- 0:17Skyler Astin: And then I'm going to be like you know, I remember the first time they did a shape on the you know, a shape venue.
- 0:24Skyler Astin: That was both cool inside and outside.
- 0:26Sean McAllister: That's first celebrity reaction at the grand opening of the sphere and Vegas revealed was there.
- 0:33Dayna Roselli: We take you inside the state of the art venue as you to rocks the sphere on opening weekend.
- 0:39Dayna Roselli: Plus, from parking to concessions, what you need to know before going special coverage of the grand opening of the sphere starts now on Vegas revealed.
- 0:49Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to episode 189 of Vegas revealed, a special episode today.
- 1:02Dayna Roselli: I'm Dayna Roselli with Sean McAllister.
- 1:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is kind of an episode five years in the making, at least kind of right.
- 1:10Dayna Roselli: It really is.
- 1:11Dayna Roselli: You know, we were there for opening weekend of the sphere and we said we've got to do a podcast just all about the sphere, because we have so much great content, so much great information, and so we decided to drop this podcast early this week.
- 1:25Sean McAllister: Well, and there's so many questions that people have about the experience at the sphere, getting to the sphere, so we're going to be covering all of that.
- 1:35Sean McAllister: We also have interviews with the CEO, the chairman of Madison Square Garden Company, james Dolan, along with Hollywood film director, darren Aronofsky, who really is the visionary behind postcard from Earth, which is debuting at the sphere.
- 1:54Sean McAllister: So we have some great stuff, along with celebrity interviews as well.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, lots of celebrities came out.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: Some just went right to the show, others stopped on the red carpet so we were able to chat with them.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: So we've got some great interviews coming up.
- 2:06Dayna Roselli: This was before they actually went into the sphere, so you could see the excitement was building, as everyone wanted to just get in and see what this place looked like already.
- 2:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean it.
- 2:16Sean McAllister: Obviously we've seen how stunning the sphere is from the outside, but now that we've seen what the inside is like, it really is just even that much more breathtaking than it already was.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: And, dana, I want to start with asking what your experience was like.
- 2:35Sean McAllister: You went and saw you two opening weekend.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: Let's start with.
- 2:40Sean McAllister: What was it like?
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: I know there's so much to talk about.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: I'm already stressed about it because I'm like, what do we want to talk about first?
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: You know what?
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: First of all, stunning.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: I must say it was breathtaking.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: There were times when the you Too show started where literally I felt like my breath was taken away.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: I was like and I didn't even expect to feel that way Okay, and you too.
- 3:04Dayna Roselli: Just so you know, I don't follow you too.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: I know you too music.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: I like you too music, but normally what I have bought a ticket to go see you too, probably not.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: It's not my thing.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: I loved them.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: They were amazing.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: I am now a you Too fan.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: Bono was as rockstar as rockstar could be.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: I really enjoyed it and now I get it.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: But the sphere it's hard because it's like you too.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: And then the sphere, it's like they're both headlining Full headliners For this show.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: It was amazing.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: I'm going to go all through that of what it was like in there, but I wanted to talk about some of the transportation traffic, because we get so many questions about that.
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: Right, you and I Ubered there on the first night where we did the red carpet, but we didn't have to be there like right before the show.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: We were there a lot earlier, at 5.30.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: No issues at all on drop off right.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: There are plenty of side roads there where you can get dropped off.
- 3:57Dayna Roselli: When we left, we left like a little bit after you Too would have started.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: What did we leave?
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: Like 8.30?
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: .
- 4:03Sean McAllister: Like 8.30, 8.35-ish.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we kind of went a back way to pick up the Uber and realized no, we had to go toward the front.
- 4:09Dayna Roselli: I know that there's a rideshare specified pickup lot and there were signs inside directing you to where you need to go for your pickup.
- 4:19Dayna Roselli: I did not leave that way Saturday night, so I can't speak to that either.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: So I haven't heard much on that On the way there.
- 4:27Dayna Roselli: On Saturday we decided to park in the Palazzo parking garage and it was event parking only, so it is $30 no matter what.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: So everyone that enters that parking garage is going to have to pay $30 on event night.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: So just a flat fee on the way in.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: Flat fee on the way in, you're right.
- 4:42Dayna Roselli: So you use a charge card and just pay right at the window.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: There's attendance there and what works with that is that on the exit, all the parking.
- 4:56Sean McAllister: Like the parking gates, the arms.
- 4:57Dayna Roselli: The gates are up.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: Oh, so you don't have to wait for every car in the arm to go up.
- 5:03Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 5:03Dayna Roselli: So that was really good because upon exit everyone had already paid, so they weren't like putting their thing in trying to see if they paid, so it flowed out nicely.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: More places should do that, I know.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: They really should for everything right, and the Palazzo parking garage was not that busy.
- 5:21Dayna Roselli: We asked the parking attendant why, and she said you know what?
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: A lot of people are here for the sphere experience.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: They've planned ahead and they're taking like shuttles or ubers from their hotel.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: So that was nice to know.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: There were more spots in the Palazzo parking garage that night than I've ever seen on a Saturday night.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: Interesting, right.
- 5:39Sean McAllister: It is.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: Then, once you go in, say if you're coming from the Palazzo and of course you could park at the Venetian parking garage too you basically go where the theater is and then you kind of I'm not going to give directions you go past through the ballrooms, you make your way through the Sands Expo and there is a bridge over to the sphere.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: It's all enclosed, it is a little bit of a walk but it's no big deal at all.
- 6:03Dayna Roselli: And then the lines start for ticket entry.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: There's a couple different lines.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: Sweets are over to the left, vip general admission.
- 6:11Dayna Roselli: You get through.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: Security was great.
- 6:14Dayna Roselli: I got flagged.
- 6:15Sean McAllister: Oh, you did.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I had to go into another little section for a minute.
- 6:19Dayna Roselli: He had to wand me.
- 6:20Dayna Roselli: I don't know if it was jewelry or what.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: Check my bag.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: I had a little wallet with me, a little wristlet actually, and everything was good to go.
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: So something alarmed the security.
- 6:29James Dolan: So the security was good.
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: And then you walked into the lobby and then when we left I'll admit we left halfway through the last song no problem getting out at all.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: We just walked right back to the Palazzo and, like I said, the arms were up in the parking garage and we left.
- 6:44Sean McAllister: Nice.
- 6:45Sean McAllister: So easy in, easy out, so far, so far, which is the best that you can expect.
- 6:51Sean McAllister: Right, yeah, right.
- 6:52Sean McAllister: But what was it like when you stepped into the theater area of the sphere?
- 7:00Sean McAllister: What was that experience like, visually, audio, I mean?
- 7:06Sean McAllister: What was that?
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: I was trying to think of.
- 7:09Dayna Roselli: Like what did it look like?
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: Well, first of all, when you walk in, it almost feels like times 100, like that feeling Well, like, as in, like a little bit oh gosh, it's so hard to describe Like a Universal Studios Disney feeling where the music playing is current and mysterious.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: And it was that music that was playing when we were standing out in the red carpet that you two saw, oh right.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: It was mostly instrumental, yeah, and you're like, walk in and it's got this purplish and pinkish hue and there's beautiful, you know kind of art hanging from the ceiling.
- 7:45Dayna Roselli: The ceilings are high, there's an escalator up, you know, and you just walk into this lobby and it kind of has like that Disney Universal Studio.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: Feel like you're walking into an attraction, you know an experience, not just an arena.
- 8:02Sean McAllister: Because this is more and you're going to hear about this from MSG's CEO this is more than an arena, this is an experience, and that's the way they're thinking about it from the guest point of view and from the point of view of creators who they collaborate with.
- 8:21Sean McAllister: They say you know what we need?
- 8:23Sean McAllister: People who view this as an experience because this is not just another venue.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: Right, it's so true you walk in.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: We sat in 108, okay, because I know a lot of people on the MSG sphere.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: Facebook pages are all sharing where do you sit?
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: Where's not obstructed, where's the best place?
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: Blah, blah, blah.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: Our seats were fabulous.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: We were kind of close to the artist, so there was people on the ground standing.
- 8:46Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: We were like one section up and then maybe like five rows back, so very good seats, nice Kind of right in the middle.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: I recommend section 100.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: If you go back, though, at a certain point and I should have paid attention to exactly what row it starts at we were at 108, and I would say roughly don't quote me on this probably there would be 10 more rows behind us before the kind of obstructed view starts.
- 9:13Sean McAllister: And if you search you'll find where those rows are and getting tickets.
- 9:17Sean McAllister: I know that they flag those seats and let you know that it is an obstructed view.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: There's an overhang, so that just means there's a certain part of the sphere behind you that you won't see.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: So some things above your head, some things do happen up high, up above, but I wouldn't say for this show there were like so many things that you missed everything.
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: Sure, a lot of it did happen.
- 9:42Dayna Roselli: You know, in that wide kind of scope Some things, that at one point there was a helicopter that flew over A helicopter.
- 9:48James Dolan: I thought it was real and I was like wait a minute what's going on.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: The girl next to me was like what do you mean?
- 9:53Dayna Roselli: The top of the sphere isn't open.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: It's not because there was like a black hole and it's like showing this like I don't know, like I'm going to say it all wrong, like this barrier cement wall with a hole at the top, with this beautiful kind of atrium-ish looking thing, and she's like it's not open.
- 10:09Dayna Roselli: I'm like, no, it's not open.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: That's the top of the sphere, it's a projection, so, but yeah, so I really felt like when I looked around and you'll see from some of our videos, there's not a bad seat in the house unless you have the obstructed view and you were looking to look right straight up above you, right, yeah, there was also like a little bit of a breeze in there.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: I can't explain.
- 10:33Dayna Roselli: I don't know if they're pumping it in, but it was like and it wasn't like a cold breeze, it was a comfortable breeze.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: So, again, you felt like it was like you were on a ride, like at Disney or something.
- 10:44Sean McAllister: Well, and you say a breeze, I think in some of the video that I've seen, it actually looks like when the people's cameras pan around and you see the screen of the sphere and you see the audience as well.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: It looks like it's bleachers in theater seating in an outdoor space.
- 11:05Sean McAllister: Right, did it feel like you were outdoors?
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: Yes, I mean the light, I don't know.
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: So much was happening.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: The stage I thought was just black and then it started changing colors.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: You know, bono got on at one point.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: He started spinning around.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: There were like several live cameras to show closeups of them.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: So you're seeing, like for some songs, bono's there huge on the screen.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: You can see the beads of sweat, you know, pouring down his chest.
- 11:29Dayna Roselli: I mean he came out without the Bono shades and then he put them on which was really cool.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: So it was a moment.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: It was a moment, yeah.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: And then he changed his shades a couple of times.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: Not only outfit changes, shade changes, so I like that.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: I thought it was really cool.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: He did nod to Elvis a couple of times and talked about hey.
- 11:49Dayna Roselli: At one point he said, hey, let's get married in Vegas, man.
- 11:52Dayna Roselli: So big nod to the weddings here too.
- 11:54Sean McAllister: Nice.
- 11:55Dayna Roselli: I love the Vegas kind of twist.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: There so much happens there's just when you look at some of the scenes where there's this one where the sun kind of comes up and goes over your head like a full day, passes you by slowly and then the sun sets and then it turns to night and the stars are out and the planets you can see.
- 12:14Dayna Roselli: It's amazing.
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: It literally feels like you're there, like you're outside, like you said, because it's so crystal clear.
- 12:21Sean McAllister: And what about the audio?
- 12:22Sean McAllister: Because I know that that was a big thing.
- 12:25Sean McAllister: So I mean, was it like super crystal clear?
- 12:31Sean McAllister: And different from other performance venues.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: Yes, and that was the first thing that we said when we sat down and we were just listening to even the DJ.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: They have a great DJ that plays and moves in this neon car through the pit on the bottom where everyone's standing playing songs from the killers and Elvis and the Beatles.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: The vibe before the show is so fun, by the way, and Bono actually came out about an hour late.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: They usually would probably start, you know, the show starts at 8, usually normally 8.15.
- 13:00Dayna Roselli: But show didn't start till 9.
- 13:01Dayna Roselli: He did make an announcement, though he apologized, which that's why, again, I like you too.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: I liked that Bono recognized that they were late, right, and he said there were some technical difficulties before the show.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: Expected were inside the sphere, you know.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: So I was like great Thanks for the apology, thanks for recognizing it, but anyway.
- 13:20Dayna Roselli: So the DJ really had like a long time in the pit.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: The guy was like running out of songs probably, but he did a great job and the crowd was.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: The vibe before is amazing.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: The sound is remarkable, it's just perfect.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: Everything is perfect.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: It was so good, sean, so much better than I expected.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: Really.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: Yes, I just left there Like what makes it so, what makes it so different?
- 13:45Sean McAllister: It's just like the lack of like echo and sound bouncing around.
- 13:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you feel like you're in this, in the round, you're in this sphere, but it doesn't feel like it's just like so even Everything is like evenly distributed.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, I probably am going to have like structural people audio people just emailing me with my lingo is all off, but it was just like balance and even and crisp and you could hear every beat of the song, especially when you know when the DJ was there and then when you too came out, I mean I felt like I really heard all the instruments.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: And then I heard Bono's voice and I heard kind of the special effect moments and I just felt like it was an experience that I had never experienced before.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, I do think the Coliseum and Park MGM they have fabulous sound systems there as well oh, sure.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: But you're more in a more tighter theater.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: You know this is so wide open, you almost feel like, like you said, like you're outdoors, so you almost don't expect it to sound that good.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: Right, but it does.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: This is not just a traditional loudspeaker system that that you would get at a normal concert or theater.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: They're using the sound beam technology.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: That's different than traditional speakers that you would use for just about anything else.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, remarkable.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: I don't even in like OK so so right there, I feel like we could stop with that, because even you were saying you can't look at the videos online.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: Even the videos if you're watching our video podcast, it just does not paint what it really, the picture of what it really is like in person.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: Well, and that's exactly what that was my train of thought as I was looking at all of the, the videos that were coming out from opening weekend, like there is no way that the videos can do justice to the visuals and to the audio that you actually experience in person.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so true.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: You just you need to experience it, you really do.
- 15:58Dayna Roselli: Even the seats were, I felt like, spaced really nice, not all bunch together super close.
- 16:04Dayna Roselli: They have cup holders for your drink, but they come down, so it's not that like, excuse me, excuse me because there's a bunch of like cup holders sticking out.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: That was wonderful.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: So the whole experience was very comfortable.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: I did not feel stuffed into an arena, I did not feel crowded.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: I didn't feel like, oh my gosh, there are seventeen thousand five hundred people in here and we're all on top of each other.
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: It didn't feel that way either.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: That's good.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was great.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: The restrooms were beautiful and easy access.
- 16:32Dayna Roselli: Right off as soon as you walk out.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: There's usually one to the left, one to the right from your section, so that was nice.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: And then let's just get to concessions.
- 16:41Dayna Roselli: People were asking about that too.
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: I didn't do a whole price point thing or anything like that.
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: Right, make notes, because I was kind of really into in awe.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: But I did get a drink.
- 16:53Dayna Roselli: I got a vodka soda and it was $16.
- 16:57Dayna Roselli: I got a single.
- 16:58Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: Not a double, the double was double.
- 17:00Dayna Roselli: And then you know, there were cocktails like margaritas, beer, things like that.
- 17:05Dayna Roselli: When I glanced at the menu, though, I noticed it was pretty much on par with Vegas prices at arenas, at Legion Stadium, at theaters, so nothing struck me as this is off the wall.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Right Well which is, you know, good, it was comparable.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: It wasn't skyrocketed even more because it's already expensive.
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: And then the cups are reusable.
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: It says please return me.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: It's kind of like a frosted plastic and I love this.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: It said please return me when you leave, I'm reusable.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: And they have all these like bins, like yellow bins, and you throw your cup in there when you leave and they recycle it.
- 17:42Sean McAllister: I thought that was great it's so green of them.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: It is, it was so green and it made it feel even fresher inside.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: I felt like, wow, I really care about the environment here.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: So I think that's it for my experience inside and because I do feel like you just need to go.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: Any negatives at all I'm not sure that I have any on this experience, I think I was just.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: I was in awe and I thought it was fabulous.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: It was my first experience seeing you two.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: I didn't realize how many you two songs I knew I wish they would have maybe like.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: And me and I went with Perez Hilton, who's a popular celebrity blogger.
- 18:17Dayna Roselli: He's been to thousands of concerts and we were both saying, you know, we wish for the sphere moment that maybe they would have done greatest hits instead of focus on one album, which is totally cool when you tour and stuff.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: But we felt like, you know, that would have just if it would have been every single song was just like their biggest, biggest hits.
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: That could have been a little bit more well for me as, not being a you two follower, for me, a general person, I would have loved to just hear all the greatest hits, but it I wasn't bothered in any way.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: He also did bring two audience members up on stage at different moments and they have this really cool little platform that lifts them up and they get on and then when they exit, it goes down.
- 18:57Sean McAllister: So the you two people mover.
- 18:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah, you two people mover.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: So, yeah, no negatives for me.
- 19:03Dayna Roselli: I just I enjoyed the whole experience.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: I loved it.
- 19:06Sean McAllister: Now I'm glad to hear that, and it sounds like I mean.
- 19:09Sean McAllister: Judging from reaction online, it seems like a lot of people have had a very similar positive experience and are just in awe of everything.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: And when I was sitting there, sean, I was thinking of you too.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: It's like you know I was sitting there going.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: It's so amazing to me that I moved here in 2004.
- 19:27Dayna Roselli: I know you moved here just shortly after that and that how many things I've been able to be a part of and watch being built and then sit inside when it's open.
- 19:37Dayna Roselli: It's almost unreal.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: There's no other city, I don't think, that has had as many things go up oh my gosh as we have in the last 20 years.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: It just can't be.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: So we've watched things go down, we've watched things go up and I'm sitting in the sphere going.
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: It's so crazy because at the blink of an eye I feel like, even though I know it's been a long time, how is this even possible?
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: We were present.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: I would look at going how is this even?
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: How did this even happen?
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: So kudos to the whole sphere team and Madison Square Garden and the construction workers Holy cow, oh my gosh, the folks that installed the LED lights.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: You can go to our social media and look at some of those pictures Incredible.
- 20:23Sean McAllister: It really is a feat of engineering and a feat of imagination really.
- 20:29Sean McAllister: I mean, going into a.
- 20:30Sean McAllister: It's a whole new medium for filmmakers, for musicians.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: I mean it is the next generation of live entertainment.
- 20:41Dayna Roselli: And the people we were able to interview on the red carpet.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: I know that you love the tech stuff so much.
- 20:45Dayna Roselli: So, I know you were really excited, though, when we were able to interview James Dolan.
- 20:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, James Dolan, the CEO of MSG Entertainment.
- 20:54Sean McAllister: He had even said that, even though it had been five years since the groundbreaking, until the grand opening of Sphere, this is something that he had dreamed about since he was a teenager.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: I mean, this is just the culmination of all of the thoughts and ideas that he's had going around in his head, and we talked to him about why he sees the grand opening as the dawn of a new entertainment era.
- 21:23Dayna Roselli: You've dreamed this up for how long?
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: I mean?
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: I can only imagine it's gotta be incredible to look up and then walk in and see what you've done.
- 21:30James Dolan: It was six years ago that the concept gelled Right, but I've been thinking about this since I was a teenager.
- 21:37James Dolan: Not about this place, but about the technology and about the notion of being in a place and being somewhere else at the same time.
- 21:48James Dolan: The object of the sphere is to convince you that you're not here, that you're someplace else, like the Amazon rainforest or the Arctic, or under the ocean or in space, et cetera, to be able to take people to places like that and have them really feel what it's like.
- 22:06James Dolan: I've been thinking about that for a long time.
- 22:10James Dolan: Actually, there was a science fiction writer, ray Bradbury, who wrote a story called the Belt, all about two kids who go into a room and put themselves on the African belt, and I read that as a kid and I always loved that story, so that is definitely part of the inspiration.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: I'm curious why did you choose Vegas as the first spot for this?
- 22:33James Dolan: I love Vegas.
- 22:34James Dolan: I've been coming here my whole life, but Vegas is the city of light, right.
- 22:39James Dolan: Vegas is where all the biggest you know all.
- 22:42James Dolan: In the end, I came here.
- 22:43James Dolan: I came here 30 years ago and was just taken by the bright lights of the city and both the community and the government have been so welcoming, right, and they wanted this.
- 22:58James Dolan: They were encouraging to us and to do a project like this, you need partnership like that and it was clear Las Vegas had that.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: I mean we've seen a lot of openings but we never think that one can top the other.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: But this is top in everything.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: It really is, and I feel like, with the technology that you're debuting here at the Sphere, it's almost on par with, like the early dawn of movies in Hollywood, where people were having to figure out how to make it happen.
- 23:27Sean McAllister: You do feel that way.
- 23:28James Dolan: Yes, I do.
- 23:29James Dolan: This is a new medium.
- 23:31James Dolan: There are aspects of this that have never been.
- 23:36James Dolan: You know, the creators have never had a palette like this before, where it's not just a rectangular box that they're programming, but it's an entire experience, and they have to think experientially in order to be creative with it.
- 23:50James Dolan: So I think we're gonna see a lot of great content coming out of here.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: And lastly, I heard you say just before you popped here that you are looking forward to seeing this with a crowd for the first time.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: What that's gonna feel like for you to see faces.
- 24:04James Dolan: Yes, well, that's the payoff, isn't it?
- 24:05James Dolan: I mean, this is who we made it for, everybody who's coming tonight, and I can't wait to see their reaction.
- 24:12Sean McAllister: And I think James is hoping that there are going to be spheres in cities around the world.
- 24:18Sean McAllister: So Las Vegas ultimately, in the big picture, won't be the only one.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: However, we were watching a new interview that a news station out of New York City did with James Dolan and they asked him.
- 24:33Sean McAllister: They said so, do you see New York City as one of these future venues for a sphere?
- 24:40Sean McAllister: And he was like well, I don't know.
- 24:43Sean McAllister: If New York City wants it, then we can have the conversation.
- 24:46Sean McAllister: But he basically said that Las Vegas just, open Arms, welcomed the idea of the sphere and the construction like everything that goes with it.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: Las Vegas just rolled out the carpet and said let's do it.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: I love to hear that right, so do.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: I.
- 25:05Dayna Roselli: It's because we're up for everything.
- 25:06Dayna Roselli: I mean it's great, I'm so happy to live in a city that has the sphere for the first time it's so cool.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: And you know, I must say I got a little emotional when he was talking about.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: I mean, we talked to him before he was going to go in and watch YouTube perform with an audience for the first time, his vision, I mean, and I could just tell like I was.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: This is such a big moment for him, you know, and he was like I can't wait to see, whatever, how everyone's gonna react.
- 25:36Dayna Roselli: And so it was a pleasure to interview him.
- 25:39Dayna Roselli: I was so happy we got the chance to do that and it was so nice of him to stop and chat with us because you know he was stopping at different stations and I know he wanted to get inside.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: So yeah, that was a great, that was a great get.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: We enjoyed talking to him.
- 25:51Sean McAllister: It was, and among the faces that he saw, taking in the sights and sounds of the Sphere Las Vegas for the first time, were a ton of celebrities Talking Oprah Winfrey and Gal King, Connie Britton, Elizabeth Banks, James Seymour, Dakota Fanning, Diplo Brian Cranston, Aaron Paul, Oscar de la Hoya, John Hamm I mean Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: And I saw the Sphere shared.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: Kate Hudson was there too.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 26:22James Dolan: Yeah, she was like tons of stuff on her.
- 26:23Dayna Roselli: Instagram story and such a variety right Of celebrities you know, Like a total variety, like you know, actors and sitcoms and movie stars and athletes and DJs.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: I mean it was really cool business people, entrepreneurs, so I loved that.
- 26:39Dayna Roselli: I saw Connie Britton.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: She was in a rush to get inside and, man, I was fanning out.
- 26:44Dayna Roselli: I love Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights and every other show she's been in.
- 26:47Sean McAllister: She looked great too, by the way, she did look great right, and Dakota Fanning.
- 26:51Dayna Roselli: She came right at the end and I think the show was about to start, so she kind of took some photos and walked in and we didn't get a chance to chat with her.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: But we did get a chance to chat with a lot of celebrities and it was so much fun talking to them about what they were expecting to see, why they actually came to Vegas for this opening.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: And even you know some of the people that they were thinking.
- 27:15Dayna Roselli: When we asked them, you're like who do you think should headline next after you two, who would you like to see in here?
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: We got some answers from that too.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: We did, so you're going to hear right now from Josh Jumel, luke Wilson, skyler Aston, who you may know as an actor from the movie Pitch Perfect, and then actor Adam Scott.
- 27:35Dayna Roselli: You were in a show that was kind of the fantasy world of Vegas for so long.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: Did you ever imagine that way down the road you'd see something like this.
- 27:42Josh Duhamel: I mean kind of this town just does not cease to amaze me.
- 27:47Josh Duhamel: They just keep doing things that feel like they're humanly impossible, and I remember when the Luxor went on that was a huge deal and they just keep doing it and this, I think, tops them all in a lot of ways.
- 28:02Josh Duhamel: So you know, the human innovation and ingenuity that this town has always amazes me every time I come.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: Do you live in Hollywood?
- 28:10Josh Duhamel: You live in LA, I live in LA and I live out in the woods in Minnesota too, in North Dakota a lot too.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: So I always wonder, like, do LA people get jealous that Vegas got this and it's not in Los Angeles Because you guys are movie buffs?
- 28:21Josh Duhamel: You know, I think it's cool.
- 28:22Josh Duhamel: I mean, listen, it's not that if it's only an hour away, I don't mind that.
- 28:26Josh Duhamel: It's an easy trip to get here.
- 28:28Josh Duhamel: It's probably better that it's an hour away, otherwise I'd spend too much time and money here.
- 28:32Josh Duhamel: So yeah, I have no problem with it, and I also love that they have sports here now too.
- 28:38Josh Duhamel: I mean, they're going to have a basketball team soon.
- 28:40Josh Duhamel: They've got a great hockey team just won the whole damn thing.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: It was a big week for us man.
- 28:45Dayna Roselli: It's been great you looking forward to seeing you too.
- 28:48Josh Duhamel: Oh my gosh.
- 28:48Josh Duhamel: Yes, this is one of my all-time favorite bands.
- 28:50Josh Duhamel: We're about to witness something historic, I think.
- 28:55Luke Wilson: I'm wondering if it's going to be different than what I saw you too, at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth, texas, in 87.
- 29:02Luke Wilson: I feel like it's going to be a little different, maybe slightly more merciful, although it's pretty merciful.
- 29:08Luke Wilson: No, it should be incredible.
- 29:11Luke Wilson: I mean, what little research I've done about it.
- 29:13Luke Wilson: It just sounds like James Dolan and the people from Madison Square Garden have built you know one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art music venue and just yeah, what they can do now with technology and sound.
- 29:27Luke Wilson: It's unbelievable.
- 29:28Luke Wilson: I think it's definitely probably the wave of the future where it is cool, though, that this is the first one.
- 29:33Luke Wilson: You visit Vegas a lot or I'll come a couple times a year.
- 29:37Luke Wilson: I always like to try and come for a couple concerts and try and play a little golf.
- 29:41Luke Wilson: It's an unbelievable town.
- 29:44Luke Wilson: I mean it is one of those places where I have to try and slow my heart rate down, get too excited like a kid.
- 29:50Luke Wilson: It's going to be like Christmas morning, when you're just exhausted before you've opened a present.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: You're obviously a music fan, a fan of music.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: So what's it like to come here and be able to have the chance to watch something like this, both visually and then also hearing it.
- 30:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's two of your worlds kind of combining.
- 30:08Skyler Astin: Yeah, I feel very lucky.
- 30:09Skyler Astin: I really like immersive live performance, Like I saw oh a Cirque show last night and just the way that they were incorporating music and dance and circus and swimming.
- 30:18Skyler Astin: I just love when mediums can kind of blend like that.
- 30:21Skyler Astin: So this is no different to get the kind of immersive screens with one of the best rock bands of all time.
- 30:27Skyler Astin: I feel really lucky to be here.
- 30:29Dayna Roselli: And we're in such a digital world, seeing something like this, and you, being a younger generation than some of the people that we've talked to already, I mean, it's got to blow your mind to see something like this in person.
- 30:38Skyler Astin: I agree.
- 30:38Skyler Astin: I mean, I wonder if there's more like this to follow.
- 30:41Skyler Astin: And then I'm going to be like you know.
- 30:43Skyler Astin: I remember the first time they did a shape venue.
- 30:46Skyler Astin: That was both cool inside and outside, I don't know, or else, or maybe this one will just be like the really special, you know venue that there's only one of, I don't know, but it's exciting to be a part of the opening of it and I'm sure my wheels will be turning as far as like what would be even a cool way to utilize the space, like some do some amazing theater, do some amazing line combat sports, even you know different kinds of bands and artists.
- 31:13Skyler Astin: It's exciting.
- 31:15Dayna Roselli: If you could pick, like the next sphere headliner, who would you like to see inside?
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: I just feel like.
- 31:19Skyler Astin: Bruno Mars is like perfect for this kind of a situation.
- 31:22Skyler Astin: I feel like he's he's.
- 31:22Skyler Astin: He's fun.
- 31:23Skyler Astin: I think he would have a cool visual component and he's a real showman who can sing and dance, and so that'll be really fun.
- 31:29Skyler Astin: And he's such a Vegas guy.
- 31:30Skyler Astin: I saw his residency a couple of years ago and it was everything you would ever hope for in a Bruno Mars show.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: I mean, this is a different kind of opening, right?
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, we're not here in Hollywood, you're here in Vegas.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: For the opening of kind of a Hollywood-esque type of deal here.
- 31:43Adam Scott: Yeah, I'm just.
- 31:44Adam Scott: I mean, I've been seeing pictures of the sphere on, or sphere on, social media.
- 31:48Adam Scott: It's in person.
- 31:50Adam Scott: It's even more unbelievable.
- 31:52Adam Scott: You can't believe that there's something this big.
- 31:54Adam Scott: That's one giant screen.
- 31:56Adam Scott: It's technology.
- 31:58Adam Scott: I feel like people haven't really seen yet live, and and you too seems like the perfect band for that, constantly reinventing the live experience.
- 32:09Adam Scott: So I feel like there's going to be a step forward tonight.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: If you had to pick the next headliner, who would you pick?
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: Any ideas, who you'd love to see, who else would you love to see in here?
- 32:21Adam Scott: No, no, I mean maybe Bruce Springsteen, or yeah, I think that would be a good Bruce.
- 32:28Dayna Roselli: Springsteen Good one, yeah, thanks.
- 32:30Sean McAllister: I mean the boss, not a bad suggestion at all.
- 32:34Sean McAllister: No and I know, bruce Springsteen has a long history with Madison Square Garden Entertainment.
- 32:41Dayna Roselli: True, true, and then the previous one, bruno Mars.
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: That was a good idea too.
- 32:45Dayna Roselli: It just makes sense as well.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's so many people.
- 32:47Dayna Roselli: It's rumored that Harry Styles could be next not confirmed.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: It'll be interesting to see, but I don't know.
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: Hey, speaking of the boss, though, we talked to the boss of Las Vegas, mayor Carolyn Goodman.
- 33:01Dayna Roselli: She was there on the red carpet and, yes, the sphere is not located in the city limits of Las Vegas, but Las Vegas is Las Vegas.
- 33:09Dayna Roselli: When something this big opens, the mayor is always making an appearance and excited, no matter what it's bringing visitors to our town.
- 33:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, she's always one of the biggest cheerleaders for the greater Las Vegas area and as we spoke with Carolyn Goodman, she really talked about how Las Vegas is the perfect place for the sphere, because our city just embraces innovation so much.
- 33:37Sean McAllister: There have been a lot of spectacular things that have risen up out of the ground here in Las Vegas.
- 33:43Sean McAllister: How does this compare?
- 33:44Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: This is the most phenomenal, innovative new venue for promoting concepts, innovation, energy and all the things that Las Vegas truly represents.
- 33:57Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: We're about change.
- 33:59Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: We're about grasping new ideas, seeking ways for all of the people that choose to come here or live here equally to have a chance to enjoy it.
- 34:09Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: So there are only 17,500 seats.
- 34:13Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: We've got a little work to do, but I want to make sure that all the people that are behind the scenes in hospitality and that help take care of this city, no matter what their career is, that they can come here and enjoy it.
- 34:27Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: And that's going to be part of the follow-through, because this does belong in Las Vegas and there is no place like Las Vegas.
- 34:36Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: It's the best.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: We had a great chat with Mayor Goodman.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: We've actually got some other topics that we talked to her about, somewhat related, that we'll have on future podcasts.
- 34:46Dayna Roselli: She's always a great interview.
- 34:47Sean McAllister: She is, and you never know what is going to, what kind of answers you're going to get, but we got some good ones.
- 34:55Dayna Roselli: I know, oh gosh, she's a lot of fun really, which made me think because we were laughing.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: I have a funny little thing that happened on my exit from YouTube.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: You want to hear it?
- 35:03Dayna Roselli: Oh okay, and I think that it might just be that.
- 35:05Dayna Roselli: I find it really funny, so I'm curious if you will too.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: All right, so, as you're leaving the show at the Sphere to see you two when you're leaving, the workers are wonderful, they're so pleasant and courteous.
- 35:17Dayna Roselli: So they say hope you had a good time, have a good night.
- 35:21Dayna Roselli: And then what are you going to say?
- 35:24Sean McAllister: You two, oh you two.
- 35:27Dayna Roselli: So it felt really weird because we kept saying to everyone you two.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: And they were like you two.
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: We just saw you two.
- 35:38Sean McAllister: It really drives the message home that you were at the YouTube concert right.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: Right, it was so funny, you two.
- 35:45Dayna Roselli: We just saw you two.
- 35:47Dayna Roselli: It was all funny, awkward, so I thought it was funny.
- 35:51Dayna Roselli: When you leave, you two, you're going to tell a lot of people, you two, you two, it's great every time.
- 35:56Sean McAllister: I like that.
- 35:57Sean McAllister: I think it's funny.
- 35:58Dayna Roselli: Okay, good it's kind of like a dad joke, but I liked it.
- 36:01Sean McAllister: Hey, more of our Sphere coverage is still ahead, including the debut of the cinematic feature that's really going to be the staple attraction at Sphere.
- 36:13Sean McAllister: It's called Postcard from Earth.
- 36:15Sean McAllister: We're going to talk to Darren Aronofsky, who is the Hollywood director, who is the visionary behind that project.
- 36:23Sean McAllister: That's still to come.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and really interesting stuff from him.
- 36:26Dayna Roselli: So stay tuned for that.
- 36:28Dayna Roselli: But you know what we want to take a quick moment to tell you about Frey Ranch Whiskey.
- 36:33Dayna Roselli: It is a Nevada-born whiskey, from ground to glass.
- 36:37Dayna Roselli: We talked a little bit about it last week.
- 36:40Dayna Roselli: Sean and I traveled up for the Harvest Festival on the farm.
- 36:43Dayna Roselli: It was fabulous and the whiskey is delish.
- 36:48Dayna Roselli: If you like whiskey, the bourbon.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: It's strong but it's delicious.
- 36:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is.
- 36:52Sean McAllister: And, Dana, you mentioned ground to glass and it was really cool to be there for whiskey harvest and see how every single ingredient that goes into the whiskey and bourbon is grown right there on the Frey Ranch farm in Fallon Nevada.
- 37:09Sean McAllister: So it really is.
- 37:11Sean McAllister: Everything is right there.
- 37:13Sean McAllister: They're not importing ingredients and adding it in.
- 37:16Sean McAllister: It's all Nevada and it's award-winning whiskey as well.
- 37:21Dayna Roselli: And next week we're going to show you a little bit more of the process we're going to go through.
- 37:25Dayna Roselli: All of that I related to was that you know, whiskey doesn't need to be consumed straight up.
- 37:33Dayna Roselli: Sometimes you can make a cocktail out of it, or many times you can make a cocktail out of it, and I laugh because of what the co-founder, Colby Frey, is gonna say at the beginning of this kind of section that we talked to him about.
- 37:47Dayna Roselli: But you know, for me I was like, okay, I like it if I sit, but I don't know if I could sit there and sip whiskey straight up all night long.
- 37:57Dayna Roselli: And so I was like, I wanted to know, like, can you make you know what are some good cocktails that you can make with Frey Ranch whiskey?
- 38:04Dayna Roselli: And we got that answer.
- 38:06Darren: Yeah, usually if somebody says they don't like whiskey, I say, yeah, nobody's perfect, but cocktails are really good.
- 38:12Darren: So I mean, and that's what with whiskey, you should drink it how you like it.
- 38:16Darren: If you don't like it, neat, that's fine.
- 38:18Darren: Cocktails are great and so my favorite is the ranch hand, which is kind of our signature cocktail.
- 38:26Darren: We call it the ranch hand because it's kind of the ranch hand is the guy on the farm that kind of can do everything and isn't afraid to get, like you know, get in and get, get it, pull up, pull up his sleeves and get to work.
- 38:36Darren: You know what I mean and that's what the ranch hand cocktail is.
- 38:38Darren: But it's our take on the gold rush, which is it's lemon juice, honey syrup and whiskey, and then our kind of take on it is we put a dash of bitters on it for that aromatics and it's really good.
- 38:50Darren: It's very refreshing, like on a hot day after you work all day.
- 38:53Darren: But we also have a lot of bees here on the ranch and so we take our honey, that from the bees that are here on the ranch, and use that for the honey component of that.
- 39:01Darren: And it's really kind of cool because it's two components out of the three are right here on the farm, made right here on the farm.
- 39:10Sean McAllister: See that ground to glass concept even applies to the cocktails, because they make their own honey on the farm.
- 39:17Sean McAllister: That goes well.
- 39:18Sean McAllister: I guess the bees make the honey.
- 39:19Sean McAllister: But the bees are on the farm, and that goes right into the cocktail.
- 39:22Dayna Roselli: Everything is so fresh there.
- 39:24Dayna Roselli: It's amazing.
- 39:25Dayna Roselli: It really was such an experience, wasn't it?
- 39:29Sean McAllister: I mean, it's a magical place.
- 39:30Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 39:31Sean McAllister: You can find Frey Ranch whiskey at bars and liquor stores in Nevada and California.
- 39:37Sean McAllister: They are expanding really quickly now, though, so be sure to ask.
- 39:42Sean McAllister: You know, your favorite bartender or the manager at the liquor store ask for Frey Ranch whiskey to be stocked on their shelves.
- 39:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 39:51Dayna Roselli: It's a great place, like I said, and if you want to go there and experience it, maybe you want to do a weekend getaway Saturdays from noon to four, they do free tastings and tours.
- 40:01Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind and put it on your list, because we have had a lot of inquiries from people saying I find the whole thing fascinating, I love whiskey, I would love to go there, so you can.
- 40:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, and the good news is that you can order Frey Ranch whiskey directly from their website as well.
- 40:17Sean McAllister: As a matter of fact, right now, they have a special harvest collection available for harvest season, so you can find out more about Frey Ranch and order some for yourself at Frey Ranch dot com.
- 40:32Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 40:33Dayna Roselli: Well, going back to the sphere now we want to go back to the postcard from Earthshow that is going to be showing at the sphere Dali a number of times a day and we hope to see it in in person soon and we plan to do that by the time this podcast actually drops Maybe we will have actually seen it at.
- 40:51Dayna Roselli: Debut is kind of premieres on Friday, october 6.
- 40:54Dayna Roselli: But remember, leading up to the sphere opening and I told you, someone in my building actually works at the sphere and he had said, if you want to see the full and true capabilities of what the sphere screen in the inside can do, postcard from Earth is going to be is going to be what you need to see.
- 41:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this because it is a cinematic feature that was created specifically for the sphere here in Las Vegas.
- 41:26Sean McAllister: You can't see it anywhere else in the world, and we spoke with Hollywood director Darren Aronofsky about some of the challenges that he encountered having to deal with brand new technology.
- 41:40It was something we didn't even know if it was possible to do, and it's definitely we didn't think it was possible to do within a time frame we had, and it's come together pretty damn well.
- 41:50Dayna Roselli: So tell me what makes it different than anything that's ever been out there?
- 41:53Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know it's the screen but, like you know, there have been some things like blow our minds with what's different and what's never been done.
- 41:59Well, the resolution is hard to understand.
- 42:01Your TV at home is probably a 4K TV, but this is 18K and so, coming out of the camera that they built called Big Sky, it's 32 gigs per second of information.
- 42:14A movie on your computer is two or three gigs, so it's just 32 gigs per second and the final file of this movie is half a petabyte, which is 500,000 gigabytes, and it's a level of information that we're projecting into people's brains that's just going to make people go wow.
- 42:36And that's been interesting.
- 42:37Like people are just sort of getting emotional just by the beauty of the images, we also do have a story in it, so it works on a few different levels.
- 42:48Sean McAllister: Well, and talk about that Big Sky camera system, because I know that I mean this had to be developed specifically for this venue.
- 42:55Sean McAllister: What challenges did you have in working with this system?
- 43:00Well, it was a new camera so, as you know, before something gets onto the market, there's normally a lot of consumer testing.
- 43:08There was no testing, so we were testing on site.
- 43:10We'd be off in the rainforest in Vietnam and trying to figure out how to turn this thing on.
- 43:16It takes a dozen people to turn the camera on, so there were technically unbelievable challenges.
- 43:23Also, it sees 270 degrees, so it's.
- 43:27There's nowhere for the crew to hide.
- 43:31Dayna Roselli: That is unreal 12 people to turn it on.
- 43:34Dayna Roselli: I think so.
- 43:34Dayna Roselli: Something like that, a number of people.
- 43:37I think it started off a lot more and it became less and less.
- 43:40Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think I could have talked about all that tech stuff for hours.
- 43:44Sean McAllister: You could have, I know you were really.
- 43:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, if we had more time with him, right?
- 43:47Dayna Roselli: He also.
- 43:49Dayna Roselli: I just love that everyone.
- 43:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, obviously it's the opening of their baby.
- 43:53Dayna Roselli: But they were just so immersed in the interviews with everyone.
- 43:58Dayna Roselli: They wanted to take everyone's questions and they want to talk about it.
- 44:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, this is their moment, right.
- 44:03Dayna Roselli: But he found it so interesting.
- 44:05Dayna Roselli: When I even mentioned him, I said someone in my building said this is what you have to see to get the phone.
- 44:09Dayna Roselli: He's like do you know where they worked?
- 44:11James Dolan: and what do?
- 44:11Dayna Roselli: they do, and he was so interested to know that someone there said that and that meant a lot to him.
- 44:17Dayna Roselli: I think every single person's feedback is going to mean a lot to him, because he put so much passion into it.
- 44:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, it really is.
- 44:23Sean McAllister: So you can check the Sphere's website for showtimes for postcard from Earth, along with other events that are happening at the Sphere as well.
- 44:33Dayna Roselli: And quickly I was going to say now they're calling it also, it's like the Sphere experience, so it's like you go in and there are, you know, you can take in, obviously, the lobby and talk to the robot, the.
- 44:45Sean McAllister: AI robot.
- 44:45Sean McAllister: What's her?
- 44:45Dayna Roselli: name Aurora, yeah, and so there's different things happening also as you make your way into postcard from Earth, and tickets start for some showtimes at 49 bucks.
- 44:55Dayna Roselli: So it's not out of this world.
- 44:59Sean McAllister: No.
- 44:59Dayna Roselli: But we do have a tip of what you can do for free.
- 45:02Dayna Roselli: That's somewhat related to the sphere.
- 45:05Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 45:06Sean McAllister: It's called Zoo Station, a U2 UV experience, and this is located in the Palazzo.
- 45:14Sean McAllister: If you're familiar with the Venetian and Palazzo, you know there's that big atrium with a beautiful waterfall, the big letters that spell out love.
- 45:23Sean McAllister: This Zoo Station experience is adjacent to that, so right there off the atrium and it kind of takes you through U2's career, really interactive experience that kind of rounds out the whole sphere experience.
- 45:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I feel like if you're in town to go see U2, you've got to go to this, and if you're in town and are thinking about going to see U2 at the sphere or just want to get that kind of close to sphere, experience this is a great exhibit.
- 45:54Dayna Roselli: It's free again, so that's wonderful, and it's open 11 to 9 pm Tuesday to Sunday.
- 46:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, limited edition merchandise, vip lounges, tons to do and see over there and the best part, it's free yeah.
- 46:07Dayna Roselli: I did think about getting a U2 t-shirt on the way out.
- 46:09Dayna Roselli: I'm a fan.
- 46:10Sean McAllister: now I mean you might have to go back to the merch stand and get that to commemorate your inaugural sphere experience.
- 46:19Dayna Roselli: You know, there were a lot of groups of guys at this show too, but like tons of generations, but like I call them like bro groups, right, they were like.
- 46:27Dayna Roselli: But I want to say I loved them.
- 46:29Dayna Roselli: I had a group in front of me.
- 46:31Dayna Roselli: They were so immersed I mean they were playing the drums in the air the whole time.
- 46:35Dayna Roselli: They were waving their hands, they were calling their girlfriends on FaceTime and FaceTiming it.
- 46:41Dayna Roselli: I mean it was so cute, I loved it.
- 46:43Dayna Roselli: So I just thought it was so sweet.
- 46:46Sean McAllister: And there were people of all ages at the shows.
- 46:48Sean McAllister: Opening weekend.
- 46:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and actually one of the people that he called up on stage when I was there was a not a little girl, but a younger girl.
- 46:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah, for this part where he has a rope and a balloon and walks with her and sings to her, it was wonderful.
- 47:00Dayna Roselli: But, yeah, there were people of all ages there, so I loved it.
- 47:03Dayna Roselli: I loved all the age groups that were there.
- 47:05Dayna Roselli: I just the whole experience was wonderful.
- 47:08Dayna Roselli: If you get a chance, you know what you might want to bite the bullet.
- 47:10Dayna Roselli: Hey, another quick tip when we left in that Uber, remember, our Uber driver said I just dropped off a couple because they waited for like 801 and then they bought some last minute tickets that popped up Like someone couldn't go or whatever on sub hub and got a pair of tickets for a reasonable price.
- 47:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, so they were late getting into the show, but they got really cheap tickets.
- 47:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so you never know.
- 47:33Sean McAllister: Just keep that in mind.
- 47:34Sean McAllister: Hang out Watch, yeah.
- 47:37Dayna Roselli: To Xizu station and take a chill pill and see if you get in.
- 47:42Sean McAllister: So that wraps up our special coverage of the grand opening of Sphere Las Vegas.

- 48:05Dayna Roselli: It's in our blood, so if you give us a challenge, we're gonna try and come up with it.
- 48:11Sean McAllister: We're up for it and we'll try and come up with the answer.
- 48:15Dayna Roselli: We don't know who the next headliner is for sure, so don't ask us that.
- 48:18Sean McAllister: We do not.
- 48:19Sean McAllister: And again, a big thank you to our sponsors Vegas, near me, hot Works, infrared Fitness Studios and Frey Ranch Whiskey.
