- 0:21All right, welcome to the Mark Driscoll Show.
- 0:23The young, cool, hip guys here pick some of the topics because
- 0:27I'm not young. Cool or hip?
- 0:29We're going to show you a clip right now on something called
- 0:31Look Smacking. Is that right, gentlemen?
- 0:34Yeah. I feel like I need to turn in my
- 0:35man card for just saying that word.
- 0:37I feel like I just lost 10% of my testosterone saying the very
- 0:41word. But we'll show you the clip and
- 0:43then I'll give you my take. I live in a luxury condominium
- 0:56in downtown Miami, The penthouse.
- 1:01My name is Clavicular. I'm 20 years old.
- 1:05I believe in the looks maxim, the idea of maximizing physical
- 1:10attractiveness by any means necessary in order to ascend.
- 1:16In the morning, if my jaw looks a little weak, a bone smash to
- 1:20strengthen it. My ratios are nearly golden now.
- 1:26Testosterone for muscle growth, Desoxin As for appetite
- 1:32suppression, Glutathione for health maxing peptides for anti
- 1:42aging and collagen production. Milano tan 2 for healthy glow
- 1:47IGF one HGH register tied for leanness.
- 1:55You tasteride in an oxidil for hair maintenance.
- 2:01When it comes to ascension, if you're not looks maxing, you're
- 2:07not life maxing, and if you're not life maxing, you're nothing.
- 2:20Are these guys straight or they gay?
- 2:21Straight, They're straight. It's like they're all part of
- 2:25the red pill though, dude. They're straight.
- 2:27In denial that is. The gayest of gay, that is.
- 2:32If gay had gay and their baby was gay, this would be the gay
- 2:36baby. This is so gay, so stupid.
- 2:40Like, if you're a dude doing this, like immediately, please
- 2:45just go to a construction site and find a dude you know who's
- 2:49got calluses on his hands and ask him if what you're doing is
- 2:54a good idea. And then he's going to laugh and
- 2:57he's going to hand you a chainsaw and tell you to stop
- 3:00look smacking and start working. So this is what happens when
- 3:04guys live on the Internet and they become brainwashed.
- 3:09So number one, I noticed he doesn't have a dad #2 he doesn't
- 3:14have a wife #3 he doesn't have a kid.
- 3:16So what you end up doing is living on social media and just
- 3:20say this. Everybody on social media is
- 3:22lying. It's all filters.
- 3:24Best case scenario, trying to present themselves, Just ignore
- 3:29all that. If you're a heterosexual guy,
- 3:30who cares? Just be a tough guy, be a
- 3:32badass, get a job. It doesn't matter if if you got
- 3:36hairy legs and a beer gut. If you have a job in the Bible
- 3:40and you're dependable, you're going to be just fine.
- 3:43And so this is what happens when guys are on social media too
- 3:47much and they're focused on things that do not freaking
- 3:50matter. In addition, this leads to
- 3:53Wolfwind security. I mean, this is like, this is
- 3:56like the dude version of like anorexia or something to where
- 4:00gals have a misappropriated understanding of their
- 4:05appearance and image where a gal feels like she's unattractive
- 4:09when she's gorgeous or a guy is worried about being perfect.
- 4:13And let me say this to you, your goal guys, is this honor God,
- 4:16get a wife, have a family, make a difference.
- 4:19And you know, if you're just a guy who spends his whole life in
- 4:23front of a mirror, there's something profoundly wrong with
- 4:27you. Because at the end of the day,
- 4:29you don't want to be thinking about and looking at yourself.
- 4:32You want to be thinking about your God, your wife, your kids,
- 4:35your job, your ministry, your country, someone or something
- 4:38else other than yourself. And this is just, this is total
- 4:41self absorption in a bizarre way.
- 4:45And if you're a guy who behaves this way hoping to get a wife,
- 4:49you're going to get a shallow, worthless, hollow chick who's
- 4:52probably a Black Widow and and probably Jezebel's
- 4:56granddaughter. You're going to get some gal
- 4:58that doesn't care about your soul, doesn't care about your
- 5:00prayer life, doesn't care about your godliness, doesn't care
- 5:03about your integrity. All that she cares about is
- 5:06whether or not you can help boost her Instagram page.
- 5:09That means she's going to be a terrible wife.
- 5:11She's going to be a terrible mom.
- 5:13And I'll just tell you this too, I'm 55, I've been with my wife
- 5:1638 years. We just celebrated 38th
- 5:18anniversary of our first date. Gravity is undefeated.
- 5:23Just write that down, boys. Gravity is undefeated.
- 5:26At some point, it doesn't matter how much you left, things are
- 5:29going to go South. And at some point, you're not
- 5:32going to be hot. Your wife's not going to be hot.
- 5:34But if you love Jesus, you'll be together and you'll be happy.
- 5:37And so, yeah, to me, it's really sad that we've got an entire
- 5:40industry that is trying to create mental illness for young
- 5:44men through online overconsumption and addiction in
- 5:47comparison, and then trying to sell products and all this is
- 5:52this is just freaking advertising trying to get you
- 5:55insecure and broke. And at the end of the day, any
- 5:58chick who says, well, he didn't hammer his jawline today, I
- 6:01can't marry him, I'll just tell you, she's not good for 50 years
- 6:05and great grandkids. So you may as well just hit the
- 6:07ejac button on that relationship as soon as possible.
- 6:11At the end of the day, this is what happens when you're not
- 6:13thinking about God, marriage, family, future.
- 6:17You're just thinking about self. And so it's selfish, it's self
- 6:20consumed. And, and to me it's just weird.
- 6:23Like any dude who spends a lot of time in his underwear looking
- 6:26at himself in the mirror. I just threw up in my mouth
- 6:30thinking about it. I mean, the only reason a house
- 6:33should have a mirror is because there was a woman in it.
- 6:36Until you get a woman and marry her, I'm not sure you even need
- 6:40a mirror in your house. But we do live in the day too.
- 6:43It's weird where the whole generation, you know, grew up
- 6:47with a phone where the best camera is just to take a photo
- 6:50of you. I don't know if you guys know
- 6:52this. Cameras used to be able to take
- 6:54photos of other people, and it wasn't primarily about you.
- 6:57People had better mental health, they had better relationships,
- 7:00they were more selfless, they were less self consumed, they
- 7:03were less comparing of 1 to another, and there's less
- 7:07coveting and less jealousy. But just to make no mistake
- 7:09guys, some of the young guys too, you probably are thinking,
- 7:13Oh my gosh, there's more conservative men than women.
- 7:15And where do we find a wife? You know, all the chicks are
- 7:18lesbians and they've accepted Kamala Harris in their heart.
- 7:21Where do we get a wife? Well, the end of the day, guys,
- 7:24let me tell you this, who cares about women?
- 7:26You only need one. He's got to find one girl.
- 7:29That's it. Here's your big job is not to
- 7:31save women. It's just to meet one girl.
- 7:35One girl that loves the Lord. One girl that likes you.
- 7:38One girl that's a good friend, one girl that is going to be
- 7:42selfless and not selfish, one girl who's going to be loyal to
- 7:45you and not, you know, riding other guys.
- 7:49A gal who ultimately wants to serve God with you and build a
- 7:52family and build a legacy and build a future.
- 7:54So take all of this time, energy, money, flush it.
- 7:57It's a total waste of time and then humble yourself and serve.
- 8:01Show up at a good church, find a gal who isn't on the Internet
- 8:05and trying to find a guy whose looks smacking, and then just
- 8:08serve alongside of her in church, maybe even in kids
- 8:11ministry. And then marry her and love her
- 8:13and enjoy her and have a family with her and make babies with
- 8:17her and grow old with her. And stop buying stupid asinine
- 8:21products that are trying to think that masculinity is what
- 8:25you consume rather than what you produce, and it's what you buy
- 8:29rather than what you build. Well, thank you for joining us
- 8:33here on Spotify. If you don't know me, my name is
- 8:36Pastor Mark Driscoll. I have been in the pulpit for
- 8:40little more than 30 years preaching and teaching the
- 8:43Bible. I have been faithfully married
- 8:45to my wife since 1992. We've got five kids.
- 8:49We got 6 grandkids and I would love for you to know more about
- 8:54Real Faith Ministry where we send Bible teaching around the
- 8:58world. And if you would pray for us, we
- 9:01would appreciate it. And if you'd like to partner
- 9:03with us, we would invite you to do so.
- 9:05We are supported by generous people who give financially so
- 9:10that we can get God's word out to the world.
- 9:13If you'd like to do so, text partner to 99383.
- 9:17Again, text partner to 99383. We love you, we thank you, and I
- 9:23appreciate you allowing me to help you learn God's Word.
- 9:27Well, if you're a parent, if you're a dad, you probably are
- 9:31diligent to protect the physical perimeter of your house.
- 9:37If you're a good man, you probably do security perimeter
- 9:39check before you go to bed at night.
- 9:41You probably have some sort of firearm and plan to defend your
- 9:46family in case of an invasion. And if you're smart, you
- 9:49probably got security cameras to make sure that your family is
- 9:53physically safe. Well, what's really hard is
- 9:56keeping your family digitally safe.
- 9:58And sometimes the families that are the most buttoned up
- 10:01physically, they're the most vulnerable digitally.
- 10:05And what we're seeing is a growing online trend of
- 10:08radicalization of underage individuals, teenagers often
- 10:13times, that then compels them to do criminal, terroristic,
- 10:18diabolical and demonic things. We'll show you the clip and then
- 10:21talk about the danger. Well, you tried to look good for
- 10:24your mug shot. Oh, I.
- 10:27Get a mug shot well. We're going to jail or what do
- 10:29you think? Dude?
- 10:31I was going to do my makeup this morning.
- 10:33Do you? Think I'm going to fix my hair
- 10:34or do you think I'll be in the prison handcuffs?
- 10:37Well, I'm probably not going to like like I my, my involvement's
- 10:41not that long. So I'll be I'll be out before
- 10:44you. I'm probably not in a good life
- 10:46to go to the office. I'm going to my parents are
- 10:48going to get. Me, I was.
- 10:49I started crying because I thought she was going to feel
- 10:51bad, like, and sent me to the cycle because I was like, I
- 10:55thought I was hurting someone. Yeah, I thought about hurting
- 10:59this boy and then they saw. So the the, the evidence is
- 11:06incontrovertible and technology, it can be morally neutral.
- 11:11So old technology does it just it just connects to and
- 11:14amplifies and multiplies the human heart.
- 11:17And if you've got darkness and evil, if you've got demonic
- 11:21intention, then you have an old opportunity to multiply it.
- 11:24In the same way that technology can be used to send out Bible
- 11:27teaching and teach people about Jesus.
- 11:29So technology is an evil, but people are an evil.
- 11:33People will use technology to multiply and maximize evil.
- 11:38And what happens is for those who are exposed to technology
- 11:42too early, we know that their their brains are not fully
- 11:46formed to the point where they can distinguish reality and have
- 11:51self-control. It's particularly true of young
- 11:53men, but young women as well. In addition, we know that the
- 11:57longer you are online, at some point, the descent always goes S
- 12:03the algorithms, the platforms, they're not going to feed you
- 12:07better and healthier content the longer you're on.
- 12:10They're going to wait for you to go into something that is dark
- 12:12or diabolical or demonic, and then you're going to go another
- 12:16click South and then again you're going to go another click
- 12:19South. And so really, this is all
- 12:21spiritual warfare in a digital age, and the goal is to get
- 12:26people addicted and also to get people to act out in
- 12:29self-destructive ways. And what we're now seeing is the
- 12:33radicalization of an entire generation of people that often
- 12:37times already have mental health issues, meaning they're more
- 12:40susceptible and vulnerable to deception, into acting out in
- 12:43violent ways. We are seeing an increase with
- 12:46the school shootings and plottings of school shootings
- 12:49and terrorist activities through teens that often times they have
- 12:53been radicalized and they have been pushed toward criminal
- 12:57behavior through their time online chats and forums and
- 13:01things of that nature sorting kind.
- 13:03And we live in this really sick world where you can live in
- 13:06another country and you can radicalize someone to a
- 13:09religious or a political ideology and then they act out
- 13:13upon that and then you disappear and you don't bear any of the
- 13:16legal responsibility. And instead that person's life
- 13:20is ruined. And so seems like to me the
- 13:23reason that this clip went viral, you've got 2 teenage
- 13:25girls who literally do not understand the gravity of the
- 13:28situation they find themselves in.
- 13:31They're laughing in the back of a a patrol car as a minor.
- 13:34Once you're convicted, your life changes.
- 13:37They're not understanding. Now for the rest of your life,
- 13:40you're going to have criminal activity on all of your
- 13:44employment applications. And now you know you're going to
- 13:47be in jail, probably for some time.
- 13:50In addition, you were looking at doing damage or even killing
- 13:55another human being and you've lost touch with reality to the
- 13:59point where you think this is sort of funny and interesting.
- 14:02And your your greatest concern is not what does the rest of my
- 14:06life look like? And what does what was I going
- 14:08to do to another human being instead?
- 14:10It's how will I look on my mug shot.
- 14:12And so this is what happens when there is a generation that is
- 14:16addicted to attention and, and sometimes the easiest way, the
- 14:21shortest distance between two points to get attention is to do
- 14:25something completely diabolical and shocking and then your
- 14:29infamous, which is just another way to be famous.
- 14:32There was a book some years ago written by Doctor Drew Pinsky.
- 14:38He's in Loveline and, and other shows.
- 14:42He's a psychologist to the stars and it was called the mirror
- 14:45effect. I read it many years ago and I
- 14:47was actually on the Loveline show with him some years ago.
- 14:50We talked about it offline, but it it, it was at the very
- 14:54beginning of social media and the Internet.
- 14:56And he had this really wonderful, insightful analysis.
- 15:01And I have no indication that he knows Jesus.
- 15:04In my few conversations with him in years past, he doesn't seem
- 15:06to know Christ, but he said what happens is that celebrities
- 15:09model behavior and then their followers mirror it.
- 15:13And So what a celebrity will do, they'll need to do something
- 15:16that's more out, say or do something that is just wild,
- 15:20outlandish, garish, something just sort of shocking.
- 15:25And then all the eyeballs go to it.
- 15:26They're like, did you see this or did you hear this?
- 15:29And so then the person who is the influencer, they model
- 15:33behavior and then their followers, they mirror it.
- 15:37So now they're saying and doing what their influencer is saying
- 15:41and doing. It's like Russian nesting dolls.
- 15:43They're the big version. And then there's all these
- 15:45little copies. Well, then what happens is once
- 15:48everybody is saying or doing the thing that is outlandish, you
- 15:52know, criminal, ghoulish, well, it's no longer interesting.
- 15:57It no longer is an outlier and no longer Garner's attention
- 16:01because now it's just common. So what happens then is the
- 16:04influencer either needs to do something more extreme, say
- 16:09something more extreme, or they sort of go down and they they
- 16:12stop trending and they lose their platform and then they're,
- 16:16you know, hawk to a girl and they're just gone forever.
- 16:19And then or what happens is one of their followers or somebody
- 16:23else, they then rise up and say and do something that's even
- 16:26crazier than the person that preceded them.
- 16:30And then their followers, they start mirroring what they're
- 16:33modeling biblically. This is worship as a Christian
- 16:37pastor. The Bible talks about we were
- 16:40made in the image of God, meaning we were made to mirror.
- 16:46And so God is supposed to be the one who is modeling, and then
- 16:50we're supposed to be the ones who are mirroring.
- 16:53God loves, so we love. God tells the truth, so we tell
- 16:56the truth. God Forgives people, so we
- 16:57forgive people. When you lose a concept of
- 17:01mirroring God, you're still wanting to mirror image,
- 17:05reflect, glorify, honor, praise someone, follow someone, and so
- 17:11you choose someone. Usually that's your influencer
- 17:15and suddenly they replace God in your life and now you are paying
- 17:21attention to them rather than God.
- 17:23Now you're wanting to become like them rather than God.
- 17:25Now you're wanting to say and do what they're saying and doing
- 17:28rather than God. And all of this is worship.
- 17:32And functionally it's called idolatry and it is worshipping
- 17:36someone or something other than God.
- 17:38In the end of First John, he says, my dear little children,
- 17:41keep yourselves from idols. That's like the summary of the
- 17:43whole book of First John in the New Testament.
- 17:45This is what idolatry is. And So what you get are people
- 17:49like this, that what they are doing is mirroring something
- 17:54that someone else has been modeling, Someone has been
- 17:57telling them, you know, online and some deep corner of the
- 18:01Internet or platform or chat room, you know, here's how you
- 18:05kill somebody. Here's how you make it on
- 18:06television. Here's how you be famous, you
- 18:09know, I and then there becomes this psychological push to act
- 18:13out in obedience. And when someone does that,
- 18:16they're they're destroying their entire life and they're doing so
- 18:20as an act of worship to obey the person that they have had
- 18:24replaced God as the highest authority in their life.
- 18:27And what they're doing is profoundly demonic and it's
- 18:29deeply Pagan. And it's not just behavior.
- 18:34It is a demonic stronghold. And so when this happens, and
- 18:37then you see like teenage girls who truly don't even have a
- 18:42corresponding concept of reality, like you were going to
- 18:46harm or kill someone and now it's funny and you're not
- 18:50thinking about prison. Obviously, they have no idea
- 18:52what goes on in jail. Throw a teenage girl in jail and
- 18:56and tell me if she is laughing and worried about her makeup the
- 19:00next morning she is crying and worried about her life.
- 19:04Furthermore, what happens when you are incarcerated,
- 19:08particularly, you know, when these girls turn 18?
- 19:12I mean, they're going to get beaten, they're going to get
- 19:13sexually assaulted. They're going to be tormented
- 19:16psychologically. They're going to be completely
- 19:18broken. And at the end of the day, you
- 19:21know, especially the gal who's overweight, out of shape,
- 19:25obviously lived a very soft life, is now going into a very
- 19:29hard reality. In no way whatsoever is prepared
- 19:33for that and is going to be entirely broken for the rest of
- 19:38her life. And apart from a miracle of
- 19:40God's grace, this is this is a girl that'll never be the same
- 19:44and never recover. And so, you know, we do believe
- 19:48in freedom of speech, but at the same time, we also need to have
- 19:52a concept that we're dealing with human beings.
- 19:55And when young adults like this are acting out in these kind of
- 19:59ways, as a dad, it's just devastating to me.
- 20:01And it's heartbreaking. Not only are they going to do
- 20:04damage and harm to someone else, they're going to destroy and
- 20:07Devonate devastate their entire life and their future.
- 20:11And, and these are the kind of people that honestly, they have
- 20:14such mental health issues. Unless there's some real
- 20:17deliverance, their life is very short because they don't think
- 20:21in terms of risk and planning and longevity and wisdom.
- 20:25And at some point they self destruct or they self harm.
- 20:29And so, yeah, if you are a parent with one of these
- 20:32children, get them help as soon as possible.
- 20:35And if you're one of these people that struggles with
- 20:38mental health, you're online too much and you're starting to veer
- 20:43into the darker corners of the Internet platforms and
- 20:46discussion chat rooms, Just know that here's where it ends.
- 20:52Eventually, if you just continue on that road, here's where it
- 20:54ends. Death.
- 20:57You kill someone or you kill yourself because that's always
- 21:01the plot and plan of Satan and demons is to steal, kill and
- 21:06destroy. You either destroy someone else
- 21:09and or you destroy yourself. And so repentance is literally
- 21:13turning around and going the other direction.
- 21:16It's turning off your phone. It's getting to know the God of
- 21:19the Bible. It's starting to live in the
- 21:21real world, not the fantasy digital world.
- 21:25And also to as a parent, I would just encourage parents, do all
- 21:29you can to force your children to have a head on collision with
- 21:33reality. When, when our kids were little,
- 21:37I would go do hospital visits and I would bring our children.
- 21:40They'd be like, dad, what happened to that guy while he
- 21:42was drinking and driving and he wrapped his car around the pole.
- 21:45This is actually a genuine hospital visit when my kids were
- 21:49little. So you see his legs, they'll
- 21:51never work again. He'll be in a wheelchair for the
- 21:53rest of his life. I had this conversation with my
- 21:55son. He's like, Oh my gosh, that's so
- 21:58he's never going to stand up again.
- 21:59No, he'll never stand up again. I remember my son was little.
- 22:02It's like, well, dad, what happened?
- 22:04He he drank alcohol and he, he got behind the wheel of a car.
- 22:09Son, are you ever going to drink alcohol and get behind the wheel
- 22:11of a car? No, Dad, I want to walk.
- 22:13OK? Reality is a really good
- 22:16instructor. I have taken my kids into
- 22:20hospital visits, not inappropriate for their age.
- 22:24I've taken them to funerals, not inappropriate for their age.
- 22:27And I've let them meet people that have self destructed their
- 22:30lives, not inappropriate for their age, just so that my kids
- 22:33knew that there was cause and effect and there was consequence
- 22:37and reality. And sometimes kids who are on
- 22:40their phone all the time, they think everything is just another
- 22:43Netflix series of episodes and they don't understand reality
- 22:47and the gravitational force of evil in the world.
- 22:50And so my encouragement to parents is get your kids to deal
- 22:54with reality as soon as possible.
- 22:56One of the best things that these, the parents of these
- 22:59girls could have done, take them to a women's prison, right?
- 23:04Maybe find a pastor or chaplain who's going and have them tag
- 23:07along for the day and let them just spend a few hours in a
- 23:12women's prison and let them see what reality is.
- 23:16And then that becomes a great deterrent to not go there.
- 23:19A close to this, a buddy of mine some years ago, his dad took him
- 23:24back when they had they had STD wards, sexually transmitted
- 23:27disease wards, whole sections of the hospital where guys with
- 23:30syphilis and AIDS are all dying and, you know, leaking fluids.
- 23:34And he's slowly painfully dying. And he started messing around
- 23:39with girls. And this was a long time ago.
- 23:41And his dad took him to the hospital into the STD ward and
- 23:44walked him around. It's like that.
- 23:46So this is what syphilis looks like and this is what herpes
- 23:49looks like. And this is what AIDS looks
- 23:51like. And the little boy, well, he was
- 23:53not a little boy. He was a teenage young man, but
- 23:56he was just shell shocked. He's like, Oh my gosh, how do
- 23:59you not get this? Keep it in your pants.
- 24:03Meet your wife and be faithful to her.
- 24:05You got nothing to worry about that guy today.
- 24:08He's a pastor. The moral of the story is
- 24:11sometimes we keep our children from reality.
- 24:14We hand them a phone and then they learn before they learn
- 24:20before we teach them and they learn when it's too late.
