- 0:31Speaker 1: Chapter 12 The Subconscious Mind The Connecting Link The Eleventh
- 0:40Speaker 1: Step Toward Riches The subconscious mind consists of a field
- 0:47Speaker 1: of consciousness in which every impulse of thought that reaches
- 0:50Speaker 1: the objective mind through any of the five senses is
- 0:54Speaker 1: classified and recorded, and from which thoughts may be recalled
- 0:58Speaker 1: or withdrawn as letters may be taken from a filing cabinet.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It receives and files sense impressions or thoughts, regardless of
- 1:07Speaker 1: their nature. You may voluntarily plant in your subconscious mind
- 1:11Speaker 1: any plan, thought, or purpose which you desire to translate
- 1:15Speaker 1: into its physical or monetary equivalent. The subconscious acts first
- 1:20Speaker 1: on the dominating desires which have been mixed with emotional feeling,
- 1:24Speaker 1: such as faith. Consider this in connection with the instructions
- 1:28Speaker 1: given in the chapter on desire, for taking the six
- 1:32Speaker 1: steps there outlined, and the instructions given in the chapter
- 1:35Speaker 1: on the building and execution of plans, and you will
- 1:38Speaker 1: understand the importance of the thought conveyed. The subconscious mind
- 1:43Speaker 1: works day and night. Through a method of procedure unknown
- 1:47Speaker 1: to man, the subconscious mind draws upon the forces of
- 1:50Speaker 1: infinite intelligence, for the power with which it voluntarily transmutes
- 1:55Speaker 1: one's desires into their physical equivalent, making use, always, of
- 2:00Speaker 1: the most practical media by which this end may be accomplished.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You cannot entirely control your subconscious mind, but you can
- 2:08Speaker 1: voluntarily hand over to it any plan, desire, or purpose
- 2:12Speaker 1: which you wish transformed into concrete form. Read, again, Instructions
- 2:17Speaker 1: for Using the Subconscious Mind, in the chapter on autosuggestion.
- 2:22Speaker 1: There is plenty of evidence to support the belief that
- 2:25Speaker 1: the subconscious mind is the connecting link between the finite
- 2:29Speaker 1: mind of man and infinite intelligence. It is the intermediary
- 2:33Speaker 1: through which one may draw upon the forces of infinite
- 2:36Speaker 1: intelligence at will. It alone contains the secret process by
- 2:41Speaker 1: which mental impulses are modified and changed into their spiritual equivalent.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It alone. is the medium through which prayer may be
- 2:50Speaker 1: transmitted to the source capable of answering prayer. The possibilities
- 2:54Speaker 1: of creative effort connected with the subconscious mind are stupendous
- 2:59Speaker 1: and imponderable. They inspire one with awe. I never approach
- 3:05Speaker 1: the discussion of the subconscious mind without a feeling of
- 3:08Speaker 1: littleness and inferiority, due, perhaps, to the fact that man's
- 3:13Speaker 1: entire stock of knowledge on this subject is so pitifully limited.
- 3:17Speaker 1: The very fact that the subconscious mind is the medium
- 3:20Speaker 1: of communication between the thinking mind of man and infinite
- 3:24Speaker 1: intelligence is, of itself, a thought which almost paralyzes one's reason.
- 3:30Speaker 1: After you have accepted, as a reality, the existence of
- 3:33Speaker 1: the subconscious mind and understand its possibilities as a medium
- 3:38Speaker 1: for transmuting your desires into their physical or monetary equivalent,
- 3:42Speaker 1: you will comprehend the full significance of the instructions given
- 3:46Speaker 1: in the chapter on desire. You will also understand why
- 3:49Speaker 1: you have been repeatedly admonished to make your desires clear
- 3:53Speaker 1: and to reduce them to writing. You will also understand
- 3:57Speaker 1: the necessity of persistence in carrying out instructions. The 13
- 4:01Speaker 1: principles are the stimuli with which you acquire the ability
- 4:05Speaker 1: to reach and to influence your subconscious mind. Do not
- 4:09Speaker 1: become discouraged if you cannot do this upon the first attempt.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Remember that the subconscious mind may be voluntarily directed only
- 4:17Speaker 1: through habit under the directions given in the chapter on faith.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You have not yet had time to master faith. Be patient.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Be persistent. A good many statements in the chapters on
- 4:30Speaker 1: faith and autosuggestion will be repeated here for the benefit
- 4:33Speaker 1: of your subconscious mind. Remember, your subconscious mind functions voluntarily
- 4:39Speaker 1: whether you make any effort to influence it or not. This, naturally,
- 4:44Speaker 1: suggests to you that thoughts of fear and poverty and
- 4:47Speaker 1: all negative thoughts serve as stimuli to your subconscious mind,
- 4:51Speaker 1: unless you master these impulses and give it more desirable
- 4:55Speaker 1: food upon which it may feed. The subconscious mind will
- 4:59Speaker 1: not remain idle. If you fail to plant desires in
- 5:03Speaker 1: your subconscious mind, it will feed upon the thoughts which
- 5:06Speaker 1: reach it as the result of your neglect. We have
- 5:09Speaker 1: already explained that thought impulses, both negative and positive, are
- 5:13Speaker 1: reaching the subconscious mind continuously from the four sources which
- 5:17Speaker 1: were mentioned in the chapter on sex transmutation. For the present,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it is sufficient if you remember that you are living
- 5:24Speaker 1: daily in the midst of all manner of thought impulses
- 5:27Speaker 1: which are reaching your subconscious mind without your knowledge. Some
- 5:32Speaker 1: of these impulses are negative, some are positive. You are
- 5:36Speaker 1: now engaged in trying to help shut off the flow
- 5:38Speaker 1: of negative impulses and to aid in voluntarily influencing your
- 5:42Speaker 1: subconscious mind through positive impulses of desire. When you achieve this,
- 5:48Speaker 1: you will possess the key which unlocks the door to
- 5:51Speaker 1: your subconscious mind. Moreover, you will control that door so
- 5:56Speaker 1: completely that no undesirable thought may influence your subconscious mind.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Everything which man creates begins in the form of a
- 6:05Speaker 1: thought impulse. Man can create nothing which he does not
- 6:08Speaker 1: first conceive in thought. Through the aid of the imagination,
- 6:13Speaker 1: thought impulses may be assembled into plans. The imagination, when
- 6:17Speaker 1: under control, may be used for the creation of plans
- 6:21Speaker 1: or purposes that lead to success in one's chosen occupation.
- 6:25Speaker 1: All thought impulses, intended for transmutation into their physical equivalent,
- 6:30Speaker 1: voluntarily planted in the subconscious mind, must pass through the
- 6:34Speaker 1: imagination and be mixed with faith. The mixing of faith
- 6:39Speaker 1: with a plan or purpose intended for submission to the
- 6:43Speaker 1: subconscious mind may be done only through the imagination. From
- 6:47Speaker 1: these statements, you will readily observe that voluntary use of
- 6:51Speaker 1: the subconscious mind calls for coordination and application of all
- 6:56Speaker 1: the principles. Ella Wheeler Wilcox gave evidence of her understanding
- 7:00Speaker 1: of the power of the subconscious mind when she wrote,
- 7:04Speaker 1: You never can tell what a thought will do in
- 7:07Speaker 1: bringing you hate or love. For thoughts are things, and
- 7:11Speaker 1: their airy wings are swifter than carrier doves. They follow
- 7:17Speaker 1: the law of the universe. Each thing creates its kind,
- 7:22Speaker 1: and they speed over the track to bring you back.
- 7:26Speaker 1: whatever went out from your mind. Mrs. Wilcox understood the truth,
- 7:31Speaker 1: that thoughts which go out from one's mind also embed
- 7:35Speaker 1: themselves deeply in one's subconscious mind, where they serve as
- 7:38Speaker 1: a magnet, pattern, or blueprint by which the subconscious mind
- 7:43Speaker 1: is influenced while translating them into their physical equivalent. Thoughts
- 7:47Speaker 1: are truly things, for the reason that every material thing
- 7:51Speaker 1: begins in the form of thought-energy. The subconscious mind is
- 7:55Speaker 1: more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed with
- 7:59Speaker 1: feeling or emotion than by those originating solely in the
- 8:03Speaker 1: reasoning portion of the mind. In fact, there is much
- 8:07Speaker 1: evidence to support the theory that only emotionalized thoughts have
- 8:11Speaker 1: any action influence upon the subconscious mind. It is a
- 8:15Speaker 1: well-known fact that emotion or feeling rules the majority of people.
- 8:20Speaker 1: If it is true that the subconscious mind responds more
- 8:23Speaker 1: quickly to and is influenced more readily by thought impulses
- 8:27Speaker 1: which are well mixed with emotion, it is essential to
- 8:30Speaker 1: become familiar with the more important of the emotions. There
- 8:34Speaker 1: are seven major positive emotions and seven major negative emotions.
- 8:39Speaker 1: The negatives voluntarily inject themselves into the thought impulses which
- 8:44Speaker 1: ensure passage into the subconscious mind. The positives must be injected.
- 8:49Speaker 1: through the principle of autosuggestion, into the thought impulses which
- 8:53Speaker 1: an individual wishes to pass on to his subconscious mind.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Instructions have been given in the chapter on autosuggestion. These emotions,
- 9:02Speaker 1: or feeling impulses, may be likened to yeast in a
- 9:06Speaker 1: loaf of bread because they constitute the action element which
- 9:10Speaker 1: transforms thought impulses from the passive to the active state.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Thus may one understand why thought impulses, which have been
- 9:17Speaker 1: well mixed with emotion, are acted upon more readily than
- 9:21Speaker 1: thought impulses originating in cold reason. You are preparing yourself
- 9:26Speaker 1: to influence and control the inner audience of your subconscious
- 9:30Speaker 1: mind in order to hand over to it the desire
- 9:33Speaker 1: for money, which you wish transmuted into its monetary equivalent.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It is essential, therefore, that you understand the method of
- 9:41Speaker 1: approach to this inner audience. You must speak its language
- 9:45Speaker 1: or it will not heed your call. It understands best
- 9:49Speaker 1: the language of emotion or feeling. Let us therefore describe
- 9:53Speaker 1: here the seven major positive emotions and the seven major
- 9:57Speaker 1: negative emotions so that you may draw upon the positives
- 10:01Speaker 1: and avoid the negatives when giving instructions to your subconscious mind.
- 10:06Speaker 1: The Seven Major Positive Emotions The Emotion of Desire The
- 10:13Speaker 1: Emotion of Faith The Emotion of Love The Emotion of
- 10:18Speaker 1: Sex The emotion of enthusiasm. The emotion of romance. The
- 10:24Speaker 1: emotion of hope. There are other positive emotions, but these
- 10:29Speaker 1: are the seven most powerful and the ones most commonly
- 10:32Speaker 1: used in creative effort. Master these seven emotions. They can
- 10:37Speaker 1: be mastered only by use. And the other positive emotions
- 10:41Speaker 1: will be at your command when you need them. Remember,
- 10:45Speaker 1: in this connection, that you are studying a book which
- 10:47Speaker 1: is intended to help you develop a money consciousness by
- 10:51Speaker 1: filling your mind with positive emotions. One does not become
- 10:55Speaker 1: money conscious by filling one's mind with negative emotions. The
- 11:00Speaker 1: seven major negative emotions to be avoided. The emotion of fear.
- 11:08Speaker 1: The emotion of jealousy. The emotion of hatred. The emotion
- 11:13Speaker 1: of revenge. The emotion of greed. The emotion of superstition.
- 11:20Speaker 1: The emotion of anger. Positive and negative emotions cannot occupy
- 11:25Speaker 1: the mind at the same time. One or the other
- 11:28Speaker 1: must dominate. It is your responsibility to make sure that
- 11:32Speaker 1: positive emotions constitute the dominating influence of your mind. Here,
- 11:37Speaker 1: the law of habit will come to your aid. Form
- 11:40Speaker 1: the habit of applying and using the positive emotions. Eventually,
- 11:45Speaker 1: they will dominate your mind so completely that the negatives
- 11:48Speaker 1: cannot enter it. Only by following these instructions literally and
- 11:53Speaker 1: continuously can you gain control over your subconscious mind. The
- 11:57Speaker 1: presence of a single negative in your conscious mind is
- 12:00Speaker 1: sufficient to destroy all chances of constructive aid from your
- 12:04Speaker 1: subconscious mind. If you are an observing person, you must
- 12:08Speaker 1: have noticed that most people resort to prayer only after
- 12:12Speaker 1: everything else has failed. or else they pray by a
- 12:15Speaker 1: ritual of meaningless words. And, because it is a fact
- 12:19Speaker 1: that most people who pray do so only after everything
- 12:22Speaker 1: else has failed, they go to prayer with their minds
- 12:25Speaker 1: filled with fear and doubt, which are the emotions the
- 12:29Speaker 1: subconscious mind acts upon and passes on to infinite intelligence. Likewise,
- 12:34Speaker 1: that is the emotion which infinite intelligence receives and acts upon.
- 12:40Speaker 1: If you pray for a thing, but have fear as
- 12:42Speaker 1: you pray that you may not receive it, or that
- 12:45Speaker 1: your prayer will not be acted upon by infinite intelligence,
- 12:49Speaker 1: your prayer will have been in vain. Prayer does, sometimes,
- 12:54Speaker 1: result in the realization of that for which one prays.
- 12:58Speaker 1: If you have ever had the experience of receiving that
- 13:00Speaker 1: for which you prayed, go back in your memory and
- 13:03Speaker 1: recall your actual state of mind while you were praying,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and you will know for sure that the theory here
- 13:10Speaker 1: described is more than a theory. The time will come
- 13:14Speaker 1: when the schools and educational institutions of the country will
- 13:17Speaker 1: teach the science of prayer. Moreover, then prayer may be
- 13:22Speaker 1: and will be reduced to a science. When that time comes,
- 13:26Speaker 1: it will come as soon as mankind is ready for
- 13:29Speaker 1: it and demands it, no one will approach the universal
- 13:32Speaker 1: mind in a state of fear for the very good
- 13:35Speaker 1: reason that there will be no such emotion as fear. Ignorance, superstition,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and false teaching will have disappeared, and man will have
- 13:43Speaker 1: attained his true status as a child of infinite intelligence.
- 13:48Speaker 1: A few have already attained this blessing. If you believe
- 13:51Speaker 1: this prophecy is far-fetched, take a look at the human
- 13:55Speaker 1: race in retrospect. Less than a hundred years ago, men
- 13:58Speaker 1: believed the lightning to be evidence of the wrath of
- 14:01Speaker 1: God and feared it. Now, thanks to the power of faith,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Men have harnessed the lightning and made it turn the
- 14:08Speaker 1: wheels of industry. Much less than a hundred years ago,
- 14:12Speaker 1: men believed the space between the planets to be nothing
- 14:15Speaker 1: but a great void, a stretch of dead nothingness. Now,
- 14:19Speaker 1: thanks to this same power of faith, men know that
- 14:22Speaker 1: far from being either dead or a void, the space
- 14:26Speaker 1: between the planets is very much alive, that it is
- 14:29Speaker 1: the highest form of vibration known, excepting, perhaps, the vibration
- 14:33Speaker 1: of thought. Moreover, Men know that this living, pulsating, vibratory
- 14:39Speaker 1: energy which permeates every atom of matter and fills every
- 14:43Speaker 1: niche of space connects every human brain with every other
- 14:47Speaker 1: human brain. What reason have men to believe that this
- 14:50Speaker 1: same energy does not connect every human brain with infinite intelligence?
- 14:56Speaker 1: There are no toll gates between the finite mind of
- 14:59Speaker 1: man and infinite intelligence. The communication costs nothing except patience, faith, persistence, understanding,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and a sincere desire to communicate. Moreover, the approach can
- 15:12Speaker 1: be made only by the individual himself. Paid prayers are worthless.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Infinite intelligence does no business by proxy. You either go
- 15:21Speaker 1: direct or you do not communicate. You may buy prayer
- 15:25Speaker 1: books and repeat them until the day of your doom
- 15:28Speaker 1: without avail. Thoughts which you wish to communicate to infinite
- 15:32Speaker 1: intelligence must undergo transformations, such as can be given only
- 15:36Speaker 1: through your own subconscious mind. The method by which you
- 15:41Speaker 1: may communicate with infinite intelligence is very similar to that
- 15:44Speaker 1: through which the vibration of sound is communicated by radio.
- 15:49Speaker 1: If you understand the working principle of radio, you of
- 15:52Speaker 1: course know that sound cannot be communicated through the ether
- 15:56Speaker 1: until it has been stepped up or changed into a
- 15:59Speaker 1: rate of vibration which the human ear cannot detect. The
- 16:03Speaker 1: radio sending station picks up the sound of the human
- 16:06Speaker 1: voice and scrambles or modifies it by stepping up the
- 16:10Speaker 1: vibration millions of times. Only in this way can the
- 16:14Speaker 1: vibration of sound be communicated through the ether. After this
- 16:19Speaker 1: transformation has taken place, the ether picks up the energy,
- 16:23Speaker 1: which originally was in the form of vibrations of sound,
- 16:26Speaker 1: carries that energy to radio receiving stations, and these receiving
- 16:31Speaker 1: sets step that energy back down to its original rate
- 16:34Speaker 1: of vibration so it is recognized as sound. The subconscious
- 16:38Speaker 1: mind is the intermediary, which translates one's prayers into terms
- 16:43Speaker 1: which infinite intelligence can recognize, presents the message, and brings
- 16:47Speaker 1: back the answer in the form of a definite plan
- 16:50Speaker 1: or idea for procuring the object of the prayer. Understand
- 16:54Speaker 1: this principle. and you will know why mere words read
- 16:58Speaker 1: from a prayer book cannot and will never serve as
- 17:00Speaker 1: an agency of communication between the mind of man and
- 17:04Speaker 1: infinite intelligence. Before your prayer will reach infinite intelligence, a
- 17:10Speaker 1: statement of the author's theory only, it probably is transformed
- 17:14Speaker 1: from its original thought vibration into terms of spiritual vibration.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Faith is the only known agency which will give your
- 17:22Speaker 1: thoughts a spiritual nature. Faith and fear make poor bedfellows.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Where one is found, the other cannot exist. You have
- 17:44Speaker 1: been listening to Think and Grow Rich, written by Napoleon Hill.
