- 0:15Speaker 2: and updates and analysis. Go to lizpeak dot com lizpeak
- 0:20Speaker 2: dot com, Lizpeak. How you doing.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I'm terrific. Thanks for having me on, Mark.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Hey, China trip couldn't have gone any better. Don't you agree?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Well, I think the market certainly doesn't agree. I think
- 0:35Speaker 1: a couple of things. One, I think that there was
- 0:38Speaker 1: a lot of optimism that Trump would would get G
- 0:43Speaker 1: President G to agree to some breakthrough in Iran in
- 0:49Speaker 1: opening up the strait of horror moves. Supposedly g bought
- 0:53Speaker 1: into the idea that that was a good idea and evidence,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you know, no resistance to it. But I didn't see
- 1:01Speaker 1: anything really come out that in the way of a
- 1:02Speaker 1: concrete move on his part, like picking up the phone
- 1:06Speaker 1: and telling the IRGC to open up the straight. I
- 1:10Speaker 1: think in terms of commerce, yeah, it was a good move.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I think, you know, I think the biggest thing was
- 1:19Speaker 1: that she had to look tough to his people after
- 1:24Speaker 1: all the United States, I mean imagine this drama of
- 1:28Speaker 1: President Trump arriving with a fay lanx of world leaders
- 1:34Speaker 1: in global finance, production, manufacturing, technology, etc. I mean, what
- 1:40Speaker 1: a powerful symbol that was of American dominance, right. I mean,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and think about china situation right now. They are losing
- 1:50Speaker 1: in terms of their economy. Their economy has enormous ongoing
- 1:55Speaker 1: impediments like a demographic cliff. They're actually shrinking in terms
- 1:59Speaker 1: of people in the workforce. They have enormous amounts of debt,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and they can't get consumers to spend. So they're actually
- 2:07Speaker 1: gone back to their export driven model, meaning they are
- 2:10Speaker 1: actually are dependent on the United States because this is
- 2:13Speaker 1: where the action is. They're losing an artificial intelligence leadership.
- 2:18Speaker 1: God knows, they're losing in energy leadership. So I think
- 2:23Speaker 1: the whole bravado about Taiwan and how America should be
- 2:28Speaker 1: careful about Taiwan, I thought it was complete stage craft.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I think it was totally to convince the people of
- 2:35Speaker 1: China that g belongs on that world stage with Donald Trump.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And frankly, right now, I think there's an argument that
- 2:42Speaker 1: he does not.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, you're right. You know, Trump showed up with
- 2:46Speaker 2: the greatest business leaders in the world. It was an
- 2:48Speaker 2: impressive Joe Biden showed up with Hunter the crack addict son.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That's a good point. I mean, it's an amazing contrast though, right,
- 2:58Speaker 1: And apparently I have to dig into this a little
- 3:02Speaker 1: bit more, but I read a couple of accounts this
- 3:03Speaker 1: morning that the Chinese were not expecting those American business
- 3:08Speaker 1: leaders to be part of the delegation, that they would
- 3:11Speaker 1: be part of the conversations. They were, And again I
- 3:15Speaker 1: think it was Trump. It wasn't quite bombing Syria over
- 3:18Speaker 1: chocolate cake, but it was kind of like in your face,
- 3:21Speaker 1: she this is who we are, who do you got?
- 3:24Speaker 1: And does he have some business leaders? Yeah, but they're
- 3:27Speaker 1: terrified because in the past sometimes you end up being
- 3:31Speaker 1: disappeared or going to jail in China, true true story.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So I thought it was I think in people in
- 3:41Speaker 1: a way that people don't really understand. I thought it
- 3:43Speaker 1: was absolutely a brilliant trip for reasons other than maybe
- 3:48Speaker 1: what was obvious.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, now a president, she agreed to help in Iran,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and he agreed to this, He agreed to. But the
- 3:54Speaker 2: thing is, China has never ever lived up to any
- 3:57Speaker 2: agreement they've ever met, So what do we make of that.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you know, they're going to buy some soybeans,
- 4:03Speaker 1: presumably they need soy beans. They're going to buy some
- 4:05Speaker 1: planes because they want some planes. I think all that
- 4:09Speaker 1: was sort of foretold. But again remember that for she
- 4:15Speaker 1: and one of his comments talked about how many five
- 4:18Speaker 1: year plans they've had. Well for at least four or
- 4:20Speaker 1: five of those five year plans, they've talked about the
- 4:22Speaker 1: necessity of getting away from being an export driven economy,
- 4:26Speaker 1: get away from infrastructure spending, relying on Chinese consumers to
- 4:31Speaker 1: take up the ball and run with it, and they haven't.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I mean, consumer spending in China is still I'm guessing here,
- 4:38Speaker 1: but around forty percent of the economy versus seventy percent
- 4:41Speaker 1: in the US. That's an unsustainable number unless the whole
- 4:45Speaker 1: rest of the world basically takes the lead in building
- 4:49Speaker 1: your economy, which which they have, which the world has
- 4:52Speaker 1: for thirty years. But I think that's changed, and I
- 4:57Speaker 1: think that you know, China g remember about five years ago,
- 5:02Speaker 1: took on to himself the management of the economy in China.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Remember he's he took sole responsibility for it. So he's
- 5:11Speaker 1: in a weird position where Uh, he's responsible. He doesn't
- 5:15Speaker 1: really know what to do. They've they've gone back to
- 5:19Speaker 1: export driven and building, spending a lot of money that
- 5:21Speaker 1: they don't have on infrastructure. So it's it is not
- 5:25Speaker 1: a good picture for him. He needs the United States,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he needs exports. Uh and so uh, yeah, they're going
- 5:32Speaker 1: to buy some stuff. My guess is he's going to
- 5:34Speaker 1: push really hard for expanded exports into the United States
- 5:39Speaker 1: as well.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Uh, Liz peak, Let's uh, let's get to Iran.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Obviously it's a hell of a gamble. But if this
- 5:46Speaker 2: is successfully, you get rid of the worst terrorist terrorist
- 5:48Speaker 2: regime in the world, and you get side benefits like
- 5:52Speaker 2: maybe Opeck will break up. What do you think will happen?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Well, I can't. I mean, I you know, I said
- 5:58Speaker 1: this on air the other day and got kind of
- 6:00Speaker 1: slap for it. But I think there's going to have
- 6:02Speaker 1: to be another military round here. I don't think Trump
- 6:06Speaker 1: can walk away with anything but clear victory on the
- 6:11Speaker 1: no nukes ever message. He has made that the cornerstone
- 6:16Speaker 1: of our military offense in Iran. I think he's totally
- 6:20Speaker 1: right to do it, but he can't leave it halfway.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And I think right now it's all bluster. The economy
- 6:28Speaker 1: there is collapsing, I mean literally collapsing. The local currency
- 6:33Speaker 1: has zero value. If you put in the local currency
- 6:36Speaker 1: as an exchange rate comes up zero basically versus the dollar.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And so their bluster is bluster. And they do have
- 6:45Speaker 1: some missiles left, yeah they do. But we have to
- 6:48Speaker 1: finish this off, and I think regime change is necessary,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and I think absolutely eliminating any potential of a nuclear
- 6:56Speaker 1: threat down the road is also incredibly essential. So I
- 6:59Speaker 1: think there'll be some other round of hostilities.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah, well that might not be a bad thing. You're right.
- 7:07Speaker 2: You got to finish the job. And then what happens
- 7:09Speaker 2: to oil and what happens to inflation.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Well, if they open up, if the Strait of Hormuz
- 7:14Speaker 1: opens up overnight, the price of oil will come down
- 7:17Speaker 1: twenty percent and it'll continue to drift down as oil
- 7:21Speaker 1: begins to flow through the strait. There has been some
- 7:25Speaker 1: damage done to oil infrastructure in the Middle East. It'll
- 7:27Speaker 1: be repaired in a year, will be back to where
- 7:30Speaker 1: we are, and oil prices will be down to sixty
- 7:33Speaker 1: dollars again, if not lower. Because I think people are
- 7:37Speaker 1: really underestimating what's going on. In Venezuela. What's going on
- 7:41Speaker 1: in Alaska. You know, Alaska production in the next couple
- 7:44Speaker 1: of years is going to be up half a million
- 7:45Speaker 1: barrels a door day, and that's just incredibly powerful. And Venezuela,
- 7:52Speaker 1: it'll take a little while because Venezuela new fields are offshore,
- 7:54Speaker 1: but eventually we're going to see a pretty big bounce
- 7:57Speaker 1: there too. So again, Western Hemisphere energy, the United States
- 8:03Speaker 1: energy is in great shape. The rest of the world
- 8:06Speaker 1: has so much so too bad. You know, they placed
- 8:09Speaker 1: their bets in the wrong place, and China really did.
- 8:12Speaker 1: China really isn't a pickle in terms of oil supplies.
- 8:16Speaker 1: They may have a big strategic petroleum reserve, but they
- 8:18Speaker 1: don't have new vendors look in their way. So anyway,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I think inflation and all that will be mended is
- 8:25Speaker 1: just going to take a while.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Wow, Hey, Liz Pik Kevin Warsh takes over a new
- 8:30Speaker 2: FED chairman. He's been confirmed. Will Jerome Powell leave or
- 8:34Speaker 2: do we have to go to landlord tenant court to
- 8:36Speaker 2: get him out of the building something like that.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it's you know, look, I
- 8:41Speaker 1: think his nose is out of joint he's really furious
- 8:44Speaker 1: that Trump for charging him with, you know, potentially criminal
- 8:48Speaker 1: activity in the overruns on the cost of the FED building.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I think that was a stupid mistake on Trump's part.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'd like to now J Powell saying he's going to stay.
- 8:59Speaker 1: That's just you can have two kind of quasi FED
- 9:03Speaker 1: chairs and I think, frankly, it'll be humiliating for him.
- 9:06Speaker 1: So if I were he in the next over the summer,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I get off the board. And my guess is that's
- 9:11Speaker 1: what he'll.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Do, all Right's hope. So also, when we get rid
- 9:16Speaker 2: of Kathy Hochel, we want Bruce Blakeman to win, start
- 9:19Speaker 2: to get the normal samee management back into New York.
- 9:23Speaker 2: You think it could happen.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Mark, you need a revolution in the Republican Party in
- 9:29Speaker 1: New York, and I wish your luck on getting that.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Until the leadership has changed. We need energy, we need money.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We need some of the billionaires who've moved to Palm
- 9:38Speaker 1: Beach to be shaken down for money for New York.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You can't win a solid Democrat victory. I mean, you
- 9:46Speaker 1: can't overthrow this legislature. It's got to be from the
- 9:50Speaker 1: ground up. It's a huge undertaking. I wish Bruce Blakeman
- 9:54Speaker 1: all the luck in the world. I hope he wins.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to happen unless we really, really,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you see a push by the Republican leadership, and I
- 10:03Speaker 1: just don't see that happening.
- 10:04Speaker 2: That's a good point. We don't really have a Republican
- 10:06Speaker 2: Party in New York.
- 10:06Speaker 1: What we have, no, we do not, No, we don't.
- 10:09Speaker 2: These old ladies who hold these book signings in these
- 10:11Speaker 2: Republican clubs and take selfies with the author, that's about
- 10:15Speaker 2: all they do. You need a party runs the ground game,
- 10:20Speaker 2: runs all the door knocking, all that stuff that you need.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, And frankly, the National Party doesn't care
- 10:26Speaker 1: because they've just written off New York and it's a tragedy.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I mean, we have some good Republicans. I think Claudia
- 10:33Speaker 1: Tenney and Mike Lawler and Nicole Melly attackus. They're all terrific,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and you know, but if you talk to them, they despair.
- 10:41Speaker 1: They just don't get any help from the National Party
- 10:43Speaker 1: at all.
- 10:43Speaker 2: No, that's terrible. Well, really it is always Liz Peak
- 10:47Speaker 2: and everybody read her columns. You go to foxnews dot
- 10:49Speaker 2: com where else can they read them? Are the Hill?
- 10:52Speaker 1: At the Hill today, I have a piece out on
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Hill about Mamdani's budget nonsense. Yeah, and the fact Mark,
- 10:58Speaker 1: you ought to take a look, because I mean, honest,
- 11:00Speaker 1: Bernie Sanders is all over Twitter going, oh my gosh,
- 11:03Speaker 1: this is amazing. He drove the deficit to zero, blah
- 11:07Speaker 1: blah blah. By the way, it's the law that you
- 11:09Speaker 1: have to make the budget balance. All of his fixes
- 11:12Speaker 1: and little sort of puppet playing it is not going
- 11:15Speaker 1: to do the trick and people need to know it.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I think the left is terrified that Mam Donnie's failing,
- 11:21Speaker 1: so they're stepping up here big time in social media
- 11:24Speaker 1: to back him up. And it's just really pathetic.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Well read Lizpeak's column at The Hill reader at Foxnews
- 11:30Speaker 2: dot com, but make sure you go to her website
- 11:31Speaker 2: and sign up for the daily news analysis. Go to
