A woman named Emily Crissman narrowly escaped death after her car plunged into a 30-foot hole during a freak rainstorm in Surry County. Stranded in darkness with rising water, she used her smartwatch’s emergency feature to call for help—climbing onto her car’s roof while still on the phone. Rescue crews from Pilot Mountain EMS found her and pulled her to safety.
