[rock music] Yeah, rawr, rawr, rawr. They're not coming [laughs] for you now.
• 0:18
Scratch, scratch, scratch. Hey, hey, everybody. It's Full Spectrum Cycling. This is show 247. 24/7, y'all. Right on. Dun, dun, dun. The first of the, uh, shows where somebody's doing mechanics on the table. Right?
• 0:32
Yeah, yeah. I'm done with my mechanics. What do you got there, Tony? There's like- What's going on with that thing? There's like a repeat loop, so you can just listen to this over- Where, where, where's-... and over and
• 0:39
over and over- Is it-... and over and over and over- That's-... and over again... this viewer's, this viewer's right here. [laughs] Zseli and anatomic. Uh. One of 500 supposedly made, or maybe less.
• 0:53
I thought it was fif- 50. Was it 50? I don't know. Might've been 50. Might've been 50. Ostrich. Math is bad. Could be chicken, we don't know. Looks more like ostrich. But they told us ostrich, and it's on my list.
• 1:03
We're gonna look back and it'll be the Ed Gain show, going like, "Oh, yes, of course." So that's- Human cheek... that clamp is giving you cramps?
• 1:10
The, I hate these, these generic, super generic old school, like Schwinn clamps. Yeah. Oh my God. Like these. Not to mention, I crushed my knuckle trying to get the post back in it.
• 1:22
Oh, I think that's what I did with, uh, that State, uh, saddle- Oh, it's-... that you guys put on-... it's out again too, I see... my Schleck. Oh, maybe that was what was causing the problem.
• 1:29
I have to get more tools out. Okay. Well, they're in the other- I'll talk and tool. They're in the other room. Oh, they're in your bag. They're in my bog. Your bog. Oh, man.
• 1:38
Which is still, I, I looked up Vessel, and boy, they don't, they are not well-liked, and apparently are now also out of business. Could be. They made all right stuff for a period of time. Oh, look at that.
• 1:48
That thing's beautiful. Oh, it's too big. It's the wrong size, though. It's too big. How, yeah, this is... Yeah, when I worked- It's like-... when I worked in the Valley in California, you know,
• 1:57
there was so often- Dun, dun, dun, dun, yeah... it was just too big. Is that a titanium, uh [laughs]... You know how that's gonna be... that would be an awesome, that would be an awesome tool to make out of titanium.
• 2:05
Yeah, it would. Last forever. We're turning into Top Gun. Yeah, well, light as- This is gonna be like very-... whatnot. Probably wouldn't be $12, so. So it's, it's a 34.9 seat post. That's a reasonably common size.
• 2:16
Is it? The big one, yes. Big one. And you can get a real clamp on there. That's what I'm shooting for. On your fancy 'lectric bike. 422 miles. I saw the, yeah, as I was speaking of earlier, before we cracked the mics.
• 2:29
Oh, that's what the 420 was all about. Right. I get it. I saw the, uh- I get it now... electrified trike that l- I'm sorry, it, it was blue. It looked like a Heather.
• 2:38
It had a flag and it- It did have a very similar look. Yeah. Tony has a, a blue Heather semi looking thing in his backyard. I do. Side yard. Side yard. I wasn't in your backyard- Maybe-... this week...
• 2:49
wouldn't that be a, wouldn't that be a big, sexy ride? A little motor on there. He would probably love that. Probably. Wow. Have not seen pictures of the new Heather yet.
• 3:00
Uh- I did look them up, and there's a variety of that particular Schwinn. Well, you were saying it was black. But you get them with multiple gears and things like that.
• 3:07
Well, he got it blue again because it was, like, 300 bucks cheaper. 'Cause it was cheap. Oh, for some reason. I know. Remember, he told the story twice. So nice, you gotta hear it twice.
• 3:15
Well, no, it, like, reversed itself as I went- Now what are you doing?... I went to black. That thing just seems like a Rube Goldberg thing that needs to be- Looks like a bong.
• 3:24
Um, so let's go to American Science and Surplus for the eclipse. This will be- Billy-... continued after show. Billy is gonna be DJing for the MSC event for it. At, uh, for the partial solar eclipse?
• 3:39
At the, yeah, American Science and Surplus. I'm going to, uh, somewhere in Central Indiana to see the whole- Central Indiana... damn thing. Oh, are you gonna dance all the way there? You going there with Dinardo?
• 3:48
I'm going there with the family. And it's, and- With Robert Preston and Shirley Jones... can I just ask why? 'Cause have you ever done a full total solar- When I was a kid...
• 3:57
when you were actually at the totality- Stare into the sun... man, it's- I watched the movie Pi... it's, it's pretty kickass. I say do it if you can. We're six hours away. I'm gonna drive down there.
• 4:06
Six hours, happens about 3:00, turn around, come back six hours, do it all in one day. Hit a Waffle House. Maybe. Or hit somebody- Might have to get some food somewhere. Hit somebody inside a Waffle House.
• 4:17
[laughs] And, and, and, and- And then just run away... you know, I didn't wanna, so- Hit some shit down the road at Bob Evans... I didn't wanna, I did not wanna [laughs] Bob, Bob Evans. [laughs] Down on the farm.
• 4:26
I did not want to rent a hotel in case, A, it's crappy weather, in which case, why bother going down there? 'Cause you're not gonna see anything. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. But, uh, B,
• 4:37
if we're rolling back, it'd be just like, "Oh, yeah, let's just, you know, we'll stop here and take a nap or whatever." Right. Yeah, yeah. So, uh- Especially when you got three or four drivers is fair prep.
• 4:47
There's only one, uh, there's only one driver in my vehicle ever. Oh, Lord. Really? You're one of them. [laughs] Yep. That's fine at times. Hey, man, when I'm, hey, then you're the chauffeur. Yeah.
• 4:57
Not on- That's right... I'm not on your ride, but I've b- done the same thing. Toot, toot, toot. Well, yeah. To be fair, Wendy has driven in the past. Uh, the, uh, Garrett doesn't drive yet.
• 5:05
He's, you know, still in high school. I've, uh- Nobody in high school should be driving a car. True.
• 5:10
Since I know he, since I know he will never listen to this, uh, my brother-in-law, who has made multiple people vomit from his bad driving- [laughs]...
• 5:21
is g- What, with the, the moving around and the- Oh, he's just a horrible, he-... swiggling and swiggling... and, and high speed until the very end, slam on the brakes.
• 5:28
Um, he has decided in his retirement years that he's gonna be an Uber driver, and I had- Oh, Lord... the hardest time keeping a straight face when he said that, 'cause I'm going- In what region?
• 5:37
I, I, I've seen my nephew puke. In what region? In Milwaukee. Oh, Lord. Okay. Uber, not Uber and Lyft? He'll probably do both. Oh, don't tell him. Uber- Uber XL, that's where your money's at. Well.
• 5:48
That's where you have to have the Black Edition or something, right? Well, you have to have a big vehicle- Yeah, yeah... like my van, for instance. Ah. Um- It's like, oh, you're picking up seven people. Oh, yeah.
• 5:57
Yeah, it's- Yeah, bring in the Civic... wait, close that thing over there, if you don't mind. We gotta- Hey, stop looking in the other room. Look at all that stuff that's- No... there we go. Now we got it.
• 6:06
Da, da, da, da, da, da. The, the set is complete now that the curtain is closed. Oh, I like this too. Oh, yeah. Clack it now. Look, I did that before. All right.
• 6:14
But right on the thing, I've got a note that says, "Close the freaking curtain," but- Oh, yeah... well, things- Hey, did you do this? I did before. I just said that. No, I wasn't here. You were here.
• 6:23
You were just here when I just said it. You were just not paying attention. Oh, it's nothing new. Hey, I added show notes today. Come on. I'm so poor I can't afford to pay attention. Right. So- Uh, oh...
• 6:32
what's going on in Milwaukee right now? Let's look at Milwaukee. Let's- The weather's- I-... arid... it's windy. And it's- Mm-hmm... really wet.
• 6:39
I mean, the Oak Leaf had partial flooding on the way into work this morning. Nice. Well- I was not... I wasn't riding- Don't go to work that early... I wasn't feeling that well the last couple days.
• 6:48
I was just, like, malaise or something. I don't know. Really? But, uh, feel a little better today. I did, I did go to The Boot Connection and pick up my boots. Oh, the J- I saw your post on those.
• 7:00
Yeah, I got to see the- Or did you get a nice-... I took the pictures... greasy Gold Coast, uh- I did go right next door and got a g- I got a- Bonnie-... a Gold Dust I believe is the one... Mile Standish?
• 7:10
Nope, the Gold Dust is what I would always get. Ah, yeah. Mile Standish has got the, the tuna on it, right? I think so. Oh, that's so good, that place.
• 7:17
[laughs] And it, you know, Boot Connection- But it just keeps that, like, suburbia Gold Coast- Oh, yeah... vibe... vibe. Yeah, I agree. Got to Frankoney- Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...
• 7:26
sandwich suburbia, submarine sandwich. Boop-a-doop. I don't remember that at all. So I went out, so I, I went out to the Red Wing store, um, Michaels. They are an independent Red Wing store. Good, strong name, that is.
• 7:37
Out there by where you used to maybe come from some time in the past, sorta kinda. Yes, where all the Michaels come from. Where the Michaels come from.
• 7:43
Uh, and, and the, uh, the guy's super nice and he's like, "Yeah, we, our machine can't handle that thicker sole that you got on this boot." But, you know those Boot Connection guys, they got the only machine
• 7:53
that can- They have the connection... that can do, right, a Vibram, you know, a thicker rubber Vibram- Yeah... resole, and they did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend going.
• 8:03
I've bought boots there before, but I never had them work on them, so. Nice. Well, that part of Leighton- Where are they?... is finally open. They are right next to [laughs] Gold Coast on Lis- Yeah...
• 8:11
Lisbon and Leighton. Lisbon and Leighton. No, not Lisbon. Uh, Loomis. Loomis and Leighton. Loomis and Leighton. Oh, wow. That's, yeah. That- Changed his mind... I had to venture into West Allis last week- No, that is-...
• 8:19
and I lived... no, that, that part of Leighton was shut down for, like, a fucking year. Oh, the bridge? It was shut down so long that people, the businesses- We're forgetting...
• 8:27
were complaining because they weren't- Well, not complaining... yeah, their business was losing... like, leaving and going- I believe that bridge is still out there over the freeway. No, no, you can go over it.
• 8:36
Somewhere. Somewhere where I went there- But that zone is, is-... it was, you couldn't do it. Couldn't do it when I was out there... but in that area, the turf is being rebuilt.
• 8:43
This is true, right on the other side of The Boot Connection. [laughs] Yes. Yes. There is the- The Turf Skatepark of, of old... oh, yeah. And I do believe that old membership cards will be honored.
• 8:54
I ha- I have mine somewhere. That's hilarious. And you know what? I have no- From 1979... I have no footing to say that, but whoever's in charge of that I think would back me up on that one. They should.
• 9:04
[laughs] If you've kept your card for that long. Dean Castles, I know you're out there, SlackerPosse.com. He's got good shit. He still always blasts out his goddamn Turf card. Yep. Nice.
• 9:16
I gotta find mine s- 'cause I have it. I got a picture of it. And Jeff Lentz, Gorf. St- Otteson, Steve Oz. [laughs] All, all the old guys. So yeah, picking up anyway- Yeah, Gorf still fucking rips it up now.
• 9:28
I would bust my shit. Eh, I, I never had the good mentality in the first place. Oh, I was, uh- They, those guys did. I was, I was decent for a while. Ugh. Uh- In the bowl? Oh, yeah. Uh, half pipes- The old, uh-...
• 9:42
bowls, pools. We s- I skated every empty pool we could ever find in anybody's backyard. [laughs] I sucked. Oh, man. I sucked. I was bad. You'd, you'd go to, like- I was DMX, man...
• 9:50
we'd go through the newspaper when they still had those things and look through the, the real estate listings and go, "Pool. Nobody's living there. Let's go see if it's empty." You know? Backyard fence.
• 10:02
Couple days, sooner or later somebody calls and people come with red lights on their cars and you run away. Yeah. And find another one. Just like every skater ever did, ever, always.
• 10:15
The only equa- equitable thing I can do in my youth on that one was jumping into, like, like, well, pools with the water in it. [laughs] I mean- Yeah... honestly. No, no. I mean, but- That's funny...
• 10:27
you know, just hijacking, like, uh, we can't, you know, uh, like- You could do that... it was Greendale, Greenfield, ha ha ha. Yeah. Fuck you anyways. I still- That's where apartment buildings always came in handy.
• 10:38
You just go in there about midnight and slink around in the pool until- Used to do it all the time as a kid... Patasky or somebody makes a discovery maybe... no, but yeah. You scope it out.
• 10:46
Oh, hey, they're going on vacation, and those other two houses are, too, so splashy splashy. Splashy splashy. No, as much m- noise as we make, no one's gonna give a shit. Exactly. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
• 10:57
Uh- That's what you do, kids... that's how you do it. You're not stupid. L- learn from your elders, damn it. Mm-hmm.
• 11:01
Uh, at the bike swap, whenever we were last at the bike swap, Tony and I, uh, a guy came by from Milwaukee Outdoor Indoor Exchange. Remember him? Yeah. Yeah. He was cool. At the end of the show.
• 11:12
He, he, he liked, he liked our page, so he'd give a shout-out to the Milwaukee podcast about bikes.
• 11:17
I'm gonna go down there tomorrow because they're not open on Monday and Tuesday, but this is a place in Milwaukee where you can consign your decent quality used outdoor camping whatever, whatever. I've got a,
• 11:31
a really nice tent I don't wanna eBay. I take it over to that guy. Yeah. See what he can do. Sell my tent. Sellmytent.com. That would be a good one. Uh, and I also have a hammock.
• 11:41
I have a- Find a good home for this thing... I have a huge hammock. I never used it. It was a Kickstarter thing. Hammock? Hammock? Let's see if that works, 'cause why sell that on eBay?
• 11:49
If, unless you pronounce it hammock. Tell me, tell me about this. I, I wanna see this. Do you say hammock? Hammock. A hammock? Hammock. Oh, it has many things. Hamm- It's muck...
• 11:56
is it freestanding or tree- There's a U in there, don't you- It's a trua. It does not have... No. Oh. It's a, it, you could probably find a, a, a frame for it, but- [laughs] What? There's a U in hammock. It's a hammock
• 12:09
Hammock Hammock You, yeah, you- Hock... you're leaning to the mock right there Mock. It's Hamm, H-A-M-M-O-C-K. Yeah, I know. It's, it, that is a, a, uh, copywritten version of it. [bell ringing] So- Whoa.
• 12:24
That was quick Wow, we, we, we made it right up there, didn't we? Well, that's, uh, 14. And yet we are here. It is 6:14. Uh, oh, you know we're having a party next week over at Morphic. Yeah.
• 12:39
I heard this band called El Rongo's playing. El Rongo's playing. Ah. People are coming. Things will be at and, uh, beer will be drunk, I imagine.
• 12:48
And on that note, our good buddies, where we're having this next door to Morphic, uh, released two new beers- Today... today. Which is- Or- Tuesday... Tuesday internet time.
• 12:59
Uh- Uh, DDH Fu- Fluffy Logic Bergamot Orange AF, which I assume means orange as fuck. Oh. Which has- So catchy... my mind already. Mm-hmm. So even though they have this diorama thing going on, I'm gonna go see.
• 13:13
And- I'll definitely be getting one of those... and try. And they also have a Czech slash New Zealand turbulent flow. It's a Czech pilsner, but it has some kinda New Zealand hops with it. So there's two of them.
• 13:24
Did- Two of them to try... did you link- I think that nudge, it probably nudged out the, my go-to the past couple weeks, the Windows Cut Deep, just 'cause the name is awesome and it's a collaboration beer. So- Yeah...
• 13:38
that probably got knocked off the shelf. I don't know Could've been. Did, did you- But that's... oh... share the post of Milwaukee Record Story of Ron, or did someone else? I did not.
• 13:47
It's a great- Oh, that's a good one It's a good one. Yeah. We should find it and post it in the notes. Yeah. Since he rang the bell- Yeah...
• 13:53
we're, we're doing, we're doing the other half of the Three Sheeps this week, whenever we got the last half of it before. Last week. This is, this is Waterslide's IPA. We've had this before, and you know what? It's good.
• 14:06
It is good. 6.7%, 6- 60 IBUs. And it's, it's not- It's a little burpy... and burpy. No, no, it's not burpy. No, no. The last one was burpy.
• 14:16
That was, that was because I slammed this Chaos Pattern, which was- Chaos Pattern is a little burpy... the fluffy, the fluffy- [laughs] Jeff Goldblum Chaos. Uh, who? Whatever. What, so what's the- It's a chaos...
• 14:28
all right. It makes sense. Let me ask you this question about Jeff Goldblum. When did he become a sexy guy? 'Cause he's- I... People think he's sexy? No, no, he's just always- In Jurassic Park, he had the shirt off...
• 14:37
Your Asslick Park is a very good movie. [sighs] You, you gotta get- That has to be real, isn't it? Is that a real porno? Oh, heck yeah. Of course it is. Never saw it. Jurassic Pork?
• 14:45
Just, just saw, [laughs] just saw the title. All right. Mm. Did you manage to... You, you haven't opened yours yet? Oh, no. All right. I'm, here we go. Uh, oh, I already kinda know I like it, 'cause it's a- It's tasty.
• 15:04
Yes, it is good and crispy. It is good. [laughs] It is, it is good. [laughs] Uh- It, yes, it's been a week. It is Holy Week, so we all have to say things- Oh... very declaratively- Oh... in the name of- It's lint.
• 15:17
I forgot, it's lint... yes, I gave a, I gave a- Lint? Yeah, lint. Lint? I, I gave up lent. With an I? That's how I say it. How do you say it? [laughs] I don't even say it.
• 15:26
I gave up washing- And it has nothing to do with that at all... I gave up washing, um- Cute, cute puppy... socks. Oh. For winter, for, for lent? For lent. Here. Cute, cute puppy. Cute puppy. Oh, that's cute puppy.
• 15:38
Cute puppy. Cute puppy. Just in case, cute puppy. Speaking of cute puppies, I went to... Oh, darn it. Oh, did you get a cease and desist on, uh, Matt? No. He's in the news, so. No, he's still here. He's- He's a c-...
• 15:50
laboring over there. Uh, I got a call, or no, a, a message from Derek Mauser over in Osage, Iowa- Okay...
• 15:59
saying, "Who's coming over from Milwaukee this year for the May Day Mayhem, May 4th, Saturday, May the 4th be with you Saturday?" I have to sign up for the- At Line's-... Riverwest 24-... don't. It's the 5th...
• 16:08
because I haven't volun- I haven't volunteered. It's the 5th. Oh. What? Sunday the 5th is the sign up. Signs up the 5th on Sunday, not Saturday the 4th. Well, that would be a good truck. It's five- But yes-...
• 16:16
five hours-... we're not gonna go through this like we do every year about the fact- No, we will... that you don't volunteer, and therefore you sit and wait for- Yes we do, we go through this every goddamn year...
• 16:23
for Jeremy to call your number. [laughs] So, uh, I think, uh, I know- He's my biggest fan about getting that goddamn number... yeah, he makes you wait, though.
• 16:33
I know, uh, uh, Lunz and Chewy and Spinner and I are for sure gonna go to the Osage thing, but it's a heck of a good time. And this is, this is a clunker race. You bring your single speed coaster brake bike.
• 16:44
If you bring something else, just, you know, leave it in the car. Make sure you bring the right tool for the job, or your- Oh, it's a clunker fest?... to be a tool. That's cool. Yeah. Oh, I- Yeah, when was that?
• 16:55
Last year... no, I, I didn't even know. I just brought a stock state bike last year. I've got my- Yeah. I might have to change tires, though. I've got slicks.
• 17:00
That might be a way to fall down there, 'cause those trails, if they're wet- Mm-hmm... they can be kinda slimy. You talking about with your fancy brake? My fancy brake. There's not a- The fancy coaster brake...
• 17:10
it's a fancy coaster brake. Is that the one where you, is that the one where you yard saled going down the, uh, parking lot? I know. I know. You know what? You look at- I did a yard sale. Oh, dude, you yard saled. No.
• 17:17
No. Oh, that was in this parking lot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. My right toe. That's my brake. Huh? Endo. That's how you brake, man. Stick your toe in the wheel and- Yeah... just lock it in. Or the fork. Boom. Ouch. Yeah. Yeah.
• 17:31
Yeah, that's how you do that. That's how you slow down. So that's May 4th. Uh, look for a link in the show notes. May the 4th be with you. Oh, sorry. Oh. If, if you're down there nolens, uh, Heather's last ride's coming.
• 17:43
Yeah? I wish I could go down there and just do that, 'cause it seems like that could be a good time. Well, I- That does look like a good time...
• 17:48
I know we'll document it, and I want to, uh- I'm just wondering if it's gonna be four people or 50. Eh, I would say right in the sweet spot between those. It'll be like one of our rides, where it's like, "Hey. Yo.
• 18:03
Buh, buh." And the, well- "Oh, hey. Oh, we have, we have to commemorate-"... all vehicles are invited, so... we have to c- well, yeah, we have to commemorate, uh, Justin Timberlake. Yeah.
• 18:10
There, there might be some- Kinda thing... lint rye. There's... Do, do, do, do, do, do. Just make sure they go to, uh, Decatur Street 'Cause I love that part of New Orleans.
• 18:21
[laughs] It's like where River West and Brady Street just [blows raspberry] mess around and- So last time I was in New Orleans I seen People Like You...
• 18:30
it's just nice and, nice and relaxed, a nice and comfortable feeling. Ooh, here we go. Ooh. I, so I, this website, iMatra, e- well, I don't know.
• 18:42
I am a- Is it the one you sent that about- With, you can earn NFTs for riding your bike somehow. I don't get it, but- I- You can, but- It took forever for it to change from- [clears throat]... Italian to English for me.
• 18:53
Yeah. Well, they have POC Ciao, bella. You, you can buy stuff. Ciao. I don't know how this works, but I'm curious about it, 'cause if you ride your bike and you get NFTs and you can buy stuff or whatever, whatever.
• 19:01
Life is a video game- Don't know how it works... and you get paid off in coins. Now- I knew how it worked before... the Super Nintendo movie is happening. Soonly? You're... Yeah. Right now? Here? Yeah. [laughs] Okay.
• 19:18
As you're... You, yeah, you are absolutely talking on it. This Super Nintendo movie is brought to you by Color Coral. If you haven't used this stuff for your- That's a killer. It is. You clean your stuff.
• 19:28
Like, look how clean- It is killer... look how clean the Roguelister is today. It is absolutely fantastic.
• 19:31
By the way, if you go to the show notes, uh, there is a link, and if you buy it, uh, we get a very small, small, small chunk. So- But, yeah... get it. I, I, I cleaned my, uh, the Roguelister.
• 19:39
It- It looks fanta- It's no dust. It looks absolutely beautiful. It's, like, almost like Silly Putty, right? It's not really- It's the same stuff you can use in cars and stuff, too. Yeah. Yeah, it's beautiful.
• 19:48
It's not that dirty yet, either. It's green and slimy, and you just go boop boop boop boop boop boop boop- Yeah... and it cleans your shit up. And it doesn't aggravate the pods- Nope... or anything? Nope. No.
• 19:59
It's, it's, uh, poke, poke your finger in there. Poke in your finger in it. Coral? That's my cat's name. Yeah.
• 20:07
It, it, it- He probably got this from- I will tell you this, though: it's important that you keep this part here- Sealed... in that part there, because it'll dry out. I bet. Sure. Or it gets kinda weird of consistency.
• 20:17
