- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with Richard K.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking you to
- 0:54Speaker 1: spend a few moments of your time with us each
- 0:57Speaker 1: day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:03Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now, here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And my God will supply all your need according to
- 1:48Speaker 2: His riches. In glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our
- 1:53Speaker 2: God and Father be glory forever and ever a man Palypians,
- 2:00Speaker 2: Chapter four, Versus nineteen and twenty. As we continue our
- 2:09Speaker 2: study in the series the Seven keys to Christian living.
- 2:14Speaker 2: We are now able to see that our message of
- 2:19Speaker 2: forgiveness is one that has the authority and commissioning of God,
- 2:25Speaker 2: and that we take that message to a lost world
- 2:30Speaker 2: locked in sin, and through doing that we may find
- 2:37Speaker 2: ourselves in situations that are dire, that are difficult, that
- 2:46Speaker 2: are unseemly. And yet we have a writing in the
- 2:53Speaker 2: middle of all of what the events are. As the
- 2:58Speaker 2: Gospel is proclaimed throughout the world, it is written by
- 3:03Speaker 2: the apostle Paul, as he writes to the gathering of
- 3:09Speaker 2: followers in Philippi. In Philippians, he says to them, as
- 3:17Speaker 2: we read in this particular portion of the scripture, he says,
- 3:24Speaker 2: beginning with the tenth verse, I rejoiced in the Lord
- 3:29Speaker 2: greatly that once again you renewed your care for me.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You were, in fact concerned about me, but lacked the
- 3:38Speaker 2: opportunity to show it. I don't say this out of me,
- 3:42Speaker 2: for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances
- 3:47Speaker 2: I am. I know both how to have a little
- 3:50Speaker 2: and I know how to have a lot, in any
- 3:53Speaker 2: and all circumstances. I have learned the secret of being content,
- 3:59Speaker 2: whether wealth or hungary, whether in abundance or in need.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I am able to do all things through Him who
- 4:07Speaker 2: strengthens me. Still, you did well by sharing with me
- 4:14Speaker 2: in my hardship. You see, one of the things that
- 4:18Speaker 2: had taken place was the followers the church at Philippi
- 4:23Speaker 2: knew that Paul was in need, and so they took
- 4:29Speaker 2: up an offering to provide to him. That may have
- 4:35Speaker 2: conveyed something while he was even under prison guard. But
- 4:42Speaker 2: he says to them, and you Philippians know that in
- 4:48Speaker 2: the early days of the Gospel, when I left Macedonia,
- 4:53Speaker 2: no church shared with me in the matter of giving
- 4:56Speaker 2: and receiving except you alone. All the followers that he
- 5:03Speaker 2: had taught, the Philippian Church chose to support Paul in
- 5:11Speaker 2: whatever way they could. He stated that, for even in Thessalonika,
- 5:17Speaker 2: you sent gifts for my needs several times. So as
- 5:22Speaker 2: they did this, he's not seeking their gift, because he says,
- 5:27Speaker 2: not that I seek the gift, but I seek the
- 5:30Speaker 2: profit that is increasing to your account. We're going to
- 5:36Speaker 2: talk about that in just a moment. But I have
- 5:38Speaker 2: received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I
- 5:43Speaker 2: am fully supplied, having received from papriditis what you provided
- 5:51Speaker 2: a fragrant offering an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And
- 5:59Speaker 2: now he says, and my God will supply all your
- 6:05Speaker 2: needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I'm in you. See, this was a prayer for the
- 6:21Speaker 2: provision of the Philippian Church. They were gracious and generous,
- 6:28Speaker 2: and they gave to the needs of the Apostle Paul.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Other churches that he had helped to plant other followers
- 6:38Speaker 2: that he had taught did not necessarily respond in the
- 6:45Speaker 2: same manner. But the Philippian Church responded, and he tells
- 6:51Speaker 2: them it wasn't because he had need. He had already
- 6:57Speaker 2: learned how to be content whatever the circumstances were that
- 7:03Speaker 2: he lived in. If he had much, he was content.
- 7:08Speaker 2: If he had little, he was content. He was not
- 7:13Speaker 2: content because of what he possessed. He was content because
- 7:18Speaker 2: of what he proclaimed his God would supply every need
- 7:26Speaker 2: that followers had. And today that is the same message
- 7:34Speaker 2: we use that scripture as a promise of God's provision.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Sometimes he uses the generosity and obedience of others to
- 7:46Speaker 2: be able to meet our need. In other cases, he
- 7:50Speaker 2: brings about miraculous provision. But that is for God to decide.
- 7:58Speaker 2: It is for us to be obedient. When we experience
- 8:05Speaker 2: God's provision, we are not to contain it. You see
- 8:12Speaker 2: the differences. We are not content in what we keep.
- 8:18Speaker 2: We are joyful in what He gives through us. That's
- 8:24Speaker 2: why the Lord says he loves a cheerful giver. We
- 8:31Speaker 2: are cheerful because giving towards the needs of others helps
- 8:39Speaker 2: us to receive the joy that the Lord provides. My
- 8:45Speaker 2: God shall supply all your need according to his riches
- 8:52Speaker 2: in God, in Christ Jesus. So think about that as
- 8:58Speaker 2: we exercise this fifth key, the key to the kingdom
- 9:07Speaker 2: of experiencing God's provision. The world teaches us that we
- 9:15Speaker 2: are to amass the fortunes that we can gain. The
- 9:21Speaker 2: Word teaches us that we are to give and give
- 9:28Speaker 2: cheerfully so that the needs of others can be met.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Do you do that? Do you experience the joy of
- 9:39Speaker 2: knowing that it truly is greater to give than to receive?
- 9:48Speaker 2: And do you know in giving not so you will receive,
- 9:54Speaker 2: but in giving regardless, My God will supply all of
- 10:02Speaker 2: your needs according to his riches in gold. In Christ Jesus.
- 10:12Speaker 2: This scripture tells us something of the willingness of God
- 10:19Speaker 2: to provide for everything needed to carry the good news
- 10:26Speaker 2: of the Gospel to all creatures, every tongue, every tribe,
- 10:33Speaker 2: every nation, teaching them to understand everything I have commanded you.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That's Jesus' authority in the Great Commission, and because of
- 10:50Speaker 2: that we understand and experience his provision. Whatever is needed
- 10:58Speaker 2: he provides. Do you know? It is demonstrated throughout all
- 11:05Speaker 2: of our lives in ways that we don't even begin
- 11:10Speaker 2: to see what others do. When Peter and John approached
- 11:16Speaker 2: the Lame beggar at the temple Gate, it was not
- 11:21Speaker 2: the silver or gold that he asked for. They knew
- 11:26Speaker 2: the need that he could receive through the riches in
- 11:31Speaker 2: glory in Christ Jesus, and they proclaimed it in the
- 11:37Speaker 2: name of Jesus Christ. Rise and walk.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 11:46Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 12:23Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again here is Richard
- 12:27Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 12:31Speaker 2: The need for a daily provision is real, but the
- 12:37Speaker 2: need for eternal relationship with God is our purpose to
- 12:45Speaker 2: convey to others. So experience God's provision as we expand
- 12:56Speaker 2: His kingdom. And My God will apply all of your
- 13:02Speaker 2: needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus
- 13:08Speaker 2: Philippian Sport, verse nineteen. And that is today's reflection on
- 13:17Speaker 2: the Word.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
