- 0:40Speaker 4: thirty yesterday and we're supposed to get above thirty today barely,
- 0:44Speaker 4: I will say I am grateful that amongst all of
- 0:46Speaker 4: the snow creet that we knock on wood, have never
- 0:49Speaker 4: lost power, which you know, I'm still seeing images from
- 0:53Speaker 4: people and our friends down in Nashville, Tennessee. They're slowly
- 0:56Speaker 4: getting their power back after a week. So I am
- 0:59Speaker 4: grateful that we never lost power where I live. That's
- 1:02Speaker 4: I'm going to start with that today.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yep, there you go, always something to be happy about.
- 1:08Speaker 4: What about you?

- 1:16Speaker 2: that I tossed the old pillows that I've had for
- 1:19Speaker 2: more than a decade and they're gone now, and wow,
- 1:22Speaker 2: you know, it's It's funny what happens when you have
- 1:25Speaker 2: a little bit of extra time and you make yourself
- 1:27Speaker 2: a priority, you adult, you do unbelievable. Who would have
- 1:31Speaker 2: known that I would be this overjoyed about new sheets
- 1:35Speaker 2: and pillows and pillows that I got from my house.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It's just, you know, it's the little things. Yeah, they're very,
- 1:41Speaker 2: very comfortable. If you want to know where I got
- 1:43Speaker 2: them from, hit me up and I'll let you know.

- 2:27Speaker 4: to end the partial government shutdown. The panel advanced a
- 2:31Speaker 4: Senate approved funding package that would reopen the government and
- 2:34Speaker 4: extend Department of Homeland Security funding for two weeks. Authorities
- 2:38Speaker 4: are searching for the mother of Today's Show host Savannah
- 2:41Speaker 4: Guthrie after she went missing near Tucson. Eighty four year
- 2:46Speaker 4: old Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Sunday, and officials
- 2:49Speaker 4: believe she was taken against her will. A Fairfax County
- 2:53Speaker 4: jury has found Brendan Banfield guilty of aggravated murder in
- 2:58Speaker 4: the twenty twenty three deaths of his wife, Christine and
- 3:02Speaker 4: another man in what prosecutors called a calculated plot tied
- 3:07Speaker 4: to an affair with the family's o pair. So he
- 3:10Speaker 4: now faces life in prison with no parole, and sentencing
- 3:14Speaker 4: is set for May. The essential water use only request
- 3:19Speaker 4: for Prince George's and Montgomery Counties has been lifted after
- 3:23Speaker 4: water pressure and storage levels returned to normal. That restriction

- 3:31Speaker 4: during the extreme cold and The Winter Olympics begin this
- 3:35Speaker 4: week in Italy. The opening ceremony for the Milano Cortina
- 3:38Speaker 4: game set for Friday and will feature performances by Mariah
- 3:42Speaker 4: Carey and Andrea Bucelli. Forecast for today cloudy skies, highs
- 3:46Speaker 4: around forty right now, twenty five in Lisburn.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And that's the news. Remember Toby and Chilly's top stories.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You get it every hour right here when you wake
- 3:55Speaker 2: up with Toby and Chilly in the morning on ninety
- 3:57Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM, and coming up in just
- 4:00Speaker 2: a few minutes, we want to talk about you and
- 4:02Speaker 2: how you're doing. How's your head today, what's your mindset like?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Maybe the words that we've found this morning will speak
- 4:09Speaker 2: to you with your morning mindset, which is just minutes away,
- 4:12Speaker 2: So if you need it, stay close. Ninety seven point
- 4:15Speaker 2: one WASCHFM, Washington's variety from the eighties nineties, and today
- 4:19Speaker 2: we're Toby and Chile in the morning, and it is
- 4:21Speaker 2: time on this Tuesday for us to stop for a
- 4:25Speaker 2: minute and think about you and your headspace.
- 4:27Speaker 4: And this is our morning mindset. We find a quote
- 4:30Speaker 4: and we share it with you, maybe to give you
- 4:31Speaker 4: some motivation or inspiration throughout the day.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Have you heard of Mark Cuban. Of course you have
- 4:37Speaker 2: sharks well. Mark Cuban says, it's not about money, your connections,
- 4:42Speaker 2: it's the willingness to outwork and outlearn everyone. Mark Cuban says,
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's not about money, your connections, it's the willingness to
- 4:52Speaker 2: outwork and out learn everyone. See, here's the thing. Work ethic,
- 4:56Speaker 2: that's a thing. But the real equalizer is not talent,
- 5:01Speaker 2: but it's just showing up. It's the effort you put
- 5:05Speaker 2: into everything that you're doing. It's not about the other stuff.
- 5:10Speaker 2: It's important. I guess it does have a place. But
- 5:13Speaker 2: if you're willing to outwork and out learn everyone, you'll
- 5:16Speaker 2: win in the long run. Keep that in mind today,
- 5:18Speaker 2: Mark Cuban, thank you, and if you've got some words
- 5:21Speaker 2: that have inspired you, would love to hear them. You
- 5:24Speaker 2: can find your morning line set on the Toby and Chilipage,
- 5:26Speaker 2: WATCHFM dot com or hit us up on instaf you
- 5:29Speaker 2: want to, you can find it there as well. Now
- 5:32Speaker 2: coming up in just a few minutes is Tobia Chili
- 5:34Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Continues, Okay, well, you're gonna have to do some explaining
- 5:37Speaker 4: because I got a text from you Saturday afternoon and
- 5:40Speaker 4: all it said was having a pipe burst. Was not
- 5:44Speaker 4: on my twenty twenty six bingo card?
- 5:47Speaker 2: What right?
- 5:48Speaker 4: What happened?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Tell you in a minute? And yes, it's no bueno.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And I did wear goloshes hang on. And so it
- 5:56Speaker 2: came to pass that a pipe burst in the water
- 5:59Speaker 2: closet where I and it flooded part of my living room.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Sheby and chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point
- 6:05Speaker 2: one watch FM. And that's how I've been living my
- 6:08Speaker 2: life the last few days, in the middle of chaos
- 6:11Speaker 2: and order.
- 6:12Speaker 4: So how did you discover that there had been a
- 6:15Speaker 4: pipe burst in your apartment?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Well, Saturday afternoon, I just kind of was having a
- 6:20Speaker 2: leisurely day, waiting on my significant other to come over
- 6:23Speaker 2: and spend some time. I wheeled into the living room
- 6:25Speaker 2: to kind of watch some TV, and I noticed that
- 6:28Speaker 2: the wheels on my roll later, which helps me get around,
- 6:31Speaker 2: left a weird mark on the ground. Oh yes, it
- 6:35Speaker 2: turned like a really dark color, like mud, but it
- 6:38Speaker 2: wasn't mud. Then I noticed in the landing there was
- 6:41Speaker 2: water that had gotten into the door landing by my
- 6:44Speaker 2: front door. Then I looked over under the couch and
- 6:47Speaker 2: I'm like, that's more water. Oh boy, there's water coming
- 6:51Speaker 2: from somewhere. H And it turns out it was from
- 6:54Speaker 2: that water closet. A pipe had burst in there where
- 6:58Speaker 2: the water heater is, just because it's tpertures have been
- 7:00Speaker 2: so extreme. Sure, so I grabbed the phone, called the
- 7:03Speaker 2: emergency number. Maintenance came over. They turned off the water
- 7:06Speaker 2: from it to stop the y hemorrhaging, you know what
- 7:09Speaker 2: I mean. And then people from the restoration company came
- 7:12Speaker 2: over and they started knocking out walls. And I'm living
- 7:15Speaker 2: in the middle of all of this chaos.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Y that is not fun. And I will say, there
- 7:18Speaker 4: are two silver linings here, not that you're maybe you're
- 7:21Speaker 4: looking for some one you rent. So thankfully a lot
- 7:24Speaker 4: of this is not covered by you.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Aim into that.
- 7:26Speaker 4: And two, thank goodness you caught it when you did,
- 7:29Speaker 4: because it could have been so much worse.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh Lord, had I been away for the weekend and
- 7:34Speaker 2: nobody would have caught that, oh man, exactly. And there's
- 7:38Speaker 2: a third thing to be thanked sure and fourth. The
- 7:41Speaker 2: third is that I have an insurance policy. It's important
- 7:44Speaker 2: to have renters insurance. It's a don't skimp on the
- 7:47Speaker 2: insurance for you stuff people. Let my pain be a lesson.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And the last thing I'm thankful for is that my
- 7:54Speaker 2: significant other came in to help project manage everything, proving
- 7:58Speaker 2: once again that I could not do it alone and
- 8:01Speaker 2: I could not do it without her help. She's good
- 8:03Speaker 2: at that stuff. I'm not. So that was my weekend,
- 8:07Speaker 2: How was yours? Hopefully they'll have it done by the
- 8:10Speaker 2: end of the week. Toby and Chilly in the morning,
- 8:12Speaker 2: it's ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. Who knows what's
- 8:15Speaker 2: gonna happen next in my world? I'm sure it'll be very,
- 8:18Speaker 2: very entertaining, but I do know this coming up next
- 8:21Speaker 2: in our world is the news Toby and Chilly's top stories. Hanger,
- 8:25Speaker 2: think of it. With an extra thousand dollars, you could
- 8:27Speaker 2: go play someplace warm and sunny with no snow crete.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Oh Colgon, take me away. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM,
- 8:36Speaker 2: so you need an extra thousand dollars. Maybe we can help.
- 8:39Speaker 4: It's our thousand dollars work day Payday. You're gonna get
- 8:41Speaker 4: your first keyword nine ten this morning with Jenny.
- 8:44Speaker 2: She Listen, get the keyword enterant on our website and
- 8:47Speaker 2: answer your phone. You could get paid.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station, coming
- 8:55Speaker 1: up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Authorities believe the eighty four year old mother of today's
- 9:00Speaker 4: show host Savannah Guthrie was taken against her will. We've
- 9:05Speaker 4: got the latest on that story and others on the
- 9:08Speaker 4: way on ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Kids in the DC area slowly getting back to school,
- 9:19Speaker 4: Many school systems in the DMV opening two hours late
- 9:23Speaker 4: this morning. For the full list of delays and closings,
- 9:26Speaker 4: you can find it at washfm dot com slash closings.
- 9:31Speaker 4: The House Rules Committee paving the way for a vote
- 9:33Speaker 4: to end the partial government shut down today, they move
- 9:37Speaker 4: forward a funding package yesterday approved last week by the Senate.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Homeland Security Secretary Christyenome says at immigration agents in Minneapolis
- 9:47Speaker 4: will begin wearing body cameras, calling it a move toward
- 9:51Speaker 4: greater transparency with plans to expand nationwide as funding allows.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Authorities now believe the eighty four year old of Today's
- 10:00Speaker 4: Show host Savannah Guthrie was kidnapped, abducted, or otherwise taken
- 10:04Speaker 4: against her will over the weekend. Investigators say it is
- 10:08Speaker 4: imperative that she is found soon because she could die
- 10:12Speaker 4: without her medication. A Fairfax County jury has convicted Brendan
- 10:17Speaker 4: Banfield of murdering his wife and another man back in
- 10:20Speaker 4: twenty twenty three. Prosecutor said Banfield conspired with his family's
- 10:24Speaker 4: o pair, whom he was having an affair with, and
- 10:28Speaker 4: used a fetish website to lure the victim. Sentencing is
- 10:33Speaker 4: scheduled for May. A DC Public school's employee has been
- 10:37Speaker 4: arrested on charges of distributing child pornography. Prosecutors say thirty
- 10:42Speaker 4: one year old Dedre Eric Davis was employed at Luke
- 10:45Speaker 4: Seymour Opportunities Academy and DC is set to host its
- 10:50Speaker 4: first ever Indy car race this summer after the President
- 10:54Speaker 4: signed in executive order creating the Freedom two fifty Grand Prix.
- 10:59Speaker 4: The late August race will wind through the streets around
- 11:02Speaker 4: the National Mall as part of America's two hundred and
- 11:05Speaker 4: fiftieth birthday celebration. Forecast for today mostly cloudy skies, highs
- 11:10Speaker 4: around forty right now, though twenty five in Laurel coming
- 11:13Speaker 4: up in just a few minutes.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Chili shared with me on Friday, Yeah, that going into
- 11:19Speaker 2: the weekend, that was she had a plan, Yes, a
- 11:23Speaker 2: plan to get her dad dug out because he's been
- 11:27Speaker 2: snowed in. And then yeah, snow creted in and well
- 11:31Speaker 2: how did it go?
- 11:32Speaker 4: Oh, I'll give you an update, And a lot of
- 11:33Speaker 4: people are in the same desperate situation.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Even so, days after the worst of this has passed,
- 11:41Speaker 2: stay there you could probably relate. It's coming up next,
- 11:45Speaker 2: Chilby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point
- 11:47Speaker 2: one Wash FM. Question, are you dug out yet or
- 11:50Speaker 2: do you still have places that are covered in snow crete?
- 11:55Speaker 2: I know that might be an interesting thing to be
- 11:57Speaker 2: talking about days after the storm, But Chilly, as we
- 12:01Speaker 2: got into last weekend and even into this new week,
- 12:04Speaker 2: you have been dealing with digging out dad.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I have so. My dad lives a mile away from
- 12:10Speaker 4: us in Vienna, and I cleared out our driveway because
- 12:14Speaker 4: my husband had his gall bladder removed and he couldn't shovel,
- 12:17Speaker 4: and it took me multiple times over the course of
- 12:21Speaker 4: probably six or seven hours a couple of days. So
- 12:25Speaker 4: I was in no shape to dig my dad out
- 12:28Speaker 4: of his driveway. But there are a lot of neighborhood groups,
- 12:30Speaker 4: and I know you've probably seen this yourself. People are
- 12:33Speaker 4: soliciting for help and other people are doing it for pay. Yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 4: and well I paid somebody to dig my dad out
- 12:42Speaker 4: right now?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Is it?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Aside the look on her faces, shock meets shock meets
- 12:49Speaker 2: a shock, I'm a.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Little bit nauseous for let's just say it was a
- 12:53Speaker 4: little bit less than a car payment. Whoa, because that
- 12:57Speaker 4: was the going rate. I did get multiple quotes wow.
- 13:00Speaker 4: And I will also say there's no real equipment that
- 13:03Speaker 4: is able to get people out of this, so we're
- 13:05Speaker 4: having people show up with shovels and pick axes to
- 13:08Speaker 4: dig people out. So it is a lot of labor
- 13:11Speaker 4: and to go bout one hour. But my dad was
- 13:13Speaker 4: able to be free and he is now free to
- 13:16Speaker 4: run his errands and he's very happy, and I'm glad.
- 13:19Speaker 2: So he should be free to reimburse you. No no
- 13:23Speaker 2: car payment, you spent.
- 13:24Speaker 4: No, no, no, I know he has no clue that
- 13:27Speaker 4: I did that. So and he doesn't listen at this hour,
- 13:30Speaker 4: So that's why I'm talking about it now. But I
- 13:33Speaker 4: will say I don't think it's rare. I think a
- 13:35Speaker 4: lot of people have been paying to get their spots
- 13:38Speaker 4: dug out. I think that's what's going on right now.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I was going to say, where the neighborhood kids. Couldn't
- 13:42Speaker 2: you have gone to them and said, here's like five dollars.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Neighborhood kids don't even come around for powdered snow, coming
- 13:49Speaker 4: around for snow crea.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And I don't know that I want to see kids
- 13:51Speaker 2: doing anything with pick axes, you know what I mean?
- 13:54Speaker 2: That's true. So have you had to pay to get
- 13:57Speaker 2: dug out in the aftermath of the storms from last week?
- 14:00Speaker 2: You know the ones that have had schools closed even
- 14:03Speaker 2: into this new week. Call us eight sixty six ninet two,
- 14:06Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one layers story on us. If
- 14:09Speaker 2: it's easier for you, tap the talk back microphone. It's
- 14:11Speaker 2: wide open if you're signed in listening to us on
- 14:13Speaker 2: your iHeart app. Right now, we're Toby and Chilly in
- 14:15Speaker 2: the morning, and we will talk about this snow crete
- 14:20Speaker 2: conundrum that we're all facing next. Oh look from Marlingdon
- 14:26Speaker 2: Wendy's on the phones. You must have an opinion Toby
- 14:29Speaker 2: and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one
- 14:32Speaker 2: Wash FM.
- 14:32Speaker 4: About digging out of your space after the snow creed.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I paid somebody to dig my dad's driveway. I feel
- 14:40Speaker 4: like more and more people are starting to do that.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I talked to at least ten people just to shovel
- 14:45Speaker 3: out one tiny Toyota pria. The highest amount quoted to
- 14:51Speaker 3: me was three hundred and thirty dollars.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Wow.
- 14:54Speaker 3: The lowest who I went with, was one hundred and
- 14:56Speaker 3: fifty dollars. Whoa these guys, they took access to it
- 15:00Speaker 3: first and they were done within thirty minutes.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Unbelievable.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Do you have a signed parking so it's guaranteed to
- 15:06Speaker 4: be there or no?
- 15:07Speaker 3: No, we do not. And actually I am as I'm
- 15:10Speaker 3: getting ready to leave, I am taking a tall laundry
- 15:13Speaker 3: basket down with me, and I have found a great
- 15:16Speaker 3: use for one of my kettle ball weights. I'm putting
- 15:19Speaker 3: that inside there with the sign that shays reserved.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Wait a minute, now, you can't go claim and it's
- 15:24Speaker 2: a reserve. You can't do that, Wendy. It never ends well.
- 15:28Speaker 2: You Just because you a cleared spot does not mean
- 15:31Speaker 2: it it's your spot.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I don't care. I'm going to home depot to buy
- 15:35Speaker 3: an orange traffic cone later today.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Oh look, that's not gonna help. They're just gonna move it.
- 15:41Speaker 4: You bring up a really common issue here. People who
- 15:44Speaker 4: live in the city, like our very own producer Crash,
- 15:47Speaker 4: who either dug it out himself or paid somebody to
- 15:50Speaker 4: dig out their spot, does not mean that other people
- 15:53Speaker 4: can't take it. It would drive me nuts if I
- 15:55Speaker 4: paid one hundred and fifty dollars and somebody took it.
- 15:58Speaker 3: There should be a rule that basically everybody should follow
- 16:02Speaker 3: be a good neighbor. If you didn't dig out that space,
- 16:05Speaker 3: you're not parking there.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Dang, Wendy.
- 16:08Speaker 2: House in a perfect world, in a perfect world, but
- 16:12Speaker 2: unfortunately this world ain't perfect. I love it. Just because
- 16:15Speaker 2: you've dug it out doesn't make it yours.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Well, in Wendy's world, it is mine.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And Wendy has spoken Toby and Chili in the morning,
- 16:24Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one watch FM. Wendy, thank you
- 16:27Speaker 2: for always being there for us. We love you. And
- 16:29Speaker 2: if you can relate to Chili's plight dropping a ton
- 16:32Speaker 2: of money to get dead dug out of the snow,
- 16:35Speaker 2: and Wendy's plight of putting up signs that say reserved.
- 16:39Speaker 2: We would love to hear from you. Or if you've
- 16:41Speaker 2: got thoughts, chime in eight six six, ninet two, seven
- 16:43Speaker 2: forty three sixty one. You know the number, or tap
- 16:46Speaker 2: the talk back microphone and fire away with your thoughts.
- 16:49Speaker 2: If you're signed into your iHeart app, you can use
- 16:51Speaker 2: it well hear what you have to say. Coming up
- 16:53Speaker 2: in minutes. First though the News, Toby and Chilli's Top
- 16:56Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour.
- 16:57Speaker 1: On the Way ninety one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Coming up on top Stories Top of the hour, a
- 17:07Speaker 4: fairbax County Jerry found Brendan Banfield guilty of aggravated murder
- 17:11Speaker 4: in the deaths of his wife and another man. We've
- 17:14Speaker 4: got the latest on that story and others on the
