- 0:13We have had another failure within Queensland Police and
- 0:17we've seen Police Minister Mark Ryan make an apology.
- 0:22Before I get into the report, I just want to refresh your memory
- 0:25in case you've forgotten on past performances by Queensland
- 0:30Police Minister Mark Ryan. Still can't believe he's the
- 0:34police minister. Still can't believe he hasn't
- 0:36been booted out. Please, please get him voted out
- 0:41of the next election. Unfortunately, he's still the
- 0:45police minister. I think he sees the writing on
- 0:47the wall. He knows he'll be booted.
- 0:49Hopefully he will. Anyway, just to refresh your
- 0:51memory before we get into the report, remember what he said
- 0:54about because he's got no respect for police in general
- 0:58and no respect for anyone that stands up against him for
- 1:01justice, for right? Because when he was wrong, he
- 1:04just says, hey, who cares, We'll just get new police.
- 1:07So remember this. We can even graduate more
- 1:10recruits if we need to, so there's sufficient resources
- 1:13there. So there you go.
- 1:14I just wanted to remind you of what Mark Ryan said a couple of
- 1:17years ago when, you know, they're having issues with
- 1:20recruiting police because both he and former commissioner,
- 1:25Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll, had so much disdain for
- 1:29the officers that were actually police were serving at the time
- 1:34that anyone who said, well, no, no, we don't want to get the
- 1:38jab. And it's now being proven, now
- 1:40being proven in court that that shouldn't have happened.
- 1:43But anyone who came against them and said no, we don't want to
- 1:46get the jab or they said we, we don't really care what you
- 1:49think, what you believe. We don't care about you.
- 1:51We don't support you as people, as police.
- 1:55Mark Ryan stands up and says, we'll just get new ones.
- 1:57Easy peasy. Just get new police, Mark Ryan.
- 2:01I'm not going to say anymore because it'll just be
- 2:04disparaging. I don't want to just I don't
- 2:08want to be that person anyway. We've got to talk about this
- 2:11other story that's come up the last the last week and Queens
- 2:20and police continuing to fail. But you've got to look at the
- 2:26leadership within Queens and police.
- 2:28It all starts at the top. It it, I think a lot of it comes
- 2:31back to who we've been recruiting, the types of people
- 2:35we've been recruiting over the last, the last probably decade.
- 2:40And also the leadership inability to lead, not holding
- 2:45the right people accountable, trying to spread the blame.
- 2:49And when it's funny because they will really target some people
- 2:55and put all their blame. Like what happened with the the
- 2:57mandates. OK, they came down on police
- 3:01officers who did not believe in the mandates, who did not
- 3:03believe in getting the jab and treated them like criminals,
- 3:06opened investigations, treating these people like criminals,
- 3:10questioning them as if they were criminals.
- 3:14Yet when it's other things that may make the organisation not
- 3:19look good, not reflect well on the organisation, then, you
- 3:24know, then it's then it's kind of playing how, how do you say,
- 3:30how do you say it like trying to be a bit of a magician and, you
- 3:33know, taking the focus on one hand, hey, look at, look at this
- 3:37hand. Don't look at the other hand
- 3:38that's actually doing the magic trick and deceiving you.
- 3:42Let's get into the story. This is about domestic violence,
- 3:46domestic victims within Queensland who again have been
- 3:49let down by Queensland police And, and what have Queensland
- 3:53police done? Well, they haven't, haven't
- 3:59accepted responsibility properly.
- 4:02And in my humble opinion this is a reflection on poor leadership
- 4:07within Australia, within the Queensland within, within law
- 4:12enforcement, within Australia. We see so many stories, police
- 4:17leadership failing, failing you and I, the community, the people
- 4:22they're supposed to serve. So and and very much failing
- 4:27their own offices at times. And we see here, OK, let's bring
- 4:30this up picture of Mark Ryan, probably in my opinion the worst
- 4:36police minister we have had for a generation or two or three,
- 4:41who knows this this headline domestic violence victims
- 4:46addresses sent to offenders by Queensland police in major
- 4:50blunder State government apologised for data system
- 4:53breach as victim says it left her completely defeated, broken,
- 4:58scared and worried. There he is, Mark Ryan, he says
- 5:02he's sorry, very sorry. That'll help her.
- 5:05The addresses of domestic violence victims have been
- 5:07shared with offenders by Queensland Police, including a
- 5:10vulnerable woman. Now if you have been the victim,
- 5:14I got to say when, when you're involved with, when you see
- 5:17domestic violence up close and personal from a police officer.
- 5:20I remember when I was back when I was in on the, on the beats,
- 5:24just in GDS general, general duties policing, you know,
- 5:28there, there's a lot of faults that can be put in both camps at
- 5:33times. But so often you would see
- 5:36victims, genuine victims. You can, you can tell that they
- 5:41were, they were a victim of the cycle of domestic violence.
- 5:46And so many times they could, they couldn't see, they couldn't
- 5:50see the way out. And you have to tip your cap.
- 5:52You have to take your hat off to the ones that could, that were
- 5:55able to dig themselves out of that vicious cycle of domestic
- 6:00violence. Anyway, let's go on with this
- 6:04story. The addresses of of domestic
- 6:09violence victims have been shared with offenders by
- 6:12Queensland police. So the state government
- 6:14apologised on Thursday after it emerged a woman felt completely
- 6:18defeated when her personal information was exposed by the
- 6:22serious data breach. The Premier, Steven Miles,
- 6:26confirmed addresses of victims in at least five matters,
- 6:29including domestic violence cases, had been sent to
- 6:32offenders by police, sparking a review.
- 6:35A victim said she was told by police to move.
- 6:39Just just go up and move. Hey, it's, we all know it's very
- 6:43easy to move addresses. It's extremely easy.
- 6:49Sometimes you've got to wonder about what process of these
- 6:53people, bureaucracy, bureaucrats.
- 6:56So she was just told, hey, get up and move after her address
- 6:59was shared by the computer issue the opposition revealed on
- 7:05Thursday. Now let me give you a little bit
- 7:08of insight into Queensland Police Services There they talk,
- 7:14they say, oh, it was a computer issue.
- 7:17There must have been. There would have been, I
- 7:19guarantee. I would bet.
- 7:22I'd bet a peanut butter sandwich that, because I love peanut
- 7:26butter sandwiches. I would bet you that there's no
- 7:29computer issue without a human element.
- 7:32There's someone behind it who's just had a bit of a brain
- 7:36explosion. There's a human element, but yet
- 7:40it's blamed on computer issues because in this day and age, we
- 7:43just actually, Kim QPS have done this for a long time.
- 7:46It's a computer issue. I remember when I was back, even
- 7:49at in GDS, you would hear this is a computer issue.
- 7:52We'll go. Someone had to be pressing the
- 7:54buttons. The computer's not just
- 7:56operating by itself and saying, well, let's just do this.
- 7:59There was a human element there. Someone's there, hit and send.
- 8:03Someone's there saying, oh, let's add this person in.
- 8:05Someone's there saying this is a good idea without thinking, but
- 8:11QPS don't like to reveal the human elements if it reflects
- 8:16too badly on them unless there's something good that unless they
- 8:19see the benefit for themselves. And that's what happened with
- 8:22the mandates they thought they were on the right side of, they
- 8:26would be on the right side of jar of history.
- 8:29And now Mark Ryan, worst police minister ever in the history of
- 8:32Queensland, is still here. Now it's looking bad for me
- 8:36anyway. Police allegedly later organised
- 8:39for CCTV cameras to be installed at her house.
- 8:41Because that will help. That's the kind of rubbish that
- 8:45people do. Keep going, Jason.
- 8:49A letter to the victim from the Police Minister's office Police
- 8:53Minister's Office Crikey showed the matter had been referred to
- 8:56the corruption watchdog. The Opposition Victim Support
- 9:00spokesperson Laura Gerber claimed the office office of the
- 9:05Police Minister Mark Ryan, worst police minister ever in the
- 9:08history of Queensland, organised for the CCTV to be set up at the
- 9:12victim's house. That's, you know, that's not so
- 9:14we can actually help and organise.
- 9:16Let's not put security outside the house.
- 9:18Let's just have CCTV set up at the house so we can document the
- 9:22crime if and when it actually happened.
- 9:24So at least then we've got the evidence to say, Oh yeah, it
- 9:26happened. So in the referred to the matter
- 9:30to the Crime and Corruption Commission, helpful.
- 9:33The Labour government said it first heard about the data
- 9:36breach after a media inquiry in July.
- 9:39Data breach where someone, someone pressed the button said
- 9:44this is a good idea, let's send it.
- 9:46But the Liberal National Party opposition accused the
- 9:48government of knowing about it for months.
- 9:50It said the victim, who claimed police told her to relocate
- 9:53before installing CCTV, had contacted Ryan on multiple
- 9:56occasions between March and May. Multiple occasions.
- 10:00Worst police op minister ever knew about it for months, Didn't
- 10:05act. I feel completely defeated,
- 10:07broken, scarred and worried, her email email said to the police
- 10:10to the minister. But Ryan said every complaint
- 10:14that came through his office was referred to police.
- 10:17It's not correct to say that matters weren't acted upon
- 10:19because every matter follows very rigorous, comprehensive and
- 10:24serious process. Oh, said the worst police
- 10:29minister in Queensland's history, Mark Ryan, the man who
- 10:33said when, you know, he screwed over him and former police
- 10:37Commissioner Katarina Carroll just screwed over all those
- 10:41police that didn't agree with the mandate.
- 10:43They said he said, hey, just get new ones because he's got no
- 10:48flippant idea on what it takes to recruit and train good
- 10:53police. No idea, No idea yet.
- 11:00Yet another example of the QLD governments of the Queensland
- 11:04Police, of the Minister or Queensland Police Service
- 11:09failing leadership in this nation, in this state, in our
- 11:14Queensland Police Service consistently continues to fail
- 11:18the community that they're supposed to serve.
- 11:21And we've got what's your tongue Jay?
- 11:25We've got people like the Honourable Mark Ryan supposedly
- 11:33serving this community. Please vote him out.
- 11:40Deplorable. Worst police minister ever, ever
- 11:46in the history of this state. That is just my opinion.
- 11:55I am Jay Fallon and you've been listening to The Slippery Slope.
- 12:02And say it isn't we.
