way they're it just makes more
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: sense in terms of the timing of the trade. But
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: he's been wanting out for a while now.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: Yeah, so I.
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: Really wonder what's kind of going on over there.
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: For me, I don't know, why would you want to
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: leave San Francisco to go to Washington other Right.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: It's always about money, But what does that say? And
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: that's why to your point?
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think I feel like there's some drama
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: going on. But with the Niners and there, well, that's
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: the thing. You know, a lot of guys at Christian
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: McCaffrey's wedding, we.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: Talked about it. We talked about it last week. With
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: the Patriots, the question isn't why they broke up, it's how.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: The question is how did they keep it together for
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: twenty years?
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: And when you have you know, not that the forty
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: nine ers are one a super Bowl, but when you're
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: a good thing like that and you have a lot
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: of people making a lot of money. The other guys
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: like where's mine? And it's hard to keep people patient
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: and down when you have a lot of good players.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: That's what a lot of them talked about. You know,
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: you start winning those Super Bowls, you start getting success,
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: and everybody from you know, the quarterback down to the
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: executive assistance are where's mine. You know, that's that's the
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: hard part of running a winning organization.
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I wonder if they. I wonder if he's asking
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: for a ridiculous amount of money, and I wonder if
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: maybe they just don't feel like he's on board. Yeah,
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: you know, like we'll give it to you. Like Deebo
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: clearly was willing to do everything for the team. Now
- 1:22:35Speaker 7: he has since sort of pulled back because I think
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: he recognized the wear and terror was causing. Maybe they
- 1:22:41Speaker 7: don't think of Ayuk the same way. And I know
- 1:22:44Speaker 7: it's unfair from three thousand miles away to say, like
- 1:22:47Speaker 7: he wants to go to Washington just because he's friends
- 1:22:49Speaker 7: with Jayden Daniels, Like that's odd to me that someone
- 1:22:52Speaker 7: would want to do that. He can get paid anywhere, Yeah,
- 1:22:56Speaker 7: why does he want to just go play with his friend?
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: Is it really that important to him, or he just
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: wanted to be with his friend.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Is that a bad thing?
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: And if you're motivated by money and hanging out with
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: your friend as opposed to this team that you're on,
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: you're on the cusp of well a lot.
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: I would take him. I mean, I think the guy's
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: a traffic player.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: A lot of times, like guys that are in ayuk
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: situation where now things have gone sour with my existing team.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: You know, it's it's terrible to negotiate. They've insulted me
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: a lot of times. As much as they've been asking
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: for the existing team, they end up taking a little
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: less just to get the hell out of there and
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: make a point, you know, like like I'll go play
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: for the Jets and I don't have to make this.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: I don't have to get the same amount of money
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: I was asking for you because you drove me up
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: actually by insulting me.
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: I just wonder if, like, because to me on the service,
- 1:23:48Speaker 7: it doesn't make any sense that San Francisco wouldn't pay him,
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: Like he's a really good player, he's been productive, he's
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: gotten to the point where most of these guys get
- 1:23:56Speaker 7: an extension. He's you know, you still have the quarterback
- 1:24:01Speaker 7: making nothing. Why wouldn't you do it? You know you
- 1:24:05Speaker 7: don't have a quarterback that you know you're gonna have
- 1:24:08Speaker 7: to pay. I mean, Brock Perdy, if he has another
- 1:24:11Speaker 7: year or two like he had, is gonna get paid.
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: But I don't think he's gonna get paid like Mahomes
- 1:24:16Speaker 7: and Allen and those guys. So it's not like paying
- 1:24:20Speaker 7: Ayuk is going to prevent you from being able to
- 1:24:22Speaker 7: do your quarterback in two years.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: No.
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: I feel like not paying Ayuk is surrounded by Kyle
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: Shanahan probably thinking I can take Ricky Piersoll in the
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: first round. I can make them and I'm gonna make
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: them just as good as Brandon Nayuk. Which this is
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: slippery slope, as we know here that sometimes the guys
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: just know, but maybe I feel like they feel as
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: though it's it's a system. You know, it's an offense.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: It's a system, and I'm I'm plugging play. I'm gonna
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: take Piersol. I think they took him thirtieth or thirty first,
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: whatever their pick was in the first round this year,
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: which sort of was the writing on the wall that somebody,
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: whether it was Debo Brendon nayuk. Someone was going to
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: be the man out there in San Francisco, and it
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: seems like instead of paying Brandon a you thirty million
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: dollars a year, we're just going to draft your replacement
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: and trade you.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: Let's go back to the phone against the McCaffrey, Nate's
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: and Pennsylvania. What's up? NT? Oh?
- 1:25:14Speaker 10: Yeah, Hey, what up you crew?
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: How you doing good?
- 1:25:17Speaker 10: I hate to derail your football conversation with some offseason talk,
- 1:25:20Speaker 10: but I got a quick story and a.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Question for you. All right, Okay, So I had.
- 1:25:26Speaker 10: A Patriots Unfiltered themed dream the other day, which I
- 1:25:29Speaker 10: think is weird to begin with because I've obviously never
- 1:25:31Speaker 10: met any of you, but it happened. I don't know,
- 1:25:34Speaker 10: but here's how it goes. So you guys are doing
- 1:25:36Speaker 10: the show in like a conference room of some sort,
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: and you're you're having typical kind of off season banter,
- 1:25:42Speaker 10: having a good time, and and Jonathan Kraft walks in
- 1:25:45Speaker 10: the room, and for whatever reason, everybody kind of like
- 1:25:48Speaker 10: freezes up and gets kind of awkward and uncomfortable. I
- 1:25:51Speaker 10: don't know if there was just like him breathing down
- 1:25:53Speaker 10: your next whatever. But the funniest thing is Fred kind
- 1:25:58Speaker 10: of without skipping a beat, says, hey, Patriots fans, if
- 1:26:00Speaker 10: you want to see Toyota's best deals, including it's not
- 1:26:02Speaker 10: seen on TV. Kind of just eased everything and then
- 1:26:06Speaker 10: I woke up, So I don't know what that was
- 1:26:07Speaker 10: all about. I just thought it was funny.
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: Were you listening to the show before bed?
- 1:26:11Speaker 10: I don't know. I don't know what it was all about.
- 1:26:13Speaker 7: We can't even get a free car and a drum.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: We're part of their psyche though, she goes.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: See a sleep psychologist. See what this means.
- 1:26:23Speaker 10: But it brings me my question. I visited the pro
- 1:26:25Speaker 10: Shop earlier this year and was admiring all the new
- 1:26:29Speaker 10: construction and that craft group building, And I'm kind of
- 1:26:32Speaker 10: curious if you're allowed to share, like what the office
- 1:26:34Speaker 10: setup is like for you guys, because I remember Alex
- 1:26:37Speaker 10: mentioned last week talking about hard knocks. If it came
- 1:26:39Speaker 10: to the Patriots, she'd actually get to see how like
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: offices are set up in the football area, like how
- 1:26:44Speaker 10: often do you interact with upper management, or like how
- 1:26:46Speaker 10: is your building set up? If you don't mind sharing,
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: thanks guys, Yeah.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: No problem, thanks for calling. Yeah, So, I don't know
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: if anyone that seemed Gillette Stadium. But if you're on
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: the east side of the stadium, there's like a thing
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: that juts out from the bowl and that's where we work.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: And it's well, the actual office space is only two floors.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Everything else is. Then you get to the concourse. Then
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: you get to the club suites, two floors of suites,
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: and then the third level of the upper deck. So
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: the actual offices are only two floors. We're on the
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: second floor and football is on the first floor. And
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: the way it's been up to this point is never
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: the two shall meet. I mean, you never ever used
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: to see coaches or players walking around our floor, and
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: of course we never ever walked around on the first floor.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: It was a complete separation of church and state. Now recently,
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: every once in a while you see Gerad Mayo walking
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: through or some of the other coaches, which I think
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: is great, but still we don't go downstairs to football
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: and check that out.
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: I went down to talk to Gerard, but I was, yeah,
- 1:28:00Speaker 7: I was, unless you, unless you're therefore, you'd never go
- 1:28:04Speaker 7: down on your own. And I can tell you, in
- 1:28:08Speaker 7: all honesty, twenty whatever years, I never saw a bill
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: up in our area ever. Now down where I work now,
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: which is closer to the like the KSP TV studio,
- 1:28:18Speaker 7: I would see Bill every week because he would come
- 1:28:20Speaker 7: in and shoot his illustrator segments for All Access and
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: things like that. But up in admin, I never saw
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: a Bill once. Yeah, once in a while you would
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: see an assistant or two and mostly coaching assistants that
- 1:28:35Speaker 7: would come up and they would they would solicit help
- 1:28:39Speaker 7: sometimes with different kind of visual things that they needed.
- 1:28:42Speaker 7: Michelle muse that one of our art directors used to
- 1:28:45Speaker 7: help them a lot back in the day. And there
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: was the one day that Josh, for whatever reason, Josh
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: McDaniels just happened to be up walking around and he
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: stumbled into my office and Mike came around the corner.
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: It's like it was like when Mike had first started working.
- 1:28:58Speaker 7: He thought that happened all the time. But even that
- 1:29:01Speaker 7: was Jos in your office, Like, oh, I haven't seen
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: him in five years.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Right, But that was just like a few years ago,
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Like you.
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: Know, that was when Mike just started. Yeah, so it
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: was probably like twenty one.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Twenty one, five years, four years ago, three years, But
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: like we've been here for a long time and it
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: just never not in this stadium. Never ever. Yeah. Now,
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: the owner, just for everyone's information, has his own elevator,
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: and that elevator goes down to coaching and goes all
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: the way up to the owner's suite on the blue
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: level and it opens up. It can open up in
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: the club and so it's kind of like a private
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: passageway for him to get up and down the stadium.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: And it's his elevator. So when now Belichick would come
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: up to the owner's office, you know, when Robert called
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: for him, and that's the elevator he takes, so we
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: would never see him. He didn't, you know, take that elevator.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: You don't have to walk through you know, the squad steerage,
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: steerage that where we are. But like I said, it's
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: it's a complete separation of church and state. It's not
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: like the ESPN commercials where we're in the cafeteria eating
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: with the players. That doesn't happen.
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: Some teams not here though, Yeah.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Well I was, well though some teams. But you know,
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: some teams are just football. So it's football PR and content,
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: and here it's football PR, content, community relations, food and
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: beverage marketing. I mean, we're like, because we own our
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: stadium and operate it, which a lot of teams don't,
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: you know, and they have a separate facility where the
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: team works. We're here.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: It's just one building, having your own elevator that goes
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: up to your suite to watch the games.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: A is baller, so it's a flex.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: So I was RKK was really generous to invite a
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: family for a preseason game a couple years ago. This
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: is my first season too, so I'm covering that story
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: in RKK suite. I need to get back down to
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: the field. So someone told me I could use the
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: elevator to go back to the admin level and I'm like, okay, yeah,
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: I know where that comes out.
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: Cool.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: Surely this will go down and bring me to the
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: field too, right, that was my thought in my head.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: So I get into mister Craff's elevator, hit field or whatever. Yeah,
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: the field ground level, go all the way down.
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: It opens up.
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: The first thing I see is a hallway and one
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: door says head coach, the other one says offensive coordinator.
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: And I have never hit a button, so fast, Aboart
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: take me back to the suite. It was so scary,
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: so scary.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: Yeah, now I would think that if that happened, you
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: wouldn't get shot. We're in the past. Yeah, someone would
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: be like.
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: You look lost. Yeah, but it wouldn't be.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: I've never been in the trophy room either. I'd like
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: to change. Oh yeah, oh really, yeah, I've never been.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: I think every employee should get to go in there
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: at least once. We do.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's like a surprise and they're just come.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: That's another cool thing in the I call it the
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: West Wing. But where ownership is, there's like a big
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: lobby where his the receptionist is and in there there's
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: these huge wood doors that open up like sliding doors,
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: not like exactly like sliding doors, and it opens into
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: this room that's beautifully lit. The first thing you see
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: are the six trophies along the side. You see all
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: the AFC championship trophies, the old the hunt ones on
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: the side and the newer silver ones in the other.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Then there's a display for all the rings. Yeah, it's
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: like it's a it's a beautiful room and you know,
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: certain people get to see that when they visit. I
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: think on game day he actually has a reception in there. Uh,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: pre game day for the muckety MUCKs on that list.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: So I think I think that would be good for
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: every employee to be able to have, you know, one
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: day where they get to have a photo shooting there
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: and we could have our photographer take people's pictures.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I just want to stand in there and you know,
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: yeah take it in.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: That's not a bad thing. I mean, we want our
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: employees to want to do that. That's that's cool. So
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: all right, that's your guided tour of our offices.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: It seems like a TikTok or something we can do.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: But I can't emphasize enough the fact that it's not
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: just us and you know, media relations and community relations,
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: but it's food and beverage, which we run food and
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: beverage for not just the games, but three hundred and
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: sixty five you know worth of events throughout the year,
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: everything from birthdays to proms to big trade events. We
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: have concerts coming in. So, I mean, this is a.
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: Working you mentioned we have a whole construction department.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Construction department, legal, human resources there.
- 1:33:41Speaker 7: It this. Yeah, you said that it's not like an
- 1:33:45Speaker 7: ESPN commercial, but in a lot of ways it kind
- 1:33:47Speaker 7: of is. It's just not specifically with the football personnel.
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: We're not like in the break room with the mascot.
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: Right, But there's a lot of stuff that like all
- 1:33:54Speaker 7: of a sudden, you just be working. You look up
- 1:33:56Speaker 7: and you're like, is that Zach Bryan Just.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: Well, yeah, we're just a show and one of the
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: biggest artists in the world right now is doing a
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: sound check casually over there, right.
- 1:34:05Speaker 7: So that can happen in like just in the middle
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: of a normal work day. You never know what's around. Yeah,
- 1:34:11Speaker 7: we just don't generally have that like, oh, did Gered
- 1:34:14Speaker 7: Mayo and Drake may just walk by? No, that doesn't
- 1:34:17Speaker 7: typically happen, So I know it will happen for you
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: guys now that you're downstairs.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Again just to show and I think for some people
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: this is interesting stuff, so I'll keep talking about it.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: But there's the service level, which is like the tunnel,
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: So that's you know, where all the work stuff is.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: You know, stuff's piled up, and when you see the
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: players come on game day for arrivals, they're walking through
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: that tunnel and it's the one place in the stadium
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: that isn't like pretty, it's just a tunnel. You know,
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: golf carts are coming up and down it. The buses
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: from the visiting team come in there. You know, it's
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: it's really a down and dirty place. And when the
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: players walk out to practice, they use the tunnel and
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: they go out to the practice field behind the stadium.
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: In the past, like if you're down there just doing
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: your job and it was time for the players to
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: go to security would come out and I mean literally
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: clear the like you couldn't even be in the tunnel
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: when you would think that the Queen of England was
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: coming through.
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: You try to make yourself scarce. If the players are coming.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: To God forbid you say hello to somebody, I mean,
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: you get yelled at. I think that's changing a little bit.
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: Well on the road, you get it, and we're all going
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: up to our rooms or something like that. And I
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: remember one time I don't say what the players were,
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: but the elevator opened and all these players were getting
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: into the elevator and one of them looks at me
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: and is like, are you coming? And I was like,
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: I'll take the next and he was like, what do
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: you mean? Like it was like so they didn't understand
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: they're they were just completely flabbergast.
- 1:35:46Speaker 7: Like even in Germany, I remember like Joe I wanted
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: to buy his drinks and we're like, I can't. Yeah, right,
- 1:35:53Speaker 7: because I didn't know who was watching. Yeah, yeah, I'm
- 1:35:56Speaker 7: sure Alex and Tamara had a drink.
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: With No one bought me a drink by my own now, But.
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: We've been brought up independent woman.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: Since we were kids.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: Drink much cheap dat I bought.
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: You a drink? Bear you did, We didn't nobody.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: We've been brought up since we were kids that you
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: were not to befriend them. You are not to talk
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: to them.
- 1:36:17Speaker 8: That night.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: When I when I first started Credit Might in ninety five,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: Parcels was the head coach and we had the buses.
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: When you're going you could sit on any bus you
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: wanted and you know, sit with the players and then
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: tell the.
- 1:36:29Speaker 7: Story about your writer who where he tried to sit
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: well with Parcels. You don't have to give his name.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: Well, no, but if if people don't want me to,
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: you know, just send an email safe Fred shot stop
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: but no. Bledsoe's one of the people in Bledsoe's wedding party.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: Bledsoe had just gotten married, So Jonathan Kraft comes back
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: for the wedding and says, hey, we're got, we got
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: to hire this kid for the year. He's Bledsoe's friend.
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: He's in his wedding and so you're got you're gonna
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: have to hire him for the year. So okay, so
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: do And his thing is, you know, I'm a friend
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: of bled cell I'm gonna be a friend of Parcels.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna be his best friend. I'm gonna
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: make myself and his friend. So he would try little
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: things in press conferences and Parcels would just shoot him down.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: So one time we're on the bus and Parcels always
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: sits on the front seat on the right hand side.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: Nobody next to him, just that's his seat. So we're
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: already on the bus, sitting behind there, and this kid
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: says to me, watch this, I'm gonna go sit with Parcels.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I don't think that's a good idea.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: He goes, it'll be fine. So he gets up there
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: and he sits on the seat where Parcels is going
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: to be. Parcels gets on the bus and he says
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: the kid, he goes, no, no. So what he does
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: is he gets up and moves to the seat next
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: to him, parcelsos, get f out of here and that
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: was it. From that point on, now you had designated buses.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: So that's how Bus four started for the Patriots because
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: of this.
- 1:37:59Speaker 7: Guy Bus five.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: But I think all the teams do it. All the
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: teams do it now. But up to that point, we
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: could sit on any bus, and he screwed it for everybody.
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: I actually not that I care. It doesn't matter.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: I actually would prefer not to sit.
- 1:38:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it probably smells, but.
- 1:38:13Speaker 7: They were much more comfortable too. You're not to worry
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: about it.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: There were some funny There was some funny things that
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: went on in those buses that I you know, like
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: just joking around that you wouldn't take part in it,
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: but you would just laugh along, you know.
- 1:38:25Speaker 7: There was my first trip back the first preseason game.
- 1:38:29Speaker 7: We went back and uh we used to go to
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: the logan at the time, and I got off and
- 1:38:35Speaker 7: I just was like, you know, I didn't really know
- 1:38:37Speaker 7: all the procedures and stuff. I actually went in the
- 1:38:40Speaker 7: tunnel because a lot of people would just go like
- 1:38:43Speaker 7: they would go in the airport and get picked up
- 1:38:45Speaker 7: or whatever. I went in and it didn't realize I had,
- 1:38:48Speaker 7: so I came back. So now pretty much everybody's on
- 1:38:51Speaker 7: the buses, and Frank Mendays is there. He goes, Paul,
- 1:38:53Speaker 7: just get on a bus, and I ended up getting
- 1:38:55Speaker 7: on like bus two. Is that with the players?
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: I'm like, you really do feel like.
- 1:39:03Speaker 7: Fred and Brian are on some other butt on bus
- 1:39:06Speaker 7: four at the time, and I remember Willie Cohens. Remember
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: Willie Cohens, I remember the name, like a backup defensive end.
- 1:39:12Speaker 7: It's like an undrafted rookie. And I'm just like sitting
- 1:39:14Speaker 7: next to him. I got his whole life story, the
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: like please just get me out of here, please please
- 1:39:19Speaker 7: get me on it.
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: But I remember you get on the bus and they'd
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: be Curtis Martin like just burying in a Bible, like
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: all that talk about him that was true, like he
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: he was devoted and uh, you know, so you see
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: little things like that that now we don't see anymore,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: you know. But every once in a while a player
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: will get on our bus and like walk on and
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: see then they realize this isn't anybody I know and
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: then gets except for Cadaro Patterson. Remember I didn't travel
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: with Okay, so he sat on our bus on purpose.
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: He didn't want to sit with his teammates in somebody.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: I forget who what it was, but I was right
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: there and hearing this, and he said, why do you
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: sit on our bus? He's like, I don't really like football,
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: that's what he said. Now, of course, since then he's
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: become he's still in the league and producing. But it
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: was like so weird. Maybe it was a put on,
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: but yeah, on game day.
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: Some of the players will come on our bus because
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: we're the usually take the last bus to leave the
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: hotel to go over to the stadium. So right, that's
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: your last call. So some players get on there. And
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: I always take a little note of which players are, Yeah,
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: the ones that are speaking on the bus, you know,
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: as we're about to pull out.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: It's like, and we've had some notable coaches we'll get
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: on that last bus too in the past. Yeah, but
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: that's a little insight. I hope you found it interesting.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: Probably not. Let's go back to the phones. Mark's in Connecticut.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: What's up, Mark? Mark? Was that was that interesting at all? Oh? Hi?
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: Mark?
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: It was okay? Good? Now the floor is yours?
- 1:41:02Speaker 15: I take here.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: In my eyes the left tackle, Yes, I don't know
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: if that's him.
- 1:41:14Speaker 15: Tackle position has to be the second most important position,
- 1:41:20Speaker 15: and I don't understand why we're not at drafting the position.
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: It's a good second guess for sure. I would have
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: thought that, either through free agency or with a high
- 1:41:32Speaker 7: draft pick, well, there would be somebody targeted for a
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: left tackle.
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: And the only thing I can say this kid that
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: they drafted played right tackle. Cane Wallas played right tackle
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: on college. But the guy that was in front of
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: him was the fourth overall pick, right.
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: Hevan you want to take this one?
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well not fourth overall. I think it was
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: like nine or ten.
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: Okay, okay, but do you want to take that?
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: But maybe this guy can play left tackle.
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: So thirty two NFL teams are looking for left tackles,
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: Penn State had two of them. Yeah, Like, does that
- 1:42:04Speaker 7: realistic to you? What do you mean there's not enough
- 1:42:07Speaker 7: left tackles to fill the NFL rosters, but Penn State
- 1:42:10Speaker 7: had two that were that good?
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: Maybe it is.
- 1:42:14Speaker 15: Do you agree though, that it's like the second most
- 1:42:16Speaker 15: important position on the.
- 1:42:18Speaker 10: On the field.
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: No, No, I don't, But it's an important position, So
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: we don't have to get involved in a semantic argument,
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: But yeah, it's it's strange to me that they didn't
- 1:42:28Speaker 7: address it, and I agree the way Evan talks about
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: it all the time. The solution was to take two
- 1:42:34Speaker 7: right tackles and see if one of them can play
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: the left side. One of them is a veteran in
- 1:42:37Speaker 7: a CORPS four and the other one is Kayden Wallace.
- 1:42:40Speaker 7: We have no idea if either one of them can
- 1:42:42Speaker 7: to play at all, let alone left hack.
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: We don't. We don't. But will you be shocked if
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: Kayden Wallace is a competent left tackle? Yes, you will
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: be left tackled.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: Yes, right tackled.
- 1:42:54Speaker 7: No, A third round guy who never played left tackle
- 1:42:57Speaker 7: is going to be a competent.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Why didn't he play left hack? Because he wasn't good enough,
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: He wasn't better than Fasano right, but he was great, well,
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: supposedly greatt How did you go in the third round
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: because he never because he never played You could argue,
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: I could take that argument if he was a projected
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: left tackle coming out and he got taken in like
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: early second round.
- 1:43:19Speaker 7: Yeah, you could sell me on this yeap. By a
- 1:43:22Speaker 7: lot of accounts, he was kind of a reach in
- 1:43:24Speaker 7: the third round.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: Well, all I know is when it comes to left tackle,
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: there's something there that we don't know yet. You know,
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: Like he was a really good right tackle.
- 1:43:32Speaker 7: He was okay, otherwise he wouldn't have been a third
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: round pick.
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: Well, right tackles don't always go that high.
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: He was really good as last year. It took him
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: a while to break out.
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: Bastian Vomo was really good as last year. Didn't even
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: get invited to the combine.
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: Yeah, Bashian Vahmer missed this whole last year with back surgery.
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: Okay, it was a good right tackle, but he's you know, and.
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: He went in a second round.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: I'm just saying that there's like there's a possibility.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: Because everybody thought he was good but healthy, there is
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: a possibility. There's always a possibility. But that being the
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: plan of Chucks a Corps for a career right tackle
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: in the NFL who fell out of favor in Pittsburghen
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: was benched last year in Pittsburgh, then cut by the Steelers,
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: is now signed to the Patriots to be the starting
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: left tackle for the Patriots in Week one to break
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: it in for a rookie who played right tackle in
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: college and is now going to try to play left
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: tackle in the pros is a fair second guess that
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: that's how they address it.
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: Now my bible, anything's possible. Of course it could work.
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: Yeah, in my just to be fair, I didn't really
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: feel like it was possible for them to attack all
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: of their needs in one offseason. They had too many holes.
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: So to realistically go into a draft, and yes, maybe
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: they could have paid a Jonah Williams in free agency
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: was a little bit better than a Corps four, and
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: that would have helped us a little bit more. But
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: to realistically get a franchise quarterback, a number one receiver,
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: and a starting left tack all in the same draft
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: was not going to happen. So if Caden Wallace is
- 1:45:04Speaker 3: a starting right tackle, then great, that's a good third
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: round pick. Sure, if he's a swing tackle, then that's
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: a fine third round picks. Not a great third round pick,
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: but it's an okay third round pick. But if he
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: can start anywhere on the line, then he was a
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: good pick.
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: See. I agree with Evan, I think it was unrealistic
- 1:45:20Speaker 7: to expect you to do that in a draft. I
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: don't think it was unrealistic to expect you to address
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: those spots in the offseason. Yeah, period, And I would
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: just take the word franchise out, like, I don't think
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: it's realistic for anybody to say we're going to get
- 1:45:34Speaker 7: a franchise quarterback, franchise wide receiver, and a franchise left
- 1:45:38Speaker 7: tackle all at once. Right, that's getting pretty fortunate with
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: your personnel they traded down. Maybe you could swing that,
- 1:45:45Speaker 7: but no. But like it didn't have to be in
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: the draft. I think Evan's solution that he just put
- 1:45:50Speaker 7: out Jonah Williams would make me feel a lot better
- 1:45:52Speaker 7: about left tackle. Tyron Smith would make me feel a
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: lot better at left tackle, then a guy who never
- 1:45:58Speaker 7: played left tackle. Right. That's all yep, And yep, it's
- 1:46:03Speaker 7: not like they got the wide receiver.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Either, yep. Teddy from Lowell says, do you think of
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: Chicago as a potential trade partner for Judon? Chicago has
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: been aggressive in trading future picks. They need a pass
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: rusher behind Montes Sweat as they have no depth, and
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: they made a similar move last year. If not Chicago,
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: who else do you think may be interested in for
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: what draft capital in return?
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: Interested in Judon? Yeah, I feel like a lot of
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: contenders would probably be interested in the guy like.
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: Judon, Yeah, e lad pass rushers are Yeah.
- 1:46:39Speaker 7: I think that if Chicago is any good, then that
- 1:46:43Speaker 7: would be something to keep an eye on. But I
- 1:46:45Speaker 7: would think that you could get more from a contender.
- 1:46:48Speaker 7: You might be able to get a higher round pick.
- 1:46:50Speaker 7: Now that might not turn you know, if you got
- 1:46:52Speaker 7: to say, let's just say, for arguments, if you got
- 1:46:54Speaker 7: a second rounder from Kansas City as opposed to a
- 1:46:56Speaker 7: third rounder from Chicago, that might be the difference of
- 1:46:59Speaker 7: only like ten or fifteen picks. So it might not
- 1:47:03Speaker 7: be that much. But if Chicago was good, He's right.
- 1:47:05Speaker 7: They made some aggressive deals last year at the deadline,
- 1:47:09Speaker 7: and we're willing to give up some draft picks to
- 1:47:10Speaker 7: do it. But they also had a ton of draft picks.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: Caleb Williams, he hasn't signed, He hasn't signed yet. What's
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: his deal? What's he looking for?
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: Probably all the guaranteed in the signing bonus.
- 1:47:20Speaker 7: And there's also some I saw Florio write about it.
- 1:47:24Speaker 7: Saw something yesterday on Twitter that the Bears are claiming
- 1:47:29Speaker 7: that I forget which one, but one of them says
- 1:47:32Speaker 7: they're dealing with the player, and I think Caleb Williams
- 1:47:35Speaker 7: themself says he's not dealing with it. He's not handling it,
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: and the Bears think that they're dealing with him as
- 1:47:42Speaker 7: opposed to an agent or a representative of some sort
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: of a father. Yeah, I mean, who knows. Yeah, So
- 1:47:48Speaker 7: I don't know. It's some of that stuff that people
- 1:47:49Speaker 7: were concerned about with Caleb Williams. But evidently on the
- 1:47:53Speaker 7: field it's been a whole different story. He's been great.
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: Brian Jjim McCarthy's in the same boat also, unsigned Is that.
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: Right that kid? Brian and Saint Louis? What do you
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: see as the Patriots identity and philosophy under the new leadership?
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Under the previous regime felt like they were in almost
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: every single game, no matter what the score, game conditions,
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: or opponent. They were cyborgs who could morph from week
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: to week even within the game. Still, the short passing game,
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: solid offensive line play, a few turners by the offense
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: in an opportunistic defense help the two dynasty stack wins
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: with the players that Mayo and Wolf have acquired. Do
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: we see an emerging identity in philosophy? The only component
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: that stands out so far that I've heard people talk
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: about is the deep ball capability of Drake May So
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: how long does it take a new regime to establish
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: the identity? Do the Patriots have that identity that he's
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: talking about in two thousand when Belichick took over. No, No,
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: it took him a while to usider.
- 1:48:53Speaker 7: I wouldn't even say they had it in two thousand
- 1:48:55Speaker 7: and one, right.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: It takes a while to establish that identity, you know,
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: So TBD.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: Your identity, you feel like, changes depending on your personet.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Like if you have a quarterback that can you be
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: Tom Brady and throw the ball over the place, their.
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: Identity changed, that's your system, right. So the custom is
- 1:49:12Speaker 7: we're going to have the best player that has ever
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: played play quarterback for twenty years, and that in turn
- 1:49:17Speaker 7: is going to allow a defense to be opportunistic and
- 1:49:20Speaker 7: keep us in games and watch the other team make So.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: What do you want the Patriots identity to be? If
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: you could choose an identity the greatest quarterback?
- 1:49:29Speaker 7: Well, I mean, I think you know, get away from
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: like the self inflicted wounds, like the penalties have been
- 1:49:36Speaker 7: a problem in the last couple of years. Just the mistakes,
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: the avoidable mistakes that we never really saw for a
- 1:49:42Speaker 7: long time, we saw too much of the last few years.
- 1:49:46Speaker 7: So just be a smarter team, more disciplined.
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: A disciplined team that gets better every game and clearly
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: is out there, really scrappy, working hard, one that's fun
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: to watch.
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd like to see Drake may be a top
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: ten quarterback, but have a supporting cast of like, really
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: guys with a lot of swagger. So both on offense
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: and defense, there's a lot of guys with swagger and
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: they don't mind talking out and all that stuff, and
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: Drake may sort of like the cool, calm, really good
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: quarterback who lets all his players, you know, do the talking. Yeah.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: I would just like to get back to being a
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: team that can outscore people.
- 1:50:25Speaker 7: Oh, you want to win football games, just know, but
- 1:50:28Speaker 7: in a certain way. Yeah, let's not rely on seventeen thirteen.
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: See if we can win thirty seven to thirty one,
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: or just be able to have the ability to you
- 1:50:36Speaker 7: don't want to win that way every week, to score
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: touchdowns and have the ability to be fun. Like Glex said, I.
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: Can get behind a team that maybe isn't winning eight
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: games every year, but they're really fun and you see,
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: you can buy into what they're doing and what they're building.
- 1:50:52Speaker 7: The ninety three Patriots. In December, you could see what
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: they were doing, Like, there's not a lot of Patriots
- 1:50:59Speaker 7: fans that had a five and eleven team that went
- 1:51:03Speaker 7: ten and six and ninety four. That was like, oh,
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: I didn't see that coming. Everybody saw that coming. Everybody
- 1:51:08Speaker 7: felt the way that they progressed Drew's rookie year with
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: Parcels was the like sort of the foundation for future
- 1:51:16Speaker 7: success and that's why we're it's hope. It's hope.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: There was hope implemented, and we didn't have it last season.
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: We didn't have it the season before that.
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: Our hope last year was that next year it would
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: be better, and they regressed.
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Yep. Brian, who doesn't say where he's from, he says,
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: I remember you saying that you came from the NFL,
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: and we're familiar with the Around the NFL podcast crew.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: Their podcast was unceremoniously ended. Do you have any thoughts
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: of the end of that show? Have you been listening
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: to the new one? Why are we talking about around
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: the NFL? Who's on that podcast?
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: I guess he might be talking about me because I
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: worked at NFL.
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: Oh Okay Evan, Yes, oh Is, and he does say
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: that in the subject he says question for Evan.
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so I was. I'm a big fan of
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: all those guys, and it's too bad they they basically
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: went on a hiatus with their podcast around the NFL,
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: which I think is one of the best, or was
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: one of the best, Greg Rosenthal, Dan Hanzus, Mark Sessler,
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: Chris Westling before he passed away, and they went on
- 1:52:19Speaker 3: a high like a summer hiatus, and then the NFL
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: Network or NFL Media just decided to not come back
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: at all. So their podcasts without a farewell podcast or
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: send off or anything, after eleven years on the air,
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: left gone. And Rosenthal, Greg who's a big Patriots fan,
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: Actually he's started a new podcast with NFL Network. I
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: think it's called NFL Daily. I haven't listened to it yet,
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: but at n was a really good show and it's
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: a bummer that they did that to them. They they
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: should have been handled differently.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: Dorian from University of Maryland rightsin. He's got little off season.
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: He's from Baltimore. How do you guys feel about a
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: potential flag football Olympics event in the future. What do
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: you think about flag football in the Olympics.
- 1:53:09Speaker 7: I'm out.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: I am too, No, thank you.
- 1:53:11Speaker 7: We don't find flag football fun at all for anybody
- 1:53:14Speaker 7: over the age of say fourteen.
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I know the league is really pushing flag football
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: because you know, young kids can play it. There's no tackle,
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: girls can play it. It's a good way to get
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: people introduced to the game of football. I disagree. It's
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: a good way to introduce people to the football, the
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: shape of the football, but other than that, it's not football.
- 1:53:37Speaker 7: My kids played from when they were I think it
- 1:53:39Speaker 7: was like six to probably twelve or thirteen, and it
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: was great, Like they really had a lot of fun playing.
- 1:53:46Speaker 7: I had a lot of fun watching them play. But
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: it's not football. No, it's not a substitute for football.
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: I know that there is like a ground swell now
- 1:53:55Speaker 7: of being a varsity sport in high school, which I
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: just don't understand. Yeah, it's not I don't think it's
- 1:54:01Speaker 7: four grown ups. Yeah, you know, and I understand that
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: you could say, like, well, in high school, you're not
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: necessarily grown up. You're close enough. Yeah, you're close enough
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: to being an adult at sixteen, seventeen years old. I
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: don't I don't get it. I don't. I mean other
- 1:54:16Speaker 7: than as a possible way to lay the foundation for
- 1:54:21Speaker 7: eliminating football altogether as we know it, which I think
- 1:54:25Speaker 7: you'd be naive if you didn't think that was a possibility. No,
- 1:54:29Speaker 7: there's no way, but maybe no way in our lifetimes ready,
- 1:54:33Speaker 7: but it's coming.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: I mean that all that matters in flag football is
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: the receiver in the quarterback. That's it.
- 1:54:39Speaker 7: Yeah, it's to me, it's very boring. Yeah, when it's
- 1:54:42Speaker 7: played like by older people that are really skilled, right,
- 1:54:45Speaker 7: it's like it's boring.
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: It looks like ultimate frisbee to me. For some reason.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:54:48Speaker 7: I just like part of the allure when their kids
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: is like you never know, like the kids wide open,
- 1:54:53Speaker 7: if he's going to catch it or not, or if
- 1:54:55Speaker 7: the throw is going to be there, and then sometimes
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: you just have it. There's like four people there to
- 1:54:59Speaker 7: get flag, and it's really hard to get the flag
- 1:55:02Speaker 7: when you're like seven. Yeah, to actually pull a flag
- 1:55:05Speaker 7: like that's fun to watch them run around. It's like
- 1:55:07Speaker 7: it's yeah, you know, it's like t ball, Like you
- 1:55:10Speaker 7: never know what's going to happen in t ball when
- 1:55:12Speaker 7: the ball gets hit. Yeah, you know, nine guys end
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: up on the ball on a pile. Yeah, you see
- 1:55:17Speaker 7: the clips on all the time, good stuff, and you're
- 1:55:19Speaker 7: not going to get good, wholesome fun.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: If you could sell flag football in the Olympics that
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: NFL players are actually going to participate, but want that,
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: I wouldn't want that.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: I mean it's the same as basketball or hockey.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: But at least you're playing the sport.
- 1:55:36Speaker 7: Yeah, if you were going to sell me on an
- 1:55:38Speaker 7: Olympic team of real football, no, obviously that's unrealistic, but
- 1:55:42Speaker 7: that I would watch.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: Well, it's like the NHL. NHL players weren't like historically
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: going to the Olympics. It was all your best junior players.
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:55:51Speaker 7: But but NHL and in NBA now the pros play and.
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but but I you know, and I think the
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: thinking is from the lead league is that, you know,
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: this is a good way to introduce them to football
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: and eventually they'll play football. I don't see that direct line.
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: And what are the other countries going to look? Yeah,
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: well that's like other countries they get riled up about
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: flag football.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: There's some like World Football.
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: That's why it's in the Olympics now is because the
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: us LA team lost the two games, but they the
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: player is no offense to the players that participated.
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: The players that participated in that for the United States
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: are not I don't even like there probably are z
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: tier of players.
- 1:56:32Speaker 7: It's my soccer argument, right, that's why we're not good
- 1:56:34Speaker 7: in men's.
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: Soccer because obviously you're not getting the NFL guys are
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: not playing in that, but not even the D one
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: college guys are playing in that. So you're you're unless
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: you're gonna get a talent pool of legitimate players, then
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: it's just not.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: Worth speaking of soccer, you see what happened in uh
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: my hard Rock Stadium.
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: With the COPA, Like what happened though?
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: They just got over and run overrun and people didn't
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: want to wait to get in or the people without
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: tickets fans.
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: Went purposely without tickets to score storm.
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: So how do they organize? Was it a Facebook group
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: that they got together, so let's show up without tickets soccer? Sorry,
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: I know, but it doesn't happen a lot.
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: It happens.
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: We have like that external in Paris.
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: Yeah, there was like a thirty for thirty documentary about
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: one of the English Premier League teams years ago.
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: A lot of people died getting trampled. I forget what
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: it's called a really.
- 1:57:27Speaker 7: Good crackdown that we like that and we can we
- 1:57:30Speaker 7: do pto days when the World Cup is here.
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: You want to watch the World Cup.
- 1:57:34Speaker 7: I just don't want to be here and to have
- 1:57:36Speaker 7: that happen.
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: Oh you'd be calling the other way.
- 1:57:40Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, like Rex Jack, I don't charge.
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: I think, well, we.
- 1:57:46Speaker 4: Have like that external big like the Ticketmaster gate. You
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: have to go through that checkpoint to then get to
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: the actual doors. I don't remember Miami having that from
- 1:57:55Speaker 4: when we.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: Yeah, there wasn't an outer perimeter that they had to
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: go through.
- 1:57:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and if people are in the front of the
- 1:57:59Speaker 4: line just getting pushed, and do we put.
- 1:58:02Speaker 7: All that in for for World Cup purposes?
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: No? No, I just think that it makes sense. I
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: think they really wanted to activate that whole plaza, but
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: they wanted to make it a safe zone so people
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: get screened before they get to the plaza.
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: Those soccer fans are different, man, like they are.
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: That was a wild video.
- 1:58:24Speaker 4: That was crazy, and it's like, where do you think
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: you're going to go? Do you have like a blueprint
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: of the HVAC system in the stadium?
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: Like how are you You'll figure it out what's.
- 1:58:31Speaker 5: Then goal.
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: In an areakroom and you're like, this isn't and Argentina
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: won anyway, So poor messy.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: Did you see him crying?
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: No?
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: I feel so bad for the most famous person on
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: the planet.
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: Also, Dorian says, if you tuned into USA basketball, are
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: you guys under the same impression that Embiid doesn't fit
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: the team? A D is much better for this team
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: as a starter.
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: Yes, has nothing to do with Embiid.
- 1:59:01Speaker 7: I don't think how come.
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: They only beat Australia by seven.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: Points their foot off the gas.
- 1:59:07Speaker 7: They were up eighteen when I was at the Good
- 1:59:08Speaker 7: Food store and all of a sudden I saw there
- 1:59:09Speaker 7: one by six.
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they Embiid is an awesome player. Like I don't
- 1:59:14Speaker 3: think anybody is disputing that.
- 1:59:16Speaker 7: I don't think he's healthy.
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: But they the way that they want to play around
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: him right now is they he's somebody that dominates the
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: ball when he's in the game on offense, and the
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: whole thing has to run through him to make it
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: productive with him out there.
- 1:59:29Speaker 4: That's why Philly's had so many issues building that team
- 1:59:32Speaker 4: around him.
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you if you built a second unit
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: around him with him coming off the bench. That was
