- 1:31Speaker 2: of the Seen and Heard podcast. Drawing from both her
- 1:34Speaker 2: professional work and her own experience leaving an emotionally abusive marriage,
- 1:40Speaker 2: Sammy helps women recognize toxic relationship patterns, rebuild self-trust, rediscover
- 1:46Speaker 2: their identities, and create lives rooted in peace and authenticity.
- 1:51Speaker 2: She is the author of Unseen and Unheard, and founder
- 1:54Speaker 2: of Sammy Rose Coaching. Through coaching, writing, speaking, and storytelling,
- 1:58Speaker 2: Sammy reminds women that choosing yourself isn't the end of
- 2:02Speaker 2: your story. It can be and is the beginning of
- 2:05Speaker 2: finally writing your own. Thank you so much for sharing,
- 2:12Speaker 2: even just through that, that you've written about yourself so
- 2:14Speaker 2: openly and vulnerably.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you so much for having me.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you're so welcome. I feel like, My heart just opened,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, introducing you to the audience. And I imagine
- 2:28Speaker 2: that our listeners also are like really listening now with
- 2:32Speaker 2: their hearts and their ears. Yeah. Tell us, let's start
- 2:37Speaker 2: by just tell us a little more about your story.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I feel so vulnerable to hear.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 3: So my story, it starts off, you know, in childhood
- 2:49Speaker 3: where I, grew up with a very narcissistic father and
- 2:55Speaker 3: parents that got divorced very young. And so when I
- 3:02Speaker 3: was growing up and I was a teenager, I just
- 3:05Speaker 3: constantly felt like I wasn't seen, like I wasn't heard,
- 3:09Speaker 3: especially by my dad. And I so desperately wanted to
- 3:13Speaker 3: for there to be somebody that could validate that I
- 3:17Speaker 3: was enough, that I was worthy of love. And so
- 3:22Speaker 3: I spent a good chunk of my life seeking that
- 3:26Speaker 3: out in other people. And that led me to a
- 3:31Speaker 3: lot of really heartbreaking experiences. I got involved with older
- 3:37Speaker 3: men when I was 13 years old. And I can
- 3:40Speaker 3: look back at that now and understand that that was
- 3:43Speaker 3: grooming and that there were things like that that were
- 3:46Speaker 3: going on where I was taken advantage of. But at
- 3:49Speaker 3: the time, I was just so desperate for somebody to
- 3:54Speaker 3: love me and somebody to prove that I was worthy
- 3:57Speaker 3: of that, that I would accept anything wherever it came from.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I had a very strained relationship with my father. It
- 4:07Speaker 3: was just constant fighting, yelling him in and out of
- 4:11Speaker 3: my life and dealing with a lot of toxicity there.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But when I was graduating high school, some things happened
- 4:22Speaker 3: that made it difficult for me to go to college
- 4:25Speaker 3: because my parents didn't have the money and I couldn't
- 4:28Speaker 3: get enough of a scholarship or enough student loans to
- 4:33Speaker 3: cover it. And so my dad kind of took that
- 4:36Speaker 3: as an opportunity to kind of get back into my
- 4:39Speaker 3: life and invite me to come and live with him.
- 4:42Speaker 3: And the reason that I was... willing to do that
- 4:47Speaker 3: was because I had gotten involved with a church with
- 4:50Speaker 3: my best friend and started going to youth group and
- 4:53Speaker 3: things like that. And so my dad had started going
- 4:57Speaker 3: to church and I thought, okay, yeah, maybe this would
- 4:59Speaker 3: be really good for me to end up, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: in like a nice Christian household going to church. But
- 5:07Speaker 3: what it became was even more toxic than things had
- 5:11Speaker 3: been before. Because my dad was part of a very
- 5:15Speaker 3: authority centered church where men were the authority and women
- 5:22Speaker 3: were the helpers. And so I got kind of wrapped
- 5:26Speaker 3: up in that and actually met a guy who. in
- 5:30Speaker 3: youth group when I was 18, 19 years old. And
- 5:35Speaker 3: we were dating. And I remember I was getting ready
- 5:38Speaker 3: to actually like break up with him. I was thinking like,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I don't know if this is for me. And I
- 5:44Speaker 3: remember having a conversation with my father and telling him that.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And he said to me, well, you're just letting your
- 5:51Speaker 3: anxiety get the best of you. you are gonna end
- 5:55Speaker 3: up passing up on an opportunity to be with somebody
- 5:58Speaker 3: that's gonna be a pastor, that's going to like, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 3: do these amazing things that you can do with him.
- 6:05Speaker 3: And you're just scared that what happened with me and
- 6:09Speaker 3: your mom is gonna end up happening to you. And
- 6:12Speaker 3: what happened with my dad and my mom was that
- 6:14Speaker 3: he cheated on her and then, you know, married his,
- 6:18Speaker 3: you know, the person that he cheated with. And so
- 6:22Speaker 3: I remember, sitting there and it's the first time that
- 6:26Speaker 3: I can like actively remember my gut telling me that
- 6:30Speaker 3: something was wrong, but ignoring that because I felt like, well,
- 6:34Speaker 3: my dad must know better than I do. And so
- 6:38Speaker 3: I actually ended up getting married when I was 20
- 6:40Speaker 3: years old and moving to Texas and then ended up
- 6:44Speaker 3: at a very culty Bible school. And that was a
- 6:48Speaker 3: place where my mental health was just destroyed. I had
- 6:54Speaker 3: already struggled with anxiety for most of my life. And
- 6:58Speaker 3: it turns out, I found out three years ago that
- 7:01Speaker 3: I have ADHD. So a lot of my anxiety and
- 7:05Speaker 3: the struggles that I had came from this undiagnosed ADHD.
- 7:10Speaker 3: But within that church environment, any kind of mental health
- 7:14Speaker 3: issues that you have were considered demonic, a lack of
- 7:19Speaker 3: faith in God, basically like your fault. And so I
- 7:23Speaker 3: constantly felt terrible about myself. And along with that, I
- 7:29Speaker 3: was in a relationship that very quickly became emotionally abusive.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And felt kind of stuck because, you know, God hates divorce.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And so I couldn't leave and he didn't physically hit me.
- 7:44Speaker 3: And even though he had an addiction to pornography, like badly,
- 7:49Speaker 3: he He never physically cheated on me. And so anytime
- 7:53Speaker 3: I went to the church for help, it was like, well,
- 7:57Speaker 3: you don't have biblical grounds for a divorce. And so
- 8:00Speaker 3: eventually five years into the marriage, we moved back to
- 8:05Speaker 3: Pennsylvania where his parents lived. And we ended up as
- 8:10Speaker 3: the youth pastors at his parents' church. But that got
- 8:13Speaker 3: me away from like the school and the place that
- 8:16Speaker 3: I was in and closer to my mom. And my
- 8:19Speaker 3: mom used to tell me all the time, like, whenever
- 8:22Speaker 3: you're fed up with this, whenever you're done, and you
- 8:24Speaker 3: just can't take it anymore, just know I will be
- 8:27Speaker 3: there for you. And I will come pick you up
- 8:31Speaker 3: right away. And I will like make sure that you
- 8:34Speaker 3: can start over again. And eventually I kind of hit
- 8:37Speaker 3: my breaking point where I was like, you know what,
- 8:39Speaker 3: if this is what God wants for me, then I
- 8:41Speaker 3: think that I don't want anything to do with him
- 8:44Speaker 3: or the church because this is miserable and I just
- 8:47Speaker 3: can't live like this anymore. And I remember calling my
- 8:51Speaker 3: mom and like, sure enough, the next day she was
- 8:53Speaker 3: there to pick me up and bring me back to
- 8:56Speaker 3: New Jersey. And I remember I just felt so relieved
- 9:00Speaker 3: and I never felt at the time that that I
- 9:04Speaker 3: needed any time or space to grieve the relationship. Like
- 9:07Speaker 3: I wasn't in love with this man. I was with
- 9:11Speaker 3: him out of obligation for the church. And so I
- 9:14Speaker 3: just very naively believe that there wasn't any healing from
- 9:19Speaker 3: the relationship to be done. And so I didn't take
- 9:23Speaker 3: any time for myself to really get to know me
- 9:27Speaker 3: and to heal before I jumped into a new relationship
- 9:31Speaker 3: with somebody that I met. And we dated for about
- 9:39Speaker 3: three years before we got engaged. And when I tell
- 9:44Speaker 3: you that it was like the best years of my life,
- 9:48Speaker 3: I felt like I met Prince Charming. I felt like
- 9:52Speaker 3: everything was so unbelievably perfect. And I couldn't believe that
- 9:57Speaker 3: I had such a great man in my life. It
- 9:59Speaker 3: was almost like I felt like God was saying like,
- 10:01Speaker 3: sorry for you know, the, the past, but here is
- 10:05Speaker 3: how we're making it up to you. And we got
- 10:09Speaker 3: married after we were together for five years. And still
- 10:13Speaker 3: to this day, I will tell people that my wedding
- 10:16Speaker 3: day was one of the best days of my life,
- 10:18Speaker 3: even though it came afterwards was a nightmare. But yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 3: At that time, I was marrying my best friend, somebody
- 10:25Speaker 3: that I loved, who I thought I knew, who was
- 10:29Speaker 3: this incredible guy that never treated me wrong. And my
- 10:35Speaker 3: mom was there. My dad didn't come to my wedding,
- 10:38Speaker 3: but my mom was there to walk me down the aisle,
- 10:40Speaker 3: to do a choreographed first dance with me. Like, it
- 10:43Speaker 3: was one of the best days ever. But after the marriage,
- 10:49Speaker 3: things changed very quickly. And within four months, I was
- 10:55Speaker 3: feeling so much confusion because my ex suddenly became very
- 11:01Speaker 3: cold and he became very distant from me. He started
- 11:05Speaker 3: to become annoyed with every little thing that I did,
- 11:08Speaker 3: started to put me down and criticize me and then
- 11:12Speaker 3: started yelling at me. And this was all happening as
- 11:16Speaker 3: my mom was diagnosed with liver disease and in need
- 11:22Speaker 3: of a liver transplant. And so I was spending as
- 11:26Speaker 3: much time as she needed with her, helping her, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 3: with her illness and my brother ended up being her
- 11:36Speaker 3: donor for her liver transplant. So my brother donated half
- 11:41Speaker 3: his liver to her and it was a very touch
- 11:43Speaker 3: and go situation. Like we almost lost her before the
- 11:46Speaker 3: transplant and we almost lost her afterwards, but she was
- 11:52Speaker 3: able to power through and really fight to heal. And
- 11:57Speaker 3: after the transplant, we had 19 months with my mom and,
- 12:03Speaker 3: Until her appendix burst and her immune system was too
- 12:08Speaker 3: compromised to be able to recover from it. And unfortunately,
- 12:12Speaker 3: she passed away. And during this time, my ex made
- 12:17Speaker 3: my life a nightmare. It was like if I was grieving,
- 12:22Speaker 3: he would say things like, how long does our life
- 12:25Speaker 3: have to be put on hold for you to deal
- 12:28Speaker 3: with your mom? And I'm like, who the hell's life
- 12:30Speaker 3: is on hold right now? Like mine is very much
- 12:33Speaker 3: going on and it is a nightmare. This is horrible.
- 12:36Speaker 3: And things just continue to get worse and worse. Anytime
- 12:42Speaker 3: I try to do something for myself, there was a
- 12:45Speaker 3: problem with that. For example, I love the Backstreet Boys.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I have been a Backstreet Boys fan since I was
- 12:54Speaker 3: like 11 years old. And as an adult, I love
- 12:57Speaker 3: going to their concerts. I love the nostalgia of all
- 13:00Speaker 3: of that. But some of the biggest fights that I
- 13:03Speaker 3: had with my ex were over the fact that I
- 13:06Speaker 3: wanted to go to a Backstreet Boys concert. The concert
- 13:09Speaker 3: would be like a year in advance. And for a year,
- 13:12Speaker 3: I would deal with fights anytime, you know, I was
- 13:16Speaker 3: talking with my friend about the concert and he heard
- 13:18Speaker 3: it anytime like it was brought up. It was like
- 13:21Speaker 3: this insane jealousy and insecurity. And now I realize that
- 13:27Speaker 3: when my attention was not on him, then all hell
- 13:30Speaker 3: broke loose. And it took me a while to realize
- 13:35Speaker 3: that I had married somebody exactly like my father. And
- 13:39Speaker 3: it was jarring for me because in this marriage, I
- 13:41Speaker 3: was in love. Like I loved him with all my heart.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Like he was who I thought was my forever person.
- 13:50Speaker 3: And I realized that what I fell in love with
- 13:53Speaker 3: was a mask. And what I started to see throughout
- 13:56Speaker 3: the marriage was who he really was. And I justified
- 14:00Speaker 3: his behavior for so long by saying that, well, he's
- 14:03Speaker 3: probably having a hard time with having lost my mom too.
- 14:07Speaker 3: He doesn't know how to handle this. He struggles with
- 14:10Speaker 3: his own insecurities, just like constantly making excuses for it.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And things would just kind of continue to get worse
- 14:18Speaker 3: and worse until about.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Two years ago, I finally reached my breaking point. And
- 14:27Speaker 3: it was when I had gone to a concert that
- 14:31Speaker 3: was one of the Backstreet Boys, AJ, and one of
- 14:34Speaker 3: the guys from NSYNC, Joey, doing a show together. And
- 14:37Speaker 3: it was tons of fun. And Joey did this song,
- 14:41Speaker 3: one of the NSYNC songs in the style of Frank Sinatra.
- 14:45Speaker 3: So I had decided like, oh, let me share this
- 14:48Speaker 3: with my husband. He likes Frank Sinatra. Like this is
- 14:51Speaker 3: a way that I can show him that we can bond.
- 14:55Speaker 3: And I remember that Joey hit a high note and
- 14:58Speaker 3: the crowd cheers. And so did I. I was like, yeah, Joey.
- 15:01Speaker 3: And all of a sudden my ex just exploded on me.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's like, is that you screaming for another man? How
- 15:08Speaker 3: dare you? And it became this huge fight. And I
- 15:13Speaker 3: remember I said to him, finally, I feel like at
- 15:17Speaker 3: this point, you're just trying to push me away because
- 15:20Speaker 3: it would be easier for me to leave than it
- 15:22Speaker 3: would be for you to actually deal with whatever it
- 15:26Speaker 3: is that's causing you to feel so insecure and to
- 15:30Speaker 3: treat me this way. And his response was, Do you
- 15:34Speaker 3: think it would be easier for me to lose half
- 15:36Speaker 3: of this house, half my paycheck and half my 401k? No,
- 15:41Speaker 3: it wouldn't be easier. He didn't say anything about me.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And at that time, my rose colored glasses kind of shattered.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And I realized this man is totally okay with staying
- 15:54Speaker 3: in a toxic relationship. He's totally okay with both of
- 16:00Speaker 3: us being miserable because he wasn't happy either. He is
- 16:04Speaker 3: totally OK with hurting me. His biggest concern is what
- 16:09Speaker 3: he doesn't want to lose, which is his money. And
- 16:12Speaker 3: the fact that he just didn't mention me at all,
- 16:16Speaker 3: it was so eye opening for me. And I remember
- 16:18Speaker 3: walking away from that conversation just saying like, OK, I
- 16:22Speaker 3: need space right now and going into my home office
- 16:27Speaker 3: and like hearing my mom's voice clear as day as
- 16:30Speaker 3: if she were in the room with me. saying, I
- 16:34Speaker 3: raised you better than to let a man treat you
- 16:36Speaker 3: this way. And I was like, she really did. And
- 16:39Speaker 3: so I had a trip that was planned to Florida
- 16:43Speaker 3: to go to a 90s convention. And I decided that
- 16:47Speaker 3: I was going to go out to Florida a couple
- 16:49Speaker 3: days early and just give myself some space to like,
- 16:54Speaker 3: think and figure out what I needed to do next.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And those few days were life changing for me because
- 17:01Speaker 3: I finally, for the first time in decades, felt peace.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And I had not had that in so long in
- 17:10Speaker 3: my life. And I knew that when it came to
- 17:13Speaker 3: what I wanted for my future, that I wanted peace
- 17:16Speaker 3: in my life and I wanted joy in my life.
- 17:20Speaker 3: So it took me a little bit of time. It
- 17:22Speaker 3: took me about six months to actually get to a
- 17:26Speaker 3: place where I could file for divorce and start making
- 17:30Speaker 3: plans to leave. And ultimately, I decided that I wanted
- 17:35Speaker 3: to live in Florida. I was living in New Jersey
- 17:37Speaker 3: at the time. And when I thought about myself healing,
- 17:40Speaker 3: I was like, I just picture myself in the sunshine,
- 17:43Speaker 3: sitting out by a pool, like journaling, reading, going to
- 17:49Speaker 3: the beach. And like, that was my, that was my dream.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And so I decided that I was going to take
- 17:56Speaker 3: the leap and that I was going to move to Jacksonville, Florida.
- 18:00Speaker 3: And so... In May of 2025, I packed up all
- 18:05Speaker 3: my stuff and left at 9.30 p.m. with just me
- 18:10Speaker 3: and my new little pup in the passenger seat and
- 18:14Speaker 3: drove 800 miles through the night all the way down
- 18:18Speaker 3: to Jacksonville, Florida by myself to restart and rebuild my life.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And now my life literally looks exactly the way I
- 18:27Speaker 3: pictured it. Incredible. Like I've created... a beautiful life for myself.
- 18:34Speaker 3: And the way that I did that was because I
- 18:38Speaker 3: really took the time to learn how to love myself.
- 18:41Speaker 3: That I realized that this love that I had been
- 18:45Speaker 3: searching for in other people, that the desire for someone
- 18:49Speaker 3: to let me know that I was worthy and that
- 18:52Speaker 3: I was enough and that I was deserving of love,
- 18:55Speaker 3: that I didn't need to find that outside myself. I
- 18:59Speaker 3: realized that I could find that within myself And so
- 19:02Speaker 3: now I have become unapologetically the most authentic version of
- 19:07Speaker 3: myself that I've ever been. I've created a life for
- 19:10Speaker 3: myself that I'm obsessed with. I go to a lot
- 19:14Speaker 3: of Backstreet Boys concerts and I don't have anybody complaining
- 19:18Speaker 3: about it. And honestly, taking a chance on myself at
- 19:24Speaker 3: 40 years old was the best decision that I ever made.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Amazing, amazing, amazing. Wow. Sammy, thank you for sharing that
- 19:32Speaker 2: your story when with so much honesty, like I said,
- 19:36Speaker 2: and vulnerability and openness and detail. I'm sure our listeners
- 19:41Speaker 2: like me, I've been on the edge of my seat
- 19:44Speaker 2: listening the whole time. I mean, that's a lot to
- 19:47Speaker 2: overcome and get through. And I'm just, yeah. I'm just
- 19:50Speaker 2: with my hand on my heart right now. Just really, yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Amazing that you saved yourself basically. And, you know, in the,
- 19:59Speaker 2: the last, you know, we have like the last maybe, uh,
- 20:02Speaker 2: quarter of our episode, I would love to hear how
- 20:07Speaker 2: you're supporting your clients now, because clearly women who are
- 20:10Speaker 2: struggling in very similar ways must be drawn to you
- 20:15Speaker 2: and your work.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah. So one of the biggest things that I do
- 20:20Speaker 3: with my clients when they come to me is the
- 20:22Speaker 3: first thing that we do is we create some safety
- 20:26Speaker 3: for them because coming out of a toxic relationship is
- 20:30Speaker 3: your nervous system is wrecked. And you don't even, even
- 20:36Speaker 3: when you do feel peace, it feels unsafe because you're
- 20:40Speaker 3: not used to it. So I help my clients develop
- 20:44Speaker 3: a sense of safety for themselves and make sure they
- 20:47Speaker 3: feel secure because then we can move on to the
- 20:50Speaker 3: rest of the work where we work on building self-trust,
- 20:55Speaker 3: really getting to know their most authentic self. Practicing radical self-compassion.
- 21:01Speaker 3: And I say radical because I feel like we need
- 21:05Speaker 3: to be the most compassionate towards ourselves. Nobody else is
- 21:10Speaker 3: going to have the same kind of compassion for us,
- 21:13Speaker 3: especially when we mess up that we can have for
- 21:15Speaker 3: ourselves and we can show our love in there. And
- 21:18Speaker 3: I help women just recreate routines for themselves that work.
- 21:23Speaker 3: And then eventually we're ready to help them create a
- 21:27Speaker 3: life that they are absolutely in love with. Like my
- 21:31Speaker 3: goal with my clients at the end of our work
- 21:36Speaker 3: is for them to feel like they truly love who
- 21:40Speaker 3: they are and are able to show up in the
- 21:43Speaker 3: world as their most authentic self and that they are
- 21:48Speaker 3: in the process of creating a life for themselves that
- 21:52Speaker 3: just lights them on fire and makes them excited to
- 21:55Speaker 3: wake up every morning.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Let's, let's, let's go right there. Let's hone in on
- 21:59Speaker 2: that actually, because it, and there's many places we could,
- 22:03Speaker 2: many things we could talk about and you named some
- 22:05Speaker 2: really powerful steps of recovery basically. But the piece around,
- 22:11Speaker 2: you know, what, what creates the life that you absolutely
- 22:17Speaker 2: just in the way you said it about your own life,
- 22:20Speaker 2: like you're obsessed with, like it's the best, most amazing
- 22:24Speaker 2: life that you're obsessed with it. And I would love
- 22:27Speaker 2: to hear, cause I imagine since I've experienced this myself, um,
- 22:32Speaker 2: that you might ask somebody, what would that be like?
- 22:35Speaker 2: And they're like, um, I, I don't know, uh, sunshine
- 22:39Speaker 2: and I don't know, like, you know, people might say
- 22:44Speaker 2: things like, I want just want to feel really good.
- 22:47Speaker 2: But how do you how do you coach them to
- 22:49Speaker 2: actually land on the things that they would be obsessed
- 22:51Speaker 2: with every day?
- 22:53Speaker 3: I help my clients really discover which things light them up.
- 22:59Speaker 3: So we talk about, we talk about the things in
- 23:02Speaker 3: childhood that made you happy, because I firmly believe that
- 23:07Speaker 3: when you bring some of the things that you loved
- 23:09Speaker 3: as a kid before the world started telling you what
- 23:13Speaker 3: you should and shouldn't like and who you should and
- 23:15Speaker 3: shouldn't be, that that brings more joy to your life.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I asked them about what kind of dreams they had.
- 23:22Speaker 3: that they've forgotten about, I asked them about if they
- 23:25Speaker 3: could really think about an ideal day of doing all
- 23:29Speaker 3: of the things that they've wanted to do, how would
- 23:32Speaker 3: they live that ideal day? I asked them little things like,
- 23:37Speaker 3: what is your favorite color? How can you add more
- 23:40Speaker 3: of that to your life? Like, how can you bring
- 23:42Speaker 3: that into you know, your surroundings? Who are your favorite people?
- 23:47Speaker 3: Can you make sure that you make sure those people
- 23:50Speaker 3: are in your life? What kind of music lights you up? Like,
- 23:55Speaker 3: what are the things that set your heart on fire?
- 23:57Speaker 3: What are the dreams that you maybe once forgot about
- 24:02Speaker 3: that seem impossible, but now maybe we can actually work
- 24:07Speaker 3: towards some of them. Like, for example, for me, I
- 24:10Speaker 3: always had a dream when I was younger of like,
- 24:13Speaker 3: being on TV and being in the movies and like
- 24:17Speaker 3: doing all that stuff. And so when I filed for divorce,
- 24:21Speaker 3: I decided to go after some of that stuff. And
- 24:24Speaker 3: so I ended up being an extra in happy Gilmore too.
- 24:28Speaker 3: And like got to do a scene with Adam Sandler
- 24:30Speaker 3: and bad bunny. It was so amazing.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I love that movie.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I used to, um, I used to watch game shows
- 24:39Speaker 3: all the time when I was younger and like want
- 24:42Speaker 3: to be on like, oh, I could be on Double
- 24:43Speaker 3: Dare or this and that. And I actually got recruited
- 24:46Speaker 3: to audition for this game show called The Greatest Average American.
- 24:52Speaker 3: And I was cast on the show and actually won
- 24:56Speaker 3: my episode. And that's what has allowed me to really
- 25:01Speaker 3: invest in my business now and invest in having my
- 25:05Speaker 3: own coach so that I can make sure that I
- 25:09Speaker 3: am in my best place for my clients. But I
- 25:12Speaker 3: really tell them to think outside the box, try new things. Like,
- 25:17Speaker 3: If there's something that you think interests you, but you're
- 25:21Speaker 3: not sure, like try it. The whole point is you
- 25:24Speaker 3: get to do whatever you want now. Like you don't
- 25:27Speaker 3: have anybody telling you, no, you can't do that. And
- 25:31Speaker 3: so the sky's the limit. And sometimes we just have
- 25:34Speaker 3: to brainstorm. Like sometimes we have to just sit there
- 25:37Speaker 3: and think about like, would I like this? Would I like,
- 25:40Speaker 3: you know, that? And you'd be surprised at what you
- 25:43Speaker 3: come up with. Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Wow. First of all, just wow. I hope you wrote
- 25:48Speaker 2: your autobiography, and if not, that you will.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I have. You have.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Good. I can't wait to read it. And this piece,
- 25:57Speaker 2: and we just literally have like 60 seconds, but I
- 26:00Speaker 2: just have to say it. It's like most people don't
- 26:06Speaker 2: feel that they have absolute choice. And you just gave
- 26:11Speaker 2: such great examples of many, many circumstances where people feel
- 26:16Speaker 2: trapped where you felt trapped initially and your life experience
- 26:21Speaker 2: and your spirit and the parenting you obviously got from
- 26:23Speaker 2: your mother um taught you that you have choice like
- 26:27Speaker 2: you can choose you don't have to do fill in
- 26:31Speaker 2: the blank with the 18 things and um and i
- 26:36Speaker 2: am sure there's listeners saying you All the things. And
- 26:40Speaker 2: as a mindset coach, you know, because you hear them
- 26:42Speaker 2: all the time, right? I can't do that because of money.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I can't do that because I have kids at home.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I can't do that because of my job. I can't,
- 26:48Speaker 2: I can't, I can't, I can't. And, you know, those
- 26:52Speaker 2: things are real. It's not that they're not real, like
- 26:55Speaker 2: in life, right? There's kids, there's, you know, a mortgage
- 26:57Speaker 2: to pay maybe or whatever it is. But what you've
- 27:03Speaker 2: said is so powerful for me because it's how I
- 27:05Speaker 2: also shifted my life into like knowing that I can
- 27:09Speaker 2: choose whatever I want, you know, and that there's infinite
- 27:14Speaker 2: space for me to do that.
- 27:16Speaker 3: And so I feel like I say this all the time,
- 27:20Speaker 3: but I feel like the universe meets us at our
- 27:23Speaker 3: level of audacity. So like when you have the audacity
- 27:27Speaker 3: to believe that you can do something and you set
- 27:31Speaker 3: that in your mind, that you will see opportunities come
- 27:35Speaker 3: up to be able to do those things.
- 27:37Speaker 2: 100 thank you so much sammy what a powerful episode
