- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Great job.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: Seriously.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: Like, shout out to every single competition, every dancer, every dance teacher.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: We've all pivoted so much this year.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: 2021.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: 2020 was that's you know, season two started in 2020.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: So right, you know, gotta include that.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: That was a part of this journey.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: But 2021, I mean, it's looking up.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: It is looking up.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, we we are here, it is June, it is the summer season is you know, starting to get into national season, and everybody is just so excited for the next couple months.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I'm so excited for our summer break, to be completely honest, because as much as I love podcasting and and giving y'all what you want to hear every single week, Leslie and I have had a long, long season.
- 1:38unknown: Yes, we have.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: On the competition ends, on the judging ends, on the IDA end, and the podcast ends.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: So I'm sure that we're both very much looking forward to this little hiatus, but we're gonna miss you all so much.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: We are.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, we've had we've gained so many new friends from around the world.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: And uh, you know, through the work with the virtual competitions as well as the podcast, I mean, our reach has gotten really far, which is amazing.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: And so I think we have, you know, developed a lot of new relationships with people that we never would have come into contact with.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: And, you know, as we always say, that's the beauty of the dance world.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: It's really small, even though it's really huge.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: It's so true.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: So thank you to every single guest uh that has joined us for season two.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Thank you to every single listener who has tuned in to every episode.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: We had 41 episodes in season two of Making the Impact, which is so exciting.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: And that's including our intro and this little outro, which isn't labeled as an episode, but episode 66 launched today as well, which is prepping for next season.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: So if you haven't had a chance to listen to that one yet, definitely check it out.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: We've released two today for the finale.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: So listen to that, check it out, and uh we're we're pumped to continue on in season three.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: We're gonna hit a hundred in season three.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: A hundred episodes?
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, of course, obviously we are.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: But what are we gonna do for episode a hundred?
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Oh, I don't know.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: We have to have some kind of big celebration.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Something big.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Something big.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll keep y'all posted.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Because that's that's gonna come up probably mid-season two, mid-season three.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a party.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: I'm pumped for it.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: You're all invited.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everyone's invited.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: So yeah, season two has been a huge success with our 41 episodes.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: We hit 35,000 downloads in season two alone.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: That is crazy.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: I don't even know what that number means.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: Like, can you even fathom 32,000 of anything?
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: It's so insane.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: And I I I can't believe it.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: And just to give you some more stats, in the all-time of making the impact, all time total, seasons one and seasons two combined, we have hit 75,000 downloads.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Woo! Woo! Oh my god, yeah, seriously.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: And again, thank you, thank you, thank you for hitting subscribe on wherever you listen to podcasts, whether that's Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Podcast, Google Podcasts.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: There's so many ways to listen.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: You can listen on our website, you can listen on YouTube, you can listen so many different ways, but these stats mean so much because it helps us bring more content to you.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: So thank you, thank you so much for continuing to tune in.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: And if you're new to the podcast, you obviously have a lot of catching up to do.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: So uh you have over 60 episodes to go catch up on.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: So tune in and listen now.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: If you're road tripping to nationals, yeah, that's a perfect opportunity.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: That is so many dance moms have said that they usually listen on the way to the studio, same with teachers, on the way to the studio on the way back, or on the way to competition.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: So love hearing that.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: And our most listened to episode of season two.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: Do you have any idea?
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm not surprised when we when we looked at the stats and figured out which one it was.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Not surprised at all.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: I'm not surprised at all.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Because if we think back to our most listened to episode of season one, it's a something versus a something.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: And I think everybody, you know, in our competitive world, we love a challenge and we love a competition and we love a who's better and who's gonna get the diamond or the platinum or the whatever.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: And this this episode for the most listened to episode of season two does just that.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: It's a contest.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: So do you want to share with the world what it is?
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Episode 53, Tricks versus Technique, is our most listened to episode of season two.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: That episode featured Carla Curatolo from Expressions and our fabulous IDA judge Troy Haywood.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: And yeah, people people love a contest.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: People love to pit things against each other.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: So, you know, and I don't know who I don't know which one wins in that instance.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Which tricks versus technique.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think this was such a popular episode because we just kind of like told it how it was, and and I think that tricks really have taken over the comp world lately.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: I think there's a lot of artistry out there, but I feel like that people think tricks win, and that's why they're dominating.
- 6:12SPEAKER_03: And then people complain that tricks win when we say on the on the judge's side, and in that episode in particular, that like technique usually trumps tricks.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: And you have to have technique in your tricks to be successful.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: Totally.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: So we talked about all of those things in that episode, and I think it was just I think the title is catchy.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: I think people love expressions.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: Yes, and for sure.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: It was Carla gave some awesome, awesome feedback and advice.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: And I think it it means a lot when you hear coming from such a successful studio because expressions is so well known in the dance composition world and from being on television that so many dancers look up to them and to hear it straight from their teacher, like this is what you gotta do.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: Well, and the honest truth from Carla's mouth was it is called ballet.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: We take a lot of ballet.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: There is no shortcut, there is no way around it.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: We take ballet from the little biddies all the way up.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: That's the class that they focus on.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: And, you know, even she said in the episode, their rehearsals are very short.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: You know, they're not in there every week running dances for hours.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: They're in class, taking technique class.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I think that is that's an eye-opener for a lot of people who some who think probably these bigger studios that, you know, feel like they're doing impossible things, it's not impossible.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: There's just a method.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: And is it the most glamorous thing in the world?
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: No.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: But it's tried and true, you know.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: And so, in in my opinion, now that we've had this sort of rehash of that conversation, technique's the winner, my friends.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: Technique is the winner.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: I think so.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: I I love a trick.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: Don't get me wrong, I love a trick, but the trick needs to have technique.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: So in that case, then there needs to be technique first.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Right, exactly.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: But, you know, just like we were saying, everybody loves a a contest, our most listened to episode of all time.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: Still to this day, it has not surpassed uh tricks versus technique.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: But season one, episode four, lyrical versus contemporary, you know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: I feel like we're that that uh is it is it TikTok or is it Instagram?
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: I'm not up on the culture, but the versus things that are happening these days, like that is literally what it feels like, except it's with dance styles.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: And so that's why I think that one is is so popular too, because people have opinions.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Opinions about this.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: People have opinions about what what is lyrical and what is contemporary.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: Dance parents have no clue what the difference is.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: And that's that's no shade to dance parents who have no clue.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: It's not your fault you have no clue because nobody's telling you, because everybody also has it twisted.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: Like if if all of the teachers were really clear on what each style really is, then the parents would have a better understanding.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: But and there wouldn't be a need for the debate.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: You know, but there is.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: So hopefully, you know, I do think that's we get a lot of comments on that one just, you know, through through social media and in conversation, that people are really appreciative about that episode just for the educational value of it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: You know, we think we bring educational value with all of our episodes, but that one in particular, I think, is really helpful, especially for the uninitiated, you know, parents out there who just want to understand, you know.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: And I and I'm glad that you said that because I feel like that our I feel like the reason that we started this podcast is to bring that education and that knowledge straight from the judges to you all.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: And I feel like that there's so many, not just lyrical versus contemporary, but you know, to based on all of our episodes, we've really clarified a lot of things throughout our episodes, yet I'm still seeing the same errors on the competition stage.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: There was really never a platform beside before our podcast that would allow you to learn these types of things.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: We're telling you what you need to hear and how it is.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: And then I still see things like the a lyrical dance in the contemporary category and a contemporary dance in the lyrical category, and the teacher thinks that this is contemporary when it's not.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: So I'm glad and then continues to wonder why it's either not winning or not doing as well as they expected.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: It's one of those things where, you know, the the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Like somehow that's that still happens.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: And it's some part of me wonders like, okay, like, is this just willful that people are just like, nope, you know what?
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: I heard that, I heard the information, and I'm gonna disregard it and I'm gonna keep doing what I think, yeah, no matter what.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Or is it like maybe I haven't heard that information and I don't actually know still, and you know, what what are we seeing in that regard?
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: But it's it's an interesting, you know, it's just always an interesting conversation.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: And even like when what what you were just saying just now, like that's the same kind of idea as to when you receive judges' critiques at competition.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: It's kind of like you can take it or you can leave it.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: Like not everyone's going to agree with every opinion or perspective from a judge on the critique that you get at competition every weekend, or it could be a light bulb moment.
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow, I didn't even see it like that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: Maybe I should look into this.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: Or it could be, I don't really agree with this judge, you know.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: Thanks for the advice, but I'm gonna leave it as is.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: I think it's great.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: So, either way, this is just a podcast, y'all.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: Like, yes, we are judges, but this is just straight, we're not critiquing your dance.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: We're you didn't pay us to critique your dance.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: We're giving you free content and we're just telling you how it is.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: So, in a way, you should take this advice because it's free and it's here for you.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: And there's there's nothing really attached to it where it's not like a dir a direct thing, right?
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: You know, straight to you, like that type of feedback.
- 11:50SPEAKER_03: This is general feedback for the whole dance world to hear.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: And there's a lot more of it coming, y'all.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, there's three.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: There's so much more.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: I can't wait.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: I'm tired, but I can't wait.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: I'm we're already excited for season three.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: So many great things to come.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: Another thing that as we've grown and as we've started to reach more people around the world in competitive dance, is that like, you know, we're obviously we're here in the States.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: We're in we Corney and I are in New York City.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: So our perspective is coming from a United States centered view of dance competitions.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: But there are dance competitions around the world.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: And things are different there and perspectives are different there.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: And that's that's where I think this is also incredibly helpful for so many people just outside of our bubble, you know, to hear what we do.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: You know, and even during the couple of virtuals that we did, the couple, the seven virtual competitions we produced this past year and a half, a lot of the feedback from our friends from other countries has been we were just so excited to see what it was like in America.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: And how cool is that that like, you know, people from around the world are now getting a taste of what we do and we're getting a taste of what they do.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, yes, take it, take or leave whatever we say.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: But I think also for us to sort of remember that some people do really, really find this very valuable and like don't have access to certain perspectives and certain, you know, information in other parts of the world that we do.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: So, you know, like we've always said, we're we're here to educate and we're here to share our knowledge with everybody because we know that we have the privilege of being in a place where we have a lot of people with a lot of great background in what we do.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: It's so true.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: And I mean, we really have reached listeners worldwide.
- 13:33SPEAKER_03: It's so cool to see that on our end in our stats.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: Obviously, all of our friends in the United States listen the most, but we've also reached Canada, Australia, Germany, the UK, Mexico, Taiwan, Israel, France, so many places.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: And we are very happy to share that we've ranked number 15 on the Apple Podcast performing arts charts in the United States.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: So exciting.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: And a lot of other rankings in other states, like number four in Switzerland on the performing arts charts, number eight in Australia, and number 13th in Great Britain.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: So it's really exciting to see uh these stats come in.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: It just tells us that we are reaching so many dancers worldwide.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: And there's obviously, like you said, Leslie, like there is a demand for competitive dance around the world, and it is it is really exciting that so many dancers and teachers and parents and studio owners are listening from so many different countries, and I'm glad we're reaching them.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and like like we've just always said, it's it's cool to think about how big the small dance world is.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: It's my favorite part.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: Well, it's time to hear our sponsors for this episode, and we are so grateful for each and every sponsor.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: But we have two sponsors that are sponsoring our final wrap-up episode of season two, and first up is our season sponsor, Level Up Dance Supplies, established in 2010 by a dance mom.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Their goal is to be your one-stop shop for all of your dance gear and accessory needs.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: From privacy tents to rolling racks and duffel bags, Level Up is sure to have what you need at a price you can afford.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: Head over to LevelUpdance Supplies.com to view all of their products and gear, and use our exclusive podcast promo code BRAVO5678 at checkout to receive$10 off your order.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Thanks so much, Level Up.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: Our other sponsor for this episode is Dance Device Lab.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: Dance Device Lab produces high quality dancer-focused in studio events nationwide.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: DDL's uniquely developed adjudication showcase is an interactive two-part competition weekend alternative event.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: So you've got part one, the showcase.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Dancers perform their dances, receive live and written critiques, and they will also have an engaging rehearsal period with their adjudicator to help them actively apply the feedback.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: We love that.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: Part two is class.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: At DDL, they believe change happens in the studio.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: I totally agree.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: After performing, the DDL Adjudicators will teach a class that'll be focused on their observations from the showcase.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: This event truly bridges the gap between what happens on stage and in the studio.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: Head over to dancedevicelab.com for more information to schedule your in studio intensive now.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: And my favorite thing about the Dance Device Lab specifically this year is I think this past year and a half has taught all of us that there are many more options than we thought there were previously for training and for performance opportunities and judging opportunities.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: And this is an incredible one for you know studios who want to do something different for their kids that's also beneficial and that maybe feels a little more personal than heading to a huge competition.
- 16:42SPEAKER_03: Totally.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: And Dance Device Lab was created by IDA judge Brandon Cornet, who was on our podcast earlier this season in our guest choreography episode.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: So definitely shout out to Brandon for creating this awesome service for dance studios and dancers around the country.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: All right, y'all.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: So we have received a ton of amazing reviews throughout season two.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: We currently have 127 ratings on Apple Podcasts.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: And we just wanted to give a shout out to a few reviewers who left some fabulous feedback for us.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: And first up is Steph A.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: K from Apple Podcasts.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: She said, so much fun and informative for anyone who is involved in the competitive dance industry.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: As a mom to a dancing son and daughter, as well as a dance coach, I can't get enough of these podcasts.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: They are packed full of real, honest, and impactful advice for everyone in the dance industry.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: The information is approached in a way that feels constructive and uplifting, directed towards all levels and styles, and I feel rejuvenated and excited to use and share what I've learned with others.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: I love spending my time listening to this.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Yay! I love this.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much, Stephanie.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: That's such a great review, and we love offering this to you.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: I hope you keep listening into season three.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: We're gonna have even more of exactly what you've just described.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: So stay tuned.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: We also have a great review from Jill Med.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: They say a fantastic podcast.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: These podcasts are fantastic.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: The topics spoken about bring so many different views on how you can see things from a different opinion.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: Everyone that participates has great knowledge on what they're speaking about, which brings great comfort knowing that these are reputable people.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: Keep up the great work and can't wait for more.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: You're very welcome.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: We are so glad to offer, like we've always said, this, you know, free resource to anybody and everybody.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: And, you know, 127 ratings, you like us, you really like us.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.

- 19:32SPEAKER_03: Yes, laptop is perfect.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you like if bulletin board uh on your car, if you want, you know, wherever you want to put a sticker.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, I can put one on my paddle board.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: Cool.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, perfect.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: So many ideas.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: But there's lots of there's lots of places to slap these stickers, y'all.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: So go leave us a review.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: I'd love to send you some stickers.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: Making an impact Facebook group.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, our biggest undertaking to date.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Um, it really is a it's a lot of work.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: It's a lot of work, and we have almost a thousand members in the group, which is so exciting.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: And these are all podcast fans.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Thanks for spreading the word.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: Thanks for inviting people.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: We would love to hit a thousand, so definitely feel free to continue to invite and share.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: It's been a great way to reach new listeners.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: I think a lot of people have discovered our podcast because of our Facebook group.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, 100%.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: That, you know, their friends are inviting them or it shows up on their suggestions, you know, and and it's intriguing.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: I think people are excited to connect in a different way, you know.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: And I think when we first started talking about the podcast a couple years ago, several years ago, you know, I really listened to a lot of podcasts and I like to receive information that way.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: And I think one of my things was like, you know, but some people like to read still, honestly.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Like some people still like to receive content in a written form.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: And I think that's why I'm excited about the Facebook group is because it does allow for another kind of interaction.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, that's not just audible audio, I guess.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: And I think it's it's been really cool that it's a combination of all different dance lovers.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: So, you know, there's a lot of Facebook groups out there that are geared towards just dance moms or is geared towards just dance teachers or just studio owners, but we've kind of merged it all together.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: And these are all just fans of the podcast.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: So if you love competitive dance and you're a dance mom, if you're a dance grandparent, if you are a studio owner, a dance teacher, a dance professional, you're you're able to join and chime in on the conversation.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: You can ask questions.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: All of our IDA judges on the IDA roster are in the Making the Impact group as well, which I think is so exciting because they're chiming in and answering questions too, which is really great to connect with them.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: So yeah, if you've enjoyed the Facebook group, thanks for being there.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: We would love to see some more faces.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: So head on over to Facebook and search for Making the Impact.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: A dance competition podcast community and join us now.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Now, uh, talking about the biggest undertaking ever, I misspoke because the Facebook group is like small potatoes compared to the IDA virtual competitions.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, IDA virtual competition.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: We love you.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: And we just wrapped our May event, which was such a huge success.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: We had solos and group entries, almost 400 entries in the event from all across the world, with 28 states participating, and a record-breaking 10 countries joined us this time.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: How cool is that?
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: Again, my favorite part.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: It's my favorite part.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Every time an entry would come in from another country, I would text Courtney and be like, Did you see Belgian entry?
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: It's just so exciting.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: And we're we're so grateful that, you know, people wanted to participate and continued to want to participate.
- 22:55SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Because we, you know, we started these back in literally the week of the shutdown of the States uh in 2020 in March.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: And we produced seven virtual events, you know, that I think got better and better with each one as we figured out how to make this work and how to, you know, truly kind of piece together events that on a on the kind of scale that none of us had ever done before.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, as as judges and as you as a business owner, you know, we we are sometimes a part of events of that kind of scale, but we've never been in charge of them.
- 23:30SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: And so to undertake all of this was was exciting and amazing and hard and fulfilling and tiring.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: And just, you know, hashtag a blessing because it was great.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: It was a great year and a half.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: And I I think it's always important to like let everyone know because I think a lot of people, we've also like widened our reach with the IDE virtual competition as well, which I'm so grateful for.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: And it's been, like we said, so cool to connect with dancers worldwide.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: That's been the best part for me.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: But it is important to mention that IDA is not a competition and we never we don't have live events in the States.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: We are just a service that offers judges to competitions.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: So, we know when the pandemic hit, we kind of felt like there was a need for the virtual experience.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: And as did so many other competitions in around the world, you know, there's virtual competitions all over the place now that never existed pre-pandemic.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: But from the very beginning, we've we've never run ran a competition before.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: And I think that for me, we kind of put all the best things together in a virtual platform.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: And our main goal from the very beginning was to supply work to our judges and to supply work in general to offer an opportunity for dancers.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: But the main goal that I think separates us is our critiques.
- 24:57SPEAKER_03: And that's what has always separated IDA in general.
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: When all of the competitions that use our judges at their live events, that's what they use them for, is for the quality critiques that we provide.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: And it's been so great to be able to share that with so many news studios who haven't been able to attend a live event in the States or is from another country to experience what makes IDA different.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: And and you know, from parts of America and parts of the states that that don't aren't lucky enough right now to have an IDA affiliated competition, you know, we've got we've got a ton, but they aren't everywhere.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Because a lot of them are niche in terms of their location.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: You know, they really focus on a certain area of the country, but you know, because of the virtual, people got to experience the kind of work that our judges do at these events, which is exclusive.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: You know, it's an exclusive perk of going to some of these competitions.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, luckily, a thousand, thousands, thousands of people in dance studios and dancers from around the world got to experience that this, you know, year and a half that we've just gone through.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I think we've gotten tons of great feedback about the virtuals and you know, just the amount of emails and happy social media posts, you know, that people are are sharing after each event have just been really great to see and we're grateful for everybody's everybody's support.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: And we we're not sure at the moment if IDA virtual competition is going to be continuing on into 2022 season.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: We're not quite sure yet.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: We have we have some logistics to work out and some, you know, it was a massive undertaking.
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: And yeah.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: It it it is.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: I mean, I have to let you all know that I have I have never worn as many hats while running.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: I mean, in life.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: Like I became an ev I can do it all now.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna literally uh technology is sometimes doesn't work in your favor.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: I'm sure we've all experienced that before.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Running live streams is very stressful if you've never done that before.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: Video editing is hard, by the way.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Graphic design is challenging.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: It's true.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: There's just so many.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: Managing tons of people is hard.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: A huge team, a huge back-end team, judges remotely.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Google doesn't want to help ever.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Internet, speeds, you know, you name it.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: There's just there's so many logistics on the back end.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: And I hope that our ex if you did participate in IDU's virtual competition, it was a very seamless, beautiful experience for you.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: Um, and it might have been a mess in the back end, but you never hopefully knew that.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: We hope you never knew that.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we did.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: And I want to shout out to my my back end team, Leslie and Marissa and Maddie and so many other workers, Axel, Tracy, Brittany, Liz, Melissa, Ryan, and so many others that have helped us throughout the past year that have just jumped in whenever I called and said, hey, I need a video editor, hey, I need someone to do graphic design and offer them work.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's always that's always what my goal is, is to always help supply work.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: And then all of our judges were fantastic as well.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: And we've gotten, like you said, Leslie, such great feedback.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: So thank you to everyone who's participated in IDA's virtual competition.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: I hope you enjoyed the experience.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: And if you do want to see more IDA virtual competitions into the 2022 season, let us know and we may consider bringing it back.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: Yep, we'll have a lot of meetings.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: But yeah, if you like, if you liked what you experienced, let us know because we do, you know, we want to cater to what our customers liked and what they want and what the need is in the community.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: So but in the meantime, you know, in between now and then, if you're looking for feedback from an IDA judge at any point ever, doesn't even have to be during competition season.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: We offer year-round judges' critiques through IDA's online critique service.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: So that is an amazing opportunity to get quality, detailed feedback about whatever it is that you send us.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: So head over to Impact Dance Adjudicators.com slash online critiques to learn more and submit your dance before you head to Nationals, because that is what is coming up.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Critiques for for online critiques start at only$35.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: Hi listeners, it's Courtney, and I want to quickly tell you about Dance Device Lab.

- 29:41SPEAKER_03: From there, dancers will enjoy a class taught by their faculty to engage directly with the students one-on-one and truly bridge the gap between what happens on stage and in the studio.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: I've personally been on faculty with some of their events, and it's a wonderful experience that I highly recommend.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: If you are a studio interested in bringing Dance Device Lab directly to you, head over to dancedevicelab.com for more information now.

- 30:21SPEAKER_03: But we want to give them a huge shout out and thank you because that is really what IDA is all about and how IDA was started was to help the competitions and change the industry a bit with providing the quality feedback and critiques that every single dancer, teacher, studio owner deserves to hear.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: And our roster of judges are grateful for the work as well.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: And I feel very lucky and blessed to be able to say that this season was a success in the States.
- 30:49SPEAKER_03: Every single competition that we worked with was able to successfully run live events, which is so wonderful.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: And I'd love to just give a little list and a rundown of all of our ID affiliated competitions that we participate with.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: That way you as a listener can learn more about them, go check out their websites, and also maybe consider them for your 2022 season as you are planning that out and mapping it out over the summer months.

- 34:50SPEAKER_03: That's really important for us to make sure that we're not just giving the generic point your toes, cute costume critiques, but it's even more than that.

- 38:23SPEAKER_03: So we've had so many episodes.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: We had 41 episodes in season two, and I have a few favorites.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: I'm sure that you had a few favorites.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, all of them were fantastic.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: Apps, I feel like, and we said it multiple times on the podcast that they kept getting butter and butter as the season continued, and the topics kept getting more in-depth, and and the guests are, I mean, we've we introduced so many new guests to the podcast this time, a lot of returning guests as well.
- 38:52SPEAKER_03: But we did expand and open up the guest pool outside of just the IDA judges and have brought on a lot of fantastic educators and voices onto the pod.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: So, what were some of your favorite episodes of season two, Leslie?
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: I have really, really enjoyed episode 38, guest choreography.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: That episode featured Ryan Taylor, who was a guest, a studio owner from Michigan from Power Dance Company, who we had the pleasure of accepting a lot of her students into one of our first virtuals.
- 39:22SPEAKER_02: And that's how we got to know Ryan.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: So we wanted to have, you know, her come on for that episode because her studio does a lot of guest choreography.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: We also had uh Dance Device Lab founder and IDA judge Brandon Cornet on that episode because he also does a lot of guest teaching and guest choreography for studios around the country.
- 39:39SPEAKER_02: So that one I thought was really eye-opening and interesting to hear from those two perspectives as a studio owner who brings in guest choreographers and a guest choreographer who goes into studios.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: And as a student myself, back in the day, I didn't have that experience.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: And I think we, as a conversation piece that we had in that episode, guest choreography wasn't really a thing at a lot of studios, you know, 20 years ago.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: It is becoming more of a thing now with social media and dance being more relevant on television and everything, and people are seeing what other people do and want to bring that in for their students.
- 40:12SPEAKER_02: So it's it was a really neat way to just get all kinds of perspectives on what people do with guest choreographers.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was a great one.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: I loved it.
- 40:21SPEAKER_03: And it's a definite listen before season three.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: If you haven't listened to that episode, definitely listen to it over the summer.
- 40:28SPEAKER_03: I would recommend it because you may have some guest choreography uh coming to your studio or you may be considering it.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: And it's important to hear all of our tips and tricks as well as to how to approach it and the best practices of guest choreo.
- 40:41SPEAKER_03: So check that out.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: I would say one of my favorites was episode 40, keeping Jazz Dance Alive.
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: I kind of nailed that one.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: It was just a needed discussion that had to happen.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: And I I feel very attached to jazz dance.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: I teach it often, and that's always my goal whenever I teach is to just try to keep it alive.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: I feel like that it's dwindling away in a contemporary competition world.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: And some I know that there are a lot of other judges out there that hopefully feel the same, that just want to see that that true classic jazz come back.
- 41:24SPEAKER_03: So it was awesome chatting with Mary Roberts, IDA judge, and Terrell Mitchell, who is it was the jazz queen and the jazz king.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: They were.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: They were, and they gave such great advice and information to us all about what really makes jazz dance.
- 41:42SPEAKER_03: And I'll still never forget.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: This is why we need a video podcast because Leslie got out of her chair and tried to do the improper jazz pirouette preparation.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: It was just hysterical.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: I mean, all of us were cracking up and laughing because we could see each other.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: But I wish that listeners, you could have seen this moment because FYI, it's very hard to keep your heel down in a jazz pirouette preparation.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: It's very hard.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: And I still, I still just like don't understand how people are trying to teach that.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: I don't get it.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: And it's hard and it hurt my I was in pain.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: After the fact.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: So uh that was a good episode.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: It was.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: It was a great episode, and the guests were awesome.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: It's so knowledgeable.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: And the other one that I really liked was earlier, ish, it's kind of the same time-ish in the season, 30 episode 35, gender in the studio.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: And I think that one was something we had been wanting to do for a while because and and it kind of just came to a head also this year with, you know, the world kind of changing around us, and you know, especially in the arts, like the arts have always been accepting and more accepting, I think, than your general society at large.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: But there's still work to be done in terms of acceptance and inclusivity, and gender is just one of those subsets, you know, that needs to be talked about more.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: And so we had IDA judges Jeanette Abel and Paul Thieman come in and speak just a little bit about how we can create more inclusive practices in the studio, starting from, you know, baby ballerinas all the way up.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: And I just thought it was important and relevant and and again, similarly to the jazz conversation, just the the knowledge and the education and the perspectives of these two people, you know, they're both incredibly smart individuals and really thoughtful teachers.
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: And so I really just enjoyed hearing both of their perspectives about that.
- 43:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they were awesome.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: Love y'all, Jeanette and Paul.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: They're both on the West Coast right now, and I feel like that I I miss them.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: They're so far away.
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: But it was that was an awesome, awesome episode.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: Definitely go check that out.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: And uh my other favorite of season two was episode fifty two, the importance of musicality.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_03: I love missing musicality, absolutely love it, and I think that it was it was awesome hearing confirmation from other educators, but Also just kind of like digging deeper.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: I feel like that's something that kind of stuck out to me from the very beginning of that was in the podcast group before we recorded that episode.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: I posted a question like, what do you want to hear in the discussion of musicality?
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: And there were a few, I think, people that wrote, I don't even know what musicality.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: What does that even mean?
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: Like most likely dance parents said that, saying, like, what is musicality?
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: You know, why does that even matter to a dancer?
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: And I think that it was just such a a great discussion on really kind of clarifying and explaining that and explaining the layer of musicality and where it comes from PS tap class.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: Uh not always, but PS Tap class.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: Not always.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: And I think that hopefully we explained exactly what it is, but then also maybe there's a lot of parents or teachers who ha may feel frustrated that their dancers aren't scoring as well, and it could be because of the musicality or the lack of a musicality.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: So I thought it was a really important discussion, the importance of musicality.
- 45:08SPEAKER_03: And that was with uh Tommy Scrivens and Christina Yoder.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: So go check that out too.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: There's so many great episodes from season two, but those are some of our personal faiths.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: And so what's coming next, Courtney?
- 45:20SPEAKER_02: We've got, you know, I sometimes sometimes when I go back to our original like brainstorming list, which has been added on to and added on to and added on to for the past almost three years now.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm checking things off.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: Like, we did it, we did it, we did it, we decided not to do it, we did it, we did it.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: And it's like, but but then I keep I keep scrolling because there just keeps being more things to talk about.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: And so what what's on the docket for next year?
- 45:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, we haven't officially mapped out season three yet.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: No, because we're tired.
- 45:48SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 45:50SPEAKER_02: We literally just like after today, after literally after you listen to this episode, we will have gone to a celebratory situation to celebrate the end of sort of the culmination of the season of the podcast, the virtual competition season at large.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: But no, so we have not mapped out next season.
- 46:07SPEAKER_02: We haven't mapped it out.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: But we have some little little teasers we can give you.
- 46:11SPEAKER_03: We do.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: And like Leslie said, we have a giant list of ideas.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: I think there was a point in time, Leslie, that you said this season, like, I don't know what we're gonna do for season three.
- 46:22SPEAKER_03: We did.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: Like, we just we've talked about so many things.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Well, what more could we possibly talk about?
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: I'm like, Leslie, there is so much.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: And then Courtney like toggled to the spreadsheet that has the list and started scrolling.
- 46:34SPEAKER_02: And I was like, oh, you're right.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: There's there's there's plenty to talk about.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: I think that's what's so interesting about the podcast is uh like here's a little teaser.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: We'll probably have some part twos of episodes that we've already tackled.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: Because I know that that we, you know, we we try to keep our podcasts around an hour in length.
- 46:52SPEAKER_03: We don't want them to get too long for for you listeners.
- 46:56SPEAKER_03: So a part two is definitely necessary, but I definitely think that there's other topics that we can expand upon.
- 47:02SPEAKER_03: We kind of hit a lot of topics at the very base, and then we can even branch further into those discussions to create more topics and episodes for you, but and just getting more perspectives, you know, because uh as we always talk about, there's there's multiple ways to look at a situation, there's multiple ways to think about, you know, different dance styles and different, you know, genres and things like that.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: So, you know, even if we've we obviously, you know, I'd love to do a a tap part two.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: You know, we covered tap pretty, pretty well, but you know, tap tap has a over hundred, over a couple hundred years old history.
- 47:37SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, you can't cover everything in an hour with four people's opinions.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Like we gotta we gotta dive deeper and get you know, get more people involved.
- 47:46SPEAKER_02: So that's at least, you know, we are definitely headed into some part twos this year.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: And I a hundred percent know that we are going to tackle dance in college.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: That's been a huge request from people.
- 47:58SPEAKER_03: They just want to know what programs are out there, what colleges are best for dance, what path a dancer should go based on what they want to pursue.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: And this information is so helpful for dancers that are trying to make that tough decision.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: And I can't wait to offer this to them because I wish 15 plus years ago that I had that as that knowledge, you know.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: Well, and I still think, you know, even with, you know, you had you had a studio that was, you know, you had teachers that had professional experience and you had some mentors and some guidance in terms of that, and you still didn't really know.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, I'm thinking about when I I remember telling my college or my high school guidance counselor, you know, when you talk junior year about like what you want to do, you know, with your life or whatever, you know, and I was asking for advice because at the time I just only had a couple of college ideas that I wanted to pursue and I didn't really know much about it, any about the programs.
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: And he just kind of looked at me like, you're on your own, kid.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: I I can't help you with this.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: And you know, nothing much has changed.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: There is not a definitive guide, you know, that your run-of-the-mill, you know, student somewhere in the middle of the country can can look to.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: So you know, we've we've got access to a lot of people who have who teach at these programs, who have gone through the programs, you know, who have students that are currently going through the programs that are that are popular right now.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: So, you know, we're excited to bring that one to you because like you said, Courtney, it's been it's been a request.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: It's been a big request.
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: And another one that we're gonna probably tackle is injury prevention, which is an important one.
- 49:31SPEAKER_03: We I'm surprised we haven't we waited this long to do this one, to be honest.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: Uh well, we gotta get the right guests, and that's you know, that's another behind the scenes thing that you know I think our listeners should know is that if if you haven't heard a topic, sometimes it's because we just don't have the right person yet.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: And we want to make sure we're bringing in the right guest, you know, at the right time with the right knowledge, from the right perspective in terms, you know, because we are still coming at all of these topics from a competitive dance perspective.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, injury prevention is something we want to make sure we're bringing in somebody with excellent credentials who also has the understanding of what competitive dancers do and the kind of training that they go through.
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: So, but that one is a thousand percent necessary just because, like we were saying earlier, you know, with tricks versus technique, all all you see anymore is a headspring and more than half the time somebody's doing it wrong.
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: And I'm terrified that you're gonna have a neck injury.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: You know, so injury for prevention.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're coming for it.
- 50:30SPEAKER_03: We're definitely coming for it.
- 50:31SPEAKER_03: We're gonna bring it to you, we're gonna have awesome guests.
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: Then speaking of guests, like we said, we've really branched out and expanded our guest pool.
- 50:38SPEAKER_03: So if there's any guests that you would love to hear, join us on a podcast episode or on a specific topic, then shoot us an email and let us know.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: Write us a message on Instagram, tell us who you want to hear on the podcast because we will absolutely do our best to bring them to you.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: We are also going to be continuing our spotlight feature episodes, which we had such a blast doing this season.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: And we're also hoping to maybe incorporate some studio spotlights as well, which I'm excited about, and chatting with studio owners around the country with successful studios that a lot of people look up to.
- 51:13SPEAKER_03: And I can't wait to hear their process and uh what it looks like for them.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: So we have a lot of things on the horizon for season three, and over the summer, we're actually going to be doing a little bonus for you all.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: Last summer we took the entire summer off, no episodes at all.
- 51:31SPEAKER_03: But this summer we're still gonna be taking our hiatus, don't worry.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: We definitely need a much needed break for don't worry about us.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: We're gonna go on vacation.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: We're gonna go on vacation, we're going to be traveling and teaching and doing what we do in the summer.
- 51:44SPEAKER_03: Leslie's gonna be judging this summer.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: So we are going to be having a wonderful busy summer for sure on our end, but we want to make sure that you're still engaged and don't forget about us.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: Don't forget us.
- 51:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, don't forget us.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: We're gonna be gone for three whole months.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: So over the summer, starting in July for the month of July, we're gonna we're going to rerun some episodes for you that are your favorite episodes.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: So in our Facebook group, we're gonna be doing some polls.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: They're gonna be starting in a week.
- 52:12SPEAKER_03: So be on the lookout for that.
- 52:14SPEAKER_03: And you're gonna let us know what episodes you would love to hear replayed on the podcast, and we'll have some favorite picks from you, all the fans.
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: So be on the lookout for that.
- 52:23SPEAKER_03: You can re-listen to some of your faves.
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: And I'm pumped for this break, but I'm so sad to leave you all.
- 52:31SPEAKER_03: It's been a great, great season.
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: And then, like, you know, Courtney and I see each other once a week for the whole year, you know, when we're doing this.
- 52:39SPEAKER_02: So it is kind of sad that I don't get to see Courtney all the time.
- 52:42SPEAKER_03: We live 10 minutes away, but we'll, I'm sure we'll see each other.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: It'll it'll be fine.
- 52:46SPEAKER_03: We'll make it work.
- 52:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:48SPEAKER_03: Well, um, all of you podcast listeners, thanks for tuning in to our wrap-up episode.
- 52:53SPEAKER_03: It's time for Leslie and I to go celebrate uh the wrap of season two.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: So thank you again.
- 52:59SPEAKER_03: Don't forget to subscribe.
- 53:01SPEAKER_03: Don't forget to continue to listen.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: And we are going to be launching season three on September 2nd.
- 53:11SPEAKER_03: I know you're already anxious and cannot wait for that date.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: But it's going to happen on Thursdays.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: Like always, we release on Thursdays to Market Calendars.
- 53:20SPEAKER_03: In fact, season three is coming to your earpods on Thursday, September 2nd.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: Until then, see you next time.
- 53:27SPEAKER_02: Thanks so much, thanks so much, Courtney, and everybody out there.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: Keep dancing, have a great, great summer.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: Have a great national, have a great vacation, have a great nap.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, have a great summer, and we'll see you in season three.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: See you in season three.
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: Bye.
