- 1:05Speaker 1: a podcaster queen from the lady gang, Kelty Knight. Welcome
- 1:11Speaker 1: to Juicy Scoop. I know you came on once before, correct?
- 1:14Speaker 3: I came on very early.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:16Speaker 3: When we were the only two podcasts that existed for females.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And our only advertisers were like Cars and Beer because
- 1:23Speaker 3: no female.
- 1:24Speaker 1: True Car.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, True Car. No women brands advertised our podcast because
- 1:29Speaker 3: there were no female podcasters. So like We look fucking great.
- 1:32Speaker 1: We're pioneers.
- 1:33Speaker 3: We did it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Still at it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Still at it.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You're welcome. You're welcome, everyone who started a podcast in
- 1:37Speaker 3: the last decade.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Heather and I would like, you know, please give us
- 1:40Speaker 3: our residuals.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I remember we met at a gifting suite. We met
- 1:45Speaker 1: at a gifting suite, which also don't exist anymore. God
- 1:48Speaker 1: damn it. And it was... Wait, maybe it wasn't. No,
- 1:52Speaker 1: it was you and your... Jack and Becca. Yeah, it
- 1:56Speaker 1: was one of your co-hosts. Yeah. And you're like... Oh,
- 1:59Speaker 1: we're at the same podcast company, too, and we listen
- 2:01Speaker 1: to yours, and yes.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And then I remember once we talked on the phone about, like,
- 2:07Speaker 1: merch and stuff. Well, and deals. And you're wearing your merch.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I mean, what a fucking psychopath. But you know what?
- 2:14Speaker 3: I know.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Listen.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Listen.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I'm not an idiot, Heather McDonald. I know how popular
- 2:18Speaker 3: this show is because I look at the charts every
- 2:20Speaker 3: week and I see that you are very high up
- 2:23Speaker 3: on the charts and have way more fans than Lady Gang.
- 2:25Speaker 3: So I'm not a fucking idiot. I am going to
- 2:27Speaker 3: wear my sweatshirt and make sure everyone knows that there
- 2:29Speaker 3: is a second podcast you could tune into if you'd like,
- 2:32Speaker 3: if you don't have enough Juicy Scoop.
- 2:33Speaker 1: In your life. I like your Lady Gang sweatshirt, Lady
- 2:37Speaker 1: Gang University. Very cute. Very cute.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Like you go to, you go to university and you
- 2:41Speaker 3: learn about like Yeast infections.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Getting out of the dick sand and like negotiating a
- 2:46Speaker 3: higher pay.
- 2:46Speaker 1: What does the dick sand mean?
- 2:48Speaker 3: The dick sand's like when a girl is like she's
- 2:52Speaker 3: having she's in a sexual relationship with someone that she
- 2:55Speaker 3: thinks is like going to end up in a real
- 2:58Speaker 3: relationship or it's just sex or it's messy. And, like,
- 3:02Speaker 3: she's blinded by the dicks, and she's stuck in the
- 3:04Speaker 3: dick sand, and she can't get out.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Are there multiple dicks in the sand, or just the
- 3:07Speaker 1: one dick is so, it's like quicksand?
- 3:09Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not going to judge you if it's
- 3:11Speaker 3: multiple dicks, but I would think when I have been
- 3:14Speaker 3: in the.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Did you create this scenario?
- 3:16Speaker 5: Yeah, we made it up.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Oh, you made it up.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It's like in the dick sand, like, you know, you're like,
- 3:20Speaker 3: you're just, like, with a guy, and you can't get out,
- 3:22Speaker 3: and you should get out, but he just keeps pulling
- 3:24Speaker 3: you back in.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Okay, got it. Like quicksand. Got it.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Dick sand.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And you're married.
- 3:28Speaker 3: You're a married woman. Yeah, I'm married. I've been married for.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Oh, my God, 10 years.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Congrats.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Are you married? Yes, I've been married 22.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, shit.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Okay, so what's our secret, Hollywood?
- 3:41Speaker 1: I said my secret is staying married has become my brand.
- 3:45Speaker 6: Oh.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And I like to stick with a brand that seems
- 3:48Speaker 1: to work.
- 3:49Speaker 3: As long as it's about work. She's like, I will
- 3:52Speaker 3: do everything for work and even my marriage. And I
- 3:55Speaker 3: appreciate that. Honestly, my TikToks with my husband get more views,
- 3:59Speaker 3: so I will stay married very much.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 3: People love it. People love it. I just remember, like,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I actually am, like, kind of oodled. I mean, I
- 4:06Speaker 3: know that we've met and it's been a few years, though.
- 4:11Speaker 3: I just, like, some moments of what I watched, like,
- 4:15Speaker 3: when I was, you know, just getting into Hollywood and stuff, like,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I was so obsessed with, like, Late Night on E! and, like,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I just remember seeing you and I just, you know,
- 4:24Speaker 3: it's like I can't believe I'm sitting with you. Like,
- 4:26Speaker 3: it's fucking cool.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I did it. God, okay, great.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 4:29Speaker 3: It's so embarrassing, but.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So, but, okay, so you guys had your lady gang.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And you had a TV show. Yeah. Which I think
- 4:37Speaker 1: was kind of what everybody thought when they started a podcast.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And might now. Now it's so saturated.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It really doesn't make, I don't even know if anyone's
- 4:47Speaker 1: getting picked up to do a show. But that was
- 4:50Speaker 1: always kind of my thought. Like, oh, maybe this will
- 4:52Speaker 1: turn into a show. And you guys really did make
- 4:55Speaker 1: it turn into a show. I think yours did.
- 4:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And also what was that other one with the guy
- 4:59Speaker 1: that's now on 9-1-1 and the girl? Anyway, they're funny.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I don't know if they still have a show. They
- 5:08Speaker 1: got a TV show for a minute. And then it
- 5:11Speaker 1: was to the point where people were pitching shows. This
- 5:13Speaker 1: is like seven years ago. And the agents and stuff
- 5:16Speaker 1: would say, the only way you're going to get a
- 5:19Speaker 1: TV show is if you have a podcast first. And
- 5:22Speaker 1: then you can prove that this was like a viable show. Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And now I feel like that's not happening. No one
- 5:27Speaker 1: wants to hear about your podcast becoming a TV show. Yes.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And you know what, Heather, you have Lady Gang to
- 5:32Speaker 3: thank for that because we, so here's the, can I
- 5:36Speaker 3: tell you the whole story? Cause it's actually kind of fascinating.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And I know Juicy Scoopers love the inside Hollywood. So
- 5:41Speaker 3: here's what's happened. Becca, after she was on Glee, could
- 5:45Speaker 3: not get another acting job. It happened with a lot
- 5:48Speaker 3: of the Glee cast is that You know, you were
- 5:50Speaker 3: so famous and it was such a big show that
- 5:52Speaker 3: like no one could see you as anything else but
- 5:54Speaker 3: like Kitty Wilde or whoever you were. So it's like
- 5:56Speaker 3: all that cast just started auditioning and it was like, no,
- 5:59Speaker 3: we know her too well. We want the next ingenue.
- 6:00Speaker 3: We want the next blonde girl, whatever. So she wasn't working.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I was working at Entertainment Tonight and I was miserable.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I was so tired. I was so burnt out. I
- 6:10Speaker 3: was like, there has got to be something else to
- 6:12Speaker 3: do with my life. And I was like, I really
- 6:13Speaker 3: want to own something. Becca and I were having sad
- 6:15Speaker 3: salads at the 101 Cafe. We're like crying into our
- 6:18Speaker 3: salads having lunch.
- 6:18Speaker 1: What kind of– your favorite salad.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I mean I hate vegetables and I will avoid a
- 6:22Speaker 3: salad like the play.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Really god I love a salad you do what was
- 6:26Speaker 1: what's a sad salad I mean a.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Sad salad is like any salad I probably was having
- 6:30Speaker 3: like some mixed salad oh what so.
- 6:32Speaker 1: You didn't have like a favorite one that you ate
- 6:34Speaker 1: when you were sad no.
- 6:35Speaker 3: My favorite salad would be like french fries oh okay
- 6:38Speaker 3: okay but we're having a sad salad because it's Hollywood
- 6:42Speaker 3: and I was like we should have a talk show
- 6:44Speaker 3: we need a talk show we're so funny you know
- 6:46Speaker 3: how like how every girl sits around and they're like
- 6:48Speaker 3: we're so funny And she was like, well, no one's
- 6:50Speaker 3: going to give us a talk show. We're not famous.
- 6:51Speaker 3: And I was like, yeah. But I was really into Serial,
- 6:54Speaker 3: the podcast.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Like true crime. It was the first podcast that made
- 6:57Speaker 3: me download the podcast. I was like, what if we
- 6:59Speaker 3: did a podcast? And she looked at me and she goes,
- 7:00Speaker 3: what's a podcast?
- 7:02Speaker 1: And so I was like, hmm.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So I pitched it. We started the show. And on
- 7:05Speaker 3: the second episode of the show, we'd had two episodes air.
- 7:09Speaker 3: We got a call from E. We got a call
- 7:11Speaker 3: from a development at E. And they were like, hey,
- 7:12Speaker 3: we want to talk about this show. We'd like to
- 7:15Speaker 3: produce it out as a digital series. And I was like, no,
- 7:18Speaker 3: thank you. I was like, this is a television show.
- 7:21Speaker 3: We're good. I don't know who the fuck I thought
- 7:23Speaker 3: I was. Sorry, I don't mean to swear.
- 7:24Speaker 1: No, that's fine.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I didn't know who I thought I was, but I
- 7:28Speaker 3: was like, nope, don't want a digital series. Because at
- 7:30Speaker 3: the time, this was like six years ago, seven years ago,
- 7:33Speaker 3: there was kind of like still a poo-poo on having
- 7:36Speaker 3: a digital series or a YouTube or something like that.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Right, or a webisode.
- 7:39Speaker 3: A webisode or something because you were still like, it's
- 7:42Speaker 3: for people who can't make it on TV.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Got it.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Now, Webisodes is like, it's for people who want advertising
- 7:47Speaker 3: dollars because that's where people put their money. But anyway,
- 7:49Speaker 3: at the time.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And you want to own your own thing.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 3: At the time, it was like, eh. So we said no,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and they were like, excuse me, what? And so then
- 7:56Speaker 3: for two years, we hustled. And I was like, when
- 7:58Speaker 3: we hit this many million downloads, I'm going to come
- 8:00Speaker 3: back to you and you guys are going to give
- 8:02Speaker 3: us a TV show. And that's what happened. We went back.
- 8:04Speaker 3: We developed the TV show, the production company. We sold
- 8:06Speaker 3: the show. And everything is going well. Everything's going well.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Except then... and this is where I ruin podcasting to
- 8:12Speaker 3: television shows, that everyone listened to our podcast and no
- 8:15Speaker 3: one watched our television show. Like literally 0.0000008% of the
- 8:21Speaker 3: people who weekly listen to Lady Gang tuned in to
- 8:24Speaker 3: the show on E! We had a lot of things
- 8:27Speaker 3: against us. Our time slot was 11.30 p.m.
- 8:30Speaker 1: On Sundays.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I got to be honest, at 11.30 p.m. on Sundays,
- 8:33Speaker 3: I've already taken a Xanax.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I'm asleep. So let me tell you about that. I
- 8:37Speaker 1: think it's really interesting because I've had Someone called me,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and I want to say they never published the article,
- 8:43Speaker 1: but it was after, who's the girl? Oh, my God.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Samantha Bee. Okay. So Samantha Bee's show, I believe, is canceled.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Yes.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And so someone called me and was like, do you
- 8:56Speaker 1: think that Late Night hates women and against women and
- 9:01Speaker 1: Hollywood against women? And I said, no, I think that
- 9:05Speaker 1: women go to bed. They work. They have children. They
- 9:13Speaker 1: aren't these guys that might stay up till 1 a.m.
- 9:17Speaker 1: to watch late night. And that's just the fact.
- 9:22Speaker 3: You're so right.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And I'm like, I just think that's it. And I go,
- 9:24Speaker 1: even when we were on E!, it was a half-hour show.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And there was a time based on when you got
- 9:30Speaker 1: it that the latest that you could watch it, like
- 9:34Speaker 1: we got it early because I always got the East
- 9:36Speaker 1: Coast of it early. So we could watch it like
- 9:38Speaker 1: seven or eight. And I think the latest that anyone
- 9:41Speaker 1: had to watch it was 11 on the East Coast.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And it was done by 1128. Right. Which really isn't
- 9:47Speaker 1: that late, which is kind of the perfect thing. Get
- 9:49Speaker 1: into bed, turn it off. Anything later than that. So
- 9:53Speaker 1: an executive's listening just trust me it's not about it's
- 9:57Speaker 1: not about people hating women it's just not it's like
- 10:01Speaker 1: knowing where the audience is and I said this the
- 10:05Speaker 1: other day to Natasha no yeah so Natasha Legere was
- 10:08Speaker 1: on my show I saw I watched and um and
- 10:11Speaker 1: she's like thank you so much for having me on
- 10:13Speaker 1: your audience is so great I got such a great
- 10:14Speaker 1: response unlike a couple of these guy podcasts and she's
- 10:18Speaker 1: in the podcasting game too but A couple of guy
- 10:20Speaker 1: podcasts I did was just like awful. And it's not
- 10:24Speaker 1: the host's fault. Their audience are men. And they're never
- 10:28Speaker 1: going to be into you. That's just it. Like, I'm
- 10:34Speaker 1: never going to listen to an ESPN podcast. Never. I
- 10:36Speaker 1: never am. If it was the last thing, a form
- 10:40Speaker 1: of entertainment, I wouldn't get into it. I would look
- 10:42Speaker 1: at the stars.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah, 100%. And I also think like, I mean, what
- 10:47Speaker 3: you've done and like even with Lady Gang, like it's,
- 10:50Speaker 3: It's cool to be a niche thing. Like, I think
- 10:52Speaker 3: that being a child... Born in the 80s. I was
- 10:54Speaker 3: a child of the 90s.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Like, I was.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I came of age when it was, like, all or
- 10:58Speaker 3: nothing celebrities. It was, like, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Cher. Like,
- 11:03Speaker 3: you're either the biggest star in the world or you're nobody.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:06Speaker 3: And I feel like now, in this day and age,
- 11:09Speaker 3: it's like you don't actually have to matter to everyone
- 11:13Speaker 3: in the zeitgeist to be incredibly successful and popular. Like,
- 11:17Speaker 3: it's not... an all or nothing thing. But I also
- 11:20Speaker 3: think I'm layered up in my 18 steps in school.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Like I do not want to be awake at 1130
- 11:25Speaker 3: watching television. Like I, I, if I was awake at 1130,
- 11:28Speaker 3: I would probably be a better wife and have sex
- 11:30Speaker 3: with my husband, but I'm too tired to do anything.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I want to lay down. I want to take a
- 11:33Speaker 3: sleeping pill and.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Go to sleep. So you had this, yeah, this time
- 11:37Speaker 1: that didn't work.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Well, we did a season and a half. So the
- 11:40Speaker 3: first season, um, and I work at E now. So, uh,
- 11:44Speaker 3: You know, I love E. But the first season, it's
- 11:47Speaker 3: a lot of different people there now.
- 11:49Speaker 1: No, I don't think it's E. I don't. I mean,
- 11:51Speaker 1: it's exactly what you said. And it's like– and our
- 11:54Speaker 1: audience consumes content differently than they did 10 years ago.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And so that's another part of it.
- 12:01Speaker 3: So the funniest part, and I mean this with love,
- 12:04Speaker 3: was like our lead-in was The Busy Phillips Show. And
- 12:08Speaker 3: I really enjoyed Busy Phillips on Instagram.
- 12:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And similarly to no one enjoying us, Lady Gang on TV,
- 12:16Speaker 3: I did not enjoy her on television.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you my Busy Phillips story.
- 12:21Speaker 6: Okay.
- 12:21Speaker 1: So I met Busy Phillips when she was cast on
- 12:25Speaker 1: White Chicks, which I was a writer on and I
- 12:27Speaker 1: appeared on. And it was one of those days. So
- 12:30Speaker 1: I had to go to Canada because I was the
- 12:32Speaker 1: girl that was the sales girl. And she and the
- 12:35Speaker 1: two other girls and Sean and Marlon as the White
- 12:38Speaker 1: Chicks come into the store.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So that's when I met her. And, you know, I
- 12:43Speaker 1: wrote that whole scene and wrote the scene for her
- 12:46Speaker 1: and everything. And we hung out in the trailer together.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And I remember I'm like, so what's your story? Tell
- 12:53Speaker 1: me your story. And she's like, well, I was born
- 12:56Speaker 1: a small white child. And I like dropped. I was like,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you're so funny. Like she really started from the beginning.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And so we had this like great day and we
- 13:03Speaker 1: had so much fun. And then at the premiere, we
- 13:05Speaker 1: had fun. And then don't keep in touch or anything.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I don't know that she ever came on Chelsea, but,
- 13:12Speaker 1: you know, I saw all the different things that she
- 13:13Speaker 1: was doing and that she was on the Courtney Cox
- 13:15Speaker 1: show and this and that. And then I saw that,
- 13:17Speaker 1: you know, I mean, you know, she became quite famous
- 13:22Speaker 1: for being Michelle's best friend after Heath Ledger died and
- 13:25Speaker 1: she got to be the plus one. Right.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Sure.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And then she had some funny Instagram moments of being
- 13:30Speaker 1: locked out of her house and all this. So she
- 13:32Speaker 1: gets the show. And I'm like, yeah, I could see
- 13:35Speaker 1: why E would choose her. She's like, you know, a younger,
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's a younger, nicer, Instagram-friendly version of a blonde that
- 13:44Speaker 1: we originally had. Yes. So it's like, okay. And so
- 13:48Speaker 1: I was like, congrats and everything. And totally, I could
- 13:54Speaker 1: not get on her show. I was pitched. I think
- 13:57Speaker 1: I'm funny. I could have talked about hot topics. We
- 14:00Speaker 1: could have talked about whatever. So totally ignored with that.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And then I think the final thing I did was
- 14:06Speaker 1: I thought her show was so bad that then I
- 14:08Speaker 1: did an impression of it. And I think I tagged
- 14:12Speaker 1: her and I think she was like, ha-ha or whatever.
- 14:15Speaker 1: So she had like a good impression of it. But
- 14:17Speaker 1: it was just– it was very much just like, oh,
- 14:19Speaker 1: my gosh, and, you know, that type of thing. And
- 14:22Speaker 1: I– I also think on talk shows, and I think
- 14:26Speaker 1: this is kind of interesting too, and even for podcasting too,
- 14:28Speaker 1: because I was saying to my husband, I'm like, I
- 14:32Speaker 1: don't know, maybe it's time that we just do something
- 14:35Speaker 1: different with this space.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And I said, but I want a table. I don't
- 14:41Speaker 1: want to be in a fluffy chair.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Wearing anything. Indian style or having a cocktail because I
- 14:46Speaker 1: feel like after Chelsea Lately there was a bunch of
- 14:48Speaker 1: talk shows that were like let's have a cocktail let's
- 14:51Speaker 1: get comfy and to me as a stand up and
- 14:54Speaker 1: as someone that delivers material I feel like you have
- 14:57Speaker 1: to be like get your mind in the spot to
- 15:01Speaker 1: like deliver that this isn't just a low blow conversation.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It maybe can work for a podcast just for me. Like,
- 15:08Speaker 1: so I didn't think it worked for her that they
- 15:11Speaker 1: were like lounging around on a couch and having cocktails.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm like, I think it should be a little more
- 15:17Speaker 1: structured to like deliver the funny and deliver the stories
- 15:21Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And you know what, Heather?
- 15:23Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 15:23Speaker 3: You're just so smart, but it, it's the exact same.
- 15:26Speaker 3: I'm not, I'm trying to hide my hands cause I
- 15:28Speaker 3: have a horrific spray tan hand right now. And I'm just,
- 15:31Speaker 3: I'm hiding them under my, as.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I hide it. And now you've said it. Now people
- 15:33Speaker 1: want to see it. Here it is. Um, okay.
- 15:36Speaker 3: So here I just literally use my own spray tan
- 15:39Speaker 3: from Rite Aid. Um, okay. So anyway, um, What you're
- 15:43Speaker 3: saying about sleeping.
- 15:44Speaker 1: About just being too loungy for a talk show situation.
- 15:48Speaker 3: This is the same problem that happens with every celebrity
- 15:50Speaker 3: that start a podcast.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:52Speaker 3: They're like, I'm just going to hang out with my
- 15:53Speaker 3: friends and like have some real talk. And I was like, no, actually,
- 15:57Speaker 3: the best podcasts on the planet are highly produced. She's
- 16:00Speaker 3: got a whole rundown. She's got a thing. There's sections.
- 16:02Speaker 3: There's production value. You're actually boring. Hollywood is incredibly boring. People,
- 16:09Speaker 3: in general, are boring, which is why we're watching Game
- 16:11Speaker 3: of Thrones like psychos. We're boring. We need other things
- 16:15Speaker 3: to entertain us. So sitting around just for blobbing for
- 16:18Speaker 3: an hour is the most boring shit I've ever seen
- 16:20Speaker 3: in my life, and some of these podcasts are unlistenable.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Well, when I was pitching Juicy Scoop for a new
- 16:26Speaker 1: home recently....
- 16:28Speaker 3: I would drink this water.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yes. That's a fresh water for you. Thank you. So
- 16:31Speaker 1: what I would say was, I would say that I
- 16:35Speaker 1: pitch it. I go, listen, I know a little before
- 16:38Speaker 1: COVID is certainly different. Every manager and agent convinced their star.
- 16:44Speaker 1: You just have to sit on your bed and talk
- 16:45Speaker 1: to your dog for an hour on Tuesday nights.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And you're going to make a million dollars.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And you guys paid the million dollars. Idiots. I literally
- 16:54Speaker 1: was saying this to the network. And you paid the
- 16:56Speaker 1: million dollars.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:58Speaker 3: How was your return on investment?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Of the 10, maybe there's one that's hanging on. And
- 17:03Speaker 1: the rest have let that expire, let it go, whatever.
- 17:07Speaker 1: You didn't renew it. They didn't renew it. They realized
- 17:09Speaker 1: how much work. They got another series. They didn't keep
- 17:12Speaker 1: up with this side gig. I'm like, this is my job. Right.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You know, if someone wants to hand me a sitcom,
- 17:19Speaker 1: I'll think about it. But I'm not pursuing one. I'm
- 17:21Speaker 1: not pitching shows. It's just juicy scoop. So, like, you
- 17:25Speaker 1: might want to invest in me because I'll be Howard
- 17:27Speaker 1: Stern until I'm 75. Exactly. So, like, what do you
- 17:30Speaker 1: want to put your money in? And it's just kind
- 17:32Speaker 1: of interesting to see it. And I love that you
- 17:34Speaker 1: see it, too. Because when you've done it a long time,
- 17:37Speaker 1: it's like I want to say, I don't want to
- 17:39Speaker 1: be bitter Betty that everybody's doing it. And I was
- 17:42Speaker 1: a little bit. Now I'm like, the more the merrier.
- 17:44Speaker 1: You're bringing awareness. There's still people that have never downloaded
- 17:46Speaker 1: a podcast. So if they go because they want to
- 17:49Speaker 1: listen to Meghan Markle and they realize how that maybe
- 17:52Speaker 1: isn't for them, then maybe eventually they'll make it a
- 17:55Speaker 1: way to the, okay, what are these big good ones
- 17:58Speaker 1: that people talk about? Let me listen to Joe Rogan
- 18:00Speaker 1: and Juicy Scoop and Lady Gaga. Okay, let me find
- 18:02Speaker 1: the good ones that have been around. You know, NPR, whatever.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So it's like, so I kind of see it like that.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And at the same time, I'm like, it also, if
- 18:10Speaker 1: you are just someone that wants to do it because
- 18:13Speaker 1: you do have that girlfriend across the street, maybe a
- 18:16Speaker 1: hundred people will listen, but what a great chronicling of
- 18:20Speaker 1: your life. Like if it is about motherhood or whatever,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and you have it and you look back, or maybe
- 18:25Speaker 1: you do it for a year and you put it away.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And then a year, you know, two years later, you
- 18:29Speaker 1: listen to it and you're like, whoa, I just thought
- 18:31Speaker 1: of a really good book I could write.
- 18:34Speaker 3: So it's like, I'm sorry, I'm still steaming that Busy
- 18:37Speaker 3: didn't put you on her show. I'm sorry, this whole time,
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'm listening to the story, I'm agreeing with you, you're
- 18:41Speaker 3: absolutely right, Meghan Markle's podcast is less than desirable. But,
- 18:46Speaker 3: and I love Meghan, but I'm still pissed about her.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Motherfucker, that bitch. No, but I mean, again... I don't know.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Like it could have been, it could have also been like,
- 18:57Speaker 1: we're going for big stars.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Or, Hey, I have so much pressure.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Also E has never had me on since Chelsea lately ended.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Then they had me on to do nightly pop. Right.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I was supposed to do three days. Yeah. And then
- 19:11Speaker 1: after the first day they told my agent that I'm
- 19:13Speaker 1: fired for the three. What happened? I don't know. They
- 19:18Speaker 1: paid me for the three days. It wasn't easy, but
- 19:20Speaker 1: I did get paid for it. But when I got
- 19:22Speaker 1: there and the guy was like, I'm so excited that
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're here. I've been trying to get you on for
- 19:26Speaker 1: a while. I looked at him and I'm like, yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 1: I haven't been on in seven years. I've had two specials.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I hit podcasts. I've been pitched. I'm thinking, well, I
- 19:37Speaker 1: guess whoever hated me is gone now.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Because the networks do, the executives and the people in charge,
- 19:43Speaker 3: they do turn over quite quickly.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And they have something. When people go like, are you
- 19:47Speaker 1: banned or whatever– The banning continues. just be one person. Right, sure.
- 19:52Speaker 1: It's not like 100 people got together in a room
- 19:54Speaker 1: and voted and said, we're not going to ever have
- 19:57Speaker 1: Heather McDowell work in this town again. It doesn't work
- 19:59Speaker 1: like that. But there are definitely places, like I've had
- 20:03Speaker 1: publicists and stuff, or someone's come to me and been like,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I want to be your publicist, and I'm like, If
- 20:09Speaker 1: you can get me on The View or The Talk,
- 20:12Speaker 1: then I'll hire you for six months because I can't
- 20:15Speaker 1: get on either one of those shows.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Because they could really use you on The Talk.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Because they say no every time. And then I did
- 20:22Speaker 1: that as an experiment. Yeah. And the girl came back
- 20:26Speaker 1: and she's like, yeah. And I go, do you know why?
- 20:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Like– Like if I was going to die tomorrow, I'd
- 20:33Speaker 1: be like, I would like, there's a few things I'd
- 20:35Speaker 1: like to know. Like, and this is one of them.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Like, I don't know.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I think it's just whatever the thing is. Someone doesn't
- 20:40Speaker 1: like me on it. Someone thinks I'm too recognizable as
- 20:42Speaker 1: a Chelsea Lately. I don't know what it is and
- 20:44Speaker 1: I don't care anymore.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Christmas shopping has already started in our house. My daughter
- 20:49Speaker 5: is so organised, already planning Christmas gifts from Macaulay. Hair
- 20:53Speaker 5: care for her aunt and a fab fragrance for her bestie.
- 20:56Speaker 5: But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm
- 20:58Speaker 5: an early bird, buying one present a week from now
- 21:01Speaker 5: till Christmas, which makes budgeting less stressful. I can buy
- 21:04Speaker 5: in-store or online from Macaulay.ie for home delivery or free
- 21:08Speaker 5: click and collect.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So easy.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Gifts they'll cherish at prices you'll love.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 21:19Speaker 2: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 21:22Speaker 2: have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have found a
- 21:26Speaker 2: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 21:29Speaker 6: Life is one long lesson of chaos. I'm heading to
- 21:32Speaker 6: the Emmys and I have police complaints filed against me.
- 21:35Speaker 6: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 21:38Speaker 6: what would you do if it was given back?
- 21:40Speaker 4: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 21:43Speaker 4: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 21:45Speaker 1: He said, I have a work dad.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I need a home dad.
- 21:48Speaker 4: What happens next?
- 21:49Speaker 2: When I came in, he started crying.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 21:55Speaker 4: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 21:57Speaker 4: happens next.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I decided to risk it all.
- 22:00Speaker 5: I realized how valuable every day was.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You're worth the work.
- 22:03Speaker 6: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches.
- 22:05Speaker 1: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 22:07Speaker 2: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 22:21Speaker 1: I just don't care anymore because of the success of this.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I don't care anymore. I do love having a car
- 22:28Speaker 1: pick me up. I do like buying a new outfit.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I like being on TV with the perfect lighting. I
- 22:33Speaker 1: like watching myself that night on my DVR. I kind
- 22:37Speaker 1: of miss it. But I'm also accepting that it doesn't
- 22:41Speaker 1: really matter anymore. And if you don't want me, it's fine.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Well, this happened to me a few years ago. So
- 22:47Speaker 3: I stepped away from working. I was at Entertainment Tonight
- 22:49Speaker 3: and The Insider at CBS for over a decade. And
- 22:52Speaker 3: I got to a point where Lady Gang was so big.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I mean, when we were doing Lady Gang TV, which
- 22:55Speaker 3: is why it's, like, so traumatic for me, we were
- 22:58Speaker 3: getting up at 4 in the morning, doing hair and makeup.
- 22:59Speaker 3: We filmed it in my house, filming Lady Gang TV
- 23:02Speaker 3: from 7 a.m.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Till noon.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Then I was going into E.T., doing E.T., and then
- 23:06Speaker 3: coming back and podcasting at night with the girls in
- 23:08Speaker 3: my closet. Like, it was just an insane schedule, and
- 23:11Speaker 3: I was doing so many things.
- 23:12Speaker 1: So when you were doing the TV version— So you
- 23:16Speaker 1: weren't using any material that you would then use for
- 23:18Speaker 1: the actual podcast.
- 23:19Speaker 6: No.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It had to be separate. Yeah, two shows a week.
- 23:21Speaker 3: So it was like extra shows. Yeah, extra shows. We
- 23:23Speaker 3: had celebrity guests like in a bigger way on the
- 23:26Speaker 3: show show.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw it. I remember it.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It was just a mess.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I thought it was like a pretty cute situation. Like
- 23:33Speaker 1: I thought it was cute. I thought it was like
- 23:34Speaker 1: well lit. I thought it like made sense.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Thank you, Heather. You know, it's crushing on TikTok right now.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I started putting up the old clips.
- 23:41Speaker 7: Yes.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Of the show and nothing's more and more popular.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Were so viral of all these old clips.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Will you mark down? I just came across some old
- 23:50Speaker 1: videos of me on Chelsea lately.
- 23:52Speaker 3: You have to put them up. People love that.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And cause he took them all down.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Well, I shouldn't say this anyway, but anyway, I have
- 23:59Speaker 1: a couple. You should put them up.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's amazing. They do so well. And like, they never
- 24:03Speaker 3: put our show in streaming or anything. So it's just dead.
- 24:05Speaker 3: And I'm like, no one sued me yet. So I
- 24:07Speaker 3: just keep putting them up.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Sorry.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Um, but yeah. So anyway, when I left DT, um,
- 24:13Speaker 3: people were like what my parents were like what do
- 24:16Speaker 3: you mean you're quitting your television job to then work
- 24:20Speaker 3: in your basement on your podcast that we don't know
- 24:22Speaker 3: what that is like they looked at me like you're
- 24:24Speaker 3: losing your mind and it's just it sucks and you
- 24:28Speaker 3: miss it and you're like oh i'm not on the
- 24:30Speaker 3: red carpet feeling like i'm important anymore and all the
- 24:32Speaker 3: fake shit that goes with hollywood that actually is like
- 24:34Speaker 3: really fun like the free facials and like all that
- 24:36Speaker 3: shit goes away But being in control and never, you
- 24:41Speaker 3: know when people are like, do you want a facial?
- 24:42Speaker 3: You're like, yeah, like always.
- 24:44Speaker 1: No, and like going to those.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Like gifting sweets and the free shoes and all that
- 24:48Speaker 3: shit that like, you know.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And yeah, when the Emmys come around and stuff, that
- 24:51Speaker 1: was a fun time. And being on Chelsea and stuff,
- 24:53Speaker 1: we did a lot of that.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I did like an E!
- 24:55Speaker 1: After Show. Right.
- 24:56Speaker 3: So that kind of stuff, like you kind of miss.
- 24:59Speaker 3: And then you're following everyone on Instagram, which I then
- 25:01Speaker 3: blocked it. Not blocked everyone.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Muted.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Muted everyone because it was like. makes you jealous I
- 25:06Speaker 3: didn't have enough therapy sessions to like deal with all
- 25:08Speaker 3: that so but when I left like everyone was like
- 25:10Speaker 3: what are you talking about I was like I really
- 25:12Speaker 3: believe in this I believe I can do my own
- 25:15Speaker 3: thing that I'll have the power that when I want
- 25:17Speaker 3: to take three weeks off during the holidays and go
- 25:20Speaker 3: to an island I will like I can pre-tape the
- 25:22Speaker 3: episodes like just having that freedom because I worked every
- 25:25Speaker 3: Christmas every New Year's on my birthday the day after
- 25:28Speaker 3: I had a miscarriage like every single fucking day you
- 25:31Speaker 3: had to work for someone else and you work for
- 25:33Speaker 3: their brand and I just I loved doing my own thing,
- 25:35Speaker 3: which is why like I have so much respect for
- 25:37Speaker 3: what you've done because, you know, like to be honest,
- 25:40Speaker 3: like screw those shows that won't book you. They're idiots.
- 25:42Speaker 3: You're great television. And also some of those shows, not
- 25:46Speaker 3: the view I would maybe say about the talk is
- 25:48Speaker 3: not to me in the most interesting part. It's like
- 25:51Speaker 3: they need a little fire. People are so afraid. I
- 25:54Speaker 3: think people are very still, very afraid of women who
- 25:56Speaker 3: speak their mind and are loud and podcasting. People love it.
- 25:59Speaker 3: So you're like, yes.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Well, let's see because there's actually– An audition for the talk.
- 26:04Speaker 3: No, I'm– Jerry's leaving.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm with Sony.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Okay.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And they said– and one of the reasons I went
- 26:13Speaker 1: with them is just– because I think they're great and
- 26:17Speaker 1: it's just a good deal for me. Yeah. But I
- 26:19Speaker 1: do everything myself. Right. But I said– So if somebody
- 26:24Speaker 1: is bothering to listen, I said, let's see. And they said,
- 26:28Speaker 1: why are you thinking about going somewhere else? I said,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I just think more people should know who I am. Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I just don't get why nobody knows who I am.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And they were like, OK, we want to do that
- 26:38Speaker 1: for you. So then I talked to their PR person.
- 26:42Speaker 1: We'll see. So far, so far, nothing's come. OK, so no, no.
- 26:48Speaker 1: has asked me and I said you could pitch me
- 26:50Speaker 1: to Tamara Hall you could pitch me to Jay had
- 26:53Speaker 1: to talk about women in podcasting and how to do
- 26:55Speaker 1: it and why like I said like the good things
- 26:58Speaker 1: about it and that you shouldn't be intimidated and like
- 27:00Speaker 1: but also to be honest like you're not going to
- 27:02Speaker 1: make money unless you have a certain amount of people
- 27:06Speaker 1: listening but it can still be something that just like
- 27:09Speaker 1: journaling or posting online like it still can be a
- 27:12Speaker 1: great way of getting your creativity juices going and And
- 27:17Speaker 1: all that. And so far, I don't know. I don't
- 27:20Speaker 1: know if they're going to pick. But like I'm a
- 27:22Speaker 1: little bit jaded about that stuff. So I'm kind of like, hey,
- 27:26Speaker 1: if nothing happens, I still like this deal.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Because my people can still listen and I still do
- 27:32Speaker 1: my extra juicy scoop on Fridays and there's still all
- 27:34Speaker 1: of that.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: But I'm just so like, like nobody's ever going to.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I'm just very unlikely to believe anybody's song and dance
- 27:45Speaker 1: about what they can do for me because I've just
- 27:48Speaker 1: done it so long. And that's why I love having
- 27:53Speaker 1: my own thing. And then talking about the Balenciaga thing,
- 27:57Speaker 1: I was like, I'll talk about it. And I don't
- 27:59Speaker 1: really care. And there have been times even when I've
- 28:02Speaker 1: censored myself. That I'm not going to censor myself anymore about.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, isn't it interesting that we can now
- 28:09Speaker 1: talk about this thing that we couldn't talk about 18
- 28:13Speaker 1: months ago. Now we can talk about it? Oh, now
- 28:14Speaker 1: we're allowed.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Now we're not evil, awful people that thought differently from you.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Now you're like, hmm, I just won't. But the people
- 28:24Speaker 1: that thought you were evil talking about it, they'll never go, hey,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I was wrong.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Of course not.
- 28:27Speaker 1: But they just won't attack what you're saying now.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:30Speaker 1: They'll just be like. Oh, okay.
- 28:32Speaker 3: You were right.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Let me eat this crow.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's okay.
- 28:36Speaker 3: And that's okay.
- 28:36Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's great. I think what you've
- 28:39Speaker 3: done is amazing. And, you know, it's just, it's a
- 28:43Speaker 3: testament to just working hard and being in control of
- 28:49Speaker 3: your own thing and that it's pretty ugly most of
- 28:51Speaker 3: the time, but, like, actually has a ray of sunshine.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Being that it's been the three of you, was there
- 28:58Speaker 1: ever a time because... Truffles are tough.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Whether it's sexual or not. And has there ever been
- 29:06Speaker 1: a time where you didn't think that you could power
- 29:09Speaker 1: through as a truffle?
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:11Speaker 1: A thruple. Not a truple. A truple?
- 29:14Speaker 3: That's like a 13 people.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Trouble and a thruple. No, a thruple business women, three
- 29:20Speaker 1: of you.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be honest. We were just about to celebrate
- 29:23Speaker 3: seven years and for six years, people used to ask
- 29:26Speaker 3: this question all the time. We'd be like, we don't
- 29:27Speaker 3: really fight. We're like brutally honest with each other and
- 29:29Speaker 3: like whatever happens, we just nip it in the bud
- 29:31Speaker 3: and like it goes. And then we went on tour
- 29:34Speaker 3: and this year was a year of just maniac level Kelty-isms.
- 29:39Speaker 3: So we had like multiple really big brand deals and
- 29:43Speaker 3: podcasting crazy. Beck had a new baby via surrogate. So
- 29:46Speaker 3: the baby like came into our world in February. She
- 29:49Speaker 3: took four weeks off and then it was like, go
- 29:51Speaker 3: time to prep for this tour.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So tell me what the tour was. When did it start?
- 29:55Speaker 3: So we started in September. We wrote our second book. Okay.
- 29:58Speaker 3: And the book is called Lady Secrets. It's really freaking good.
- 30:02Speaker 3: It's all these essays about us of like when I
- 30:05Speaker 3: went on The Bachelor to get a hosting career and
- 30:07Speaker 3: it didn't work. I got kicked out of on the
- 30:09Speaker 3: second night because I'm not that desirable. And like all
- 30:12Speaker 3: these really funny essay stories, kind of like your books.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 30:16Speaker 3: And then we also have Community secrets. We asked the
- 30:18Speaker 3: lady gang. We had a hotline, 1-844-SEXY-LADY. And people called
- 30:21Speaker 3: in and they were like, I pretend to fall asleep
- 30:24Speaker 3: because I hate my in-laws. I catfished my husband into
- 30:28Speaker 3: marrying me by pretending to be someone shitty online. Just
- 30:31Speaker 3: weird stuff.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Love it.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we put it together.
- 30:33Speaker 6: It's awesome.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And so we did this big book tour because we
- 30:35Speaker 3: were supposed to do a book tour for our first book.
- 30:37Speaker 3: It all got canceled because of COVID. And we're like,
- 30:39Speaker 3: we will be rock stars on the bus. So we
- 30:42Speaker 3: did the whole thing.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Now, how did you do all this? Because you were
- 30:45Speaker 1: just asking me how I do my tour. And I've
- 30:48Speaker 1: always toured, gone to clubs starting over like 12 years
- 30:53Speaker 1: ago is kind of what I started headlining 12, 13
- 30:55Speaker 1: years ago. Around then. And I would book a weekend
- 31:00Speaker 1: at a club, like a Thursday, and then I'd come
- 31:03Speaker 1: home on a Sunday or whatever. And then when Chelsea landed,
- 31:07Speaker 1: I'd do it a little bit more. But my husband
- 31:09Speaker 1: and I were always like, I really don't want to
- 31:11Speaker 1: go more than twice a weekend. But sometimes they'd be
- 31:14Speaker 1: back-to-back weekends. Sometimes it'd be three. But I'd really try
- 31:17Speaker 1: to only do two weekends a month. What do I mean?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Two weekends a month. And so with this last one,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm going to do a live Juicy Scoop
- 31:23Speaker 1: tour where I'm not going to record it. I'm not
- 31:26Speaker 1: going to post it. It's going to be this great thing.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I want Annie, who produces my show, to come with me.
- 31:33Speaker 1: But what I originally told my agent was like, but
- 31:35Speaker 1: I want to do it like a real tour where
- 31:37Speaker 1: I'm like gone for two weeks. I never set a bus. Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 1: But I thought like where I could go Wednesday one city,
- 31:44Speaker 1: Thursday another, Friday. So I maybe have like a night
- 31:47Speaker 1: or two to relax, but then do like five more cities.
- 31:49Speaker 1: And just be gone for like two and a half weeks.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Don't even come home in between. Have the outfits. Get
- 31:54Speaker 1: the routine going. And I don't even know how you
- 31:59Speaker 1: book things. I know my agent works really hard. It
- 32:02Speaker 1: just didn't make sense to get the big cities. And
- 32:05Speaker 1: then I thought, oh, yeah, maybe it would be hard
- 32:06Speaker 1: to get a bunch of people to come out on
- 32:07Speaker 1: a Wednesday. I don't know. Whatever. It is. Yes. So
- 32:11Speaker 1: we did it.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Or how about a Monday in Phoenix?
- 32:14Speaker 1: So, like, okay, I want to hear about yours. So
- 32:15Speaker 1: the way we did it was we would do two
- 32:18Speaker 1: or three cities in a weekend. Yeah. And then– but
- 32:20Speaker 1: we did it over September, October, November. And we would
- 32:23Speaker 1: have some time to come home and we'd have weekends off. Okay.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Now it's done.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 1: So I never had that tour thing, but you guys
- 32:31Speaker 1: actually got a bus.
- 32:33Speaker 3: We had a bus.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Did you have a tour guide person that came with
- 32:36Speaker 1: you the whole time?
- 32:37Speaker 3: Well, we have a very like senior producer of Lady
- 32:40Speaker 3: Gang who oversees everything and she came on the bus
- 32:42Speaker 3: with us. And then we had also an assistant who
- 32:44Speaker 3: came on the bus. And then we had a tour
- 32:46Speaker 3: manager that was working remotely, like advancing the cities and
- 32:50Speaker 3: getting what you need in the dressing room and what
- 32:52Speaker 3: kind of lighting you need. And then we had a
- 32:53Speaker 3: trailer full of merchandise and our whole setup and our
- 32:56Speaker 3: brand setups. And we literally hauled that shit around.
- 32:58Speaker 1: America by ourselves. So you had a bus and a
- 33:00Speaker 1: trailer and you slept on the bus?
- 33:01Speaker 3: We slept on the bus. We did not have the
- 33:03Speaker 3: budget for hotels.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Did you have the bus wrapped thing, Lady Gang?
- 33:06Speaker 5: I wish.
- 33:06Speaker 3: It's $ 40, 000. That was my dream. I tried to get
- 33:09Speaker 3: a brand to pay for it. I was like, literally,
- 33:11Speaker 3: it can be like, WaxYourButthole.com plus the Lady Gang tour. Like,
- 33:15Speaker 3: please just give me $ 40, 000.
- 33:16Speaker 2: No.
- 33:17Speaker 3: It's very expensive. The bus is very expensive. But, so
- 33:21Speaker 3: we slept on the bus. And then what kind of
- 33:23Speaker 3: venues did you do? So, we really, thanks for bringing
- 33:27Speaker 3: it up. It's like really traumatic. We really fucked ourselves. So,
- 33:31Speaker 3: we normally were doing like city wineries, which is like 200, 300, 1,000 seats.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But then this one, I just graduated to theaters. But still,
- 33:40Speaker 1: I was, Conscious of how big the theater could be.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I think the biggest one was Wilbur at like 1,100.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 33:47Speaker 1: But most of them were not. And if they're a
- 33:49Speaker 1: little bit smaller, like a 500, then I did two
- 33:51Speaker 1: shows in the night. Yes.
- 33:53Speaker 3: And that's probably because you've been touring for 15 years
- 33:57Speaker 3: and amazing. So we also played the Wilbur.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 3: And I think we did about 400, 500 tickets. It's
- 34:04Speaker 3: like an 1,100 seat theater. So that's super embarrassing. They
- 34:08Speaker 3: like closed off the top. I mean, we got placed in, like,
- 34:12Speaker 3: we sold out the Gramercy in New York, which is
- 34:14Speaker 3: 400 seats. That's perfect for us. But we had a
- 34:16Speaker 3: bunch of theaters that were, like, 800 seats. And we're like, well,
- 34:19Speaker 3: even if we sell, like, 600 tickets, it'll be fine.
- 34:22Speaker 3: And then everyone and their mother went on tour this fall.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Both of us were on tour. So many artists. And, like,
- 34:27Speaker 3: people are still not really leaving their houses. You know what.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I also noticed is even if we were sold out,
- 34:32Speaker 1: people didn't come. They just decided not to come that night.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And I think it's, like, a different vibe. Also, I mean,
- 34:38Speaker 1: my audience... Our mothers, some are older and some are
- 34:43Speaker 1: young that want to stay home. And I just think
- 34:45Speaker 1: the day comes and they're like, I'm not feeling it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Or my friend can't go. And I'd always, we'd always
- 34:50Speaker 1: encourage that juicy scooper to come alone.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Because we're like, you will be sitting, you will meet
- 34:54Speaker 1: so many other people. But so here I did sell
- 34:58Speaker 1: it out and there'd be like empty seats in front.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 1: And I'm like, God, I never saw that before COVID.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:04Speaker 3: It's really weird. So it was like, there was, there
- 35:06Speaker 3: was so much pressure on us. So then the sales
- 35:10Speaker 3: were like fine. Like I'm just going to say they
- 35:13Speaker 3: were fine. They were COVID fine, I guess. The book
- 35:16Speaker 3: sales were pretty dismal. Like we just had a first
- 35:19Speaker 3: book come out. It made the New York Times list,
- 35:20Speaker 3: made the USA Today. like it made the Toronto Star list,
- 35:24Speaker 3: like it was really successful, which is why they wanted
- 35:26Speaker 3: us to write a second book. And people were like,
- 35:29Speaker 3: we don't need another book from you. So the book
- 35:31Speaker 3: sales were like really tragic. And so it was like
- 35:36Speaker 3: all of the most negative things were happening to us
- 35:39Speaker 3: at the same time while we were together, while I
- 35:41Speaker 3: ripped Becca Tobin away from her newborn.
- 35:43Speaker 1: So how much time was spent altogether on, To hit
- 35:48Speaker 1: all these 15 cities.
- 35:49Speaker 3: So we had three weeks.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 35:51Speaker 3: And, like, by the end of it, Jack and Becca
- 35:52Speaker 3: were like, I'm just going to fly into this city. Like,
- 35:54Speaker 3: I'm not riding the bus with you. And it got
- 35:56Speaker 3: to the point where it was– I mean, once we
- 35:59Speaker 3: didn't make the New York Times list and I had
- 36:00Speaker 3: an epic meltdown on the street in Atlanta and, like, cried,
- 36:03Speaker 3: then we could laugh after that. And so then from
- 36:06Speaker 3: that point on, like, we kind of had fun. But
- 36:08Speaker 3: it was just really stressful. And it's like, you know,
- 36:10Speaker 3: I think you feel the same way, which is why
- 36:13Speaker 3: I really– admire what you're doing is like, you actually
- 36:16Speaker 3: really care about your fans. Like for me, I don't want,
- 36:19Speaker 3: we call them the lady gangers. Like, we don't want
- 36:21Speaker 3: those girls to come and not have the best show
- 36:23Speaker 3: of their life. We want the best merch, the best freebies,
- 36:26Speaker 3: the best screen stuff. Like we want them to like
- 36:28Speaker 3: really have a good time and meet friends and like,
- 36:30Speaker 3: you know, don't spend the money and then just be like, Oh,
- 36:32Speaker 3: that was okay. Like you want it to be amazing.
- 36:34Speaker 3: And so we put so much pressure on ourselves and like,
- 36:36Speaker 3: I actually really care if people walk out and they're like, yeah,
- 36:39Speaker 3: it was fine. Like, no, I need you to have
- 36:40Speaker 3: a five star experience. I want you to love this.
- 36:43Speaker 3: And just doing like a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- 36:46Speaker 3: shows like it's too much. We needed time to live
- 36:49Speaker 3: and experience a bad Chick-fil-A. I mean, I don't know Chick-fil-A,
- 36:52Speaker 3: but experience life or something. Because what are we talking about?
- 36:58Speaker 3: You know what I mean? There's nothing new going on.
- 36:59Speaker 3: And so it was pretty bad. We had a really rough...
- 37:03Speaker 3: I do want to.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Say, though, I mean, I admire your honesty about it.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And that is life and to reflect on it. And
- 37:12Speaker 1: I think it's interesting because I know a lot of
- 37:14Speaker 1: people do the live... Podcast shows and stuff. And I
- 37:18Speaker 1: have said, as someone who's a stand-up who brings another
- 37:21Speaker 1: stand-up with me to do it, I was like, what
- 37:25Speaker 1: are these other shows doing? Because I'm like, besides me, like.
- 37:29Speaker 1: like for like 12 hours before I'm putting in all
- 37:32Speaker 1: these hot topics and do all this stuff. And then I'm,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I'm saving juicy stories that I only will tell there.
- 37:36Speaker 1: And like, yeah, I do think I did a great job. Yeah. Um,
- 37:40Speaker 1: but I'm a perfectionist about it. Like I'm not a
- 37:42Speaker 1: perfectionist about my home. I'm not a super neat person.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I'm not like perfectionist about other cooking or anything, but
- 37:48Speaker 1: the show I am. So it's like, if you know, if, um,
- 37:52Speaker 1: if I wasn't happy, I would be, I'd be bummed.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I was happy in the end. I was very happy
- 37:57Speaker 1: with the result of it. But like, it is a
- 37:59Speaker 1: lot harder than people think.
- 38:01Speaker 3: It's so much work. And I really, it really like
- 38:04Speaker 3: just PSA to everyone that listens and loves a podcast. Podcasters, shockingly,
- 38:10Speaker 3: are just humans.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 38:12Speaker 3: I know it's revolutionary, but like we say shit that
- 38:15Speaker 3: comes out wrong and we maybe don't think it comes
- 38:17Speaker 3: out wrong in that moment. But then listening back like
- 38:18Speaker 3: three weeks later, you're like, oh, I don't know if
- 38:20Speaker 3: I should have said that. Or we also like need
- 38:22Speaker 3: sleep and we're not perfect. And like, maybe you didn't
- 38:25Speaker 3: like the psychic that we brought on. Like, Maybe you
- 38:27Speaker 3: don't like the color green when you made a sweatshirt
- 38:29Speaker 3: in green. Like, I'm sorry. I am a human being
- 38:32Speaker 3: on this planet. Like, we are doing our best. We are,
- 38:35Speaker 3: you know, like people, we have a segment on our
- 38:37Speaker 3: show called Good Week, Bad Week. And people will like
- 38:39Speaker 3: DM and be like, I heard your bad week. And
- 38:42Speaker 3: I just want to let you know that cucumbers are
- 38:45Speaker 3: not a vegetable. They're a fruit. I heard you talking
- 38:47Speaker 3: about like, I mean, not that, but like, just like
- 38:49Speaker 3: getting after us for the stupidest shit. And I was like, hi.
- 38:53Speaker 6: Hi.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I don't know how to be an adult. I'm trying
- 38:55Speaker 3: to keep myself alive. I can't even keep a plant alive.
- 38:57Speaker 3: That's why I don't have children. Like, done. You know, like,
- 39:00Speaker 3: let's just give me grace.
- 39:02Speaker 1: So what was the final show?
- 39:04Speaker 3: Where did you.
- 39:05Speaker 1: What was the final show?
- 39:06Speaker 3: We finished the show in.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Denver, Colorado, which we flew to.
- 39:11Speaker 1: At the end of September?
- 39:13Speaker 3: At the end of, in mid-November.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:16Speaker 3: So we had, Oh, so you did have a break.
- 39:18Speaker 3: We had bus, and then we had, yeah, those ones
- 39:20Speaker 3: were fine. We had bus, and then we had Phoenix, LA,
- 39:23Speaker 3: and Denver that we flew to like three weeks later. Oh,
- 39:25Speaker 3: you got rid of the bus. Yeah, we got rid
- 39:26Speaker 3: of the bus in Houston. Houston was our last bus show,
- 39:29Speaker 3: and it was, was like, literally you should have been
- 39:32Speaker 3: on the street after the show, everyone, because I was like,
- 39:35Speaker 3: do you need a rack for your clothing? Here you go.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Do you need like some bedding? Like I was just
- 39:41Speaker 3: giving away pillows off the bus. Cause I was like,
- 39:43Speaker 3: I planned this whole tour so perfectly down to a T.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Where are you staying? What are you doing? And then
- 39:47Speaker 3: we got to like three days before last date and
- 39:49Speaker 3: Becca looks at me and she goes, how are we
- 39:50Speaker 3: getting all this shit home? And I was like, I
- 39:53Speaker 3: actually never thought about that.
- 39:54Speaker 1: We need extra merch and stuff.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Everything that was left over, like the flower baskets and
- 39:58Speaker 3: the back. We had director's chairs.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Oh, because you brought like a set.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And we had it all delivered to Chicago for the
- 40:04Speaker 3: first show. And then we ended up in Houston. I
- 40:06Speaker 3: was like, how do I get this home? So I
- 40:07Speaker 3: had to hire a guy with a van to like
- 40:08Speaker 3: drive it for 47 hours. I have a giant vagina
- 40:12Speaker 3: chart because we did this like name that lady part
- 40:15Speaker 3: like game. So we pulled up this giant vaginas that
- 40:17Speaker 3: was named one through 15. And then we had three
- 40:19Speaker 3: straight guys come on stage. And, like, they get to
- 40:22Speaker 3: win merch if they could name things correctly, which, by
- 40:24Speaker 3: the way, nobody, literally nobody knows where anything but the
- 40:26Speaker 3: asshole is, which says so much about so many things. Anyway,
- 40:30Speaker 3: so we had this giant vagina, and we're like, I'm like,
- 40:33Speaker 3: how am I getting the giant vagina back to L.A.? Like,
- 40:35Speaker 3: you can't fly with a giant vagina. Anyway, so, I mean,
- 40:38Speaker 3: you probably could. We didn't.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I hired a guy.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Anyway, it was a disaster. I'm so glad it's over.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I've never had more tears. I've had so much therapy
- 40:45Speaker 3: about it. We're good now. Lady Gang will continue, but
- 40:47Speaker 3: I think the fans picked up on it because they're like, um,
- 40:51Speaker 3: And when I announced– I just went back to Entertainment News.
- 40:54Speaker 3: So I started on E! News just as a correspondent.
- 40:57Speaker 3: And people were like, does this mean what I think
- 40:59Speaker 3: it means? Lady Gang is over? And I was like, oh, shit.
- 41:01Speaker 3: They picked up on the tension. No, we're fine. Lady
- 41:04Speaker 3: Gang is fine. We're going to be okay.
- 41:08Speaker 1: So now the three of you get together and you
- 41:10Speaker 1: do one show a week?
- 41:12Speaker 3: We do two shows a week. And so we, sometimes
- 41:15Speaker 3: Becca lives in Austin now. She'll come to L.A. and
- 41:17Speaker 3: we'll sit in our studio and do a bunch of
- 41:18Speaker 3: episodes or we'll do them on Zoom, you know. And
- 41:20Speaker 3: we don't really have guests anymore. Like, we just kind
- 41:22Speaker 3: of do us. Every once in a while we'll have
- 41:24Speaker 3: a guest, which, by the way, you need to come on.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 41:28Speaker 3: So, you know, like every once in a while we'll
- 41:30Speaker 3: have someone if they're funny and great. But, like, we
- 41:31Speaker 3: just got burned by having, like, actors who are like,
- 41:33Speaker 3: I'm an actor. Just ask me about my acting. And
- 41:36Speaker 3: you're like, boring. So I would just rather have like
- 41:38Speaker 3: reality stars, bachelor people, like that kind of stuff.
- 41:41Speaker 1: A psychic.
- 41:42Speaker 3: We have a really good money episode coming out after
- 41:44Speaker 3: the holidays from this amazing TikToker called You're Rich BFF.
- 41:48Speaker 3: And she tells you all the things to do with
- 41:49Speaker 3: your money so that you can be rich.
- 41:51Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah.
- 41:52Speaker 3: That kind of stuff really helps.
- 41:52Speaker 1: That's a stuff that's like really important. And especially for
- 41:55Speaker 1: women and in a way that women can understand.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 1: You know? Yes, we do a lot of that. Because
- 41:59Speaker 1: it's like the amount of times that someone's boyfriend tried
- 42:01Speaker 1: to explain the stock market or crypto to you and
- 42:03Speaker 1: you just are like... Yeah. But... If you can get someone.
- 42:07Speaker 3: To– I'm like, hey, get this credit card because in
- 42:09Speaker 3: one year you'll have enough points to fly to Tahiti.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Like that's what I need to know.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Like actually my son, he's 20 and he is a
- 42:15Speaker 1: finance major and he explains stuff better than my husband
- 42:19Speaker 1: can to me. And so he's like, mom, this is
- 42:22Speaker 1: why you should do this. And, you know, he's like, well,
- 42:24Speaker 1: you could do– you could invest this yourself. I go, well,
- 42:26Speaker 1: why don't you just do it? Yeah. I'm like, I
- 42:29Speaker 1: trust you more. Like, at least I know it's not
- 42:30Speaker 1: going to go like it's not going to disappear. It
- 42:33Speaker 1: doesn't make that much money. Who cares? But like, fine,
- 42:36Speaker 1: if you want to really take this little chunk of
- 42:38Speaker 1: money and see what you can do with it. And,
- 42:41Speaker 1: you know, because it doesn't. It like never really interests
- 42:44Speaker 1: me and it's always kind of scares me. It's so scary.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I know that it's important. So I love that. Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Tell me about your other show that you created. This
- 42:52Speaker 1: is exciting.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I'm just doing lots of things.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Tell me about Superfan. Is it available to watch now? No.
- 42:57Speaker 3: So Superfan is a show format that I created. I
- 42:59Speaker 3: sold it with my partner Jodi a couple years ago
- 43:02Speaker 3: to CBS. We filmed it in April. It's going to
- 43:04Speaker 3: air right– actually, wait. I can't tell you when it's
- 43:07Speaker 3: going to air. It's going to air– Early 2023.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Okay, great. On CBS?
- 43:12Speaker 3: On CBS, primetime. And it's a music series. We have
- 43:16Speaker 3: six episodes. And my husband's music manager. And if I
- 43:19Speaker 3: had any talent, I would be in a band, 100%.
- 43:23Speaker 3: My only talent was sleeping with guys in bands. But
- 43:26Speaker 3: I have no musical talent, and I'm tone deaf. But
- 43:28Speaker 3: I've always wanted to live that band lifestyle, hence why
- 43:30Speaker 3: we got the tour bus. So it's called Superfan.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Wait, I also want to say, if you were to
- 43:34Speaker 1: go back... Was the tour bus not a wise idea?
- 43:38Speaker 1: Would it have been better if you guys would have
- 43:40Speaker 1: flown just to hotels?
- 43:42Speaker 3: What we should have done is hired someone to drive
- 43:45Speaker 3: the trailer to each city and we should have flown
- 43:48Speaker 3: and been in nice hotels because it's like, You can't
- 43:50Speaker 3: poop on a tour bus. I pooped my pants on
- 43:51Speaker 3: like the third day of tour. It was disgusting. Heather,
- 43:54Speaker 3: your face.
- 43:54Speaker 1: No.
- 43:54Speaker 3: For real?
- 43:55Speaker 5: Yes.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Like a load in your underwear.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I'm not supposed to eat gluten. And we were in
- 44:00Speaker 3: fucking somewhere in Ohio. There was nothing but a Jimmy John's.
- 44:04Speaker 3: We all ate sandwiches. I was like, I know that
- 44:06Speaker 3: my stomach's going to get upset, but I didn't know
- 44:07Speaker 3: how upset. And we were wearing these pink sweatsuits. And
- 44:12Speaker 3: Jack made three pink sweatsuits just for the three lady gang.
- 44:15Speaker 3: We did black for like everyone else that wanted to
- 44:17Speaker 3: buy them.
- 44:17Speaker 1: We're in black.
- 44:17Speaker 3: So we had three special sweatsuits. And I was like,
- 44:19Speaker 3: we're trying to go to Target or something to get something.
- 44:21Speaker 3: And I was like, can we hurry up? Jax takes
- 44:23Speaker 3: so long to get ready. She's never ready on time.
- 44:26Speaker 3: But can we go? I'm going to poop my pants.
- 44:27Speaker 3: And then I was like, no, I am going to
- 44:28Speaker 3: poop my pants. I walked out. I picked up a
- 44:30Speaker 3: cardboard box from beside the trailer. And I ran into
- 44:33Speaker 3: the corner. But I didn't make it in time. I
- 44:34Speaker 3: pooped all over my sweatpants. I had to take them off.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Becca videoed me the whole time. She played it at
- 44:39Speaker 3: the shows for everyone to watch. And it was fucking terrible.
- 44:43Speaker 1: That's the lemonade out of the lemons.
- 44:45Speaker 7: Anyway.
- 44:46Speaker 1: That's the cherry on the shit ice cream.
- 44:48Speaker 3: It really is.
- 44:48Speaker 1: They got a little something out of it.
- 44:50Speaker 3: So anyway, Superfan is, CBS don't listen to that part.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Superfan is like essentially, so the show essentially is like
- 44:56Speaker 3: Shania Twain. I'm the biggest Shania Twain fan. I grew
- 44:58Speaker 3: up in Canada. Shania Twain comes on. She's on the show.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Five of her biggest fans, we've scoured the country, and
- 45:04Speaker 3: they all compete to be named the number one superfan
- 45:06Speaker 3: of Shania Twain through musical challenges, through trivia, through guessing
- 45:09Speaker 3: what Shania would do in a situation. Shania performs. The
- 45:12Speaker 3: fans do an epic lip sync. America votes and then
- 45:17Speaker 3: we crown the number one super fan and the super
- 45:18Speaker 3: fan gets this like once in a lifetime thing. Like
- 45:20Speaker 3: we had Gloria Estefan on the show who's incredible and
- 45:23Speaker 3: just like I want her to be my mom. Her
- 45:26Speaker 3: prize is like all this stuff. You get the conga
- 45:28Speaker 3: from the conga video. You get this like giant portrait
- 45:31Speaker 3: and then you get to like go to her house.
- 45:32Speaker 3: She's like you're going to come to Miami. You're going
- 45:34Speaker 3: to come to my house. You can pick which house.
- 45:37Speaker 1: She's got two. Right on the water, yeah.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Vero Beach or Miami Beach. Come to my house. I'm
- 45:41Speaker 3: going to cook you dinner. You're going to have dinner
- 45:42Speaker 3: with the whole family. So the prizes are like LL
- 45:45Speaker 3: Cool J's on it.
- 45:45Speaker 1: The prizes are really for a super fan.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Everything you'd want.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:49Speaker 3: The experience. LL Cool J's like, I'm going to pick
- 45:52Speaker 3: you up in LA in one of my cars. We're
- 45:54Speaker 3: going to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. I'm going
- 45:56Speaker 3: to play you track by track my new album before
- 45:59Speaker 3: anyone else hears it. And I'm going to tell you
- 46:00Speaker 3: the story behind each song. Now, do the cameras follow
- 46:02Speaker 3: that or no?
- 46:03Speaker 1: They will. OK.
- 46:04Speaker 3: But eventually. But we're not airing yet. So when they air,
- 46:07Speaker 3: we definitely and then there'll be a little update in
- 46:11Speaker 3: the next season.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I love that.
- 46:13Speaker 3: This one I have a good feeling about a season two.
- 46:15Speaker 1: And then when does Superfan podcast version come out?
- 46:19Speaker 3: I mean, that's such a good idea, Heather. Would you,
- 46:21Speaker 3: do you have time in your life to maybe produce
- 46:23Speaker 3: that out?
- 46:24Speaker 2: Sure.
- 46:24Speaker 3: You know, make that a thing. I have enough jobs.
- 46:28Speaker 3: So I had no jobs.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:29Speaker 3: And then I was like, oh, I better get creative
- 46:30Speaker 3: and make some jobs. So now I have too many
- 46:33Speaker 3: jobs again, which is what I like, but it also
- 46:35Speaker 3: feeds my mania. So I have to like maybe calm
- 46:38Speaker 3: down a little bit. So I'm going to have no
- 46:41Speaker 3: new jobs.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Okay. I don't think it would actually work, to be honest.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And not for TV. It could be a fun thing
- 46:50Speaker 1: to do if YouTube wanted to do it. It would
- 46:53Speaker 1: have to be a platform that Has podcast consumers on it.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 46:59Speaker 1: And I don't think that's regular TV.
- 47:01Speaker 6: Right.
- 47:01Speaker 1: But I think Facebook Live or YouTube, listen to me,
- 47:05Speaker 1: I think it would be good for them.
- 47:07Speaker 3: It would be really cute.
- 47:07Speaker 1: To do it. And then, you know, and you have like,
- 47:11Speaker 1: you know, the Burt Kreischer. You have the Lady Gang.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Right.
- 47:14Speaker 1: You guys. You have someone for me.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:16Speaker 1: You have a crime person.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Crime junkie.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Or the My Favorite Murderer.
- 47:20Speaker 3: You have the smartest guys.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Yeah. Exactly.
- 47:21Speaker 3: The smartest guys.
- 47:22Speaker 1: And you have like 10 of them, Dax Shepard, whatever.
- 47:25Speaker 3: That would be really cute.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:28Speaker 3: It's a really fun format. And actually like my highlight
- 47:32Speaker 3: of my year was that I got to go to
- 47:34Speaker 3: this thing called MIPCOM in France is where you go
- 47:37Speaker 3: when you have a show format and you get to
- 47:39Speaker 3: sell it all over the world. So I get to
- 47:40Speaker 3: sit for two days and I met with like every
- 47:42Speaker 3: country in the world and their television stations. And we
- 47:46Speaker 3: already sold Superfan in two countries and have a third
- 47:49Speaker 3: on the way. So they'll be like Superfan Italy, Superfan Greece,
- 47:53Speaker 3: Superfan Australia. And so for me, I'm really only making
- 47:56Speaker 3: shows that are formats because that allegedly is how you
- 47:59Speaker 3: get rich.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 3: So I'm like when people are like, we should do
- 48:02Speaker 3: reality shows.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I was like, no, no, no.
- 48:03Speaker 3: How can we make this a competition show that also
- 48:05Speaker 3: works in India?
- 48:07Speaker 1: In Ireland.
- 48:08Speaker 3: You know what I mean? So that's my new goal.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Good for you. You're smart, girl. Now, when you have
- 48:15Speaker 1: these other huge successes that could possibly happen to you,
- 48:19Speaker 1: is there ever a part of you that's like, there
- 48:22Speaker 1: may come a time where I'm like... Out of Lady Gang?
- 48:26Speaker 1: I'm done with Lady Gang. Or do you make a
- 48:29Speaker 1: commitment to each other as a throuple podcasting trio? We
- 48:33Speaker 1: will never... stop doing lady gang, no matter how many
- 48:37Speaker 1: kids someone has, no matter how many millions another person
- 48:41Speaker 1: has will never stop. Or does each year or two,
- 48:45Speaker 1: like you guys have a sit down and like, say,
- 48:48Speaker 1: what are our goals? Do you have anything like that? I.
- 48:51Speaker 3: It's such a good question and I will bring it
- 48:54Speaker 3: up in therapy tomorrow. Thank you for prefacing that. I, I,
- 48:59Speaker 3: I don't know. I, I, I think there's an end
- 49:04Speaker 3: for everything, but I don't feel like we're anywhere close
- 49:07Speaker 3: to it. And my whole thing is like, I just
- 49:10Speaker 3: turned 40 and I'm like, I really have this goal
- 49:13Speaker 3: for myself. That's like freedom 45. Like I, I see
- 49:14Speaker 3: myself at 45, like having these formats. working around the
- 49:20Speaker 3: world having the podcast and like not being on television
- 49:23Speaker 3: I would like to get a neck lift like I
- 49:25Speaker 3: would like to like hide in. take my husband to
- 49:27Speaker 3: an island and like live far away from people and
- 49:29Speaker 3: just have goats and like raise my own animals and
- 49:31Speaker 3: things like that. So like podcasting is the thing you
- 49:34Speaker 3: can do from anywhere.
- 49:35Speaker 7: Right.
- 49:35Speaker 3: So you'd be stupid to give that up because TV
- 49:37Speaker 3: is so fickle. There's like seasons where you can't get
- 49:40Speaker 3: anything made on TV. And then there's seasons where you're like,
- 49:42Speaker 3: Oh wow, look at all these networks that are mad
- 49:43Speaker 3: that I'm on the other network. Like that's a blessing,
- 49:46Speaker 3: you know?
- 49:46Speaker 1: And also if there's another, um, pandemic. Right.
- 49:50Speaker 3: It's like, I mean, nothing was better than being a
- 49:52Speaker 3: podcaster in the pandemic.
- 49:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:54Speaker 3: That Coca-Cola money, people are pulling out of television, giving
- 49:57Speaker 3: it to the podcast. Yeah. But, you know, I just,
- 49:59Speaker 3: I don't think we're there yet. I think this 2023
- 50:02Speaker 3: is going to be a year where we really pull back.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Do you think you'll ever go on tour again with
- 50:07Speaker 1: the Lady Gang?
- 50:08Speaker 3: I never want to go on tour again. I'm never
- 50:13Speaker 3: writing another book, and I will never tour again. But
- 50:16Speaker 3: I would do what you did. Like, I'd do fly-out
- 50:18Speaker 3: dates and, like, go one, two. But it's just like...
- 50:22Speaker 3: I actually hate people. Like I don't like even being
- 50:24Speaker 3: around other people. I don't, my husband is like basically mute,
- 50:27Speaker 3: which is why we've stayed married. Like I don't like
- 50:30Speaker 3: being around people. So being around people 24 seven was
- 50:32Speaker 3: like really hard for me.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:35Speaker 3: So I don't like, I mean, I like the fans
- 50:37Speaker 3: and I like meeting them, but that's also like, Oh
- 50:39Speaker 3: my God, what if I'm disappointing? What if I don't smile?
- 50:41Speaker 3: What if I look tired? What if I'm yawning? Like,
- 50:43Speaker 3: you know, I don't want to yawn when I meet
- 50:45Speaker 3: someone and then go home and I'll count the yawn.
- 50:47Speaker 3: So much pressure.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Now, um, You mentioned Shawn Mendes.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Oh, Mendes. Shawn Mendes. Well, I was talking about touring.
- 50:57Speaker 3: So it's very cool that you were doing double shows
- 51:02Speaker 3: in cities and stuff because no one can sell a
- 51:04Speaker 3: ticket right now. Taylor Swift is basically the only person
- 51:08Speaker 3: that can sell a ticket. I know firsthand there was
- 51:12Speaker 3: a client that a friend of mine worked with very closely,
- 51:16Speaker 3: a huge major artist that has hit songs on the radio,
- 51:19Speaker 3: and they put up a show at an arena in
- 51:21Speaker 3: And it sold five tickets. Like the first 24 hours
- 51:24Speaker 3: when you put up a show are like you're literally
- 51:27Speaker 3: an arena for five, five tickets. And they had to
- 51:29Speaker 3: cancel the show like an arena, like what you thought
- 51:33Speaker 3: an arena tour would do. Like, I mean, I think
- 51:35Speaker 3: it wasn't an arena like the Bombers, but it was like,
- 51:37Speaker 3: you know, one of those hometown Charlotte arenas or whatever.
- 51:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Ten thousand. And and because I was crying all the time,
- 51:45Speaker 3: like about our tour tickets selling like, you know, because
- 51:47Speaker 3: not every city was a home run. And, uh, and
- 51:50Speaker 3: I'd be like, oh my God, I'm such a failure.
- 51:51Speaker 3: And my husband who works in the music business was like,
- 51:53Speaker 3: let me tell you a story about a tour that
- 51:55Speaker 3: we just had go out and like five tickets and
- 51:57Speaker 3: had to cancel. And that made, did make me feel better.
- 51:59Speaker 3: I mean, is it true? Maybe he was lying probably,
- 52:01Speaker 3: but just the ability to sell tickets is so hard.
- 52:04Speaker 3: And I was saying Shawn Mendes canceled his tour and like, listen,
- 52:07Speaker 3: I'm a huge mental health advocate. My brother is bipolar
- 52:10Speaker 3: and I've talked a lot about this on the podcast
- 52:12Speaker 3: and my struggle with him throughout my whole life. And like,
- 52:15Speaker 3: And if it was for mental illness, I believe that.
- 52:18Speaker 3: But I do believe a lot of these tours are
- 52:19Speaker 3: getting canceled just because people can't sell tickets. Maybe mixed
- 52:22Speaker 3: with the stress of that because that's got to be
- 52:25Speaker 3: really hard on your mental illness. But everyone went on
- 52:27Speaker 3: tour this fall, and there's only so much money in
- 52:29Speaker 3: people's pockets and nights available during the week to go
- 52:32Speaker 3: see a show.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I do think that's true. And then– so I
- 52:37Speaker 1: just saw something. I don't know if it's true because
- 52:39Speaker 1: somebody sent it to me, and it was like a
- 52:41Speaker 1: weird– Publication I heard of. Yeah. But that Shawn Mendes
- 52:45Speaker 1: is dating his female chiropractor.
- 52:47Speaker 3: I saw that too.
- 52:49Speaker 1: I just love. That's just such a weird story. First
- 52:52Speaker 1: of all, I'm one of my kinks. Yeah. Which I
- 52:56Speaker 1: don't think it's been diagnosed as a kink, but I
- 52:59Speaker 1: think it should. It's watching chiropractic videos.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Wow.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I mean, I'll settle in and I will watch like. 10,
- 53:12Speaker 1: 15 minutes. Wow.
- 53:15Speaker 3: It doesn't freak you out?
- 53:17Speaker 1: No, but I.
- 53:18Speaker 3: It's like the Dr. Pimple Popper for you.
- 53:20Speaker 1: But I don't... Yeah, I don't like pimple popping. Yeah.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I like just.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Do you go to the chiropractor? I....
- 53:28Speaker 1: My other... But my... As much as I love to
- 53:30Speaker 1: watch a chiropractic video, I have a fear of being...
- 53:34Speaker 1: My biggest fear in life is being a quadriplegic or
- 53:37Speaker 1: being paralyzed. Okay.
- 53:39Speaker 2: So.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I kind of don't want to fuck with it as
- 53:42Speaker 1: much as I love it, love watching it. I went
- 53:46Speaker 1: to it once about a year and a half ago
- 53:48Speaker 1: to my favorite chiropractor watching videos. He's really cute, OC chiropractor. Okay.
- 53:54Speaker 1: And he did a great job.
- 53:56Speaker 3: You're scared? Did you get paralyzed from the chiropractor?
- 54:01Speaker 1: Believe me, there's a story or two out there. Okay, sure, sure, sure.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Not from the OC chiropractor, not from anybody.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And I mean, more like I want to ask him,
- 54:11Speaker 1: Do you, like, how do you know what to do? Like,
- 54:13Speaker 1: do you feel on your fingertip like a pop? Like,
- 54:15Speaker 1: I more, like, want to know, how do you know?
- 54:17Speaker 1: Because I have also self, grew up self-cracking, okay? Self-cracking,
- 54:23Speaker 1: there's a word for it.
- 54:24Speaker 3: Like, I could self-crack.
- 54:25Speaker 7: Oh, wow.
- 54:26Speaker 1: And then when my kids were little.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd crack them.
- 54:29Speaker 1: I would crack them. Fun. And then one day, one
- 54:34Speaker 1: of them was like, I don't want to do that
- 54:35Speaker 1: weird thing that we do anymore. And it felt, like, very, like,
- 54:38Speaker 1: weird to me. Yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 3: I don't want to do that thing we're doing anymore, mommy.
- 54:42Speaker 1: But they can do it. Like they can go like,
- 54:44Speaker 1: I have two boys and they can do like that.
- 54:46Speaker 1: And I'm so jealous because I can't do my neck
- 54:48Speaker 1: or anything. But anyway, I could see how you could
- 54:52Speaker 1: be attracted to your chiropractor is my point. But it's
- 54:55Speaker 1: kind of a physical thing.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's intimate.
- 54:58Speaker 1: And someone's like, you know, if this was like a
- 55:02Speaker 1: 35-year-old male chiropractor and a 26-year-old female or whatever, not
- 55:08Speaker 1: that it was like a big age difference. And then
- 55:10Speaker 1: they started dating. People would be like, was this grooming?
- 55:13Speaker 1: What did this sick fuck try to do? Like, it's
- 55:15Speaker 1: just so funny when it's the other way around. And
- 55:17Speaker 1: then also people don't think that he's entirely straight.
- 55:20Speaker 3: So they thought that was interesting. I, Shawn Mendes is,
- 55:24Speaker 3: and I just want to say this for everyone. I've
- 55:25Speaker 3: met him and interviewed him many times. He's lovely. And he's,
- 55:29Speaker 3: he truly is just Canadian. He's, and I mean that
- 55:32Speaker 3: with love. Like, listen, I don't know.
- 55:34Speaker 1: That is so funny. That could be your new game show.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Is he gay or just Canadian?
- 55:39Speaker 3: Yeah. I, I think it's like, I think it's like,
- 55:42Speaker 3: I mean, it's not my business, but whether he is
- 55:45Speaker 3: or is, is he isn't, but like I grew up
- 55:49Speaker 3: in Northern Canada. And so I, I understand like the
- 55:53Speaker 3: kindness and softness that comes with, you're either like a
- 55:57Speaker 3: fucking hockey player or you're Shawn Mendes growing up in the,
- 56:00Speaker 3: you're in band. Like I've dated those guys. Like you're just,
- 56:03Speaker 3: you're just, artsy and it's like so weird like my
- 56:08Speaker 3: best friend Jeff is kind of similar and he's just
- 56:10Speaker 3: so nice and he's just like when you see him
- 56:12Speaker 3: on the carpet he's like hi how are you doing
- 56:15Speaker 3: and you're like oh and you're like you know you're
- 56:16Speaker 3: used to like two chains rolling up and like grunting
- 56:18Speaker 3: at you you know what I mean so it's like
- 56:20Speaker 3: I don't know I think he's just lovely but I
- 56:23Speaker 3: think that if he's getting it on with a chiropractor
- 56:26Speaker 3: I will say it's the right ages because isn't if
- 56:28Speaker 3: she's that age I don't know what age she is
- 56:30Speaker 3: yeah I mean she looked cute there's a photo of
- 56:33Speaker 3: her cracking him And so I don't know. Can you
- 56:38Speaker 3: look up their age? When you're that famous, there's no
- 56:41Speaker 3: one around you. I was actually just in Mexico City
- 56:44Speaker 3: a few weeks ago and with my husband with one
- 56:46Speaker 3: of his clients and he played a festival for like 100,000
- 56:50Speaker 3: people in the middle of Mexico City.
- 56:51Speaker 1: It was massive.
- 56:52Speaker 3: And he's a huge artist. And it's really crazy because like.
- 56:56Speaker 3: It's very much that scene in the Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga,
- 56:59Speaker 3: Star is Born when Bradley finishes the concert and they
- 57:01Speaker 3: put him in the black car and then he's all
- 57:03Speaker 3: alone and it's silent.
- 57:04Speaker 1: He's 24 and she's 50.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Okay. That's a lot. Wait, what?
- 57:09Speaker 6: 24?
- 57:09Speaker 1: And she's 50? Mm-hmm.
- 57:10Speaker 4: 50.
- 57:12Speaker 3: I'm 50 years old. Remember that?
- 57:15Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Let me crack my back just now
- 57:17Speaker 1: thinking about it. What?
- 57:18Speaker 3: I feel like this can't be true. Anyway, point being
- 57:22Speaker 3: is that when you're that famous, you're very isolated. You
- 57:25Speaker 3: spend a lot of time alone in hotels to the car,
- 57:28Speaker 3: to the bus, to the car, to the hotel, to
- 57:29Speaker 3: the plane. And you're like, it's just your little entourage
- 57:32Speaker 3: around you. It's very difficult to meet new people unless
- 57:35Speaker 3: you're having some handler of yours be like, go find
- 57:37Speaker 3: me a girl in the audience tonight. Because you can't
- 57:40Speaker 3: get with fans. They're going to tell everyone. So it's
- 57:42Speaker 3: like you get limited on like, It has to be
- 57:45Speaker 3: another star set up by your publicist or your DMs.
- 57:47Speaker 3: Or if you're Sean and you're just like a nice guy,
- 57:50Speaker 3: who are you meeting? You're meeting the people that are
- 57:52Speaker 3: doing your catering, your stylist, assistant, and the chiropractor. Like,
- 57:57Speaker 3: it makes sense to me.
- 57:58Speaker 6: I have.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Okay, so your new job at E. Yeah. Will you...
- 58:04Speaker 1: You're not doing red carpet anymore. You are.
- 58:06Speaker 3: I am.
- 58:06Speaker 1: For, like, Oscars. You'll be there. Yeah.
- 58:08Speaker 3: So I'm doing– it's really cool. I took this position
- 58:12Speaker 3: and they were like, what do you want to call yourself?
- 58:13Speaker 1: I'm like, chief correspondent.
- 58:15Speaker 3: And as the chief correspondent, I get to decide which–
- 58:18Speaker 3: so basically, like, I get a month's schedule of, like,
- 58:20Speaker 3: who's coming to town, who's doing press. And then I
- 58:22Speaker 3: can say, oh, like, I want to do this Will
- 58:24Speaker 3: Smith event. I want to do this Harrison Ford event.
- 58:26Speaker 3: I want to do this sit-down with Mandy Moore. Like,
- 58:28Speaker 3: I can pick which interviews I would like to do
- 58:31Speaker 3: and then– pass on like the Dancing with the Stars
- 58:34Speaker 3: red carpet no offense to Dancing with the Stars I'm
- 58:36Speaker 3: good you're just a little over that I've done it
- 58:39Speaker 3: I did it for 10 years like it's just not
- 58:41Speaker 3: I want to sit down with like I want it.
- 58:43Speaker 7: To really be and ask real questions and like yeah
- 58:45Speaker 7: have a minute have like a moment you know hard
- 58:47Speaker 7: to watch sometimes I think really nobody really gets cancelled
- 58:51Speaker 7: unless there's like actual like prison time and even then
- 58:54Speaker 7: it has to be for something pretty heinous and it
- 58:58Speaker 7: has to be for pretty long for you not to
- 59:00Speaker 7: come back They all, everyone seems to come back. I
- 59:03Speaker 7: think all this cancellation stuff was like a bunch of
- 59:06Speaker 7: bullshit because everyone comes back.
- 59:09Speaker 1: And, um, and then except for like a Matt Lauer
- 59:13Speaker 1: and with a Matt Lauer. No offense, Matt Lauer, you're
- 59:17Speaker 1: totally replaceable. Well, that's the thing. You're not a musician
- 59:21Speaker 1: that writes incredible songs that we all sing and dance
- 59:24Speaker 1: to for the last 30 years. You're not an incredible
- 59:28Speaker 1: actor like a Will Smith that just can, like, you know,
- 59:30Speaker 1: you see a scene and you instantly cry because he's
- 59:34Speaker 1: so good at his craft. You were a decent-looking guy
- 59:38Speaker 1: that had, I believe, I think morning and daytime TV
- 59:43Speaker 1: is an easy job. I think it's a pretty fucking
- 59:45Speaker 1: easy job of out of the jobs that are there.
- 59:48Speaker 1: And it, right. And so when it became this and
- 59:52Speaker 1: at the height of the time and everything, it was like, goodbye,
- 59:55Speaker 1: no one's going to not watch our show because Matt
- 59:57Speaker 1: Lauer is gone. He's of a man of a certain age,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: all of that. So I think people like that probably
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: will never come back to any capacity. Could he start
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a podcast out of the Hamptons? Sure. People might listen.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I don't think he should bother. Right. Cause I don't
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: think people will want to come on and be interviewed
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: by him.
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Enjoy your money, do something else with your time, be
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: a grandpa, whatever. It's kind of like the Chris Harrison
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: of it all. You know, it's like, okay, I'm canceled.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I'm not going to like try to yet. I mean,
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: maybe it's too soon. I'm not trying to like do
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: my redemption tour and host another show or start a
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: podcast or whatever it is. I'm just going to sit
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: here with all my money.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Let it sit.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: You got a lot of money.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Enjoy that money.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: You know, I've met him several times and I kind
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: of think his situation was, a very much of a
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: sign of the times and a little like an unfortunate
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: situation that he put himself in. He wasn't even supposed
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: to do that interview.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: And, and the whole thing, guys. So you're just like,
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: and he didn't know.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: And he was, he's a dad. He had kids in college.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: It like, again, came on the, a day where you're like,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: you know what? I am going to tell the truth.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I am going to say how I really feel. It's like,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: and it was just at that time. And then, um,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: But I think it's all fine. And I think if
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: he does come back with something, fine. But he may
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: not want to. Right. Like, that was a lot of
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: time and travel. He had to go to Europe. He
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: had to go to all these places. And now he's...
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I don't know if he's... He's engaged.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: He's engaged.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I don't know if he's married, but I've met her
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: and she's great. Lauren's awesome. And his ex-wife is great. Like,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: they all get along.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: The kids all get along. Everything's good. Like, the kids
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: are good. And good.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: Like.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: If I was him, I'd be like, who cares? Like,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: just do your thing. Right. And then if in, like,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: a couple years you want to do something that maybe
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: is in the same line of, like, maybe doing something
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: dating with older people, I don't know if that would
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: ever be a hit, if people would want to watch that. But, like,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: definitely I think The Bachelor as a show is definitely
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: not as popular because that wasn't the only change. You know,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: they tried to do a lot of other changes. They
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: had a bisexual girl come and, You know, they're trying
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to do this thing.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: The two at one time.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Trying to get to this time. Yeah, the two bachelorettes.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: And they're trying to, like, change it up and everything.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: And so I think, like, I don't know. It's still
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: probably a big enough hit that you wouldn't want to
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: get rid of it.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: And I don't think it's such an expensive show, like,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: with a million actors. But it definitely doesn't have the spark.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: And I feel like the people that were super into it,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: that stuck with it, like me. Yeah. Like, I was
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: already married the first season. And I watched it and
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: talked about it the whole time. And just recently. And
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I was even on it. That was probably the last
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: season I was on. I was on, what's her name? Katie's.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I was on Katie's season. And that was a COVID season.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: And we were in this resort that was, like, not
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: extremely attractive. Anyway. So I watched it because of that.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: But I really haven't watched it since.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: And I don't feel like people in my world are
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: watching it either. Like, I don't feel like many people
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: are talking.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I feel like people switched over to Housewives. We got
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: more Housewives and now we're just living in Housewives.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Yeah. And I'm like, yeah. And then I thought, what
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: about all these people that went on Bachelor as you
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: had to get a jumpstart of a career, which I
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: don't think it's a bad idea. Yeah. I feel like
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: that has... It's over, too. That's over, too. And all
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: those people got podcasts and I feel like the only
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: people that are surviving... It's like.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Caitlyn and Nick Viall.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Caitlyn and Nick Viall. Maybe there's a couple. Yeah. Like, um,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Ashley and her husband, they kind of have their thing cooking.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: And then there's maybe like, but I really don't know
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: of anybody else that's like, there were so many I
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: heart ones and so many combos of people and like,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: what else are you talking about? And, and then they
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: do the paradise and it's like, there's just so many
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: of them that's like, yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: It's too much.
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: It's too much. And, you know, it was back in
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: the day when I went on, it was 16 years ago.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: And I had an agent that was like, if you
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: want to get into television, you have to go on
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: The Bachelor.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I was like, great.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: I will do whatever I'm told. And at that time,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: it was like Ali Fedotowsky had like built her big
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: career and all these people like it was really a
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: thing that could happen. And now I think they become
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: influencers on Instagram, which no shame on that game because
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: you can make a fuck ton of money. But it's
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: just really hard. It's hard, like I was saying before,
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: it's hard to slice, cut through in any genre right
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: now because there's so much content and everyone's so niche.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Saturated.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Not everyone has to watch this thing at this time
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: on television. They can be like, I don't even want
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: to have a TV. I only want to read maps.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Fine.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Read a vintage map as your hobby line.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: It's like you can do whatever you want, even if
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: it's weird, you know? Like, I'm just going to do
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: the small things TikToks. Like, all I'm going to do
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: is watch tiny little mini... Plates of food in many
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: houses on TikTok. Like, that's a whole thing.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: You're watching chiropractic videos.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: You know what I mean? I didn't even know that
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: was possible.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Like, what a fucking weirdo. Yeah. Well, I agree.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Like, I'm sure chiropractic OC is, like, really happy. He
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: has more followers now, and he's probably like, oh, shit,
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: I'm crushing it.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and cracking it. Anyway, I so enjoyed you. Thank
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: you for the honesty. Tell everybody where they can find everything.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Well, I'd love. If you don't listen to Lady Gang,
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: hop on over to Lady Gang. We have new episodes
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: every Tuesday and Thursday. And I'm just at Kelty on
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: social media. And I'm mediocre. So come on over and
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: hang out with my mediocre-ness. But the podcast is really good.
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: We all like to think we've got a good eye
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: for a winning move. But when it comes to property,
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: it's about seeing the bigger picture. More space. A shorter commute.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Somewhere near the sea.
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: On daft.ie, you can explore standout homes for sale across
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: South Dublin. From Ranelagh to Rathfarnham. Stillorgan to Sandy Cove.
