- 0:02Hello, Hello, Episode 5. Here we go.
- 0:06I'm a little bit late getting this out, so I got to kind of
- 0:09cut to the chase and not really have as much banter as I
- 0:13typically do, You know, being a seasoned podcaster with four
- 0:19episodes under my belt. So anyway, let's get right into
- 0:24the topic here the other day. I guess it was yesterday.
- 0:28I posted a A story on my Adventures and Adversity
- 0:34Instagram podcast. If you haven't followed me,
- 0:37please do if you have a moment. I believe I'm up to 38
- 0:41followers. People I know.
- 0:43I know it's a lot. Don't be jealous anyway.
- 0:48No, for real. Follow me.
- 0:48Thanks. Yesterday I posted a story where
- 0:56I actually did one of those cold ice plunges for the first time.
- 1:01You know, super trendy, but like, actually very effective
- 1:05for all kinds of things. Mental health, inflammation,
- 1:10soreness, anxiety, depression, sickness, all kinds of things.
- 1:17Apparently it's really good. So my husband's super into that.
- 1:20Like Wellness, physical gadgets, things like that.
- 1:25And so he got this ice tub and I swear I'm going to relate this
- 1:31to Adventures University in one second.
- 1:32Let me just do the set up here. I found it really funny, like
- 1:39the whole experience of actually doing it in the backyard.
- 1:43This ice plunge was kind of crazy because I found myself
- 1:50when I did it getting like really mad and irritated while I
- 1:54was in the water because it was freaking freezing and I ended up
- 1:59staying in for about 12 minutes. But it only got numb at 5
- 2:03minutes. So I was super irritable and
- 2:05pissy saying I hate this, I hate this, I hate this over and over,
- 2:10which was amazing. Anyway, it really reminded me of
- 2:16kind of like something that I could talk about on the podcast,
- 2:19which is most things that are like worthwhile and you get
- 2:26benefits from might suck in the beginning and feel really hard
- 2:32and feel like extremely uncomfortable.
- 2:37And The funny thing was that as at about 5 minutes and like went
- 2:44totally numb and it was amazing and super relaxing.
- 2:48So the first part sucked and then it just subsided and I felt
- 2:55amazing after. Seriously.
- 2:58But can't even tell you how refreshed I felt.
- 3:03So I'm probably rambling, but what I wanted to say was, and
- 3:09I'm going to keep this episode under 5 minutes because who has
- 3:12time to listen to long episodes sometimes?
- 3:14You know what I mean? The ice bath Ice plunge that my
- 3:20husband Ryan bought for us that is sitting in our backyard is
- 3:24actually a metaphor for adversity.
- 3:29The cold water is seriously anything in your life that makes
- 3:32you uncomfortable but that you know is actually good for you.
- 3:37So you avoid doing it because you know, part of the way you'll
- 3:41be uncomfortable, even though, you know, at the end of it it's
- 3:44going to be awesome. And that's what I felt with the
- 3:47cold plunge. I seriously was so annoyed.
- 3:49Like I was my kids were like putting their finger in the ice
- 3:54tub. And you can see on the video,
- 3:55I'm like, get out of my face, Don't talk to me.
- 3:59I was very resistant to it. And then when you just, like,
- 4:04accept it, everything gets easier.
- 4:08So yeah, Adventures in an ice plunge, which actually is a
- 4:14metaphor for any challenge you go through in life.
- 4:19I'm realizing, as I say this, it's like at work, if you have a
- 4:25big project, getting started sucks because you don't know
- 4:28what you're doing for the first hour.
- 4:32And then once you get in the groove, it's great, but you
- 4:35avoid it. And then at the end of it, you
- 4:37feel amazing and you like, deliver.
- 4:41But it's those first 5 minutes in the ice plunge that suck.
- 4:45First one hour of the project where you feel kind of dumb
- 4:49sucks. The 1st 10 minutes of a party
- 4:53where you don't know anyone until you, like, find someone to
- 4:56chat to sucks. So everything is an ice plunge.
- 5:03Life is an ice plunge. Jump in anyway, All right, it's
- 5:08at 508. I got to finish up some work,
- 5:12but I'm glad I could get on the microphone and just talk about
- 5:15this because even though I'm late in posting it and I'm very
- 5:19deadline oriented, I figured, hey, why don't you just get on
- 5:23the mic and see what comes out with this whole ice plunge
- 5:26thing? And I think I'm pretty happy
- 5:28with it. All right.
- 5:30Well, I think when I post this, it will be Tuesday and all my
- 5:35faithful listeners will listen to it right away.
- 5:37Of course. So have a wonderful Tuesday.
- 5:41And just remember, if your day feels like an ice plunge, that's
- 5:46a good sign. It means good things are on the
- 5:50way. All right.
- 5:53Take care and talk to you later.
