- 0:21Speaker 1: The Great Christopher med dog Russo is with us.
- 0:24Speaker 2: He thinks this is one of the two interviews that
- 0:26Speaker 2: he owes me one of the two guests he's delivering himself.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I mean, it's unbelievable, and he thinks delivering his son
- 0:32Speaker 2: Colin on the show counts as the second one.
- 0:34Speaker 3: It does not, Doggie, absolutely, this is from the football
- 0:38Speaker 3: bat How is Fox video? They finally figured out you
- 0:41Speaker 3: don't watch the game, So what's going on? And they
- 0:44Speaker 3: finally figured that out?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yet, well listen, they weren't on to me until Radio
- 0:47Speaker 2: Row super Bowl week.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I mean, you had to tell the world that I
- 0:49Speaker 1: don't watch the sports? When do you do it? Dog?
- 0:55Speaker 3: And you gotta go to dope graduations this week. That's
- 0:57Speaker 3: the last thing you want to do his bouncing around
- 0:59Speaker 3: a country going to college graduations, even for your daughters.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Is that correct?
- 1:03Speaker 2: That is correct? I am going to Syracuse. Mike Turrico
- 1:07Speaker 2: is doing the commencement speech.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Oh is it really?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, So I've been Doggie, You'll love this.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I've been negotiating via text with tar Rico about how
- 1:16Speaker 2: to shorten the speech.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Make it ten minutes again. The hell out of there is?
- 1:23Speaker 3: What do you want to do.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yes, wouldn't you?
- 1:25Speaker 3: I mean, come on, ook, God, I went to the
- 1:28Speaker 3: commencement address. I went at Notre Dame for my daughter. Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 3: It was the ex Colombian president right. Oh my god,
- 1:37Speaker 3: he put America no pep talk. When you do a
- 1:40Speaker 3: commencement address for a bunch of college kids, give him
- 1:43Speaker 3: a little pep talk, give them a little enthusiasm, you know,
- 1:46Speaker 3: go conquer the world. I mean, geez, that's the idea
- 1:50Speaker 3: of a commencement addressed with a bunch of twenty two
- 1:53Speaker 3: year olds who are joined the workforce. Give him a
- 1:55Speaker 3: little optimism. Yep. And the one I went to a
- 1:57Speaker 3: Notre Name was the exact opposites. Anyway, do we go
- 2:00Speaker 3: on savage? So we look for that, Yes we do.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I got your beat, Doggie. I had Willie Randolph as
- 2:05Speaker 3: my commencement speaker.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Where where was that Dean? Where was that.
- 2:10Speaker 3: College? Wow? They had rand after the speech at for
- 2:19Speaker 3: him as a metal graduated with his daughter. Wow.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 4: And was he managing the Mets at the.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Time or not he had been fired from the Mets?
- 2:28Speaker 3: It was I think a year after Beltran struck out.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Looking in the.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Game and the way he ended the speech was, if
- 2:34Speaker 5: there's one piece of advice, I can give you a
- 2:36Speaker 5: swing the bat.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Swing the bat, good Lord, Carlos, swing the bat. I
- 2:42Speaker 3: like that.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Well, it's funny because Dory. It's funny because Joe Tory
- 2:45Speaker 2: wasn't available that weekend.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I mean.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Exactly. But uh, and Joe may have wanted the fortune too.
- 2:54Speaker 3: You never know with Joe. But but but the bottom
- 2:58Speaker 3: line is from that standpoint is that those commencement addresses,
- 3:01Speaker 3: I have never been asked to do one.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I'm a little disappointed. How about used to even asked
- 3:05Speaker 4: to do him?
- 3:05Speaker 3: Or not?
- 3:06Speaker 6: No?
- 3:06Speaker 2: I went to Clark University, small school. You would figure
- 3:09Speaker 2: I mean it's me and Jeffrey Lurry are the owner
- 3:11Speaker 2: of the Eagles. I mean, those are the two most
- 3:12Speaker 2: famous people ever graduate from that place. You'd figure they'd
- 3:15Speaker 2: get around there asking me, Doug, I mean, thank you
- 3:17Speaker 2: for asking.
- 3:18Speaker 3: No, I never asked you. Never asked you to never
- 3:20Speaker 3: asked me.
- 3:21Speaker 6: No.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I would pay money to watch you give a commencement speech.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I would.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Rollins College and went to Park, Florida. Here I come.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I had Anthony. I had Anthony Perkins from Psycho. Oh really,
- 3:34Speaker 3: Janet Lake Wow. In nineteen eighty two. He was a
- 3:37Speaker 3: Rollins graduate and he gave our commencement address at Rollins
- 3:41Speaker 3: in nineteen eight two. When I recall, I know it
- 3:44Speaker 3: was a pretty good one. I don't recall the theme,
- 3:46Speaker 3: but he did the commencement address and he was the
- 3:48Speaker 3: psycho the Hitchcock movie, which I believe is nineteen fifty
- 3:52Speaker 3: nine with Janet Lake.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Which was a good movie.
- 3:54Speaker 3: So the original huh yes, the original? Yes, the original.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That's you, doggy. There's something that makes me feel good
- 4:04Speaker 1: when you're proud of me.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Did you did you get around there watching Rams Seahawks
- 4:08Speaker 3: the championship game yet?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Listen, I'm just getting to the super Bowl. I mean,
- 4:14Speaker 2: so the Seahawks made it? Huh?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yes, you are hot stuff at the sports don't the
- 4:23Speaker 3: new gig? Do you like the gig here?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah? I love the gig. It's a sprint, two hours sprint.
- 4:27Speaker 1: It is easy. Listen when when listeners tune in today
- 4:30Speaker 1: to my show or your show, they're gonna hear you.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I mean, how how about that.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna run you against you.
- 4:39Speaker 3: You'll get better ratings. I promised for that. But yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 3: we've that's good. So you've enjoyed it. That's the most
- 4:47Speaker 3: important thing. How's the golf game?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Golf game is okay, not getting out there nearly enough
- 4:52Speaker 2: because I'm traveling.
- 4:52Speaker 1: How about you? Has the weather cleared enough in New York?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Collins told me it's Colin told me it's been very
- 4:57Speaker 3: hot down there on a range.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, very hot. Ninety to is today ninety four last Saturday,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it's it's and.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Rain, right, a lot of rain, he said. This weekend
- 5:05Speaker 4: the weather was terrible.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we are.
- 5:07Speaker 2: We're arriving at our I guess our winter because the
- 5:10Speaker 2: summers down here are unbere. I've told you this before, Doug.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I would rather sit through a winter than sit through
- 5:16Speaker 2: a summer down.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Here in South Florida. I would.
- 5:18Speaker 3: It's not bad.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's one hundred and ten degrees every day. I mean
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's unbelievable.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, you never get you never get a week.
- 5:25Speaker 4: You never get three or four days of a blow
- 5:26Speaker 4: from the hot weather.
- 5:27Speaker 2: No, no, not until uh not until next football season.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And by that I will have watched the Super Bowl
- 5:32Speaker 2: figured out who won last year.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I mean, yes, yess exactly. The weather has The weather
- 5:37Speaker 3: here hasn't been that great either. It's nice today, but
- 5:40Speaker 3: the weather in the Northeast stinks. We all know that
- 5:42Speaker 3: weather in the Northeast thinks. So my golf game has
- 5:44Speaker 3: been up and down. So there you go. What else?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Fill me in?
- 5:47Speaker 4: What do you got today?
- 5:48Speaker 2: You gotta be so you so you said, listen, I
- 5:51Speaker 2: don't need to travel around graduations. I need it like
- 5:53Speaker 2: I need a hole in my head. You have a
- 5:55Speaker 2: big wedding coming into town, I am told.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I mean I need that.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Like a big hole in the head too. Yes, I
- 6:01Speaker 4: have a big wedding forth coming here.
- 6:04Speaker 3: On Saturday, the Lavelle family, and I got the whole
- 6:08Speaker 3: family coming in for it, boyfriends and plus ones included.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Colin's going to be in Wisconsin for a wedding on Friday,
- 6:16Speaker 3: and he's coming to this wedding Saturday afternoon. So we
- 6:18Speaker 3: got back to back weddings. But yes, it's at three o'clock,
- 6:23Speaker 3: wedding receptions at six. Will be there about four o'clock
- 6:25Speaker 3: in the morning. It's an horish wedding, you know how
- 6:27Speaker 3: that goes. And we'll be flying. But yeah, big wedding
- 6:31Speaker 3: on Saturdays. And then I got Mother's Day on Sunday,
- 6:35Speaker 3: and then I have my and then I have my
- 6:38Speaker 3: mother's birthday coming up on Friday on the ninth. My
- 6:43Speaker 3: mother's birthday is the ninth, The wedding is the ninth.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Mother's Day is. Mother's Day is Sunday, and I have
- 6:50Speaker 3: my anniversary tomorrow night. Jeez, that's a And I got
- 6:53Speaker 3: a rehearsal dinner on Friday night.
- 6:55Speaker 4: That is a disaster.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Let me go to sleep. Let me go to sleep
- 6:59Speaker 3: now and wake me up on Tuesday. Let me go
- 7:01Speaker 3: to sleep now and wake me up on Tuesday.
- 7:03Speaker 1: All right, but at least you knock it all out
- 7:04Speaker 1: one weekend.
- 7:05Speaker 3: It seems like, I mean, so that's a good point.
- 7:08Speaker 3: It doesn't drag.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I get it done in one weekend.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And you know, Timmy is forthcoming and he wants to
- 7:13Speaker 3: play a lot of golf this weekend, coming up from
- 7:15Speaker 3: northern Arizona. And he he scheduled Sunday morning at ten
- 7:19Speaker 3: I said, tim, Tim, use your noodle. That's Mother's Day.
- 7:24Speaker 3: You want to play golf. Let me work on mom.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You can't play, so you can't come home hit the
- 7:30Speaker 3: golf course Sunday at nine am. That is that's not
- 7:34Speaker 3: just death for you, that's death for me. Because I'm
- 7:37Speaker 3: the one who introduced you to golf run out loud
- 7:39Speaker 3: so that you can't do. So I got him off
- 7:41Speaker 3: that and I'm taking the two boys by the way
- 7:44Speaker 3: to Springsteen on Monday night. Oh wow, so they have
- 7:47Speaker 3: Timmy has seen him. Colin as not. So that'd be fun.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Masion Square Garden.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I will tell you for I will. That sounds like
- 7:53Speaker 1: a blast dog. I will tell you.
- 7:54Speaker 2: If I tell my wife I'm playing golf Mother's Day,
- 7:56Speaker 2: she'll play. She'll tell me play thirty six. I mean
- 7:58Speaker 2: that's the game to get the hell out of my house.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I have of that.
- 8:03Speaker 3: That would be fun. My wife would go to the
- 8:06Speaker 3: other way. Did you see Sphings Steve when he went
- 8:08Speaker 3: down there April twenty third? Did you have any desire
- 8:10Speaker 3: to see him there or no?
- 8:11Speaker 2: No, I have desire to see him, and I have
- 8:13Speaker 2: seen him. I did not see him when he was
- 8:14Speaker 2: down here.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Now you did not know. Was it a big Was
- 8:18Speaker 3: it a big news item when Bruce played Sunrise or yes?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah, always a big deal when Bruce comes into town. Yes,
- 8:23Speaker 2: any town for that matter.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Yes, anytime. Okay, very good. Oh yeah, so I got
- 8:27Speaker 4: a big weekend. The golf sports is what it is
- 8:31Speaker 4: right now.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm working on vacation time this summer good and I
- 8:34Speaker 3: got a funny feeling serious.
- 8:36Speaker 4: May not see me for about three and.
- 8:37Speaker 3: A half months.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I might pull up, I might pull a studots.
- 8:40Speaker 3: And just disappear and away we go.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Well you've heard yes.
- 8:44Speaker 3: No, I mean, you know earned it is. Whatever. I'm
- 8:47Speaker 3: sixty six, I'm your age. I'm getting old. So I
- 8:49Speaker 3: want to go out there and try to enjoy a
- 8:51Speaker 3: summertime and not necessarily have to do work day in
- 8:54Speaker 3: and day out. Right, I'm working on that and this
- 8:57Speaker 3: and this, and you got the obviously the first take,
- 8:59Speaker 3: which I gotta do these next couple of days so they.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Have it all my age, Go ahead, Taylor Dog, as
- 9:05Speaker 6: a veteran of the game, how do you juggle your
- 9:08Speaker 6: anniversary with seventy six ers Nicks tipping off at seven
- 9:12Speaker 6: pm tomorrow?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Now? He he does, He likes that.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I will miss a good part of that game. Dinner
- 9:20Speaker 3: at six point thirty. I'll be home by eight point fifteen.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You know, if the Sixers are competitive, I'll be all
- 9:27Speaker 3: over the last fifteen to eighteen minutes of game time.
- 9:31Speaker 3: But you know, what are you gonna do? You can't
- 9:34Speaker 3: revolve your life around sports, right, you can't at this point.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know, if you have to go to weddings. You
- 9:40Speaker 3: got lacrosse games. Ye, you know, I have anniversaries, this, that,
- 9:45Speaker 3: and the other, golf tournaments. Whatever I want to do.
- 9:47Speaker 3: You can't revolve. You're not twenty five anymore. Where you
- 9:51Speaker 3: have to you don't have to do it nowadays. Yep.
- 9:54Speaker 3: If it fits in my window, fits in my window.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Give you an example. Last night San Antonio, Minnesota. It's
- 10:00Speaker 3: halftime at five to eleven. Well, I think it was
- 10:03Speaker 3: forty five, forty five something like that. I did not
- 10:06Speaker 3: stay up for the second half. All right, Wow, if
- 10:07Speaker 3: you're going to start the game, if you're going to
- 10:09Speaker 3: start the game at nine forty two on the East Coast,
- 10:14Speaker 3: whether you want me or not, I'm not on a weeknight.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I'm not going to be there at one am. It's
- 10:20Speaker 3: not going to be there.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Fair Doggie.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Let's talk about John Sterling for a for a second
- 10:36Speaker 2: here he passed away, if you wouldn't mind, Doggy, because
- 10:39Speaker 2: obviously you and Mike did your show WFA and at
- 10:42Speaker 2: the height of what I would say was John Sterling
- 10:45Speaker 2: him at the height of his powers.
- 10:46Speaker 1: What does he mean to that city, to that market
- 10:48Speaker 1: to that fan base.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Well, he was the voice of the Yankees when they
- 10:52Speaker 3: were great for about fifteen twenty years, even more than that,
- 10:56Speaker 3: beginning in say ninety four, ninety five, and take you
- 11:00Speaker 3: can get all the way to you know, twenty and twenty.
- 11:03Speaker 3: You know, at least, you know, at least they say
- 11:05Speaker 3: through twenty ten, he had, you know, historic calls, whether
- 11:10Speaker 3: it's Brochus, Tino Martinez, Jeter with the home run against Arizona, boons,
- 11:14Speaker 3: homer against the Red Sox, four Worlds Championships, two perfect games,
- 11:20Speaker 3: that is an iconic team, Tory, who is very close
- 11:23Speaker 3: to Tory the manager of course there who won the
- 11:26Speaker 3: four titles. Uh, you know, very very significant feature. I
- 11:30Speaker 3: mean his calls not everybody's cup of tea, Yankees win,
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yankees win, and on a bomb by a Rod and
- 11:37Speaker 3: all that. Not everybody loves that stuff. But I mean
- 11:41Speaker 3: when you are the voice of the Yankees for thirty
- 11:44Speaker 3: five thirty six years, which includes five titles, four for Tory,
- 11:50Speaker 3: one for Girardi, five championships, and other World Series appearances
- 11:55Speaker 3: in years where they had drama, like when they Boone
- 11:57Speaker 3: hit the homer, they didn't win it that year. The
- 11:59Speaker 3: Mornings beat them right three. But when you day's a
- 12:02Speaker 3: perfect example. You know, the year that that Jeter made
- 12:07Speaker 3: the play in Oakland won nothing. The Yankees didn't win
- 12:09Speaker 3: it that year, Arizona did. But I mean, when you
- 12:12Speaker 3: have that much and he never missed the game, and
- 12:16Speaker 3: he's a quirky guy. You know, John is a quirky guy.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Was a quirky guy who had fun doing the ball games,
- 12:22Speaker 3: didn't care what people said about him on social media.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Had a great career before he became the Yankee broadcast.
- 12:29Speaker 3: This is the guy who did we all know the
- 12:31Speaker 3: Hawks talk shows, the Nets, the Islanders, the Braves, you know, TBS.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I mean, he had a heck of a career and
- 12:40Speaker 3: he didn't end into two years ago for Plant Out Loud.
- 12:43Speaker 3: He was in the mic. You know, he retired and
- 12:45Speaker 3: then they brought him back for the postseason two years
- 12:47Speaker 3: ago because of the fact that he retired the beginning
- 12:50Speaker 3: of the year, and then he came back when the
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yankees made that postseason run, but was behind the microphone
- 12:55Speaker 3: when Freeman hit the Grand Slam for the Dodgers, which
- 12:58Speaker 3: beat the Yankees. So I mean, even this is only
- 13:01Speaker 3: a couple of years ago and he called that home run.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Properly, very very significant.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Again, Met fan doesn't love him, you know, the Met
- 13:08Speaker 3: fan's not gonna oop for anybody with the Yankees. But
- 13:11Speaker 3: the Yankees is such a big franchise, you know, and
- 13:14Speaker 3: he had so many iconic calls and big spots. He's
- 13:19Speaker 3: a significant part of New York sports culture for you know,
- 13:22Speaker 3: he did five thousand games in a row for frand
- 13:24Speaker 3: in the game.
- 13:25Speaker 4: And he did every and he did every inning.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, when Kay lefts to go do the
- 13:30Speaker 3: Yes Network, they bought Susan in. He did every inning.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Susan didn't do any of the innings. Kay did two innings,
- 13:36Speaker 3: Kate did the I think he did the third, fourth,
- 13:40Speaker 3: and seventh. I think Kay may have done three innings,
- 13:43Speaker 3: but I mean Susan the doing innings. So in the
- 13:45Speaker 3: last twenty something years of his Yankee broadcasting career, he
- 13:48Speaker 3: did every inning of every game. Amazing. That's amazing, and
- 13:52Speaker 3: five thousand of them in a row. For find out
- 13:54Speaker 3: unbelievable dog.
- 13:55Speaker 5: My personal favorite is the Hideki Matsui. It's a thriller
- 13:59Speaker 5: by Godzilla. Call well, Mike, actually, Mike Francesa actually gave
- 14:02Speaker 5: you credit for the sterling calls taking off the way
- 14:05Speaker 5: it did because Sterling loved Your Guys Show. He would
- 14:08Speaker 5: listen to Mike and the Mad Dog on the way
- 14:10Speaker 5: into the ballpark. He would hear you playing his clips
- 14:13Speaker 5: over and over. What do you remember most about how
- 14:15Speaker 5: excited Sterling would get when you would play his calls
- 14:18Speaker 5: on the show.
- 14:19Speaker 3: No, everybody's got a big ego and everybody enjoyed it.
- 14:22Speaker 3: He everybody's going to enjoy his calls on the air
- 14:24Speaker 3: on the Afternoon Drive. I think it may have been
- 14:26Speaker 3: Bob Gelb who made us play those calls. He was
- 14:30Speaker 3: our radio producer at the time for nine years. It
- 14:33Speaker 3: may have been more his idea than anybody else's. So
- 14:36Speaker 3: maybe Mike's giving me the credit that Bob deserves the credit.
- 14:39Speaker 3: But regardless of that, we had starting.
- 14:41Speaker 4: On a lot.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Mike and I did a lot of games with the
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yankees in postseason when we did the games in the
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yankee radio booth. Before starting, walked in there and called
- 14:49Speaker 3: the games. So we had a good relationship with Sterning.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Plus Mike loved the Yankees and he got a kick
- 14:55Speaker 3: out of Stunning's calls.
- 14:57Speaker 4: And remember one thing about starting till you can make
- 14:58Speaker 4: fun of his calls.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Right, you know, there's a long drive to left and
- 15:02Speaker 3: the shortstop makes the catch, you know, a pop up
- 15:04Speaker 3: to shortstop, and he thought it was a home run.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I mean he he had a lot of those pops
- 15:09Speaker 3: mally plops as well, which I think in a lot
- 15:12Speaker 3: of ways adds to his charm. So I think that's
- 15:15Speaker 3: a significant aspect to him. And he wasn't gonna be
- 15:17Speaker 3: one who got mad at you because he didn't pay
- 15:19Speaker 3: attention to it. John was very oblivious to what talk
- 15:23Speaker 3: shows ours is different. He drove to work every day,
- 15:25Speaker 3: hurt me in my gun afternoon, but he wasn't looking
- 15:28Speaker 3: at social media. He didn't have a computer, he wasn't
- 15:31Speaker 3: looking seeing what people were knocking him on. He didn't care, right,
- 15:35Speaker 3: And I'm not saying he wasn't sensitive. I don't think
- 15:37Speaker 3: he was aware of it so much. So, you know,
- 15:40Speaker 3: to him, a twenty five year old podcaster basically telling
- 15:44Speaker 3: John that he's a lousy, fundamental player by play guy,
- 15:47Speaker 3: I don't think that meant anything to him, right, So
- 15:49Speaker 3: I kind of and I think the mistakes that you
- 15:51Speaker 3: could laugh at him with I think added to his
- 15:54Speaker 3: charm as a Yankee broadcaster, and I tell you the
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yankees those first couple of years really missed him. That
- 16:00Speaker 3: is why the Yankees brought him back two years ago
- 16:03Speaker 3: to do the postseason because I don't think they felt
- 16:05Speaker 3: they had that juice, the glavitas in the radio booth.
- 16:09Speaker 3: So they brought John back to do the to do
- 16:11Speaker 3: the the those whatever it might be. Then they brought
- 16:14Speaker 3: Sims in, Dave Simms to replace him in the last
- 16:17Speaker 3: couple of years the Yankees. Sterling was very, very important
- 16:20Speaker 3: to the Yankees, the brand and everything else. The Yankees
- 16:23Speaker 3: put out a big statement yesterday they put flowers behind
- 16:26Speaker 3: home plate. All the Yankees, including Judge, had lots to
- 16:29Speaker 3: say in the pregame. You know, the Commissioner's office put
- 16:33Speaker 3: out a statement. I mean, you know, when you're the
- 16:35Speaker 3: Yankee broadcast for that many years, the franchise, the you know,
- 16:40Speaker 3: the home franchise in the sport until recently with the Dodgers,
- 16:43Speaker 3: they were and they won five titles. And then he
- 16:46Speaker 3: passes away and it's not that long ago and he
- 16:49Speaker 3: was doing the games. It's gonna carry a lot of weight.
- 16:51Speaker 3: And I think that's why you've seen so much Sterling
- 16:53Speaker 3: reaction in the last twenty four.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Hours Mad Dog on Leash three to six pm Eastern
- 16:57Speaker 2: Mad Dog Radio Sirius X, Sam Christopher Man, Doug Russo
- 17:00Speaker 2: is with us quick game for you here Dog. Okay,
- 17:03Speaker 2: it's called one There's a there's a restaurant. We played
- 17:05Speaker 2: this earlier with Salvakata. There's a restaurant down here in
- 17:09Speaker 2: Boca called six Tables. The new restaurant that we've created
- 17:12Speaker 2: for the purposes of this game is called one table. Okay,
- 17:16Speaker 2: so it's got one table in the restaurant at Jalen
- 17:19Speaker 2: Brunson and Aaron Judge walk in at the exact same time.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Who is getting that table?
- 17:26Speaker 3: Judge?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Really today?
- 17:28Speaker 6: Wow?
- 17:29Speaker 3: Wow?
- 17:29Speaker 1: Wow shocking?
- 17:31Speaker 3: I agree, Yes, Oh, Judge is getting it. I mean, Judge,
- 17:35Speaker 3: Judge is getting a tame. Baseball is much bigger than
- 17:37Speaker 3: basketball in New York City. The Yankees are bigger than
- 17:40Speaker 3: the Knicks in New York City. Judge set records. Judge
- 17:46Speaker 3: is probably the best player in the sport, minus maybe
- 17:49Speaker 3: old Tani Brunson is not the best player in the NBA.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Brunson has never played in an NBA final. Judges played
- 17:56Speaker 3: in the World Series.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Uh.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Judge set the home run with the sixty two judges
- 18:02Speaker 3: getting the table.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Wow, okay, let's go in their primes. COOZI Halcheck who
- 18:08Speaker 2: gets the table?
- 18:11Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I know that's a tough one for you.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Dog. I mean two your favorites.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I mean, no one loves Coozie more than dog and
- 18:19Speaker 2: no one loves Hogdo more than Dog.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I mean, I guess it depends on what time, what
- 18:23Speaker 3: year it was. Nineteen sixty, how about nineteen seventy. He'd
- 18:27Speaker 3: give it to Coozy because he wasn't that far removed
- 18:30Speaker 3: from his career. Nowadays, you might give it to Havelcheck.
- 18:33Speaker 3: You know, have Acheck is one of the all time
- 18:35Speaker 3: great Celtics. He's very underrated. I mean you can make
- 18:38Speaker 3: an argument without a doubt. Have Acheck's better than Jason Tatum, right,
- 18:42Speaker 3: I mean, have a Check is better than Jayleen. He
- 18:45Speaker 3: is much better than Jaylen Brown is. Yeah, God, have
- 18:48Speaker 3: a Chick is great. Have a Check, you know, and
- 18:51Speaker 3: he you know, he would have made the Browns in
- 18:52Speaker 3: nineteen sixty four. And when he left the Browns to
- 18:55Speaker 3: go play for the Celtics, Paul Brown caught unbacker says,
- 18:59Speaker 3: you get my best wide receiver, right, you didn't think
- 19:02Speaker 3: about that for a second. Crazy.
- 19:03Speaker 4: I mean he was I you know, it wasn't Paul Brown's.
- 19:07Speaker 3: He wasn't.
- 19:08Speaker 4: He was blatant Kayer.
- 19:09Speaker 3: But whoever it might be, he was a tremendous basketball player.
- 19:13Speaker 4: And have a check.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Outside of Russell and Bird is probably the third greatest
- 19:17Speaker 3: Celtic of all time. So although I love Couzi, it
- 19:20Speaker 3: probably would be half a chat.
- 19:22Speaker 2: All right, two more we get you out here, shallomey
- 19:24Speaker 2: Ben Stiller? Who gets the table? I mean Stiller.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Should be the Met galad yesterday. I don't want to
- 19:30Speaker 3: hear from him. He's mister nick fan. He never heard
- 19:33Speaker 3: of David Busher. He's at the Met gala last night. Now,
- 19:36Speaker 3: you gotta be kidding me. At least Shalome was at
- 19:38Speaker 3: the game for Cyou. I mean Challame gets the table.
- 19:41Speaker 2: All right, shall gets the table. Speaking of shallow May,
- 19:44Speaker 2: Taylor has a request for you. Go ahead, Taylor quickly here.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Yeah, we'd like Charlame on the show as our guest request.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yes we will.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good one. I can't get him on
- 19:52Speaker 4: our show.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I can't get him on first take, Jeeves, But I
- 19:56Speaker 3: think if you never I still owe your guests got
- 19:59Speaker 3: that stupid football. Of course, I gotta get you, somebody,
- 20:02Speaker 3: I gotta get you.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I had a season for the Ages. Last one, okay,
- 20:05Speaker 2: last one. I get you out of here, Doggie. This
- 20:07Speaker 2: is a tough one.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:08Speaker 2: At the height of Mike and the mad Dog, the
- 20:11Speaker 2: Franceses walk in, the Russo's walk in, who gets the table?
- 20:15Speaker 1: How about that?
- 20:16Speaker 4: Well, Mike had Mike had the powered chair.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Right at w f A N Yeah, I heard you, listen, listen.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I know that, and I love Mike, But the first
- 20:25Speaker 2: voice I heard every single day was yours.
- 20:26Speaker 1: How about that?
- 20:27Speaker 3: Because of the end, Because of the end, I think
- 20:31Speaker 3: Mike would get the power chair.
- 20:32Speaker 4: I think Mike would get the table.
- 20:33Speaker 1: All well, Mike thinks for sir.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Mike, it was Mike and the mad Dog. Yes, and
- 20:40Speaker 3: Mike would be annoyed if he didn't get the table.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I can go to McDonald's.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Mike would allow you to sit at his table, maybe,
- 20:49Speaker 2: depending on what year it was.
- 20:52Speaker 3: That's true. It depends on the year. Some years absolutely
- 20:55Speaker 3: other years a year I'd be sitting at the table
- 20:58Speaker 3: and not talking to each other.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Your spot yesterday was fantastic with him on your show.
- 21:04Speaker 2: It brought me back to a great time in my life.
- 21:07Speaker 2: More of that, dog, more you and Mike. That was fantastic.
- 21:09Speaker 2: We appreciate the time, Doggie.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Thank you for doing that.
- 21:11Speaker 3: We love you still, you know, keep it going, pal Okay.
- 21:14Speaker 1: All right, thank you doggie. All right.
- 21:15Speaker 3: We look forward.
- 21:16Speaker 1: We look forward to Shallow on the show. Thank you,
- 21:18Speaker 1: dog
