- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Now for the last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Steve Harvey.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's good Tuesday today.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What it was good?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah, keep our coworkers in your prayers, Shirley and Junior,
- 0:16Speaker 2: just remember that also in my clothing. Let me say this,
- 0:22Speaker 2: and this is something that I'm currently dealing with and
- 0:29Speaker 2: I know a lot of people. As matter of fact,
- 0:31Speaker 2: I don't know nobody who's not dealing with it. You know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: you know when you've been praying about something and you've
- 0:39Speaker 2: prayed about it for a long time, and it's something
- 0:43Speaker 2: you've wanted and hoped for and it's been a long time,
- 0:50Speaker 2: and sometimes you get to the point where you just
- 0:53Speaker 2: you want to go, Hey, God, are you listening? I said,
- 0:55Speaker 2: this is what I want, This is what I need.
- 0:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 0:59Speaker 2: The part that you have to understand, especially if you've
- 1:02Speaker 2: been in contact with him on a regular and even
- 1:06Speaker 2: if you just started back with him or are you are?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Are you starting up with him? Now? God knows what
- 1:13Speaker 1: we need before we ask.
- 1:16Speaker 2: But the part that we got to get to is
- 1:19Speaker 2: to trust in the timing that He has. Now, this
- 1:25Speaker 2: is a tough thing to do, y'all, because God's timing
- 1:30Speaker 2: has never ever been my timing.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Ever, I don't. Don't.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I look back on all of the things I've asked
- 1:38Speaker 2: for and I found out that the answer was no.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And I think about, man, how disappointed I was. Let
- 1:44Speaker 2: me tell you something I was. I was about twenty seven,
- 1:49Speaker 2: hadn't gotten into comedy yet. I interviewed with an insurance company.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And I won't say the name of the insurance company,
- 1:59Speaker 2: but my boy had got me the interview. The man
- 2:03Speaker 2: I interviewed it with his name was either Roy Foster
- 2:06Speaker 2: or Ray Foster. And I'd been through about four or
- 2:10Speaker 2: five interviews and this was my final interview, and man,
- 2:15Speaker 2: I was so excited. This was around in eighty four,
- 2:22Speaker 2: eighty five, somewhere like that, and I was so excited. Man,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I knew I was gonna get this job. And I
- 2:28Speaker 2: went to the interview and the man told me, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: this is a final interview, and I just have one concern.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'm looking at your record and it looks like you've
- 2:37Speaker 2: moved four times over the last six years, and for that,
- 2:42Speaker 2: that just doesn't symbolize stability. He said, you want to
- 2:47Speaker 2: explain thathing. I just told her.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I said, Man, I had a couple of things happened.
- 2:50Speaker 1: He had to move. My lease went up. I moved again.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I had the twins and I had to move to
- 2:56Speaker 2: get a bigger place. He said, yeah, yeah, yeah, Yo.
- 2:58Speaker 2: All that says to me is instability. Well, sorry, we
- 3:03Speaker 2: won't be hind you at that time. And so I
- 3:06Speaker 2: got in my seventy two Chevy and I drove out
- 3:10Speaker 2: the parking lot and I was heartbroken because man, I
- 3:12Speaker 2: wanted that job so bad. And I swung around on
- 3:15Speaker 2: the freeway and I was driving past the big sign
- 3:20Speaker 2: of the insurance company as I had made that U
- 3:23Speaker 2: turn and loop, and tears was just rolling down my face.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I felt so disappointed at that moment. Man, God, you
- 3:32Speaker 2: know I need this job. I'm trying to take care
- 3:34Speaker 2: of these kids. And he said no.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Do you know what.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Had I gotten that job at guess what, I probably
- 3:44Speaker 2: wouldn't have got into comedy because that would have been
- 3:47Speaker 2: the career path I thought that I really wanted. And
- 3:50Speaker 2: God said, no, I'm not gonna do that. So the
- 3:53Speaker 2: answer is no. And as I look back over my life,
- 3:57Speaker 2: I can think of so many times that the answer
- 4:02Speaker 2: to my prayer has been no. And if it had
- 4:05Speaker 2: a been yes, what I was praying for my outcome
- 4:08Speaker 2: would have been totally different. There's no way I would
- 4:11Speaker 2: be where I am today had the answer, had he
- 4:14Speaker 2: answer to prayer the way I wanted it to. So
- 4:17Speaker 2: as I sit here today, are you sitting here today
- 4:20Speaker 2: and you've been asking for something over and over? And
- 4:23Speaker 2: I said, like I've been asking for something over and over?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Could it be possible that the answer is no? And
- 4:29Speaker 2: usually when God tells me no is because he has
- 4:32Speaker 2: a better plan. It has always worked that way. Man,
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's crazy. Hey, you know what, suppose you had stayed
- 4:40Speaker 2: with that person that you had prayed for.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Suppose you had stayed with that person that you really.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Thought was this that or the other, and you stayed
- 4:50Speaker 2: with him, would you be where you were in today?
- 4:52Speaker 1: No? Probably not.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Had you stayed there, had they not left you, had
- 4:55Speaker 2: you been able to find who you have now?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Probably not.
- 5:00Speaker 2: If you had stayed on that job that you had,
- 5:02Speaker 2: would you be in a position that you're in now?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Probably not?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Or maybe it still ain't just works itself completely out yet, y'all.
- 5:11Speaker 2: You gotta keep waking up and understanding that when God
- 5:13Speaker 2: wakes you up, it's a clear sign that he ain't
- 5:15Speaker 2: through with you yet.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So why don't you see what the process? He is quick.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Complaining all the time when it don't go your way.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Sometimes your way ain't really the best way. I've had
- 5:25Speaker 2: to discover that, as smart as I think I am,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I've really made some dumb decisions.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I really have.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Man, I done walked myself into some crazy situations. So
- 5:43Speaker 2: now I'm really just learning to trust, trusting his steps
- 5:50Speaker 2: as he's ordering of mind, because I ask Him to
- 5:53Speaker 2: order my steps and trust in his timing, and ask
- 5:57Speaker 2: God to let your plans to prosper me, let them
- 6:01Speaker 2: come true.
- 6:03Speaker 1: That's the best way to live. If you can do that, Man,
- 6:06Speaker 1: you release a lot.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Of pressure from yourself because you're trying to figure out
- 6:10Speaker 2: which way to go when God clearly has a path
- 6:12Speaker 2: for you that's already designed. Why don't you talk to
- 6:16Speaker 2: God about that? Ask God what would he have for
- 6:18Speaker 2: you to do today? Ask God to order your steps today.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Ask God to give you peace of mind and direction,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and ask God for the strength to just stand the
- 6:27Speaker 2: test and trust in his timing. God's timing is different,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but it's usually way way better. Those are my closes
- 6:34Speaker 2: remarks today. Have a go in today, y'all, Hey, listen,
- 6:38Speaker 2: talk to God today, he'd absolutely love.
- 6:40Speaker 1: To hear from you. Okay, all right, do that, y'all.
