- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, everyone. This is Haley and I'm Lara and welcome
- 0:03Speaker 1: to the Body Pod. Brooke Burke, Welcome to the Body Pod.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm so happy to be here. Thanks for having me in.
- 0:17Speaker 2: What a gorgeous space. Isn't this amazing Silver Lake Downtown
- 0:20Speaker 2: La worth it?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yes, I'm so glad that we can be here with
- 0:25Speaker 1: you in person. So I am dying to know you're
- 0:30Speaker 1: a little bit about your background. How did I know
- 0:33Speaker 1: you're from Arizona?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Right? Let me take you on a walk down memory lane. Now,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 0:40Speaker 1: You are the jack of all trades, and I just
- 0:42Speaker 1: want to know, did you know at an early age
- 0:45Speaker 1: that you wanted to be a TV personality, that you
- 0:49Speaker 1: wanted to have all of these different careers.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I never thought I would I never thought I would
- 0:55Speaker 2: land in the entertainment business. I was a total tomboy.
- 0:59Speaker 2: My father called me Charlie. We watched football and did
- 1:03Speaker 2: mechanical things, and I was everything that I'm not today.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I was always fascinated by business.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I always loved to learn, but didn't really grow up
- 1:12Speaker 2: in a family that prepped me for education and that
- 1:15Speaker 2: was privileged enough to take me on that journey. And
- 1:18Speaker 2: I honestly wound up in Hollywood and in the business.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I am by I don't want to say accident, but
- 1:24Speaker 2: like one step in front of the other. Never thought
- 1:26Speaker 2: I would be in television, nor did I ever want
- 1:28Speaker 2: to be. I thought I wanted to be a CEO,
- 1:29Speaker 2: which I am now, but that's how we manifest as
- 1:32Speaker 2: young girls. But I was always fascinated by business and
- 1:36Speaker 2: came out to LA from Arizona with an acting scholarship
- 1:41Speaker 2: and to just sort of dip my toes in the
- 1:45Speaker 2: world of modeling and advertising. Back then, I wasn't tall enough.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I was standing on my tippy toes trying to be
- 1:51Speaker 2: three inches taller than I am, So I was never
- 1:53Speaker 2: going to make it as a model, but I damn
- 1:55Speaker 2: faked it and that was my ticket out to LA
- 1:59Speaker 2: and then I never really I really looked back. But
- 2:01Speaker 2: I did study broadcast journalism and business advertising at in
- 2:07Speaker 2: Santa Monica and also at UCLA, and then I had
- 2:10Speaker 2: the opportunity to host wild On, so that took me
- 2:12Speaker 2: on a travel stint around the world. So I didn't finish,
- 2:16Speaker 2: but I took advantage of that once at a lifetime
- 2:18Speaker 2: opportunity and got my greatest education on the road.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Well, didn't you have an infant on the road month?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:26Speaker 1: I traveled with you on Wild on Eth.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Well, buzz kill everybody. I wasn't the quintessential party girl.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I was actually pregnant for most of the show, seeing
- 2:34Speaker 2: less and less and less of me, and as you
- 2:35Speaker 2: can imagine, parts of me were growing and growing and growing.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Pretty soon it was just boobs and face.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But yes, I did forty countries with my daughter in
- 2:44Speaker 2: two years. How a zest for life that was reality
- 2:48Speaker 2: television before reality television. Took my oldest daughter, Mariyah on
- 2:52Speaker 2: the road with me and we were just a package deal.
- 2:55Speaker 2: We were a team and it was so fun and
- 2:57Speaker 2: so fering, and I honestly we were just joking around
- 2:59Speaker 2: before we started recording this podcast about how I did it.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I don't know if I would have done what I
- 3:05Speaker 2: did then now today, knowing what I know, I just
- 3:08Speaker 2: was not naive, but I was just maybe a little crazy,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but I didn't know better.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I didn't have friends with children.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I was just finding my own way, and I raised
- 3:17Speaker 2: her attachment bonding, never left her for five years.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Took her all over the world with.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Me, including like the Belizian jungle and Abisa in Italy
- 3:25Speaker 2: and Morocco. I mean she filled up her passport by
- 3:28Speaker 2: the time she was two. It was slightly crazy, amazing, beautiful,
- 3:34Speaker 2: just god, what a story she has to tell. Oh yes,
- 3:38Speaker 2: I made her a baby book called wild On Baby.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So just to show you, I was not the party girl.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I actually was with my child and a nurse in
- 3:47Speaker 2: my hotel room while the party was going on at
- 3:49Speaker 2: the club. So my life is really pretty boring.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So what brought you? How long did you do Wild Honey?
- 3:58Speaker 2: I did two years and then got pregnant with Sierra.
- 4:02Speaker 2: They're two years apart, and then I was like I
- 4:04Speaker 2: got to unpacked my bags and got off the road.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And then I went on to do a couple more
- 4:08Speaker 2: shows at E and then that segued into a network gig.
- 4:13Speaker 2: My first show was with Mark Burnett hosting rock Star,
- 4:16Speaker 2: which was amazing, so amazing, so fun on it was
- 4:21Speaker 2: celebrating undiscovered talent. I was terrified to do that show
- 4:26Speaker 2: and have that opportunity with him, but I learned so much.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And then just a whole series of other things, and
- 4:31Speaker 2: then probably the greatest event was Dancing with the Stars.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Dance I don't know, it was better dancing or hosting.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I was gonna die.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So you you danced first and then you hosted.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I danced first, which and you won somehow on a
- 4:47Speaker 2: Women of Prayer, I won, but I'll tell you how
- 4:49Speaker 2: and why I won. But my management team wanted me
- 4:54Speaker 2: to host the show, not dance on the show, and
- 4:57Speaker 2: I was like, you know what, as a host, I
- 4:59Speaker 2: wanted to dants on the show and see what it's
- 5:01Speaker 2: like and get to know America who I really am,
- 5:04Speaker 2: stripped down, unedited, doing something really scary outside of my
- 5:09Speaker 2: comfort zone. And I felt like that was a great
- 5:12Speaker 2: opportunity for me to really connect with women and moms
- 5:15Speaker 2: around the world. And I had a three month old
- 5:19Speaker 2: and I was my hormones. I was on a roller coaster.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I didn't know whether I was coming or going. I
- 5:24Speaker 2: had four children at home. My relationship was an stellar
- 5:28Speaker 2: at the time, I had a baby and I signed
- 5:33Speaker 2: up for The Impossible. It was a seven day a
- 5:35Speaker 2: week gig. People don't realize how hard it is. I
- 5:37Speaker 2: don't know if it's as hard today because they have
- 5:39Speaker 2: a lesser schedule, But at that time, we were live
- 5:42Speaker 2: two days a week, we were training seven days a
- 5:44Speaker 2: week performing two days.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I had a baby and three other kids.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was a lot, so like I would
- 5:50Speaker 2: get home and my night shift would start and I
- 5:52Speaker 2: was just grinding it out. It was the scariest thing
- 5:57Speaker 2: I've ever done in my life, dancing, So after.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be mine show.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Well, I mean not only that you're being judged, fifteen
- 6:06Speaker 2: plus million people are watching it, you're doing something you've
- 6:09Speaker 2: never done before. I couldn't remember if it was left
- 6:12Speaker 2: foot or right foot. I was terrible at choreography. I
- 6:15Speaker 2: happened to have the greatest pro, Derek Huff at the
- 6:18Speaker 2: time ever, who was such a phenomenal coach.
- 6:21Speaker 3: And teacher and meticulous hard so hard on me. I
- 6:25Speaker 3: could take it. I like tough love.
- 6:28Speaker 2: He really demanded perfection, and I learned how to train
- 6:31Speaker 2: like an athlete.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I was scared shitless. It was harder than childbirth.
- 6:36Speaker 2: And finally when we got in it to win it
- 6:38Speaker 2: about I want to say, like six weeks into the program,
- 6:42Speaker 2: everybody wants to injure themselves or quit that show.
- 6:44Speaker 3: By the way, if you.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Get to the semi finals, you do and nobody will
- 6:48Speaker 2: ever talk about it. Cheryl Burke's a good friend of mine.
- 6:50Speaker 2: She has a very controversial podcast, so we talk about
- 6:53Speaker 2: it all. But everybody that goes on that show, it's
- 6:55Speaker 2: so hard to show it for yourself seven days a week.
- 6:57Speaker 3: It's hard.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Physically, it's hard. Emotionally, it's hard to speak. Actually, it's
- 7:01Speaker 2: fricking hard. And then being able to train like that.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Every day you're injured, you're depleted, you're exhausted. My hormones
- 7:09Speaker 2: were raging. I wanted to go back to being mommy. Here,
- 7:12Speaker 2: I am trained, I was I was spent. Yeah, but
- 7:14Speaker 2: about midway through everything was falling apart, including my body,
- 7:19Speaker 2: my brain, my heart, my marriage and I'm kidding my
- 7:22Speaker 2: marriage was okay. It was actually a rock at the time.
- 7:25Speaker 2: But I had to just completely change my point of view.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And I think that's why athletes do so well, because
- 7:31Speaker 2: I had to retrain my brain, get in it to
- 7:33Speaker 2: win it, clutch under pressure, and show up to win
- 7:36Speaker 2: instead of dreading every day because it was physically painful
- 7:39Speaker 2: and emotionally exhausting. And Derek and I had a meeting
- 7:42Speaker 2: of the mine and where like, we're here, we might
- 7:44Speaker 2: as well win.
- 7:45Speaker 3: How did it fail to win?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Surreal, unbelievable, a massive accomplishment, which is so silly because
- 7:53Speaker 2: like you're competing for a mirror ball trophy, but I
- 7:55Speaker 2: actually have to tell you it's one of the greatest,
- 7:58Speaker 2: greatest accomplishments of my life, which sounds so crazy, because
- 8:02Speaker 2: it taught me how to show up.
- 8:04Speaker 3: It taught me how to face my fear.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It taught me how to pull it together when I
- 8:07Speaker 2: was crying and injured and I wanted to go home.
- 8:09Speaker 3: It taught me how to not quit. It was an
- 8:11Speaker 3: example for my kids.
- 8:13Speaker 2: It taught me how to do something I never thought
- 8:14Speaker 2: I could do, and one of the greatest, one of
- 8:17Speaker 2: the many great lessons. If you commit to something eight
- 8:21Speaker 2: ten hours a day every day, you could do anything,
- 8:23Speaker 2: Like I could go do stand up comedy and I'm
- 8:25Speaker 2: not funny, Like seriously, you could. After hosting that show, Wow,
- 8:30Speaker 2: that's what allowed me.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think the skill set to host. I mean, I'm sorry.
- 8:34Speaker 2: After dancing on that show, it gave me a new
- 8:36Speaker 2: set of tools to go on and host because I'm like,
- 8:38Speaker 2: I can do anything, and hosting wasn't scary in life,
- 8:41Speaker 2: hosting live televisions fricking scary.
- 8:43Speaker 3: After doing that show, I was like, just bring it.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Bring it.
- 8:46Speaker 3: It was easy. I couldn't do anything.
- 8:49Speaker 2: But that's why athletes do so well because they know
- 8:51Speaker 2: how to pull it together under pressure, right, they know
- 8:53Speaker 2: how to show up.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Okay, so we're going to dive right into moving on.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Let's let's dive into menopause, because menopause is having a
- 9:08Speaker 1: moment's having because we're in it?
- 9:11Speaker 2: Or is he just having a moment right are?
- 9:15Speaker 1: We're forty seven, so we're definitely in perry. We're in
- 9:18Speaker 1: perry menopause. But this this space, it's uh, it was
- 9:23Speaker 1: never talked about. I mean, I don't know about your mom,
- 9:26Speaker 1: but my mom never. I had no clue, zero clue,
- 9:30Speaker 1: And it wasn't I don't think my mom had a clue. Yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 1: they weren't allowed to talk about it.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I have a really great relationship with my mom. I'm
- 9:37Speaker 2: so fortunate. She's amazing open about everything. When I had
- 9:42Speaker 2: the talk with my mom, let me tell you, it
- 9:44Speaker 2: was a talk like you can't imagine. We're not going
- 9:47Speaker 2: to go there on this podcast.
- 9:48Speaker 3: That's a whole other episode for us.
- 9:50Speaker 2: But menopause never, I don't even know that that generation.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I don't think they knew that they were in it
- 9:56Speaker 2: when they were in it. And my mom's a very
- 9:58Speaker 2: natural woman, like doesn't even take aspirin, antibiotics never, so
- 10:03Speaker 2: never did anything to really treat those hormones. So I
- 10:06Speaker 2: feel like our generation grew up unprepared. No one told
- 10:09Speaker 2: us about weight training. We were sort of raised. Tell
- 10:12Speaker 2: me if you agree in a society that was like,
- 10:13Speaker 2: you're gonna feel lucky, you're gonna get bloated, you're gonna
- 10:15Speaker 2: be you're gonna be you know, grumpy, You're gonna feel
- 10:19Speaker 2: like crap once a week a month. Like That's how
- 10:21Speaker 2: we grew up. And I'm not raising my daughters like that.
- 10:25Speaker 2: So I'm on a whole nother dive of this. Some ladies,
- 10:28Speaker 2: this could actually be a really beautiful decade if you
- 10:31Speaker 2: approach it differently.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Okay, so what did you experience? How was your menopause
- 10:36Speaker 1: perimenopause experience?
- 10:39Speaker 2: I started HRT before menopause. It funnies me too, funny story. Okay,
- 10:46Speaker 2: So it was at the end of my marriage and
- 10:49Speaker 2: we weren't really connected intimately.
- 10:51Speaker 3: We were struggling.
- 10:53Speaker 2: He thought that I was really grumpy and hormonal around
- 10:55Speaker 2: that time of the month. I'm kind of not, or
- 10:57Speaker 2: maybe I was, and I was in denial. I'm gonna
- 11:00Speaker 2: do some real talk with you, because some women we
- 11:02Speaker 2: don't admit or we're not even aware of what we're
- 11:04Speaker 2: in when we're in it. But I was usually pretty level.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I wouldn't really like lose my mind around PMS, and
- 11:11Speaker 2: I never really defaulted to use that as an excuse.
- 11:14Speaker 2: But I had low energy. My hips were a little achy,
- 11:17Speaker 2: my knees were like eh, I'm like, h shit, this
- 11:19Speaker 2: is the forties. Is this what it's going to be like?
- 11:23Speaker 2: I was training a lot, zero sex drive. But I
- 11:27Speaker 2: was also not super happy in my marriage. So honestly
- 11:30Speaker 2: a woman, I would I would probably say that was
- 11:33Speaker 2: more emotional than physical. But my ex who were very
- 11:37Speaker 2: good friends right now so I can speak about this openly,
- 11:39Speaker 2: he was like, we need to make some kind of
- 11:41Speaker 2: an adjustment. I'm going to do it. Do you want
- 11:42Speaker 2: to do it? Do you want to meet with this
- 11:43Speaker 2: hormone doctor. I'm like, Okay, it's not gonna say our marriage,
- 11:47Speaker 2: but sure, and so we did, and so I started
- 11:52Speaker 2: HRT and it was such an immediate and quick and
- 11:56Speaker 2: amazing fix for me. But my testosterone wasn't super low.
- 12:01Speaker 2: But I did a responsible panel because I never want
- 12:04Speaker 2: to go beyond what the norm is, whatever the hell
- 12:07Speaker 2: that means in western medicine, by the way, but I
- 12:10Speaker 2: want a cruise at optimal, at the very top of it.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Same way with my thyroid, same way with all my numbers.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Because life, kids, grind, work, we got stuff to do.
- 12:19Speaker 2: We had a lot to do. So I'm like, let
- 12:20Speaker 2: me cruise at the very top of whatever normal is
- 12:25Speaker 2: and then kicking off of you notches. But anyway, so
- 12:28Speaker 2: I started a testosterone game changer for me for energy, power, libido. Hell, yes,
- 12:35Speaker 2: probably the greatest time of my marriage on the left
- 12:38Speaker 2: during the last year event.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Okay, so this was like, this was like the miracle.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But did you had you started estrogen and progesterone or
- 12:45Speaker 1: you went on testosterone first.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I went on testosterone first for power, for memory, for strength,
- 12:51Speaker 2: for everything. So it's really interesting and like, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 2: just to bust all the myths people think, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 2: it's just a vanity play, right, and it's just for
- 13:00Speaker 2: power and strength. I think testosterone helps so many things.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I slept better, I didn't have that brain fog. I
- 13:06Speaker 2: was more powerful, I was a little bit leaner. Of course,
- 13:10Speaker 2: I got like superhero power back quick.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm getting on Oh I'm starting the testosterone.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I haven't started that yet, really, no why, I mean,
- 13:19Speaker 2: just curious why every body is so different, but just curious.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Okay, you don't need it.
- 13:23Speaker 1: To be honest. So I run these fat loss courses
- 13:27Speaker 1: and I am really using myself as a science experiment.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And so because all of these women, they asked me
- 13:34Speaker 1: all the time, well, well, Hayley, what do you think
- 13:36Speaker 1: about HRT? I said, well, I can tell you what
- 13:38Speaker 1: my experts are saying, but I'm not on it, so
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's hard for me to give a straight answer. So
- 13:45Speaker 1: I started. I just barely started estrogen in December, and
- 13:51Speaker 1: then I started well, I started progesterone and then I
- 13:55Speaker 1: started estrogen in February, so I'm still like a newbie
- 13:58Speaker 1: on it. And then and I was kind of waiting
- 14:01Speaker 1: to get my blood work done and I don't have
- 14:05Speaker 1: two seconds in a day. You probably don't either. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: can't even get to the dentist, let alone get get
- 14:10Speaker 1: on testosterol.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I feel you.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So it's just how it just hasn't happened for me yet.
- 14:14Speaker 1: But it's this is super reassuring.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Well, it's you know, it's so interesting because what works
- 14:19Speaker 2: for me might not work for both of you and
- 14:21Speaker 2: certainly everybody else. So I'm like a big believer, be
- 14:24Speaker 2: a detective, dive deep and try it.
- 14:26Speaker 3: And you've got to listen to your body.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And that body language concept for me isn't how we
- 14:30Speaker 2: carry our bodies.
- 14:31Speaker 3: It's really how we speak to our bodies. What is
- 14:32Speaker 3: going on inside?
- 14:33Speaker 2: And why? So I ask a thousand questions of myself
- 14:37Speaker 2: every day, not a thousand, but I ask ten questions
- 14:40Speaker 2: of myself every day. How am I feeling? Why am
- 14:43Speaker 2: I feeling that way? Am I fatigued? What's going on?
- 14:45Speaker 2: How's my sleep cycle? How's my body responding to my
- 14:47Speaker 2: nutritional choices? Am I being mindful? Am I giving myself
- 14:51Speaker 2: a chance to rest? And on most days there no,
- 14:53Speaker 2: there are no no, no, no no, And I'm like, okay,
- 14:55Speaker 2: why what can I tweak? What can I adjust? Can
- 14:58Speaker 2: I give myself grace? How can I do a little
- 14:59Speaker 2: bit better? And when I'm not, can I really roll
- 15:03Speaker 2: into that and then wake up tomorrow and be better.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So I'm just a big believer in even with my audience,
- 15:09Speaker 2: I would never tell women do this, I'm doing that.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I would say this is what I'm doing. This is
- 15:13Speaker 2: how I'm feeling. You got to really see what works
- 15:16Speaker 2: for you. So the testosterone amazing.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I have the same experience. It's like it's been life changing.
- 15:22Speaker 2: And then through menopause, I sort of felt like I
- 15:26Speaker 2: eased my way into it with a greater awareness. Then
- 15:30Speaker 2: I introduced estrogen and progesterone for sleep, and so now
- 15:34Speaker 2: I'm on that really good cocktail of the three. And
- 15:37Speaker 2: I do do my blood work regularly. And to just
- 15:40Speaker 2: humanize what you said, I.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Get the call you're due for your blood work, I
- 15:45Speaker 3: know I'll be there. Life is happening.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It doesn't always happen, but I struggle with a couple
- 15:50Speaker 2: of different autoimmune challenges.
- 15:51Speaker 3: So I do my.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Blood work every eight weeks like clockwork because of a
- 15:56Speaker 2: bigger issue.
- 15:57Speaker 3: So I'm a pretty good patient.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And I'll have hashimotos and I had thyroid cancer, so
- 16:02Speaker 2: my thyroid. It's really just important for me to do
- 16:06Speaker 2: that regular blood work, stay on top of it, be
- 16:08Speaker 2: a great patient, have an intimate relationship with my medical team,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and so I don't fuck around with that at all,
- 16:14Speaker 2: Like I don't stray from that. And then I let
- 16:18Speaker 2: my body be my guide and that's a little bit
- 16:20Speaker 2: dangerous of a conversation. I let my body be my
- 16:23Speaker 2: guide because I'm tuned into my body. I am deeply
- 16:27Speaker 2: aware of all the whispers that my body shares with me.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Okay, this is important because I work with women just
- 16:37Speaker 1: like you do. And one of the main patterns that
- 16:42Speaker 1: I have seen over working with thousands of women over
- 16:45Speaker 1: the last couple of years is the disassociation that we
- 16:50Speaker 1: have from ourselves. And so this resonated with me. When
- 16:55Speaker 1: I was watching a bunch of youtubes and different podcasts
- 16:59Speaker 1: that you had done. When you said be a detective,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was like, that's what I say. Be a scientist.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Be a scientist and use yourself because it does not
- 17:08Speaker 1: matter what the research says, or what Brooke says, or
- 17:11Speaker 1: what Haley says or what Lars has what works for
- 17:14Speaker 1: you because there's not one size fits all for anything.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I agree, No, I agree.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And so my whole philosophy on being that detective is
- 17:23Speaker 2: there's so much research out there anyway that's so difficult
- 17:27Speaker 2: to interpret, especially layman like we're just not if you're
- 17:30Speaker 2: not educated, I happen to.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Geek out and biohacking everything.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I'm a geek and I love information, and I'm a
- 17:36Speaker 2: sponge and I'll ask a thousand questions because I want
- 17:38Speaker 2: to know, and I'll ask a few more, and I'll
- 17:40Speaker 2: surround myself with people that are much smarter than I
- 17:44Speaker 2: am because I like to learn.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I love to be a student.
- 17:47Speaker 2: But a lot of it's intimidating, and if you don't
- 17:48Speaker 2: have the basis and the foundation and the language, it's
- 17:51Speaker 2: hard to really understand it anyway. So I think if
- 17:55Speaker 2: you deepen that awareness, if you have a greater intimate
- 17:58Speaker 2: relationship with yourself, you start to understand why am I
- 18:01Speaker 2: feeling this way?
- 18:02Speaker 3: What's going on? How do I respond to that?
- 18:04Speaker 2: And if you're someone like me and you're doing all
- 18:06Speaker 2: these great things, I couldn't really sit here and go, okay,
- 18:09Speaker 2: here's my ten daily rituals and you would say, well,
- 18:12Speaker 2: how do you feel on this and this?
- 18:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I feel pretty damn good, but it's also the combination
- 18:16Speaker 2: of everything. But when I don't feel great, I really
- 18:19Speaker 2: start to dissect that, and I start to ask myself
- 18:22Speaker 2: a lot of questions. What's going on there? Do I
- 18:24Speaker 2: eat different? Am I not getting enough sleep? Do I
- 18:26Speaker 2: need more sleep?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Right now? Or are my hormones changing again? How's my mood?
- 18:29Speaker 3: How am I meeting my body? How am I speaking
- 18:31Speaker 3: to my body? How am I feeling my body? How
- 18:33Speaker 3: am I training my body? Is my body changing? And
- 18:36Speaker 3: damn it? It always is?
- 18:39Speaker 2: Right? Always, God, the joy of being a woman, exactly,
- 18:45Speaker 2: fucking mother Nature.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Sorry, So it's one of your non negotiables, like in
- 18:49Speaker 4: your daily life sleep.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I take my sleep very serious.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Oh, we don't mess around. We were in bed by
- 18:57Speaker 1: eight pm.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I'm the person that's like count the hours of sleep
- 19:00Speaker 2: than I'm But I have a lot of non negotiables.
- 19:06Speaker 2: And I love that you use that word because I
- 19:09Speaker 2: very rarely talk about habits and resolutions and all of
- 19:13Speaker 2: these things.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It's really lifestyles for me.
- 19:15Speaker 2: But daily rituals and non negotiables are so much easier
- 19:20Speaker 2: for people to process of what is non negotiable.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I have a long list of them, Like I'm.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Sounding a lot now because I want a detox in sweat.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Get in the sauna, people, even if you have to
- 19:30Speaker 2: go pay for some sauna time. You have two opportunities.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Sweat or you're in period if you want a detox period.
- 19:37Speaker 2: So you got a detox, right, sleep for sure. Meditation,
- 19:41Speaker 2: which is a big topic we're going to touch on,
- 19:43Speaker 2: that not easy. And I've learned how to meditate in
- 19:46Speaker 2: a way that works for myself, with a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 2: grace and a lot of flexibility.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And I imagine.
- 19:55Speaker 2: A Buddhist would probably argue that my meditation might not
- 19:58Speaker 2: really be meditation. My meditation fasting is non negotiable for me,
- 20:03Speaker 2: So I do a pretty long fast every day.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Okay, what is your not every day? Sorry? I had
- 20:08Speaker 3: breakfast in bed and all day yesterday.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Okay, So in the female space right now, there's intermitt
- 20:14Speaker 1: fasting and then that kind of get fused with the
- 20:19Speaker 1: you know, eating to your circadian rhythm, which is really
- 20:21Speaker 1: time restricted eating, which sounds exactly like intermittent fasting, but
- 20:26Speaker 1: it's usually a little bit. It's like sunrise, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 1: sun up to sundown, so kind of it's a little bit.
- 20:34Speaker 2: And they are different people that are just skipping breakfast
- 20:36Speaker 2: because they're busy. That's not really intermittent fasting. Like it's
- 20:39Speaker 2: very intentional by fueling your body with great fats and
- 20:43Speaker 2: then also understanding the cellular repair opportunity in a fasting window.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But it's interesting what you said about circadian rhythm because it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Is different other non negotiables.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Laughter is medicine.
- 20:56Speaker 1: You said you weren't funny. I've already laughed.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm also just coming back from a retreat where
- 21:02Speaker 2: we did like guttural belly laughing. You know, joy, I
- 21:06Speaker 2: feel like oxytocin, you know, that love drug, that feel
- 21:10Speaker 2: good hormone that we get from connection, from sex, from orgasm,
- 21:13Speaker 2: from breastfeeding, from love, from touch, from hugging, all of
- 21:16Speaker 2: these amazing things that.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Happen in our body naturally.
- 21:21Speaker 2: And happiness, laughter, Joy for me, that lights my spirit
- 21:24Speaker 2: on fire, that fuels my soul, that gives me energy,
- 21:27Speaker 2: whether it's with my girlfriends, with my man, by myself,
- 21:30Speaker 2: here with you, with my kids, something stupid, something funny.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think that joy non negotiable. Learning how to create joy,
- 21:41Speaker 2: learning having little moments of happiness even on hard days,
- 21:44Speaker 2: but just finding things that bring you joy in your life,
- 21:48Speaker 2: whatever that is. I'm joyful. I want to make my
- 21:50Speaker 2: coffee in the morning. I drink a lot of coffee.
- 21:51Speaker 2: By the way, non negotiable, controversial. I know, I drink
- 21:56Speaker 2: a lot of macha. I drink a lot of coffee,
- 21:58Speaker 2: but it's actually like a ritual for me. It's not
- 22:00Speaker 2: that I'm addicted to coffee because I can have an
- 22:02Speaker 2: espresso and go to bed. I don't, but I could
- 22:04Speaker 2: sometimes I might. But my ritual is like smelling my
- 22:08Speaker 2: beans and grinding them and frothing my milk and putting
- 22:11Speaker 2: in my cinnamon and I like it really hot, and
- 22:13Speaker 2: I like it how I want it. But like making
- 22:15Speaker 2: it a ritual, right, And you know we've all heard
- 22:18Speaker 2: that saying that quote. I hate to be cheeky, but
- 22:21Speaker 2: like how we do anything is how we do everything.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So like even that experience that ritual, it's joyful. So
- 22:27Speaker 2: it does have to be big things, right, but like moments,
- 22:31Speaker 2: moments of happiness, kids, kissing my kids, talking my kids,
- 22:35Speaker 2: talking to my mom. I love my dog. I sweat,
- 22:39Speaker 2: I do yoga. Yoga's non negotiable for me, more of
- 22:43Speaker 2: a practice than a workout because I don't think yoga
- 22:46Speaker 2: really makes you fit. Sorry, yogi's but you know, I
- 22:49Speaker 2: strength train, I do a lot of different things for fitness,
- 22:52Speaker 2: but yoga's like my me time to get my therapy
- 22:55Speaker 2: and just do what I need to do.
- 22:57Speaker 3: It's my meditation.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Well, let's go back to meditation, because Haley and I
- 23:01Speaker 4: struggle with weird and.
- 23:04Speaker 1: It's so hard for me to say still, I'm like,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I've had large list of one million things to.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Do, so I want to know what is your meditation
- 23:12Speaker 4: practice or how have you figured it out for yourself?
- 23:16Speaker 2: Meditation is really hard. I'm learning, I'm getting better at it.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I'm not great at it. I kind of make it
- 23:24Speaker 2: up as I go along, and I've learned how to.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Let's see, so guided meditation for me works like I'm
- 23:32Speaker 2: not a person that could sit still and just breathe
- 23:35Speaker 2: and do nothing. I believe in the doing of not doing.
- 23:37Speaker 2: By the way, the art of doing nothing is really
- 23:39Speaker 2: frickin' hard. I love it, but trying to do that
- 23:42Speaker 2: for more than two minutes probably impossible for women like
- 23:45Speaker 2: us until we decide that it's possible. But I've learned
- 23:49Speaker 2: how to accept the fact that my thoughts come in
- 23:52Speaker 2: and out. They're going to rise and fall, so I
- 23:54Speaker 2: just let them and I don't beat myself up about it,
- 23:57Speaker 2: like I'm not meditating. I keep thinking, I've got that list,
- 24:00Speaker 2: what about that to do? I'll go through my to
- 24:02Speaker 2: do list. Maybe that's the top of my meditation, not
- 24:05Speaker 2: that out of the way go through your list. You
- 24:07Speaker 2: can't stop thinking because you have eight d and you've
- 24:08Speaker 2: got shit to do, and you're probably sitting there going
- 24:11Speaker 2: I have stuff to do, and I'm sitting here trying
- 24:12Speaker 2: to mediate but my list. I'm trying to meditate when
- 24:14Speaker 2: I have so much to do. So I'll go through
- 24:16Speaker 2: my list. I'll do whatever I need to do. It
- 24:18Speaker 2: might take me two, three, four or five minutes before
- 24:20Speaker 2: I can really drop into a moment where I can
- 24:23Speaker 2: quiet down the noise and tell that voice inside my
- 24:26Speaker 2: head to shut the hell up and to just be.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And my meditation might be a journey with music. It
- 24:33Speaker 2: might be nature. It might be birds, it might be jungle,
- 24:36Speaker 2: it might be water. It might be sound therapy. It
- 24:39Speaker 2: might be an intentional frequency to help me stop thinking
- 24:43Speaker 2: and relax. It might be a walk. On some days,
- 24:46Speaker 2: my meditation might not be with music. It might just
- 24:49Speaker 2: be me and myself and mother nature and walking. I
- 24:52Speaker 2: do whatever I need to do, but I make sure
- 24:55Speaker 2: that I allow myself time to just breathe and chill
- 24:57Speaker 2: and be still.
- 24:58Speaker 3: And it's not easy.
- 25:00Speaker 2: On on my yoga retreat, we meditated twice a day,
- 25:05Speaker 2: which is a lot, and I meditated with women like
- 25:08Speaker 2: us who are grinding business women a lot, going on harder, harder,
- 25:14Speaker 2: to quiet down the noise and the chaos. It was
- 25:17Speaker 2: so beautiful to watch people give themselves space and the
- 25:20Speaker 2: gift of creating, of creating like a space within places
- 25:24Speaker 2: at home, whether it's your bedroom and you have one
- 25:27Speaker 2: little space that speaks to you, make it beautiful. Put
- 25:30Speaker 2: a little plant there, Put a little crystal there. Put
- 25:32Speaker 2: your favorite little blanket there. Something that you see that
- 25:35Speaker 2: actually calls to you, or maybe it's outside on your
- 25:37Speaker 2: terrace or your balcony or wherever you live or the park.
- 25:40Speaker 3: You can take in some vitamin D. The more you
- 25:43Speaker 3: do it, the more you want.
- 25:44Speaker 2: To do it. It feels so good to slow down
- 25:47Speaker 2: because when you slow down, something's going to come up inside.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Not your list, but like it needs to come up there,
- 25:53Speaker 2: just like hey, or that connection, that awareness, that relationship.
- 25:57Speaker 2: We did this really beautiful workshop. Yeh, super simple. It
- 26:01Speaker 2: was a question that I asked everybody during retreat time.
- 26:04Speaker 2: And I had never heard this question posed to me before.
- 26:07Speaker 2: And I went through with one of my girlfriends who's
- 26:10Speaker 2: just a brilliant influence on my life, and the question
- 26:14Speaker 2: was if your heart could speak, what would it say
- 26:18Speaker 2: if your heart actually had a voice, what would it say?
- 26:21Speaker 2: So in dropping into stillness and space and commitment for
- 26:26Speaker 2: yourself and quiet, just sitting there, lying there, walking to
- 26:31Speaker 2: do nothing and to ask yourself that question, that's so beautiful.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It was really emotional, deep into like giving your heart
- 26:39Speaker 2: of voice to communicate with you. And maybe your heart's saying, hey, hey,
- 26:43Speaker 2: you're not paying attention to me, or I'm doing great,
- 26:45Speaker 2: thank you, or hey, thanks for taking care of me,
- 26:47Speaker 2: or you're not listening.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Or i'm really full, or hey what about me?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Or I need more or I feel love or thank
- 26:56Speaker 2: you or you never know, like have you ever asked
- 26:58Speaker 2: yourself that? No, we'll see it. And the reason why
- 27:03Speaker 2: we want to start crying is women is because we're
- 27:06Speaker 2: so credit taking care of everybody else, But are we
- 27:08Speaker 2: really checking in with ourselves. I would imagine that two
- 27:11Speaker 2: of you are amazing friends and mothers. I'm a great friend, Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I hope, I'm a great mom. I'd have to ask
- 27:16Speaker 2: my kids that. But we're so good at taking care
- 27:20Speaker 2: of everyone in giving and showing up whether we're sick,
- 27:23Speaker 2: we still show up and drive the kids at school,
- 27:24Speaker 2: don't we Sorry, I don't know how many men can
- 27:27Speaker 2: do that, but we show up. So I'm really slightly
- 27:32Speaker 2: obsessed in this concept and practice of working with women and.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Showing them how to shop for themselves.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Did you do this retreat more than once a year?
- 27:41Speaker 1: I know, I was like, the next.
- 27:44Speaker 2: One, I will invite you to.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I would.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Actually, it's such a gift. It's like I wasn't raised
- 27:51Speaker 2: that way. My mom never taught me about that. I
- 27:54Speaker 2: never knew about this kind of work. I was just
- 27:57Speaker 2: mommying my whole life. I was last on the total
- 28:00Speaker 2: and I was doing pretty well in that space.
- 28:02Speaker 3: By the way.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I thought, that's just how it is. I was cruising,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I thought I was doing great. I was really disconnected
- 28:07Speaker 2: and I wasn't aware of it, but it was. I
- 28:08Speaker 2: was doing really well in that space. That's how I
- 28:11Speaker 2: was able to host live television. I was greatly disconnected.
- 28:15Speaker 2: It's such a gift, and it's not to write a passage,
- 28:18Speaker 2: and nobody teaches us that.
- 28:19Speaker 3: So I feel like self care is self love. Self
- 28:23Speaker 3: love is taking care of ourselves. It's showing up.
- 28:25Speaker 2: It's time I do them three or four times a year. Yes,
- 28:29Speaker 2: please come, you have an open invitation. We're doing Costa
- 28:32Speaker 2: Rica February twenty twenty six.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Can you imagine it's a year from now.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Okay, sign I'm signing up.
- 28:38Speaker 2: If we can't figure something out in a year, it
- 28:41Speaker 2: could quite possibly be the greatest vacation ever ever. But
- 28:45Speaker 2: we do them local. We do him in Arizona, I
- 28:47Speaker 2: do him in Malibu. You could do a day treat
- 28:49Speaker 2: for God's sake.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Now I'm going to Costa Rica.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Come to Costa Rica. Costa Rica will change you.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I wanted to go for years and I never had it.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Come with me, Okay, Don and Don.
- 29:00Speaker 4: One of the things that you also say about self
- 29:02Speaker 4: love is how do you talk to the woman behind
- 29:07Speaker 4: the scenes. And that's something that has really helped me
- 29:10Speaker 4: that I've learned from you.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Thank you. How do you talk to her?
- 29:13Speaker 4: And I've been saying a lot to myself when I'm
- 29:17Speaker 4: going in a spiral of negative thoughts and help snap
- 29:20Speaker 4: me out.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And I think that's beautiful cool.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I really appreciate that I coming from somebody like you
- 29:27Speaker 2: who's has a little a little one God, it's such
- 29:31Speaker 2: a gift in an act of service and a gift
- 29:33Speaker 2: you're just like showing up, putting yourself last, taking care
- 29:37Speaker 2: of your child, mommy, doing the best you can. You're
- 29:41Speaker 2: probably crushing it. Like looking at you, you're beautiful, you've
- 29:44Speaker 2: seem like you've got it all together.
- 29:46Speaker 3: But I think what really happens is not me today,
- 29:50Speaker 3: but the.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Younger woman me and the younger me, the new mommy
- 29:55Speaker 2: me completely lost sight of that woman behind the scenes.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And I say that woman behind the scenes because she
- 30:00Speaker 2: gets lost a little bit because you're showing up and
- 30:03Speaker 2: you're doing all these things, and you're holding it together,
- 30:04Speaker 2: and you're running your household, you're running your life, you're
- 30:06Speaker 2: guiding your leading. I love that cho term, that chief
- 30:10Speaker 2: household officer, especially for those women that are stay at
- 30:14Speaker 2: home moms and think that they're not worthy.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, you have the hardest job
- 30:17Speaker 3: in the show in the world.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Because when I go to work, I feel like I
- 30:21Speaker 2: get a break from cho at home. So I have
- 30:25Speaker 2: man respect for women who are full time mommying and
- 30:30Speaker 2: tremendous compassion when they're beating themselves up because they might
- 30:35Speaker 2: not feel like that's worthy or that role is. That
- 30:37Speaker 2: is the hardest frickin' job ever. And then you start
- 30:42Speaker 2: to lose sight of that woman behind the scenes, like
- 30:44Speaker 2: who was that woman before you became a wife or
- 30:47Speaker 2: a mother or a CEO or whatever you've chosen to do.
- 30:51Speaker 2: And I think that's why I love doing this work
- 30:52Speaker 2: with women, because watching that woman come back different because
- 30:57Speaker 2: we're older, we evolve, we grow, but watching that woman
- 31:00Speaker 2: find herself again, get that mojo back, rediscover, reinvent, reimagine, pivot,
- 31:06Speaker 2: change whatever wherever you find yourself. It's really interesting. I'm
- 31:11Speaker 2: toying whether I should share this with both of you
- 31:13Speaker 2: or not, but.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Well, I thank you, but why not?
- 31:16Speaker 2: Something really profound and I don't know if it's weird
- 31:21Speaker 2: but unexpected happened to me on this retreat because I
- 31:24Speaker 2: give so much and more guiding and I'm seven days
- 31:27Speaker 2: in like ten hours a day, mind body energy, working out, meditating, guiding, yoga, crying, laughing,
- 31:32Speaker 2: all of it.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I had this wild experience.
- 31:35Speaker 2: In one of my meditations, I was guiding a guide,
- 31:38Speaker 2: I was doing a guided meditation, not important what it
- 31:41Speaker 2: was doing like a deep dive into stillness and giving
- 31:44Speaker 2: everybody a visual meditation where they could create something beautiful.
- 31:47Speaker 2: And the theme of this retreat was manifestation, so we
- 31:50Speaker 2: were manifesting all kinds of greatness, and I had this
- 31:55Speaker 2: wild experience. Maybe you'll relate to it since you asked
- 31:58Speaker 2: me the question about the woman behind the scenes. At
- 32:00Speaker 2: a table, I'm at the head of a table. It's
- 32:01Speaker 2: my table. It's like a dinner table. Okay, it's a
- 32:03Speaker 2: long table. And at this dinner all of me showed up.
- 32:09Speaker 2: All the different versions of me showed up at this
- 32:11Speaker 2: dinner table, meaning like the little girl, the little mean
- 32:13Speaker 2: It's like therapy. One on one. You go to therapy,
- 32:15Speaker 2: you go for ten years, twenty years, whatever.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I've done a lot of therapy.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I don't even do therapy anymore because now I believe
- 32:20Speaker 2: in meditation and sound bath and I do my own
- 32:22Speaker 2: little hippie things about I get my therapy done in
- 32:26Speaker 2: non traditional ways. But having gone through that, you know
- 32:29Speaker 2: you can spend years reconnecting with the younger you. Okay,
- 32:32Speaker 2: we know that.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Good.
- 32:34Speaker 2: So at this table, it was like the little me,
- 32:36Speaker 2: the bad me, the great me, the sexy me, the
- 32:38Speaker 2: slutty me, the married me, the bad ass me, the CEO,
- 32:42Speaker 2: like all of me. And I was like, whoa, And
- 32:46Speaker 2: so I'm having this dinner party table. It was a
- 32:49Speaker 2: vision sounds cuckoo, I know, literally allowing all the different
- 32:53Speaker 2: parts of my personality and all the different characteristics and
- 32:56Speaker 2: all the different versions of me to show up, And
- 32:59Speaker 2: so we went through. I had to share it obviously
- 33:01Speaker 2: because I'm in retreat mode and we're all like raw
- 33:03Speaker 2: and vulnerable, and as crazy as it sounded, it was
- 33:07Speaker 2: an amazing way to relate to all our different personalities,
- 33:13Speaker 2: all the different versions of ourselves. Like who do you
- 33:15Speaker 2: show up? Do you show up as the podcaster today?
- 33:17Speaker 2: Do you show up as the trainer? Do you show
- 33:18Speaker 2: up as mom? Do you show up his wife? Are
- 33:20Speaker 2: you the chef tonight? Are you the great friend? Are
- 33:24Speaker 2: are you the therapist? Are you the trainer?
- 33:26Speaker 3: Like?
- 33:27Speaker 2: We have all these different versions. And one of the
- 33:29Speaker 2: questions that I always ask women during retreat time is
- 33:34Speaker 2: who are you? Not like the titles that we've been
- 33:36Speaker 2: given from society, because you probably have a whole bio
- 33:39Speaker 2: list we all do, but.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Like, really who you are?
- 33:42Speaker 2: And then if you could imagine the freedom to show
- 33:47Speaker 2: up differently every day? So I've been doing this every
- 33:50Speaker 2: single day, journaling really hard for me. I would love
- 33:53Speaker 2: to share this with you. We could do a whole
- 33:54Speaker 2: podcast but asking yourself every single day, who are you
- 33:58Speaker 2: showing up as today? And it's not like, oh, I'm
- 34:00Speaker 2: going to go pretend to be this. It's literally like
- 34:02Speaker 2: today I'm complete, today, I'm ready. Today, I'm a little
- 34:06Speaker 2: bit scared. Today, I'm in my divine energy. Today I'm
- 34:09Speaker 2: super feminine and sexy. Today, I'm like today, I'm just
- 34:14Speaker 2: showing up kind of uncertain. Today, I'm a badass. Today
- 34:19Speaker 2: I'm whatever it is. And then it allows you to
- 34:23Speaker 2: just fucking show up different every single day. It was amazing.
- 34:27Speaker 2: So we did a whole workshop.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I know I have I got a therapy.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I'll do it. Let's do it.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I love it.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 34:39Speaker 1: All right, let's take a quick break to hear from
- 34:42Speaker 1: some of the body Pod sponsors. We'll be right back. Okay,
- 34:49Speaker 1: So you come back. Is there a time when you
- 34:52Speaker 1: come back that you need to integrate back into the
- 34:55Speaker 1: world after you've had this twelve days in Costa Rica.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It's really And what we do on our final day
- 35:03Speaker 2: is create a purposeful plan because you can drop out
- 35:06Speaker 2: of your world as you know it and go do
- 35:08Speaker 2: something really deep like that and then have to just
- 35:10Speaker 2: come back and your family's waiting for you. Your list
- 35:13Speaker 2: just got longer, You're behind on a thousand emails. Your
- 35:16Speaker 2: man's waiting for you, and you've changed and you're coming
- 35:20Speaker 2: home different, but nobody else has. And when we expect
- 35:25Speaker 2: that everybody is going to change with us, it's really
- 35:28Speaker 2: disappointing and it will really fuck you up. So I
- 35:31Speaker 2: have to go through this whole purposeful plan with everybody
- 35:34Speaker 2: and warn them that they have to sort of ease
- 35:37Speaker 2: into it, and I walk the talk and I go
- 35:40Speaker 2: through it myself. So my man came to Costa Rica
- 35:42Speaker 2: to see me the last two days, and I'm already
- 35:44Speaker 2: prepared for that, like I'm in my divine energy. I've
- 35:47Speaker 2: been with sixteen women. I'm completely vulnerable, available, I'm like
- 35:51Speaker 2: a goddess. But I am not ready for masculine energy
- 35:55Speaker 2: to roll in. I'm not even prepared for this. So
- 35:59Speaker 2: it's kind of like tiptoe and you have to ease
- 36:01Speaker 2: into it. And I think as we evolve and we
- 36:04Speaker 2: grow as women and we learn, we really have to
- 36:07Speaker 2: I think my opinion is that we have to not
- 36:10Speaker 2: expect people to.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Be ready for that and to change with us, but
- 36:16Speaker 3: we have.
- 36:17Speaker 2: To demand alignment in our inner circle so that we
- 36:22Speaker 2: surround ourselves with people not who are going where we're going,
- 36:25Speaker 2: but allow us to go where we're going.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Does that make sense?
- 36:27Speaker 2: And it's really hard because not everybody's going to show
- 36:30Speaker 2: up with you, but we have to be able to say,
- 36:33Speaker 2: I'm kind of in it right now when I'm going
- 36:35Speaker 2: for this, So can you just give me some grace
- 36:37Speaker 2: or I'm going to borrow my friends writer, because I've
- 36:40Speaker 2: used this line so many times in business and it
- 36:43Speaker 2: has saved my ass, and I've used it in my relationship.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Everybody write down this line. If you're listening. The line
- 36:50Speaker 2: is I'm shoving up differently and here's why. And I
- 36:52Speaker 2: need you to show up differently for me, because who
- 36:57Speaker 2: is going to argue with that? Because the younger me.
- 37:00Speaker 2: And when I say younger me, I'm talking about six
- 37:02Speaker 2: months ago me. I remember being like, I'm doing all
- 37:05Speaker 2: these things and like nobody's rising to the occasion. I've
- 37:07Speaker 2: learned all this and yeah I'm grinding and yeah I'm harder,
- 37:10Speaker 2: and nobody else is like keeping up and like, but
- 37:13Speaker 2: I thought everybody's just going to show up like me.
- 37:15Speaker 2: So I had to say I'm showing up differently because
- 37:18Speaker 2: of X Y and Z, So I kind of need
- 37:21Speaker 2: you to meet me, like I need you to like
- 37:22Speaker 2: level up if you can with me, or just understand
- 37:26Speaker 2: that I'm showing up differently and it's hard when you
- 37:29Speaker 2: come back from change, you grow, you evolve, we change,
- 37:36Speaker 2: or we stay the same.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Yeah, is the message usually received? Well? Does it ever
- 37:41Speaker 3: make anyone pause and take stock? Even almost you know.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Not everybody understands, Like I had to learn how to
- 37:52Speaker 2: accept all of the different personalities in my household because
- 37:55Speaker 2: I have six children at home right now, six that
- 37:57Speaker 2: feels like.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Twenty not twenty.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and a man and animal. It's okay, But if
- 38:05Speaker 2: I was expecting everybody to show up at family dinner
- 38:07Speaker 2: because I've made this gorgeous dinner, I want everybody to
- 38:09Speaker 2: sit down at five o'clock and be happy.
- 38:11Speaker 3: We're gonna sit down at the table and connect and
- 38:12Speaker 3: we're gonna talk tonight.
- 38:14Speaker 2: And they're like, they're on a completely different story than
- 38:17Speaker 2: I have just choreographed for my family. And I used
- 38:20Speaker 2: to be so disappointed as a younger mom, Like I
- 38:23Speaker 2: worked so hard on this meal, and you guys have
- 38:25Speaker 2: been gone at school and I've been traveling. We haven't
- 38:27Speaker 2: seen each other and how come everybody doesn't want to
- 38:29Speaker 2: just sit around the table and connect.
- 38:30Speaker 3: It's like our conference room. We're gonna have a meeting tonight.
- 38:34Speaker 1: That's mandatory. It was not negotiable.
- 38:37Speaker 3: No one was interested in my meeting.
- 38:40Speaker 2: So I've had to like learn and work so hard
- 38:42Speaker 2: at this, and I'm still working hard on it. How
- 38:45Speaker 2: to allow everybody to just show up where they are.
- 38:49Speaker 2: And then I want everybody to allow me to show
- 38:51Speaker 2: up where I am. And I think that's you know,
- 38:54Speaker 2: I'm fifty three. I think that's I've learned to do that.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I've learned to accept all the different personalities around me.
- 39:01Speaker 2: But I've also learned how to define my boundaries and
- 39:04Speaker 2: to ask for what I want and what I need,
- 39:07Speaker 2: or to give everybody a gentle warning, like I can
- 39:10Speaker 2: say to my man, now, just a little heads up,
- 39:14Speaker 2: I'm not feeling great. I'm super tired, I'm edgy, I'm hormonal,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I'm not in the mood.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Heads up.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Where before before, I mean, we've all been through that.
- 39:24Speaker 2: You're giggling, but it's like before you're like a tiger,
- 39:28Speaker 2: you're like mama bear. But as soon as I think
- 39:30Speaker 2: you learn how to understand all that and then give
- 39:33Speaker 2: it some verbiage, give it a dialogue. People do great
- 39:38Speaker 2: if you ask. People do great if you ask of
- 39:40Speaker 2: them what you need. But as women, do we really
- 39:43Speaker 2: ask for what we need? Or do we just figure
- 39:45Speaker 2: it out and multitask the hell out of it and
- 39:47Speaker 2: then get frustrated.
- 39:47Speaker 3: When no one's giving us what we need?
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's.
- 39:50Speaker 3: A loaded, loaded question, But I mean, what do you think?
- 39:53Speaker 1: Well, okay, here's here's where my mind just went. You
- 39:58Speaker 1: mentioned boundaries, and this this is something that I have
- 40:00Speaker 1: struggled with my entire life. I did not know boundaries.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I didn't I was just I was the people pleaser,
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know. I did what everyone asked me to do
- 40:12Speaker 1: my whole life up until maybe four years ago. And
- 40:16Speaker 1: I'm still working on it. I'm not great, but I'm
- 40:18Speaker 1: still working on it. And I wanted to ask you
- 40:22Speaker 1: about your boundaries and how you've taught because you have three,
- 40:27Speaker 1: you have daughters, how have you taught them to trust
- 40:33Speaker 1: themselves and to be firm with boundaries and that it's
- 40:36Speaker 1: okay to have boundaries.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, before you asked them that question. I
- 40:40Speaker 2: want to ask you a question just because I think
- 40:42Speaker 2: it's important for listeners.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Were you raised that way? Did your parents?
- 40:48Speaker 2: Were you a pleaser because you were trying to make
- 40:50Speaker 2: everything good and be good because it was easier.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I grew up in functional chaos, so I would say yes,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I was the people pleaser because it was the easiest.
- 41:00Speaker 1: It was the easiest personality to blend in and not
- 41:03Speaker 1: have to the rest of my siblings push back and fight,
- 41:06Speaker 1: and I was just like.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Mediating, surviving.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Yes, so I was a similar child a lot of chaos.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I think that's why I'm able to witness without judgment
- 41:20Speaker 2: a lot of different personalities and what people bring to
- 41:25Speaker 2: bring to the table, because I witnessed so much chaos
- 41:28Speaker 2: growing up. But it's it's an amazing skill set to
- 41:32Speaker 2: be able to unapologetically create boundaries for yourself because if
- 41:39Speaker 2: you do, and if you do it with integrity, and
- 41:42Speaker 2: you do it elegantly. Maybe that's not the right word,
- 41:45Speaker 2: because sometimes mine not so elegant, But if you can
- 41:48Speaker 2: do it in a way.
- 41:51Speaker 1: It doesn't have to offend exactly.
- 41:54Speaker 2: It's like tone and timing. I like this T and
- 41:56Speaker 2: T concept. How do you ask for what you need?
- 41:58Speaker 2: What's the tone of it, the timing of it? But
- 42:02Speaker 2: less than even asking for what you need. How are
- 42:04Speaker 2: you worthy enough to be able to say these are
- 42:08Speaker 2: my boundaries, my non negotiables, and this doesn't work for me,
- 42:11Speaker 2: or this is the only way that it works for me.
- 42:14Speaker 2: I need you to be different, I need you to
- 42:15Speaker 2: do this. I am doing this differently, and I'm setting
- 42:21Speaker 2: this boundary because I'm taking care of me in this space.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I try to teach my daughters to use their words,
- 42:28Speaker 2: to live out loud, and to be unapologetic. And it's
- 42:31Speaker 2: really interesting to watch them navigate their life different fathers.
- 42:34Speaker 2: So two of my children, four of my children have
- 42:36Speaker 2: two different fathers, and Scott has two children, So we
- 42:39Speaker 2: got a lot of personalities and a lot of different
- 42:41Speaker 2: styles that I have to accept because they're different than
- 42:44Speaker 2: my own. Right, So I'm only bringing, you know, my
- 42:47Speaker 2: mindset to raising and rearing our family.
- 42:50Speaker 3: But I'm teaching them.
- 42:54Speaker 2: How to take ownership, take responsibility, be accountable yes, yes,
- 43:00Speaker 2: but not to apologize for everything that goes wrong when
- 43:05Speaker 2: someone's disappointed. And most people think you just say sorry,
- 43:09Speaker 2: which means you haven't really stood your ground. It's a
- 43:12Speaker 2: really hard lesson and it's interesting you ask it because
- 43:14Speaker 2: I'm in it, right, now with my daughters where they're like, well,
- 43:16Speaker 2: it's just easier to just say sorry, I'm like super generous.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Totally get that true choice.
- 43:24Speaker 2: But the other choice would be able to sort of
- 43:27Speaker 2: take ownership in your behavior and maybe apologize for how
- 43:31Speaker 2: the other person's feeling, but not necessarily how you showed up.
- 43:34Speaker 2: And it's really tricky, and I think creating boundaries. I'll
- 43:38Speaker 2: give you an example. As a mom, because I have
- 43:40Speaker 2: so many children, I'm always going to miss something always,
- 43:44Speaker 2: which is heartbreaking as a mother. You don't want to
- 43:46Speaker 2: miss that play, don't want to miss that track me.
- 43:48Speaker 2: You don't want to miss that first game. And if
- 43:50Speaker 2: I can organize my life when I'm able to with
- 43:53Speaker 2: work in the industry, sometimes I have flexibility. Other times
- 43:57Speaker 2: I'm booked on the job. It's non negotiable. I don't
- 43:59Speaker 2: have a choice, and so I'm often torn. Right, I'm
- 44:02Speaker 2: often torn, and I have that work life mommy guilt. Okay,
- 44:05Speaker 2: I've learned how to not be guilty, but it sucks
- 44:08Speaker 2: when you have to miss something aportment important. So what
- 44:11Speaker 2: I do to navigate it now that I didn't do
- 44:13Speaker 2: in my thirties and forties because I didn't know how
- 44:15Speaker 2: I was doing the best I can and beating myself
- 44:17Speaker 2: up for what I couldn't do. Now I just say,
- 44:21Speaker 2: I'm doing the best I can, and everything in your
- 44:23Speaker 2: life is really important to me, and I'm going to
- 44:25Speaker 2: schedule every single track me in, every single game and
- 44:29Speaker 2: every single event that I could be at. But I
- 44:32Speaker 2: have to do these things so that we have this life.
- 44:34Speaker 2: So you get to do that because I'm doing this
- 44:36Speaker 2: and it really hurts me and I really want to
- 44:38Speaker 2: be there, but I need you to give me some grace.
- 44:41Speaker 3: And I really want to be there.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I really really want to be there, and I can't
- 44:45Speaker 2: be there at that It's like it's really really hard.
- 44:47Speaker 2: When I was in Costa Rica, my son had his
- 44:49Speaker 2: first track meet and I scheduled my retreat a year ago,
- 44:53Speaker 2: and trust me, I was like bleeding inside. My arm
- 44:56Speaker 2: was breaking because it's so important to him and he's
- 44:58Speaker 2: worked so hard and he's like, Mom, how can you
- 45:00Speaker 2: miss my first track meet? You know, you want to
- 45:03Speaker 2: like cry, and then you feel like you're failing and
- 45:06Speaker 2: you feel like what the hell? And I said, well,
- 45:08Speaker 2: because I booked this retreat a year ago before you
- 45:11Speaker 2: were running track, because last year you were playing football.
- 45:13Speaker 2: So it wasn't And this is how the grown up
- 45:15Speaker 2: me talks. It wasn't my intention, and I really want
- 45:17Speaker 2: to be there, and I'm going to schedule all your
- 45:19Speaker 2: track meets and try.
- 45:20Speaker 3: To work around it. And I'm really sorry.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And I was so upset inside and he got it,
- 45:26Speaker 2: and I'm like, and I need you to support me
- 45:28Speaker 2: in this, just like I want to support you.
- 45:29Speaker 3: And it's hard, but it's that dialogue. But vocalizing you
- 45:33Speaker 3: are powerful.
- 45:34Speaker 4: I put for them and freeing for you as a
- 45:37Speaker 4: woman with everything, with life, with love, with work.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Think of how much we hold inside as women, and
- 45:43Speaker 2: then we build resentment we don't communicate. So bringing it
- 45:47Speaker 2: back to menopause, to our body, to that detective to awareness.
- 45:51Speaker 2: What if we're not dialoguing with our own body, what
- 45:54Speaker 2: if we're not having that relationship. What if we don't
- 45:56Speaker 2: have boundaries for our own Boddy like sleep, you ask
- 45:59Speaker 2: me what's non negotiable? First thing that came up? What
- 46:01Speaker 2: if I'm so tired and I'm grinding. There's gonna be
- 46:04Speaker 2: times seasons where we're grinding. Too many opportunities to turn down,
- 46:08Speaker 2: too much travel, So you got to fuel your body, eat.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Better, try to. But we're human.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I would say, when possible, I try to drop into
- 46:18Speaker 2: I need to sleep. When I'm sleepy, that means get
- 46:21Speaker 2: off the phone, you're not scrolling, limit the screen time,
- 46:24Speaker 2: create a rest nest, black it out, light that candle,
- 46:28Speaker 2: get your sense memory, t get into an aps and
- 46:31Speaker 2: salt bath. I have to put a do not disturb
- 46:33Speaker 2: on my door sometimes for my children. I'm like, I
- 46:36Speaker 2: need ten minutes, guys, But in ten minutes I can
- 46:38Speaker 2: get everything done.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Then I need to ten minutes. I'll take it.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Yeah, don't even think about knocking on this door. That's
- 46:44Speaker 2: my boundary unless you're bleeding or there's an emergency.
- 46:48Speaker 1: If you're not dying.
- 46:49Speaker 2: If you see they do not disturb, you do not
- 46:51Speaker 2: come in. And that goes for other things too.
- 46:53Speaker 1: But I want to know what the rest nest is.
- 46:58Speaker 1: You put your phone to bed.
- 47:01Speaker 2: I have so much work to do at all times,
- 47:05Speaker 2: and because I run a digital business, it would never end.
- 47:08Speaker 2: So I shut down at night, so I put my
- 47:10Speaker 2: phone on do not disturb. My children crucify me all
- 47:13Speaker 2: the time because sometimes I forget and the phone is
- 47:15Speaker 2: on do not disturb. And again I'm like, I'm doing
- 47:17Speaker 2: the best, I can stop calling so much.
- 47:18Speaker 3: And I'm just kidding.
- 47:19Speaker 2: They override my do not disturb now because we fight
- 47:22Speaker 2: about that. But I do shut my phone down at
- 47:25Speaker 2: night so that I can stop working at night by choice.
- 47:29Speaker 2: If I have to do something or I have a deadline,
- 47:32Speaker 2: I work that out with myself, but I make myself
- 47:35Speaker 2: shut down so that I can rest and recover and
- 47:38Speaker 2: then I can accomplish more during the day.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Okay, so have to do it.
- 47:42Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about your digital business
- 47:44Speaker 1: because you have a fitness app, and is that the
- 47:48Speaker 1: digital business you're talking about or yeah, maybe there's multiple ones.
- 47:53Speaker 5: That I've met.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Okay, so what made you well, First of all, let's
- 47:58Speaker 1: talk about your fitness and what made you want to
- 48:01Speaker 1: do that. I mean, it seems natural for me.
- 48:04Speaker 2: It's such a it's such a big business right now
- 48:06Speaker 2: in oversaturated market, and I feel like there's an app
- 48:09Speaker 2: for everything, right but.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I think it's been eight years now. I can't believe it.
- 48:15Speaker 2: At a time when I was traveling, I was in
- 48:16Speaker 2: Europe and I love to work out, and people don't
- 48:19Speaker 2: really go to the gym as much as they do here.
- 48:21Speaker 2: They're very much nature mobile. It's just different made nature mobility.
- 48:25Speaker 2: You get what you can, or you go outside and
- 48:26Speaker 2: do something, do something probably better than going to a
- 48:30Speaker 2: gym circuit. So I found myself at a villa. I
- 48:34Speaker 2: was with my children. I took a cushion off of
- 48:37Speaker 2: the pool chair. I'm like, I'm gonna get my workout
- 48:39Speaker 2: and I'm going to use this. I'm gonna use a chair,
- 48:41Speaker 2: I'm going to use steps. We were on a boat
- 48:42Speaker 2: for a little while. I'm gonna work out of the
- 48:43Speaker 2: bow of the boat. Call me crazy, I'm going to
- 48:45Speaker 2: do what I need to do. And so I was
- 48:47Speaker 2: creating some content on social media and I'm like, I'm
- 48:49Speaker 2: just going to share this, and I got a great response,
- 48:52Speaker 2: and I was like, Wow, what if I can teach
- 48:53Speaker 2: people how to work out anywhere, anytime, busy people like me,
- 48:57Speaker 2: and show them how to how to get it done
- 48:59Speaker 2: without all the uses in a short amount of time,
- 49:02Speaker 2: to do it efficiently, compound moves the kind that we
- 49:06Speaker 2: all do now, which is a new thing, and change
- 49:08Speaker 2: their body and care for their body and just carve
- 49:10Speaker 2: out a moment of time that's going to create energy.
- 49:12Speaker 3: That's how it started.
- 49:14Speaker 2: And then I came home and I was actually going
- 49:16Speaker 2: through my divorce. That was my gentle therapy. All I
- 49:19Speaker 2: did was create content, and I had so much energy
- 49:23Speaker 2: and my adrenaline was off the charts. But I just
- 49:26Speaker 2: created and created and created content and built a library
- 49:29Speaker 2: and then finally launched the app. And I love it
- 49:32Speaker 2: because I connect with women. I connect with women. We
- 49:35Speaker 2: do a weekly meeting. It holds me accountable. It's really
- 49:39Speaker 2: like our little tool guide for each other. I love
- 49:42Speaker 2: to teach, I love to connect. It really gives me
- 49:46Speaker 2: great purpose in the space that I'm in in fitness
- 49:48Speaker 2: because people are changing, and people have a safe space
- 49:52Speaker 2: and they can do it at home. They can get
- 49:54Speaker 2: their mojo back, they can build their confidence, they can
- 49:57Speaker 2: start small, they can do something, they can dow impact.
- 50:01Speaker 2: They can use weights or no weights. They can create
- 50:03Speaker 2: a space at home that really just speaks to them
- 50:05Speaker 2: and care for themselves instead of getting into a car
- 50:08Speaker 2: and driving and spending a fortune. I do. You know,
- 50:11Speaker 2: not everybody can afford the type of work that we
- 50:14Speaker 2: do one on one, But I think there's so much
- 50:17Speaker 2: content out there on YouTube, there's so much free content,
- 50:19Speaker 2: there's so many apps out there.
- 50:20Speaker 3: You just got to find something that you really respond to, and.
- 50:23Speaker 2: The live streaming possibility is super fun because you can
- 50:26Speaker 2: be with me in my live stream studio, in my
- 50:29Speaker 2: basement or in my kitchen working out like we're two
- 50:32Speaker 2: girlfriends in a studio.
- 50:33Speaker 3: It's really weird.
- 50:34Speaker 2: It was weird at first, but the live streaming is
- 50:36Speaker 2: a great way to connect with people.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Okay, I've got to start well. First of all, the
- 50:41Speaker 1: live streaming so is that all of your programs? Are
- 50:44Speaker 1: they all you? Are they following you through the whole program?
- 50:48Speaker 2: They're following me through the whole program. I do a
- 50:50Speaker 2: live stream every week where I do a live class
- 50:53Speaker 2: the way I teach classes because I love to. But
- 50:55Speaker 2: I'll light it up for a live stream so you
- 50:56Speaker 2: could join in real time and you can also replay
- 50:59Speaker 2: it if your life schedule doesn't allow. But I'll forgive
- 51:03Speaker 2: an example. I do a meeting every Monday at eight
- 51:05Speaker 2: thirty in the morning for free. I give my time
- 51:07Speaker 2: for free every single Monday for everyone that's a subscriber.
- 51:12Speaker 2: And it's actually a zoom meeting. So you've got hundreds
- 51:15Speaker 2: of women connecting on a zoom not talking because we
- 51:18Speaker 2: have to mute them. You know how crazy that would
- 51:20Speaker 2: be to get everybody chatting on a zoom I'm talking.
- 51:22Speaker 2: They're using the chat box or they'll unmute themselves. But
- 51:25Speaker 2: we talk about what's working, what's not, what we like,
- 51:27Speaker 2: what we want more of. They take ownership in the app.
- 51:30Speaker 2: What do you want me to choreograph this week? How's
- 51:32Speaker 2: it going, what are you struggling with? How do you feel?
- 51:35Speaker 2: And it's this amazing sharing from women and every single
- 51:39Speaker 2: woman is helping another woman who's going through the same thing.
- 51:42Speaker 2: So I love that power of community for me, that
- 51:44Speaker 2: makes me want to do more of this type of work.
- 51:46Speaker 3: It's really powerful, really powerful.
- 51:49Speaker 1: So what does your if we were to look at
- 51:51Speaker 1: a week of your fitness. We know you do yoga,
- 51:55Speaker 1: we know you have your app, but what do you do?
- 51:58Speaker 1: Do you do like X amount of strength they x
- 52:00Speaker 1: amount of cardio? What does your week look like?
- 52:03Speaker 2: My cardios really changed over the last few years. It's
- 52:05Speaker 2: interesting because I have more of a rhythm and a flow.
- 52:08Speaker 2: I mean, I sweat and I do a lot of
- 52:09Speaker 2: deep core heat work like that hourglass figure, corset core,
- 52:14Speaker 2: like deep pelvic like strength training, core work. So I'm
- 52:17Speaker 2: doing this corset core series that I really believe in
- 52:19Speaker 2: that I started in menopause when belly fat started showing
- 52:23Speaker 2: up for no reason. And I'm super fit, So I
- 52:25Speaker 2: say that delicately because I'll get CRUs stuff. I'm like, oh,
- 52:28Speaker 2: I bellie fat.
- 52:29Speaker 1: But we all do the visceral past.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Sorry, fact everybody.
- 52:32Speaker 2: So I don't care how much you weigh or what
- 52:34Speaker 2: you're going through one day. Yeah damn it. You eat
- 52:37Speaker 2: the same, you train the same, your body starts changing,
- 52:40Speaker 2: So I'm like, what the F. So I'm going to
- 52:42Speaker 2: get down to business and face this and start training
- 52:46Speaker 2: differently and changing differently with my body. So my cardio now,
- 52:49Speaker 2: I'll do some cardio blasts that could really just be
- 52:51Speaker 2: a couple of minutes, but it's more of the flow
- 52:54Speaker 2: and the rhythm. I'll strength train once a week only
- 52:56Speaker 2: because I need to maintain my muscle mass. And I'm
- 52:59Speaker 2: not afraid to wait, like every woman's afraid to waight
- 53:01Speaker 2: train because I think they're going to be muscular. And
- 53:03Speaker 2: there's all these weird myths. And I promise you, if
- 53:07Speaker 2: we would have been taught to weight train before we
- 53:09Speaker 2: got into menopause, it would have been a whole lot easier, lean, muscle,
- 53:13Speaker 2: bone health, the whole nine yards I don't have to
- 53:15Speaker 2: tell you, but.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Big up daughters are going to be badasses.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I'm like they got you. We got the message to
- 53:23Speaker 1: eat very little and through cardioc which is crazy.
- 53:26Speaker 2: So I eat more now than I've ever me too
- 53:28Speaker 2: ate in my life. I eat twice amount of protein
- 53:31Speaker 2: than I've ever had in my life. I'm smaller, leaner, stronger,
- 53:35Speaker 2: and I lift weights now, which I never would have
- 53:38Speaker 2: done before.
- 53:40Speaker 3: So I'll do yoga.
- 53:41Speaker 2: I'll try to do a yoga class a week if
- 53:43Speaker 2: I can, because I love to be a student, because
- 53:45Speaker 2: it makes me a better teacher. I don't always get
- 53:47Speaker 2: that privilege. I'll heat up my room, I'll put on
- 53:49Speaker 2: some red light therapy in there. I'll bite girlfriends over.
- 53:52Speaker 2: I'll live stream it. Hopefully you're going to come. We laugh,
- 53:56Speaker 2: we sweat, we kick our ass. We worked the burn
- 53:59Speaker 2: we were, We work past the burn. It's like forty
- 54:02Speaker 2: five minutes of therapy for me of everything I need,
- 54:05Speaker 2: and then I feel one hundred times better than when
- 54:09Speaker 2: I started. The other side of that burn, the other
- 54:11Speaker 2: side of that push, the other side of that excuse,
- 54:14Speaker 2: the other side of that.
- 54:15Speaker 3: I don't have time.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Such bs, you don't have time not to work out.
- 54:19Speaker 2: I tell them everybody that you do not have time
- 54:21Speaker 2: not to work not work out.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Nope.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I do it for my spine. I do it for
- 54:24Speaker 2: my bones, I do it for my brain, do it
- 54:25Speaker 2: for my butt. I really do it for my overall
- 54:28Speaker 2: well being. More than the body. Yeah, more than the body.
- 54:31Speaker 2: I could teach people how to get into bikini shape,
- 54:33Speaker 2: Like have I really done my job? But what if
- 54:36Speaker 2: I show you how to change your mindset? What if
- 54:38Speaker 2: I show you how to feel better? The world of fitness.
- 54:40Speaker 2: It's like such a big conversation. But really, my workout,
- 54:43Speaker 2: so my whole fitness routine is so much more than
- 54:46Speaker 2: just the body.
- 54:47Speaker 3: It's my mindset.
- 54:48Speaker 2: It creates energy, dopemine, adrenaline, oxytocin.
- 54:52Speaker 3: It makes me feel good. It's really my therapy.
- 54:56Speaker 2: And like forty five minutes, I can get everything done,
- 54:59Speaker 2: you know, and build a little booty and say all
- 55:01Speaker 2: the body. But it's mindset for me, like I gotta
- 55:04Speaker 2: do it. I don't have time not to do it.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I do not have time to not work out.
- 55:09Speaker 3: I agree.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Speaking of body, how has sex evolved for you over
- 55:15Speaker 4: the years and is it better now in your fifties?
- 55:18Speaker 3: Oh?
- 55:18Speaker 2: God, sex is so much better in the fifties.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Yes, this is good news. Yes, how has evolved? How
- 55:26Speaker 3: is sexy?
- 55:27Speaker 2: I mean, God, I'm trying to think of what would
- 55:29Speaker 2: be better having sex with the twenty year old me
- 55:31Speaker 2: or the fifty year old It has gotten so much better, deeper,
- 55:37Speaker 2: more connected, more emotional, more spiritual, Like all all of
- 55:41Speaker 2: me shows up now. Honestly, that's really what it is.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I'm bringing all of me to that experience. I mean
- 55:47Speaker 2: Lucky Scott because he's getting a much better version of me. Sorry,
- 55:51Speaker 2: David Garth's not even in this equation. But I'm joking.
- 55:56Speaker 3: I don't know how getting in trouble.
- 55:59Speaker 2: But I'm not joking. Yeah, because we learn about our body,
- 56:03Speaker 2: you know, And I think as soon as we can
- 56:05Speaker 2: put a dialogue to that and how you show up
- 56:08Speaker 2: in that space, it's just complete and I how to
- 56:13Speaker 2: ask for what I want and how to get what
- 56:15Speaker 2: I need, a more complete experience. I mean to be continued,
- 56:19Speaker 2: because I'm just going to scratch the surface.
- 56:21Speaker 3: I'm just gonna say, I can't believe we have to end.
- 56:24Speaker 3: I have so many follow up questions.
- 56:26Speaker 2: Okay, please, I would love that because we could talk
- 56:29Speaker 2: for hours obviously, this is what happens when three women
- 56:32Speaker 2: get together with an open mind and heart.
- 56:34Speaker 3: I love this conversation. Encore, please y yes, thank you
- 56:39Speaker 3: so much.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 56:40Speaker 1: We look forward to the We look forward to the
