- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News. This is Sharry.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Good Evening.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Breaking news tonight that Donald Trump ceasefire has collapsed after
- 0:12Speaker 3: Iran fired missiles into Israel. President Trump is set to
- 0:16Speaker 3: speak any moment, will cross live to the United States
- 0:20Speaker 3: when that happens. We're also waiting this hour to hear
- 0:22Speaker 3: from the Israeli Prime Minister Benjaminette and Yahoo and right
- 0:26Speaker 3: now the Kitari Prime Minister is addressing the media. This
- 0:31Speaker 3: after Iran fired missiles into the major US military base
- 0:36Speaker 3: in Qatar, and after news just moments ago that the
- 0:40Speaker 3: ceasefire has collapsed, and just hours after the ceasefire was announced.
- 0:45Speaker 3: This morning, Sky News reporter Sophie Ellsworth was running for
- 0:49Speaker 3: a bomb shelter and yet another missile from Iran. She'll
- 0:53Speaker 3: join us a bit later on. Plus, Albanzi continues to
- 0:56Speaker 3: prove he's out of his depth on Iran. His week
- 0:59Speaker 3: leadership is risking our place in the world.
- 1:02Speaker 2: We'll cover all of this.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And more with tonight's huge guests. Form Israeli government spokesman
- 1:08Speaker 3: Elon Levy, former IDF Lieutenant Colonel Morris Hirsch, former Australia
- 1:13Speaker 3: Ambassador to Israel, Dave Sharma, plus Andrew Carswell, and Cameron Milna.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Now, as we.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Go to air tonight, the ceasefire in the Middle East
- 1:23Speaker 3: is set to collapse after a shocking violation by Iran.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Just hours after agreeing to a ceasefire, Iran fired missiles
- 1:32Speaker 3: into residential areas in northern Israel. This occurred at five
- 1:37Speaker 3: point thirty five pm Our time, just two and a
- 1:40Speaker 3: half hours ago, and it was Tuesday morning in Israel.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Israeli's were just beginning to relax with the ceasefire supposedly
- 1:49Speaker 3: taking effect when sirens sounded across the north. As you
- 1:53Speaker 3: can see, this is inexcusable. It's a clear violation of
- 1:58Speaker 3: the ceasefire and Iran won't be allowed to get away
- 2:01Speaker 3: with this. The IDF's Chief of the General Staff, e
- 2:04Speaker 3: L Zamir said in a statement tonight, in light of
- 2:08Speaker 3: the severe violation of the ceasefire carried out by the
- 2:10Speaker 3: Uranian regime, we will respond with force, and Israel's Defense
- 2:17Speaker 3: Minister Israel Katz says Jerusalem will respond forcefully in the
- 2:22Speaker 3: heart of Tehran. He said, this is a ceasefire violation.
- 2:28Speaker 3: So all this is unfolding right now. As we're going
- 2:30Speaker 3: to air, We'll keep bringing you the developments as they happen,
- 2:34Speaker 3: and President Donald Trump might address the media as he
- 2:38Speaker 3: boards his flight to NATO.
- 2:39Speaker 2: He's scheduled to do so this.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Hour, and when he does, we'll bring that straight to
- 2:44Speaker 3: you live now. Thankfully, both of the missiles fired into
- 2:49Speaker 3: northern Israel that we're in breach of the ceasefire were intercepted.
- 2:54Speaker 3: But earlier today Tehran targeted the residential area of BeSheva
- 2:59Speaker 3: yet again with a series of missiles that have now
- 3:03Speaker 3: killed four Israelis. Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles
- 3:08Speaker 3: in quick succession. Two were fired toward a residential building.
- 3:12Speaker 3: One was intercepted, but the other reportedly hit the sixth
- 3:16Speaker 3: floor of the apartment, and it directly hit two safe routs,
- 3:21Speaker 3: killing the four people inside and injuring another twenty two. Now,
- 3:27Speaker 3: three of those killed were members of a single family.
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's said to be a man and a woman, a
- 3:32Speaker 3: woman in their bodies and another man in his twenties,
- 3:36Speaker 3: and there were many other people extracted alive from beneath
- 3:41Speaker 3: the rubble. Now, this is shocking footage. This is the
- 3:45Speaker 3: moment that it hit. Now, the same area of Beshev
- 3:55Speaker 3: was impacted just last Thursday, when the Sorocca Medical Center
- 3:59Speaker 3: was struck by another Iranian missile. Now the Israeli Air
- 4:04Speaker 3: Force is investigating why the air defenses, including the Iron Dome,
- 4:09Speaker 3: didn't manage to intercept the missile this morning.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But tonight it does look like.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Israel will punish Iran for those cruel civilian deaths and
- 4:19Speaker 3: for breaching the agreement. Early today we had the welcome
- 4:24Speaker 3: news that America had broken a tentative ceasefire, and President
- 4:29Speaker 3: Trump declared, perhaps too optimistically on truth social congratulations to everyone.
- 4:35Speaker 3: It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and
- 4:38Speaker 3: Iran that there will be a complete and total ceasefire
- 4:43Speaker 3: in approximately six hours from now, when Israel and Iran
- 4:47Speaker 3: have wound down and completed their in progress final missions
- 4:51Speaker 3: for twelve hours, at which point the war will be
- 4:55Speaker 3: considered ended. And in that post, Trump, when I to
- 5:00Speaker 3: say this should be called the twelve day War, well, sadly,
- 5:05Speaker 3: it looks like that.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Name will have to be updated.
- 5:08Speaker 3: And let's hope it's only the thirteen and the fourteen
- 5:10Speaker 3: day war, and that this doesn't go on any longer
- 5:14Speaker 3: than necessary.
- 5:15Speaker 2: But hasn't it been a mass a few days?
- 5:18Speaker 3: And it explains why many are reaching for the famous
- 5:20Speaker 3: Lenin quote about the Russian Revolution that there are decades
- 5:24Speaker 3: when nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen.
- 5:29Speaker 3: And isn't that true of the past week, I mean
- 5:32Speaker 3: just the past few days. And many were skeptical that
- 5:36Speaker 3: the ceasefire announced by Trump wouldn't hold after Iran's foreign
- 5:40Speaker 3: minister said Abbas Aragachi, posted on social media that as
- 5:45Speaker 3: of now, there is no agreement on any ceasefire or
- 5:49Speaker 3: cessation of military operations. However, provided that these radio regimes
- 5:55Speaker 3: stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later
- 5:58Speaker 3: than four a m t Run time, we have no
- 6:01Speaker 3: intention to continue our response afterwards. And yet they did
- 6:08Speaker 3: firing two missiles, as we know in Northern Israelrael, in
- 6:13Speaker 3: breach of the ceasefire agreement that Donald Trump, by the way,
- 6:16Speaker 3: claimed would hold forever, would last forever, and it hasn't
- 6:21Speaker 3: lasted a matter of hours now. In total, over the
- 6:25Speaker 3: past two weeks or so, Iran has fired about nine
- 6:29Speaker 3: hundred and fifty missiles nine hundred and fifty all at
- 6:33Speaker 3: Israeli civilians. Eight thousand, one hundred and ninety civilians have
- 6:38Speaker 3: had to be evacuated from their homes. Twenty seven were
- 6:42Speaker 3: murdered and one two hundred and seventeen Israelis have been injured.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Iran's actions in breaching the ceasefire. It's just further proof,
- 6:52Speaker 3: not that you need it, that its only goal is
- 6:54Speaker 3: to cause death and destruction to Israel. Israelis had been
- 6:58Speaker 3: breathing a sigh of relief at the prospect of the ceasefire,
- 7:03Speaker 3: no more rushing to bomb shelters at all hours, fearing
- 7:06Speaker 3: for their lives. And so many families have been impacted
- 7:10Speaker 3: by the terror, the exhaustion, the destruction of homes, businesses,
- 7:14Speaker 3: even hospitals in suburban areas because the IIGC was only
- 7:20Speaker 3: targeting civilians in a reflection of its murderous intent. Now
- 7:26Speaker 3: Israel went into a run initially to dismantle its nuclear sites,
- 7:32Speaker 3: and it said it expected the operation would last around
- 7:35Speaker 3: two weeks now. Benjaminette Yaho sat on Sunday that he
- 7:39Speaker 3: felt these war goals were close to being achieved, so
- 7:44Speaker 3: this was where he was expecting it to go. He said,
- 7:47Speaker 3: when we achieve the goals, we will not continue with
- 7:49Speaker 3: actions beyond what is necessary, but we will not finish
- 7:53Speaker 3: too early. When the goals are achieved, the operation will stop.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Even after America's strikes on the nuclear site for Dough,
- 8:03Speaker 3: Israel then went in again and hit that underground nuclear
- 8:08Speaker 3: site with more missiles to completely destroy it or as
- 8:12Speaker 3: much as is possible from the air. In total, Israel
- 8:16Speaker 3: has bombed more than one thousand, one hundred military and
- 8:20Speaker 3: nuclear targets in Iran. That's the estimation, and this includes
- 8:24Speaker 3: missile production facilities, air defense batteries, and command centers, not
- 8:29Speaker 3: civilian areas. It has also hit IIGC headquarters, missile factories,
- 8:35Speaker 3: air bases, and even just since we went to air
- 8:38Speaker 3: last night, the gates of the Evan Prison. This prison
- 8:44Speaker 3: is a site of torture where Iranian Canadian photojournalist Zara
- 8:48Speaker 3: Kazemi was murdered in two thousand and three. Many other
- 8:53Speaker 3: dissidents faced the same fate. Israel blowing up its gate
- 8:58Speaker 3: its doors is a symbolic move designed to encourage Iranians
- 9:02Speaker 3: to take back control of their country. And thanks to
- 9:06Speaker 3: Israel and the US, the IIGC.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Has been crippled.
- 9:11Speaker 3: It is defeated, and yet as we're seeing tonight, it
- 9:15Speaker 3: refuses to surrender. The International Atomic Energy Agency has also
- 9:20Speaker 3: raised questions over the four hundred kilogram of enriched uranium,
- 9:25Speaker 3: but it says it verified just a few days before
- 9:29Speaker 3: Israel's military action began. Now, we had on the show
- 9:33Speaker 3: last night former idepificial Jonathan Conricus, and he addressed this,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and he said, it's hardly something that Israel would have forgotten.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I think assess that Israel has pretty good intel when
- 9:47Speaker 4: it comes to Iran. Israel has been collecting, assessing intel,
- 9:52Speaker 4: and preparing itself for this moment for quite a few years.
- 9:56Speaker 4: And I think, you know, I don't think that is
- 9:59Speaker 4: what would you know, forget to deal with such an
- 10:03Speaker 4: important and critical piece of ascid.
- 10:09Speaker 3: So Iran has been thoroughly defeated, its airspace surrendered to Israel,
- 10:14Speaker 3: its nuclear sites hit over and over again, yet it's
- 10:19Speaker 3: still breached. The ceasefire broken by the President of the
- 10:22Speaker 3: United States in a move that will only bring pain
- 10:25Speaker 3: onto its leadership. It was an idiotic strategic move. Israel
- 10:30Speaker 3: had raised the possibility of taking out the Supreme leader
- 10:33Speaker 3: Ayatola Ali Kamani, in the past few days, but it
- 10:37Speaker 3: wouldn't have done this after agreeing to the ceasefire. Israel
- 10:41Speaker 3: would have abided by the terms. Yet now that the
- 10:45Speaker 3: ceasefire is off, this action, along with any other, is
- 10:49Speaker 3: presumably back on the table. And this came after Iran
- 10:54Speaker 3: targeted the major US military air basing Qatar overnight in
- 10:58Speaker 3: retaliatory attacks for the American strike on its nuclear facilities.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Now it seemed like Iran was acting somewhat sensibly, wanting
- 11:08Speaker 3: to avoid ongoing war, and so it gave advance warning
- 11:11Speaker 3: to Katar. The airbase was evacuated, most of the missiles
- 11:15Speaker 3: were intercepted, and there were no casualties. But Katar, one
- 11:21Speaker 3: of Iran's only friends in the region, is now deeply unimpressed.
- 11:26Speaker 3: It summoned the Iranian ambassador as I said, the Katar
- 11:30Speaker 3: Prime minister is speaking right now as we got to
- 11:33Speaker 3: air and its foreign minister has said that it does
- 11:36Speaker 3: retain the right to respond to this egregious violation. Now
- 11:42Speaker 3: Week two have been those who came out in support
- 11:45Speaker 3: of the Iranian regime as America weighed strikes on its
- 11:49Speaker 3: nuclear facilities, and the chief cheerleader was Tucker Carlson. His
- 11:54Speaker 3: predictions of mass American deaths and the start of World
- 11:57Speaker 3: War III were entirely unfounded, and it turns out that
- 12:02Speaker 3: he phoned Donald Trump to apologize a few days ago.
- 12:07Speaker 5: Tucker's aska he called an apologized the other day because
- 12:11Speaker 5: he thought he said thanks that were only too strong
- 12:14Speaker 5: and I appreciated that. And Ted Cruz is an x gay.
- 12:17Speaker 5: I mean, he's been with me for a long time.
- 12:19Speaker 5: M'd say once the race was over, he's been with
- 12:21Speaker 5: me ever since.
- 12:23Speaker 3: But Taker should also apologize to his sixteen million followers
- 12:26Speaker 3: for stirring up hatred based on false propositions. And Albanize
- 12:31Speaker 3: could too apologize to Australians for letting us down so severely,
- 12:36Speaker 3: because that is exactly what he's done. Scott Morrison told
- 12:40Speaker 3: me last night that Albaneze should have called a national
- 12:43Speaker 3: security meeting on Sunday and come out immediately to support
- 12:47Speaker 3: America and Israel. There's no question that's what Morrison would
- 12:52Speaker 3: have done, and he believes other former prime ministers on
- 12:55Speaker 3: both sides as well, including Howard Rudd and Gillard, says
- 13:00Speaker 3: they had the same instincts to support the US Alliance.
- 13:05Speaker 3: This is your message to the alban Easy government. Now
- 13:08Speaker 3: you're saying, stop being ambiguous when it comes to foreign policy,
- 13:12Speaker 3: Support our allies.
- 13:13Speaker 2: That's what you're saying. Isn't it.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Of course, I mean the United States for those who
- 13:17Speaker 6: want to live in the fairyland that thinks that without
- 13:20Speaker 6: an alliance with the United States we somehow have a
- 13:23Speaker 6: defense arrangement, that somehow Australia would be the only country
- 13:28Speaker 6: other than the United States that would be able to
- 13:30Speaker 6: resist the type of potential offense that would be leveled
- 13:36Speaker 6: at Australia and do it in isolation.
- 13:38Speaker 1: This is absolute la la land. The United States is
- 13:42Speaker 1: our most important ally.
- 13:44Speaker 6: And whether it was the Howard government or was with
- 13:46Speaker 6: my government, whether it was during times of the rug government,
- 13:50Speaker 6: the Gillad government, there was an instinctive, an instinctive alignment
- 13:57Speaker 6: with the United States. And I can't tell you why
- 14:01Speaker 6: he waited until today before saying something.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I don't know the answer to that question.
- 14:07Speaker 6: If you're the United States and you take an action
- 14:10Speaker 6: like this, and it wouldn't.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Have been an easy call for the president.
- 14:15Speaker 6: This is not something he would have been rushing to do,
- 14:17Speaker 6: itching to do, but you'd want to know your allies
- 14:22Speaker 6: were with you, and how hard is it to go?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Well done, mister President.
- 14:28Speaker 6: I'm taking out the nu killer capabilities of a despotic
- 14:32Speaker 6: authoritarian regime that you know, imposes all sorts of extinguishment
- 14:38Speaker 6: of liberties on their own people.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Now you're seeing at the bottom of your screen live
- 14:46Speaker 3: shots from the Andrews Airbase in Marylands. We're waiting for
- 14:50Speaker 3: the President of the United States, Donald Trump to turn up.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He's going to take that flight to NATO. He may
- 14:56Speaker 2: speak to the media.
- 14:57Speaker 3: If he does, we'll go straight to the President the
- 15:00Speaker 3: United States.
- 15:01Speaker 2: But just to explain, that is the shot you're looking
- 15:03Speaker 2: at there.
- 15:03Speaker 3: We're waiting for Donald Trump to turn up and to
- 15:06Speaker 3: see if he does comment on the news that the
- 15:08Speaker 3: ceasefire that he announced just hours ago has now collapsed.
- 15:13Speaker 3: But back to Scott Morrison, I mean, it shouldn't be
- 15:15Speaker 3: so refreshing to hear that kind of moral clarity.
- 15:19Speaker 2: In fact, this should be the bare minimum we.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Expect up from our Prime minister and our foreign minister.
- 15:24Speaker 3: But they've made their bed, they've damaged the relationship with
- 15:28Speaker 3: America and they're going to have to live with the consequences.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Now what we're.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Experiencing now, you just have to say, there are days
- 15:36Speaker 3: in life that will be entirely forgotten. No record in
- 15:40Speaker 3: the history books, nothing of note to jog our memories
- 15:43Speaker 3: and then there are days like these ones, deeply consequential
- 15:48Speaker 3: that could never be erased from memory. And we've all
- 15:51Speaker 3: just lived through one of the most momentous periods in
- 15:54Speaker 3: modern history, where heroes emerged and those lacking in curry
- 16:00Speaker 3: and conviction were exposed. The Trump ded in Yahoo partnership
- 16:05Speaker 3: has shown the world what peace through strength can look like,
- 16:09Speaker 3: yet again, what American deterrence looks like. If the likes
- 16:15Speaker 3: of Albernezi and Tucker Carlson are remembered in the historical
- 16:18Speaker 3: retelling of this story at all, and they probably won't be,
- 16:22Speaker 3: it will be for sitting on the wrong side of history. Okay,
- 16:32Speaker 3: for more on the situation. Now, let's cross live to
- 16:34Speaker 3: Israel with farm Israeli government spokesperson Elon Levy. Elon, great
- 16:39Speaker 3: to see you again. Yet another difficult day. So reports
- 16:43Speaker 3: that Iran has broken the ceasefire two missiles sent into
- 16:47Speaker 3: northern Israel. We've heard in the past hour from Defense
- 16:50Speaker 3: Minister Israel katz He says the IDF will respond forcefully. Elon,
- 16:55Speaker 3: what are we expecting to see from here?
- 16:59Speaker 7: Indeed, the Iranian regime violated the ceasefire this morning with
- 17:02Speaker 7: missile fire at northern Israel, just hours after a deadly
- 17:06Speaker 7: barrowge that killed four people in an apartment block in Beershemba,
- 17:11Speaker 7: and Israel is now saying it will respond fortully. And
- 17:14Speaker 7: I want to explain why, because there are going to
- 17:16Speaker 7: be people around the world who are going to tell
- 17:18Speaker 7: Israel just turn a blind eye. It was only one
- 17:22Speaker 7: or two ballistic missiles. There's no need to respond to Iran.
- 17:25Speaker 7: Just let it go by in this walk and disappear.
- 17:28Speaker 7: I want to explain why Israel is not going back
- 17:31Speaker 7: to the world that existed on October sixth, before this
- 17:36Speaker 7: war started, when the Iranian regime tried one provocation after
- 17:41Speaker 7: the next until tensions reached a boiling point. The Iranian
- 17:45Speaker 7: regime strategy is to try to boil Israel like a frog.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Do you know what happens to a frog when you
- 17:50Speaker 7: put it in boiling water? If you put it in
- 17:52Speaker 7: water and then slowly turn up the heat, it doesn't
- 17:55Speaker 7: realize that the water is getting hotter and hotter until
- 17:58Speaker 7: eventually it dies. That's what the Rae regime wants to
- 18:01Speaker 7: do to keep pushing boundaries. It'll be one missile from here,
- 18:05Speaker 7: another missile from there. We've had this before when it
- 18:08Speaker 7: was claimed that Hamas didn't really shoot a missile, that
- 18:10Speaker 7: was just lightning that set it off accidentally, until we
- 18:13Speaker 7: reach a point where Israel finds itself confronting a massive threat.
- 18:17Speaker 1: From the Iranian regime.
- 18:18Speaker 7: So this is Israel saying we are not going to
- 18:21Speaker 7: tolerate any violations of the ceasefire or else you're just
- 18:26Speaker 7: paving the way to the next war. It's important we
- 18:29Speaker 7: have a de escalation. It's important the Israel Iran war end,
- 18:33Speaker 7: but it cannot end with the Iranian regime pushing the
- 18:37Speaker 7: boundaries to see how far it can go and how
- 18:40Speaker 7: much it can get away within attacking Israel.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And of course we should know that Iran has denied
- 18:46Speaker 3: sending those two missiles into northern Israel. There's no other
- 18:50Speaker 3: legitimate explanation for where those missiles came from, however, and
- 18:54Speaker 3: presumably Israel has tracked them to Tehran. But elin you know,
- 18:59Speaker 3: the question is, why would Iran have done this? Why
- 19:02Speaker 3: would it have agreed to a cease fire with the
- 19:05Speaker 3: president and then broken it just a few hours later.
- 19:08Speaker 3: You know, you say it's testing the boundaries, but it
- 19:11Speaker 3: is already thoroughly crippled. The regimes hanging on by a thread.
- 19:15Speaker 3: What possible self interest is there?
- 19:19Speaker 7: The Iranian regime has comprehensively lost this war with Israel.
- 19:25Speaker 7: It's impossible to exaggerate Israel's achievements.
- 19:28Speaker 1: In twelve days, the.
- 19:29Speaker 7: Iranian regime managed to bomb a hospital, a cancer research clinic,
- 19:34Speaker 7: a treatment clinic for disabled children, and people's homes. Israel
- 19:39Speaker 7: managed to cripple its ballistic missile industry, decapitate its military leadership,
- 19:44Speaker 7: and together with the United States, totally destroy.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Its nuclear program.
- 19:48Speaker 7: The Iranian regime was not in a position to respond
- 19:51Speaker 7: with Israeli jets controlling the skies of Tehran, and.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It had to agree to a cease fire.
- 19:56Speaker 7: But the Iranian regime has been humiliated, and that means
- 20:02Speaker 7: that it is still dangerous. Israel has managed to eliminate
- 20:06Speaker 7: the existential threats of a nuclear Iran and Iran with
- 20:11Speaker 7: ballistic missiles, and the world should say thank you. But
- 20:14Speaker 7: Iran is still dangerous. And you know, I know your
- 20:17Speaker 7: show has really bravely platformed so many Iranian expats who
- 20:21Speaker 7: are hoping this would lead to the fall of the regime.
- 20:25Speaker 7: And I think the exiled Crown Prince Raza Pahlavi put
- 20:28Speaker 7: it so well yesterday, warning that the Iranian regime is
- 20:33Speaker 7: going to lash out. It's not going to go without
- 20:36Speaker 7: a fight because it's been humiliated. And as long as
- 20:40Speaker 7: Iran is controlled by a fundamentalistic, totalitarian, despotic regime whose
- 20:48Speaker 7: policy is death to Israel and death to the United States,
- 20:52Speaker 7: it will continue to try to establish chaos to try
- 20:56Speaker 7: to gain control of the Middle East, and no one.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Will be truly safe.
- 21:00Speaker 7: So the Uranian regime not an exist central threat anymore,
- 21:04Speaker 7: but still a ticking time, Bob.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Just finally quickly, Elinor. You're very prominent on x and
- 21:10Speaker 3: on social media. There's a cry, there's a lot of
- 21:15Speaker 3: claims that Israel hasn't done the job Americas and done
- 21:19Speaker 3: the job in completely destroying the nuclear sites. This speculation
- 21:23Speaker 3: is rife. What would you say to that.
- 21:27Speaker 7: Look, Israel and the United States are going to be
- 21:30Speaker 7: performing the final analysis of the damage from those devastating
- 21:33Speaker 7: air strikes, But right now it looks like Natans and
- 21:37Speaker 7: Istahanzak were completely destroyed and four Doux has either been
- 21:41Speaker 7: completely destroyed or massively degraded with Israel bombing the access room.
- 21:47Speaker 7: The current estimation according to US intelligence is that Iran's
- 21:52Speaker 7: four hundred kilos of highly enriched uranium are buried underneath
- 21:56Speaker 7: the mountain and are completely inaccessible. So we're way for
- 22:00Speaker 7: the final assessment. But the Iranian nuclear program has either
- 22:04Speaker 7: been set back by years or completely destroyed. And it
- 22:07Speaker 7: looks like if Iran wants a Newclaire program, it's going
- 22:11Speaker 7: to have to build one from scratch.
- 22:13Speaker 3: All right, Elan Lee, the appreciate your time as always,
- 22:16Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Now let's bring it now.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Former Liberal senator, sorry, current Liberal Senator and former Australian
- 22:22Speaker 3: Ambassador to Israel, Dave Sharma.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Dave, great to see you again.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Now, this news tonight very concerning that Iran has breached
- 22:32Speaker 3: the ceasefire agreement broken by Donald Trump just this morning
- 22:36Speaker 3: our time.
- 22:37Speaker 2: What's your response to this news.
- 22:41Speaker 8: Look, you know we've had mixed signals from Iran. We've
- 22:45Speaker 8: had some suggestion that if dayas stopped, if Israel's cease
- 22:50Speaker 8: is attacking them, they will stop responding in kind, but
- 22:54Speaker 8: they haven't explicitly agreed to a cease fire. You also
- 22:57Speaker 8: need to bear in mind that we don't know how
- 22:59Speaker 8: well command and control arrangements are working in Aram. I've
- 23:02Speaker 8: lost a number of the senior military leaders. I think
- 23:05Speaker 8: the Supreme Leader is in hiding somewhere, so it's not
- 23:09Speaker 8: necessarily the case that they can give an order and
- 23:11Speaker 8: everyone will follow it. And there's the possibility that there's
- 23:15Speaker 8: been a breakdown internally in Irani too, where the leadership
- 23:19Speaker 8: wanted to observe a cease fire, but elements of the
- 23:21Speaker 8: IIGC did not. But it's very hard to know at
- 23:25Speaker 8: this stage.
- 23:27Speaker 3: That's a really interesting point that I haven't heard made yet,
- 23:30Speaker 3: but that is fascinating that it might have been a
- 23:33Speaker 3: different group or different officials, military officials not under the
- 23:36Speaker 3: control of the IIGC. I just want to ask you
- 23:39Speaker 3: about the significance overnight of Israel destroying the gates of
- 23:44Speaker 3: Evan prison and also the destruction of the so called
- 23:47Speaker 3: Israel Clock in Tehran.
- 23:50Speaker 8: Well, I think what this is intended to do is
- 23:53Speaker 8: send a signal to Iran that if they don't cease
- 23:57Speaker 8: their responses, then the next set of Israeli targets a
- 24:00Speaker 8: political or institutional in nature, no longer going to be
- 24:04Speaker 8: just limited to military installations, and Evan prisoners are particularly
- 24:08Speaker 8: potent symbol. I mean Evan prisoners where political detainees and
- 24:12Speaker 8: hostages are held and mistreated. An Australian citizen, Kylie Moore Gilbert,
- 24:18Speaker 8: was held there for a number of years. And I
- 24:21Speaker 8: know this is you know, it's a place that has
- 24:23Speaker 8: resonance with human rights activists and people who fight for
- 24:27Speaker 8: freedom around the world. So I think this was intended
- 24:30Speaker 8: to send a message by a Israel to Iran that
- 24:32Speaker 8: if they don't cease their continued missile attacks against civilian areas,
- 24:37Speaker 8: it should be make clear they are targeting civilian areas
- 24:40Speaker 8: in Israel, including mosques and synagogues, then Israel will accelerate,
- 24:48Speaker 8: if you like, or escalate the sort of tut things
- 24:50Speaker 8: they're targeting.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Just in terms of the broader vision for the region
- 24:56Speaker 3: that we've heard expressed over for many years by the
- 25:00Speaker 3: he's ready Prime Minister in Adinyahu. You know he's keen
- 25:02Speaker 3: to have an expansion of the Abraham Accords, work in
- 25:05Speaker 3: partnership with Donald Trump to achieve that.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Does it give you.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Hope that during this war with the Run that some
- 25:12Speaker 3: of the other Arab nations did assist Israel in downing
- 25:16Speaker 3: Iranian missiles in their airspace, either they helped in intercepting
- 25:20Speaker 3: them or allowed Israel to.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Do so in their airspace. What do you think about that?
- 25:25Speaker 8: Well, I think, look, one of these unspoken truths in
- 25:28Speaker 8: the Middle East is that most or all in fact,
- 25:33Speaker 8: of Iran's neighbors are concerned about its nuclear weapons program.
- 25:37Speaker 8: It's ballistic missile activities that support to terrorist groups, often
- 25:41Speaker 8: in their own countries, and the fact that it's you know,
- 25:44Speaker 8: destabilizing activities have hurt their own countries and their own people.
- 25:48Speaker 8: So many Arab golf states, while they will not say
- 25:52Speaker 8: this publicly, will be quietly pleased that Iran's ambitions have
- 25:57Speaker 8: been humbled. And I think they were like a future
- 26:01Speaker 8: where they can focus on the governance of their country
- 26:04Speaker 8: the development of their people, but also have open diplomatic
- 26:07Speaker 8: relations with Israel. But if you look at the history
- 26:10Speaker 8: of the region, I mean, the single most destabilizing a
- 26:13Speaker 8: negative force in the region over the last two decades
- 26:16Speaker 8: has been Iran. It's armed proxies. I mean, Iran has
- 26:19Speaker 8: made Lebanon and Yemen ungovernable. It's made democratic Iraq struggle.
- 26:25Speaker 8: It propped up Asad in Syria for ten years beyond
- 26:29Speaker 8: his expiring day, and of course armed and funded and
- 26:33Speaker 8: trained Hamas and HEZBLA, which directly attacked Israel. None of
- 26:36Speaker 8: those things would have been happening without Iran, and it's
- 26:39Speaker 8: very aggressive regional policy, it's ambition to be the regional hedgemon.
- 26:44Speaker 8: And with an Iran that is at least weak and
- 26:47Speaker 8: the rest of the region can breathe a sigh of relief.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Indeed, all right, Dave Sharma, really appreciate your time once
- 26:54Speaker 3: again on this very newsy night.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Thank you so much for joining me.
- 26:59Speaker 9: Now.
- 26:59Speaker 3: There's been a lot of discussion about this new partnership
- 27:02Speaker 3: or not too much new, but a formidable partnership that
- 27:05Speaker 3: has been forged between Trump and Nette and Yahoo and
- 27:08Speaker 3: professor of American politics at the University of Melbourne Timothy
- 27:11Speaker 3: Lynch has written about it and he says the pair
- 27:14Speaker 3: actually have much in common with Thatcher and Reagan, and
- 27:18Speaker 3: tim Lynch joins me now, thank you very much for
- 27:21Speaker 3: your time. So tell me about why you think Trump
- 27:25Speaker 3: and Nette and Yah who are forming a similarly strong partnership,
- 27:30Speaker 3: and how significant is it in our age.
- 27:35Speaker 9: Great to be here, Sherry, I think there's a even
- 27:38Speaker 9: though Trump is regarded as something of an a moralist,
- 27:43Speaker 9: somebody that's taken positions against the more moral positions of
- 27:47Speaker 9: someone like George W.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Bush.
- 27:50Speaker 9: What brings him together with bb Nette Yahoo is a
- 27:54Speaker 9: very clear notion of right and wrong, of good and evil,
- 28:00Speaker 9: and perhaps more than that, and this puts him in
- 28:02Speaker 9: the Thatcher Reagan puts them both in the Thatcher Reagan
- 28:05Speaker 9: mold a willingness to deploy hard military power to shift
- 28:09Speaker 9: that balance. Now, I'm not saying it's a perfect historical analogy,
- 28:14Speaker 9: but one of the most successful features of the relationship
- 28:17Speaker 9: between those two leaders in the nineteen eighties was the
- 28:21Speaker 9: end of the Soviet Union, a remarkable political geostrategic feat
- 28:25Speaker 9: that nobody in nineteen eighty nobody in nineteen eighty eight
- 28:29Speaker 9: saw coming, and that victory was won by taking some
- 28:33Speaker 9: fairly simple maxim maxims that capitalism works, democracy is good
- 28:40Speaker 9: and popular, and that their opposites a communism in the
- 28:45Speaker 9: Soviet Union, don't. And a willingness to actually deploy military force.
- 28:51Speaker 9: First in the Falklands, where Thatcher was instrumental in bringing
- 28:54Speaker 9: down a fascist regime, and in Reagan's is certainly in
- 29:01Speaker 9: his first term containment of communism. It weakened those regimes
- 29:06Speaker 9: in a way that all the sophisticated approaches of political
- 29:09Speaker 9: scientists and leftist philosophers.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Didn't do.
- 29:14Speaker 9: And I think Trump and let Nyahu are recycling though,
- 29:17Speaker 9: that simple approach to world affairs.
- 29:21Speaker 3: A return to the values that underpin our Western civilization,
- 29:25Speaker 3: if you like, which have become so confused in recent times.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I've even heard some commentators compare Trump's move to strike
- 29:33Speaker 3: Iran's nuclear sites with this famous moment.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Mister Gorbatschoff teared down this war.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Tim do you think there are similarities here with the
- 29:51Speaker 3: significance of the statements.
- 29:54Speaker 9: Yes, I think Reagan, it's the great force of light,
- 30:00Speaker 9: the great ringing endorsement. I think of America's Cold War strategy,
- 30:04Speaker 9: tear down this wall.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And it was.
- 30:08Speaker 9: It was given in Berlin in the face of all
- 30:11Speaker 9: sorts of opposition his from American diplomats and his advisors.
- 30:16Speaker 9: But Reagan took the decision to paint the conflict in
- 30:21Speaker 9: moral terms, in black and white terms. And I think Trump,
- 30:25Speaker 9: even though he's tempted away from this moral approach to
- 30:30Speaker 9: global affairs, is also a bit of a sucker for it.
- 30:34Speaker 9: I don't think he's a great student of history, but
- 30:36Speaker 9: he would recognize the great communicator in Ronald Reagan. He
- 30:41Speaker 9: styles himself, of course, as a man that's mastered the
- 30:44Speaker 9: medium of television. He knows how to look strong in
- 30:48Speaker 9: front of a camera. Look at how he reacted to
- 30:51Speaker 9: the attempted assassination in Pennsylvania last summer, northern summer. He's
- 30:57Speaker 9: got a theatrical style, which I think his opponents, certainly
- 31:04Speaker 9: in the United States, haven't given him enough credit for politics.
- 31:08Speaker 9: And war is about theater. If you want another example,
- 31:12Speaker 9: and it's not Thatcher, look at Winston Churchill. He understood
- 31:15Speaker 9: that war is a populist activity. It's about geeing up
- 31:19Speaker 9: the troops and the people. And Trump seems to have
- 31:24Speaker 9: a bit of a knack when it comes to this.
- 31:26Speaker 9: The great internationalists like Barack Obama and Joe Biden got
- 31:32Speaker 9: terribly confused and ended up skid daddling from conflicts speaking
- 31:36Speaker 9: the language of diplomacy in negotiation, and had much less
- 31:41Speaker 9: impact on the bad guys than Donald Trump with his
- 31:44Speaker 9: gut instinct and very televisual understanding of diplomacy.
- 31:50Speaker 3: No, indeed, and I loved your analysis there. My only
- 31:53Speaker 3: hope was that Trump was going to come out with
- 31:55Speaker 3: something poetic or significant, some profound words, and his press
- 32:00Speaker 3: conference on Sunday, which he didn't do. Perhaps he needs
- 32:04Speaker 3: a new speech.
- 32:05Speaker 9: He's not a poet, of course, is he. But I
- 32:07Speaker 9: thought that was a very effective five minutes. It was
- 32:11Speaker 9: residential speech.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You're buying, No, it was indeed, it was indeed all right,
- 32:15Speaker 3: Timothy Lynch, appreciate your time.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Love that segment. Thank you so much. Now still to.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Came ol lies on Air Force One as President Trump
- 32:22Speaker 3: prepares to take off for NATO as the ceasefire collapses,
- 32:27Speaker 3: Classive alban Easy hadn't already shredded our international standing, his
- 32:30Speaker 3: bungled handling of the American strikes has certainly done it.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Now Camra Milner and Andrew Caswell will assess the damage next.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Welcome back if you're just joining us.
- 32:44Speaker 9: Now.
- 32:44Speaker 3: The ceasefire between Israel and Iran looks to have collapsed.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Iran has fired two missiles into northern Israel, and Israel's
- 32:53Speaker 3: Defense Minister Israel Katz has vowed to respond forcefully in
- 32:58Speaker 3: the heart of Tehran. So this ceasefire, announced just this
- 33:02Speaker 3: morning our time by the President of the United States,
- 33:05Speaker 3: which he predicted would last forever, hasn't lasted a matter
- 33:09Speaker 3: of hours. With Iran firing a missile into northern Israel. Now,
- 33:15Speaker 3: the Albenzi government has been rightly criticized for being too
- 33:19Speaker 3: slow to endorse America's strikes on Iran. I mean Albanezi
- 33:23Speaker 3: and Penny one could barely endorse that action. They did
- 33:27Speaker 3: so through gritted teeth. Now, Morrison last night and this
- 33:31Speaker 3: show said it was a departure from previous Labor governments.
- 33:37Speaker 6: Whether it was during times of the Rug government, the
- 33:39Speaker 6: Gillad government, there was an instinctive, an instinctive alignment with
- 33:46Speaker 6: the United States.
- 33:48Speaker 3: All right, and let's bring our panel our Bill Shotten's
- 33:51Speaker 3: former chief of staff, Camer Milner and Scott Morrison's former
- 33:54Speaker 3: media advisor Andrew Carswell. Well, Cameron, you're also a former
- 33:58Speaker 3: Labor State secretary.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Do you think Morrison's right?
- 34:03Speaker 10: Well, I think Scott's nailed it. I mean, there is
- 34:05Speaker 10: a very big difference between hawk Keating Rad Gillard and
- 34:09Speaker 10: this appalling, appalling foreign policy that we're seeing from Wong
- 34:12Speaker 10: and then enunciated by a weak elbow. And that's the
- 34:15Speaker 10: problem Labor's got is that is that Wong is an
- 34:17Speaker 10: ideologue and Albow is weak, and that combination is toxic,
- 34:21Speaker 10: toxic for our foreign affairs and also incredibly damaging for
- 34:24Speaker 10: our allies in the US and the UK. How can
- 34:26Speaker 10: we not how can we not reward the US and
- 34:29Speaker 10: Israel for that matter, for actually eliminating a nuclear capacity
- 34:32Speaker 10: in that Islamist regime Iran. I mean, these guys are
- 34:35Speaker 10: extremists and they're about to have a nuclear war a
- 34:38Speaker 10: nuclear warhead available to them. That is the mission that
- 34:41Speaker 10: Israel and the US signed up for. And we should
- 34:43Speaker 10: have been incredibly grateful as a nation. Instead we look
- 34:46Speaker 10: in simpate and weak, and it's incredibly embarrassing I think
- 34:48Speaker 10: for Australia under Albernese and under labor as it currently stands.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Yeah, completely agree, I mean, andrew this government, it's bizarre
- 34:56Speaker 3: that it's so hesitant to support our closest ally.
- 35:02Speaker 1: It will Shari.
- 35:03Speaker 11: We've become irrelevant on the on the world stage under
- 35:06Speaker 11: this government, and it's such a crucial hour as well
- 35:10Speaker 11: to become irrelevant. And we've become irrelevant not only because
- 35:13Speaker 11: of the lack of actions that we're taking in supporting
- 35:16Speaker 11: our partners and our allies, which we should be doing.
- 35:19Speaker 11: It's not only because of the timidity in the way
- 35:21Speaker 11: that we approach these issues. But it's because of the
- 35:24Speaker 11: language that we employ to respond to these kind of moments.
- 35:27Speaker 11: As we saw yesterday, this timidity, this insipid language that's
- 35:31Speaker 11: directly from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade song sheet.
- 35:37Speaker 11: It's not you know, Albanezi and Wang stood up yesterday
- 35:41Speaker 11: and said what was not in their heart they just
- 35:43Speaker 11: read from a sheet that was in front of them,
- 35:45Speaker 11: is not what they think, it's not what they believe,
- 35:48Speaker 11: and it shows in the outcome. And we've had a
- 35:49Speaker 11: steady stream of Prime ministers of all stripes in this
- 35:53Speaker 11: country that have stood up for this country, that have
- 35:55Speaker 11: stepped forward, that have elbows elbow their way to the
- 35:59Speaker 11: front of the queue of Wealth Affairs and sat at
- 36:01Speaker 11: that table. And they've done it because they've showed up
- 36:03Speaker 11: for their allies. They've showed up in those moments, and
- 36:06Speaker 11: we're not seeing this with this administration. They love the
- 36:09Speaker 11: safety of the sidelines.
- 36:11Speaker 3: No, it's well put, the safety of the sidelines, but
- 36:14Speaker 3: in fact it's not so safe because now Orcus might
- 36:18Speaker 3: even be at risk because Albanizi refuses to increase defense spending,
- 36:22Speaker 3: something that the rest of the world is doing. I mean,
- 36:24Speaker 3: Cameron Milner, you've written about this in your column in
- 36:27Speaker 3: The Nightly, So you know, do you agree that Albinizi
- 36:31Speaker 3: is in fact threatening orcus.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Well?
- 36:35Speaker 10: I do, and my article tonight says that if you
- 36:38Speaker 10: look at Labour's actions under Albanese, which are weak and
- 36:41Speaker 10: to your point, Andrew insipid and timid, they're not what
- 36:44Speaker 10: you would expect of an ally who wants to have
- 36:46Speaker 10: three Virginia class nuclear submarines as part of an orcus alliance.
- 36:52Speaker 10: I mean, what if Albo had those three subs in
- 36:54Speaker 10: perthin decided that diplomacy with Tehran was more important than
- 36:57Speaker 10: deploying them to bomb the living daylights the nuclear capacity
- 37:01Speaker 10: of a run that's what's at risk. And elbow is
- 37:03Speaker 10: so weak and so not an ally at the moment,
- 37:06Speaker 10: and you're right, not spinning nearly enough on defense as
- 37:09Speaker 10: a nation that you wonder why the US and the
- 37:11Speaker 10: UK would continue to carry a weak elbow and a
- 37:14Speaker 10: labor government that's not doing enough as an ally.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Andrew, do you think the Coalition has been strong enough
- 37:22Speaker 3: in this area as well under Susan Lee. I mean,
- 37:25Speaker 3: we know Peter Dutton his instincts were spot on, but
- 37:28Speaker 3: some of the Coalition statements have been quite weak.
- 37:31Speaker 2: What do you think, Well.
- 37:34Speaker 11: I think, as Scott said last night, the instinct of
- 37:37Speaker 11: the coalition is usually right in this regards, and I
- 37:40Speaker 11: think the le opposition is just feeling their way a
- 37:44Speaker 11: little bit on these issues. They need to get on
- 37:47Speaker 11: board very quickly and get the language settings right to
- 37:51Speaker 11: showcase that they understand these issues, that they're aggressively pursuing
- 37:57Speaker 11: those alliance partnerships from a position of opposition. So I
- 38:02Speaker 11: think yes, they need to tighten that language. They need
- 38:04Speaker 11: to lift up the language a bit to really convey
- 38:08Speaker 11: what's sitting behind them.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Do you agree with that, Cameron? I mean I think
- 38:13Speaker 3: they need to toughen up a lot. You know, I
- 38:15Speaker 3: have Dave Sharma on the show all the time, but
- 38:18Speaker 3: he's not even in a shadow ministry. Susan Lee didn't
- 38:21Speaker 3: even give him a role. And not to put down
- 38:25Speaker 3: the others that are in those positions, but they need
- 38:27Speaker 3: to be tough. They need to be more forthcoming because
- 38:31Speaker 3: this is the biggest story in the world. The Albanezy
- 38:34Speaker 3: government is nowhere and the opposition should be hammering this hard,
- 38:38Speaker 3: not just for their own political interests, but for our
- 38:42Speaker 3: national security, but for our standing in the world.
- 38:46Speaker 10: Cameron, I couldn't agree more, couldn't agree more, Shari couldn't
- 38:49Speaker 10: agree more. But I think Andrew Hasty, to his credit,
- 38:51Speaker 10: has actually stood up over the last severy two hours
- 38:53Speaker 10: and said what need to be said in terms of
- 38:55Speaker 10: the Liberal Party position. But it's the role of government, Shari.
- 38:59Speaker 10: Governments are expect to lead their nations governments. Australians are
- 39:02Speaker 10: calling out for their political leadership the person they voted
- 39:05Speaker 10: in only as recently as May the second to actually
- 39:08Speaker 10: show some global leadership. And to your point, Andrew, he's
- 39:11Speaker 10: dealed himself out of the game. Albert wants to be irrelevant.
- 39:13Speaker 10: I mean, you know, hiding on the sidelines, you know,
- 39:16Speaker 10: being dumped by Trump. That's what he actually wants to do,
- 39:19Speaker 10: rather than stepping up as a solid ally of the
- 39:22Speaker 10: superpowers like the UK and the US, where we've always
- 39:25Speaker 10: been as a nation and we're stronger together.
- 39:28Speaker 3: And now we're seeing the news at Albanezi so vindictive.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Apparently he wants to cut the number of staff allocated
- 39:34Speaker 3: to the Liberal Party.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Andrew, what do you think about this move?
- 39:39Speaker 11: Well, it's just poor Foreman and it's just unnecessary as well.
- 39:42Speaker 11: I mean, the oppositions is in a world to paint
- 39:46Speaker 11: at the moment. They need to get their their things
- 39:51Speaker 11: moving and this will not help them in that cause.
- 39:54Speaker 11: And look, the government doesn't need to necessarily help them.
- 39:57Speaker 11: They need to do the right thing. And they've got
- 39:59Speaker 11: form on the board in these kind of regards as
- 40:01Speaker 11: well in the way that they approach the cross bench
- 40:03Speaker 11: in the last term as well, where they cut back
- 40:05Speaker 11: the numbers. I know how hard those cross benches work.
- 40:08Speaker 11: I don't necessarily agree with what they say and what
- 40:11Speaker 11: the positions they stand for, but they work hard and
- 40:14Speaker 11: they deserve the proper staff to be able to do
- 40:15Speaker 11: their jobs properly as the opposition does as well, to
- 40:17Speaker 11: be an effective opposition to hold the government to account.
- 40:21Speaker 3: All right, Andrew Carswell, Karra Milner, love having you on
- 40:25Speaker 3: as always on a Tuesday, and we are still standing
- 40:27Speaker 3: by to hear from the President of the United States.
- 40:30Speaker 2: He has not appeared to board that flight yet. We
- 40:33Speaker 2: will bring you the news when he does. We'll bring
- 40:36Speaker 2: it to you live straight away.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Now after the break, I'm joined by the former Directory
- 40:40Speaker 3: of the Military Prosecution for Judea and Sumaria or the
- 40:43Speaker 3: West Bank if you like, for the for the latest
- 40:46Speaker 3: on the collapsing ceasefire plus Sovie Ellsworth with the news
- 40:50Speaker 3: in the Middle East, as reports merge of.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Iran firing missiles. That's all coming up.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Welcome back with This is a live shot of Air
- 41:03Speaker 3: Force one at the Andrews Airbase in Maryland. We're waiting
- 41:07Speaker 3: for the President of the United States, Donald Trump to board.
- 41:10Speaker 3: He was due to depart around forty five minutes ago
- 41:14Speaker 3: at six am local time for a flight to NATO,
- 41:18Speaker 3: but he hasn't left yet. We can speculate, pure speculation,
- 41:23Speaker 3: he's having crisis talks after he announced a cease fire
- 41:27Speaker 3: this morning our time, which has now collapsed or appears
- 41:31Speaker 3: to have completely collapsed, with Israel vowing retaliation, forcefully, forceful
- 41:38Speaker 3: retaliation in the heart of Tehran after Iran fired two
- 41:42Speaker 3: missiles at northern Israel. So we're standing by to potentially
- 41:47Speaker 3: hear from the President of the United States. But now
- 41:50Speaker 3: let's bring in an impressive guest. Maurice Hirsh is the
- 41:53Speaker 3: former Director of Military Prosecution for Judea and Samaria, what
- 41:57Speaker 3: Israel calls the West Bank. He's also the current director
- 42:00Speaker 3: of the Initiative for Palestinian Authority, Accountability and Reform in
- 42:05Speaker 3: the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, Murrays, Welcome
- 42:08Speaker 3: to the show. Now, just as the ceasefire began, we
- 42:13Speaker 3: see that around fired missiles into Israel.
- 42:16Speaker 2: It is denying it did this. Do you have any
- 42:19Speaker 2: doubt at all?
- 42:21Speaker 12: There's absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Iran fired those missiles,
- 42:25Speaker 12: whether directly or indirectly.
- 42:27Speaker 1: There aren't missiles just.
- 42:28Speaker 12: Falling out of the sky suddenly targeting Israel's civilian population
- 42:32Speaker 12: as they have done for the last really two weeks.
- 42:36Speaker 12: This is a blatant breach by the Iranians, their attempt
- 42:40Speaker 12: to have the last say, no matter what, and to
- 42:43Speaker 12: try and save a little bit of face after their
- 42:47Speaker 12: entire military operation crumbled before Israel and the US, and
- 42:53Speaker 12: now they're trying to really ensure that they can present
- 42:56Speaker 12: what they have defined as a victory to the Iranian
- 43:00Speaker 12: people as a justification for carrying on their genocidal emission
- 43:05Speaker 12: to destroyers.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Now, over the past twelve days, Israel has reportedly hit
- 43:10Speaker 3: over one thousand military and nuclear sites in Iran. Israel
- 43:16Speaker 3: Cats tonight has pledged falstful response to Iran's breach of
- 43:21Speaker 3: the ceasefire agreement.
- 43:22Speaker 2: So you are there sites.
- 43:25Speaker 3: That Israel has held back or where do you expect
- 43:28Speaker 3: that this response will be.
- 43:31Speaker 12: Unfortunately, there are still scores, if not more, of military
- 43:35Speaker 12: targets in Iran. Their apparatus for creating the ballistic missiles
- 43:41Speaker 12: alone was extensive and spread over really hundreds of different sites.
- 43:47Speaker 12: If you then add on all of the nuclear sites
- 43:50Speaker 12: and the development of nuclear capabilities, the sites that were
- 43:53Speaker 12: spread all the way around Iran as well all the
- 43:56Speaker 12: different components that are needed in order to put together
- 44:01Speaker 12: that technology with the know how the enriched uranium to
- 44:06Speaker 12: make a nuclear bomb, it is quite an extent of
- 44:10Speaker 12: apparatus and there are still many targets for Israel to strike.
- 44:14Speaker 12: It's a shame really that the Iranian regime has brought
- 44:18Speaker 12: itself to the situation and has brought Israel to the
- 44:21Speaker 12: situation where it must respond, and respond it must if
- 44:25Speaker 12: we ignore this wasn't a small breach of the ceasefire.
- 44:29Speaker 12: This was a fundamental breach of the ceasefire.
- 44:32Speaker 1: And if we.
- 44:32Speaker 12: Don't hold Iran accountable and soon then they will understand
- 44:37Speaker 12: that they have permission to continue, possibly breaching the ceasefire
- 44:41Speaker 12: with our consequences, and that would be a bad message
- 44:44Speaker 12: for the entire region.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Now, Israel did agree to the ceasefire. Are you confident
- 44:50Speaker 3: that Natanya who wouldn't have done so unless Iran's nuclear
- 44:55Speaker 3: capability had been completely obliterated.
- 44:59Speaker 12: I think, as Rossel's government said, that the achievements that
- 45:03Speaker 12: we have made over the last twelve days really exceeded
- 45:07Speaker 12: all of our expectations. I think that if there was
- 45:10Speaker 12: still an opportunity that Iran could turn around tomorrow, that
- 45:14Speaker 12: the Iranian regime, sorry not Iran, that Iranian regime could
- 45:18Speaker 12: turn around tomorrow and return to rebuilding its nuclear capabilities,
- 45:23Speaker 12: then I don't think that Prime Minister Nitanial would have
- 45:25Speaker 12: agreed to any type of ceasefire. The goal was to
- 45:29Speaker 12: put that threat off the table for decades to come,
- 45:34Speaker 12: and I think that at least Israel's understanding of the
- 45:37Speaker 12: situation of the bomb assessment bomb damage assessment as it's
- 45:43Speaker 12: called BDA, has led us to understand that those goals
- 45:48Speaker 12: have been achieved and we can now at least for
- 45:52Speaker 12: the moment, cease our fire.
- 45:54Speaker 3: M All right, that's good to know that bomb damage assessment.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Maurice Hirsh, fantastic to have on the show, and I
- 46:00Speaker 3: hope to have you on once again, thank you very much.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Now after the.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Break, we'll go live to Israel yet again with the
- 46:07Speaker 3: very latest on the ceasefire deal with our Sky News
- 46:10Speaker 3: reporter Sophie Elsworth. Welcome back with the world is waiting
- 46:17Speaker 3: to hear from the President of the United States, Donald Trump,
- 46:20Speaker 3: who is due to take off any moment from Maryland
- 46:25Speaker 3: Air Force One. A helicopter has arrived at the air
- 46:29Speaker 3: Force base in.
- 46:29Speaker 2: The past few minutes.
- 46:31Speaker 3: It might be Marine one, so Donald Trump might be
- 46:35Speaker 3: arriving on that helicopter, set to board the plane to
- 46:38Speaker 3: head to NATO. If he appears, we're going to hear
- 46:41Speaker 3: from him straight away. He did announce this ceasefire that
- 46:44Speaker 3: has now utterly collapsed tonight, with Iran breaching it by
- 46:49Speaker 3: firing missiles into northern Israel.
- 46:51Speaker 2: You'd assume the President would be furious at this.
- 46:54Speaker 3: He had wanted to be in and out and have
- 46:57Speaker 3: a peaceful outcome.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Here out of this war.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Iran has now breached the ceasefire deal, and you can't
- 47:04Speaker 3: blame Israel for vowing to retaliate forcefully to this. All right,
- 47:08Speaker 3: as we're discussing this, let's bring in our news cop
- 47:10Speaker 3: correspondence Sky News contributer Sophie Elsworth, who's been in the
- 47:14Speaker 3: Middle East for the past week. Sophie, thank you so
- 47:17Speaker 3: much for joining us now. Now this has been a
- 47:19Speaker 3: massive past twelve hours or so. We were hoping to
- 47:23Speaker 3: have this lasting cease fire that now looks to have collapsed.
- 47:28Speaker 2: It has.
- 47:28Speaker 13: Indeed, Shari, when I was just in a car a
- 47:33Speaker 13: few hours ago, we had to pull over because I
- 47:37Speaker 13: received missile alerts on my phone, you know, telling you.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I'm just going to interrupt you now because we do
- 47:44Speaker 3: have some breaking news. Donald Trump has just tweeted or
- 47:49Speaker 3: posted on his truth Social He has said, Israel, do
- 47:53Speaker 3: not drop those bombs. If you do, it is a
- 47:56Speaker 3: major violation. Bring your pilots home now.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Donald J. Trump, President of the United States.
- 48:03Speaker 3: So this is Donald Trump taking to truth Social to
- 48:07Speaker 3: warn Israel not to drop bombs. He's saying Israel would
- 48:11Speaker 3: be in breach of the ceasefire. This is despite the
- 48:14Speaker 3: fact that Iran has fired those missiles of northern Israel.
- 48:19Speaker 3: This is absolutely extraordinary. Donald Trump could pick up the
- 48:23Speaker 3: phone to Ned and Yahoo they are close friends. But
- 48:27Speaker 3: instead he has taken to truth social to post this
- 48:30Speaker 3: and we could just see a shot of him there
- 48:33Speaker 3: through the helicopter, the chopper that's arriving at Andrew's airbase
- 48:37Speaker 3: at Maryland's. Now he's going to transfer from that shopper
- 48:41Speaker 3: into air Force one his other aircraft to take him
- 48:44Speaker 3: to NATO. But Donald Trump, that's not a live shot.
- 48:48Speaker 3: By the way of him walking, that is not a
- 48:50Speaker 3: live shot. So Donald Trump, so if he's taking to
- 48:52Speaker 3: social media to warn Israel his ally not to drop
- 48:57Speaker 3: bombs on Iran, let's take.
- 49:00Speaker 14: Now rocket that I guess was fired overboard, it was
- 49:03Speaker 14: after the time limit and it missed its target, and
- 49:08Speaker 14: now Israel is going out. These guys got to calm
- 49:10Speaker 14: down ridiculously.
- 49:14Speaker 15: I didn't like plenty of things I saw yesterday. I
- 49:16Speaker 15: didn't like the fact that is you unloaded right after
- 49:19Speaker 15: we made the deal. They didn't have to unload. And
- 49:22Speaker 15: I didn't like the fact that the retaliation was very strong.
- 49:26Speaker 15: But an old fairness is you unloaded a lot. And
- 49:29Speaker 15: now I hear is you just went out because they
- 49:31Speaker 15: felt it was violated by one.
- 49:34Speaker 14: Rocket that didn't land anywhere.
- 49:36Speaker 15: That's not what we want, I'll tell you, and I'm
- 49:38Speaker 15: telling you I'm not happy about that. Israel either, You
- 49:43Speaker 15: like it was played both sides. I'm going now, as
- 49:45Speaker 15: you know, Tornado. Some of you are going with me,
- 49:48Speaker 15: and I think it's going to be uh successful.
- 49:51Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 49:52Speaker 14: I'll let you up.
- 49:54Speaker 2: And you got into immens. You managed to achieve different plans,
- 50:03Speaker 2: all right.
- 50:03Speaker 3: That was moments earlier, Donald Trump speaking before he got
- 50:07Speaker 3: this chopper flight to the Andrews Air Base at Maryland's.
- 50:10Speaker 2: This is live.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Donald Trump has just stepped off this chopper flight after
- 50:14Speaker 3: posting to truth Social warning Israel not to drop bombs
- 50:19Speaker 3: on Iran.
- 50:20Speaker 2: This is extraordinary.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Donald Trump should be backing in Israel here his ally,
- 50:25Speaker 3: It's not Israel that breached the ceasefire. It's Iran in
- 50:28Speaker 3: first killing four Israeli civilians and then sending two missiles
- 50:33Speaker 3: into northern Israel after the ceasefire had been agreed to,
- 50:37Speaker 3: after arms had been laid down.
- 50:40Speaker 2: It was Iran who breached it.
- 50:41Speaker 3: And now the President of the United States, in a
- 50:44Speaker 3: move that's going to certainly unimpress Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Ettnyahu,
- 50:48Speaker 3: has taken to his truth Social to warn Israel not
- 50:52Speaker 3: to drop the bombs.
- 50:53Speaker 2: He says it would be a major violation.
- 50:55Speaker 3: We can see here now boarding air Force one heading
- 50:59Speaker 3: to NATO. We were expecting he might stop to speak
- 51:02Speaker 3: to the media. He hasn't done that, giving his famous
- 51:05Speaker 3: fist pump there as he boards the flight to NATO.
- 51:09Speaker 3: The NATO talks will now be, of course, dominated by
- 51:12Speaker 3: the fact the ceasefire has been broken and Israel Netiya,
- 51:16Speaker 3: who now has a big decision to make. Will it
- 51:18Speaker 3: pick a fight with Donald Trump and retaliate for those
- 51:23Speaker 3: missiles that breach the ceasefire deal, as Israel has vowed
- 51:27Speaker 3: to do, or will it go along with the President
- 51:31Speaker 3: of the United States and lay down arms. All right,
- 51:35Speaker 3: I'm going to cross over now to Paul Murray, who'll
- 51:38Speaker 3: continue this live coverage.
