A Pennsylvania State Police trooper, Michael Pahira, a nearly 20-year veteran stationed in Frackville, lost his life early Wednesday morning while conducting a routine commercial vehicle inspection on I-81. A tractor-trailer veered off the road, struck him and the truck, igniting a fire that proved fatal. Praised as one of the force’s top motor carrier enforcement officers, Pahira had recently returned home to support his mother through her cancer treatment.
