- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, good afternoon, listeners. Thank you so much for listening
- 0:03Speaker 1: to Lament of Hope podcast. As you guys know, we
- 0:07Speaker 1: are nearing our 300th episode, which is amazing. And so
- 0:12Speaker 1: many people from around the world with different struggles and stories.
- 0:16Speaker 1: And it's all because of you guys and your support.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So I'm super grateful. I feel like I have to
- 0:21Speaker 1: say that every time I start because I just it
- 0:23Speaker 1: always blows me away when I think about it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: No, if I'm at rest, I'm usually fine today, even
- 0:30Speaker 2: though I'm in bed. Just because of last night, I've
- 0:33Speaker 2: got the extra oxygen on. But normally, if I'm moving around,
- 0:41Speaker 2: that's when my oxygen saturation drops. So I have it
- 0:46Speaker 2: when I'm real active. Normally, when I'm in bed, unless
- 0:50Speaker 2: I've got some sort of infection, or like I said,
- 0:52Speaker 2: if I'm masquerading or anything like that, then... I can
- 0:55Speaker 2: usually have it off while I'm in bed.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Are you in bed a lot, you think, if you
- 1:02Speaker 1: had to think about it?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I was very lucky that a couple of years
- 1:10Speaker 2: ago I was able to get a job and I
- 1:13Speaker 2: can work from home now. So I'm able to still
- 1:19Speaker 2: do that while in bed and having some things. kind
- 1:22Speaker 2: of productive to keep me busy when I'm not up
- 1:26Speaker 2: and about. But it's up and down. There are some
- 1:31Speaker 2: times where I feel like I'm fairly active and I
- 1:35Speaker 2: get out and do things and my husband and I
- 1:38Speaker 2: like to get out into nature and just go on
- 1:42Speaker 2: walks and it's, you know, wonderful and beautiful. And then
- 1:45Speaker 2: there's other times where I just, I can't, my body
- 1:48Speaker 2: just doesn't let me. Yeah. So it's, it's a roller
- 1:52Speaker 2: coaster and you kind of never know what the day
- 1:56Speaker 2: is going to bring it. It switches sometimes like the
- 1:59Speaker 2: flick of a light where I'm fine. And then all
- 2:01Speaker 2: of a sudden it's like, Oh, all right, we need
- 2:04Speaker 2: to stop now. And, we always have a wheelchair in
- 2:08Speaker 2: the car. So that happens. My husband just grabs the
- 2:10Speaker 2: wheelchair and we go home.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah. And you know, it's something that I'm, I'm encouraged
- 2:18Speaker 1: by you saying that because so many individuals I've talked
- 2:21Speaker 1: to of chronic illness, one of their number one, especially autoimmune,
- 2:26Speaker 1: one of their number one complaints, if you want to
- 2:28Speaker 1: call it that is that People just think, well, why
- 2:31Speaker 1: are you not on oxygen today? You look fine. Or
- 2:34Speaker 1: why are you wearing makeup today? You look good. Or
- 2:36Speaker 1: why are you walking if you have this problem? You
- 2:39Speaker 1: shouldn't be walking then. But it's so important. And I
- 2:43Speaker 1: think what you said is like it changes with a
- 2:46Speaker 1: flick of a switch. And that's just so important, I think,
- 2:50Speaker 1: to remember because it's so easy to judge quickly when
- 2:54Speaker 1: someone looks great one day and then the other day
- 2:56Speaker 1: you're like, they don't look so great.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah. It's, um, it's really hard. There's a lot of
- 3:05Speaker 2: judgment that happens. I've had people come on and say
- 3:08Speaker 2: some pretty horrible things to me because I was smiling.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And if you're really in pain, you wouldn't be smiling
- 3:13Speaker 2: that much. And it was like, Oh honey, you don't
- 3:16Speaker 2: know what yesterday was like. So I am smiling today
- 3:20Speaker 2: because I am not there right now. And, uh, You know,
- 3:26Speaker 2: bad days make the good days great. And you just
- 3:30Speaker 2: push through. And especially I got sick when I was
- 3:36Speaker 2: really young. Yeah, you were 29, right?
