- Daniel: Georgia dominates Florida. It will never get old, Clint. Clint: Nope. Daniel: Saying those words. but we're gonna have to say them a lot more times because these are two programs that Clint: We're gonna see. Daniel: are in completely different places. New first year head coach. Let me Clint: Yep. Daniel: see real quick. He rattled off four straight wins and then he has beaten Arch Manning, which Clint: Good for you. Daniel: no. And he's managed to rattle off losses to Missouri, South Carolina, and then an absolute beatdown against Georgia today. Florida was never in this game, Clint. And this is this is the point I want to start with. First of all, welcome. So glad you're here. Talking Clint: How'd do? Daniel: Dogs YouTube channel. If you guys if you know us from locked on, Clint and I are over there. here Love having you. Just a separate channel. would love it if you would subscribe. If you're not already subscribed to the newsletter, you can do that between the banter dot behive dot com. Clint and I send that every single week. But we're out here talking about Georgia football Clint: Yeah. Daniel: all the daggum time. And Clint, this was not always the prettiest game for Georgia. Georgia's defense Clint: It was not. Daniel: played great. Georgia's offense left a lot to be desired at times. Clint: Sure. Sure. Daniel: And there's a way that you could look at this game. my my son looked at me mid at halftime and he said, Well, we're we're up twenty-four to nothing. So that's good. Clint: Yeah, it's great. Daniel: But we're basically up twenty-four to nothing entirely because of Florida. Entirely because Florida has just given us the game. Roughing the kicker on the punt, penalties where Florida Clint: Yep. Yep. Daniel: shot themselves in the foot. I mean, obviously the sack fumble. scoop and score Clint: Yeah. Daniel: touchdown. you could say that was Chris Cole and Quintavus Johnson making an amazing play, which it was. But Clint: It was. Daniel: Florida looked bad. The Aaron Philo interception in the first quarter, I've never seen anything like it. I've literally never seen anything like it. He arm punted that thing underhand. It almost hit the roof. A la Anthony Richardson Clint: Me? Daniel: before Ellis Robinson caught it. three turnovers in the first half. It and he and he looked at me and he said, Well, we're not we're not exactly dominating the game. Florida's giving it to us. And and I just I want to pause and say, That's true. And in most games, that would upset me. It would upset me that Georgia's offense was not playing super great. It would upset me that I think Mike Bobo did not call a great game in this game. Clint: He did not. Daniel: It would upset me that I thought Georgia's defense was aided by some penalties on the Florida offense and and some abs and the fact that they don't have a quarterback. full stop, they don't have a quarterback. In a normal game, that would upset me. But watching Florida implode on itself, watching them absolutely collapse like a dying star. Clint: years. Daniel: Is so satisfying to me. If you don't hate Florida as much as I do, shame on you. Clint: That's the thing. Daniel: Shame on you. If you Clint: Yeah. Daniel: don't remember cocktail party after cocktail party of watching Georgia absolutely fumble the bag Clint: Yep. Daniel: and give Florida games and absolutely get waxed, watching Florida be hapless. It reminded me of Dan Mullen calling three timeouts on the first series on offense because he couldn't get lined up against Kirby Clint: There it is. Daniel: Smart. Watching them clown around to me is just as satisfying as watching Georgia dominate. And we got to see both tonight, Clint. Clint: I was just gonna say, I'm not gonna bite the thought that Florida did implode. They did implode. That is true. This to me had feels of Kentucky in previous years under a hapless coach. Daniel: Uh-huh. Clint: This had feels to me that Kirby Smart knew. He goes to Alabama and he faces a team in Tuscaloosa that he knows he's gonna have to take some shots and take some risks and do some things to get it over there. This had the feel to me of Kirby knowing if I take their best shot and they start killing themselves, an idiot gets in their way. Like an idiot just gets in another team's way of letting them shoot themselves in the foot. If you're gonna be stupid Daniel: Yeah. Clint: about it, I'll let you. Daniel: Why not? Clint: So Kirby said, okay, make my job easy. I don't care. I don't have to, I'm not trying to impress nobody. I'm comfortable Daniel: Would I? Clint: with who I am. I'm comfortable with who my team is. Fine, okay, go for it Florida. And that's what I had the feel of. I had the feel of the same exact thing in which Stoops death marched himself while we were at Kroger Field. That's the same exact feel this game was, except on top of that, our defense got four more sacks. What did we say was important about this team's success this year, Daniel? And this is where I want to go. We're talking big picture. Florida, yes, you suck and I hate you and I'm so glad you're down bad and I'm so glad we're the reason why you're having a horrible weekend. Thank you. But we talked about this team having aspirations for national championship. We said there were two main things that had to happen. And one of the main things we could wait until all the way till we get to playoffs to see happen. Thing one. We had to see this defense come up with pressure rates and not just pressure rates, but sacks. Get the quarterback onto the ground, TFLs, disruptive plays. And we did that. We saw four more, well ahead of the average of three per game that we need to be an elite level. We're now one of the best, if not the best, pass rush unit in the entire nation. People, Daniel: Four more Yes. huh. Yep. Clint: friends. Ain't no other team got dudes like us coming on blitzes, coming on stuns, coming off the edge like us. I promise Daniel: Yeah. Clint: you. Daniel: I know you're gonna get to the second thing, Clint, but I I I don't want to let this go. Four more sacks. What about eleven more tackles for loss? Cause it was not just the sacks. It was Jaden Ball in the backfield over and over and over and over again. Eleven negative yardage plays for Florida. Eleven. That's an insane number. Georgia was in the backfield all day long. Clint: I don't know what Kamari Brooks does in the weight room. I don't have his exact Daniel: Okay. Clint: stats on squat, power clean, bench. Daniel: I don't need to. No. Clint: I don't need to. All I need to have is eyes on when he, he, I'm gonna use a name and those who've been around for a while, Daniel: Go ahead. Mm-hmm. Clint: when he puts hand on you, you go down. Monty Rice was not a good athlete, was a, Good linebacker, not an incredible one, but I promise you, when that man put his hands on you, the old man strength that were residing between his wrist and his forefinger was so much that you went down instantly and I couldn't explain it to you. Kamaru Brooks, when he goes to tackle you, I see offensive players fold like a paper swan. Daniel: Yeah, I watched Jaden Ball lower his shoulder and put it into Kamari Brooks and bounce backwards. I'm talking about he was propelled backwards. Clint: Correct. Daniel: It's it is a cheap comp. Because his name is Kamari Brooks. But Clint: also. Daniel: I'll be damned, Clint, if he does not remind me of Derek Brooks, former NFL legendary linebacker, Florida State Seminole. absolute he he's built like it, Clint. He's tall, he's got broad shoulders, he is Clint: yeah. Daniel: a he is a specimen of a linebacker. Clint: you Daniel: Looks too big to be he looks as strong as he is. The thing about Clint: Correct. 6-3-2-50. Daniel: he's he's built like it. Clint: Yeah. Daniel: What's deceptive about him is how fast he is. That's what was always Clint: Ooh. Daniel: the case with Derek Brooks. I think Kamari Brooks has got a little bit of that in him. he is playing London Jr. he on the on the defensive line, he's playing out of his mind. Brooks, he's playing out of his mind. while we're on the subject, can we talk about the Clint: Keep going. Daniel: best wide receiver to play for to that plays for Georgia this year? Clint: Please. Daniel: Craig Dandrich is him. Period. Clint: people. People, every single one of your friends, not you, that talks Daniel: Not you. Clint: about Georgia not being able to recruit elite wide receivers has never seen 81 play. Daniel: That Craig Dandrich is going to set Georgia records before he leaves. That Clint: Craig Dandridge today is better talent wise than I think he might be top five in wide receivers under Kirby Smart today. And you could look Daniel: Yeah. Clint: at stats and all that crap, I don't care. Daniel: Mm-hmm. Clint: Because George is often spreads it around and gets. so many guys involved. And it always will because Daniel: Yeah. Clint: you can't take one person away when somebody's having a bad day, you go to somebody else, you go to somebody else and you try to keep everybody off balance. Craig Dandridge is him in such an incredible way, Daniel. Daniel: Yeah. Craig Dandrich is he's phenomenal. He's going to be electric for Georgia for a very long time. Y I know stats don't necessarily mean anything because you said, Georgia spreads the ball around a ton. George Pickens, as a freshman, had seven Clint: Here we go. Daniel: hundred and twenty seven receiving yards. He was forty nine catches for seven twenty seven, an average of fourteen point eight. Through eight games, and there's still a lot of season left. Craig Dandrich is already sitting at seventeen receptions. Only 17 receptions. Three hundred and ten yards for an average of eighteen point two per catch. He's averaging Clint: Mmm. Mmm. Daniel: twenty yards per catch. Clint: per catch. Daniel: He is a legitimate deep threat every time he touches the ball. I'm we'll get to it later in the week, Clint. I'm furious Georgia did not throw it down the field more in this game. I the gay the game plan was obviously very conservative, and it's hard to argue Clint: Very. Daniel: with a dominant win because Georgia got a dominant win. That's really all that matters. Unless Clint: And really. Daniel: unless there's a reason we can't or didn't throw it down the field and there's it's bigger problems or whatever. But Clint: It seemed to me, just a quick thing, we will get into it the rest of the week and we will go back and rewatch it. We'll see what Florida was doing consistent with what they've done elsewhere in other games. But this seemed to me to be, hey, Florida has a controversy at quarterback. Even if they're both hurt, they're both banged up, even if they were to both be healthy, who's gonna start? No one knows. It seemed as easy as day. You stop, bah, you're fine. All we have to do is get 14, Daniel: Yep. Clint: we have to get two scores ahead of them and we're gonna, and if we stop Ba, game's over. That's what it feels like to me. And again, this is just my immediate reaction. Daniel: Uh-huh, that's what the show is about. Clint: That's what we're all about. It seemed that Kirby Smart said, you give me two scores, I don't care what you do the rest of the game, we're gonna stop ball and the game's gonna be over. That's what it feels like they were deciding to do. We'll see more scheme, we'll see more talent, but, Dandridge. All game. Daniel: Yeah, absolutely. But when they did throw it down the field, guess who was there? Dandrich. they k it was there all game. They could have gone to it all game. Da if they were coached by Ryan Day, Dandrich would Clint: Yeah. Daniel: have had two hundred yards receiving in this game. And if they were coached by Ryan Clint: and the game could have been 21-20. Daniel: Day, Georgia would have lost to Texas earlier this year. Because that's what Ryan Day does. So you get what you get with Kirby Smart and When you don't like it, you sometimes have to just remind yourself w we're the standard of college football. Clint: We're the standard Florida sucks. This defense is incredible. This defense, by the way, we still we've played elite. Daniel: Yeah. Clint: We still haven't played our best ball. Daniel: Nope. Clint: we said that in years prior, hoping it was true because the potential was there. We were wrong on that years prior, last couple years, we didn't have the potential, we didn't have the dudes and we didn't have the ceiling. So we just had to take what we got. And sometimes when the defense surprised us, we're like, woo, good thing they showed up there, because that was a nail-biter, that was a 50-50 coin flip. This year, the defense is elite, is the best pressure unit, we're the best pressure unit in college football. Daniel: Yep, this defensive front is literally the exact opposite of the last couple of years defensive fronts. The Clint: Correct. Peace. Daniel: exact opposite. Clint: And the guys that are contributing to that, Vout & Son, Kamari Brooks, Justin Wa- Young guys. I'm trying to tell you, Daniel: Yes. Clint: not to mention Chris Cole, Raylan Wilson, Elijah Griffin, Q, Gabe Harris, those guys are showing out in incredible fashion. But- The supporting cast that's adding to that over three sacks per game are younger guys who have the best football still in front of them. And our defensive backroom, hey, Demello Jones, get yourself some confidence, Uh-oh, Khalil Barnes, why don't you go ahead and show out that you were All-American potential a couple years ago before the injury. Daniel: hey Rashawn Dinkins. How you doing? How's things going over there? Clint: Lay in the freaking lumber out there. All of sudden you tell me the defensive backroom is the top level is already playing with incredible tenacity by the way, KJ Bolton not re-injuring his leg. Insurmountably important for the end of this game. Daniel: gosh gosh gosh Clint: Okay, defensive line linebackers are playing elite and they have the best football in front of the defensive backs are now getting comfortable and confident and flying around and making plays on balls where they weren't before they were just trying to do like lockdown. Guys, this defense is elite and only getting better. Daniel: Only getting better. That's that's the ticket. We're gonna be back all week here on the Talking Dogs.
