- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, faithful?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely incredible to be with you guys.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Say, now it's Tuesday, 10.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit of change of programming.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: The John Wayne show, we had a postpone just schedule issue, not a big deal.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back soon.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're worried about that.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Wayne, forget it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Legend just want to say thank you to that guy.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: So what we did is we bumped up the show.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do later in the week And so we have one of our countdown episodes today.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're going 77 to 73 on the 26 40 hours roster countdown just detailing five players per episode What it is they have done to get to where they are contracts status.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: How they're going to help the 49ers this year and You know salaries all that kind of stuff depth chart all the incidents in the whole goal of today's show
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: is when you're watching trading camp and preseason and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: What are these guys who are these guys?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: What are they offer?
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because some of them always, you know, jump up and surprise.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're back into the roster guys, but in 91 roasters where you know, roster spots, you're now down to 77 to 73.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I really do appreciate you guys being with us now.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Before we dive into our five players on today's show,
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: a couple more things and what I just want to see I'm curious how everybody is doing.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yesterday was rough with the news of the Miles Garrett trade and some new information has come out.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, general manager for the Brown's Andrew Barry, he came out and he was adamant never even took the trade seriously until they included Jared verse.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: just more and more support for the idea of yesterday show why the 49ers didn't trade for Miles Garrett.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't have a Jared verse.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: It just how rare it is to have a rising budding, you know, third year player on a rookie contract, you know, back to back pro bull or to be traded.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't happen often.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Also, raining defense of player in the
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I talked about the salary cap yesterday and all those things, but I'm just telling you right now, like neither so have a Jared verse, especially at the edge position.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Don't have it at the defense of tackle position, a cheap player on a rookie deal with three years cost control.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: You got two years left on Jared versus deal plus the fifth year option.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have that.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not present on the 49ers roster.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: for the people out there just say man the night should have done they could pay more there I don't think that they could and then I I feel like those same exact people and it's okay if that's you are like oh co-tray for max cross be the Raiders don't trade the 49ers late like you have to look at everything from all angles you go back to the
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: But the Davis family hates the 49ers because they controlled the Bay Area, the entire time they were, you know, in Oakland.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: So, like, there's just, and I get the knee jerk angry reaction.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still upset about it.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of the emails and DMs I've ever.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: Anger's low on that today.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure today's gonna be a lower show.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do our job.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Which is to inform it to increase the faith experience for those that want it.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Not going to be, you know, a blockbuster show with thousands of thousands of views today.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not going to be that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: I understood that before we went live, but that's okay.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: That is our job here.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, if you want, again, just a little bit more, make yourself feel a little bit better about that trade.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough to do.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: It is rough to do.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: But Rams gave up on a very, very young, very promising star for a six year older player and gave up a lot, a lot of draft capital.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of where you got to hang your hat now.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I do have to say thank you to Josh Ben and Zach the executive producers of a roster countdown series, and so what we do every single year Those are our fifth installment of this where we rank every player one through 91 on most importance to the 2026 season only
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: We can pile all four of those lists, you know, the lower the number, the higher the rank.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: So on so forth, we just climb through.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so again, this doesn't have to do so much with future years or any of that.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: Just who impacts this season 2026 the most.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: that is where it is, and that is what we're doing today.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Steve, I appreciate you, man, hashtag CC.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: The new position has me missing shows, but it's a blessing, congrats, man, whenever you told us you were going in for that interview, I love that you got it, man, you are the freaking man, see, what's up, filthy casual?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Rams, Flunk, 2026, 2027, first rounders.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they don't make first round picks.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: And when they do, they trade them.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just what it is.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: So all right, let's get to number 77 on the 2026 40 hours roster countdown high upside priority free agent wide receiver Wesley Grimes.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: going to be very, very honest was not one of the guys that I graded in my 240 plus players for the 2026 draft class, but man, the more I typed into the tape and the traits, it was just like all right.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I elite 10 yards split one of the best in this entire draft class for wide receivers.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Great agility, three cones off
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: that could help in the wide receiver room, and I'm going to be very honest with you.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is somebody that, man, I watched the tape and I was like, all right, maybe that's just a good game.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go find another game.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Go watch the next statement by DM.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having a hard time seeing why Wesley Grimes did what he did, and I kept going back to this lack of production.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever he is on, he is on the consistency and lack of production is why he was a priority free agent.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: Six, two, one, ninety, three, he's twenty, three years old.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Wesley Grimes went to Wake Forest, he was there for a few years, transferred to North Carolina State, the Wolf Pack, was there for a few years.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Again, production was never elite.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: But if you want to watch highlights and you see the athletic profile speed change of direction and it's just like damn what's the grimes has something Can that be brought out By the 49ers for a consistent whatever because this dude has return or upside and That is the pathway.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, we'll go through the wide receiver depth chart That kind of top four top five wide receiver spots are locked
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: but the returner spots are open.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: Wesley Grimes has a hat in the ring and whoever wins that, you better be able to bring a little bit of wide receiver help as well.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Wesley Grimes does that.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas, look at some of the other junior Bergen does not, you don't bring anything to the wide receiver room whatsoever.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: It will complete waste of traffic, hopefully picks up, but whatever.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I've Wesley Grimes way ahead of junior Bergen.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, went to Millbrook High School, unstoppable in high school, finished with the record for single season, receiving the arts.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: Wesley Graham's had 1594 receiving the arts in one season in high school, for his career in finish with 2,800 still no time record there, baseball stand out as well.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's a burner.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: He ran a 435.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: 1.49 tin yard split and I know like we're a little bit out of draft metrics.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the best for any wide receiver in this draft class.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's third best.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's six to 1993.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big old boy.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so then it's like, okay, this is your stereotypical tall skinny straight line speed guy.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: Had a six eight three cone.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like the metrics that Wesley Grant puts out there, it's just like, what, this is crazy.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then you turn on the tape and it's the athleticism is there.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: You see it on routes, you see elite separation, you see them stack in quarters vertically, you see them pull on past safety's, you see this stretches to field very, very well.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Contested catches are good.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's just he disappears and it's not like he's out there running bad routes.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like man.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Why is he not a focal point of the offense?
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just I don't understand.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Just didn't produce consistent.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: Returnor slash gadget player with X side with with upside he could be an X.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: Outside wide like he could be an X very long road to get to that point.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: But the profile on the skill set and the way he plays, it is there.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: The contested catches were probably the biggest surprise to me.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's tough.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: He'll go over the middle.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: When the return of role, and who knows what's next for Wesley Yards, that is the path.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to be very honest.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I am cheering for Wesley Grimes to get out there and be that guy.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I want him to get out there and be that guy.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: I want him to win the return of role.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think the upside is way more than a lot of the wide receivers he's competing with, you know, will fall in, cool, and down, junior, Bergen, those back into the roster guys, Wesley Grimes is way higher than those guys, way higher.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: You just kind of look at his contract minimum deal no guarantees.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's the negative of Wesley Grimes.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: He was not a coveted spot, but the 49ers brought him five wide receivers this off season.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of them.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at that depth chart.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans, Ricky Pierce all, Christian Kirk, John Striblin, Jordan Walkage, Jacob Cowling, to Marcus Robinson, Lee Turner, Wesley Grimes, Jr. Bergen, Will Paul, and there's 12.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: They got 12 wide receivers fighting for six spots.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: You don't put somebody on practice.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Why did maybe that's the way Wesley Grimes kind of makes it on this roster, probably not gonna make the 53, but man, I want Wesley Grimes to make, I really do want him to win this returning game role.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: The upside is there with a lot of those dudes,
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that that is a big deal.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it had somebody here asking about the entry history, no significant entry history.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, he didn't put up and produce consistently.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Just didn't do it.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm really, really do like that guy.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just telling you right now.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: So number 77 on the 2026 Ford Ange roster countdown, priority free agent Wesley Grimes, I like him.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, programs can play.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Brian, and that was the thing.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like I kept watching the tape just think it like, all right, why not?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: The answer for why he can is there.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: Speed, change your direction, burst, size, hands,
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why not Wesley Grimes, consistency and production.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: That coaching staff should have gone down ball way more.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: Should have had way more targets way more.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's number 77 number 76 of familiar name.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: One of the most familiar names.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one, two, three, fourth year on the 49ers roster countdown for Jalen Graham.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: Linebacker.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's been the journey is rookie year.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Thought he was going to take a jump.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: The next year was 45.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Then fell down to 66 last year.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's down to 76.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so you got to see.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they're some hope.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: And now, Caitlyn Graham's turned into practice squad guy, scout team guy that can give quality reps to the starting offense at a special team.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what he is.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 41 currently?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Six to 220.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: He was at Purdue for his entire college career.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's not existing anymore.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's 25 years old, still very, very young, grew up in Michigan.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Jaylee Graham with the cast tech high school played defense of back at high school, and it is careers at three-star prospect, committed to Purdue, and just was like the MVP of that defense for several years.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: His game is Majority League instincts and just understanding what to do.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now, his athletic profile is very, very good.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Rainer 46, you like a little bit more speed, but not bad.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: He has good arm length.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: He is undersized, but that's the Robert Solakana mold.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Just struggle to see real action for the 49ers.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Just cannot get into starting lineup.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: And this practice squad kind of, Adam, he was with Adam Peters and the commanders left here when Adam Peters went there, but then came back.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and he's been in the 40 hours practice squad almost all last year.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: He was drafted in 2023 in the seventh round.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: 250 fifth overall.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: What's funny is the 40 years got three players in that seventh round all within eight spots.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: A Braden willus Ronnie Bell, Jalen Graham all picked with the eight spots of each other.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: None of them have really paned out.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: All three are still in the NFL though.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: I know the 40 hours get a lot of flack for the quote unquote bad drafting, the one thing that I think is probably most impressive whenever I go back and look at just what the 49ers have accomplished in their draft picks is how many of these players are still in the NFL.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Ronnie Bell was terrible.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Still playing in the NFL.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Brain Will is still on the 49ers roster.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Jaylon Graham is still on the 49ers roster.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Is the upside there for any of those players know?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: But they're there.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Jaylon Graham is playing 15 games in his career.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the negative.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Will it be able to make the 53?
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: I do not believe so.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think anybody's fighting or, you know, trying to claim Jalen Graham off waivers, but he knows the system.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: He knows all the linebacker spots.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: He knows the special teams.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's a locker room guide.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Jalen Graham brings to the team.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a one year, $1.1 million deal with no guarantees.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: $1.8 million career earnings.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: Love that.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: But the problem is the linebacker rooms too deep.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why Jalen Graham is number 76.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: You go through the line, but you might keep five.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Fred Warner, Drake Green Law, Tane on Petton, Luke Gifford, Special Team's Lockheed, you go nowhere.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin, Jayden Dugger, Garrett Wallow, Jalen Graham, Lairworth III.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's eighth out of nine linebackers, might keep five.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Cook keep six.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not gonna keep six.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he is, Ed.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, with some of these players, we get a little bit of fatigue.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is fourth year on the countdown, it just keeps dropping.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's a fun player at a cool locker room guy, but it's just hard to see Jalen Graham being a foundational piece of this roster.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't see it.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't see it.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Now the one thing I do want to see is whenever you guys go to a 40 dieders game, whether you know on the road, we're going to be in Australia, international, Mexico City, international, we have full travel
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to Seattle, you're going to Atlanta, you're going to Dallas, got to come party with us.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip is going into its sixth year with over 40 events at road games.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you are traveling to see the 49ers play this year, you got to come party with us.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that, we give games, trivia, giveaways.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: We partnered with tick pick this year.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is search 49ers rush on any of the tick pick sites, apps,
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: best dressed, giveaways, autographed jerseys, kids are always included and get in for free with a ticketed adult.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times for select cities, we will have 49ers legends come out and you get to meet and greet them and get autographed.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Vorrow Bowman, Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Fred Warner, are all players that we have worked with in the past and trust me.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself, we got you covered 49ers
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get to number 75 on the 49ers roster count down this season.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Drake, Newjet, third appearance for Drake, Newjet comes in number 75, which is kind of ironic.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: He was 75 last year, did not move.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it is really, really interesting because we don't look at last year to affect this year's rankings.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: We just ranked for 20, 26 alone.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: his priority free agent rookie year he was sixty six there was a lot of hype on Drake Newjet fell whatever he didn't get promoted and now he's in his third season and then you look at the addition of Carver Willis who they see could eventually play center you look at the addition of Brett Tauth and probably going to win that backup center role if you look at how much he got paid
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Drake Newt offers something at that center only position.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: He does not have the athleticism or size to play Guardians 61298.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very small.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very small.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: And doesn't have the elite athleticism even that Jake Bendo has.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: The goal for Drake Newt was always Jake Bendo's career trajectory where Jake Bendo bounced around on practice quads for about 40 years.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: just followed Chris Forster wherever he went, eventually won the job because of an early retirement from Alex Mack and then just didn't look back.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: He looks back during the play.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: Probably should have said that.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Drake, Newt.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: 25 years old.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Still, you know, these COVID guys that came out and weren't fluent by that.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the 40 hours
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Drake, NewJet, I'm not going to sit here and say he doesn't have a shot, but it's rough to see the impact this year.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough to see the impact next year.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be battling for Carver Willis for that spot as well.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now, uh, went to Stanford that transferred to Michigan, won a national championship there in 2023.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: That was lost last
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's from Highland Ranch High School as dad Terry play for Colorado State and was a six round pick by the Browns his uncle, Neurion play football, Washington State, Drake, New Jet played both offense defense.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was a three time shot put champion.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love people that compete.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: I love people that compete if you have a kid that has any desire to ever be a pro sport athlete at any level, any sport.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: Multiple sports is key.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Specialization is not in the added interest of your own kid.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I used to say this whenever I coach anybody telling your kid that he should focus on this one sport does not have your kids best interest in mine.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: They have their own.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's different if you've been given a full on full right scholarship and NIL bonus and all that stuff.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Once you're at that stage, yes.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: You don't need to be played basketball, baseball, football, if you have that's a passion.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, then it's time for specialization.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: But.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you right now the best thing for people and anybody that wants to increase their athleticism compete compete to any way shape or form you can, especially at the middle school and high school level.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: You got a full ride.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's time to specialize.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Till then, chill out, drink new jet three time shop put champion.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Love seeing that stuff.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: Play for Stanford transfer to Michigan.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Again, the depth there, that's rough.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's rough.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's going into his third season.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: Has it seen any play in time?
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: None.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: He gets, you know, a lot of work at the preseason.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just rough seeing a six one center without the athleticism and the movement, the run game.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a still mate blocker through and through.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't get movement.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so the weaknesses of Jake Bindle's game, he doesn't even highlight or offer a counterproductive.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to help the run game.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just like Jake Bindle, but he's not as good a past protector.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's rough.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a one year, $185,000 till no guarantees.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's made six hundred and 80,000 career earnings.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: And again, it's Jake Brindle, Brett Talk, Drake, Newjet, and I would argue, because this is 2026, only Carver Willis is going to interject himself in this race at some point.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: John Forster believes,
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: rookie Lyme and need to learn how to play guard first before they play center in his scheme got to learn to play guard.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Then you learn to center.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis is going to learn guard first.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people are saying Carver Willis is going to win that left card slot.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: I am not one of those would be very, very happy if you did.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be Connor Colby or Robert Jones, but eventually Carver Willis his spot will be at the center position.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Make no mistake.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's just where it's going to be.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: want to say thank you to all the people who have the hashtag cc's you guys are awesome love it love it Brian he's got a sturdy this in strength brindle lacks yes that is very very true uh... jake brindle play strength is non-existent he is very athletic he moves so well in space one of the most athletic centers in the NFL undersized similar size
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: to Drake, Drake, dude, it's slow.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: He is very heavy plotter, very heavy footed, but the problem with that is he doesn't get movement in the run game.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Usually those lower body, lower center of gravity, kind of bulldog centers, like Zach Frazier, one of my favorite players come out of the draft recently, now probably the second best center in the NFL, whatever.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys, those under leveraged guys, usually get a lot of movement in the run game.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's a problem in Drake,
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to his guy and then just still makes it like that that's he's a guard post.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: There's value in that, but it's rough whenever you don't have the athleticism for this scheme.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's just there's a reason why he's a priority free agent and nobody has claimed them off the 49ers practice.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: But he does have this starting this.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: He does have this strength.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't get the movement.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: appreciate you for escape.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Loving these live countouts.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is new for us in the past, you know, we, we always did one episode per player.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I would record it off air, then load it after the fact, but we're trying to get a little more efficient here doing 91 episodes was just a killer.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's a killer, and this offseason is a killer as well.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a, you know, we're looking for new places to move in the Bay Area, where we're helping our kiddo just graduated, move Texas, so 20th anniversary.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: We got a lot of stuff going on.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: This offseason mostly good things.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's, it's, it's a lot.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: So the five episode live countdown, we'll see.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: But right now, you know, what are we like three episodes, four episodes in?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm feeling it, man.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: One, just because of you guys, it's nice to have a little back and forth that that is huge and Brian.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not his own blocking guy, Drake Nuget.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really not.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: They went with him to try to convert him into that.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Just has it really happened.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, Weber, Brock Party MVP season loading.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: That would be badass.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: That would be awesome.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: All right, number 74 on the 49ers roster count down and kind of a weird one.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Former top 10 overall pick, Eli Apple, corner back.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: 30 years old, he has been in the league since 2016.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Eli Apple was drafted when Kyle Shanahan wasn't even on the 49ers.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: He was still in Atlanta.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: where's Jersey number 361203 weird guy man very polarizing NFL prospect pissed a lot of people off everywhere he went just weird cat weird cat but the athleticism the profile
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Apple went to Eastern regional high school was exceptional talent at the high school level.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: It goes to Ohio State, top 10 draft pick of the 2016 draft, just hasn't lived up to that pick.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: But this dude's played the NFL for 11 years.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: You can say whatever you want about a Eli Apple, 11 years in the NFL at the cornerback position is rare.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Corner's fall off quick.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: When they lose that step, then they lose that speed,
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Eli Apple ran a four four at the combine and he's still out there competing whatever the 40 hours called them up several times last year is that in the middle of the year.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now you go back to whenever he was drafted.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was drafted 10th over on the first round by the giants in 2016 drafted a head of Lairmy tonsil Ryan Kelly Kenny Clark.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: not worth the top 10 selection.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, you know, you look back and it's amazing.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's played.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: But the pick right after him was Vernon Hardgraves.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: One of the biggest busts in the past shoot 11 years.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: It probably one of the biggest busts in that draft class for sure.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: But Tuesday played 11 years, 104 games, 82 starts, six career in reception, 61 pass breakups.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: That is what he sells.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best part of his game.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: Talks a lot of trash.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of hard to talk trash on practice squads and get an elevate and all that stuff at this point.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: But he's played for, shoot, what's he on?
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: Seven teams, giants, saints, panthers, bangles, dolphins, chargers, now Niners.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's just been a team hopper of late, but he's collected that money.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with that.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at what he did last year he played 15 snaps for a 49er.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's on a one year, $1.3 million deal, no guarantees.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: He has 25 and a half million dollar career earning.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's made some money.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: But you look at the corner back depth chart.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Amadorlanor Renardo Green, Upton Stout,
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to get excited about the upside of a 30-year-old journeymen corner that seems to be on his way out, but 49ers elevated him several times last year over a lot of other corners that did were young and promising.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: If there was an injury to it, the corner back position would they go back?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, right here, Brian says, yeah, he says, hello, Eli Apple should have been a lot lower.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: He was elevated over a lot of these guys.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's our last corner in the rankings on the depth chart.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: But man, a kid going back to this idea, usually keep five to six corners.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's only nine corners on this roster.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the 49ers elevated him last year.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not the biggest Eli Apple guy either.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: But it's pretty hard to disagree with somebody with that type of pedigree experience and athletic profile that's there.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not an Eli Apple guy.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really, really not.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: I would much rather have a younger, more upside guy there, but this is a very young.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: corner depth chart.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: It just really, really is demo young.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're an art or green young, up to the stout young.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Fees of price, suck young, drill, looter young, Jacob Robertson young.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you always like to have some of your kind of bulldogs nasty guys in the DB corner room.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's just the way it works.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Joots and Eli Apple are not quite the mentors I want with my young guys.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're just not.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can dive into those guys off the field.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: They had ticks or whatever else.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's quite interesting with the Niners kind of philosophy of just building guys that love football and stay, you know, out of off field drama.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then yet you have Eli Apple and Jack Jones in the same position group.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's been some time and look at what we'll get to Jack Joads at a later date, but yeah Eli Apple, I'm pretty sure like he is on nobody's Christmas card mailing list of any former NFL teams he's been on.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's just he's a weird cat.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's a weird cat.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: This many the Niners are going to trade for a DB.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's not
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: The depth is there.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: If he should price suck, I like the Nate Hobb signing a lot.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: He gives you that versatility.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think he can play all every single DB spot.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones similar to that too.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: The good news about the Ford Aaron's corner room is that they brought back everybody from last year.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: Every single corner they had on the roster last year, they brought back.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: They had any significant playing time.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Demo back, green back, stout back, drill, router back, like those were your four corners.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Those were the four, your bottom all back.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: And you want to include Eli Apple and Jacob Robertson in that cool, they like the room and now you're getting quality coaching.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Not that you got bad coaching last year, but Jerry Gray coming to the 49ers is so big.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot stress this enough ladies and gentlemen.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Cannot, you bring in Rehears, who is a DB coach by nature.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: you're getting an emphasis at that position, and I expect that to be key.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm so pumped about getting quality coaching on the back end.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a good point, Ross, pretty thin there.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Check shows this dude, man.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: I hope so, the old man's crazy.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: Big toe, thanks for the super chat, man.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: If healthy, how can you keep Hobbes off the field?
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you play three corners, Dimo, Renardo, Green Upton, Stout.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: They're upside way more, they're athletic profile way more.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't even enter into the argument of Ephesians, price sock.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: You just spend a fourth round pick on his traits are crazy.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs, versatility, physicality, experience.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's a pretty big, like, that's a good, and throw into real looter who I'm not a derail looter junior guy at all.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: Derell looter junior was the worst player in training camp last year, but then he gets into the regular
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: He played more consistent than Renardo Green did.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be honest with you.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: He really did.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a good six.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a bad six.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a great six.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not bad.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: We've been a part in the Kyle Shanahan tenure.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's been some really, really, really bad corner back rooms.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: I do not consider this a bad corner back room.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's top five, probably not top 10.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: but there's not 16 teams better cornerback depth rooms than the 49ers have.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now we haven't been able to say that very often.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's been, I don't wanna say, neglective position has a bit of priority.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: I like the Nate Hobbs signing big tone.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that there is one injury anywhere.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs is kind of the first one off the bench.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would my Nate Hobbs take it some safety snacks.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like Nate Hobbs just is the duct tape glue.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't going to miss much.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: You might even improve in a spot if he gets in there.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really like the Nate Hobbs deal.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: Rease apples best was when he was with the giants and saints and that was a long time ago.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was a long time ago.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nighters need to trade for a vet free safety.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, they just don't value that position.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't value.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: They don't even draft free safety.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: They only draft strong safety.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have any Desire.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: They brought it two safety's priority free agents in both of them run four six or four seven.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't care.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: You had all prosafety
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's all an old fungun you let him walk and he goes and makes another first team all pro.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: I should have kept you fungun man.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know the injuries are there and a lot of people are like, ah, you had to, you had to, you had to.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think that was a major miscalculation.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like in the morning, I got like a just crappy treadmill, I'll just jump on it for like 30 minutes to start my day and I'll throw on something whether like if I have a stressed I put on like walk it on the beach videos of a big beach guy, but like otherwise I'm watching like 49ers state highlights whatever else and so I was watching some stupid playlists put together was like all the turnovers.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: for the past like I don't know seven years of the 49ers defense every other play was tall and old funga every other play that was this morning I'm just like god bless man I know we wouldn't perfect but that dude changed everything he changed everything he could do everything and he was a strong safety too but the interchangeable safety's with the jet sweeps and all the motions and all that stuff changes not are some miss that dude 29 whether he's been injured or he's been gone.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's rough.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's rough.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: Big toe, 40 hours should trade for Max Crosby, something cheaper for the Raiders ain't traded Max Crosby at 49ers, no matter what.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: whether they should or they shouldn't.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they're even interested.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: They want to see what they have in room.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: Raiders ain't trading them here.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: And again, remember, they offered more for Clill Mac than the bears did, not even interested.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: They're not trading them here.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: Big brick, John.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about giving price stock a shot of free safety as the bill, the range, the length, plus would counter his worst trait getting flagged a lot in coverage at the line of scrubbing.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers value corner so much more than free safety.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners do not give a crap about the free safety position.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: They have spent zero draft capital in season capital, salary capital, they don't do it.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: They don't care.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: They don't care corner.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I do believe this as well.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: You fell in that corner to see it safety.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so outside corners more valuable than slot, slot corners more valuable than free free safety is more valuable than strong.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: But the 49ers usually do a dual safety look where they're interchangeable.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what they do whether whether we agree or disagree with that, we have to see maybe that changes, which are a gray and reemorse.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: But you got to fail, price sock at safety.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, at corner before you send them in the safety.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe that's where he eventually ends up, and there is a possibility he could play that role.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt, I agree with you, Big Break.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is there.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: But God started my corner first.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's just too valuable.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you drafted for them because there's going to be change over in that room next year.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Reese, soccer minds me have hanks with that long neck.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, a little bit.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love me some earned hanks.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Big tone, he's a two-time all pro.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know if you're talking about who fun girl or you're talking about cross beer, both that they both two-time all pros I believe.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is not an anti-max cross-be take.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is an anti-davis family take with the 49ers.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, you know, that you're betting on the defensive end pass rush room.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Bosa, you've got McCill, you've got Ramello, you've got Samo, you've got Keyon White, that's not a bad defensive end room.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I would argue that's pretty damn good defensive end room.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta see how they all respond from injuries, but then you look at their salary cap again.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, the 49ers are negative.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: negative salary cap space the next two seasons right now.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's without adding anybody.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: Whole show yesterday was all about that and what that means.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not against adding Crosby.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not trading two first for them.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I just not doing that.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Just not doing that.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: Just debates out there.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Go get them.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: I would love that.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: Brian planes don't coverage with zero past rush.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's just hanging out your secondary to dry.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's been fixed a lot by the personnel in the injuries.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: And Robert Sol is not the biggest pass rush guy.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, he can say, oh, I'll guess no breaks, but you look at his sack totals everywhere.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's been outside of 2019.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: Really wasn't, you know, whatever.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: Last year was rough.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: All right, one more.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Number 73 on the 49er's roster cannot age or in Martinez.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting into the quarterback position.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I know he was with the 49er's last year, but he was an added until August last year.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: So he didn't make our countdown.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: So we didn't get to get the full breakdown in the gritties.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: So excited about this one.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number four?
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like every backup or third string quarterback, the history of the 49er's organization, where's Jersey number four?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: Six, two, two, 20.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: Decent size, speed, he's athletic.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: 26 years old young.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now they're Stanford guy.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: We just keep talking about these California kids.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: Then he went to Kansas State, born and raised in Hanford, California, played football basketball and high school solid high school career, four star ranking committed to Nebraska, then then Stanford, then, you know, he's just bounced around.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: Went untrafted in 2023, but did side with the UFL.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is fun.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: UFL, I love it.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't watch as much as I should.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: exploded was the MVP of the league won the championship for the U. F. L. was the MVP of the championship game.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was awesome there.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: So like you count that as experience is not the NFL.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: But you saw how he could compete against other.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: Don't say top tier quality tier athletes play for three NFL teams who's with the Lions and Jets and the 49ers.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: played for the, you know, he was with the jet's twice last year in the four hours twice last year.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a bounce around third fourth quarterback.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's the fourth quarterback right now in the roster.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: We got to see probably one of the coolest moments last year.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: Mac Jones pulling himself out of the game to allow Adrian Martinez to get in and take his snap for the kneel down, which was really, really cool.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Mac Jones.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: How do you how you won over all the 49ers fans?
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's just awesome.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: Um, such a cool kid, but Adrian Martinez ran a four, five, five, really fast dual threat guy.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at like his UFL career.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: And a little under 50% he's not accurate passers, 1700 pass yards, 15 touchdowns, 500 rush yards.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: This idea of a dual threat quarterback that you're hoping increases his anticipation throwing in his accuracy.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: don't get a lot of reps, but it is always huge to have a dual threat quarterback on your roster because one against scout team a really good look when you're playing mobile quarterbacks, which is the NFL's pepper with those.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: So having Adrian Martinez go be the Kyler Murray, go be, you know, fill in the blank.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: Lamar Jackson, he's not those guys.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's not obviously, but you need to have that look.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: He brings that.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: Also, it's huge to have your emergency third or fourth quarterback to be mobile because they don't get reps with the team and they can protect themselves a little bit more because they're not going to be on pace if they don't end an emergency situation.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez great locker room guy teammate express multiple teammates last year I've talked about just how great Adrian Martinez has been throughout training camp preseason there's what he brings did have a torn labor home in college, but nothing has really affected him it is time in the NFL he's on a one year one million dollar deal with no guarantees
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's at the back of the pecking order.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: He has 880,000 career earnings will hit a million dollars this year if he's on a roster somewhere You look at the depth chart brought pretty Matt Jones Curtis Rork, Adrian Martinez.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: This is a battle Adrian Martinez versus Curtis Rork, you know 49ers spin it's seventh round pick on Curtis work coming off the ACL injury Saddam for a year red shirted him now it's a competition who's gonna be number three and this is a very very big battle
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is Mac Jones last year on the 49ers.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care what any podcast retails you.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: And if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: It happens a lot.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't signing Mac Jones to a long term deal.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: I just do not see that taking place.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be awesome.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see it happening.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: Curtis work, Adrian Martinez, whoever wins this battle has the inside track to be in the backup quarterback in the future.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is a 20, 26 countdown.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: And in effect, the rankings here.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's why Adrian Martinez is 73.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: But like, let's realistically look at this.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Is there a 30% chance that Adrian Martinez, Beach Curtis work?
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: 20% chance?
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 20 to 30% chance.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's the number two quarterback next year.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is a very, very big battle that we'll have lasting implications for the 49ers.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: What if the 49ers do get an ungodly crazy trade for Mac Jones in season?
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Some other teams starting quarterback goes down in the first or second month of the season before the trade deadline.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody pays crazy draft capital or whatever for Mac Jones.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: If Curtis worker Adrian Martinez play well enough to prove to Kyle Shannon, hey, we can step in
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: With this team, with Curtis Worker, Adrian Martinez, that just gives you so much more.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying that's what I want.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen crazier things.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez is a very, very fun player and he offers something none of the other quarterbacks offer in that room and that's the mobility.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: The dual threat now, Brock party has a lot of mobility and Brock pretty can move and scoot and all that stuff.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez is much better at athletes than Brock Perti is, Brock Perti has that burst and yeah, he can move.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez is an athlete.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: uh... whenever it comes to running with the football it it's just there it is just there uh... no doubt about that all look at that uh... wifi central value produces athletes i love it clobus west high school senior year believe i think that is correct
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think that is great, I love it.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Big break, I see Brock and Martina's being very similar types, Mac and Rork being similar types.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to mobile backup quarterback or a statue in the pocket?
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: You want somebody can officially operate your offense?
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Mac does that.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: Mac Jones way better than Adrienne Martinez Curtis work, different types of quarterback.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Different types of quarterback for sure.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice to have a guy that doesn't get reps
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: I do like that aspect of a number three.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: Howdy.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Martinez could be something with the opportunity, but quarterback death is just so good.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: I've said this many times this off season.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the four areas have the best quarterback death in the NFL.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_01]: You got the best number two quarterback.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Brock, pretty wherever the hell you put them.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: Dude has proven he can continue to do it time and time again in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: Even last year's game at Seattle, which was a blow out of the playoffs, Brock Perti was not bad.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: That dude was playing by his damn self, by himself.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's one point in the fourth quarter where the dude's pump faking wide open, wide receivers, because you don't want to throw to Luke Feral.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to throw wide receivers in any catch in the ball.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want like, it was just so bad.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was just by himself.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is by himself.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I will say again, the 49ers quarterback depth better than any team in the NFL.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's without seeing Curtis work and what he can do, but we've seen ancient martins.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: He went bad.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to develop.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: He needs time.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's 26.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's 26.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: Do with that.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: What you will.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: Smitty, not just winning the Super Bowl in season.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: Levi South, I like that.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: Big brick.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: Mac and Rock are the best trade candidates.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: Should we need to entertain the notion?
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have no problem trading neither one.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be getting probably a third or a fourth round comp pick when Mac Jones walks.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see a huge free agency signing that's going to offset the Mac Jones deal.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, but it's year to late.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: Twenty twenty seven drafts, plus B bad S.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: what would it take to get back Jones?
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: I've said over and over again, you give me a top 50 pic, I'm trading Mac Jones.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now it kind of dies down a little bit.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: Top 75 pic in 2027 cool.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise you just keep them, you see what it is.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what it is.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: But if somebody comes out and says, hey, we'll give you a second round pic for Mac Jones.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking that boom for 2027, I'm taking it.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to have belief in Curtis work or age or Martinez or somebody else out there that you could get, you know, for a cheaper trade.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: But if somebody offers anybody, I don't even care who it is, I'm not trading Mac Jones in the division.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: If somebody offers a second round pick moving forward, Mac Jones, I love you.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: Second round pick from Mac Jones, I'm taking it in a heartbeat
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: any heart, uh, appreciate you, de-pours, uh, maybe Brock has trusted you.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: He sure has held us.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, you're never seeing Jordan Mason just wide open doing this, like freaking wavy, wacky arm guy in the middle, like, nobody 20 yards around him.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: Brock party looks at him and just does this and throws the delts where a big reason why they traded Jordan is, is basins because Brock pretty went throwing the ball.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: Just wouldn't want them to look fair.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: Brock party will not throw certain
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's a positive or a negative, it's where it is.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: Race, John is safety or biggest concern with this defense.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, tight ends, my biggest concern overall.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Running back depth is a concern as well.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a tight end one, safety two.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: Those were two very, very high concerns heading into the draft.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love George's get a long term.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: 32 years old coming off in a killies that happen in January.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy to rely on that not add one single Titan.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: I like Dunker, he's awesome, fun guy.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hope he makes this roster strong chance.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's way high on this list, by the way.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very excited about his future.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: Tide in one, safety two, but the thing with safety is you have three young books.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: And there are so many safety out there that she needs to pick up off the street that are veteran guys that you could bring in.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: Niners have done that, not once, but twice.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: See what you have in house?
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: If it doesn't work out, get somebody off the street.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: Niners don't value safety like we do.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: Niners do not value safety like we do.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: You let it all pro safety walk.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: You let it all pro safety walk.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: Big brick.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: I expect for him to play a lot more man than zone.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I disagree there.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: We'll help green and brown and prove the pasture seems like it will be strong or a bosa.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: I now what I will say big brick is I think Raheem will pay more man than we have in the past.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: I do see that.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: The assortance had played a lot of cover one, man.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was so terrible.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was so terrible.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: Pet rock.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: Solid played little to none.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: I want Raheem to play more Tampa too.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: I want way more utilizing the zone feel that Fred Warner brings in the communication that helps your safety.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: You have the best covers line back to the history of the NFL.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Utilize him that Urlacker role.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, baby.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: And big tone, I was sorry about Funga being a two-time all-pro, now getting another one of the Broncos, also saw the highlight videos, felt the same way, said, who Funga is one of my favorite players we've ever had.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_00]: I really hate that that ended, but...
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: that's what it is.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Jones to the Cardinals for Traming Pride or Josh Svett.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: I would trade off for Traming Pride, who I think is probably the best tied in the NFL along with that conversation.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: George Kiddles, the best two way player tied in blocking and receiving.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: Traming Pride is pretty hard to argue he's not the best receiving tied in after what he did last year.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to trade a quarterback in the division and I don't think the Cardinals wanted to do this.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: Cardinals full on tank mode.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're letting their quarterback hold out right now.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: They are in full on tank mode.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want to trade a quarterback in the division.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: I would do it in a heartbeat.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest fear that keeps me up at night is the Cardinals getting archmany.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: that bothers the hell out of me.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_01]: I am the jets or the dolphins got to suck more than the cartels, but then you look at the jets of the dolphins play each other twice.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_01]: The cartels are the toughest division the history of the NFL almost.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: It just keeps getting better and better.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, I'm so terrified of archmaning going to the freaking cartels.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't want that.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: I really really don't want that.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what I mean, John.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: More man.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: We, we, we, we, we, we, we
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a foot episode after say thanks to Zach Bitted Josh, the executive producers of our roster countdown series and just freaking work.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's so hard getting all that stuff set up for us.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to do it for us today.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are awesome.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you enjoyed learning about some more of the back into the roster players, Wesley Grimes, Jalen Graham, Drake, Newjang, Eli Apple, and Adrian Martinez.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to keep count these down over the
