Transcript
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:14Speaker 1: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: today we're joined by Steve Ranella, Giannis Putellis, Brody Henderson, Chester,
- 0:22Speaker 1: Floyd Krin Schneider, Corry Caulkins, Randall Williams, and Seth Morris.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This is normally a ten round quiz show with questions
- 0:29Speaker 1: from Meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation
- 0:33Speaker 1: and cooking.
- 0:34Speaker 2: But today's show is a little different.
- 0:35Speaker 1: This is our Christmas episode of Meat Eater Trivia, which
- 0:39Speaker 1: has historically been family feud. Now Steve hates when we
- 0:42Speaker 1: play this game, and in the past he's been very.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Vocal about it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Steve, would you like to tell us why you don't
- 0:48Speaker 1: like this?
- 0:49Speaker 2: I don't like it because Philip, you turn my things up.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Oh jeez, that's reason number one.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Yeah. I can't hear anything either.
- 0:59Speaker 2: It's getting back better, Thank you, phil I just wanted
- 1:03Speaker 2: to hear my own description why I don't like it. Sure.
- 1:06Speaker 5: What I don't like about it is what they're asking
- 1:09Speaker 5: you is they're asking you what a bunch of unvetted.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yea who's think about something?
- 1:14Speaker 5: So you go out, and I don't know where you
- 1:16Speaker 5: find them. You find a bunch of could be total idiots, I.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Don't know, like outside of a sears insah, and you
- 1:22Speaker 1: go like, hey, what's your name?
- 1:26Speaker 2: A shape of Christmas cookie? Okay?
- 1:28Speaker 5: And so then these unvetted yeah, who's name Christmas cookie shapes?
- 1:33Speaker 5: Some amount of time goes by and then you ask someone.
- 1:37Speaker 5: When you ask a bunch of unvetted yea, who's what
- 1:41Speaker 5: they think of when they think of Christmas cookies? What
- 1:44Speaker 5: did they say?
- 1:48Speaker 2: You don't like that?
- 1:49Speaker 4: No, you have to put yourself in whose shoes?
- 1:53Speaker 2: I never even met them. It's just like, it's just
- 1:57Speaker 2: it's just a waste of time.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Sure, well you sort of described why you don't like
- 2:01Speaker 1: it there. But Phil has also put together a compilation
- 2:04Speaker 1: of you bringing the holiday cheer to last year's Christmas
- 2:07Speaker 1: episode and play the clip Phil show me Jesus not
- 2:14Speaker 1: on the.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Man War on Christmas. Here's the whole thing, Like, who
- 2:20Speaker 2: cares about these hundred people?
- 2:21Speaker 6: I don't know what kind of idiots they're asking.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's like, do you solve all life?
- 2:26Speaker 5: You solve all your problems about randomly asking people what
- 2:29Speaker 5: they think. It's totally uncredentialed strangers what they think it's
- 2:33Speaker 5: called voting.
- 2:35Speaker 4: People aren't listening.
- 2:36Speaker 2: To the question.
- 2:37Speaker 6: You said, what do you need to wrap a present?
- 2:40Speaker 6: So it's like you're implying like that there's a present.
- 2:45Speaker 6: If you said what do I need to dress a person?
- 2:47Speaker 6: You wouldn't go a person.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It is so stupid. Can you imagine the subjects of
- 2:52Speaker 2: these surveys in some way or another? This would be
- 2:55Speaker 2: like a completely different process. It's just half of all
- 2:58Speaker 2: paper pulse.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And then to ask them, Steve, you can just sit
- 3:03Speaker 1: it out next year if you like, I'm not coming.
- 3:07Speaker 2: There's no way in hell I'm playing that.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Next year, man, because I'd have to know who the
- 3:11Speaker 6: hundred people are.
- 3:12Speaker 1: That sound familiar, Steve, you remember sharing those opinions.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I'm surprised I'll consistent my opinion a year later.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And Steve, I've got some good news and some bad
- 3:22Speaker 1: news for you today. The bad news is we're playing
- 3:25Speaker 1: Family Feud again this year. This whole episode is Family Feud.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Here's the good news. These are questions that I came
- 3:31Speaker 1: up with, so it doesn't feel like an episode from
- 3:33Speaker 1: the game show network, and the people interviewed were meat
- 3:37Speaker 1: eater employees and meet eater listeners. So you can't complain
- 3:40Speaker 1: about their answers. Or you could, but then I'd remind
- 3:43Speaker 1: you that these are your fans and your colleagues.
- 3:45Speaker 7: Oh, he'll complain about them more.
- 3:50Speaker 2: So I came through this part and leave.
- 3:53Speaker 4: He made that.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Threat, and I said, okay, if you want to leave.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I thought there was a chance Steve was gonna get
- 3:58Speaker 1: up and leave.
- 3:58Speaker 2: We'd have to ask Randall parking lot of what we're doing.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You didn't even know.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And here you are. Now here's how this is going
- 4:05Speaker 1: to work. Our crew is split up into two teams.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Each round will start with a player from each team
- 4:11Speaker 1: facing off to determine who gets control of the board.
- 4:14Speaker 1: During the faceoff, whoever provides the highest ranking answer we'll
- 4:17Speaker 1: get to choose if their team passes or plays. During
- 4:20Speaker 1: main play, each team member will provide answers they think
- 4:23Speaker 1: are on the board. If you get one wrong, you'll
- 4:26Speaker 1: hear this. If you get one right, you'll hear this.
- 4:35Speaker 1: If you get three strikes, then the other team gets
- 4:37Speaker 1: a chance to steal. When a steal happens, the entire
- 4:40Speaker 1: team gets to come together to decide on an answer,
- 4:43Speaker 1: which their captain will provide. There are four rounds, with
- 4:47Speaker 1: the point values being doubled in round three and tripled
- 4:50Speaker 1: in round four. The team with the most points at
- 4:53Speaker 1: the end will get to choose where the five hundred
- 4:55Speaker 1: dollars conservation donation goes. They then get to play fast
- 4:58Speaker 1: money for a chance to add another one hundred dollars
- 5:01Speaker 1: to that donation.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Culture has agreed on what outer space sounds like. Like
- 5:09Speaker 5: you never show outer space in a documentary and have
- 5:13Speaker 5: someone playing a banjo.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yes, it's like a right, how did How does a
- 5:21Speaker 2: bell mean you got it right? I don't know. It's
- 5:28Speaker 2: it's more, it's more has decided that a bell is
- 5:32Speaker 2: you got it right?
- 5:34Speaker 1: It's just uplifting the other one. It's like kind of
- 5:36Speaker 1: hurts to get that.
- 5:37Speaker 2: That one sounds very negative.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Shrink down now to remind everyone how this is going
- 5:42Speaker 1: to work. Or we're going to do a practice round
- 5:43Speaker 1: face off where it's Steve against Yanni. This is just
- 5:47Speaker 1: the face off. This is how we will start each round.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Do you guys understand what you're about to do? You
- 5:51Speaker 1: have your bells.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I've never understood this. You have your.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Bells in front of you. I am going to ask
- 5:56Speaker 1: you this prompt, the first one who rings in gets
- 5:59Speaker 1: to provide the answer. Right, So if Yanni rings in,
- 6:01Speaker 1: he gets to provide the answer. If he gets the
- 6:04Speaker 1: number one answer, it's over. He gets to decide if
- 6:07Speaker 1: his team is going to pass or play. If he
- 6:09Speaker 1: doesn't get the number one answer, say he gives an
- 6:11Speaker 1: answer that's not on the board, or he gives a
- 6:13Speaker 1: second or third or fourth best answer, you get a
- 6:15Speaker 1: chance to trump him and provide a better ranking answer.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Just me, just to you. Thanks, that's all much clearer.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Now, Okay, this is why we're going This is why
- 6:24Speaker 1: you don't have to know what's going on.
- 6:26Speaker 2: This is why we're going to do a practice round.
- 6:28Speaker 2: What do you got Chester?
- 6:29Speaker 8: Didn't we have whiteboards last year? Because how are we
- 6:32Speaker 8: all going to be like try and figure out? Or
- 6:35Speaker 8: is it individual?
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's individual. The only time your team will come together
- 6:39Speaker 1: as a group is if your team is stealing. I
- 6:41Speaker 1: will acknowledge when that's going to happen, so you know
- 6:44Speaker 1: when it's time to.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Put your heads together. So you're going to ask me
- 6:47Speaker 2: a question.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you and Yanni a question, and
- 6:51Speaker 1: then you're going to ring in when you think you
- 6:53Speaker 1: know the answer.
- 6:54Speaker 7: Don't hit it too hard or it doesn't make any noise.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 6:58Speaker 1: He's just a practice here, This is just a practice. Okay.
- 7:03Speaker 5: If there's ten right answers, I feel like I'll know
- 7:05Speaker 5: an answer right off the bat.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Top five answers are on the board. Name a Christmas
- 7:11Speaker 1: cartoon that plays on TV.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Every Steve was first.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Steve, you get to give the answer Charlie Brown's Christmas
- 7:16Speaker 1: Charlie Bound number two answer twenty six people said that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So now here is where this Yanni would get a
- 7:22Speaker 1: chance to trumpet? Yanni, can you provide the number one answer?
- 7:28Speaker 4: Rudolph the red nose reindeer.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Rudolph, show me Rudolph, that is the number one answer.
- 7:35Speaker 1: In a second practice, we will have a screen behind.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Here's what would happen, Yanni. You would get to choose
- 7:40Speaker 1: if your team is going to pass or play this category. Okay, understand,
- 7:44Speaker 1: he got number one? He got number one, you got
- 7:46Speaker 1: number two?
- 7:47Speaker 2: And how many?
- 7:48Speaker 4: Is it five?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Top five?
- 7:49Speaker 2: In that case?
- 7:51Speaker 1: You think you understand that?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Okay, Now over here we've.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Got the Steve Ranella family. Steve introduces to your team
- 7:58Speaker 1: the way you would as if they were your family.
- 8:03Speaker 1: But you got sit next to you. Understand, Just tell
- 8:05Speaker 1: us who's on your team.
- 8:06Speaker 2: That's all I'm here with Brody Henderson show exactly.
- 8:12Speaker 1: That's exactly what they do. Juster Floyd'd say he lives
- 8:14Speaker 1: in a trailer park in welds for people. This custom welding,
- 8:18Speaker 1: something like that.
- 8:20Speaker 2: He lives.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Brody lives here in town. He is a former fishing guide,
- 8:25Speaker 5: a dedicated father of two.
- 8:27Speaker 2: That was a lovely wife. It's a great detail. Former
- 8:32Speaker 2: fishing guide, dedicated father of one. Okay has a lovely
- 8:37Speaker 2: wife who's a photographer and cringe schnyder, untested in the
- 8:42Speaker 2: parenting realm, has dogs, untested in the wife realm, who knows.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Okay very good. And they're going against the Yanni Boutelli's family.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yanni introduced us to your team. Steve has set the
- 8:59Speaker 1: bar are quite high.
- 9:01Speaker 9: Old Spencer today, I brought all my brothers with me.
- 9:04Speaker 9: Now we got the same daddy, but different mothers. I
- 9:08Speaker 9: brought a Randall here. He got daddy smarts. He's a doctor,
- 9:12Speaker 9: ehd My brother seth over here. Well, he landed in
- 9:19Speaker 9: the same pile with me, and we're just haunting fishing dudes.
- 9:22Speaker 9: And then down there at the end my other brother Corey,
- 9:26Speaker 9: who uh, he's the one that looks most like a
- 9:29Speaker 9: Christmas elf with that cute little red beerd.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Be the elves little very good?
- 9:41Speaker 1: Is everyone ready to play the feud?
- 9:44Speaker 2: Hit the music?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Phil? And normally you'd clapped during this part, He's like
- 9:48Speaker 1: clapping the head.
- 9:52Speaker 10: There you go.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You you called one hundred people.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I surveyed one hundred people. Half of them were your employee,
- 10:00Speaker 1: half of them were meat eater fans.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Holy cow, wan did that day.
- 10:04Speaker 2: It was very quick.
- 10:04Speaker 1: He was using a Google form so I could capture
- 10:07Speaker 1: their answers and then go in and comb through them.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Here we go the first round. We have Steve versus Yanni.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Are we ready?
- 10:15Speaker 1: We're doing the same thing over again, same thing over again.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Are we ready? Phil?
- 10:19Speaker 1: Are we ready? I'm gonna need your help to see
- 10:22Speaker 1: who hits the bell first. Last year we had a
- 10:24Speaker 1: problem with that, so we're gonna trust that everyone.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Steve drank a little too much.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Cough.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Here we go. I surveyed one hundred people. Top five
- 10:34Speaker 1: answers are on the board. If Seth and Chester were
- 10:37Speaker 1: wise men, what gifts would they bring?
- 10:40Speaker 2: I think we had the problem is I'm already reading it.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I think we had Steve first, Steve earlier, we are
- 10:47Speaker 1: what do you mean we are pretty wise? You're running
- 10:53Speaker 1: out of time. This needs to be quick.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Uh fission lures, walleyelures.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Steve says, show me what lures. Number two answer on
- 11:05Speaker 1: the board phishing tackle. Thirty four people said it. That
- 11:08Speaker 1: means that Yanni has a chance to steal Yanni. If
- 11:11Speaker 1: you can provide the number one answer, tell me if
- 11:13Speaker 1: Seth and Chester were wise men, what gifts would they
- 11:16Speaker 1: bring Yanni?
- 11:21Speaker 4: Oh? Gee, how much time do I ask?
- 11:23Speaker 1: You're running out of it? What gifts would Chester Yanni?
- 11:29Speaker 9: Seth?
- 11:30Speaker 2: Fishing tackle?
- 11:31Speaker 4: First, ammunition?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Ammunition?
- 11:34Speaker 2: Show me ammunition?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Long, Steve, you get to choose now if your team
- 11:41Speaker 1: is going to pass or play this question as a reminder.
- 11:44Speaker 1: If you play and you get three strikes, that means
- 11:47Speaker 1: their chance their team gets a chance to steal. So
- 11:49Speaker 1: your team need to come up with all five answers. Man,
- 11:52Speaker 1: this is tough because I don't even know what i'd
- 11:54Speaker 1: bring steel Steever, are you going to pass or play?
- 11:57Speaker 2: It's more fun to play? Oh, I don't really understand
- 11:59Speaker 2: you to play, Brody. We are up to you.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I surveyed one hundred people, and I said, if Seth
- 12:06Speaker 1: and Chester were wise men, what gifts would they bring?
- 12:08Speaker 2: I shouldn't be talking to him. No, this is individual here.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I know one for sure.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Beer.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Don't tell him show me beer.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Number four answer was alcohol on.
- 12:24Speaker 2: This TV show? Are they as generous as your being?
- 12:28Speaker 5: With answers like walleye jigs became fishing tackles, Chester were
- 12:32Speaker 5: up to you.
- 12:33Speaker 1: If you and Seth were wise men, what gifts would you?
- 12:36Speaker 1: What gifts would you bring?
- 12:39Speaker 3: Man?
- 12:39Speaker 1: We've had two correct answers given there are three left.
- 12:42Speaker 2: We've had something on there Chester.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The number two and the number four have been said.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That means one, three and five are left Chester so
- 12:49Speaker 1: many things themself they cannot quite yet a little note?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Did not Chester give me your answer?
- 12:59Speaker 8: Dude?
- 12:59Speaker 2: What would you ring?
- 13:00Speaker 1: What would I bring?
- 13:01Speaker 2: I'm sure you're like, I'm not telling them something. I'm
- 13:04Speaker 2: just saying think about it. Think about what these guys brought?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Gold like the price is not an object?
- 13:11Speaker 4: Is getting a little.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Frankinson?
- 13:14Speaker 4: Come on, come on, Murder.
- 13:16Speaker 7: I don't think you're healthy.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Sky's the living right? What would bring that? Jesus if
- 13:24Speaker 2: you were the wise man, I would say furs. Show me.
- 13:33Speaker 1: That is your first strike.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I know what's number one of them?
- 13:36Speaker 1: Nobody said first, Kuren, your team has one strike. Now,
- 13:40Speaker 1: if Seth and Chester were wise men, what gifts would
- 13:42Speaker 1: they bring?
- 13:44Speaker 4: Filaso fish?
- 13:47Speaker 1: Karenna file a fish? Show me filet of fish?
- 13:53Speaker 2: No answer.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Walleye.
- 13:58Speaker 1: One people surveyed said that we are now up to Steve.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'll remind our audience we've had the first, second and
- 14:06Speaker 1: fourth answer given, there are three and five left. My god,
- 14:11Speaker 1: Steve says that Seth and Chester would.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Bring a walleye boat. Show me walleye boat.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Not on there? Your team has strikes, Brody game. Last time,
- 14:25Speaker 1: Brody said beer, which was the number four answer. Your
- 14:28Speaker 1: team now has two strikes. Here's what's on the line.
- 14:30Speaker 1: If you don't get this right, then we will go
- 14:32Speaker 1: to the Putellis family, who will have a chance to
- 14:35Speaker 1: come together to discuss what they think their answer would be.
- 14:38Speaker 1: If they would then provide the right answer, they steal
- 14:40Speaker 1: the points. If they get it wrong, then the Ranella
- 14:43Speaker 1: family wins. Brody, tell me, if Seth and Chester were
- 14:46Speaker 1: wise men, what gifts would they bring?
- 14:49Speaker 4: So so far, this is looking like a typical weekend
- 14:51Speaker 4: for Chester.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Walleye, fishing tackle, and alcohol.
- 14:57Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Dear me, show me, dear meat.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Not on the board. That is three strikes for the
- 15:06Speaker 1: Renelle family. We are over to the Utellist family. There
- 15:08Speaker 1: are two left on the board, number three and number
- 15:12Speaker 1: five answer. They are now coming together to discuss. You
- 15:15Speaker 1: can talk aloud. There's nothing on the line. If you
- 15:17Speaker 1: get this wrong and you're thinking about.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Starts.
- 15:22Speaker 2: A lot of people know.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Me as the flip flop flush or maybe it's flip
- 15:25Speaker 3: flops like that. That could be good.
- 15:27Speaker 4: What about just like a hunting gear?
- 15:36Speaker 1: When suggested hunting gear, his opponent Steve said, a camera.
- 15:42Speaker 7: Guitar, guitar, cameras guitars.
- 15:49Speaker 2: The problem there is that they don't both play guitar.
- 15:53Speaker 4: We don't both choose in either.
- 15:56Speaker 3: That's just yester.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I'll remind you of the problem. If Seth and Chester
- 16:01Speaker 1: were wise men, what gifts would they bring? The correct
- 16:03Speaker 1: answers provided where the number one answer walleye, the number
- 16:06Speaker 1: two answer fishing tackle, the number four answer alcohol. Yanni,
- 16:10Speaker 1: we are going to need your family to provide an answer.
- 16:14Speaker 1: What are you going to decide on?
- 16:16Speaker 4: What's it going to be brothers.
- 16:21Speaker 3: The flops flight caps.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Sure, we're gonna go flip flops.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Show me flip flops.
- 16:29Speaker 1: On the board. That means the Renelle family takes the points. Uh,
- 16:33Speaker 1: we have number three and number five left. Cheese, kurty.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Do you have any other guesses you want to throw
- 16:39Speaker 1: out there? Number three was baits and number five was
- 16:44Speaker 1: canned food.
- 16:47Speaker 2: You're right, it is a bunch of idiots. Who are
- 16:50Speaker 2: these people? Now?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Phil? Are you keeping score or no?
- 16:54Speaker 3: I have not been. If someone someone else could do that,
- 16:56Speaker 3: I'd be a big help.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Okay, we'll work on that.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, we're now on to round two. That means it
- 17:03Speaker 1: would be Brody against Randall.
- 17:05Speaker 4: All right, Randy, are you ready?
- 17:08Speaker 1: M M Phil?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Don't show us quite yet?
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we go. I'll hold off this time. Give me.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I gotta figure out how to It's the first time
- 17:16Speaker 3: I've done this and so.
