- 2:38Waight. Let me welcome in now Hannah Gardner from the Canal Charles Dumain Association
- 2:40with this week's Adopt Me please head of the Wake. Hannah, good morning,
- 2:45welcome to the show. Hi, how are you? I am doing
- 2:49fine? I know it has been a rough couple of days for everybody up
- 2:53there at the shelter. We had to anchie from the shelter on yesterday.
- 2:55Of course, it was Wednesday that we learned about the U haul accident up
- 3:00there. I know you had actually take it a couple of days off or
- 3:01some some some medical things for a loved one. But I know that you
- 3:07know everything that's been going on up there. It's just been a rough couple
- 3:09of days up there at the shelter. Hannah, Yeah, it sure has,
- 3:14but you know, we're trucking along. We're figuring it out. So
- 3:19when I talked to Angie yesterday, she said that they were doing pretty good
- 3:23on the fosters. Do you have an update on that as far as getting
- 3:25those animals fostered out. I know when I left yesterday, I believe we
- 3:30had like, and I'm not one hundred and sure, but I believe it
- 3:34was around twelve to fourteen that still need a foster, you know, because
- 3:38everything is still up in the air, we're not really sure what's going on,
- 3:42So we're just trying to be prepared and get as many we're all out
- 3:45as we can in foster homes. But yes, we are definitely trying to
- 3:51get all the animals in foster homes, but we don't have too many.
- 3:54So if you want to come up and see what we do have, I
- 3:57recommend just coming right on up and we can tell what all we have and
- 4:00what would sit your lifestyle, and you can just explain to us what you
- 4:02have at Hold. Yeah, you guys have done a great job of updating
- 4:05the community and people that are concerned about this situation on your social media,
- 4:09But right now everybody's running around like crazy if they're trying to get fosters and
- 4:13whatever, So maybe don't depend on the social media right now. Just show
- 4:15up in person. Is that what you're saying, Yes, because everything's changing
- 4:18so fast, and we actually have had a lot of people up there lately,
- 4:21so if you're looking for a specific dog on a website, by the
- 4:26time you get up there, it may already be fostered. So just come
- 4:28on us and come up and a big shout out to the folks at Todd
- 4:31Judy. I understand that they're helping and out by covering some of the some
- 4:35of the fees while this tragic situation is unfolding up here. So I know
- 4:40they're big animal lovers Todd and Becky and and I want to give a big
- 4:43shout out to them as well, because they've really stepped up to a lot
- 4:45of businesses have. But those folks at Todd Judy are always awesome to deal
- 4:49with when it comes to animal situations. So I want to give a big
- 4:51shout out to Becky and Todd and the folks that are at Todd Judy.
- 4:56Yeah, we're very very thankful for that. We were supposed to have an
- 4:58event with them, I believe next weekend, but they went ahead and moved
- 5:00it on up to everything going on. Okay, all right, and again,
- 5:04if you're interested in helping out with these animals, uh, just just
- 5:08show up the shelter because they're not really a positioned to be able to answer
- 5:11phones right now or to update the social media. Everybody's just trying to get
- 5:15everything squared away. To just show up up there. But we do have
- 5:17as always, business must go on, the show must continue, and that
- 5:20is our DoPT me please pat of the week and the story this morning,
- 5:24we have the story of Opie. Opie is three years old. Female.
- 5:29Take it from there. Tell us about Opie. All right, So Opie,
- 5:32I am actually correct or I mean incorrect. Opie is a male,
- 5:38not well, I wondered about the name when you sent me the text.
- 5:40I thought, well, generally, you know, because I think obviously people,
- 5:43you know, we think Opie of Andy Griffith, who was indeed a
- 5:46guy, a dude. So I wondered about that. So yeah, Opie
- 5:49is a male, not a female, but go ahead, yeah male.
- 5:54He's around three years old. He is my for chips. He has vaccinated.
- 5:59He did come into us as a straight so we don't really know much
- 6:01about his background, but we can tell you everything we've learned thus far.
- 6:05He has showed to be pretty good with calmer dogs. He seems to be
- 6:11cat friendly, and from what we've heard from going to other fosters, I
- 6:16believe he was in but he's a social butterfly to people. He definitely loved
- 6:23going on walks and stuff like that. But he does pool a little bit,
- 6:25so just make sure that you're training him or working with him and just
- 6:30being patient on that. But of course we do say that he is kid
- 6:33friendly from what we've seen in our care. We always advised caution, as
- 6:39I always like to say, you know, you have to teach the dog
- 6:41to respect you, just as much as you teach the kids to respect the
- 6:44dogs, you know. So other than that, he's very very good in
- 6:48the playgroup, like I said, just the Cammer dogs. He's around thirty
- 6:53eight to forty pounds. I know we weighed him a while ago, so
- 6:57it was thirty He could have gained weight. But other than that, he's
- 7:00very very good. He's a good boy. He loves love of pets and
- 7:04attention. So if anybody is interested in fostering or even adopting or foster to
- 7:10adopts, we definitely love that. Fostering gives you that chance to not have
- 7:15that full commitment yet and get to know them and see how maybe they are
- 7:18with your dogs or tests or whatever it may be at home, and then
- 7:21you can kind of decide whether you not want to adopt or not. It's
- 7:25kind of like a test drive, yeah, for both of you, for
- 7:29the animal and the family. Sometimes it's both right, yes, yes,
- 7:32animal made like this is. I don't want to be around these crazy people.
- 7:34Please take me back, but again, Opie's picture is always posted on
- 7:39my social media, on the Twitter, slash x page and also on Dave
- 7:43Allen Radio. So if you'd like to go check it out and see Opie's
- 7:46picture. Ope's beautiful dog. Any idea what kind of dog Opie is?
- 7:51I'm not one hundred scent sure, but he really looks like he's got some
- 7:55of course, maybe some pity in there, maybe some staffy in there,
- 7:59maybe some just some. He seems like you've got like some good bit of
- 8:03pretty staffy or something like that. He's very pretty good. I love the
- 8:07brindle dog. Yeah, yeah, the brindles are very popular. This to
- 8:09be a great dog for a family. As you said, Opie ish could
- 8:13use a little extra lease training just but not a heck of a lot.
- 8:16It seems to be kid friendly and does like Calber Dogs. Got a text
- 8:20here for you, and I was going to ask you what you needed other
- 8:22than just fostering, and I have a texture for you, and it says,
- 8:26does the shelter need volunteers to help with clean up this weekend? Or
- 8:28need donations of cleaning products in addition to food and leashes for the fosters?
- 8:33Also, do you need cat items with it coming up on kitten and puppy
- 8:37season? So let's start with ge. Do you actually need any physical bodies
- 8:41on site to help with clean up this weekend, So that's what we were
- 8:46trying to kind of figure out yesterday. I know that, you know,
- 8:48volunteers don't hurt. Of course, we will always welcome in the help we're
- 8:52cleaning. We were deep cleaning a lot yesterday. I don't think we had
- 8:56any puppies in the puppy room, so they did a big old clean yesterday.
- 9:01We've been been cleaning pretty much since it all happened, and since we've
- 9:05been getting a lot of the animals out. So we of course with maybe
- 9:07wouldn't mind like a few people to come up and volunteer, but I think
- 9:13the larger groups and stuff will definitely have to hold off on for a little
- 9:15bit, just until we know exactly what's going on. But I have reached
- 9:20out to any of those people that have wanted to come volunteer and let them
- 9:22know as well. And my email is on the website, I believe,
- 9:28or my phone number and you can just contact me and let that all right.
- 9:31And again, sometimes people want to help, and we certainly do encourage
- 9:35that, but sometimes you get too many people that can kind of get in
- 9:37the way sometimes too, you know, so we kind of want to keep
- 9:41the numbers down, but we do appreciate that person asking. Also, they
- 9:43were asking about cleaning products, and I'll go ahead, and that was gonna
- 9:46be my next question anyway, what other than fostering, which I know not
- 9:50everybody's in a position to be able to foster, what can people do to
- 9:54help? Donations? I know, I mean, can you what do you
- 9:56got? Yeah, we're still we're welcoming all the donations. We do send
- 10:03stuff out with the fosters, especially you know, the ones that don't really
- 10:05plan on adopting or anything. Maybe they don't have any other animals, they
- 10:09don't have any food or anything at home. So we did give some of
- 10:11our products out to the fosters. We give them blankets, we give them
- 10:16beds if they need it, just so that way the dog feels a little
- 10:18bit more at home. So we of course will accept all the donations.
- 10:22I mean, eventually we're gonna be up and run and I'm sure so we'll
- 10:26definitely take in everything. Still, Yeah, and I want to ask you
- 10:31too about the outpoint of support from the community. I mean, this thing
- 10:33first happened I think on Wednesday, I first learned of it, and it's
- 10:39been amazing. I think just you know, the people that have come out,
- 10:41the people that have We had an interview Carrie from a news team was
- 10:46up there yesterday and talked to some people that were up there adopting a dog
- 10:50that they had wanted one, and I guess when this story happened, they
- 10:54just said, well, now that's a sign, now's the time to get
- 10:56up there. But not just in from individuals, but the bigin's communities.
- 11:00Well, people have really come together, Hannah to try to help out.
- 11:03Yes, yes, a lot of businesses have even said that you know,
- 11:09some of the proceeds will go straight to KJA. Some of them are given
- 11:13like discount. So I believe there's like a Westerrginia restaurants page out there that
- 11:20somebody posted, like list all of the restaurants under this post. So if
- 11:24you go look on Facebook, there's a lot of businesses, places, stores,
- 11:28I mean, there's everywhere that's helping out. We saw a lot of
- 11:31people donating, bringing up money donations. I mean, it's just crazy how
- 11:35much we're getting all the love and pictures that we feel like we have never
- 11:41even asked for. We just love it. We're so thankful for it.
- 11:43It's what we do in West Virginia. Hannah, you're from here, you
- 11:46know that is what we do. Oh yeah, West Virginia, which hard
- 11:50times like this, West Virginia will come together. Yeah, for sure,
- 11:52absolutely. And I know you got a busy couple of day, well probably
- 11:56a couple of weeks, so try to get things back to normal, you
- 11:58and Ang and everybody up there. So we'll to go ahead and let you
- 12:01go. I appreciate it. Good luck with everything. We'll talk to you
- 12:03again next week and hopefully we'll be in a better place next week. Thanks
- 12:07a lot, thank you. And a gardner again from the Connel Charlest New
- 12:11Main Association and again our pet this week is Opie Opi, a three year
- 12:15old male Prefers Calmer dogs. Seems to be kid friendly, could use a
- 12:18little extra at least training, very very playful dog to brindle. If you'd
- 12:22like to brindle dogs, A lot of people do. You may want to
- 12:26go check out the picture. I've got Opie's picture posted on Dave Alan Radio
- 12:30and Facebook and the Dave Alan Show on x About forty pounds or so.
- 12:33Maybe a little bit of pet in there, but just a great, great
- 12:37dog would be a great family pet, so go check out Opie. And
- 12:39if you want to help out again again, what Hannah was telling us,
- 12:43the best thing to do is not to try to call or try to reach
- 12:46them via social media or email right now because they're all busy, they're all
- 12:50cleaning, they're all doing. Just show up up there. They may be
- 12:54able to put you to work, they may not. Again, you can't
- 12:56also deal with insurance situations up there too, So if you've and I know
- 13:01a lot of a lot of people are a lot of kids are out of
- 13:03school. Kennaw County was on spring break this week. I know Putnam County
- 13:07where I live, is going to be next week. A lot of people
- 13:09are off work today. I know it's good Friday, it's considered part of
- 13:11the Easter holiday, but they could probably use the help. So just head
- 13:16on up there. If you can help them out, I'm sure they would
- 13:18appreciate it. And again, if you want to see Opie, are not
- 13:20me pleased put of the week, head on over to my social media Dave

- 16:38good morning. How are you earning, Dave? I'm great? How are
- 16:41you today? I'm finding I know you're an animal person. Did you happen
- 16:44to see the the dog we posted this morning? Opie open? No,
- 16:48I have to check out out your home needs. Opie. Oh golly,
- 16:52you know we just lost one of our dolls. I do, I do,
- 16:55and I should not have said that. I apologize for that. You
- 16:57know. I think it's one of those things you need a little little bit
- 17:00of time to grieve and then you're probably right, we'll end up with another
- 17:03one. We just love them too much. Yeah, it's I mean,
- 17:07that's the thing about it when you when you lose a pat and I don't
- 17:08want to make you tear up or anything like that, but when you lose
- 17:11a pet, people will say, sometimes we'll just go get another one.
- 17:14Well it's not. It's not that easy, and you don't. I mean,
- 17:18everybody's got to do it on their own time. There are people that
- 17:21will go down like right away and get one, and there's people that say,
- 17:25I'm not ready for that. It's just like losing a person. I
- 17:29mean, you know, it's like your spouse passes. You don't necessarily run
- 17:33out and and and good. Well you can't buy people. It's illegal,
- 17:37I think. Uh, but but you don't run right out, and some
- 17:40people do. So it's it's uh, it's whatever. Thank you for coming
- 17:42to the Oprah Show this morning. Uh, it's good to be here with
- 17:47you. Don't ever call me up. Don't ever ever call me Oprah.
- 17:49All right, So, happy good Friday, that happy Easter, all the
- 17:53stuff. Yeah, all right, so you had a big gala. I
- 17:56understand last night talk about the big gala. It was terrific. We had
- 17:59a sold out crowd. More Capital came in to be r MC. He
- 18:03did a wonderful job. What were you gaala ing? I was the ten
- 18:07year anniversary of Bridge Valley's founding. It was our Founder's Day gala and gosh,
- 18:11we really had a nice time. People looked wonderful. We had a
- 18:15few tuxedos in the room. We got to honor doctor Joe Harris, who
- 18:18was our founding president. She came in and had a host to a founder's
- 18:22table. That was wonderful. Charlie Beers from Blackhawk was one of our keynote
- 18:26speakers, as was doctor Lewis Perkins from WU Medicine. So they both talked
- 18:30about really different partnerships they have with the college and why they're so excited about
- 18:34helping our students. I graduated with somebody named Lewis Perkins. Really it's not
- 18:40the same one. I don't think it's the same one. When you said
- 18:41that, I was like, wait, I know that person. But overall,
- 18:44a great night to celebrate a great things. It was wonderful. Everybody
- 18:48really turned out. It was a very fun event. If you missed it,
- 18:52this year. Put it on your calendar for next year in March.
- 18:53All right, very good. So what else? What's new? Bridge Valley?
- 18:56I mean, I try to keep up with your social media and I
- 18:59share every thing. Since you guys are you know, a sponsor of the
- 19:02show. I try to share all your stuff, and it's like a full
- 19:04time job sharing everything that you got going on. I know on Mondays you
- 19:07do this like Meet the Major's Monday or something. You called it like that,
- 19:11and you had for if you're doing something. I saw this week for
- 19:15Linesman you were having like an orientation or informational session. I guess if you
- 19:21will on that. So there's always something wrong there is. We always have
- 19:23something going on. We've started registration for fall semester already, if you can
- 19:27believe it. So we've really tried to start helping people get thinking about,
- 19:33gosh, if I'm going to change careers, if I'm going to do something
- 19:36else, what might I do? So that's part of the drive behind those
- 19:38Meet the Major events. If you're thinking maybe the Lineman program is a really
- 19:44good fit for you, we want to make sure that you know all about
- 19:47it so that you can have some time to sort of let that settle before
- 19:51you decide to pull the trigger, if you will. So you're right,
- 19:56that is going on. It's just sort of one of those never ending it
- 20:00and we're really ramping up. By the end of the year, we'll have
- 20:03our first high school graduation. We have the Win Academy at Bridge Valley.
- 20:07Now you talked about that before, but for people that didn't hear, go
- 20:10back and talk about the Win Accademy. Oh. So, the Win Academy
- 20:11is a public charter school hosted at Bridge Valley where students who are in high
- 20:15school can actually earn their nursing degree or work on courses in their nursing degree
- 20:21while they're in high school. So we'll have eight students who graduate from high
- 20:23school here this May, and they have various college plans when they move on,
- 20:30and many of them plan on finishing up their nursing degrees with us.
- 20:33So we'll have a handful of nineteen year old nurses. And we desperately need
- 20:38well, we need, despitely need workers of all kinds in Westerndia, but
- 20:41we desperately need healthcare workers right now, do we do? And we're actually
- 20:45opening it up in the fall to students who are interested in advanced manufacturing technology.
- 20:51At the request of our manufacturing partners, the group from Toyota said,
- 20:55it's great that you're doing this in nursing, but can you do it for
- 20:56us? And so we're letting students sign up now for other things too.
- 21:00And I love it because I talk about this every time that you're here,
- 21:03and again we're talking with doctor Casey Saxsonbridge Valley. Every time you're here.
- 21:07I talk about that. What I love the fact that you are working so
- 21:11closely with the Toyotas and with the other other businesses here in the valley to
- 21:15listen to them and not the other way around as it was for so many
- 21:19years. You're saying, Okay, Toyota, Okay, New Core, okay,
- 21:23whomever, what do you need? What do you need? That's right?
- 21:26I mean when we talk about nursing, that's really part of why we've
- 21:30done so much around the nursing profession is that both CAMC and WU Medicine have
- 21:36been wonderful partners for us. We couldn't produce as many nurses as we do
- 21:40without them, and they need them. These are all students who largely want
- 21:44to work in our community and want to stay here in the community. And
- 21:47it's really a great partnership all around. Indeed, it is doctor Casey sax
- 21:51Is here to Dave Allen showing five any Live Bright to you a part by
- 21:53Hustin's Pizza Get an eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and pizza bowl only twenty two ninety
- 21:57nine. Find your nearest Hussans at Husson's Pizza dot com for delivery, pickup
- 22:02or for diyne and talk about that getting people to stay here in West Virginia.
- 22:06I know that's not the role necessarily of an institution of higher learning,
- 22:11but but we need, we need to get our young people to stay here.
- 22:14And so many of these programs do kind of foster that idea of Okay,
- 22:21we're going to learn you something. I love saying things like that,
- 22:23we're going to learn you something, but we need you to agree or at
- 22:26least to try to stay here in West Virginia. So at Bridge Valley,
- 22:30we actually do feel like that's part of our role and mission that eight out
- 22:34of ten students who graduate with us work right here in the valley, and
- 22:37the other two out of ten usually stay in West Virginia. They just don't
- 22:41necessarily stay in the valley. We're really proud of that. We love the
- 22:47fact that we bring people in who want to live here and work in this
- 22:49region. And then that's part of why our partnerships with local employers are so
- 22:55important, because if we educate you for something and there's no job here for
- 22:59it, what good is it? Right? I mean, if we stood
- 23:02up a bounty hunter program, there's no business in town that hires bounty hunters.
- 23:07Not as far as you know, that's true, Not as far as
- 23:08I know, I think you would actually have to move to Chicago, Okay
- 23:11for somewhere else. And so don't we don't have those programs. We on
- 23:17purpose stand up programs that serve employers in our region, and that really helps
- 23:22give people a pathway to be able to stay here. And I think that's
- 23:25definitely part of it, that it's a partnership that it's not just the college
- 23:29standing up something that we're interested in, but it's the college standing up something
- 23:32that serves the training and economic development needs for the region. And we spent
- 23:36a lot of time talking about our younger people because that's the focus. That's
- 23:38who you think of as traditionally going to some institution of hire Learning. But
- 23:42it's not necessarily just younger people here, that's for sure true. Our average
- 23:48age is thirty up at Bridge Valley. That we have many people who have
- 23:52done something else since high school for almost a decade and they're finally ready.
- 23:56That these are adults who have a kid and who have another job and have
- 24:02real adult responsibilities, and they're thinking about how to change their lives, and
- 24:06that they're really sick of working in retail or they're really sick of working in
- 24:10fast food and they want to do something different and better for their families.
- 24:14Off the top of your head, now, no, this is going to
- 24:15be a very real loaded question. And all the information anything we talk about
- 24:18available on the website, which we'll get to you a little bit later on,
- 24:21but just give me. And we talked about linemen, we talked about
- 24:25nursing. Give me some more of the programs that are offered up there,
- 24:26and I know you can't list them all, but I mean just some of
- 24:30the ones you'd like to highlight. So Advance Manufacturing Technology is one of my
- 24:33favorites. Students who graduate with that AMT degree make more than any other degree
- 24:37program at the college. Our average wage for graduates last year was ninety thousand
- 24:41dollars, so that's starting out right, starting out, starting out at ninety
- 24:45thousand dollars. It's an amazing program. Okay, So that one stands out.
- 24:49Engineering tech, mechanical engineering tech, electrical engineering tech. Those all are
- 24:56lead to terrific jobs. Sonography is a wonderful job. So cardiac scenographers or
- 25:02diagnostic medical sonographers take pictures of babies in the womb, or scan your neck
- 25:07to figure out if you have blood clots or other kinds of problems. Those
- 25:11are popular programs. The dental hygiene program is really popular. We always have
- 25:15a waiting list for that one. Gosh, really medical it. The cybersecurity
- 25:21program is phenomenal. That one's always really full. I hear a lot about
- 25:26a lot of good things about all the programs, but especially the cybersecurity program.
- 25:29Thank you. Yes, it's a great one. Accounting actually is one
- 25:33that we really can't make enough accountants right now, oddly, and so that's
- 25:37been a very popular one with a variety of businesses. You know, you
- 25:41think about manufacturing or healthcare, and you're probably going to work for a manufacturer
- 25:45or a healthcare facility. But Moses Automotive needs an accountant. And so that's
- 25:49been a really good another really good program that leads to good jobs in the
- 25:55area. And talk about the percentage of time, and I know it varies
- 25:59doctor from pro to program, but how much are we talking about that that's
- 26:02actually going to be in person online hybrid. I know, again, I
- 26:06know very much depends on the program because a lot of its hands on stuff,
- 26:11but I will yet let me phrase it this way. There is well
- 26:15most of these program there I would imagine there is at least some availability to
- 26:21do things online. We do. We try and have a lot of flexibility.
- 26:25All of our instructors learned a lot during COVID. It was one of
- 26:29the best things that came out of COVID was that people came up with ways
- 26:32to have more flexibility in classrooms. So we have what we call hybrid environments
- 26:37where there's some piece of it that can be online and then some piece of
- 26:40it that's face to face. We still haven't really cracked that nut in things
- 26:44like diesel mechanic or welding that it's there are things that I can show you
- 26:51in welding, and there's a lot of safety training that kind of stuff that
- 26:52can happen online. But at the end of the day, I need you
- 26:56to tig weld. You can do it. Community to do it a bunch
- 27:00in front of me. You've got to show me that you can do this,
- 27:02not just out of it, but before we let you go. Everyone
- 27:04across the country seems to have eclipse fever right now Monday, April the eighth,
- 27:10And I don't know exactly. I was reading an article last night about
- 27:12totality. That's the new word over the next couple of weeks is totality is
- 27:15how much we're actually going to be able to see. Heard that Seymour,
- 27:18Indiana is like that's the home of John Mellencamp. In case you were wondering,
- 27:22Seymour, Indiana is about the best place in America to see the eclipse.
- 27:26No, no, no, no, I'm not. I'm not.
- 27:29I gotta work. But nonetheless, you're doing some things for the eclipse of
- 27:32Monday. The airport are talking about to have an eclipse viewing party if you
- 27:36will, glasses available, have students out on the lawn. Just want to
- 27:41be able to gather as a community to see the eclipse event. It should
- 27:45be fun. We'll see, and again a lot of it all depends too
- 27:48on between what happens. I was one of the articles I was reading.
- 27:51They were quoting a meteorologists, and the meteorologists was saying, we can't at
- 27:56this point tell you exactly what it's going to look like, even though we
- 27:57can predict to vitality, because it's it's almost like any other weather event.
- 28:03You know, there's still gonna be clouds, and there's gonna be set depends
- 28:07on whether it's raining and so on and so forth. So but nonetheless it's
- 28:10going to be it's an excuse for a party at Bridge Valley, is that
- 28:11what you're saying? As long as the sun actually is shining, that take
- 28:15okay, it should be out on the line, all right, and that'll
- 28:18start at what time? That's such a good question. Information is available on
- 28:21the social media. That's where I got it. Information is available. It's
- 28:23available on your social media, on the website, doctor Sacks. It's always
- 28:26a pleasure to give us the website again, it's Bridge Valley dot edu.
- 28:29All right, we'll talk to you again next month. I appreciate you stopping
- 28:32by it. Thanks lunch, I got a traffic note here for you.
- 28:34From one of our listeners says, the Division of Highways is pulling a stunt
- 28:40out here on the interstate this holiday weekend by jamming up all three lanes of
- 28:42traffic. I'm not sure whose head is up blank, but probably not a
- 28:48good idea to patch holes and people are trying to leave town. Metro nine
- 28:52to one one had no information on this. I'm giving you day firsthand info
- 28:56that they are actually patching, and then they followed that up. They texted
- 29:00that at the beginning of the interview Doctor Tacks. They followed that up by
- 29:03saying they just opened it back up, So there was some patching going on
- 29:07somewhere on sixty four. Texture didn't tell you exactly where it was, but
- 29:10somewhere on sixty four they were doing some patching. Lord knows we need it,
- 29:12but do we need it like today? I don't know. But Dave

- 33:36this too. Pam, good morning, welcome to the show. Thank you,
- 33:38thank you for being First of all, tell me about your organization.
- 33:42What is the Kana City Community Association. We go by the acronym CACCA.
- 33:45That's how some people might remember it. We just started in two thousand and
- 33:49five just to be a community organization to help people in the community if they
- 33:52were having problems with different things. We do events to try to bring neighbors
- 33:55together, try to make it a neighborhood that people love to live then and
- 34:00come visit. So that's kind of what we're all about. And I wouldn't
- 34:01know. We get this big event tomorrow. What are some of the other
- 34:04activities you had throughout the year? What are coming up? May eighteenth,
- 34:07responsoring the Kenall City Wide Yard Cell where different people just register and kind of
- 34:13like the East End thing, they just do their do guard cells at their
- 34:15own People love the yard. Yeah. April twenty fourth, we have a
- 34:19career fair at Horseman, Okay for the kids. Just different things throughout the
- 34:23year. We have. We have a neighborhood meetings at City National Bank where
- 34:29we have the police there and building commissioner. Folks there to talk about problems
- 34:32in the neighborhoods. Sounds like just a good community organization. Yeah, you
- 34:35have like a Facebook page or website or anything like that. They do check
- 34:37in a city Community Association. Is the on Facebook? It's under that name
- 34:43and our our can all City. Oh gosh, I can't remember the website.
- 34:47We'll find it. Just Google doodle, is your friend can all City?
- 34:52Something dot org? Okay, just it's something dot org. Gotta I
- 34:57should know that. That's all right, it's all good. I kind of
- 34:59threw that at you there at the last moment, but it's all good.
- 35:00Pamburg again from the Kanosity Community Association. Now this big event vent tomorrow,
- 35:06you guys are a part of. Also got Aaron Wood here whether this is
- 35:07no stranger to the show. He's been on the show in the past.
- 35:09From Quaddi Quantum Party Rentals. Aaron, good morning, Welcome to the gym.
- 35:14Good morning, great to be here. Thank you for being you've been
- 35:15making you guys making your rounds in the building today. I know you're on
- 35:19with the Bishop, I think on V one hundred, so I appreciate you
- 35:21sticking around to it. Talk to me big, big happenings tomorrow Laidley Field.
- 35:25Yeah, Pam and I, you know, I wanted to do something
- 35:29special for the community. You know, I was wondering why we didn't have
- 35:31more carnivals, more events in our community. Pam was like, let's do
- 35:35it. You know. After we've made the decision, I was like,
- 35:37hey, we need somebody to help us get this off the ground. I
- 35:39went to Bensilango. You know, he graciously decided to help and become an
- 35:43anchor for this event and got it, got it all all going. It's
- 35:47going to be a great event. You know, tomorrow at Laidley Field from
- 35:51ten thirty to five, we will have over sixty different rides, inflatables,
- 35:58zip lines, rock walls, you're bungees, electric trains, skill events,
- 36:06monster truck inflatables, putt putt, obstacle courses, slides. You know,
- 36:12it is going to be something that no one in West Virginia has ever seen
- 36:17before. It is going to be something special. It sounds like it.
- 36:21Now. It's ten dollars for the kids to get in right, right and
- 36:23take the ten dollars they can They can do all this stuff all day,
- 36:27is that right? Right? So The big question is you know, is
- 36:29it just the kids that have to pay? Unfortunately, no, Mom and
- 36:31dad. There's an entry fee. Everybody pays ten dollars to get in.
- 36:35If you're under two, no charge, but everybody that enters there is a
- 36:38ten dollars entry fee. Now, the good thing is everybody that enters and
- 36:44pays ten dollars to get in gets a chance to pull an egg out of
- 36:46our prize pool. We have six thousand eggs in our prize egg pool.
- 36:52Some of those prizes are a free appetizer at outback, a free pizza from
- 37:00Pizza Hut, a free snow cone, fast pass to skip the line to
- 37:05get on your favorite ride. But one egg will have one thousand dollars cash.
- 37:09Nice, So one lucky person is going to be a little bit richer
- 37:15after they leave our event. On side about all the eggs at that point,
- 37:17right right, they can go on Monday and buy all the peeps that
- 37:21are going to be discounted at your local storage. Is that right? Exactly
- 37:23exactly? They have a peep problem. They have the money to solve that
- 37:28problem. The Dave Allan two and five age live Bride you bar By Mortgaan
- 37:30to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Aaron, that's a lot of
- 37:34work in putting this whole thing together. Had the whole idea, I mean,
- 37:37I know you said that you wanted to do something you can kind of
- 37:39get back to the community. But talk about the logistics of pulling this thing
- 37:43off, man, because that's a whole lot. You talk about having that
- 37:45many eggs and that many people in one location all day, all those inflatables,
- 37:49well over sixty of the different different games and whatnot, that's a lot
- 37:52of work man. Oh yeah, it is a lot of organ So it's
- 37:53two days a setup. We started yesterday morning. We'll be working all day
- 37:59to again today late into the night to try to get everything set up.
- 38:02You know. Thank you to the units, the students at the University of
- 38:06Charleston. We will have over sixty students volunteering tomorrow at the event from the
- 38:14University of Charleston to help the kids get on the inflatables, play on the
- 38:16inflatables, be on the eurobungies, go down the zip lines. So that's
- 38:22going to be a huge help, you know. Based upon the proceeds of
- 38:23the event, we will we will be making a large donation to the University
- 38:28of Charleston for those volunteers to those sports programs to help those sports programs pay
- 38:31for you know, travel, meals, hotels, all those things that they
- 38:36have to pay for out of pocket when those teams travel. And I did
- 38:39want to mention you talking about the prizes earlier. I understand that Caldwell Insurance
- 38:44it was one of the folks that really stepped up and sponsored the prizes.
- 38:45And there's so many different companies. You mentioned Pizza Hut, and we don't
- 38:50leave any out slangle Law. I mean, they're they're the title sponsor,
- 38:52and they're the ones that I mean, everybody worked hard on this. But
- 38:55but but the Slangle Law is kind of the title sponsor. United Rental we
- 39:00talked about the Community Association of there in Kanawa City and all of our stations
- 39:04too. We were happy, happy to take part in this as well.
- 39:07So it's it's going to be a great day's worth of activities. And I
- 39:09was just checking the weather earlier. Looks like there's about a thirty percent chance
- 39:14of rain tomorrow. Nothing that it's going to keep people away though, Nope,
- 39:15nope, it's going to be warm. There may be a shower in
- 39:20the afternoon, maybe for about thirty minutes, but the weather looks great.
- 39:24Dads, you know we're gonna have a beer tent. Okay, and well
- 39:30maybe moms too, maybe moms, you know, with maybe some Seltzers for
- 39:32the moms. I guess, yeah, don't you get stereotype here? Come
- 39:36on, come on, come on, all right, I'm not going to
- 39:38go back to you for a minute to pam in this organization getting involved in
- 39:42this. I mean again, so many activity and I mentioned this top of
- 39:45the show. There are so many different things going on as part of Easter
- 39:47weekend. Every community's got their own egg hunt. There's things going on all
- 39:51over Charleston, all over the Kanaal Valley. But I like the idea that
- 39:55this one that they've got the community involvement from your organization as part of this.
- 40:00Well, yeah, we did what we called the Village Fair for four
- 40:04years in a row back in the late two thousand and nine, eight nine,
- 40:07ten, something like that. So when Aaron came on board with Cacca,
- 40:12one of his first questions is why don't we do a carnival like you
- 40:14said? And I thought, funny you asked, because we used to and
- 40:17we got to the point where we didn't have enough volunteers to do it anymore.
- 40:20But I've always wanted to get that started back again, so we were
- 40:22really excited to partner with them to a point and help them find a place.
- 40:28And we wanted to do it Kanall City, but we couldn't find a
- 40:30place big enough for that many inflatables. So I mean, when you talk
- 40:34about doing it anywhere in the Charleston area, there's really only one or two
- 40:37pa exactly. I could probably hold something like that either the ballpark or there.
- 40:39And I love the fact that anytime we can use Lateley Field. I
- 40:43like it because it's just it was, you know, such an iconic part
- 40:45of the Charleston community, you know, as for so many years. I
- 40:47like the fact that we could utilize the field. Aaron, I want to
- 40:51give you an opportunity to talk about Quantum Party rentals a little bit. So
- 40:54Quantum Party Renolds is an inflatable tent, table and chair business. You know.
- 41:00We have done festivals, weddings, backyard parties across West Virginia for the
- 41:07last five years, and I just felt like it was time for us to
- 41:13do maybe our own festival, our own event and do something special to kind
- 41:16of give back to the community, something where families can come in on Easter
- 41:22weekend really enjoy their time, you know, tire out those kids. You
- 41:25know, ten dollars to tire out your kid for the day is nothing,
- 41:30and the money is going to go to a good cause over at University of
- 41:32Charleston. But yeah, we operate the entire state of West Virginia. We'll
- 41:38go to Morgantown for an event, We'll go to weird In for event.
- 41:42You know, wherever you have an event in West Virginia. We are your
- 41:45one stop shop for everything fun. How did you get into this business?
- 41:49I'm just kind of curious. How does somebody one day go, you know
- 41:51what, I'm going to have an inflatable party business. Where does that come
- 41:53from? Well, you know, I started Quantum Sports back in two thousand
- 41:57and seven indoor sports facilities in a hurricane and try and I quickly realized,
- 42:01you know, the field needs to be filled up with different types of events.
- 42:06So we started looking at nationally what other sports centers do to fill up
- 42:10time on their field, and one of those items was inflatable parties. So
- 42:15we started doing inflatable parties and we did that for probably about ten years,
- 42:22and we had an opportunity to purchase the warehouse in Kenal City that used to
- 42:27be General Glass, and we purchased that warehouse and we operated in the back
- 42:31of the warehouse with the sports center. But we had this huge warehouse in
- 42:34the middle that was empty. When no one wanted to rent it, we
- 42:37couldn't find anybody to buy it. So a fellow by the name of Greg
- 42:43Harkins said, Hey, why don't you buy my inflatable business. I thought
- 42:46about it, Well, we already do indoor parties, you know, it's
- 42:50not that much of a stretch to start doing outdoor inflatable party rentals. So
- 42:54bought the business from Greg. You know, it's taken off, it's tripled
- 42:58in size. We have over fifty employees now that you know, run trucks
- 43:02on the weekends and put smiles on every kid across West Virginia. Well it
- 43:07sounds like I mean, I'm very familiar you know, with the with the
- 43:12company and everything that you do, and people just absolutely love what you do.
- 43:15Let's get back to the event again tomorrow before we cut you loose,
- 43:17because I know you've got a lot of work to do to get ready.
- 43:20Ten thirty Tomorrow's when it starts, ten thirty, ten thirty to five,
- 43:23ten thirty to five at Lateley Field, Ladyfield ten dollars All day Play have
- 43:29you will. You will be surprised when you get there. It will be
- 43:31shocking the size and magnitude of this event and how many rides are there,
- 43:37and just the overall look and feel of the event. The kids are going
- 43:42to be super excited when they walk through the door, and super and super
- 43:45tired when they leave, and super tired with that. And that's the whole
- 43:49plan. And again, I've got information posted about it on my social media
- 43:52pages, and I know you guys have got information out there as well.
- 43:54It's not to meet everybody's everybody around town that's talking about this, articles in
- 43:58the paper about and everything, so it's not going to be hard to find
- 44:00information about it. Yeah. I would suggest though, if you don't stand
- 44:05in line for tickets, go to our Facebook page and go ahead and purchase
- 44:08tickets online. That way, and you get there, we just have to
- 44:12scan your ticket and you walk right through. Okay, And where's the what's
- 44:14the website? Where can they go on it's Quantum Party Rentals Facebook page.
- 44:17You click on events, and you click on the event on our Facebook page.
- 44:22There's a link right there to buy tickets, get them ready to go.
- 44:23Then all right, well guys, I appreciate it, and Pam was

- 50:27the show yesterday because man yesterday show was loaded up. I had Joe Manchin
- 50:30on the show. I had Cinne Finance sch Eric Tar on the show yesterday.
- 50:34I had a bunch of people on the show, and I obviously put
- 50:37in a little baseball yesterday, you know, because it was the opening day
- 50:39for the Rats and they looked spectacular against Washington yesterday afternoon. I did not
- 50:45get to all the texts on the show yesterday, so I wanted to allow
- 50:46a little bit of time so I could say I got to the text from
- 50:51yesterday's show. We had a text of the show yesterday. Somebody asking for
- 50:53the latest on the Jimmy Riston situation. And we had a text of the
- 50:57show yesterday that said, people holding their breath for you, risking to face
- 51:00consequences for his accents are going to asphyxiate themselves. That was a text to
- 51:06the show on yesterday. Now, I had, as I said, sena
- 51:09financier Eric Tarr on the show yesterday. Text on that yesterday said, let
- 51:15Tar know the last I checked, liberals are winning all over the country and
- 51:20Trump got hammered by more than eight million votes just saying talking about Eric Tarr,
- 51:28this guy's nuts, says the Texter, and I no, that did
- 51:30not come from missus Tar. This guy's nuts. No reasoning with him.
- 51:34Thanks Dave for holding his feet to the fire. On the Joe Manchin interview
- 51:39from yesterday, text says, Dear Dave Manchin, is always very hard to
- 51:44dislike two bad politics have shifted so hard in both directions. Got to be
- 51:50an extremist one way or the others get elected Nowadays, same people can't win
- 51:53hashtags sad state of affairs text said why not get a different mayor from Monday?
- 52:00It's not spokesperson Monday. Well, you know I've kind of redone the
- 52:04way that I did. I'm always moving things around the show. You should
- 52:06know that by now, and on the Mayor Monday segment, I do offer
- 52:08the first Monday of the month to the Goodwin administration to Mayor a good one.
- 52:13Unfortunately she was not available, So I do have the chief of Staff,
- 52:15Matt Sutton. One thing I know about Matt Sutton, I've known him
- 52:19for a long time. Matt Sutton is not afraid to answer any question now,
- 52:22but to Mayor is Don't get me wrong, but I'm just saying that
- 52:23Matt will answer about anything, especially if it's about old school wrestling. So
- 52:28Matt will be on the show for the last thirty twenty to thirty minutes or
- 52:31so on Monday. So if you got a question, you get a comment
- 52:34for the chief of staff, anything related to the City of Charleston, Matt
- 52:37Sutton is going to be in handling those coming up on Monday's show. Tech
- 52:44said from yesterday, and actually this one was from the day day. The
- 52:45word on the street is that Justice and Riston are planning to install wide angle
- 52:50cameras on all major bridges so they can get video when the bridges collapse.
- 52:53Well, hopefully that doesn't happen here Texas. Remember there's a huge days between
- 53:00eighty one million votes and eighty one million voters, says a text. But
