  Wonderful, such a treat to get to talk to you both.

  And also I just have to tell you you've done such an incredible

  job on this show. I love both of your characters

  so much. It must be so difficult to find

  ways to be entertaining as humans.

  Amongst all the chaos of the Muppets.

  Is that, is that true? It must be a hundred, a hundred

  percent. You know, what was my dream?

  I was like, oh my God, I got this role for the first time in
• 2:12
  my life, I might be number one on the call sheet.
• 2:15
  And then I got humbled, real quick, when all of the Muppets
• 2:18
  were 126 on the call, she doesn't know.
• 2:19
  Yeah, this is about them. This is a Bubba.
• 2:21
  It's been a joy to just be alongside them because they're
• 2:26
  the stars of the show and we get to help make them shine.
• 2:28
  So it's really awesome. It's true.

  Can you each give us like just a real brief recap about how you
• 2:34
  learned about the Project's? What your auditions were like,
• 2:37
  how you got the role Sarah? We could start with you?
• 2:40
  Yeah, sure, I think yeah. I as with most projects, I
• 2:46
  received an email from my team, just letting you know, what the
• 2:51
  project was that they were interested in having me tape for
• 2:54
  it. I had gone through a couple
• 2:57
  rounds. Sounds of self tapes that I just
• 3:00
  kind of like made at home. I was actually shooting some one
• 3:05
  of them was made in Toronto and I actually watched my first
• 3:09
  audition the other day just for you.
• 3:24
  Saw your first one, you said. Yeah.
• 3:27
  I just wonder what. Maybe that was you know it'd be
• 3:29
  interesting to see the difference.
• 3:31
  If there was any adjustments you made or things you there were
• 3:34
  there were I remember getting like notes back and I remember
• 3:38
  freaking out because one of the emails like halfway through the
• 3:41
  audition process was like casting saying to my team, she's
• 3:45
  very right for this. And I was like, what is that
• 3:47
  mean? But you were my last, my last
• 3:53
  round of auditions was with or like the last screen test, I
• 3:56
  guess, was with Lily. A over zoom.
• 3:59
  And that's when I met all of you lovely humans.
• 4:02
  And yeah, was it the same scene that you ready to time and you
• 4:09
  remember what it was? It was.
• 4:11
  Yeah. It was the same two scenes.
• 4:14
  It was one of the scenes in this episode that we're about to talk
• 4:17
  about. And then the other scene was one
• 4:20
  of the scenes from episode 1. I think, right?
• 4:24
  If it's the scene in the den during the PowerPoint
• 4:27
  presentation Yeah, it's the PowerPoint that we cut.

  Yeah. You'll have to point out the,
• 4:32
  the scene in this episode is once we will, I will ya.

  Great. But the but we put the the
• 4:38
  chemistry was so clear when we saw them do it together and you
• 4:41
  could imagine. I mean it's hard to over Zoom,
• 4:44
  but you could just you could just tell, you know, felt right
• 4:48
  Lily. What was it like for you?
• 4:50
  Well yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat.
• 4:51
  I got an email and at this point in my life, I was very much so
• 4:55
  prioritizing fun. You know, I've done a lot of
• 4:57
  cool things. Things in my life.
• 4:59
  But I was like, I want to just make sure whatever projects I
• 5:01
  do. Next are fun, and full of joy.
• 5:04
  And so, when I got an email about the Muppets, I was like,
• 5:06
  the universe has answered my call because there's not many
• 5:09
  other things that are as joyous as the Muppet.
• 5:11
  So I auditioned as well. I was traveling, I did a few
• 5:15
  tapes and then I also had to do a chemistry read over Zoom with
• 5:18
  Bill and Jeff and everyone. And I remember calling my agent
• 5:21
  being like, are there going to be Muppets on the zoom right
• 5:24
  now? I'm gonna log on and there's
• 5:26
  Muppets on the zoom. Like I need to know.
• 5:28
  There were not, it was built, but it was still good, it was so
• 5:31
  good. And I will never forget, this
• 5:34
  was where my reminder to always be a good and kind human being
• 5:37
  because the moment I signed on to zoom Bill said, to me, you
• 5:41
  don't remember this. But we've met before and I went,
• 5:45
  oh, tell me how we've met before and he said, you shot with the
• 5:48
  Swedish Chef and you were kind enough to make my son, a video
• 5:53
  who was a fan, and my response was yes, I am that kindness
• 5:56
  person, that did that. I bet you remember that right
• 6:00
  now at the beginning of this audition.
• 6:01
  Sure. Yeah.
• 6:03
  It was for his birthday to. You said, happy birthday to him
• 6:06
  and how he he just couldn't believe it.
• 6:08
  He was like so taken and I never forgot that.
• 6:12
  And here we are baby. Yeah, I'm going to second that.

  I think the first impression I got when we logged on I did one
• 6:18
  scene on my own and then Lily came on or it was vice versa.
• 6:22
  I don't know. But the first thing that she
• 6:24
  said to me she's like, hey, and immediately Okay.
• 6:28
  So this is what we're going to do.
• 6:29
  She did care that like all the guys were like on the zoom.
• 6:33
  She was like I'm gonna tell you what I'm doing.
• 6:36
  Yeah. And she's like, let me tell you
• 6:37
  like all is good, like we're just gonna have fun.
• 6:41
  Just be present with me like whatever and I was just like, oh
• 6:44
  my God knows, it's really sweet. And also annoying of me because
• 6:50
  I'm a control freak obviously. But yeah.

  We're very Nora Nora know and and you know we were just taking
• 6:58
  With Lily right away, you know, because she had we knew we knew
• 7:02
  she had a very playful side, right?
• 7:03
  Because I was familiar with her social media side of her world
• 7:07
  and her talk show, but to see her play, something a little
• 7:12
  more, you know. Not dude, I want to say big but
• 7:16
  just, you know, just grounded real.
• 7:18
  True. You know, was just amazing
• 7:22
  because it seemed effortless, you know, she just didn't seem
• 7:26
  like she'd been doing anything other Other than that.

  So I was just, I just thought, wow, this is crazy.

  She's great. Yeah, but this is this is just a
• 7:38
  backpacking podcast. We're just going to complement
• 7:40
  each other for the next hour. Yeah, you are, you guys are
• 7:42
  unbelievable. Like, you are the most beautiful
• 7:45
  and lovely people. I've ever met.

  Do you remember what the first thing you filmed with the with
• 7:56
  the Muppets was for the show. For each of you, I do my first

  scene. I'm quite certain was after the
• 8:03
  band has their rager and I come in to be like, what are you
• 8:09
  doing? Why did you have that rager in
• 8:11
  the backyard? I want to be mad.
• 8:12
  The cops, don't be mad. I told you to get out of the
• 8:14
  shack. That was the first.
• 8:16
  It was the scene with all. All of the band members.
• 8:19
  I was a huge set up. I remember was a huge camera
• 8:22
  movement as well. We have this camera doing with a
• 8:24
  360 turn over and getting upset and cut.
• 8:29
  Yes, it was like a huge scene. I was thrust into a now she's
• 8:32
  like fronting. I was like, okay, we're going to
• 8:34
  pretend we're not breaking out. We're gonna do this team but I
• 8:36
  was dying inside for her. Yeah, like right in the middle
• 8:38
  of the chaos to, I'm sure that I'm sure that helped.
• 8:41
  Yeah, I think we cut that. Yeah.
• 8:44
  Mine was was simple. I can't remember whether it was
• 8:49
  a group seen first or whether it was just, I think it was a group
• 8:51
  seen first, where it was like all of us at once.
• 8:55
  It was the scene where like animal is chasing JJ and Taj has
• 9:01
  like the tea or something and like drops it.
• 9:04
  So I'm from episode 7. Yeah.
• 9:07
  Like we were We were shooting out of order because remember, I
• 9:09
  came in like two weeks later to you guys, I thought you did.
• 9:14
  The party scene at your house at that star is house first.
• 9:21
  That was I know that like pink outfit where I had my hair was
• 9:28
  in a bun. Oh, yeah, yeah.
• 9:31
  Your by yeah. That's how I remembered.
• 9:34
  No. Okay.

  Okay. Then like later in the day, I
• 9:38
  had scenes alone and I was like, oh my God like alone.
• 9:42
  As in just me and zoo and just me and Floyd and it was me
• 9:47
  giving Zoo a haircut and doing the Floyd's makeup or something
• 9:54
  or a charges makeup to get in the chair.
• 9:58
  I think that was the next day. Day.

  Oh I see. Okay, it might have been a all
• 10:02
  of the same day, who knows? I can't remember.

  It was so many giving. Like you said, you guys had to
• 10:07
  jump around from show to show and see ya and, but I just
• 10:10
  remember it just being chaos and I and, and Dave in the scene
• 10:14
  where I was cutting his hair like Dave was like on a little
• 10:16
  like, rolly underneath me and I was like, whoa.
• 10:19
  Like this is so crazy. This is like the magic and The
• 10:22
  Madness of the science behind how these guys make this work.
• 10:25
  Like I had no warning go again. They were just like by the way
• 10:28
  like sets are built like 34 feet up, enjoy, have fun.
• 10:33
  Like I was just hired. No warning.
• 10:35
  I didn't know that there were like holes in the ground or
• 10:38
  yeah, you know, I had to like not fall in but yeah, it was it
• 10:43
  was pretty pretty awesome and Bill I remember you came up to
• 10:47
  Dave when we were shooting that scene where I'm cutting his
• 10:51
  hair. Yeah.
• 10:53
  And you whispered something in his ear oh really.
• 10:56
  You remember what it was? Because he whispered something
• 10:58
  in his ear I was like oh Like, do you have notes?

  Dead silent. Nothing for you, you're good.

  Yeah I'm looking for you and I am and all I remember like being
• 11:12
  able to hear was like That's all.

  I know. I don't remember what I said.

  I wish I wish I did. I have a terrible memory.

  I wish I did remember what it was, but I do recall.

  Now, the bit about, I had nothing to say.

  I thought you were just great. I just wanted Dave to mess with

  you a little bit I guess. Yeah, I was like something

  different. I was like this is a first date

  S. I think it was pretty cool.

  It's Joe. Can I just ask one quick

  question that we Taj. Of course, I'm just curious the

  idea of shooting out of order the way we did right shows
• 11:53
  scenes, did you guys? How did you feel about that
• 11:57
  process? Because in one way it's a big
• 12:00
  long movie, right? So you have all that information
• 12:03
  ahead of time. Does that feed your character or
• 12:08
  does it do both as if your character and then, but then is
• 12:10
  it difficult? Because now you've got to
• 12:12
  remember where you were in the that episode.
• 12:14
  Is it a A beneficial thing or there, what are the pros and
• 12:17
  cons to being an actor who has to kind of block shoot and you
• 12:21
  know approach seems like that. I mean for me personally I think
• 12:26
  there's pros and cons. I mean, I've never had an
• 12:29
  experience where I shot something from in order
• 12:31
  beginning to end. I've never had that experience.
• 12:33
  It feels like that would be really cool because you'd be
• 12:37
  able to like know where your character is at all times and
• 12:39
  you wouldn't have to go back and figure it out.
• 12:41
  Having said that from like a human standpoint getting to be
• 12:44
  able to You know, people and like me getting to be able to
• 12:47
  nosara and no thoughts and then. Okay, now we have a scene where
• 12:50
  like we're at a party was really good.
• 12:52
  Friends were actually really good friends at that point so
• 12:54
  there's no lying so but I won't lie for me, I had to before we
• 12:58
  shot any scene. I did have to read everything
• 13:00
  before and everything. After to be like, I had notes on
• 13:02
  my script that was like, Nora right now is still really
• 13:04
  insecure because X Y Zed just happened before this.
• 13:07
  This has not happened yet. So like you do have to put
• 13:09
  yourself in that head space which is a little challenging
• 13:11
  but like that's part of the fun. You say X Y Zed?
• 13:15
  Yes, I'm Canadian Navy XYZ. I thought you were talking about
• 13:20
  the music producer who appears in the show.
• 13:23
  It's exactly crazy how so many people from around the world
• 13:26
  say, said it's almost like it's the correct way to say it.
• 13:30
  Well, I think I think we've just had some shade thrown in our
• 13:33
  Direction As Americans, how about Sarah, but so I'm just
• 13:38
  going to sorry if she had her kind of feeling toward that
• 13:42
  right before the, I think it. Like the summer before.
• 13:47
  I thought Muppets, I shot a show like we shot three seasons,
• 13:53
  season 3, 4 and 5 of a show that I've been doing for a little
• 13:56
  while all at once. Hmm, and so after that, I
• 14:01
  serious, I was like, okay, I'm ready for war, like, I'm ready
• 14:05
  for anything. But, like, at that point, we
• 14:09
  were jumping from season five to season 3 to season Midway
• 14:14
  through. In for in a day.
• 14:16
  Wow and so yeah that's big it was kind of nuts but it was a
• 14:22
  really amazing practice for me as an actor to kind of jump
• 14:27
  between and be able to kind of just fine-tune skill in that
• 14:35
  way. Just to be able to jump back and
• 14:37
  forth and to be able to Pivot, you know, at any point during
• 14:42
  the day, into a different Rent a different stage of a character's
• 14:47
  life. And so it wasn't, it was a
• 14:51
  challenge, of course, but it wasn't something like out of the
• 14:53
  ordinary for me. So we were breathing when you're
• 14:58
  working with wonderful people around you that are there to
• 15:02
  remind you like what your character had just been through
• 15:04
  or what she was thinking about. In that moment, I think that's
• 15:09
  that's I think when shooting with the Muppets, the greatest
• 15:12
  challenge is not block shooting. Greatest challenges.
• 15:17
  I just need one of you to be able to grab the phone.
• 15:21
  That's in my hand. That's greatest challenge.
• 15:24
  It's animal. Can you just take this prop for
• 15:26
  me? Please, this is not be a
• 15:28
  six-hour set up where you need. Yeah, yeah, Muppets are hard to
• 15:34
  work with and I hope, I hope well.

  I mean their Delight, but they're difficult, but let's

  talk about this episode where the Muppets get to do things

  that maybe Be maybe there were some more 6, our setups.

  We start our cold open, we're back in the Mayhem van.

  We got a couple of Easter eggs, right off the bat.

  Finiti and the background, I made that I had a feeling you

  did and then they pass a pizza twins restaurant.

  Just now things are news to me, honestly, both of these things.

  Just very quickly, we had to remove stuff that you couldn't

  and so they were going to remove it.

  Well, if you're going to remove it, can we replace it and so

  that for me was an opportunity, well, let's make it something

  that fits. Oh yeah, for have J, finity JJ's

  company. That was great.

  And then the last shot was you very quick, but it's like, it's

  own van, like Stairway to Heaven and you all kind of do this deep

  stare directly into the barrel of a camera.

  Which is hysterical. This must have.

  So, you know, my mom, she liked actually doesn't care.

  Like it's very hard to impress this woman, and so like she was

  like, it's kind of cool that was it.

  And I was like that's how I know that you said kind of ultimate

  compliment like, pretty good ultimate compliment.

  Yeah. Or just like the head nod and

  you're just like, ahh, they recognized They were big gift

  for us. We were excited.

  It was just the idea that maybe we could because I don't I

  didn't think they did that many. At least recently, things to

  know I did some research into it.

  They've done a lot of like, animated things, like things

  were they don't actually to be presence or interviews together

  or whatever. I know they had talked about

  doing a new Cheech and Chong movie.

  I do Mom 2008 or so, so they're obviously working together but

  it's rare to see them on screen. Seen in care whether I want and

  then like they're sort of, they're wearing costumes that

  are reminiscent of their old school Vibe.

  Yeah, it was great. I thought we were sort of making

  history. It felt like I was just I, I

  kind of freaked out because I we knew that we had got got them to

  come in, they're coming. And so I kind of tried to tailor

  our script to their kind of cadence, what?

  I remember it as a kid the man's and you know how many men's they

  say after certain things, and I went and spoke to Tommy Chong

  and asked him how he felt and he goes.

  Well yeah. This feels like us, man.

  That's a good comment. Yeah.

  Oh yeah, that's great. So really good.

  Yeah. Were you there in the hair and

  makeup trailer Lily when they gave out little gifts?

  And and I came back and I got my record son, he's like yeah, did

  you get my in my toy car signed? No, I did.

  I did not. He's like uh-huh and he has not.

  Toy cars sound was such a good Adam impersonation, but yeah,

  that was really got this out. He makes it was really, really,

  I think it could cause a Great Divide in our friendship.

  I'm so sorry when mooc falls through the floor and you see

  him downstairs. There's a light that's coming

  through the window and you see there's dust and smoke and
• 21:50
  little particles of things. Smokes and stuff.

  There wasn't any of that there? And he was like, you know what,

  we got to feel that it can we have some of that and it was

  like a few couple rounds of going back with notes but it

  just you don't you don't you see it but you know you don't

  realize they'll all the details and how much detail Jeff thinks
• 22:13
  about when it comes to things like that, it's really cool.

  If you go back and look at the beautiful things about working
• 22:18
  on the show, as I very quickly, learned how much Everyone Cared
• 22:22
  about all the tiny details and I really like as a creative, I
• 22:26

  kind of like out and people are having reactions to it.

  I had the time to sit back and kind of reflect on the whole

  journey and kind of process it all now, like a year.

  Later and I just I do, I think when you're in it and you're

  doing a dream project like this, you sometimes don't realize what

  you're doing in the moment and you kind of try to pinch

  yourself then but you don't, it doesn't really click until much

  later and I think over the past little while, it's all really

  started processing for me. And I've been able to sit back

  and realize just how freaking magnificent These people are and

  I don't know, I think I'll be thanking my lucky stars every

  every single day for, for crossing paths, with all these

  wonderful human beings and and Muppets just to add on to that

  would say, I do remember a day when me Sarah and thought, I

  don't think honors was on set this day where, you know, our

  names were announced as part of being passed and we were like
• 1:12:00
  having a breakdown were like, oh my goodness.

  We are the annoying humans that are going To be part of the

  Muppets and people just want to see The Muppets and we were
• 1:12:08
  little stressed about, you know, we're very aware that the

  Muppets are so beloved and people want to see The Muppets

  and we wanted to do justice, and make sure people knew that we

  were there to like make them shine and like be there to
• 1:12:19
  complement, not to take anything away from them.

  So we really stressed before I came out, honestly, about just

  like how people would react but I think your kudos to the

  writers and the creators and producers because I think that

  balance is so perfect and I hope people when they watch the show

  die-hard Muppet fans can feel that that we're not, I'm just

  We're not there to take the spotlight, it is about the

  Beloved Muppets and we're there to just like bring bring

  ourselves to their world, you know?

  And so but I do remember us having I remember because I had
