- 0:00Speaker 1: Does your wife keep track of what you ate? Oh? No, no, no, no, no,
- 0:04Speaker 1: she doesn't keep track of what I That's what I mean. Like,
- 0:06Speaker 1: how do I mean like keep track of what you
- 0:07Speaker 1: ate in terms of like, hey you're eating too much?
- 0:09Speaker 1: I mean like the good shit in our house. She's
- 0:12Speaker 1: watching like, hey, you had the last Eminem packet that's mine. Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We do fight over Eminem's, the peanut kind. We fight
- 0:20Speaker 1: over candy a lot. My wife and I yo yo, uh.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We should talk about this because a lot of people
- 0:25Speaker 1: don't know. But it was Sinco de Mayo yesterday. Yes,
- 0:29Speaker 1: you were fasting, so you didn't participate in Sinco de Mayo.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What did you do? What did you do? So? Casa
- 0:35Speaker 1: Vega is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks area right and you know, nobody can go
- 0:43Speaker 1: to restaurants right now. But they had a little drive
- 0:45Speaker 1: through going on where you can get you know, tacos
- 0:48Speaker 1: and and and beans and rice and and you know
- 0:52Speaker 1: whatever was on the menu, and margaritas and margharita's. How
- 0:57Speaker 1: do they how do they give you the margharita? They
- 0:59Speaker 1: brought it in, they put it in a half gallon.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Picture that does not even a picture. It's like a
- 1:04Speaker 1: half gallon, you know, like we put milk in it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You know, you get milk and it's a half gallon,
- 1:08Speaker 1: bob jar whatever it is. Yeah, they put it in that. Wow,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and we got three of them. Oh my god, did
- 1:15Speaker 1: you get hammer? We only have one left. You guys
- 1:21Speaker 1: had a party over there. We drank a gallon of
- 1:23Speaker 1: margarita yesterday. Oh my godlish I'm so jealous. I literally
- 1:28Speaker 1: this this this fast thing we're on. It's like all
- 1:31Speaker 1: you eat is this thin soup. It looks like it
- 1:35Speaker 1: looks like gruel, remember that thing that Oliver wanted more of.
- 1:38Speaker 1: That's what it looks like. Yeah, it looks like or
- 1:41Speaker 1: like what they what they'd slop on a pirate ship,
- 1:44Speaker 1: what they'd serve you for dinner. That's what it looks like. Right,
- 1:46Speaker 1: does have like a little bit of celery and like
- 1:48Speaker 1: a little bit of carrot. It looks like cartoonishly watered
- 1:51Speaker 1: down soup. That's what we're allowed to eat. But it's
- 1:54Speaker 1: it's white colored. No, it's the color of whatever flavor
- 1:57Speaker 1: they think it is. It's like tomato is like tomato colored,
- 2:00Speaker 1: but it's just got little specs of crap in it. Wow,
- 2:03Speaker 1: But just you wait, Donald, We're gonna you're gonna check
- 2:05Speaker 1: in when we record on Friday, and you're gonna you're
- 2:08Speaker 1: gonna say, wow, you look even thinner. I want to
- 2:10Speaker 1: I want to fast, but I shall we sing? Shall
- 2:12Speaker 1: we sing? Yeah? Sure? Why not? I'd like to count
- 2:15Speaker 1: in today because I realized I haven't counted it in
- 2:17Speaker 1: a long time. I've been giving it to you. I've
- 2:19Speaker 1: been giving it to Bill Lawrence, our guests, and giving
- 2:21Speaker 1: it to Judy as a present, and and I just
- 2:24Speaker 1: feel feeling left out. Well, Zach, I want you to
- 2:27Speaker 1: give it to me. Go ahead, okay, Dan, hit it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I like a little you know what. You didn't wait
- 2:30Speaker 1: before you hit it? Dan? You know, I always thought
- 2:32Speaker 1: it was so cool when DJ's on the radio do
- 2:35Speaker 1: the thing they called talk up, like they know exactly
- 2:38Speaker 1: when the words come in, and they'd stop talking right
- 2:42Speaker 1: at I believe DJs call it talking up a song
- 2:45Speaker 1: right right, so they they I'm sure they haven't labeled somewhere,
- 2:48Speaker 1: like the lyrics start at five seconds in or something.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And I always thought it was so smooth. So I'd
- 2:52Speaker 1: like to talk up this song. Go ahead, do it. Okay,
- 2:56Speaker 1: here we go. So I'm not gonna count in, Dan,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm just gonna talk it up. Okay, I'm nervous now,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm nervous. Now Here we go. Welcome everybody to fake doctors,
- 3:08Speaker 1: real friends. We're so glad you're joining us. And here's
- 3:10Speaker 1: a song written by Junie blues Domphase on a Brown
- 3:14Speaker 1: coming at you. Here's some stories about show we made
- 3:19Speaker 1: about a bunch of does and said, he's stories. So
- 3:29Speaker 1: get around here? Are yato around you here? Hey? Lots
- 3:39Speaker 1: of talk on the social media about you know what
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean? And uh? And you is it? Is it
- 3:44Speaker 1: that bad? No, it's It's just people just need to
- 3:48Speaker 1: accept it. It's part of your way of speaking. It
- 3:51Speaker 1: is part of mine. I'm just concerned though about those
- 3:53Speaker 1: who are doing it as a drinking game, that that
- 3:55Speaker 1: that we're gonna turn people into alcoholics. I'm up the
- 3:58Speaker 1: I think we should keep the things, but if you
- 3:59Speaker 1: don't don't want to keep the things, we could we
- 4:01Speaker 1: could remove the things. And also I heard, by the way, Dan,
- 4:04Speaker 1: that you missed some I saw on Twitter some people
- 4:06Speaker 1: were like that dings were hilarious, but you guys missed
- 4:09Speaker 1: like four You know what it means, Dan, what was
- 4:12Speaker 1: the total I mean, of the ones you caught, what
- 4:15Speaker 1: was the total nine? That's not a lot for an hour, dude.
- 4:18Speaker 1: By the way, that's when you were trying not to
- 4:21Speaker 1: say it, dude, But but I was also it was
- 4:25Speaker 1: me not it was me using it as slang, though
- 4:28Speaker 1: at that point it wasn't me just saying you know
- 4:31Speaker 1: what I mean. After everything I said, somebody brought to
- 4:34Speaker 1: my attention that you say, you know a lot. I'm
- 4:36Speaker 1: just gonna put it out there. Really, we're trying to
- 4:38Speaker 1: shift the ship on to me. Listen, listen, I do
- 4:43Speaker 1: I listen. We all have. We all if you record
- 4:45Speaker 1: someone for multiple hours, you're gonna hear some of the
- 4:50Speaker 1: things that they say when they speak. I'm sure we
- 4:52Speaker 1: all have our own ticks. Yeah, I'm sure you listening
- 4:54Speaker 1: right now judging us, you probably have some vocal go tos.
- 5:03Speaker 1: The ones that the ones that kind of get on
- 5:05Speaker 1: my nerves are like when people say I mean all
- 5:07Speaker 1: the time before they say anything I mean, it's like no,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I get it, or like I mean, I hear you
- 5:13Speaker 1: say like a lot. We all say like a lot,
- 5:15Speaker 1: I know. But the young folks really use like a lot. Yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: that that's the one that gets me. I mean, I mean,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I mean, I'm literally the wrong use of literally is
- 5:26Speaker 1: also a bit of a pet peeve. Really that's abused.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You literally don't like that. I literally literally get annoyed
- 5:35Speaker 1: when people overuse literally. Should we get into the episode, Donald,
- 5:39Speaker 1: let's do it. I love it everyone. I'm right in
- 5:44Speaker 1: and say, holy shit, you are so good in this episode.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I forgot how church centric it was. It is a
- 5:53Speaker 1: Turk episode, and it issode. It's a very Turk episode Donald,
- 5:57Speaker 1: right moments. I'm not just saying this because I love
- 6:00Speaker 1: you so much, but I do, But holy shit, you
- 6:04Speaker 1: are so good in this episode. And I multiple things.
- 6:07Speaker 1: There's the there's we could spend a whole episode of
- 6:09Speaker 1: this podcast on that gospel fantasy. We're going to spend
- 6:13Speaker 1: plenty of time on it, don't get me wrong. But
- 6:15Speaker 1: also you're dramatic acting at the end when you're all upset,
- 6:19Speaker 1: the scene with you and Judy on the roof, you
- 6:21Speaker 1: running to the park, I just thought you did really
- 6:24Speaker 1: really good working. Oh you're a sweetheart, you know. Thank
- 6:27Speaker 1: you first of all. Second of all, this was one
- 6:29Speaker 1: of my this isn't necessarily one of my favorite episodes.
- 6:32Speaker 1: But there's so many really cool things that happened in
- 6:35Speaker 1: this episode that I got to be a part of.
- 6:37Speaker 1: One was obviously the gospel choiet thing. That was a
- 6:39Speaker 1: lot of fun. One of my favorite movies of all
- 6:42Speaker 1: time is Coming to America too, and also Which Way
- 6:45Speaker 1: Is Up? And in Which Way Is Up? Richard Pryor
- 6:47Speaker 1: plays a reverend in a church and in Coming to America.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Arsineo Hall's portrayal of the reverend is amazing as well.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And so if any if I was doing anything in
- 7:00Speaker 1: that scene, I was stealing from the two of them, wow,
- 7:03Speaker 1: because I just get right, let's get right to it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: You are so fucking funny in that, and I well,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I watched it like multiple times just because that scene.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I think it's one of the I honestly, I know
- 7:13Speaker 1: we're just started this, but I think it's one of
- 7:14Speaker 1: the best fantasies in Scrub's history, solely because of your performance.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And I know that you're doing an homage to your
- 7:20Speaker 1: favorite one of our favorite movies, Coming to America, but
- 7:23Speaker 1: you really made it your own. I mean, I just
- 7:28Speaker 1: was dying laughing the Jerry Curl, the swinging of the arms,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the padding of the forehead. We gonna, we gonna what
- 7:38Speaker 1: do you want to cut them open, and then we
- 7:40Speaker 1: gonna stow them right back together. I remember that day
- 7:44Speaker 1: genuinely cracking up, and you were just going for it. Man,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you were you were literally sweating your ass on. That's
- 7:49Speaker 1: hot and you were just being But I wasn't sweating
- 7:53Speaker 1: my ass off. So you kind of used literally in
- 7:56Speaker 1: the way that you hate it. Okay, you're because I've
- 8:00Speaker 1: literally sweating, but my ass didn't fall off. All right, Okay,
- 8:03Speaker 1: there is there is it is. It is literally not
- 8:08Speaker 1: possible in literal sense for someone's ass to be sweat off.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I believe. I believe that's true. Joel, Please look that up.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I had a lot of fun doing that scene, man.
- 8:18Speaker 1: One of the one of the great things was looking
- 8:20Speaker 1: out into the audience also and seeing, you know, how
- 8:23Speaker 1: background really enjoyed themselves, and then also seeing familiar faces
- 8:27Speaker 1: in the background. Colonel Doctor for the first time is
- 8:30Speaker 1: in this episode. Wait, before you're you're jumping around, let's
- 8:33Speaker 1: just stay focused on you. We can't go to Colonel
- 8:34Speaker 1: Doctor is in the background. I know, but yes, okay, sorry,
- 8:38Speaker 1: but I didn't want to go to courl doctor yet
- 8:39Speaker 1: because it is his first appearance in a Scrubs episode,
- 8:42Speaker 1: he shows up in the background of Sarah's scene first.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Also Neil Flynn in the background of this episode clapping, Yes,
- 8:50Speaker 1: that was funny. What about me when I get the
- 8:52Speaker 1: spirit and then you catch in the Holy Ghost? Dude,
- 8:56Speaker 1: that freaked me out. The first time I ever saw that,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna be in real life, My first time ever
- 9:02Speaker 1: seen I saw listen. I went to church with my babysitter.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It was like a midnight mass type thing, and we
- 9:10Speaker 1: went to church and we saw, first of all, people
- 9:13Speaker 1: around us are catching the spirit, right, catching the Holy Ghost,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and they're losing it. And I was like, all right,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm safe. I'm here with my babysitter. I know she's
- 9:22Speaker 1: not gonna catch the Holy Spirit. Last cut too, she
- 9:25Speaker 1: catches the bad Boy and I was like, yeah, so
- 9:30Speaker 1: how did she start acting like she just out of
- 9:33Speaker 1: out of nowhere? She just started dancing right like you did,
- 9:36Speaker 1: like your character does, like like JD does. She started
- 9:39Speaker 1: dancing and then she started praising God, which is what
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know as a youth when you don't see stuff
- 9:45Speaker 1: like that, Like my grandmother was Piscopalian, so we had
- 9:47Speaker 1: to go to Piscopalian church and stuff like that, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: it wasn't like that, you know what I mean. Even
- 9:52Speaker 1: though it was all black, it wasn't a Baptist church,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And when you go to
- 9:55Speaker 1: a when you go to a Baptist church, you know
- 9:58Speaker 1: they put it in. That's something that's I'd love to
- 10:01Speaker 1: do that. By the way, Oh, it's amazing that everything.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I would love to have the experience of going to
- 10:07Speaker 1: a church like the one we're representing in this show.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I just think it would be amazing. I've never seen
- 10:11Speaker 1: that in real life, obviously, I've seen it on TV
- 10:14Speaker 1: and on video of people speaking in tongues and and
- 10:17Speaker 1: and no judgments. I'm not I'm whatever works for you.
- 10:20Speaker 1: That's amazing. I like you said, as a child, I
- 10:22Speaker 1: was always like, oh my God, what is what is happening? Right?
- 10:25Speaker 1: And it was so shocking to see someone reacting like that,
- 10:28Speaker 1: to get touched by the spirit of God. I like
- 10:31Speaker 1: the idea that JD you know, got the spirit when
- 10:34Speaker 1: you were such a good minister, that it just came
- 10:36Speaker 1: to him, right, the music got into him and and
- 10:39Speaker 1: and scripted or I just improved that. I don't recall,
- 10:42Speaker 1: do you remember, I don't know if it was scripted.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think I think you might have improved it to
- 10:46Speaker 1: be I think I just thought I said to Bill, like,
- 10:48Speaker 1: oh my god, I should get the spirit. I think
- 10:49Speaker 1: that's funny. Yeah, amazing, amazing, man, A great scene. The
- 10:55Speaker 1: choir was. The choir was amazing. Although they although we
- 10:57Speaker 1: do we do have two of them that that spy
- 11:00Speaker 1: the lens and wave at the camera around eight sixteen.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I don't know if you caught that they got They
- 11:04Speaker 1: may have caught the spirit too and decided to wave
- 11:06Speaker 1: to the lens. But uh, but they were. They were amazing.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And by the way, why mistaken or did you? Or
- 11:13Speaker 1: did you when you were just riffing. One of the
- 11:14Speaker 1: things that was you were so great when when they
- 11:17Speaker 1: would when you would be in your element and they
- 11:19Speaker 1: would just tell you to go. Whether that could be
- 11:21Speaker 1: the dance, the famous dance you did that that everyone
- 11:23Speaker 1: always talks about, or or so many things, but in
- 11:26Speaker 1: this moment when you were just riffing and being that preacher,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean, you just got lost in it and it
- 11:30Speaker 1: was so amazing to watch you do that. But I
- 11:32Speaker 1: remember that when you can what's the name of the song?
- 11:35Speaker 1: We sing in yer, remember the song? And they kept
- 11:39Speaker 1: it in and that was so funny. It was supposed
- 11:43Speaker 1: to be something like quah, let us let us you know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: uh let us uh bless the congregation with the song
- 11:52Speaker 1: you know, Christ the Lord, right, right, And I remember
- 11:55Speaker 1: getting down back quile what's the name of a song
- 12:00Speaker 1: was singing? But you stayed in character. It was still funny.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You know. It was such a good lesson early on
- 12:06Speaker 1: in Scrubs that if if we stayed in character, a
- 12:09Speaker 1: lot of that stuff could if it was funny, would
- 12:10Speaker 1: stay in right. And and that was a perfect example
- 12:13Speaker 1: of of you doing that and Bill going in the
- 12:15Speaker 1: edit room like, oh, that's funny, that's staying yeah. Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: So so this whole episode, it was written by Debford
- 12:25Speaker 1: hum that's right, who also wrote the musical episode. Right,
- 12:28Speaker 1: was the one of the main writers on the musical episode,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and I think actually participated in running a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 1: lyrics for the famous musical episode. That's right. And Jeff
- 12:37Speaker 1: Melman was the director, and I just learned a little
- 12:40Speaker 1: trivia that he directed some of the sitcom You did
- 12:43Speaker 1: the xes, Yeah, I did, I did. I do not
- 12:48Speaker 1: put two and two together. I did not remember that.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Do you remember? Do you remember it? I do know
- 12:53Speaker 1: Jeff Melman has, but now that you have said that,
- 12:56Speaker 1: he only directed one episode of Scrubs and it was
- 12:58Speaker 1: twenty years ago, So you're okay for not remembering that,
- 13:00Speaker 1: But I don't know if you put two and two together.
- 13:01Speaker 1: They also directed your sitcom The X. I think we
- 13:03Speaker 1: even talked about him directing an episode of Scrubs when
- 13:06Speaker 1: he directed the episode of The Exes. Anyway, and Kristin Johnston,
- 13:11Speaker 1: who you did The Exes with, I bought her house.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That's where I live. Yeah. Not only that, but you
- 13:17Speaker 1: guys also did Twelfth Night together. We did Twelfth Night
- 13:21Speaker 1: together in Central Park at the Dela Court and you
- 13:25Speaker 1: and that's when she said, Hey, I want to move
- 13:27Speaker 1: out of la I'm over it. Do you have any interest?
- 13:29Speaker 1: And I was just at the time when I was
- 13:31Speaker 1: starting to think about buying my first house. And what's
- 13:35Speaker 1: funny is that she was quite an entertainer. She threw
- 13:38Speaker 1: a lot of bashes at the house, and so over
- 13:41Speaker 1: the years when I've told people that I bought the
- 13:43Speaker 1: house from her, they're always like, ooh, I've been so
- 13:46Speaker 1: fucked up in your house. Wow. Wow. Well she's now
- 13:50Speaker 1: sober and she's written a wonderful book called Guts on
- 13:53Speaker 1: the market right now. And if you guys are listening
- 13:56Speaker 1: and want a good read in the voice of christ
- 14:01Speaker 1: and Johnson. She also does the audio book, check it out.
- 14:04Speaker 1: It's very, very, very revealing, and she's very open about
- 14:08Speaker 1: her addiction. And yeah, get and when you're I've read
- 14:11Speaker 1: the book and it's amazing and you should get it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And when you're hearing about some of her partying, just
- 14:15Speaker 1: know it was happening in mind. Yo. Somebody got mad, dude,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you oh man, somebody got mad that I ruined that
- 14:23Speaker 1: joke or that not the joke, the bit of trivia.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I know on one of the last episodes, I said
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna I was gonna do a trivia for Donald
- 14:31Speaker 1: involving the Breakfast Club, and he ruined it and some
- 14:34Speaker 1: guy and some guy wrote on Twitter I was legit
- 14:37Speaker 1: excited for a bit of trivia and Donald did indeed
- 14:40Speaker 1: ruin it. We gotta filter in some more trivia to
- 14:45Speaker 1: this show. Absolutely so okay, dev Ford, him, Jeff Melman,
- 14:48Speaker 1: It's a great episode. I gotta say, you know, They're
- 14:50Speaker 1: not all this good. This was a darn good one.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And first thing I wrote down was Nurse Tisdale at
- 14:56Speaker 1: thirty five seconds in Yes, which is a oma to
- 15:01Speaker 1: film fast Times a Ridgemond High. Now, some of you
- 15:03Speaker 1: younger folk might not know that movie. You should watch
- 15:05Speaker 1: it because it's a seminole eighties film. And I remember
- 15:08Speaker 1: watching it at someone's house, far too young to be
- 15:12Speaker 1: watching it, Like I should not have been watching that
- 15:14Speaker 1: movie at the age I was, And I remember feeling like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: don't move because I don't want any adult to notice
- 15:21Speaker 1: that I'm here and I'm watching this and I probably
- 15:24Speaker 1: shouldn't be watching Phoebe Kates reveal her bosoms. Yeah, you
- 15:30Speaker 1: remember when you saw that movie. I do remember when
- 15:32Speaker 1: I saw that movie. And you know, the one thing
- 15:35Speaker 1: that stuck out from that movie for me was Sean
- 15:37Speaker 1: Pinn totally awesome and his Jeff Spoccoli. Yeah, a little
- 15:42Speaker 1: bit of trivia for you. Do you know who wrote
- 15:43Speaker 1: that movie? Yes, it was Amy Heckerling, No Cameron Crowe.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Amy Heckerling directed it, absolutely, okay. Amy Heckerling, who wrote
- 15:53Speaker 1: and directed Clueless, wrote and directed Clueless. Yes, so it's
- 15:56Speaker 1: six degrees of Donald Fazon is what your six degrees
- 15:59Speaker 1: of Donald Fazon. Forrest Whittakers also in that movie. He
- 16:02Speaker 1: directed Waiting to Exhale and I was in it, and
- 16:05Speaker 1: I remember going on the audition for Waiting to Exhale
- 16:07Speaker 1: at the same time I was shooting Clueless, the movie,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and I was, you know, Forrest and I had a
- 16:12Speaker 1: little conversation about his experience with Amy and the reason
- 16:16Speaker 1: why I got Waiting to Xer because I'm sure there
- 16:18Speaker 1: were a bunch of people who auditioned for it. But
- 16:20Speaker 1: Forrest told me, he was like, you know, I went
- 16:22Speaker 1: with you because you know you're working with Amy, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: Amy gave me my start, and it was something there
- 16:28Speaker 1: was a form of nostalgia and for me. So I
- 16:31Speaker 1: got to be in Waiting Exhale with Whitney, Houston, Angel Labassett, Lauretta,
- 16:35Speaker 1: Divine Lee, liber Sean, I got to oh Man, I
- 16:37Speaker 1: got to meet several actors, from Michael Beach to one
- 16:41Speaker 1: of my favorite all time performers, Gregory Hines. That's what
- 16:46Speaker 1: I've never seen the movie. I've got to be honest
- 16:48Speaker 1: with you, but you've never seen Waiting to Exhale. No,
- 16:50Speaker 1: but I'm gonna write it down because we're looking for
- 16:51Speaker 1: quarantine movies. And I do love your work. You should
- 16:54Speaker 1: watch way in exhale. It's a lot of fun. It's
- 16:56Speaker 1: if you have a good pardon it or should I
- 16:57Speaker 1: need to just fast forward to your scenes. No, you
- 17:00Speaker 1: should watch the movie. The movie is actually very entertaining.
- 17:03Speaker 1: It's it's it's and the soundtrack is amazing. By the way,
- 17:07Speaker 1: Holy cow, baby face, you put your foot in it
- 17:10Speaker 1: when you made that one. I don't know what that means.
- 17:13Speaker 1: It just means he puts them, he puts them. He did.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He put a little strowsy on it. You know, he's
- 17:19Speaker 1: still doing this thing. Oh, I just haven't heard about
- 17:22Speaker 1: him his name in the public lexicon in a long time. Anyway,
- 17:26Speaker 1: we digress. Let's get back here, all right, we digress.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Nurse Tisdale. Um, she's coming down doing a homage to
- 17:32Speaker 1: Fast Times at ridge Mont High. By the way, if
- 17:34Speaker 1: you haven't seen Fast Times at Rige Mond High, you
- 17:35Speaker 1: should because it perfectly I think encapsulates a period of
- 17:39Speaker 1: time in the eighties. And uh, and it's a really
- 17:43Speaker 1: really I mean it was written by Cameron Crowe. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: mean it's a great movie. Um, fifty eight seconds Snoop
- 17:48Speaker 1: you know, showing up. Snoop's in a lot of this episode.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg. In turn, Snoop Dogg was in a lot
- 17:54Speaker 1: of this show. I know. It's funny. If you guys
- 17:56Speaker 1: start looking at the background, you'll not Snoop Dogg real
- 17:58Speaker 1: Snoop dog Snoop dog if you'll see if you guys look,
- 18:02Speaker 1: if you guys look at these episodes closely, you'll see
- 18:04Speaker 1: that basically they're just they're just moving around the same
- 18:06Speaker 1: twenty background folks. And there's times where it's like there'll
- 18:10Speaker 1: be one scene and Snoops in the background, and then
- 18:12Speaker 1: then we're upstairs and Stoops in the background. I'm like, guys,
- 18:15Speaker 1: come on, well he worked a lot and then yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: but now we're starting to introduce new characters, so you'll see, ye.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Doctor one fifty one a momentous moment. Colonel Doctor first
- 18:25Speaker 1: appearance in the background, as Bill told us on the
- 18:28Speaker 1: last episode, named because everyone thought he looked like um
- 18:33Speaker 1: Colonel Sanders the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials. And is he
- 18:37Speaker 1: still alive or did he pass I believe he passed away.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I believes where he was an older fellow when we're
- 18:42Speaker 1: doing this twenty years ago. By the way, someone clarified
- 18:45Speaker 1: for me on the social media interwebs that the Beard
- 18:49Speaker 1: Fusse film I was trying to remember was Girl with
- 18:54Speaker 1: the Dragon tattoo. I knew it was a Fincher, so
- 18:57Speaker 1: I was right about it being Fincher. It's Girl with
- 18:59Speaker 1: the Dragon. Had to um, Daniel Craig is on a
- 19:02Speaker 1: plane and the camera sort of just dollis past a
- 19:06Speaker 1: close up of Beard Fusse. So thank you for the
- 19:10Speaker 1: for the listener who helped me out with that. All right,
- 19:13Speaker 1: we're gonna go to break, We'll be right back, and
- 19:22Speaker 1: we're back. Hey listen. I occasionally Season one would go
- 19:28Speaker 1: out partying with you during the week. Yes, I was occasionally, Yes,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I was feeling myself. I had never had a dollar
- 19:35Speaker 1: in my pocket, let alone, um, some hit television show
- 19:41Speaker 1: and you and I. I can't I mean, it's forty
- 19:44Speaker 1: five years old. You can't imagine you would ever do this.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But in our twenties we would occasionally go out the
- 19:49Speaker 1: nights of filming. Occasionally, I remember we would say things like,
- 19:53Speaker 1: all right, look, just want to do one shot? How
- 19:57Speaker 1: about just one I'm sure everybody out there can relate
- 20:00Speaker 1: to your friend going, how about just one? Yeah, We're
- 20:03Speaker 1: gonna do one shot hard hard, six o'clock in the morning.
- 20:07Speaker 1: If we're gone by midnight, we could be home by
- 20:09Speaker 1: one and it will still have a good five hours asleep.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Right hard cut to like at six in the morning,
- 20:14Speaker 1: we're in Orlando Jones is swimming. Oh my god, it
- 20:17Speaker 1: wasn't even six. It was like four forty five, right,
- 20:20Speaker 1: And it was the night. You had to be at
- 20:23Speaker 1: work at six and I had to Did you have
- 20:25Speaker 1: to go in or just me? You didn't have to
- 20:26Speaker 1: go in, and I had to go in, but I
- 20:27Speaker 1: didn't have to be in until like, oh man, this
- 20:29Speaker 1: was this is This is if you looked at a
- 20:31Speaker 1: graph of me being irresponsible at work. This was the
- 20:34Speaker 1: high point because I think I was in Orlando Jones's
- 20:37Speaker 1: pool hammered at four forty five, and that day I
- 20:40Speaker 1: had to shoot this Fawnzie fantasy at three forty one
- 20:44Speaker 1: that starts at three forty one. So when you see
- 20:46Speaker 1: that Fawnsie thing, not only am I hung over, I'm
- 20:49Speaker 1: still buzzed, right right, I'm still buzzed from partying with
- 20:55Speaker 1: Orlando Jones dude to this day. That's still one of
- 20:58Speaker 1: the most epic nights. I mean, we've had some pretty
- 21:01Speaker 1: epic nights, but well, because he was so young and
- 21:03Speaker 1: fresh in the game, and I hadn't met that many stars,
- 21:06Speaker 1: and and I was just like, I can't believe are
- 21:08Speaker 1: we going to Orlando Jones's house yet. Yeah, he was
- 21:10Speaker 1: fresh off of doing uh he had he had already
- 21:13Speaker 1: said goodbye to the seven up commercials, and now he
- 21:16Speaker 1: had the movie that had just come out with him
- 21:18Speaker 1: and David Duchovny and Sean William Scott called Evolution or
- 21:23Speaker 1: something like that, and we were all hanging out. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: don't know, but I was in any star. I was excited.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I was as excited. I felt like, I'm living the
- 21:30Speaker 1: Hollywood dream. I'm not waiting tables anymore. I'm partying with
- 21:33Speaker 1: Orlando Jones and Donald phays On in a pod and
- 21:40Speaker 1: Deonte Gordon Donald's Donald stand in slash our friend and uh.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And then I went and did this fantasy. So I
- 21:47Speaker 1: was just watching it because I remember that being in pain,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and it's it's a very funny fantasy. So I'm i'm, i'm.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I was grateful this many years later, I didn't ruin
- 21:54Speaker 1: a moment for the fans, because that's a funny fantasy.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's hilarious. He's not gonna make it then you come
- 21:59Speaker 1: in jebox. But those of you who are too young
- 22:03Speaker 1: to remember, the Fawns who I'm spoofing here could pretty
- 22:07Speaker 1: much had magical powers. I mean it happened. It came
- 22:09Speaker 1: to jukeboxes and women. Yes, the maybe in the beginning
- 22:13Speaker 1: he was just jukeboxing. But then like as I recall
- 22:16Speaker 1: later in later episodes of Happy Days, he would literally
- 22:18Speaker 1: he could like work magic because snap and women out
- 22:21Speaker 1: of nowhere would show up. Yeah, Fawns. He had to
- 22:24Speaker 1: move out of Milwaukee because he had dated every woman
- 22:26Speaker 1: in Milwaukee. That was that was a subplot. He had
- 22:29Speaker 1: He had been on a date with every single woman
- 22:31Speaker 1: in Milwaukee and he could, so he had to go
- 22:33Speaker 1: out of city for that right on. Such a funny
- 22:36Speaker 1: scene though, such a funny scene. And that's how you
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know we all believe in miracles. Well that's how
- 22:42Speaker 1: that's what starts off your really cool arc about testing
- 22:44Speaker 1: your faith and and so was it dropped from you
- 22:48Speaker 1: You mentioned earlier that it was was your was churks
- 22:51Speaker 1: religiousness dropped from here on out? Like did it ever
- 22:54Speaker 1: come up? Did you stop wearing that cross? The cross?
- 22:58Speaker 1: You never see this cross ever before? But in this
- 23:00Speaker 1: sood because you're supposed be religious, the crosses in every
- 23:02Speaker 1: every shot. Well, we we shot it in another episode also,
- 23:05Speaker 1: but the cross is was it was after this you
- 23:08Speaker 1: don't see the cross anymore, Um, I believe, And we
- 23:11Speaker 1: don't talk about Turk's faith really anymore, which is bizarre
- 23:15Speaker 1: because at the end of the episode your faith is restored.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I mean, you literally have a sign from God. Did
- 23:20Speaker 1: you go save a pregnant woman in the park? Right? Like?
- 23:24Speaker 1: I just knew she was in the park? Yeah, how
- 23:26Speaker 1: did you just know? Did you even know? Does Turk
- 23:28Speaker 1: even know Sarah's storyline about her having a pregnant woman?
- 23:31Speaker 1: I think the I think the whole hospital knows about
- 23:34Speaker 1: it because she's escaped and everybody's on the lookout. Okay,
- 23:38Speaker 1: so you're on the roof, by the way, How funny
- 23:40Speaker 1: is it the judy trying to cheer you up, wants
- 23:42Speaker 1: to bang on the roof of the hospital. I know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I thought that was a funny plot line, Like here, baby,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'll cheer you up. Let's have sex on this gravelly
- 23:49Speaker 1: dirty rooftop. Yeah, I look back at that. I look
- 23:53Speaker 1: back at that and like, Turk, what were you thinking?
- 23:56Speaker 1: I love us, I love us, I love I'm wanting
- 23:59Speaker 1: it going be so gross And you're like, oh, what
- 24:01Speaker 1: was Turk thinking? I mean, like, I don't know. I
- 24:11Speaker 1: think having sex in like really awkward places is always
- 24:14Speaker 1: so like such a thing you only see in movies, Like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: have you had sex and awkward places before? Well, I'm
- 24:19Speaker 1: not gonna go too into my sex life for everybody,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but I do. I think I have hooked up on
- 24:24Speaker 1: the beach with with with someone and thought this looks
- 24:27Speaker 1: way better in the movies. There's like sand in my creases. Yeah. No,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I have never had sex and really any awkward. There
- 24:35Speaker 1: you go. We're giving the exclusive here on fake Doctor's
- 24:39Speaker 1: Real Friends Donald Phazon never having sex in an awkward place,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Like I know people that have done it in some
- 24:44Speaker 1: crazy places. I'm like, there's people who are into that.
- 24:47Speaker 1: They're like they like they think of it like notches
- 24:49Speaker 1: on their belt, like we you're not gonna believe where
- 24:51Speaker 1: we bang the hospital roof. Yeah, Turk and Carla, aren't
- 24:58Speaker 1: that couple? What about those people who bran rag about
- 25:00Speaker 1: having sex on air in airplane bathrooms. I always thought
- 25:02Speaker 1: that would be humiliating to come out of the bathroom
- 25:06Speaker 1: and everyone's looking at you and so obvious what you did.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's not. Well, the thing is not a lot of
- 25:14Speaker 1: people have the opportunity to have sex over a mile
- 25:17Speaker 1: above the earth, right, And so I get the allure. Yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: you do get the allure. Yeah, I get the allure,
- 25:23Speaker 1: but I'm not really I'm not jealous of it. Like
- 25:25Speaker 1: you just said, I can't picture you doing that. It
- 25:27Speaker 1: doesn't sound like a very Donald phase on thing to do.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I mean, you never know, so you might. I mean
- 25:34Speaker 1: if it's a private jet, oh, a private jet doesn't count.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I'm talking about a commercial airplane. Like yeah, no, no no, no, no, no,
- 25:41Speaker 1: no no, especially now after what we're going through right
- 25:44Speaker 1: now with this whole quarantine thing. I'm all, before the quarantine,
- 25:47Speaker 1: you would definitely bang in a bathroom. Before the quarantine.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I think a lot of people would be like, yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 1: that's a possibility. But I think after the quarantine thing,
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's like there's a little too much of germs, and
- 25:55Speaker 1: I can't picture Casey Cobb being like, there's no way,
- 25:58Speaker 1: it's absolutely not. I would be like, babe, let's do it,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and she'd look at me like I was stupid. Should
- 26:02Speaker 1: come home, buddy, my own buddy. That's funny, all right.
- 26:06Speaker 1: So the parks called Miller Park. I couldn't help but
- 26:09Speaker 1: think that might be for Krista Miller. Okay, right, yeah, sure,
- 26:14Speaker 1: the parks called Miller Park. I mean, Bill said he's
- 26:16Speaker 1: not great at naming shit. So speaking of Christa Miller,
- 26:18Speaker 1: she's back. She's back, and she looks beautiful and she's
- 26:23Speaker 1: funny as shit. And six thirty three is the first
- 26:26Speaker 1: time I say banana hammock? Nelson, what is a banana hammock?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Is it the thing that Rob that Rob aka Todd
- 26:34Speaker 1: wears the tiny Yes, yes, and and and it's called
- 26:39Speaker 1: a banana hammock because obviously it's like laying your banana
- 26:44Speaker 1: in a Hanna hammock. Okay, now I guess there are
- 26:47Speaker 1: people men that wear these for real strippers. Yeah, I
- 26:51Speaker 1: mean I think if you're comfortable, if you don't have
- 26:53Speaker 1: problems with your thighs rubbing together, banana hammocks are very comfortable.
- 26:59Speaker 1: They do you would could you ever consider? Would you
- 27:02Speaker 1: ever consider? No? Because before you answer, if you knew
- 27:04Speaker 1: you weren't going to be photographed by a Papa rots So,
- 27:08Speaker 1: by the way, singular of Papa Rozzi is Papa Rozzo.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I don't know if you knew that, Okay, if you
- 27:12Speaker 1: knew that you weren't going to be photographed and it
- 27:14Speaker 1: would just be you on the beach and wherever Brazil,
- 27:17Speaker 1: would you would you rock one of those? If I
- 27:19Speaker 1: had no worry about anyone ever seeing me in this, yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 1: then why not go nude? Right? No, I'm talking about
- 27:26Speaker 1: you're still on a beach, people are like around, No,
- 27:29Speaker 1: then no, I would not rock one. If people are around,
- 27:32Speaker 1: then no, I would never. I sometimes think it would
- 27:36Speaker 1: be fun to wear a speedo like you know. Um again,
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't want to wear it and have people look
- 27:41Speaker 1: at me and judge, you know, everything going on. But
- 27:44Speaker 1: I think I just think sometimes when I see people
- 27:46Speaker 1: wearing them, I go, I think that might feel nice
- 27:48Speaker 1: have a speedo on be out and about. Yeah. I don't,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't, I don't. I'd prefer to.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I have issues with like chafing with my thighs and
- 27:56Speaker 1: stuff like that because we don't have a thigh gap. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I got quads and I got some thigh gap I
- 28:05Speaker 1: think I might have a thigh gap. Let me see. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I have a little thigh gap. I don't have a
- 28:10Speaker 1: thigh gap. My my, my, my inner thigh touch. Yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 1: they clap, they clap. That's the worst. Oh, you want
- 28:17Speaker 1: to talk about feeling uh, feeling uh running with the
- 28:24Speaker 1: chafe after a while and then having the burn in between.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You can't jog because of your thighs. I can jog
- 28:31Speaker 1: if I put on something like compression shorts, but I
- 28:33Speaker 1: can't wear like. I can't wear tidy whities, like I
- 28:35Speaker 1: don't wear tighty whities because even just walking is an
- 28:38Speaker 1: issue with tighty whities. Yeah. I don't wear tidy whities
- 28:41Speaker 1: anymore either, but I used to be quite loyal to them. Yeah,
- 28:45Speaker 1: the janitor is for no reason that ninety punched in
- 28:49Speaker 1: the balls by a little girl and m Both the
- 28:52Speaker 1: little girl and the mom acknowledge the janitor, So m Bill,
- 28:59Speaker 1: since you hold fast to the idea that the janitor
- 29:02Speaker 1: only reacted with j D in season one and may
- 29:05Speaker 1: have been a figment of his imagination, why is it
- 29:09Speaker 1: that a little girl randomly punches Neil in the balls
- 29:12Speaker 1: and he reacts. Yeah, when the janitor got hitting the
- 29:17Speaker 1: balls by that girl, like the nine and a half
- 29:20Speaker 1: minute mark. You want me to explain how the janitor
- 29:25Speaker 1: can only interact with j D if this actually happened,
- 29:28Speaker 1: that's easy, Um five six, Stop fucking guy, Um the
- 29:38Speaker 1: old school PSA. Yes, great, hilarious, so funny, very funny
- 29:43Speaker 1: and very clever. Yeah, I mean really and and just
- 29:46Speaker 1: well executed. Kudos to Jeff Melman, the director and deb
- 29:51Speaker 1: for writing it. I thought that was just really clever,
- 29:53Speaker 1: really well executed. Those those sort of spoofing, those nineteen
- 29:56Speaker 1: fifties you know, what do you call them instructional videos? Yes,
- 30:01Speaker 1: But then afterward, after the fantasy was over, we did
- 30:04Speaker 1: it again where the person who did the voice over
- 30:09Speaker 1: for the fantasy is now in the room with you, right,
- 30:11Speaker 1: and he brings up like communism as though he's still
- 30:14Speaker 1: back in the fifties, right, and then looks he's looking
- 30:17Speaker 1: off into the distance, I guess, into nowhere, and then
- 30:21Speaker 1: you look at him to see what he's looking at, right,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and then you exit that direction. I think he was
- 30:25Speaker 1: trying to be one of those like, you know, picture
- 30:28Speaker 1: like a nineteen fifties announcer guy who's like looking off
- 30:30Speaker 1: into the distance, and thus we will fight communism and so,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and then he's sort of frozen like that. And then
- 30:36Speaker 1: but it was sort of a JD sort of headlook.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So then I kind of did a look to him
- 30:40Speaker 1: like are you doing my thing? Or what are you
- 30:41Speaker 1: looking at? And then I try to look where he
- 30:43Speaker 1: was going. But that's pulling out of a fantasy and
- 30:46Speaker 1: still being yes, you know, it's rather example of that's
- 30:49Speaker 1: not something that happened too often. No, this is like
- 30:52Speaker 1: then the second time it happened. Well, we talked about
- 30:54Speaker 1: the guy who was frozen after at the orderly, who
- 30:57Speaker 1: was frozen after everybody else was frozen. It's not something
- 31:00Speaker 1: I think Bill. I think he said that he started
- 31:02Speaker 1: phasing that out, but I thought it was clever, very clever.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Same here, um, I UM, I have a couple of things.
- 31:12Speaker 1: We shaved the baby, I laughed out loud. I laughed
- 31:15Speaker 1: out loud. I shaved the baby, shaved in a haircut.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Two yeah, I laughed out loud. That was JD's jad's
- 31:25Speaker 1: um improvisation for solving the problem. We shaved the baby.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You shaved the baby, yep, shaved the baby, shave and
- 31:34Speaker 1: a haircut. Long pause. Two bits Bill told me um
- 31:40Speaker 1: early on that one of the things he loved about
- 31:43Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox working on Spin City was that Michael J.
- 31:47Speaker 1: And everybody, when you think about this, when you hear this,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you'll think about family ties. And some of the amazing
- 31:53Speaker 1: timing he had was that he knew how long he
- 31:57Speaker 1: could milk a pause before that punchline. Like Michael J.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Fox was fucking genius at you know, I'll just use
- 32:04Speaker 1: this example, how long he could have the audience, especially
- 32:07Speaker 1: if the audience got ahead of it, right, he knew
- 32:09Speaker 1: that you still, I mean, it's even better with a
- 32:11Speaker 1: sitcom live audience, but he knew that shaven a haircut,
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know, like he could he could just milk it.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Even if the audience started and a sitcom started giggling
- 32:24Speaker 1: because they were ahead of it. He could just milk that.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And Bill said, and I think I think that landed
- 32:29Speaker 1: in my head in some of my scrubs timings because
- 32:32Speaker 1: I wanted to impress him like Michael J. Fox. But um,
- 32:36Speaker 1: but I but I I always think of that when
- 32:38Speaker 1: you watch some of Michael J. Fox's amazing timing, how
- 32:41Speaker 1: how he could just he just was a master of
- 32:43Speaker 1: how long to hold it, like even let the audience
- 32:45Speaker 1: get ahead of it. It's fine, and then say and
- 32:47Speaker 1: it would be so much more gratifying, right, I mean,
- 32:50Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox is you know, one of our our
- 32:52Speaker 1: best when it comes to Family Ties. Did you watch
- 32:56Speaker 1: Family Ties? Of course I watched Family Ties. He was
- 32:59Speaker 1: amazing in that. And also Back to the Future, you know,
- 33:02Speaker 1: the first. I talk about Back to the Future a
- 33:04Speaker 1: lot because it's one of my favorite movies, but the
- 33:06Speaker 1: first Back to the Future. I know there's some plot
- 33:08Speaker 1: holes in it that a lot of people can't get over,
- 33:12Speaker 1: but to me, that movie is almost flawless, you know
- 33:14Speaker 1: what I mean. As far as time travel stories are
- 33:17Speaker 1: so difficult to do, you know what I mean? And
- 33:20Speaker 1: or I shouldn't say it difficult to do. I should
- 33:22Speaker 1: say they're just doing a time travel story. It's been
- 33:26Speaker 1: done so many times before, and so you have to
- 33:28Speaker 1: be pretty creative to make it feel like, oh, this
- 33:32Speaker 1: is oh you know, people say another time travel story.
- 33:35Speaker 1: But if it's as good as Back to the Future was,
- 33:40Speaker 1: you accept it and you're willing to go on the ride.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Otherwise it's like some cheese shit, and you you know,
- 33:46Speaker 1: theory gets in the way of a lot of stuff.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And they just it's just one of those movies that
- 33:53Speaker 1: you know, you make a it's just it's in my opinion,
- 33:55Speaker 1: it's one. It's a perfect movie. And wasn't it amazing
- 33:58Speaker 1: that a movie you could turn out that good? And
- 34:01Speaker 1: it was a film that they started over because they
- 34:04Speaker 1: recast the lead, right yeah, well yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 34:08Speaker 1: mean you mentioned this, you mentioned this before, but for
- 34:10Speaker 1: those of you who didn't hear that or didn't know
- 34:11Speaker 1: it was originally Eric Stoltz, I don't know how long
- 34:14Speaker 1: they shot. You read the book. Do you remember they
- 34:15Speaker 1: shot half of the movie, So they shot all of
- 34:17Speaker 1: the stuff that credible. They shot half of the fucking movie. Yeah,
- 34:21Speaker 1: so they shot everything in the fifties. What they talk
- 34:24Speaker 1: about They talk about the movie like, you know, Michael J.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Fox is very athletic. It's the name of this book.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Do you remember. For people don't remember it, dude tweeted,
- 34:34Speaker 1: But they shot half the movie and they said, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox is very athletic. But they said Eric
- 34:39Speaker 1: Stolts on a skateboard was magic. He just seemed way
- 34:42Speaker 1: more at home on a skateboard than it was a skateboard. Yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: right then, Michael J. Fox did, and you know the
- 34:48Speaker 1: rock and roll side of things. They say in the book.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You know, Eric Stoltz had that, you know, has that
- 34:54Speaker 1: very much grun rock appeal to him, you know what
- 34:59Speaker 1: I mean. And Jay Fox is you know, he is
- 35:02Speaker 1: he is what he is. He's you know, when you
- 35:05Speaker 1: look at him, you're not like, yo, that dude is
- 35:09Speaker 1: just Licksen's to rock all it. Even even if he
- 35:11Speaker 1: does you know what I mean, he doesn't have that
- 35:13Speaker 1: look to him. And they said, Eric did, it just
- 35:16Speaker 1: didn't work out. Yeah, I mean, how humbling can you
- 35:19Speaker 1: imagine your I mean, thank god. Eric Stoltz went on
- 35:21Speaker 1: to have this incredible career and holy shit in Mask
- 35:24Speaker 1: if you haven't. And that's the thing. So they talk
- 35:27Speaker 1: about that in the book. The reason why he was
- 35:28Speaker 1: put in the movie was because he had Mask, the
- 35:31Speaker 1: Mask coming out, you know what I mean, And so
- 35:33Speaker 1: they were banking on him getting nominated for an Academy
- 35:36Speaker 1: Award for that movie, but then being in this blockbuster
- 35:39Speaker 1: action adventure time travel movie. The name of the book
- 35:43Speaker 1: is Back to the Future. I got to click on
- 35:45Speaker 1: The Ultimate Visual History. Yes, Back to the Future, The
- 35:50Speaker 1: Ultimate Visual History by Michael Klasterin Yeah, so if you're
- 35:55Speaker 1: a fan of the movie, uh like as much as
- 35:57Speaker 1: Donald is, you might want to check that out because
- 35:59Speaker 1: it sounds fascinating. I'm always fascinating these production stories where
- 36:03Speaker 1: someone's recast or they start over. I mean, I don't
- 36:06Speaker 1: know if it's true, so don't hold me to this.
- 36:08Speaker 1: But I heard that American Beauty, which is one of
- 36:10Speaker 1: my favorite movies, they shot like, not not as much
- 36:13Speaker 1: as this, but they shot like a week of and
- 36:15Speaker 1: and um, and the director said to the producers, I
- 36:20Speaker 1: I didn't get the tone quite right. You know, the
- 36:22Speaker 1: tone of American media is so specific. And as the
- 36:26Speaker 1: as the rumor I heard goes, he said, I just
- 36:28Speaker 1: didn't quite nail it. I need to I need to
- 36:30Speaker 1: scrap that week and start over. And and the DreamWorks producers,
- 36:34Speaker 1: including Spielberg and the other fellows, let him do it.
- 36:36Speaker 1: That's interesting because Spielberg's very much involved in Back to
- 36:39Speaker 1: the Future as so maybe he's the kind of producer
- 36:41Speaker 1: that if you're lets with Sam Mende, sorry Sam Mendi's
- 36:44Speaker 1: first film, and I love American Beauty, please see that
- 36:47Speaker 1: if you haven't. But I again, it might be Hollywood lore,
- 36:50Speaker 1: But I heard that that that they sort of started
- 36:52Speaker 1: over again on that one. So these stories where where
- 36:54Speaker 1: some movie is so incredible, it has such an impact,
- 36:58Speaker 1: and then there's there's something that happened where they happens
- 37:01Speaker 1: all the time some you know, some Star Wars movie.
- 37:04Speaker 1: They did that with some of the Star Wars movies,
- 37:05Speaker 1: like Rogue one. Apparently there's a whole you know, they
- 37:09Speaker 1: shot almost all of Rogue one and went back and
- 37:12Speaker 1: reshot a lot of the stuff in it. Really, yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 1: same thing with the same thing with Solo. You remember,
- 37:18Speaker 1: you know, of course that's changing, that's changing the directors.
- 37:21Speaker 1: That's that's seven crazy. Yeah, but there's a whole cut.
- 37:24Speaker 1: There's a whole movie. According to Lore, there's a whole
- 37:27Speaker 1: movie that they made that you can actually take all
- 37:31Speaker 1: of the special effects and all of the things that
- 37:33Speaker 1: they did in the actual Solo movie and you can
- 37:37Speaker 1: put it into what they shot and it's a completely
- 37:40Speaker 1: different movie, but it still all fits. What do you
- 37:42Speaker 1: think happen? They were obviously my guesses, they were just
- 37:45Speaker 1: doing their hilarious improv comedic thing. And then Kathleen Kennedy
- 37:49Speaker 1: that's her name, did she just not like that style?
- 37:51Speaker 1: She's saying that's not Star wars. No, I don't know
- 37:54Speaker 1: if it was her. I don't know if it was
- 37:56Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the writer of the
- 37:58Speaker 1: movie who's gone on to write some incredible movies. Uh,
- 38:02Speaker 1: Jonathan Kasden. It's Jonathan, but his dad wrote Raiders the
- 38:06Speaker 1: Lost Ark. Yeah. Lawrence Kasten, Yeah, he wrote Raised in the
- 38:09Speaker 1: the Lost Ark The Empire strikes Back and they both
- 38:11Speaker 1: teamed up to right solo. I don't know what happened.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I'd love to know that story. We could reach out
- 38:15Speaker 1: to them and they want to be on the podcast,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and right here they want to talk about I don't
- 38:19Speaker 1: think even if we were to get Chris and Phil
- 38:21Speaker 1: on the podcast, I don't think they're gonna out there whole.
- 38:24Speaker 1: So let's ask Jonathan Kaston and Lawrence Caston. All right,
- 38:27Speaker 1: they'll never do it. I don't think how cool would
- 38:30Speaker 1: it be if I could go and cut two and
- 38:31Speaker 1: then they said it. You know, as the podcast gets
- 38:39Speaker 1: bigger and bigger, maybe we'll be able to get like
- 38:41Speaker 1: really fancy guests like and now Lawrence Kasten. Um. Yeah.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I always wondered what happened with that, because I don't
- 38:50Speaker 1: know why you'd hire Christen Phil if not to do
- 38:52Speaker 1: what they do so well, which was to make it funny.
- 38:56Speaker 1: And it seems to me, not as someone who's just
- 38:58Speaker 1: dialed into the Star Wars universe as you. But when
- 39:00Speaker 1: I think of Han Solo, I think, oh, let's give
- 39:03Speaker 1: him some some jokes. Let's have him be quippy and funny.
- 39:06Speaker 1: And it seemed like a perfect marriage. But it would
- 39:08Speaker 1: be a real interesting it'd be very interesting to see that.
- 39:12Speaker 1: You know that sidefects and I love Solo, you know
- 39:14Speaker 1: what I mean. There are a lot of people out
- 39:15Speaker 1: there that really like that movie, and I'm one of
- 39:18Speaker 1: those people. Um, it's a fun Star Wars movie. So
- 39:21Speaker 1: then Ron Howard came in, and you know, he's an
- 39:24Speaker 1: amazing director himself, right, you know, it's one of my
- 39:27Speaker 1: favorite Ron Howard movies is Parenthood the movie if you
- 39:30Speaker 1: have great cast, great movie. He went on. They went
- 39:34Speaker 1: on to make a very popular TV show, starting My
- 39:36Speaker 1: Doppelgang or Dak Shephard. I'm gonna say something right now,
- 39:40Speaker 1: that movie has one of my favorite actors. I am
- 39:42Speaker 1: a huge fan of Rick moranis Yeah, has been. He's amazing. Yeah,
- 39:46Speaker 1: he's on his way. I guess he's he's agreed to
- 39:48Speaker 1: do another project. I don't know what it is, but
- 39:50Speaker 1: he's honey, I shrunk the kids. Maybe he's coming back
- 39:52Speaker 1: for that. That would be so awesome. I know they're
- 39:54Speaker 1: redoing that with Josh Gadd and I think of that
- 39:57Speaker 1: he might be joining him. So well's nodding, so that
- 40:00Speaker 1: means yeah. Rick Morani's tragically lost his wife at the
- 40:04Speaker 1: height of his career, so he quit to raise his children,
- 40:07Speaker 1: and now his children are growing and he's coming back,
- 40:09Speaker 1: and I'm so excited. God, he's so talented. I'm so
- 40:13Speaker 1: I'm so happy he's coming back because he's a funny,
- 40:15Speaker 1: funny man. All right, let's get back to the show.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Let's get back to the show. Donald one of my
- 40:20Speaker 1: favorite fantasies. Uh, and I still use it to this day.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I ain't buying it. Trying to sell somebody the book
- 40:28Speaker 1: on the kid getting hit, the baby with prenatal lice. Yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 1: and Christa says what it says, I'm buying it at
- 40:36Speaker 1: the funny that's funny, that's funny. And you passed something
- 40:39Speaker 1: that I wanted to say still about shaving the baby's head.
- 40:41Speaker 1: That was funny. Oh when when Johnny sees mad that
- 40:43Speaker 1: I didn't correctly tape over them. By the way, for
- 40:45Speaker 1: those of you are young, that's that's a VHS recorder.
- 40:48Speaker 1: So there used to be these giant tapes called VHS tapes. Um,
- 40:52Speaker 1: but I was laughing, and when Johnny SE's yelling at
- 40:54Speaker 1: me because I fucked up the tape, and I go,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I was there, I could you know, jot down some
- 41:02Speaker 1: of my feelings and impressions? It's I could I could
- 41:07Speaker 1: you know, hot down some of my feelings and impressions? Like,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I was good, What am I gonna do? Like write down? Like?
- 41:14Speaker 1: And then the head emerged. Um, let's talk about Johnny
- 41:21Speaker 1: c McGinley as the Grinch. That was really funny. He
- 41:23Speaker 1: nailed that, Yes he did. Yeah. And the words that
- 41:28Speaker 1: he's saying are those words from doctor Seus's nurse. I
- 41:31Speaker 1: think they're supposed to be doctor Susy, but they're not
- 41:34Speaker 1: real sus But they're not real Seuss words. Yeah. But
- 41:36Speaker 1: they did a great job on his hair and makeup.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I thought he looked really cool and he was. It
- 41:40Speaker 1: was funny looking. I wonder how long he was in
- 41:42Speaker 1: hair and makeup for I could I could tell from
- 41:44Speaker 1: from being on the show that was hours and hours
- 41:46Speaker 1: and hours. He had hair like green hair glued to
- 41:49Speaker 1: his face and stuff. Yeah, Sinner Man by Nina Simone,
- 41:52Speaker 1: which is they really must have rolled out the bucks
- 41:54Speaker 1: for it to pay for Nina Simone on this episode.
- 41:56Speaker 1: As you run to the to Miller Park, to Miller Park,
- 42:00Speaker 1: you know that that was what I was talking about
- 42:02Speaker 1: when we were talking about the platform shoes, and they
- 42:07Speaker 1: made Deontay do all of the things that you saw
- 42:10Speaker 1: me do in that episode in like twelve inch platform shoes. However,
- 42:14Speaker 1: sure how much shorter he is than me? Eight inch? Whatever?
- 42:17Speaker 1: Why are you running? Why are you running like a
- 42:19Speaker 1: cartoon character? Do you notice that? It's like this really
- 42:22Speaker 1: dramatic moment and then you're taking corners. You know how
- 42:25Speaker 1: when cartoon people run, they're like skid at the corners
- 42:27Speaker 1: and they have to like like catch you're doing that?
- 42:30Speaker 1: Ship Well, it's all It all comes from Michael J.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Fox Man speaking. We spoke about him earlier. It really
- 42:38Speaker 1: is true, man, Mike. Michael J. Fox had some of
- 42:41Speaker 1: the best running moments in the history of running in
- 42:45Speaker 1: teen Wolf when he's running through the halls and the
- 42:48Speaker 1: guys mopping and he's like it's slippery, that way and
- 42:51Speaker 1: Mike runs through and then slides all the way through camera,
- 42:54Speaker 1: run the way through the hallway and then comes running back.
- 42:57Speaker 1: But as he's coming back, he's trying to keep his
- 42:59Speaker 1: balance on the slippery floor. So you're saying that moment
- 43:02Speaker 1: you're running, and this was inspiring everything everything, I you know, everything,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I've done. Everything I do, I do it for you,
- 43:10Speaker 1: I do it for Michael J. F Well, no, but
- 43:12Speaker 1: every there's a you know, whether it's a run or
- 43:16Speaker 1: a walk or you know, a facial expression. A lot
- 43:19Speaker 1: of these come from my favorite actors, So like Harrison Ford,
- 43:22Speaker 1: Denzel Washington, Sydney Portier, Michael J. Fox, Rick Moranis, Robin Williams,
- 43:29Speaker 1: Bill Murray. You know, all of these people did something
- 43:32Speaker 1: that I saw and I was like, I'm gonna I'm
- 43:35Speaker 1: gonna try and dot I wrote down in nineteen eighteen,
- 43:38Speaker 1: Turk runs like a cartoon character. Right, that all came
- 43:41Speaker 1: from me trying to run like Michael J. Fox. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 1: So Turke gets a sign. He's on the roof again, Right,
- 43:47Speaker 1: You're on the roof again. Yeah, and you're just up
- 43:49Speaker 1: there having a moment and you have a come to
- 43:52Speaker 1: Jesus moment if you will that there's a pregnant woman
- 43:55Speaker 1: about to give birth in the park, and you run
- 43:58Speaker 1: and you run like a cartoon character to Nina Simone's
- 44:01Speaker 1: Center Man beautiful song and uh, and then you run
- 44:05Speaker 1: to the park and you deliver a baby. Now that
- 44:07Speaker 1: Turk probably hasn't delivered that many babies. Well, he's a surgeon,
- 44:11Speaker 1: but he's not. Yeah, he's probably done a fair amount.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I imagine that he's he's not a guy, no, but
- 44:16Speaker 1: I know him. Oh, I want to go to something
- 44:18Speaker 1: that Joel, the speaking of guy knows we're jumping around.
- 44:21Speaker 1: But in the very beginning the episode, Kelso is is
- 44:23Speaker 1: being sexist and saying to Sarah that she's going to
- 44:26Speaker 1: become a guy in college ob gyn and then Joel
- 44:30Speaker 1: found this thing. According to an article by the American
- 44:33Speaker 1: Medical Association the Breakdown of Specialties dominated by women in
- 44:37Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, eighty three point four percent of ob GYNs
- 44:43Speaker 1: are women. Wow, and seventy two percent of pediatricians are women.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Am I reading that right? Joe So? Which was well,
- 44:54Speaker 1: I mean I was offended by Kelso. I was like,
- 44:57Speaker 1: fuck this guy. And then Joel handing me the and uh,
- 45:01Speaker 1: you know, I guess, but I understand that, like I
- 45:04Speaker 1: I was your was your have your ob gyn's been
- 45:08Speaker 1: been female? Or male? Uh? First one was a guy?
- 45:12Speaker 1: I was asking Donald Joel, but please, oh my god, Joel,
- 45:19Speaker 1: this question, like for his wife got laughing so hard.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Jobel got so lost in the episode, she started answering,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you're totally asking. Wait, Joel, sorry, I want I want
- 45:31Speaker 1: you to answer. Don't get me wrong, but you go
- 45:33Speaker 1: furtist and then we'll call on Donald. Donald has had
- 45:36Speaker 1: eleven thousand children, So I wanted to know what go
- 45:39Speaker 1: for you, Joel? Have your ob g y n's been
- 45:41Speaker 1: uh mostly let's say mostly? Yeah? Three women, one guy?
- 45:45Speaker 1: How about you? Donald's my life, Casey's is a male?
- 45:49Speaker 1: M h and and and your other other baby mamas?
- 45:52Speaker 1: Do you remember you don't remember? It's okay not to remember.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I don't. I feel like if I was giving birth
- 45:57Speaker 1: and I had a vagina, i'd want a woman. But
- 45:59Speaker 1: maybe I'm maybe that's ridiculous to say, I just what's
- 46:02Speaker 1: my gut response? Okay, Well, here's a here's here's a
- 46:04Speaker 1: good survey. We should, we should do and we won't
- 46:06Speaker 1: and we won't. Use uh that as an example. Let's
- 46:10Speaker 1: use massaging as an example. Okay, yeah, yeah, because that's
- 46:14Speaker 1: pretty intimate and it's harmless. And what do you get
- 46:16Speaker 1: a man or a woman? Exactly? What do you get
- 46:18Speaker 1: a man? I always get a woman. Same here, Joel
- 46:21Speaker 1: the strongest hands, who has the strongest hands? So you choose,
- 46:26Speaker 1: You say who's got the best hands. So when they
- 46:29Speaker 1: say manner of female, male or female, you say strongest hands. Absolutely.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Oh the end. I thought it was funny that Sarah
- 46:34Speaker 1: was You're holding Jooty like in front of you, but
- 46:37Speaker 1: Sarah's holding me in front of her, right in front
- 46:40Speaker 1: of the Christmas tree. Yes, yes, funny. I also there
- 46:44Speaker 1: was one other part that we should talk about, and
- 46:46Speaker 1: that's uh, when Cox and Jordan are fighting each other
- 46:50Speaker 1: about the haircut, shaving and everything like that, and then
- 46:53Speaker 1: you jump in the middle and then they automatically turn
- 46:57Speaker 1: on j D. And that's a lesson that I've learned
- 47:01Speaker 1: at ay, that I learned at a young age. I
- 47:03Speaker 1: guess JD was never you know, I didn't have friends
- 47:06Speaker 1: that had brothers or sisters or anything like that. But
- 47:09Speaker 1: never get involved in a couple is fighting. You stay
- 47:12Speaker 1: out of it, unless unless they invite you into the argument.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Stay away because that thing will turn on you so quick.
- 47:19Speaker 1: It's hard sometimes because you want to weigh in but
- 47:21Speaker 1: you can't. But you can't. You gotta keep it to yourself.
- 47:23Speaker 1: You gotta keep it to yourself. I had friends growing up,
- 47:26Speaker 1: the Rogers brothers, there was four of them, right, and
- 47:29Speaker 1: they would you know, when they fought, they would fight viciously,
- 47:32Speaker 1: punching and grabbing and choking, and you know, they would
- 47:34Speaker 1: beat each other up and you'd be like, you guys
- 47:37Speaker 1: are brothers, stop it, and you'd get in the middle
- 47:39Speaker 1: of it, and then their anger all of a sudden
- 47:42Speaker 1: went from them wanting to kick each other's ass to
- 47:45Speaker 1: now them kicking your ass. And two on one ain't fun, dude,
- 47:48Speaker 1: or three on one, four on one ain't fun, man,
- 47:51Speaker 1: and it would be it would be I would So
- 47:53Speaker 1: when JD did that to Jordan and Cox, I was like,
- 47:59Speaker 1: that's the dumb that's a rookie mistake. That's the dumbest
- 48:01Speaker 1: move ever. Never get involved in couples arguing, right right,
- 48:05Speaker 1: I well, I I definitely try and stay out. But
- 48:08Speaker 1: in your head you're thinking like you're you're judging, and
- 48:11Speaker 1: you're saying, like, aren't you also happy when you're out
- 48:13Speaker 1: in public and you see a couple of fighting and
- 48:14Speaker 1: you're like, yes, it's not me. Yeah, absolutely absolutely. That's
- 48:19Speaker 1: the one thing that my wife and I tried not
- 48:21Speaker 1: to do. It's always like to wait, wait till we
- 48:24Speaker 1: get home, wait till we Oh, really you do the
- 48:26Speaker 1: wait till we get home? Well, I don't do that.
- 48:27Speaker 1: That's what she does to me. Really, we can talk
- 48:30Speaker 1: when we get home, go right and I know, right
- 48:33Speaker 1: there and there, I'm not going to I'm not going
- 48:35Speaker 1: to sleep tonight. And then you have to drive home
- 48:38Speaker 1: and just like in silence, yeah, and then we walk
- 48:41Speaker 1: in and it's on. And my wife's the type of
- 48:44Speaker 1: person that's like, I don't like going to ben mad. Well,
- 48:47Speaker 1: at least she has it out, you know. I I
- 48:49Speaker 1: think that's way better to have it out, even if
- 48:51Speaker 1: it's like impassioned, rather than just sitting on it. I
- 48:53Speaker 1: hate that and U and I don't think you should
- 48:56Speaker 1: go to sleep mad either. I think that's a good
- 48:59Speaker 1: a good habit to have. Trying. Dude, I've been I've
- 49:02Speaker 1: been damn near sleeping where I'm just in huh, where
- 49:05Speaker 1: I'm passed out, my eyes are closed and I'm just
- 49:08Speaker 1: agreeing now right, just so I could go to sleep
- 49:11Speaker 1: the Path of Least Resistance and She'll be like, so
- 49:13Speaker 1: what did I say? And I'd be like, oh, gosh,
- 49:15Speaker 1: there you go. See you are listening. I was listening.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Don't go to been angry. Everybody that's here from fake
- 49:26Speaker 1: Doctor's real friends. Oh, one last thing I've forgotten. Let's
- 49:29Speaker 1: ask Bill about this. Also, go ahead, before we're gonna
- 49:32Speaker 1: go to We're gonna get Bill two this week. Okay,
- 49:33Speaker 1: go ahead, Yeah, okay, So there was an alternate ending
- 49:36Speaker 1: to this episode, right, but that's that's so dark. Note
- 49:40Speaker 1: so dark. It was so dark to end the Christmas episode.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I wasn't even to bring it up because we were
- 49:44Speaker 1: being so giddy and it's a bit it's a bit dark,
- 49:46Speaker 1: but okay, go for it. Yeah, there was a dark
- 49:48Speaker 1: ending to this episode, and I'm sure that I don't
- 49:50Speaker 1: think it wasn't was it an ending or it was
- 49:51Speaker 1: a subplot that was woven through. I think it was
- 49:54Speaker 1: a subplot. It might have been let's ask Bill, Bill.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I know at the end of this episode, there was
- 49:59Speaker 1: a moment in between Jordan and Uh we almost forgot
- 50:03Speaker 1: about the call. There was a moment with Jordan and
- 50:07Speaker 1: uh and Cox where they said something different when they
- 50:11Speaker 1: were looking at the baby when they finally went to
- 50:14Speaker 1: visit the baby, and there was no there was a subplot.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Do you want me to tell you what it is
- 50:19Speaker 1: and then have Bill talk about it? Sure, it was
- 50:21Speaker 1: a subplot that they when they were together, had lost
- 50:23Speaker 1: a child and um, so that was some of the
- 50:27Speaker 1: dramatic undertones of of of them and dealing with their
- 50:32Speaker 1: friends having a new baby, and that's why they didn't
- 50:34Speaker 1: want to go to the room, right. And I believe
- 50:37Speaker 1: or the or the nursery where you see kids, and
- 50:40Speaker 1: I believe that Bill had an argument with the network
- 50:43Speaker 1: about cutting that out. So Bill tell us about that
- 50:47Speaker 1: and what your struggle with the network was, please, you know,
- 50:50Speaker 1: it's interesting. I don't remember specifically the struggle with the
- 50:53Speaker 1: Jordan Cox losing a baby thing. But the one thing
- 50:57Speaker 1: that we were always dealing with early on in Scrub
- 51:01Speaker 1: was that we would pitch the network stories that weren't
- 51:05Speaker 1: specifically comedies, you know, and it didn't sound like, Hey,
- 51:09Speaker 1: three patients come in and one of the three of
- 51:11Speaker 1: them are going to die, but they all three die. Hey,
- 51:14Speaker 1: Doctor Cox used to be married to someone they lost
- 51:16Speaker 1: a baby. Hey, we're gonna introduce a super big movie
- 51:20Speaker 1: star guest star who seems really funny in jovial, but
- 51:22Speaker 1: he's gonna have Lukemian then come back next year and
- 51:25Speaker 1: die from it. So we always met resistance. Thank you, Bill.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Let's take a break. We'll be right back after these
- 51:32Speaker 1: fine words, now, Joelle, I believe we have a caller
- 51:45Speaker 1: or two. Hi, guys, how are you doing? Brian good?
- 51:48Speaker 1: How are you Bryan O'Malley? Oh my god, Brian, you
- 51:52Speaker 1: got to record that somehow? You good? I am recording
- 51:55Speaker 1: it actually, And you know what, Brian, that can be
- 51:57Speaker 1: your your new ring tone, Donald giving you an opera?
- 52:00Speaker 1: Oh mav and why oh man? That is definitely gonna happen.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Speaking of ring tones, I digress for a moment. The
- 52:09Speaker 1: good people at I Heeart are putting together the ability
- 52:12Speaker 1: for for folks to have our theme song be your
- 52:15Speaker 1: ring tone. We're working on it, and that's in the
- 52:18Speaker 1: works because I've gotten been getting a lot of love
- 52:20Speaker 1: on the social media for our theme song, especially Wilder's version,
- 52:24Speaker 1: and um, Wilder's version will not that's not going to
- 52:28Speaker 1: be available for Wilder's version will not be available for
- 52:30Speaker 1: ring tone. Although I did her. A lot of people
- 52:32Speaker 1: say that should be the new version forget your version,
- 52:34Speaker 1: but those people are wrong. Um, but pretty bright. What's
- 52:37Speaker 1: your drinking? Man? What are you drinking? Brian? Uh? This
- 52:40Speaker 1: is beer? Okay? What kind of beer you got there?
- 52:43Speaker 1: It's like a hazy I pa juicy eight percent. I
- 52:47Speaker 1: like stuff that's strong. Okay, Well I got myself a
- 52:50Speaker 1: little margarita. Is that just like lime juice? Tequila? I
- 52:55Speaker 1: don't know what they use at Casa Vega the rest
- 52:57Speaker 1: in my neighborhood that they that you're still drinking out
- 53:00Speaker 1: of your your gallons there? We have so many. Yeah,
- 53:03Speaker 1: oh that's awesome. Um, Hi guys, where do you live in?
- 53:06Speaker 1: What's happening in? Brian? Introduce your your girlfriend, wife, friend?
- 53:10Speaker 1: This is my partner. This is uh doctor Ellen, a
- 53:13Speaker 1: grief doc. Hi doc? And uh we live in Evanston. Oh,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I went to Northwestern right, Yeah, so we we we
- 53:22Speaker 1: both worked that here actually too. Um. She works at
- 53:25Speaker 1: a hospital here and I own a small business on
- 53:27Speaker 1: Central Street, you know, right down from the stadium. Um
- 53:31Speaker 1: and so yeah, we just um we do that. And
- 53:34Speaker 1: Ellen is uh eight and yeah, almost nine months pregnant Emma. Congratulations,
- 53:41Speaker 1: congratulations you guys know what you're having a boy? Nice?
- 53:45Speaker 1: Is there a person? But yeah, a person? Good congratulations guys. Yeah,
- 53:50Speaker 1: way to go guys. Yeah, so we're you know, it's
- 53:53Speaker 1: definitely uh anxiety causing you know, I, I, we neither
- 53:57Speaker 1: of us have had kids before. Um. I used to
- 54:00Speaker 1: be a teacher. But it's not quite the same when
- 54:02Speaker 1: you know you can send them home at like three
- 54:04Speaker 1: o'clock and just be done with them. Um. So now
- 54:06Speaker 1: it's like they're here for good. Okay, Brian, I'm gonna
- 54:09Speaker 1: give you a little bit of you're talking to the
- 54:10Speaker 1: right man, Brian Donald many kids, Okay, that's right, Yeah,
- 54:15Speaker 1: something like that. He doesn't even remember something like that, right,
- 54:19Speaker 1: that's that's great. That's a great story. How many kids
- 54:21Speaker 1: you got? Something like nine? Six that I know about.
- 54:26Speaker 1: So the first year, Brian, there's not much you can do,
- 54:32Speaker 1: that's the honest to goodness truth, except be supportive. Change diapers.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But there's not much you can do because the baby.
- 54:39Speaker 1: You can say, can't you say, honey, can I get
- 54:41Speaker 1: you anything? Absolutely better? Say that you have to, right, Yeah,
- 54:45Speaker 1: that's being supportive. So there's not much you can do
- 54:48Speaker 1: the first year. It's after that where you are you
- 54:51Speaker 1: are hands on and in it to win it, or
- 54:54Speaker 1: she's going to leave you. Yeah, yes, yeah, Brian, write
- 54:59Speaker 1: that down. Yes, yes, she is basically keeping us comfortable.
- 55:03Speaker 1: So I'm not gonna play with that at all. Right, well,
- 55:06Speaker 1: I'm so, I'm so happy for you. That's exciting and
- 55:09Speaker 1: thank you. And what do you do? You have any
- 55:11Speaker 1: names in mind, like Zach or Donald? Yeah, I wanted
- 55:15Speaker 1: Jennifer Dylan or something like that. That'll work. It's a boy.
- 55:20Speaker 1: So we went with We're gonna even Gabriel and Colin.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Gabe beautiful. I love it, beautiful, beautiful name. Gabe. Finn O'Malley. Oh,
- 55:30Speaker 1: Finn's a good name too, now, Finn from Star Wars
- 55:33Speaker 1: or just Finn because everything is Star Wars. Donald, sometimes
- 55:37Speaker 1: it can be I couldn't huh, Honestly, I would think
- 55:39Speaker 1: it more Huck Finn from Mark Twain to be okay,
- 55:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there's that fin too, literary Donald, come on,
- 55:45Speaker 1: here's that fin too. Brian, go ahead with your question
- 55:48Speaker 1: for the legendary Donald Fason and it's for both of you. Yeah,
- 55:54Speaker 1: it definitely relates to what we were talking about. But um,
- 55:57Speaker 1: I was curious of which character between you and Donald
- 56:01Speaker 1: and maybe doctor Cox, do you think it was like
- 56:04Speaker 1: the best dad overall? And then kind of a follow up,
- 56:07Speaker 1: but like, what do you think their kids would be
- 56:09Speaker 1: like now, like fifteen twenty years later? Wow? Wow, good question. Well,
- 56:14Speaker 1: I do think both characters were very excited about their children,
- 56:17Speaker 1: and and I think we saw from a flash forward
- 56:21Speaker 1: as I recall that don't they end up getting married?
- 56:24Speaker 1: They do and we and we lose it. That was likesode.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I think I faint. Uh as I recall I did this,
- 56:32Speaker 1: I wiped my I fanned my eyes and fainted. Yeah,
- 56:36Speaker 1: that's a gift I see all the time. Um, I
- 56:40Speaker 1: don't know. I think we'd be great parents because um,
- 56:42Speaker 1: you know, we're both characters were again not afraid of
- 56:47Speaker 1: showing emotion, not afraid of being affectionate. Um I my
- 56:50Speaker 1: father was very a very affectionate man and gave me
- 56:53Speaker 1: hugs and kissed me and and um, and I always
- 56:58Speaker 1: thought that that was and I love that he did that.
- 57:02Speaker 1: And I think that both Turk and j D would
- 57:04Speaker 1: be very involved. They're the kind of fathers that would
- 57:08Speaker 1: want to be all over not one of those people's like,
- 57:10Speaker 1: all right, you to the woman, you handle it. I'll
- 57:13Speaker 1: I'll coach sports one day. That was That was not
- 57:17Speaker 1: my experience. But I think Turk and j D co
- 57:22Speaker 1: parented too, you know what I mean. I think they
- 57:25Speaker 1: helped each other out as far as raising their kids went.
- 57:29Speaker 1: You know, they say it takes a village to raise
- 57:32Speaker 1: a child, and I think their little village. I think
- 57:35Speaker 1: the hospital or you know, wherever they wound up when
- 57:40Speaker 1: the show ended. I'm I believe they still lived in
- 57:44Speaker 1: the same proximity of each other. I think there it
- 57:47Speaker 1: was a communal raising of the children, even even uh,
- 57:53Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think j D. I uh and uh?
- 57:56Speaker 1: What was what was Elizabeth Bank's character's name, Kim? Was
- 58:00Speaker 1: it Kim him? You didn't know Zach, you didn't know.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I was waiting for Brian. I was waiting for Brian.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I was about I was like this, I was like
- 58:11Speaker 1: about to say, I was like pretending that my mouth
- 58:13Speaker 1: was opening, and then Brian said, yeah, Kim Donald, I
- 58:16Speaker 1: was waiting for Zach. Sorry. So my baby mama, my
- 58:19Speaker 1: baby mama. Right. So I think both kids, the one
- 58:21Speaker 1: that he that JD had with Kim and the one
- 58:23Speaker 1: that he had with Elliott uh and then Turk's kids
- 58:27Speaker 1: as well. I think they they were raised together and
- 58:30Speaker 1: they grew up together. I think in one of the
- 58:32Speaker 1: episode you try to like, I think they got you
- 58:34Speaker 1: were trying to set them up, right, like it was
- 58:36Speaker 1: one of the series finales. Maybe that we were trying
- 58:39Speaker 1: to set the kids up. Yeah, weren't they like they
- 58:42Speaker 1: met or something and now they remember. I remember doing
- 58:46Speaker 1: an episode in the park where we're dolls, like dumbs.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Do you have another question? I mean one of my
- 58:56Speaker 1: other questions was just, you know, advice for being a dad.
- 58:58Speaker 1: But you you kind of already covered that. You got this, dude,
- 59:01Speaker 1: you got Yeah. I mean, it's listen, my advice, and
- 59:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you. My advice. Aint shit,
- 59:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep it one hundred with you. You know.
- 59:08Speaker 1: It's it's how you two decide to do the thing.
- 59:12Speaker 1: You know what I mean my advice I can all
- 59:14Speaker 1: I can say is just just show as much love
- 59:17Speaker 1: as you can to your boy. That's so important. I
- 59:21Speaker 1: like what Zach was saying too. I mean me and
- 59:22Speaker 1: Ellen were joking, but I was like, I think, like
- 59:24Speaker 1: the fact that JD was a sensey. You know, like
- 59:28Speaker 1: being sensitive is like an important thing to impart in
- 59:31Speaker 1: kids early, especially boys I think nowadays, and so I
- 59:34Speaker 1: think that's one of our you know, our big focuses
- 59:37Speaker 1: for him and just let them be whoever they are.
- 59:39Speaker 1: You know. A testament to my father was he wasn't
- 59:41Speaker 1: he was so into sports, my dad, but he wasn't
- 59:43Speaker 1: trying to make me a job. He wasn't. Unfortunately, he
- 59:46Speaker 1: was also into theater, which which was what I took
- 59:48Speaker 1: to But um, but I mean, just like my advice,
- 59:51Speaker 1: and again, I have no kids, so don't listen to me.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I have dogs, and I can highly recommend create training.
- 59:56Speaker 1: I try that, but um with the kid. Yeah, well
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: that's what I always say to Donald when I when
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I say to when I'm with Donald and his kids
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: are misbehaving, I'm like, why don't you just put him
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: in the crate? Dude? That works great for my puppy.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: My daughter looked at me and she was like, you're
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: gonna put me in the crate? Yeah right now, She's like,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: but I'm not a dog. But I mean, just let them. Well.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: One of the things I one of the things I
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: really cherished about my relationship with my father was that
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: he was so accepting of whoever his kids were. And
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I you know, you're obviously it's nature nurture. You're going
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: to be shaping a part of who they are, of
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: course too. But but let them show you who they
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: are and then and then and then celebrate that and
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: let that flourish. Again, that's coming from someone with no children,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: but it is coming from someone who had a great
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: dad and and and was really appreciative that he was
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: like that, Well, can I ask one more thing sort
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: of related? But did you guys You know I didn't
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: like look up biographies. Did you guys have siblings? Yes?
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I have several siblings. I have four brothers, two uh
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: that I grew up with and two that I did
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: not grow up with. But we were a big family.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I think that's why I have such a big family.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Now I feel like it's the more the marrier. Yeah,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I have two. I have three. Sorry, let me start again.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I had four children total in my family, and I'm sorry,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: I'm struggling with this. Just to be honest, I lost
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: my sister two years ago, so I'm like literally trying
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: to Sorry, it's okay, but I'm trying to answer this
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: question honestly, and it's like I'm having to recount. There
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: were four children in my family, and then my parents
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: got divorced and remarried and I gained three stepsisters, so
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: two stepsisters on one side, one step sister on the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: other side, so we were we're a huge family. And
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: and yeah, so I also think you guys should have
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: more So sorry, sorry guys, but you're gonna have to
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: have more kids so they can. Well, that's what I
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: would think, because we only have the one, and that's
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: probably gonna be it. Um, so you know, I'm the
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: whole only child, especially nowadays when I don't even know
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: when he'll be able to hang out with other kids,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: you know, or if he'll be able to go to
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: preschool or stuff like that daycare. I think you got
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: it some years before you be worried about that. So
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: vaccines or will be infended and we can all go
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: back to a new normal, right sometime within a year
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: or two. Yeah, awesome? Is the keg still open in Evanston?
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: The bar? No, that's where we used to go and
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: try and sneak in with our fake IDs. Yeah, we're
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: we're like, that's probably what's the name of your what's
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: the name of your place? It's called Beer on Central.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: It's not very inventive because if we're on I want
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: us to do an ad for it. Right now, we're
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: gonna do an ad for it. Donald. But I'm in Evanston, Illinois,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and I want a beer. You know where I go?
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Where do you go, Zach? I go to Beer on Central.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Beer on Central is Oh, yes, Oh it's a place,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: and it's in Evanston. And if you're gonna buy beer,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: it's the best place to buy beer. It's called Beer
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: on Central. Is it on Central? It's on Central. It's
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: called Beer on Central. And you know a lot of
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Northwestern students are always looking for a place to buy beer. Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Do you sell kegs, Brian? We don't, but I mean
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: after this I can. Yes, Brian is gonna change his
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: whole business model to offer kegs to all you can. Yes,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: this is worth millions of dollars in free advertising. Yeah. No,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: this is insane. So Donald's Central Beer on Central. The
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: next time I'm in Evanston, Illinois, I am going to
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: check out Beer on Central. Yeah. And you know what, Donald,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: You know what, Donald, I might even just go to
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Evanston to buy beer from Beer on Central. Yeah, you
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: know what if you do, just tell him, Brian O'Malley sentia,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I will what's a beer that you's the only one there?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: So be like Brian everything, Brian. For for those of
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: people who are listening, who like who like beer, can
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: you recommend one of your microbrew or fancy beers that
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: people should try that you highly recommend? Um, you know
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: right now? Like what's really popular is like I was
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: drinking earlier, these like hazy I pas there tend to
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: be like kind of strong, are very juicy, not bitter,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: very popular. This one's from Saint Aaron. They're great, hot butcher.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: There's a bunch of really cool ones in the city,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: so so so Saint Aaron is the brand. This one. Yeah,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: that's what I'm having now is a Saint Aaron. Can
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I get that in anywhere? Can I get that in
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Los Angeles? No? Like right now, we only do local stuff.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Only doing that's even cool. One of the other things
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I like about beer on Central Donald what it's all
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: it's all local beer. Oh you're talking about beer on Central. Yeah.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: One of the things that one of my favorite things
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: about beer on Central in Evanston, Illinois. Is that it's
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: all all stocked with local breweries. That sounds delicious. I
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: like IPA a lot, by the way, and this is
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: going to sound really lame in Hollywood, but I'm gluten free,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: and uh, there are some really good gluten free IPA beers. Yeah,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: we have some too. There's one called Omission. I'll give
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: a shout out too. And there's one I think called Glutenberg,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: not Steve Gutenberg, Glutenberg Glutenberg. Yeah, there have gluten in
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the title. So there you go. I'm giving those beers
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: a shout out, and they should advertise with us, because
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: we're giving such a wonderful advertisement to beer from you guys.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Out of box, you know, give me an address. No, no, no, no,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I'm not giving you my address. Give me a po box.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: We don't want to take your your wares. We don't
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: want to take your wares. We want you to you
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: need to make that money for this baby. That's right,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: She's right. Really. So that being said, if you're ever
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: in Evanston, Illinois, the place to go for a great
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: local beer. Yeah, beer on Central, Beer on Central. Everybody
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: beer on Central. And listen, guys, thanks for coming on
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: thanks for the good questions, thanks for telling us about
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Beer on Central, and um, have fun and I's Illinois.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I spent I spent four years there and had a
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: great time, although it's too fucking cold for human beings.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. Big round of applause for Brian o'maly
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: and Beer on Central. Wow, you give you give beer
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: on Central? The oper treatment? Yeah, why not? What's what's
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: the name of your partner? Again? Ellen and doctor Ellen agreed,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: thank you. You're blowing out the mixer here, Donald, I'm
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: not Oprah. Oprah doesn't go that loud. Sure, she has
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: them the mixer at the Oprah shows, like here she
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: goes and he's fucking reagular. She's about to do it
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: and over the button. You can just see the mixer
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: in the back of the Opra show going, oh shit,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: she's gonna yell, I'm getting this finger over. I hope
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Dan does that when you're when you're saying a load
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: of guests, all right, bye, guys, thank you so much,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: thank you so much. Healthy, congratulations you thanks, thank you. Wow. Donald?
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: What what nice folks? Donald? And Um and I gotta
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: tell you, Um, I'm gonna I'm gonna. I'm gonna. I'm
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: gonna frequent beer on Central next time you're in Evanston, Illinois.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Do you drink beer? You't only drink beer anymore, do you.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I'm a huge a drinker. I just you know, it's
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: so fine. I find yeah, I find that. Uh it's
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: a little heavy for me. That's the only thing. It
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: just feels like shit when you're working out and trying
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: to stay thin and then you have a fucking big
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: as thick beer and you're like, I might as well
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: have a milkshake, right, I like hard liquor. Yeah, I know,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I like, oh, I know, Oh you're an asshole like tequila? Well, no,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I I you know. I it was sinco de mayo yesterday.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So and the last time I had to kill it
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: was the last thing that I had in the in
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: the in the cupboard. But what I truly like, I
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: like a good bourbon or Scotch. What about Corvassier? No,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: what is what is corvasia? I don't it's a it's
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: a drink. It's a it's a it's a brown liquor. Um.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: You know, for a while I was coasa, she's looking
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I was a Hennessy drinker for a while, you know,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: or ian Ja. I liked ian j back in the day.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I don't know what any of these drinks are. You
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: don't know what Hennessey is. I've heard of Hennessey, but
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever tried. I don't know what Hanna,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: You've had an incredible Hulk before, and you don't know
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: what Hennessey. Do you remember the incredible Hulk? Oh? Well,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: used to play poker and you would make a Oh
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: it's cogniac, she says. We used to play poker and
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you would make a drink called the Hulks. Was that
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: a real drink or you made it up? I didn't
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: make that up. But when you mixed Tennessee and not
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Alasa but hypnotic, Hennessey and hypnotic mixed together, sounds horrible. Oh,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: but it would turn Hulk green and you would only
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: need one. It was so sweet, right, But you'd only
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: need one to knock you on your ass. And we
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: would play poker and the crew would come over, you know,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Calvin would come over, Ethan would come over. You would
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: come over, and we drink that all night and freaking
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: be hammered until like four o'clock, five o'clock in the morning. Yeah,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: playing poker. Have you ever had a cement mixer? What
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the heck is that? It's fucking nasty. It's two different things.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: You guys can google it if you want to puke.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I remember doing this on my twenty first birthday and
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I puked. Um. But it's two different alcohols you put
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: in your mouth and they solidify when they react with
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: each other, and it feels like a cementy oatmeal thing
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: that's disgusted. It's so bross. It's like it's the kind
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: of thing that college kids do shots of, like Yager Moister.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Do you ever do shots a Yeager Moister? Yeah? I'm
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: proud to say that at forty five years old, I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: can't drink like that anymore, nor do I want to hangover.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: It's like four days. Yeah, you know, I've learned a
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: little thing. You remember we did that thing in Scrubs. Yeah,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: pd we did that thing in Scrubs that it's become
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: so relevant in my life. I don't know what episode
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: it was, but we went around the table of all
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the different ages of women. Who was the was Mandy
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: the young? It was many more, and then Sarah and
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: then Judy and then Christa, and they were all hungover,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: and the camera went around and showed all the different
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: levels of how it hangover affects different ages. Yes, and
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: then by the time it got to Christa, she had
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: sunglasses on and was asleep and just blacked out yeah,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: with a smile on her face. I think of that
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: fantasy over, not fantasy. I think of that moment all
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: the time, because, man, a hangover at forty five is
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: not a hangover at twenty five. No, it's not. Listen,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I miss you, do you? It's always so nice to
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: touch base with you. Do you really miss me? Man?
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: If if the world were open, I'd have you over.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: We'd we'd we'd sit by the pool. We'd have we'd
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: have a Margarita. I would I bring my picture of
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Margarita to do you bring your picture over. I'm supposed
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: to write today, but I would. I would scrap writing
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: and just join you by the pool for Margarita's. That's
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: what would happen today. You're working right now, huh I am,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I'm writing. Look do you want to see I'll show you.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Look at this. This is just showing that shit ain't
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: fucking around. This is the first draft. Wow, you're for
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: real about it? He just pulled out a two finger
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: that's about an inch of Yeah, it's way too long
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: right now. A typical screen a typical screenplay for those
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: of you not in the know, it is roughly one
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: hundred and twenty pages, because they say roughly a script
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: works out to a page a minute, and you don't
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: want your movie typically to exceed one hundred and twenty
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: minutes um. And this first draft is one hundred and
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: forty four pages, so there'll be lots of cutting to
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: to occur. But it's happening. Donald, The wheels are turning
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: good for you. Yeah, for you. Aren't you going to
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: ask what you usually ask when I write a screenplay
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: and any black people in it? There are black people
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: in it, and there might even be a part for you,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: a good part, or you just gonna throw me a
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: little bone. You'll probably have to audition. When I gave
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Donald my first draft of Garden State, he said said
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: to me, I really want you to read my script.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: It was my first screenplay. He was my new best friend,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: and I said, I'd really like you to read this,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: And he said, are there any black people in it?
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: And I said, um, there's there's one or two. One
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: you're not right for because he's he's an African man
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: that's been adopted by Natalie Portman's family, and the other
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: is um is being played. At the time you had
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: given to part to most deaf. Is what you said
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: to me? No, I didn't, Yeah, you did, really method
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it was method It was always method man. It was okay,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: so then it was method man at the time you said,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: you said yeah, And then the other part I gave
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: to method Man. And I knew right then and there
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: that I would never read that script. And so Donald
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Donald in protest because I had given the role to
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: to method man. Um never read the script. It's a
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: great movie, though, thank you, thanks very very very well received. Also,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: thank you, and and you're in you know I could
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: thank you. Oh Dan's given thumbs up. And Donald, I mean,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I didn't make the same mistake twice. And I made
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: sure to put you in wish I was here. Yeah,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: and I was very happy to be in that movie
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: as well. Great movie, Mandy, but Timken, holy cow. Yeah,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: and you were very funny in that movie. You only
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: had Mandy Tenken. Let's let's get Mandy Buttemken, Josh Gad
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Holy cow. Yeah, Kate Hudson, Holy cow. Yeah. There's some
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: great performance. And though we just great performance, funny and
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: sh in the movie, let's give a shout out to
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: the film Wish I Was Here, which you can you
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: can see. I think it's on Netflix. You know how
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I know it's on Netflix at least in the United States?
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Is uh Joey King, who's plays My Daughter, has become
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: so faw. Joey King steals the movie and has become
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: so famous that Netflix has redone the poster, so it's
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: just Joey King's face. Even if you don't watch the movie,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: do me a favor and go to your Netflix and
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: look up Wish I Was Here, and you will see
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: it's a picture of Joey King's head because she has
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: become such a big star, and particularly on Netflix with
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: with with Kissing Booth, which was like one of their
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: most watch movies ever. And I just thought it was
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: funny that Netflix was like, no, we don't need Kate Hudson,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Zach Ralph, Josh God, maybe Potancic on the plush are
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: just a shot of Joey's head, but much deserved she's
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: a superstar that she has a superstar. Thank you so
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: much for listening to fake doctor's real friends. I'm your
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: co host, Zach Braff, along with my friend Donald fayze
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: On here to make you laugh, here to make a
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: smile with a touch of nostalgia about sure we made
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: about a bunch of docs and nurses and a janitor
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: who learned him. I said, he's the stories natur all
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: should know. So Gato
