- Lucas: Välkommen tillbaka till Learn Swedish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and with me is the wonderful Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm so ready for today's episode. I've been thinking about something I always struggle with when I'm out and about. Lucas: Oh yeah? What's that? Luna: Asking for directions! I always panic and forget the words. Lucas: Well, today's your lucky day. We're going to learn some key phrases for getting around town. And hey, if Fexingo has been helping you make real progress with Swedish, we'd love your support to keep this show ad-free. You can buy us a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It helps us keep doing what we love. Luna: Absolutely. And now, let's get lost in Swedish — in a good way! Lucas: So, the first thing you need is a polite way to get someone's attention. We say: Ursäkta. That means 'excuse me'. Luna: Ursäkta. That's pretty straightforward. Lucas: Then you can ask: Var ligger...? For example, Ursäkta, var ligger stationen? — 'Excuse me, where is the station?' Luna: Ursäkta, var ligger stationen? Lucas: Perfect. Another way is: Hur kommer jag till...? — 'How do I get to...?' Like, Ursäkta, hur kommer jag till biblioteket? Luna: Ursäkta, hur kommer jag till biblioteket? Lucas: Great. Now, if you're not sure about the distance, you can ask: Är det långt? — 'Is it far?' Luna: Är det långt? That's useful. Lucas: And if someone tells you to go straight, they'll say: Gå rakt fram. — 'Go straight ahead'. Luna: Gå rakt fram. Lucas: And to thank them, you say: Tack för hjälpen. — 'Thanks for the help'. Luna: Tack för hjälpen. That's a nice one to remember. Lucas: Let's put it together in a little scene. Imagine you're looking for the museum. You stop someone and say: Ursäkta, var ligger museet? Luna: Ursäkta, var ligger museet? Lucas: They answer: Gå rakt fram, sen sväng höger. — 'Go straight ahead, then turn right.' Wait, we haven't learned 'turn right' yet. Let's keep it simple: Gå rakt fram. It's inte långt. — 'It's not far.' Luna: Ah, so they say it's not far. Är det långt? Nej, det är inte långt. Lucas: Exactly. Then you say: Tack för hjälpen. Luna: Tack för hjälpen. I love how polite it sounds. Lucas: Okay, let's practice one more time. I'll be the stranger, you ask for directions to the station. Luna: Ursäkta, var ligger stationen? Lucas: Gå rakt fram. Det är inte långt. Luna: Tack för hjälpen! Lucas: Perfect! You're ready to navigate any Swedish town. Luna: I feel much more confident now. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: Remember, practice these phrases and soon they'll come naturally. That's all for today's episode of Learn Swedish with Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time!
