- 0:00Speaker 1: My brother saw a ghost as a kid, and two
- 0:04Speaker 1: decades later, I know what he actually saw. That and
- 0:08Speaker 1: some really other crazy, creepy Reddit stories. This one's gonna
- 0:12Speaker 1: be crazy. A lot of the stories today are rated NSFW,
- 0:15Speaker 1: which is not safe for work, which means they're gonna
- 0:17Speaker 1: be juicy, which means let's get into it. I was
- 0:19Speaker 1: about seven years old. My brother, about 10. It was
- 0:23Speaker 1: well past our bedtime when our mom woke up off
- 0:26Speaker 1: the couch to put us in bed. Our dad worked
- 0:28Speaker 1: construction out of town back then, so it was often
- 0:31Speaker 1: just the three of us at the house for weeks
- 0:33Speaker 1: at a time. Stairs and to the immediate right was
- 0:35Speaker 1: our parents' bedroom. Going left would put you in the
- 0:38Speaker 1: middle of the hallway. Taking another left down that hallway
- 0:40Speaker 1: led to my brother's room. The opposite end was my room,
- 0:43Speaker 1: which was also across the hall from our upstairs bathroom.
- 0:47Speaker 1: At either end of the hallway are window doors. We
- 0:49Speaker 1: always kept them locked and rarely used. Wait, wait. Right, okay.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The door on my end led to a balcony overlooking
- 0:55Speaker 1: our front yard, and the door on my brother's end
- 0:58Speaker 1: opened to the back porch. It sounds nice. Okay, where
- 1:01Speaker 1: is it getting weird? My brother and mom both had
- 1:03Speaker 1: a habit of waking up in the middle of the
- 1:05Speaker 1: night to use the bathroom. I only knew this because
- 1:07Speaker 1: I was a light sleeper, and they couldn't just help
- 1:09Speaker 1: flushing with the door wide open. Why is that? Have
- 1:12Speaker 1: you ever closed the bathroom door when you go in
- 1:13Speaker 1: the middle of the night? I don't. I'm a little
- 1:15Speaker 1: pee monster. This night, however, my brother stopped on the
- 1:18Speaker 1: way to his room and came back towards the bathroom.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I'm going to try to pee before I go to bed.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The past few nights, I've been afraid to walk to
- 1:25Speaker 1: the bathroom. I keep seeing a man wearing stripes at
- 1:28Speaker 1: the end of the hallway. I don't know if my
- 1:29Speaker 1: mom wrote it off as my brother telling ghost stories
- 1:31Speaker 1: to try to scare me, or if she was already
- 1:33Speaker 1: half asleep and didn't catch it, but she didn't react
- 1:36Speaker 1: at all to my brother's confession. I, on the other hand,
- 1:38Speaker 1: was terrified by it. The fear of seeing a ghost
- 1:41Speaker 1: like that at the end of the hallway or through
- 1:43Speaker 1: the windows is the reason I started running from the
- 1:45Speaker 1: stairs to my bedroom at night. Hallways are so much
- 1:48Speaker 1: scarier when you're a kid. Like, now if I saw
- 1:50Speaker 1: a ghost, I'd be like, Don't wake me up, don't
- 1:52Speaker 1: touch me. Okay. Years later, when I was about 18,
- 1:55Speaker 1: my mom and I were having a conversation in her
- 1:57Speaker 1: car about a dog we had for a very short
- 2:00Speaker 1: time when I was little. We were sharing stories about
- 2:02Speaker 1: Max's tendencies towards destroying my shoes and other unruly behaviors.
- 2:06Speaker 1: When my mom blurted out, do you remember that time
- 2:09Speaker 1: I opened the front door for the cops and Max
- 2:12Speaker 1: ran inside to the kitchen and started tearing open that
- 2:14Speaker 1: big bag of dog food we had? This really caught
- 2:16Speaker 1: me by surprise because in all the years I lived
- 2:18Speaker 1: in that house, we never once called the cops. no
- 2:21Speaker 1: more family in quiet rural neighborhood etc yeah those people
- 2:24Speaker 1: don't call the cops they do first ask questions later
- 2:26Speaker 1: lots of land they hide the body anyways i asked
- 2:29Speaker 1: her what she was talking about and she looked equally
- 2:31Speaker 1: surprised as if she had just revealed something on accident
- 2:34Speaker 1: oh that's right i never told you because you were
- 2:36Speaker 1: so young at the time one night i woke up
- 2:39Speaker 1: hearing noises outside my window and when i looked i
- 2:41Speaker 1: saw a man staring into my bedroom she went on
- 2:44Speaker 1: to describe turning on the lights which caused him to
- 2:47Speaker 1: take off running and how she grabbed my dad's piss
- 2:49Speaker 1: before calling the cops. I can't remember all the details
- 2:53Speaker 1: I gave them when they showed up, but it was
- 2:54Speaker 1: a tall white man wearing a striped shirt jeans and
- 2:58Speaker 1: short dark hair. Something like that. They matched the description
- 3:02Speaker 1: of a man that they were looking for in the area.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It turns out he had escaped from jail on a
- 3:06Speaker 1: murder charge. Now it sounds so obvious hearing those stories
- 3:09Speaker 1: back to back, but it wasn't until years ago in
- 3:12Speaker 1: my mid twenties that I pieced together that my brother
- 3:14Speaker 1: had unknowingly warned us about a murderer who had spent
- 3:17Speaker 1: multiple nights casing our home. Oh my God. Okay. That's crazy.
- 3:22Speaker 1: That's intense. Mom just didn't do anything. Mom didn't even notice. Crazy. Okay, comments. Wait,
- 3:28Speaker 1: was he in your house? Because your brother said he
- 3:31Speaker 1: was at the end of the hallway, not in the window.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I guess in the dark. No, you know if he was...
- 3:37Speaker 1: And then someone said, he just said at the end
- 3:39Speaker 1: of the hallway where OP noted there was a window.
- 3:41Speaker 1: They were young too, so maybe in the dark it
- 3:43Speaker 1: could have looked like he was in there. The other
- 3:45Speaker 1: one said, bloody hell, we were all sure mom was
- 3:47Speaker 1: having an affair. Nice writing there, but holy hell, how terrifying.
- 3:50Speaker 1: It's probably lucky your mom saw him though. The cop
- 3:52Speaker 1: was coming around, must have scared him off for good,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I hope. Was he ever caught? That's nuts. That is creepy, dude.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Next up, a creepy encounter with a woman on the highway.
- 4:05Speaker 1: About six years ago, I was with my friend Tom
- 4:07Speaker 1: at my parents' cabin. We decided to head off to
- 4:09Speaker 1: a casino located on an Ojibwe reserve about 40 minutes away.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The entire stretch of the highway between is heavily forested
- 4:17Speaker 1: and has no lights, meaning it can get increasingly Incredibly dark.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We got there and played some poker, tried a few
- 4:23Speaker 1: table games, and grabbed some dinner with our winnings. Pretty
- 4:26Speaker 1: successful night overall for both of us. We ended up
- 4:28Speaker 1: leaving the casino around 1 a.m. a little later than
- 4:31Speaker 1: I would have liked given the lack of any street light.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Is this like near me? It feels near me. We
- 4:36Speaker 1: drive for about 20 minutes on the highway without passing
- 4:39Speaker 1: any other vehicles when I noticed two green orbs just
- 4:42Speaker 1: off the highway before a hill. Orbs? Like eyes? Like lights?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Like ghosts? On a hill. Realizing it was a deer,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I slammed on the brakes and waited. Several deer crossed,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and then I resumed driving. The car was going slowly
- 4:55Speaker 1: up the hill because it was starting to stop. As
- 4:57Speaker 1: soon as we made the crest of the hill, Tom screamed,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Holy shit! Right in front of us was a young
- 5:02Speaker 1: woman walking in the middle of our lane towards us,
- 5:05Speaker 1: no more than maybe 30... 30 feet away? Okay, that's
- 5:08Speaker 1: gonna come up fast. I slam on the brakes again
- 5:10Speaker 1: and come within 10 feet of her. Thankfully, slowing down
- 5:13Speaker 1: earlier and climbing the hill meant we weren't going as
- 5:15Speaker 1: fast as it was going through my mind, and it
- 5:17Speaker 1: wasn't the fact that I almost ran over someone, but
- 5:19Speaker 1: this young woman with pitch black hair, I can just
- 5:22Speaker 1: already see her grasping like, oh, it's Selena, was wearing
- 5:25Speaker 1: a white nightgown with no shoes and was still walking
- 5:28Speaker 1: towards us with a blatant expressionless face. Not going to lie,
- 5:31Speaker 1: that image frightened me because it looked like something straight
- 5:33Speaker 1: out of a horror movie. Oh, Guys, I live really
- 5:35Speaker 1: close to the highway. Did I sleep well? Is this me?
- 5:38Speaker 1: I totally could have made it over there. Tom and
- 5:40Speaker 1: I waited to see if she was going to pull
- 5:42Speaker 1: up to our window and maybe ask for help or something.
- 5:44Speaker 1: She made it to the front of my car and
- 5:47Speaker 1: went around to the driver's side. She didn't stop, but
- 5:49Speaker 1: she raised her hand and dragged it across the side
- 5:52Speaker 1: of my car while continuing her walk. At this point,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Tom and I were both freaked out. I asked Tom
- 5:57Speaker 1: what we'd do, and he said that we should just
- 5:58Speaker 1: get out of here. For whatever reason, I just didn't
- 6:01Speaker 1: feel right about leaving and not asking if she was alright.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I looked in the rearview mirror and saw that she
- 6:05Speaker 1: was still walking. Having almost hit her and knowing that
- 6:08Speaker 1: something wasn't right, I decided to do something. I told
- 6:11Speaker 1: Tom I was going to ask if she was alright.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Tom pleaded that we just get out of there. I
- 6:16Speaker 1: put on some bravado. and I told him not to
- 6:18Speaker 1: worry and I would be right back. I put on
- 6:20Speaker 1: my blinkers and stepped out of my car. I left
- 6:22Speaker 1: my door open to provide some light and walked around
- 6:24Speaker 1: to the trunk of my car. My interior lights didn't
- 6:27Speaker 1: do much, but my blinker allowed me to see an
- 6:29Speaker 1: outline of her slightly down the hill, only able to
- 6:31Speaker 1: see her every other second. Oh, that's a horror movie.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I need to remember that. That's spooky. I half yelled,
- 6:37Speaker 1: are you all right? She finally stopped walking, but still
- 6:39Speaker 1: faced the other way. There was no response. This sounds
- 6:41Speaker 1: like a sleepwalker. i heard tom's door open as he
- 6:44Speaker 1: was getting out to join me suddenly she started screaming
- 6:47Speaker 1: tom and i ran back to my car and just
- 6:48Speaker 1: floored it i got a lot of from tom for
- 6:50Speaker 1: the remainder of the ride back to my cabin and
- 6:52Speaker 1: i haven't heard or seen anything like that on the
- 6:54Speaker 1: highway since and i'm pretty thankful for it that was
- 6:56Speaker 1: the creepiest moment of my life why do i know
- 6:59Speaker 1: this is a sleepwalker or is it a ghost or
- 7:02Speaker 1: was it me oh my god okay we have to
- 7:03Speaker 1: read the comments could you imagine Oh! Where was this?
- 7:09Speaker 1: I wear nightgowns. Everyone's saying sleepwalker. Wait, how did they
- 7:13Speaker 1: describe her again? They didn't say on top of her head.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I sleep with her on top of my head, so
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's definitely not me. Or is it? A day of
- 7:21Speaker 1: play leads to kidnapping. Okay. This is coming from Cheezerice1966.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I have stalked this sub for a while, but I
- 7:31Speaker 1: couldn't decide whether or not to post mine, but I'm
- 7:33Speaker 1: feeling brave on a Monday. It was a long time ago,
- 7:35Speaker 1: back in 1973. I know, it was summer, I was six.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We were living on Monica Lane in Madison, Wisconsin. Thing is,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I sort of recalled, but never put two and two
- 7:45Speaker 1: together until a few months ago when I was talking
- 7:47Speaker 1: to my mom, who went into great detail. I was
- 7:50Speaker 1: a very gregarious child. Outgoing. Extroverted. Same. Friends with anyone.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It was at this time a middle-class neighborhood. There were
- 7:57Speaker 1: three houses down from ours, and it was on the
- 7:59Speaker 1: same side of the street. was a huge park my
- 8:01Speaker 1: mom was a nurse my dad was a salesman but
- 8:03Speaker 1: mom worked second shift at a meritor meritor but my
- 8:06Speaker 1: dad worked days i rarely had a babysitter only if
- 8:09Speaker 1: they went out for dinner or a movie but they
- 8:11Speaker 1: did go out often so there were always older kids
- 8:13Speaker 1: in the neighborhood who would hang around and babysit one
- 8:16Speaker 1: sitter who i really liked lived a few blocks away
- 8:18Speaker 1: and down the street a little bit vicky had babysat
- 8:20Speaker 1: a few times before and it was pretty uneventful she'd
- 8:23Speaker 1: play games with me do my hair play dress up
- 8:25Speaker 1: pretty basic stuff all right that sounds like a good
- 8:27Speaker 1: time Man, I wish I had babysitters for grown-ups. Like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: can you play with my hair? Do you want to
- 8:33Speaker 1: play house? Okay, that's weird. Selena, don't be so freaking weird. So, anywho,
- 8:36Speaker 1: one day I had gone with friends down to the park.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I remember there being a ball field at the time
- 8:42Speaker 1: and a sandlot next to the field. My friends wanted
- 8:44Speaker 1: to play on the monkey bars, but I wanted to
- 8:46Speaker 1: stay in the sand. I looked at the sandbox and
- 8:48Speaker 1: at my babysitter. Vicky was standing there. I told my
- 8:51Speaker 1: friends I was going down to the sandbox and ran off.
- 8:54Speaker 1: We played in the sand, building a sandcastle, when she
- 8:57Speaker 1: asked me if I wanted to go get something cold
- 8:59Speaker 1: to drink. I was stifling hot, so of course I
- 9:01Speaker 1: said yes. So she takes my hand and we start
- 9:03Speaker 1: walking to her place. She starts telling me about her
- 9:06Speaker 1: puppies and asking if I want to play with them.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Of course I get giddy and now I can't wait
- 9:10Speaker 1: to get to her house. This is where my memory
- 9:12Speaker 1: stopped after my mom told me what happened. The rest
- 9:15Speaker 1: of it flooded back. My mother just happened to be
- 9:17Speaker 1: talking to my sister and I about some places we lived,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and when we got to Monica Lane, I told her
- 9:23Speaker 1: I remembered the park and how big it seemed, and
- 9:25Speaker 1: she asked me if I remembered being kidnapped. Excuse me?
- 9:30Speaker 1: I immediately thought she was kidding, but the look on
- 9:32Speaker 1: her face told me otherwise. She said it was around
- 9:34Speaker 1: five in the afternoon, and one of my friends had
- 9:37Speaker 1: come to the door to ask for me to come
- 9:39Speaker 1: back outside. Sure that I had gotten bored and walked
- 9:42Speaker 1: back home, when my mom checked the house, she realized
- 9:43Speaker 1: that I was not there. She was seven months pregnant
- 9:46Speaker 1: with my sister. She sprints to the park, screaming my name.
- 9:49Speaker 1: After asking several kids if they had seen me with
- 9:51Speaker 1: no clue, she then went to the ball field and
- 9:53Speaker 1: asked the older boys if they had seen me. One
- 9:56Speaker 1: of the boys, she guessed around 14, had said that
- 9:58Speaker 1: he'd seen a younger woman playing with the girl that
- 10:01Speaker 1: fit my description. In the sand, and walked off in
- 10:04Speaker 1: a general direction, and that's all that he knew. My
- 10:06Speaker 1: mom ran across the street to one of the houses
- 10:09Speaker 1: and asked to use their phone to call the police.
- 10:11Speaker 1: By the time the police got there, my dad had
- 10:13Speaker 1: come home, and some of the neighbors were trying to
- 10:15Speaker 1: help my mom. I literally cannot even fathom the panic.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I remember I was at the mall a couple months ago,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and I saw a baby run out of a store
- 10:20Speaker 1: like a toddler, and nobody was chasing the baby, and
- 10:23Speaker 1: I was like... And I was like, one, two, three,
- 10:25Speaker 1: because I'm a mom now. I'm ready to go chase
- 10:27Speaker 1: this baby down. But it was like one, two, three.
- 10:29Speaker 1: And then a mom just comes running out. She's like, Betty!
- 10:31Speaker 1: And she found him, thank God. But like my stomach
- 10:33Speaker 1: like curled into a ball and then fell out my ass.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It fell out my asshole. So there's a search party
- 10:39Speaker 1: out looking for me, screaming my name and knocking on doors.
- 10:42Speaker 1: The police had gone back to the park to ask
- 10:44Speaker 1: the boys if they knew who had been with me
- 10:46Speaker 1: and if they knew who she was. Between the boys
- 10:48Speaker 1: and the neighbors, they had deduced. Deduced? Is that right?
- 10:52Speaker 1: Because that sounds like a double T. I'm sorry. Who
- 10:53Speaker 1: it was and that it had led me off, but
- 10:55Speaker 1: I have no idea, honestly. The police and the entourage
- 10:58Speaker 1: go to her home. She lived with her parents and
- 11:01Speaker 1: weren't home. And they knock on the door. She came
- 11:03Speaker 1: to the door and told them that she hadn't seen
- 11:04Speaker 1: me and that she had been home all day. The
- 11:07Speaker 1: police asked to come in and for some reason she
- 11:09Speaker 1: said okay. They went through the house and went to
- 11:11Speaker 1: the basement and found me. That's what my mom knew
- 11:14Speaker 1: and then I remembered. It was literally like a floodgate
- 11:16Speaker 1: that had opened and I started crying. At six, you
- 11:19Speaker 1: sort of trust everyone and she'd been in our home.
- 11:22Speaker 1: So this is her old babysitter. I never got a
- 11:24Speaker 1: bad feeling from her and my parents didn't either. But
- 11:26Speaker 1: when we walked to her house, I remember a cold,
- 11:28Speaker 1: holy eff feeling washing over me and getting very worried.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I remember starting to cry and saying I wanted to
- 11:33Speaker 1: go home over and over. She takes me into the
- 11:35Speaker 1: kitchen and gets me a glass of water and a tissue.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I hear dogs barking and next to the kitchen is
- 11:40Speaker 1: an open stairway. that goes down to where the dogs
- 11:42Speaker 1: are barking she starts trying to control me to go
- 11:44Speaker 1: downstairs telling me there's that there's tons of toys and
- 11:47Speaker 1: games i reluctantly agree and she grabs my hand to
- 11:50Speaker 1: head down the stairs the dogs are going nuttier and
- 11:52Speaker 1: i start screaming at this point vicky is getting bizarre
- 11:55Speaker 1: she's screaming at me to shut up and if you
- 11:57Speaker 1: don't shut up i will throw you in the cage
- 11:59Speaker 1: of the dogs and they will eat you dragging me
- 12:01Speaker 1: down the stairs as i'm still screaming i was scared
- 12:03Speaker 1: out of my mind i remember crying so hard i
- 12:05Speaker 1: was hyperventilating And I was screaming so hard I wasn't
- 12:08Speaker 1: even making sounds. Vicky then flips a switch and starts
- 12:11Speaker 1: being syrupy sweet, trying to calm me down. She tells
- 12:14Speaker 1: me that she was just playing a game and then
- 12:16Speaker 1: asked me if I wanted to play hide and seek.
- 12:18Speaker 1: She must have been relatively skilled at calming me down
- 12:20Speaker 1: because next thing I know, I hear knocking on the
- 12:22Speaker 1: door upstairs and I wasn't crying. These houses were all
- 12:25Speaker 1: the same sort of tract houses that Sears used to sell.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Sears used to sell houses? Not huge, but not small.
- 12:31Speaker 1: But you could hear everything in every spot of the house. Wow, Sears.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And now Sears is gone. Rip. I like all those
- 12:36Speaker 1: big stores. Just big empty Sears stores. I kept hearing
- 12:38Speaker 1: knocking and she tells me that it's her friends and
- 12:40Speaker 1: that they're coming to play hide and seek. She convinced
- 12:42Speaker 1: me to let her put a piece of masking tape
- 12:44Speaker 1: over my mouth so I wouldn't make a sound. and
- 12:46Speaker 1: lifted me into this big wooden box next to a kennel.
- 12:49Speaker 1: She put a big pile of blankets over me and
- 12:51Speaker 1: told me to be really quiet so they didn't find me.
- 12:53Speaker 1: The whole time the dogs were going batshit, when she
- 12:55Speaker 1: calmed me down, they calmed down too. They still looked
- 12:58Speaker 1: incredibly mean, but they were no longer frothing from the
- 13:00Speaker 1: mouth or growling until the knocking started. I remember scrunching
- 13:05Speaker 1: in there, confused. Skill scared and convinced the dogs were
- 13:08Speaker 1: going to get out and eat me. I was crying
- 13:10Speaker 1: again and hyperventilating, remembering taking the tape off my mouth
- 13:13Speaker 1: because I couldn't breathe. But I remembered I needed to
- 13:15Speaker 1: be quiet because I was afraid what she would do
- 13:17Speaker 1: if I screamed. I laid in that smelly bag next
- 13:20Speaker 1: to a bag of dog food, sweating, tears rolling down
- 13:23Speaker 1: my face. I sort of pushed the blankets to the side,
- 13:25Speaker 1: just enough that I could pull them over me when
- 13:27Speaker 1: somebody came. I recall thinking about my dad and wondering
- 13:30Speaker 1: if he would come find me. All of a sudden,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I hear what sounds like adults yelling my name. They
- 13:34Speaker 1: come down the stairs and the dog's going crazy again.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Over them are men yelling my name. And then I
- 13:39Speaker 1: hear a man say, if you don't shut those dogs up,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I will. I was in a large storage box, like
- 13:44Speaker 1: a big carpenter's toolbox type of thing, with tape hanging
- 13:47Speaker 1: off my mouth when they opened the lid. I remember
- 13:49Speaker 1: a very nice man asking my name and asking if
- 13:52Speaker 1: I was okay. I don't remember answering him or anything
- 13:55Speaker 1: other than screams and tears and grabbing his neck so
- 13:57Speaker 1: hard that my dad had to practically pry me off him.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I remember my parents taking me to the hospital to
- 14:02Speaker 1: get checked out, but that's all I really remember. My
- 14:04Speaker 1: mom said that Vicky was found guilty of attempted kidnapping. Attempted?
- 14:08Speaker 1: You done been napped! I hope she's still in there.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And the last I knew, she was in prison, but
- 14:12Speaker 1: I couldn't remember when was the last time she had
- 14:14Speaker 1: heard anything. We moved out of the area shortly thereafter,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and I haven't been back since. I do know that
- 14:19Speaker 1: my mom said that her parents were odd, but she
- 14:21Speaker 1: didn't know them. She had met Vicky from a neighbor
- 14:24Speaker 1: who had used her as a babysitter- and had never
- 14:26Speaker 1: heard anything bad and that the kids always seemed happy
- 14:28Speaker 1: with her. My mom and dad had only met her
- 14:31Speaker 1: parents when they came to the door to ask for forgiveness.
- 14:33Speaker 1: That Vicky hadn't meant anything bad and was a good girl.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Mom said that my dad picked up her dad by
- 14:38Speaker 1: the shirt and told him that if he ever came
- 14:40Speaker 1: on the property again, he would yeet him. Whoa! So
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's like one of those things. First, those parents shouldn't
- 14:45Speaker 1: have showed up. They should have showed up, yes, to
- 14:47Speaker 1: say sorry, but not to say that she was a
- 14:48Speaker 1: good kid. Obviously, the things that happened are absolutely insane.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And that is something to never be forgiven. Those people
- 14:54Speaker 1: are not right in the head. Not right. This one
- 14:55Speaker 1: is titled, The One Who Got Away From The Railroad Killer.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Now this is coming from Whitney Cat. Okay, I'm glad
- 15:02Speaker 1: you got away, baby. Let's talk about it. I was 19,
- 15:05Speaker 1: staying late at the college darkroom to develop some film
- 15:08Speaker 1: for my photography class. The photography building was dark, rickety,
- 15:11Speaker 1: a big hulk, near some lonely railroad tracks in a
- 15:14Speaker 1: little less traveled part of campus. I finished developing my
- 15:17Speaker 1: film close to midnight and I headed out. Nervous as
- 15:20Speaker 1: always to be alone out at night in this deserted
- 15:22Speaker 1: part of town. It was dark. Several of the streetlights
- 15:25Speaker 1: around the parking lot were out, and the few that
- 15:27Speaker 1: were left were also dim, putting out a weak, flickery
- 15:30Speaker 1: light that did nothing to reassure me as I headed
- 15:32Speaker 1: towards my car. I heard him before I saw him.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Scrape of feet on asphalt. He said,' Hey, can you
- 15:37Speaker 1: do me a favor?' I startled and dropped my keys.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He mumbled an apology for scaring me, and I noticed
- 15:42Speaker 1: he was wearing a jogging suit and limping.' What do
- 15:45Speaker 1: you need?' I said. He hobbled a step or two
- 15:47Speaker 1: towards me. I think I sprained my ankle. Could you
- 15:50Speaker 1: take me to the ER? The university hallway is a
- 15:52Speaker 1: short distance down the road. I hesitated. The guy looked
- 15:55Speaker 1: perfectly pleasant, but I'd recently finished a book about, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 1: serial killer Ted Bundy, who lured some of his victims
- 16:01Speaker 1: by pretending to have a broken arm and asking them
- 16:03Speaker 1: to help carry books to his car. When they leaned
- 16:05Speaker 1: over to put his stuff in the passenger seat of
- 16:07Speaker 1: his Volkswagen Bug, he knocked them unconscious with a crowbar
- 16:10Speaker 1: and stuffed them inside. The scene played across my mind
- 16:13Speaker 1: as I looked at the guy. It also occurred to
- 16:15Speaker 1: me to wonder why the hell anyone would jog in
- 16:18Speaker 1: this creepy part of town. Yeah, do you have the
- 16:20Speaker 1: no danger thing in your brain like me? Chris and
- 16:22Speaker 1: Adam get so stressed about that. I'm sorry, I can't
- 16:24Speaker 1: do that, but I can call someone for you. There's
- 16:26Speaker 1: a phone in the photography building there. There's nobody to call.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I just moved here. I don't really know anybody. Could
- 16:32Speaker 1: you just drive me? It's right down Limestone Avenue. He
- 16:34Speaker 1: leans against the car and wins as he reached down
- 16:36Speaker 1: to rub his ankle. I'll call you an ambulance, I offered.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I like you. You're like, wee-woo, wee-woo, wee-woo. He said, no,
- 16:42Speaker 1: I can't afford that. I don't have health insurance. Can
- 16:44Speaker 1: you just drive me? I'll pay you 20 bucks. There
- 16:46Speaker 1: was something in the way that he said this last bit.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Something wrong. Like an exercise in my acting class when
- 16:52Speaker 1: we had to recite Mary Had a Little Lamb. As
- 16:54Speaker 1: though we were delivering a tragic monologue or... furious rants.
- 16:57Speaker 1: There was a tone rising up that didn't quite match
- 16:59Speaker 1: the words he was saying. A raw urgency that reached
- 17:02Speaker 1: down inside me that hit the panic button hard. There
- 17:05Speaker 1: was a moment of silence between us. I can't help you,
- 17:07Speaker 1: I said. I'm leaving. I grabbed my keys, slipping them
- 17:10Speaker 1: between my fingers the way my mom had taught me
- 17:12Speaker 1: so I could use them as a weapon if he
- 17:13Speaker 1: came at me. i kept my eyes on him as
- 17:15Speaker 1: i sped walk out of there a few feet to
- 17:17Speaker 1: my car he watched me drive away still leaning against
- 17:19Speaker 1: the car a flat expression on his face away from
- 17:22Speaker 1: the dark parking lot driving through campus with my music
- 17:24Speaker 1: turned up the fear faded i started to feel a
- 17:26Speaker 1: little guilty for leaving him there although i know that
- 17:29Speaker 1: i'd done what my mom and dad would have wanted
- 17:31Speaker 1: me to do I was about to turn into my
- 17:33Speaker 1: dorm parking lot when I realized I needed to pick
- 17:34Speaker 1: up some stuff for breakfast the next morning. So I
- 17:36Speaker 1: turned around and headed back to the direction I'd come.
- 17:39Speaker 1: About a minute down that road, my stomach clenched up.
- 17:41Speaker 1: There was the guy in the jogging suit, running along
- 17:44Speaker 1: the sidewalk. His ankle was perfectly fine. Later that summer,
- 17:49Speaker 1: two students at my college were attacked by those same
- 17:52Speaker 1: railroad tracks. The girl survived, but the boyfriend died. The
- 17:55Speaker 1: man who attacked them was a serial killer. dubbed the
- 17:58Speaker 1: railroad by police. He murdered dozens of people across several states,
- 18:02Speaker 1: most of them near railroad tracks. I didn't see his
- 18:05Speaker 1: mugshot on TV until years later, but the picture broke
- 18:08Speaker 1: me out in the same icy sweat I had felt
- 18:11Speaker 1: when I saw that guy running down the street. I
- 18:13Speaker 1: can't be 100% positive, but my gut tells me I
- 18:16Speaker 1: escaped a serial killer that night. Oh, I got goosey!
- 18:21Speaker 1: I got goosey bombs. I got them. Ooh, damn. Oh, damn. No,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I hate that. Now, after that, why wouldn't we just
- 18:29Speaker 1: talk about another creepy encounter in a parking lot? Why
- 18:31Speaker 1: are parking lots so scary? Why, when they're desolate and
- 18:34Speaker 1: those lights are just standing around by themselves, why do
- 18:36Speaker 1: they become the scariest places I've ever seen in my life?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Tell me. I don't know. Let's get into it. This
- 18:39Speaker 1: is from Southern underscore Lady, and it says, Creepy encounter
- 18:42Speaker 1: I had in a parking lot. A few years ago,
- 18:45Speaker 1: it was Friday, and I was off work at lunchtime,
- 18:47Speaker 1: so I was looking forward to the weekend. I commute
- 18:49Speaker 1: 40 miles to work. And I did not feel like
- 18:51Speaker 1: waiting to go home to have lunch. So I decided
- 18:54Speaker 1: to go to a chain grocery and get a sandwich.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And since it was a beautiful autumn day, sunny, but
- 18:58Speaker 1: the air was crisp and cool, I was going to
- 19:00Speaker 1: go sit in my car, eat my sandwich. drink my coke,
- 19:03Speaker 1: and enjoy a book I had purchased recently. Oh damn,
- 19:06Speaker 1: that sounds crispy. That sounds good. That sounds like a
- 19:08Speaker 1: good day. I parked at the back of the parking lot,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and after getting my food and returning to my car,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I opened my car door. Because the sun was shining in,
- 19:16Speaker 1: even though it was cool outside, it was a little
- 19:18Speaker 1: hot inside the car. I was not too concerned or
- 19:20Speaker 1: worried about anyone bothering me, since this city has a
- 19:23Speaker 1: low crime rate, and this grocery store was in a
- 19:25Speaker 1: good neighborhood. But I still would frequently look in my
- 19:28Speaker 1: mirrors and kind of glance around just to be on
- 19:31Speaker 1: the safe side. I had just done a quick scan
- 19:33Speaker 1: around the parking lot and didn't see anyone. And upon
- 19:36Speaker 1: returning my attention to my book, I heard a male
- 19:38Speaker 1: voice say, excuse me, miss. I looked up and there
- 19:41Speaker 1: was a guy standing there. He was standing at the
- 19:43Speaker 1: end of my open car door and gave me a
- 19:45Speaker 1: weird vibe because I had just said I scanned the
- 19:47Speaker 1: parking lot and I had not seen anyone. My first
- 19:50Speaker 1: assumption was that he was homeless and I was expecting
- 19:53Speaker 1: him to ask for some spare change. Anyway, this guy
- 19:56Speaker 1: was pretty big, chubby, but muscular too. He looked like
- 19:59Speaker 1: he would be on a football team. He was probably
- 20:01Speaker 1: just under six foot, 20 something, blonde hair to his shoulders,
- 20:03Speaker 1: looked a little scruffy and unkempt. He wore a backpack
- 20:07Speaker 1: and he said to the words of this effect, my
- 20:09Speaker 1: father just died in Kentucky. Someone told me that there's
- 20:12Speaker 1: a rescue mission over on Tennessee Street and that they
- 20:15Speaker 1: buy me a bus ticket to get home. Just to clarify,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I'm in Florida and the city was named after, oh,
- 20:21Speaker 1: the city streets. are named after states. Okay. I assumed
- 20:24Speaker 1: he was asking me for directions, so I replied that
- 20:27Speaker 1: Tennessee Street was only half a mile over. I then
- 20:29Speaker 1: pointed that way and gave him directions and explained that
- 20:32Speaker 1: I was not really familiar with the area. I didn't
- 20:34Speaker 1: know where the actual place was, but for the street,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I did know. I assumed that then he would leave,
- 20:39Speaker 1: but he didn't. He repeated the same spiel again about
- 20:42Speaker 1: how his father died, a free bus ticket, rescue mission, etc.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And I found myself repeating the directions once again. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: was unfamiliar with the area. I have a ghost experience. Like,
- 20:50Speaker 1: this is crazy. I had someone ask me for directions
- 20:52Speaker 1: on the Pinnock Trail three times in a row. And
- 20:54Speaker 1: the last time I turned around and pointed where it was,
- 20:56Speaker 1: I turned back to him and he was gone. So...
- 20:58Speaker 1: After our second verbal dance, it began to dawn on
- 21:01Speaker 1: me that he was dropping a major hint that he
- 21:03Speaker 1: wanted me to offer him a ride over to Tennessee Street.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I was not meant to be uncaring, but I don't
- 21:08Speaker 1: give rides to strangers. Well, he repeated himself a third time,
- 21:11Speaker 1: and I found myself repeating the directions for him. I
- 21:14Speaker 1: noticed his jaw tensed, his eyes narrowed, and he began
- 21:17Speaker 1: a threatening stance. He was becoming a little angry and hostile.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I don't like it! I quickly looked around and the
- 21:23Speaker 1: only people in the parking lot was an elderly lady
- 21:25Speaker 1: with a bag boy gathering the grocery carts and there
- 21:28Speaker 1: were both several lanes over and towards the front and
- 21:31Speaker 1: I was towards the back of the parking lot. It
- 21:33Speaker 1: was just me and this guy who was obviously having
- 21:35Speaker 1: a serious problem with me that I was not taking
- 21:37Speaker 1: the bait and offering him a ride. For reference, I'm
- 21:40Speaker 1: a female, 5'4, and 140 pounds. He had some pounds, height,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and muscle on me, and it suddenly dawned on me
- 21:47Speaker 1: for a naive small-town girl self that he could just
- 21:49Speaker 1: shove me over and get in my car with me,
- 21:51Speaker 1: and I would not be able to get away. My
- 21:53Speaker 1: keys were in the bottom of my purse, and my
- 21:54Speaker 1: driver's side door had a broken lock, so staying in
- 21:57Speaker 1: the car or just shutting the door real quick and
- 21:59Speaker 1: leaving was really not an option. Before things could go further,
- 22:02Speaker 1: I made my decision. I was not going to be
- 22:04Speaker 1: trapped in my car. I quickly grabbed my purse, jumped out,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and got on the other side of my car before
- 22:09Speaker 1: he even had time to think about it. And being
- 22:11Speaker 1: the sweet southern girl I am, I turned to face
- 22:14Speaker 1: him and backed away and told him I was sorry
- 22:16Speaker 1: to hear about his father and I wished him well,
- 22:18Speaker 1: but I just remembered something I needed to buy in
- 22:20Speaker 1: the store. I turned around. did not walk, but ran
- 22:23Speaker 1: back to the store. I made sure to come out
- 22:24Speaker 1: when there were plenty of people in the parking lot
- 22:26Speaker 1: and he was not there and I have not seen
- 22:28Speaker 1: him since that day. He did frighten me, but obviously
- 22:31Speaker 1: was not going to go away. Then there was the
- 22:32Speaker 1: issue of this becoming angry with me, which in itself
- 22:35Speaker 1: was scary. The whole time he and I were talking,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I could not understand why he didn't just go ask
- 22:40Speaker 1: someone else for a ride, but he seemed determined that
- 22:43Speaker 1: it was going to be me. Since that day, I've
- 22:44Speaker 1: been a lot more careful and I don't sit in
- 22:46Speaker 1: my car in my parking lot anymore. See, this is
- 22:48Speaker 1: why you have to drive mean cars with dark tint.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I don't care if it's a 2002 Honda Civic. You
- 22:53Speaker 1: black on black on black tint that thing. And then
- 22:55Speaker 1: nobody can see you in there. That's my favorite. Every
- 22:57Speaker 1: car I get, first thing I do, I say, make
- 22:58Speaker 1: those windows almost illegal. Get as close to illegal as
- 23:01Speaker 1: you can. I don't want to talk to anybody. I
- 23:02Speaker 1: don't want anyone to know I'm in here. Comments here.
- 23:04Speaker 1: He was no good. He totally could have walked that
- 23:06Speaker 1: half mile. He didn't need a ride. He insisted on
- 23:08Speaker 1: repeating himself instead of asking for a ride nicely. Normal
- 23:11Speaker 1: people don't get angry with someone when they don't grant
- 23:13Speaker 1: them what they've asked for. That's the thing, like, I've
- 23:15Speaker 1: heard that too, like, you hear that with a lot
- 23:17Speaker 1: of people and it sounds like such a ploy because
- 23:18Speaker 1: he's like, working on your emotions, he's like, oh, my
- 23:20Speaker 1: dad died, she's gonna feel bad for me, she's gonna
- 23:22Speaker 1: give me a ride. No! No! Creepy encounter, get away, bro.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, everyone's running into creepy people. I will
- 23:28Speaker 1: never help a random stranger in the street, no matter
- 23:31Speaker 1: how convincing they are. This is coming from Daily Donut16.
- 23:33Speaker 1: This happened to me back in 2007. I was 9
- 23:36Speaker 1: years old and my brother was 14. my mom had
- 23:38Speaker 1: sent us out of the house with about 30 bucks
- 23:40Speaker 1: to go to a movie and maybe get a bite
- 23:42Speaker 1: to eat afterwards in 2007 30 was enough for you
- 23:46Speaker 1: to go to the movie and get a bite to
- 23:47Speaker 1: eat you know what not if you got snacks at
- 23:50Speaker 1: the movie theater no you wouldn't be able to do
- 23:51Speaker 1: it think about when you were in 2007 could 30
- 23:54Speaker 1: bucks how old are you after watching the movie it
- 23:57Speaker 1: was getting pretty dark and we were ready to go
- 23:59Speaker 1: home but my brother wanted to get something to eat
- 24:00Speaker 1: first so we agreed to walk to mcdonald's which was
- 24:03Speaker 1: only a couple blocks from the movie theater. On our
- 24:05Speaker 1: way there, we stopped and were approached by a man.
- 24:08Speaker 1: He had a friendly smile plastered on his face and
- 24:10Speaker 1: he was holding a child's hand. Okay, not creepy. There
- 24:13Speaker 1: didn't seem to be anything off about this man. He
- 24:15Speaker 1: was average looking and seemed to be nothing more than
- 24:17Speaker 1: a father having a day out with his son. Hey,
- 24:20Speaker 1: do you think you could give my son and I
- 24:21Speaker 1: a hand real quick? He asked. We need help loading
- 24:24Speaker 1: a mattress into the back of our truck. The truck
- 24:26Speaker 1: is just off the road. I'm just literally thinking about
- 24:28Speaker 1: last year. I left like a medical supply store and
- 24:30Speaker 1: I was walking my car and this guy's like, hey,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you're such a spooky boo. And I'm like, yeah. And
- 24:33Speaker 1: we were out front of like this really big creepy warehouse.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's like, I own this warehouse building. It's haunted. Like
- 24:38Speaker 1: upstairs is haunted. Do you want to see it? And
- 24:39Speaker 1: he was like, he's like, I know this person, you know?
- 24:41Speaker 1: And I was like, oh my God. Yeah. He's like,
- 24:42Speaker 1: follow my truck over here. So the garage door goes up.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Truck goes in. I go in. I'm standing there. Puts
- 24:47Speaker 1: the door down. It's pitch black. Then the light turns on.
- 24:49Speaker 1: This man goes, come with me. Come in. We walk
- 24:50Speaker 1: through these warehouse hallways. Scary as fuck. I don't know
- 24:52Speaker 1: this man. I don't know this man. He takes me
- 24:54Speaker 1: up to this big empty room. Totally could be a room.
- 24:57Speaker 1: He's like, this is haunted. This is so cool. Takes
- 24:58Speaker 1: me up onto the roof of the building. He was
- 25:00Speaker 1: the nicest guy. I didn't get murdered, but nothing in
- 25:02Speaker 1: my head was like, wow, I'm alone with this strange
- 25:04Speaker 1: man in this building. You know what it is? It's
- 25:06Speaker 1: like when I see like one person, I'm convinced I
- 25:08Speaker 1: could take them. I'm convinced I could take anybody. If
- 25:10Speaker 1: it's just one-on-one, not only that, I will spend in shit.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And you know what? I was wearing like tights and
- 25:14Speaker 1: the biggest platform shoes. Like I could not run away.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So we said, sorry, but we don't have time. My
- 25:19Speaker 1: brother said it at this time, and I noticed the
- 25:21Speaker 1: little boy. He was about eight years old and looked
- 25:23Speaker 1: abnormally thin. He had a blank expression on his face
- 25:25Speaker 1: and wore clothes that were much too big for him.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I turned my attention back to the man, who was
- 25:28Speaker 1: now mumbling to my brother about how it would only
- 25:31Speaker 1: take a second. My brother kindly declined again. Being the
- 25:33Speaker 1: helpful kid that I was, I joined in with the
- 25:35Speaker 1: man and tried to persuade my brother that we should
- 25:37Speaker 1: help him out. I turned to my brother, who was
- 25:39Speaker 1: now staring down the little boy. My brother had a
- 25:41Speaker 1: disturbed expression on his face as he looked down at
- 25:43Speaker 1: the child. The child stared back, and my brother... blankly.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I didn't understand why my brother had this look on
- 25:48Speaker 1: his face. He grabbed my hand and said, I think
- 25:50Speaker 1: that's my mom over there. Hold me, and we began
- 25:52Speaker 1: walking away from the man. I don't understand what was
- 25:54Speaker 1: going on, but my brother had just lied about our
- 25:56Speaker 1: mom being there. He didn't let go of my hand
- 25:57Speaker 1: and practically dragged me until we were far a distance
- 26:00Speaker 1: away from this man and his son. I looked back
- 26:02Speaker 1: and could still see the man holding his son's hand,
- 26:04Speaker 1: only now he wasn't smiling anymore. He had a look
- 26:06Speaker 1: of fury on his face. as he yanked that little
- 26:08Speaker 1: boy from the arm and they walked away. This is horrible.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I pulled away from my brother's grasp and bombarded him
- 26:13Speaker 1: with questions. He shushed me and pulled his cell phone
- 26:15Speaker 1: out of his pocket. He dialed a number and began
- 26:17Speaker 1: pacing around nervously while talking on the phone. I remember
- 26:19Speaker 1: the police showing up and my mom came soon after.
- 26:22Speaker 1: She took me home and my brother was left with
- 26:23Speaker 1: the police. I asked my mother what was going on,
- 26:25Speaker 1: and she said that the police were just questioning my
- 26:27Speaker 1: brother because the man that he encountered was dangerous. She
- 26:29Speaker 1: had told me that when I went to bed. By
- 26:31Speaker 1: the next morning, I had almost completely forgotten about the incident,
- 26:34Speaker 1: and things went back to normal. It wasn't until a
- 26:36Speaker 1: few days ago that these memories flooded back in my mind,
- 26:38Speaker 1: so I decided to call my now 22-year-old brother to
- 26:41Speaker 1: get some answers. When I brought the ordeal back up
- 26:42Speaker 1: to him, he finally gave me the information I wanted
- 26:45Speaker 1: to know, and I wanted to know everything. I understand
- 26:47Speaker 1: how truly terrifying the encounter was. My brother told me
- 26:50Speaker 1: that while the man was constantly trying to convince us
- 26:52Speaker 1: to come with him, he happened to look a little
- 26:55Speaker 1: Then this expression went back to being completely blank, almost
- 27:03Speaker 1: as if he had never said anything at all. This
- 27:05Speaker 1: is why he had become so freaked out and snatched
- 27:07Speaker 1: me away. When he called the police, they hurried down
- 27:09Speaker 1: and described the man the best they could. They couldn't
- 27:11Speaker 1: do much with the little information that my brother had given,
- 27:13Speaker 1: because we hadn't even seen the car that the man
- 27:15Speaker 1: supposedly had. My brother told me that a few weeks
- 27:18Speaker 1: into the investigation that they had found the little boy
- 27:20Speaker 1: who was with the man dead. His body had been
- 27:22Speaker 1: dumped in the woods and his cause of death was
- 27:24Speaker 1: malnutrition and dehydration. If my brother had gone with the sicko,
- 27:28Speaker 1: we likely would have met the same fate. He obviously
- 27:30Speaker 1: couldn't kidnap both of us on his own as my
- 27:32Speaker 1: brother was a fairly strong fellow. That meant that he
- 27:34Speaker 1: had other partners that were going to help snatch unsuspecting kids. Unfortunately,
- 27:39Speaker 1: they were never able to catch any of these people
- 27:41Speaker 1: that did this. But the man was definitely not his father.
- 27:44Speaker 1: His real parents had already been searching for the missing
- 27:46Speaker 1: son for over a month. The people had managed to
- 27:48Speaker 1: kidnap this poor kid, use him as a puppet to
- 27:51Speaker 1: catch other kids. Every time I think about the boy,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I feel deep pity for him. He was only a
- 27:55Speaker 1: year younger than I at the time, and I can
- 27:57Speaker 1: only imagine how terrible it must have been to starve
- 27:59Speaker 1: to death. This is one of the saddest things I've
- 28:01Speaker 1: ever read, poor kid. That is horrible. I live in
- 28:03Speaker 1: this ignorance bubble because I, my brain will, I can't
- 28:07Speaker 1: do it. I'm the kind of person who's like, sees
- 28:10Speaker 1: a sad dog story and will stay up for three
- 28:11Speaker 1: days and just think about the dog. I just want
- 28:13Speaker 1: to say, and I say this in all my videos,
- 28:15Speaker 1: if you see something, you say something. I have called
- 28:19Speaker 1: the cops about the dumbest shit because I thought it
- 28:21Speaker 1: was something, but one of the times it wasn't. So
- 28:23Speaker 1: I will always call. If I see something, I will
- 28:25Speaker 1: say something. Now here's a creepy encounter someone had while
- 28:28Speaker 1: doing an urban exploration. Okay. This story comes from Belgium
- 28:33Speaker 1: and took place in 2020 during COVID confinements. I was
- 28:37Speaker 1: 20 back then at the time. Because of the severity
- 28:40Speaker 1: of the pandemic in Belgium, the law stated that you
- 28:42Speaker 1: can only go out to practice sports or to work.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I took the habit of meeting with a friend, Sully,
- 28:47Speaker 1: to go out for runs and practice all kinds of
- 28:49Speaker 1: sports in general. Both of us were quite fond of
- 28:51Speaker 1: urban exploration and knew a spot on the outskirts of Brussels.
- 28:54Speaker 1: consisting of an old sports and wellness center where we
- 28:57Speaker 1: took the habit to hang out after our runs. To
- 28:59Speaker 1: get into the spot, you must go through a hole
- 29:01Speaker 1: in the fence on a street, cross a portion of woods,
- 29:03Speaker 1: and you'll come up on a football pitch and tennis
- 29:06Speaker 1: court up on the hill in the center, which is
- 29:08Speaker 1: by a four-story building. The whole center takes a whole
- 29:11Speaker 1: street block. Okay. On that day, we had just finished
- 29:13Speaker 1: a five-kilometer run and went to our spot as usual.
- 29:15Speaker 1: We were walking to the building since it was about
- 29:18Speaker 1: to rain, and we saw two teenagers sitting on the
- 29:20Speaker 1: roof edge. And I remember thinking that it bothered me
- 29:22Speaker 1: since we were planning to go to the roof as well.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So as we went to the hall area to wait
- 29:26Speaker 1: with a bit of the hopes that these people would leave.
- 29:28Speaker 1: In the hall area, you have a clearer view into
- 29:30Speaker 1: the kitchen, which you must go through if you want
- 29:32Speaker 1: to go to the roof. You can also see another
- 29:34Speaker 1: small hall and into the dining room. Sully was rolling
- 29:37Speaker 1: himself a cigarette while I was gathering two cherries. and
- 29:40Speaker 1: an office table for us to sit. The next part
- 29:42Speaker 1: gives me chills to this day. As I started setting
- 29:44Speaker 1: everything up, I remember it starting to feel unwell, as
- 29:47Speaker 1: I was being watched and not in a good way.
- 29:49Speaker 1: That's when I looked at the kitchen and saw for
- 29:51Speaker 1: a brief moment a head sticking out of the door
- 29:53Speaker 1: frame and staring at us. It was a man. I
- 29:56Speaker 1: couldn't say what age he was as he was all dirty,
- 29:58Speaker 1: but the only thing I remember is that he had
- 29:59Speaker 1: an exaggerated happy expression on his face. Oh, I hate it,
- 30:02Speaker 1: I hate it, I hate it. Like he had just
- 30:04Speaker 1: found exactly what he was looking for. At that moment,
- 30:06Speaker 1: I just froze and was unable to react bravely in
- 30:09Speaker 1: this situation. I leaned towards Sully all while trying to
- 30:12Speaker 1: keep eye contact with the man and told him very
- 30:14Speaker 1: calmly that we had to go immediately i tend to
- 30:16Speaker 1: make lots of jokes with all my friends especially sully
- 30:19Speaker 1: when he saw the look on my face when i
- 30:21Speaker 1: told him we had to leave he didn't say a
- 30:23Speaker 1: word i just took the backpack stood up and we
- 30:27Speaker 1: ran to the football pitch and saw the two teenagers
- 30:29Speaker 1: still on the roof we started to ask that the
- 30:30Speaker 1: man was with them or if they saw him and
- 30:32Speaker 1: they answered no they hadn't seen anyone and that they
- 30:36Speaker 1: had come by themselves. So if someone was there, he
- 30:38Speaker 1: wasn't with them. We told them that it was probably
- 30:40Speaker 1: better for them to leave as well since we didn't
- 30:43Speaker 1: know what the man in the lobby was up to.
- 30:46Speaker 1: They told us they would be fine and they would
- 30:49Speaker 1: leave a bit after. We decided to leave since we
- 30:51Speaker 1: had already told them what we saw and had also
- 30:54Speaker 1: already been out for so long. It wasn't very legal
- 30:56Speaker 1: with confinement rules. As we were walking towards the woods,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I turned back and I swear I could see a
- 31:01Speaker 1: silhouette standing in front of the staircase leading to the roof.
- 31:04Speaker 1: But my mind couldn't quite react and I just left
- 31:06Speaker 1: alongside my friend. I don't know what happened to those teenagers,
- 31:09Speaker 1: but I found articles in local papers dating from the
- 31:12Speaker 1: time about teenagers being chased by a crazy man in
- 31:15Speaker 1: abandoned buildings. But the information wasn't given enough for me
- 31:17Speaker 1: to be sure if it was the same people in
- 31:19Speaker 1: the same story. I love abandoned places, but like homeless
- 31:22Speaker 1: people take up in abandoned places and a lot of
- 31:23Speaker 1: the time homeless people have mental health issues and mental
- 31:26Speaker 1: health issues lead to just spooky, spooky stuff. Why not
- 31:30Speaker 1: get into more strangers though? Let's talk about Valerian Jedi
- 31:33Speaker 1: having a strange man hunting him through a national park. Wow,
- 31:37Speaker 1: this sounds fun. Okay. I was camping in the middle
- 31:39Speaker 1: of nowhere in Washington near Mount Rainer, like non-official campground
- 31:43Speaker 1: just out in the forest where you wouldn't expect to
- 31:46Speaker 1: see another human for miles. One night I wake up
- 31:49Speaker 1: and hear something. I opened my tent. There was a
- 31:51Speaker 1: guy sitting by where my fire had been, right outside
- 31:55Speaker 1: my tent. No, no, nothing particularly noteworthy about the guy,
- 32:00Speaker 1: just fairly regular looking dude sitting there a couple feet
- 32:03Speaker 1: in my tent. No bag, pack, or anything with him,
- 32:06Speaker 1: just a guy. He saw me open the tent, his
- 32:08Speaker 1: eyes got huge like he had just seen a ghost,
- 32:10Speaker 1: and he took off. Why would he be surprised? He's
- 32:14Speaker 1: at your camp. It shook me up pretty bad, but
- 32:15Speaker 1: over the next day, I managed to put it out
- 32:17Speaker 1: of my mind fairly well after writing it off just
- 32:19Speaker 1: as an auto-current. You went to bed? That guy was
- 32:22Speaker 1: probably high or something and had somehow managed to set
- 32:25Speaker 1: up a camp, coincidentally not far from mine. Okay, so
- 32:27Speaker 1: he thought it was just wrong camp. Then two days
- 32:29Speaker 1: after that, 10 to 15 miles in totally random directions
- 32:32Speaker 1: that nobody could take the same path on accident, I
- 32:35Speaker 1: was sitting by the fire that night when I started
- 32:36Speaker 1: hearing noises and I got more and more convinced that
- 32:39Speaker 1: there was a person. I called out to them and
- 32:41Speaker 1: out of the darkness, someone said... Do you know how
- 32:44Speaker 1: to get to Bell's Canyon? I said no. I don't
- 32:47Speaker 1: even think that's a real place there. They kept talking,
- 32:50Speaker 1: just out of my line of vision. I tried to
- 32:52Speaker 1: see them with my flashlight, but they yelled, aim that way.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Kind of spooked and not wanting to piss off a
- 32:57Speaker 1: potentially crazy person, I did. After like 15 minutes of
- 33:00Speaker 1: me being freaked out and them talking and asking completely
- 33:03Speaker 1: random questions from the darkness, it sounded like the voice
- 33:06Speaker 1: had gotten closer. So I shined my light that way again.
- 33:08Speaker 1: It was the same dude that had been outside my
- 33:10Speaker 1: tent two nights before. He had to have followed me
- 33:12Speaker 1: at least 15 miles over two days because there is
- 33:16Speaker 1: no way he could have just accidentally wound up in
- 33:18Speaker 1: the same spot in this vast wilderness. I hate this.
- 33:22Speaker 1: As soon as my light was on him, he took
- 33:23Speaker 1: off again. Oh, I'm out. I don't even like reading this.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I'm like, Oh God, I want to barf. I started
- 33:31Speaker 1: to chase him, but I didn't want to get lost
- 33:32Speaker 1: in the wilderness in the dark, so I stopped quickly. Why?
- 33:35Speaker 1: Run the opposite direction home. But this one couldn't be
- 33:38Speaker 1: written off because the only way he could have been
- 33:40Speaker 1: in both places at once is if he was following me.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I decided that the trip was over very first thing
- 33:44Speaker 1: in the morning. Why are you waiting? I hiked back
- 33:47Speaker 1: over three days, constantly doubling back, trying to throw anyone
- 33:51Speaker 1: off my trail and occasionally hiding and waiting to see
- 33:53Speaker 1: if he would come by following me. I can't describe
- 33:56Speaker 1: how terrifying it was. And I feel like I was
- 33:58Speaker 1: being hunted through the woods and to actually have a
- 34:00Speaker 1: brainstorm on things that I could do to avoid being
- 34:02Speaker 1: potentially yeeted. On the first night of hiking out twice,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I heard a sound that sounded like a person walking
- 34:08Speaker 1: outside in circles by my tent. but by the time
- 34:10Speaker 1: I mustered the courage to look, nobody was there. On
- 34:12Speaker 1: the second night, I heard what was an animal making
- 34:14Speaker 1: noises in the distance, and I slowly decided that it
- 34:17Speaker 1: was a human making animal calls, but it could have
- 34:19Speaker 1: actually just been an animal, but I didn't see the
- 34:21Speaker 1: guy again, but it really sounded like a person making
- 34:24Speaker 1: howling noises. I literally almost cried when I got back
- 34:26Speaker 1: to my car as the relief was so strong. What?
- 34:29Speaker 1: I won't even go out on my property at night,
- 34:31Speaker 1: and I know nobody's out there, but like, can you
- 34:33Speaker 1: imagine being 15 kilometers in, you haven't seen a person,
- 34:36Speaker 1: and there's somebody talking to you, and you can't, were
- 34:38Speaker 1: they real? Could you imagine how fun it would be
- 34:40Speaker 1: to fuck with someone like that though? Oh my god,
- 34:41Speaker 1: I'm seeing it from both sides. Okay, comment. Sounds like
- 34:44Speaker 1: you're in a three-day horror movie. Yeah, sounds like a
- 34:46Speaker 1: really scary horror movie and it sounds delicious. I'll write
- 34:48Speaker 1: a screenplay. I want to be done. I want to
- 34:50Speaker 1: be done now because these are scary and I'm spooked
- 34:53Speaker 1: and I love it. Are you guys enjoying these Reddit stories?
- 34:55Speaker 1: Please let me know. I absolutely enjoy them. I hope
- 34:58Speaker 1: you're doing well. I hope you're happy. I'm full. I
- 34:59Speaker 1: hope you're full of love and life. I'm full of
- 35:01Speaker 1: chocolate bunnies. I know Easter was a while ago. I'm
- 35:03Speaker 1: still eating chocolate. I'm trying not to, but I am.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I love you. Stay strong, stay true to you, and
- 35:08Speaker 1: talk to you later. Bye, Boo Crew!
