November 29, 1947, the day the UN voted in favor of Israel
Today is November 29th, Kaf-Tet B’November, which marks the 75th anniversary of the UN Palestine partition plan. It was a major, world recognized step toward statehood for the Jews as part of a two-state solution. Historian Prof. Gil Troy, weighs in on the extraordinary day. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that Israel’s leaders took the compromise and established a state, while the Palestinian leadership didn’t, and he added that Zionism continues today in finding meaning in who we are as a people.
