- 0:01Speaker 1: So this latest episode is an exclusive episode just for
- 0:06Speaker 1: the members of the meltdown horror club which by the
- 0:11Speaker 1: way do you guys know that we have new members.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We do now granted we had one maybe around the
- 0:30Speaker 2: last time we recorded there was a new party but
- 0:33Speaker 2: since then in the last two weeks we've had two
- 0:36Speaker 2: new people sweet welcome so hi new people if nothing
- 0:40Speaker 2: else thank you for joining and for supporting us and
- 0:43Speaker 2: another little notice that you yourself if you're sitting there
- 0:47Speaker 2: not part of the crew you could join up right
- 0:49Speaker 2: now and you could be one of those people and
- 0:51Speaker 2: we would be very appreciative of you as well but
- 0:55Speaker 2: yeah I thought that was cool And one of them
- 0:58Speaker 2: has already given us a movie to put on the list. Well, sweet. So,
- 1:02Speaker 2: you see, this is one of the benefits. If you
- 1:04Speaker 2: join up, you get to give us a movie to
- 1:06Speaker 2: add to our constantly rotating, rolling the die, figuring out
- 1:10Speaker 2: where we're going next list. And he's picked one, and
- 1:14Speaker 2: in my opinion, it's a good movie. Unlike most of
- 1:17Speaker 2: the other things I usually throw out in this little promo. So,
- 1:21Speaker 2: in looking today... Like I said, most of the ones
- 1:24Speaker 2: we've been doing since we started this craziness is stuff
- 1:28Speaker 2: that I will find out in the real world. Physical media.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I keep looking for it. I keep buying it. I'm
- 1:33Speaker 2: out of control at this point. I don't even know
- 1:35Speaker 2: where to put it anymore. And I just, it's so
- 1:38Speaker 2: damn cheap. They're just giving them away. So I'll usually,
- 1:40Speaker 2: but the weird thing is when I find one, I'm like,
- 1:42Speaker 2: I'm not even familiar with it. And I'm like, how
- 1:44Speaker 2: is this a thing? All I do is talk about movies.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Most of the stuff I've at least heard of. So
- 1:49Speaker 2: when I see one, I don't know. I'm like, what
- 1:51Speaker 2: the hell is this? That's usually where we land on these.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So this one, I was going through the ones I've
- 1:57Speaker 2: seen recently, and I picked this one because it looks
- 1:59Speaker 2: like it's kind of a James Wan knockoff.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Let me just show you the cover here of The Summoning.
- 2:10Speaker 3: The Summoning.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Which you'll notice the first word is conjure, and then
- 2:15Speaker 2: over here it ends in inge. So I think they're
- 2:18Speaker 2: playing with the, if you just kind of glance, Conjuring. Hey,
- 2:21Speaker 2: I like the Conjuring.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I never would have picked up on that.
- 2:24Speaker 2: See, it's subtle.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Sneaky. Sneaky advertising.
- 2:28Speaker 2: That's what it's all about.
- 2:28Speaker 3: They're being much too vague.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Well, and I think that's what a lot of the
- 2:31Speaker 2: knockoffs kind of go with. They're like, let's pick a
- 2:33Speaker 2: photo that kind of looks like the same poster, or
- 2:36Speaker 2: the font will be similar, or the title is kind
- 2:39Speaker 2: of similar. So yeah, the tagline is Conjure the Dead,
- 2:43Speaker 2: Evil Will Rise.
- 2:45Speaker 4: That's the most vague tagline.
- 2:48Speaker 2: That's how you do it. So then you can apply
- 2:50Speaker 2: it towards whatever the hell you want.
- 2:52Speaker 3: There's another poster for it that clearly is ripping off
- 2:57Speaker 3: what lies beneath.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Oh. Which all that is is you turn something upside down.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But, I mean... I don't know. So I was going
- 3:08Speaker 2: by the description here, if you flip it over.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Or was it so as below?
- 3:12Speaker 2: I think it looks, that poster looks more like that.
- 3:14Speaker 3: So when were they in Paris?
- 3:15Speaker 2: That's where I'm looking for.
- 3:16Speaker 3: They're in the catacombs.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But this, the description.
- 3:20Speaker 3: It's not the worst idea.
- 3:21Speaker 2: We've ended up on some terrible things.
- 3:23Speaker 3: So this could be- Three out of 10 on IMDB?
- 3:26Speaker 2: This one says- Not bad. A group of people attempting
- 3:29Speaker 2: to communicate with the underworld find themselves in the presence
- 3:32Speaker 2: of three spirits, a father, mother, and a child.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Huh.
- 3:37Speaker 3: When's yours from? Is yours from 2017?
- 3:40Speaker 2: See, that's the thing. If you look it up on IMDb,
- 3:43Speaker 2: those are totally different movies. Because I kept looking. One
- 3:45Speaker 2: has Eric Roberts in it, and I'm like, this is
- 3:47Speaker 2: not an Eric Roberts movie.
- 3:48Speaker 3: That's what I was curious about, because this summary is
- 3:52Speaker 3: completely different.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And if you look at the names, I feel like...
- 3:55Speaker 2: This was not shot in America. So, one by one,
- 4:00Speaker 2: the group members are possessed by the spirits, revealing horrifying
- 4:04Speaker 2: secrets from the past. Trapped and under attack from these
- 4:07Speaker 2: violent entities, only one member of the group may hold
- 4:10Speaker 2: the key to exercising the spirits out of the mansion
- 4:14Speaker 2: for good. Don't you want us to watch that?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Kind of, I mean.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I guess.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Maybe? Anyway... The point of all this is you probably
- 4:27Speaker 2: know of way better movies than any of those that
- 4:29Speaker 2: we rattle off when we do this. So you probably
- 4:32Speaker 2: would rather give us a much better movie that we
- 4:34Speaker 2: could watch. Otherwise, we'll end up with The Summoning.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Or even if you think you can come up with
- 4:40Speaker 3: a movie that's way worse than.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Anything we've watched. Quite possibly. I don't know. Some of them.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That's what was funny. This last... this weekend I think
- 4:52Speaker 2: I kept seeing and it's so much of these kind
- 4:54Speaker 2: of movies that the lower end of the ones we've
- 4:57Speaker 2: watched we just watched streaming I kept seeing physical versions
- 5:01Speaker 2: of them and I was like remember that weird Topher Grace.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Movie yeah I saw a physical version.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Of it I was like DVDs of this like I
- 5:10Speaker 2: didn't think they'd shell out that kind of fancy two
- 5:13Speaker 2: cents a disc money but There was that one, and
- 5:16Speaker 2: there was one of... Oh, the Malignant, or whatever that
- 5:19Speaker 2: kids in the house one is.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Malevolent?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Malevolent. That was my problem, is they all... It was
- 5:25Speaker 2: three titles that were all.
- 5:26Speaker 4: The Topher Grace one was like delirium.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Delirium.
- 5:30Speaker 4: The Ghost Hunter one was malevolent.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's got... What's her face in it? She's super popular now. Yeah,
- 5:37Speaker 2: Florence Pugh. Yeah, Florence Pugh. And that was the best
- 5:41Speaker 2: part of that movie. She was good in it, but...
- 5:43Speaker 2: It was not a great movie. So again, physical version
- 5:46Speaker 2: of that yesterday. I was just like, what the hell? Like,
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't need these.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I've already seen this garbage.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So yeah, that was my takeaway. You can give us
- 5:54Speaker 2: a much better movie and then I won't have to
- 5:56Speaker 2: go out in the world and buy a physical copy
- 5:58Speaker 2: of some weird movie with Topher Grace.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But you probably will.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I probably will. I might have a copy of Spider-Man
- 6:05Speaker 2: 3 laying around. But don't pick that one, for God's sakes.
- 6:09Speaker 2: That's a horror movie. It kind of is. Even Marvel
- 6:12Speaker 2: people think that's a horror movie. So, yeah. If nothing else,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you know, in the meantime, you can hear us say
- 6:19Speaker 2: amazing things like this. We're literally sitting a few feet
- 6:24Speaker 2: away from a pumpkin patch.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It's seasonal.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I think by next week.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You'll be in the middle.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Of a pumpkin. I mean, I, for a while, I
- 6:31Speaker 2: kept making reference that I thought Audrey too lived outside
- 6:34Speaker 2: the door and was going to come and eat me.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So I've kept an eye on what's going on out there,
- 6:39Speaker 2: but it kept spreading, but it wasn't getting bigger in
- 6:42Speaker 2: that sense. It just kept spreading wider. So now it's
- 6:45Speaker 2: taken over that whole area and the area across the
- 6:48Speaker 2: sidewalk and it's, it's sprouted pumpkins now. So we're, yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 2: we're probably gonna be attacked by pumpkin monsters i don't
- 6:56Speaker 2: know i only assume eventually though you don't carve a
- 6:59Speaker 2: jack-o'-lantern it just becomes a jack-o'-lantern right that's what i
- 7:02Speaker 2: thought it tries to eat.
- 7:03Speaker 4: You and i'm a dehydrated husk of a person but
- 7:08Speaker 4: that works because this movie is about husks of people
- 7:11Speaker 4: that's true yeah so i'm on theme.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Knowing you, I expected you to be excited. Sure. I
- 7:18Speaker 2: think this is what a lot of my whole thing
- 7:21Speaker 2: with the movie as I went on, and we can
- 7:22Speaker 2: elaborate on many other things, but my overall thing going
- 7:25Speaker 2: in was like.
- 7:26Speaker 3: It is a young woman in a pink cardigan sweater
- 7:33Speaker 3: with a backing band of what appears to be a
- 7:35Speaker 3: guy on a guitar and a girl on a theremin,
- 7:38Speaker 3: I assume. So I can only imagine that that's fantastic.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Like, yeah, you already publicly executed her. Why do you
- 7:47Speaker 4: care to follow through with what's in her will?
- 7:49Speaker 2: I know we murdered her and all, but we gotta
- 7:52Speaker 2: do this the right way.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 5: That guy's just a really bad cop. I mean, first
- 7:58Speaker 5: of all, he's clearly out of his jurisdiction. And it's
- 8:03Speaker 5: important that I use the words it's a normal human
- 8:05Speaker 5: family who some strange occurrences happen to them that I
- 8:12Speaker 5: don't want to You guys would just be like, what
- 8:14Speaker 5: the fuck? So some strange things happen to them, and
- 8:17Speaker 5: then it jumps to the next story, which is an
- 8:22Speaker 5: anthropomorphic mouse.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Exactly. This giant package shows up with no address, just
- 8:29Speaker 2: his name handwritten on it.
- 8:33Speaker 3: In this post-9-11 people-mailing anthrax world, let's just open this up.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And then.
- 8:40Speaker 3: What the hell just happened and how did we get
- 8:44Speaker 3: to that moment huh and why aren't we wrapping it
- 8:49Speaker 3: up why are we just moving along something had to
- 8:51Speaker 3: have happened after that.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And what we find out is his wife was also
- 8:56Speaker 2: a witch and she'd been protecting him the entire time
- 8:59Speaker 2: so she has this secret life that he doesn't know
- 9:01Speaker 2: about that is like fighting off monsters and keeping the
- 9:04Speaker 2: town safe from evil and like he has no idea
- 9:07Speaker 2: this is going on It was weird. It's fun.
- 9:11Speaker 4: It's about scary mannequins and roadside attractions.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Running theme in my life. Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And I love a good mannequin movie.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I do love roadside attractions. I can take or leave
- 9:23Speaker 3: mannequin movies.
- 9:25Speaker 4: It's a fun one.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Mannequin 2 on the move. I mean, that's pretty awesome.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Time travel and mannequins. What more do you want? What
- 9:33Speaker 2: about Colin Robinson? I know.
- 9:35Speaker 3: You've got to figure out what's going on.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Let me tell you, you're not prepared for what's going on.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And so you probably don't know the special connection our
- 9:44Speaker 2: friend Donnie from this movie has with our town that
- 9:47Speaker 2: we're currently sitting in. No, but now I'm excited. It
- 9:51Speaker 2: became the new JAG.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Ambient noise ceases. No, you're trying to rhyme those two words?
- 9:59Speaker 3: You gotta sing. those for the boys overseas can't have
- 10:02Speaker 3: rubber can't have chocolate this place sucks can't even rhyme
- 10:07Speaker 3: even the camera work where they go from like one
- 10:10Speaker 3: room to the other and it just passes through the
- 10:11Speaker 3: wall like james well did and then you've even got
- 10:15Speaker 3: like the burning building like the burning windmill yeah I mean,
- 10:20Speaker 3: she's clearly so precise at building ventriloquist dummies. Surely you'd
- 10:25Speaker 3: think that she could sew a bunch of tongues together.
- 10:29Speaker 3: The rest of it is effective.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Like, each thing is super effective and creepy and does
- 10:34Speaker 2: its own little weird thing. But, like, by the time
- 10:36Speaker 2: we get to the.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Clearly he doesn't have a modern computer. He uses a
- 10:41Speaker 4: typewriter from 50 years ago. Just like our corner.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Everything in this town. Every accessory we have in this
- 10:48Speaker 2: world is from 50 years ago. That's impressive, man.
- 10:52Speaker 3: They bothered to explain where the soup goes, because they
- 10:56Speaker 3: knew you and I would be here going, what about
- 10:59Speaker 3: the soup?
- 11:02Speaker 2: So, go to MovieMeltdown.com, join the Meltdown Horror Club. You
- 11:05Speaker 2: can give us a much better movie to watch, and
- 11:08Speaker 2: then you can listen to us talk about it, because
- 11:10Speaker 2: you'll be part of the club.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I don't want to be your darling.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm not straight, I'm not free, honey. I don't want
- 11:17Speaker 2: your best life, boy, I'm not in your time.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Since the gun has
- 11:21Speaker 4: Dropped, it's fine.
