Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, America's crime crisis is a major focus on
- 0:02Speaker 1: Capitol Hill this week. This is Washington.
- 0:04Speaker 2: DC.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Police have released new photos of the third suspect connected
- 0:08Speaker 1: to the murder of Congressional intern Eric Tarpinion Jackum. His mother,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Tamra joins me. Now, tamer thank you so much for
- 0:15Speaker 1: being here this morning. We're not going to forget your
- 0:17Speaker 1: son as these new pictures are released. So what is
- 0:20Speaker 1: the latest investigators are telling you about who's responsible.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Well, first of all, thank you. They're looking for this
- 0:30Speaker 2: last homicide suspect for my son. He's been hiding for
- 0:35Speaker 2: quite a while and I know they'll find him, but
- 0:40Speaker 2: it's gonna you know, it's taking some time. He can't
- 0:44Speaker 2: hike forever.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And your son was coln the crossfire of what shooters
- 0:48Speaker 1: were hoping would be an attack on someone else. Is
- 0:50Speaker 1: that right?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah? Seventy nine bullet casings.
- 0:55Speaker 1: My gosh, seventy nine bullet casings.
- 0:59Speaker 2: What would they think? That's what they're monsters? My opinion,
- 1:05Speaker 2: You don't do that to anyone. Innocent people were hurt.
- 1:08Speaker 2: My son got four bullet holes in them. My son
- 1:12Speaker 2: didn't survive, you know, other people survived, thankfully. This can
- 1:18Speaker 2: happen anywhere in America. He was innocent. And House Committee,
- 1:24Speaker 2: September eighteenth, we're talking about safety for people in DC,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and the Council just sat there with the same old,
- 1:35Speaker 2: same ole. They don't want to change. They want these
- 1:38Speaker 2: young violent criminals just to get a slap on the
- 1:41Speaker 2: wrist and go back out and do that. And until
- 1:44Speaker 2: things change, it will happen again in DC, until they
- 1:48Speaker 2: change the laws for violent teen criminals and hold them accountable,
- 1:53Speaker 2: and we're all at risk across America, until they realize
- 2:00Speaker 2: that this is not right. People need to be held
- 2:02Speaker 2: accountable for their actions and they're not, so it's a
- 2:06Speaker 2: free for all. And I feel that we're all at risk.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And what happened to mister Federico's daughter, there's an example.
- 2:17Speaker 2: There's another example with the girl getting slashed. There's a
- 2:22Speaker 2: lot of examples out there, and it doesn't seem like
- 2:24Speaker 2: one side will learn. They just keep letting it happen.
- 2:28Speaker 2: And for what reason, I don't know. I don't know
- 2:31Speaker 2: why they don't want safety, tim or.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I understand where you're coming from. You know, there is
- 2:35Speaker 1: a bill making its way through Congress right now that
- 2:39Speaker 1: would charge teenagers as young as fourteen years old teenagers
- 2:44Speaker 1: who commit serious crimes as adults. It did pass the House,
- 2:47Speaker 1: it's awaiting a vote in the Senate. It sounds like
- 2:50Speaker 1: that's something that you would support, Is that right?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yes, I would support that because if you're old enough
- 2:55Speaker 2: to hold a gun, you're old enough maybe to shoot
- 2:58Speaker 2: the gun or use the gun to threaten people, then
- 3:02Speaker 2: you should be charged as an adult. I mean, if
- 3:06Speaker 2: they want to act like men and you know women,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's only guys, then all them responsible.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's not working the way they have. You know. The
- 3:17Speaker 2: sad part about it is my son will not be
- 3:20Speaker 2: the first. He has not been the first, and he
- 3:22Speaker 2: will not be the last that will be gunned down
- 3:24Speaker 2: on a street by young teens. There was one in
- 3:28Speaker 2: New York. A boy got shot in the head at
- 3:30Speaker 2: dunkin Donuts. It was rival gangs. He's dead. I think
- 3:34Speaker 2: he was thirteen years old. This isn't a joke anymore.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And I don't understand why people can't work together to
- 3:41Speaker 2: come to a common cause. It could be their kids.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I don't care if you're a Democrat. I don't care
- 3:46Speaker 2: if you're an independent. I don't care if you're a Republican.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It can happen to their family, their kids, on a
- 3:51Speaker 2: college campus, it can happen anywhere, and they just don't care.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And when I listened to committee last week, a lot
- 3:58Speaker 2: of friends were here that a demos. One woman almost
- 4:01Speaker 2: threw her shoe at my TV. She's like, they're talking
- 4:04Speaker 2: about tariffs. They're not even talking about what they're supposed
- 4:06Speaker 2: to be talking They're talking about the Epstein files. They're
- 4:09Speaker 2: not talking about safety for people on the streets of DC.
- 4:13Speaker 2: They're not even talking about it. They're holding up signs.
- 4:16Speaker 2: She goes, I felt like I was in a second
- 4:17Speaker 2: grade classroom with you know, pointing these some of these Democrats,
- 4:23Speaker 2: they didn't care. They didn't care about Eric, They don't
- 4:26Speaker 2: care about the Logans of the world. They don't care
- 4:28Speaker 2: about the Charlie Kirks of the world. They really don't care.
- 4:31Speaker 2: They have an agenda, and I don't know what that
- 4:33Speaker 2: agenda is. Is to eliminate people in vicious crime. That's
- 4:39Speaker 2: how I can think of. And I feel bad for
- 4:41Speaker 2: the police officers. They're putting their lives on the line
- 4:44Speaker 2: for what for these people to be let back out
- 4:46Speaker 2: on the street where they could possibly get her or killed.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's really a problem. And until we face it as
- 4:53Speaker 2: a nation and people come around and people band together,
- 4:57Speaker 2: it's going to be the same old, same hole. And
- 4:58Speaker 2: I think criminal anyone. Yesterday I saw miss Cook on TV.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Her family member was murdered. She's from DC. She went
- 5:07Speaker 2: in front of committee, she was crying, she was upset,
- 5:10Speaker 2: she went to the mayor, Bowser, she went everywhere to
- 5:13Speaker 2: no avail. It falls on dead ears. We're going to
- 5:16Speaker 2: be speaking.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I finish your thought, and then we got a run.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I wish we had more time. No, I'm just saying that. Really,
- 5:24Speaker 2: my son didn't deserve this. The people who got shot
- 5:26Speaker 2: that day, the innocent victims, did not deserve this. In DC.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It was a horrific crime in DC, and it can
- 5:33Speaker 2: happen again, and once the guard leaves. My bets are
- 5:38Speaker 2: it will happen unless the council changes their ways. Instead
- 5:41Speaker 2: of playing patty cake with these kids.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Understood, do what's right and lock them up.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I am in awe of your strength and composure to
- 5:48Speaker 1: conduct an interview like this after losing a child. Your
- 5:51Speaker 1: message is just so important and it is being heard.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Tamra to Opinion Jack, We thank you so much for joining.
