- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Did you see that show?
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, it's a good short.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Because I don't even watch TV.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, I only watch TV when she tells me, like, oh, you should watch something or whatever.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, Hacks has been on for a few years.

- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Bardam, am I saying that correctly?
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Javier Bardem.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Bardem.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, Hanad would know how to pronounce.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: He had his kafia on, so that was nice.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: It was no, I look, it's it's very nice to see.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Um to see I I mean, listen, I looked up, I'm like, where is it at?
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: It's on CBS.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I'm not adding another, like I don't have I don't have Paramount Plus.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I just I'm like I'm not paying$1299.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I honestly never pay attention to what any celebrities has anymore.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: I'm overall.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, me too.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: That's why I didn't care.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: I'm like, whatever.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I'm not paying$12.99 to see this shit.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you the only time I pay to I pay any attention to celebrity anything if it's like a scandal.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Isn't that terrible?
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Does that make me a bad person?
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: No, you're human.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, oh my god, a scandal, yes.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, and then and then speaking of celebr celebrities, that piece of shit, uh, what's his name?
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Uh Jerry Seinfeld, who I never found funny.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Like, my my my original feelings about him have always I've been right.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Like, he's such a piece of shit.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: He said he likened people who say free Palestine to the KKK.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Did you know about that?
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: You didn't hear about this?
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: This asshole.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: What did he say this?
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Like, it was all over the news last week.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, I don't know.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Henek is clearly in her own little world.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I look, I'm in my own little bubble, and there are certain things that I choose to consume for.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And Lena and I were just talking about this.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: There's certain things that I choose to consume and other things that I'm just like, whatever.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he said.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I literally do not have the brain capacity for this.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: He said it, and he's like, they're so annoying.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: They're like the KKK.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: Like, how is Saying Free Palestine like the KKK?
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: He's such a piece of shit.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: God, I can't stand his zyroom.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: You know what I you know what I um what I what I have been like consuming lately and on Instagram specifically, because I do a lot of Instagram and TikTok.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Um, so there is this one woman that I follow, and her I love her.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: So you know how I always say, like, I love people who do it like for the art, for the culture, for people.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: So she is um British, Syrian British, right?
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Born and raised in in England, in London, uh, of Syrian heritage.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: And I love what her Instagram page is dedicated to.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: It's dedicated to the beauty of the Arabic language, but also to just the beauty of her country.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: What's her name?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe I saw her.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Her name is the the page is called in Arabic We Say.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I had talked to you about this before.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Her name is Yameen.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, and so she is so I've I've gone back and forth with her on Instagram a lot.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I really wanted to have her on here, but her schedule is crazy because she does all this craft stuff and she sells it.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: And she's also a uh ceramicist.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And she makes ceramics.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Um, so she made me uh a custom birthday gift for my sister-in-law, who's like one of my best friends.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Uh, and it was beautiful, and you can tell she made it with like so much love and it's like she made it herself.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: She made it herself.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: She's the one who like throws the ceramic, like she throws the pottery.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but I love what her page is dedicated to because I feel like that's another country, Syria, that's beautiful.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: That we don't people like it's almost like people don't they don't really talk about it.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: They don't know that the country is still going through like a struggle and strife.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: And you know there's people know.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I think people know, but I love people who I love the way that she is approaching this.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, but what's the saying that you got for your what what's the Arabic saying that you picked for your oh so for my so for the one that I got for my sister-in-law?
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: So my sister-in-law's name is Yasmin.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: So uh the I got her two cups.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: One cup says hubu hanan.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, and the other one says fullu yasmin.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Okay, do you want to translate that?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: So uh that's a lot of work.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: And somebody made a comment about how the fact that I'm a slow translator.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Like whatever, who cares?
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: But uh hub and hanan means like love and affection, right?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And my name is Hanan, so you know, play on words.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Uh and then fullu yasmin are just two types of flowers.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: So yasmin is a flower.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: And her name is Yasmin.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: And her name is Yasmin.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: So it's cute.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: It was a cute little yeah, it was a cute little custom gift.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: And I actually discovered this woman because she came up in my Instagram feed.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Um, there's I follow a lot of different pages that have a lot to do with like the Arabic language and the beauty of the Arabic language.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: So she has a whole bunch of postcards, like it's a book of postcards called in Arabic We Say, where she takes, she takes her own pictures and then she takes something in in in Arabic and she sets it to she translates it into English on the little postcard.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: But it's just the cutest little thing.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: I think I've seen you we you f you followed.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: I think I see some of the stuff when I'm going through our.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's just the cutest thing.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: And so it's like if you ever want to buy something cute and like handmade or whatever, she's an awesome person.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: She is so, she's such a pleasure to deal with.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: She's so pleasant.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: And um, I just bought a, I don't wanna, I don't want to ruin this.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: I just bought a housewarming friend, uh, uh, a housewarming gift for a friend who is Syrian, and she custom makes those cups too.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: They're coffee cups, you know, like the little Turkish coffee cups or every coffee cups.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: And it's the cutest little thing.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And so I think it's just I think it's just the like a very thoughtful, you know.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: But I and I love what her whole thing stands.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: She gets so much hate online, by the way.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: People are just rude.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Like if you love this, if you if you love your, you know, you love your country so much, why don't you just go back to where you came from?
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Which I think is terrible because she was born and raised in England, right?
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: In London.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, but I just she gets a lot of hate around the concept of the project that she works on.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Which I think it's like so fucking racist.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Because if somebody if somebody was doing this like in Spanish or in Italian, it would be like so fucking romanticized, right?
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: But because it's Arabic, it's not.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Well, there's the the whole racism thing.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: But you know what I mean?
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's like this this country is a homie.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: But yeah, when I don't wanna when she first came in my feed and I saw that she was selling these postcard books, immediately I was like add-to-cart purchase because it was just the cutest idea.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Like I I I I absolutely loved it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: And it was super cute because I ended up taking some of those postcards and I made some like a personalized birthday card for my sister-in-law.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, and then I took a bunch of that postcard book and I cut it up and I put it in a birthday scrapbook for my sister.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: So it was really cute.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I I loved it.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: You have time to do all this in with all of your jobs that you have, the 100 jobs that you have.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I bet I get a good freaking birthday gift.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I got you an amazing birthday gift last year that you never wear.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: I mean, I okay, I'll try it out again.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: It's in my closet somewhere.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Uh guys, I got her a knitted crocheted sweater that has someone who weighs wears crocheted stuff, Hanan.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Uh you know what?
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: That's your problem.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: It's so cute.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: It's so elegant.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Not even elegant, it's so cozy.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: The whole concept was that you could throw it over a set of sweats and it like completes the look.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: I'll have to get out of it.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: And you do it for the culture.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Dude, it's so cute because it is black and white and it has the two like crocheted watermelons on the pockets.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: It is, and the and the folks who make this, right?
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: They make it custom order.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Like they only make it when you ask for it.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Now you're trying to make me feel bad.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm trying to make you feel bad because I put so much effort into getting that made.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: I'll have to go back into my closet when I go back home today and check it out.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Anyways, like I want to talk about, because you mentioned racism, I want to talk about one thing, and I'm not gonna get into the the topics or like get deep into this topic, but like have you in the past cup in the past week, have you noticed because I have high school friends that I really think I need to like get off my Facebook.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: That's perfectly.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Have you have you come across any of that on your feeds?
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Like people like commenting certain things or saying posting certain memes that you're like, how am I like friends with this person?
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: No, no, thankfully, no.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I think I think I cleared that up a long time ago.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: I think I like I didn't realize like they're coming out of like they're coming, like I don't know, like I didn't realize these people hold certain these views.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I I'm so thankful I cleared those people out a long time ago.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I made a comment today to one of them.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: I was trying to be like, you know, but why didn't you?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: No, because I like the this person, I like that's the thing.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Like, how could you like you just get shocked sometimes?
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And I don't want to get into whatever the topic is.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: I don't, I don't want to touch that shit, okay?
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: But my point is, how could like like you get shocked?
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Like you went to school with the show.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: You know, as much as I want to say yes, I get shocked, I'm like, no, people are so dumb.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: There are so many stupid people in the world today.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And the last, I don't even know how many years has completely proven that.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So I don't I am no longer shocked by how ignorant people are.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Um it's crazy.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Anything, what else?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: So it's time for you to clear that up, guys.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: I really need to do a Costco order.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: See, I can't get her to concentrate.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Like, like concentrate.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I am concentrate.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: I just give you a very like exciting thing, like five minutes about like the things that I've been doing doing with my life lately.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: But anyway, what are you making for dinner today?
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: So you're upset about my Costco order, but you're asking me about that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, since you want to order something from Costco, obviously you're preparing dinner.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, no, it's not for dinner.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Because like like we were talking about how we're always like responsible for dinner and we don't want to be responsible for dinner.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be responsible for dinner.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: But I made a very like Egyptian dinner last night, you guys.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: What'd you make?
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Very Egyptian dinner.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And it all stemmed from I opened up my freezer and I had frozen mumbar in my freezer.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Mumbar is literally the innards of a sheep or cow, usually a cow, that have been cleaned and stuffed with a spiced rice.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's like masarin.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Palestinians call it massarin.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: We call it mumbar.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And then it's it's uh you you like uh boil it and then you flash fry it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: So it's super crispy, it's delicious, it's amazing.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: So I was like, oh, let me make this mumbar.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: All I have to do is stick it in the air fryer because I get it from this phenomenal.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Your kids eat it?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: No, I don't eat that stuff.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's you.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: I don't we eat everything.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: No.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: So uh we I did that, and then I was like, what about goes really well with mumbar?
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: I was like, you know what?
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Murugheya.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Murruchea goes really well with mumbar.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: But the mulchia is separate.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: You cook it okay, obviously.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, you know what would be like complete this like phenomenal like street food trifecta?
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: It's if I have a kibda sandwich, like kibda scandroni, Alexandrian style liver sandwiches.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So that's what we had for dinner yesterday.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: And the kids loved it.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Wow, really?
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: The kids, my uh, my husband and my nephew came over to eat with us, too.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, shocking.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Like, I could never get away with that at my I mean, I don't even eat that.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, we uh we I don't even eat that.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: We we're like very uh we're fine.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, even my my my younger son, who is like a very picky eater, he was like, Oh, this is delicious.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: He's not a picky eater.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Does he know what it is?
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, we don't lie to him.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: He's 10.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Good, he's old.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Halas.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like you don't lie to him, huh?
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: No, that's good.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: No, but there are things that he's tried before that he doesn't like.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Like he doesn't like eggplants.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: He's really tried.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my kids, my husband's always trying to get them to eat.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: He's like, it's so good.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, just give it.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: It is good.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: It is good, but I'm gonna get it.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Sometimes people just don't like certain things, and I get that.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: So he just does not like eggplants.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: And it's he's really weird about tomatoes, too.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Like he doesn't mind tomato sauce, it's just the raw tomatoes that he just can't get with it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Oh uh my son loves tomatoes, but he has to remove the seeds.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: No, he just doesn't like tomatoes at all.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: At all.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is, but yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Uh back to like non-food related discussions.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Did you see uh who's gonna buy TikTok now?
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: No, but you're the one who asked me about food, by the way.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, let's move on to the next topic.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to keep the conversation going.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Uh who?
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: They're all Zionists.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: The people buying TikTok.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: They're all Zionists.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna have our own TikTok, apparently.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: The US is gonna have it.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that that I would have 100% guessed.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, um there goes that platform.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's been gone.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: It's been gone since since they hired the uh former IDF lady.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not even it's just since the whole thing happened in January.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, when they took us offline for like a day and then brought us back, like they changed everything.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, but it's just so it's just so like depressing.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: I'm like, can someone come up with another platform?
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Because like I can't deal, I can't deal with this anymore.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: So, like, as much as I want to say, like, yes, someone can come up with another platform, the problem is you can't.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: There is one, but there's no like like I think people, there's one, I forgot what it's called.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Let me see.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: It's here.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Go ahead, finish what you were gonna say.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: What was the uh what was the uh the It's called Up Scroll, but it only has like 4,700 followers on Instagram right now.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: So I think they're just starting.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: So the I think the interesting thing is when you look at um sort of social media platforms and what they do and what they're geared towards and all of that stuff.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I think it's it's interesting to say, like, can somebody come up with something like this?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, somebody can come up with something like this.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: The problem is that how long is that thing going to live before somebody just rips it out from under your feet and and buys it for you for you know how many ever millions of dollars?
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: It's not about it's not even about the money or or or the business.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: No, but the problem is about controlling people.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: It's about controlling people and controlling the narrative, okay?
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: And and and you know, these people who are pro-Zionist, who are uh uh they were really upset.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: It's been obvious from day one, they were just like upset at how the algorithm they were saying it's pushing pro-Palestine stuff, but like that's that's the reality.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: You can't you can't faith reached a time.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I said I said, I think we've reached a time where even in buying TikTok, even in you know, throttling people's messages, the truth is out.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: I think it's a little too late for them, and like no one's gonna like I'm I haven't looked at TikTok.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: I don't think I don't think it's like look, in the in the information warfare space, it's never too late for anybody, honestly.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: I really think it's in the world of like propaganda and the creation of propaganda and all of that stuff, it's never too late for um for for it's never too late for anyone, right?
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I just noticed my cup hudding.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: You mean you mean it's fine.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: You mean like it's never too late for them to get their message across?
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but for either side, by the way, it's never too late.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: But I think this time, I think, and here's the difference, right?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Looking at if I was to look at this from a a if I was to look at this from like just like the information sharing online.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Um, and we'll compare like a different environment, for example.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: So like right now we have a genocide taking place in Gaza, right?
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: And apparently we can use that word now openly because the UN said that there's a genocide happening in Gaza.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: I joke, by the way.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it's been happening for two years, but it's like, but yeah, but now like you know, the New York Times actually printed that.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm shocked.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: I'm shocked that I'm just like a few New York Times, but whatever.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: I really think the difference between the like in this whole sort of propaganda or information space or information sharing space, um, is that for the first time ever there was such a strong push, not for the first time, there was such a strong push from outside of occupied Palestine to spread this message.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: And you noticed it, because look, there's always been like the the cool the cool phenomenon about about Palestine in general, when you look at it compared to other places, is citizen journalism.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: What I like to refer to as citizen journalism journalism has always been active, right?
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: You can tell me if I'm wrong.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: This is again my own two cents.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: If you think I'm wrong, that's totally fine, you know.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Um you can keep scrolling.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, but citizen journalism has journalism has always been active.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Um, I think this time around, uh the push of information and pushing it out to to not just like diaspora Palestinians, but beyond that, and having those folks push out the messages in their circles where maybe they weren't actively doing that before, I really think that's where the shift was.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So, like having somebody, for example, like Mohammed Hadid, right?
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Mohammed Hadid is like a real estate tycoon here in the United States, right?
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: And and outside of the US.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Uh, and he owns a caviar company, and he's like super famous for his like super luxe lifestyle on Instagram and just in real life.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Mohammed Hadid, I think this go around he look, he was always very proud of his Palestinian heritage.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: I'm never gonna take that away from him, obviously.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I think he's one of the few people in at his level and who has that many, that much to lose, who's like, I don't care, I'm gonna say what I want to anyway.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Um, I think having somebody like Mohammed Hadid at his level push things out in his little, you know, achalan of society or echelon of society, however you say that word, I think that's where things became a little bit different this time.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Does that make sense?
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: But I think, yeah, because that's why we we've had this discussion before.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I also think having people like sorry, before I've been a diaspora Palestinians who have a voice or who've been using their voice.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: So I look at like like Mohammed Hadid's daughter, right?
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Alana Hadid.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: And then I look at somebody like an author, Jinan Matari, who I like she's also lives in the US somewhere.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: She's awesome, by the way.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: I think having those people kind of join forces as this movement was taking shape and really pushing out these messages.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And what they did was, you know, they were they were.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Taking these social media posts from other places, putting it together, pushing it out, and then you know, collaborating on these messages with other people.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: I really think that changes a message's reach, right?
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: I understand, but it's not just the, I mean, the the the ones you mentioned are all Palestinian, right?
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: But I think it's bigger than that.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: And I think we've had this discussion.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: But but I what I said in the beginning, it's not, it's not just diaspora Palestinians, it's beyond that.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Because what ends up happening is people who are in those positions open the eyes of people who may not have ever had any you know uh exposure to something like this, except for having somebody like Mohammed Hadid who's a Palestinian with a friend or something like that, or a business partner.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: And then you're like, wait a minute.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: But I also feel I I also feel big like you know, TikTok in the beginning, like the people who are just posting what they saw.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And I think that alone speaks volumes.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, you don't need a Muhammad Hadith, and you don't need these people.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: But you I I know what you mean.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: I know what you're saying, that these people are affiliated or are friends with people who are who are, you know, they can they have a lot of power.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: Like they I understand.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: And that is powering.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: They have they have an audience, a reach.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: And a reach.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: But I'm saying, but the way it started, the reason TikTok is such an issue for them, and and these people at the ADL and all these Zinos organizations, this was an issue for them from day one.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: They were freaking out because they cannot control the narrative, like they can control the narrative in legacy media, yeah, in mainstream media.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, mainstream, I mean, like honestly, like people were saying some of my friends are like, oh, CBS is gonna let you know Barry Wise be the one who's gonna.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: I'm like, who cares?
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: CBS is 65 and over.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Like, who the hell is watching normal TV?
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: Like, who's watching mainstream media?
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: I still get that.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: I also think that's not like I generally don't care about that.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I because I don't think like I don't get my news from that.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: I don't get my news from these from from these people, and I think that's a loss because I don't care.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Like, that's not gonna, I mean, if you're talking about like just the the what's the word I'm looking for?
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Like, okay, yeah, okay.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: You're saying uh someone who's uh who's obviously pro-Zionist is gonna control CBS.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Like, I get that, but at the end of the day, like who is watching CBS?
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Nobody, nobody's watching CBS news, okay?
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll watch CBS if there's a football game on, or I'll watch CBS if there's something like that's that's happening.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know, like something with sports.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: That's literally the only time I'll tune in.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, but I'm not gonna tune in for the news, and that's the problem with legacy legacy media.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: More and more people, like right now, I spend most of my time watching YouTube, independent media.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't want to go off on a tangent, but legacy media is no longer relevant.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: People are getting their news from independent sources, like on YouTube.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I'm constantly watching that, and then you watch this stuff, and I'm not like usually I watch stuff that I agree with, but in the past couple of weeks, I'm like, let me see.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you watch other things, yeah.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: You watch other things, and like when you're watching this stuff and when you're in it and you're you're you're consuming this stuff, it makes you feel like the world is falling apart.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: The world is falling apart, it kind of is, and then I when you when I see like when I talk to other people, like coworkers, friends, whatever, and who aren't in tune with that, it's it's just it's like oh like they're just me, they're a whole different world.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: But like I think, like going back to the TikTok thing, this is why they want to control it.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: It's so obvious they want a certain narrative because they feel like this is where most people are because all of us, whether you're you're you're 13 years old or whether you're 60 years old, you're on social media.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: See what happens when we don't plan episodes and we just have a con like a just a chill hangout.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I'm saying, but like this is a big deal, and I don't think I'm gonna be using TikTok, Hanan.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: It is a big deal.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: It's it's just like I don't care about it.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: Like, I even in the past like three, four months, our Instagram has done so much better.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Like the algorithm on Instagram has been so much better, and we don't even get too like deep into the stuff.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I'm just like, what is going on?
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Like there's certain things being suppressed, and I'm like, I don't want to deal with that, and I really, really hope that someone comes up with another app, you know, because I don't want, I don't wanna, I don't wanna be a part of this.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Like, if they're gonna, if I'm gonna have, we're gonna have our own TikTok and these people are gonna decide what's allowed and what's not allowed, like what the hell?
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: Like, where where is where's my freedom of expression?
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: As long as I'm not trying to hurt someone, as long as I'm not trying to incite bias.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just so depressing.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: I and like I like these things, like I hear, and I'm just like, and then the Ben and Jerry's dude.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Like this guy, they just like t mesquine, like they just like pushed him away.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: He's like, I can't deal with this anymore.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: That that was crazy.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: That that I did see.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Like, what is going on?
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: Like this poor guy, his entire life, he's dedicated to you know, supporting the community, for you know, speaking up about like, you know, human rights.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Ice cream.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: To just good ice cream.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: It's good ice cream, but I'm just like, yeah, and it what's the word?
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: Like, they just they wore him down.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Like, I can't do this.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: They literally they wore him down.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: They're just like, you know what?
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: They chipped away at him so slowly that he just it's one of those things that they're like, we're not gonna get rid of you, we're gonna make you like leave on your own.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: That's so sad.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: That's what happened.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: That's so sad.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Like, it's his goddamn company, man.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Like, he he can decide if he wants to sell certain certain in certain places or not.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: He's not gonna be talking about it.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: That's so sad.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: And that's what I was saying earlier about like whatever, like a like another thing, another social media app.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Like, that's it.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: At some point, money talks, and when money talks and people sell stuff, you don't have rights to things anymore.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: And it's not money talks, they just want to control the narrative.
