Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 18th.
- 0:11Walking in kindness and integrity.
- 0:13Sometimes kindness looks small in the moment.
- 0:17A word of respect, A quiet act of generosity.
- 0:20Choosing not to mock someone who is already hurting.
- 0:23Refusing to overlook the person everyone else ignores.
- 0:27But in God's eyes, those moments are never small.
- 0:31Proverbs chapter 14, verse 21 says whoever despises his
- 0:35neighbor is a Sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to
- 0:38the poor. That verse reaches beyond money.
- 0:41It speaks to posture. How do you see people with
- 0:45contempt, indifference, superiority, or compassion?
- 0:49Psalm 44 shows the honesty of God's people in hard times.
- 0:54They cry out with confusion and pain, asking where God is in
- 0:57their suffering. That reminds us that faith does
- 1:00not always feel polished. Sometimes it is raw and real.
- 1:04Then Romans chapter 2 reminds us that God judges rightly.
- 1:08He sees not only what we do, but the heart behind it.
- 1:11He sees what no one else sees. That means integrity matters
- 1:15deeply. Who you are when no one is
- 1:18watching matters. How you treat people who cannot
- 1:21help you matters. Whether you choose kindness when
- 1:23it is inconvenient matters. God is shaping your character in
- 1:28those hidden places. It is easy to be swept up in
- 1:31pressure, competition, and self focus.
- 1:35Life can make you feel like you need to protect your image, push
- 1:38ahead, and worry mostly about yourself.
- 1:41But Jesus calls you to another way.
- 1:43He calls you to live with mercy, honesty, and steady faith.
- 1:47To be kind in a harsh world is not weakness.
- 1:50It is evidence of a heart being formed by God.
- 1:53So today, pay attention to the little moments.
- 1:56The overlooked person, the chance to help, the choice to
- 2:00speak gently instead of sharply, the decision to remain honest
- 2:04even when you could easily cut corners.
- 2:06Those small acts are building something in you.
- 2:09They are shaping a life of integrity.
- 2:12Let your faith show up, not only in worship, but in the way you
- 2:15treat people. Let's pray.
- 2:17Heavenly Father, thank you for caring about both my actions and
- 2:20my heart. Help me walk in kindness toward
- 2:23others, especially when it is easy to be selfish or
- 2:27indifferent. Teach me to live with integrity
- 2:29in public and in private when life feels hard or unfair.
- 2:34Help me stay faithful and trust that you see every hidden
- 2:36choice. Make my life reflect Your
- 2:38compassion, truth and love in Jesus name, Amen.

- 3:44Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:47Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 14 verse 21
- 3:53World English Bible He who despises his neighbor sins, but
- 3:57he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
- 3:59Psalm Chapter 44 World English Bible for the Chief Musician by
- 4:05the Sons of Korah. A contemplative Psalm we have
- 4:08heard with our ears. God, our fathers have told us
- 4:11what work you did in their days. In the days of old You drove out
- 4:15the nations with your hand, but you planted them.
- 4:18You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
- 4:22For they didn't get the land in possession by their own sword.
- 4:25Neither did their own arms save them but your right hand, your
- 4:29arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to
- 4:31them. God, you are my king.
- 4:35Command victories for Jacob. Through you we will push down
- 4:38our adversaries. Through your name we will tread
- 4:40down those who rise up against us.
- 4:43For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
- 4:47But you have saved us from our adversaries and have shamed
- 4:50those who hate us. In God, we have made our boast
- 4:53all day long. We will give thanks to your name
- 4:56forever. Selah.
- 4:58But now you rejected us and brought us to dishonor.
- 5:00And don't go out with our armies.
- 5:02You make us turn back from the adversary.
- 5:05Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
- 5:08You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us
- 5:11among the nations. You sell your people for
- 5:14nothing, and have gained nothing from their sail.
- 5:17You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a
- 5:20derision to those who are around us.
- 5:23You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head
- 5:27among the peoples. All day long my dishonor is
- 5:30before me, and shame covers my face at the taunt of one who
- 5:34reproaches and verbally abuses because of the enemy and the
- 5:38Avenger. All this has come on us, yet we
- 5:41haven't forgotten you. We haven't been false to your
- 5:44covenant. Our heart has not turned back,
- 5:47neither have our steps strayed from your path, though you have
- 5:50crushed us in the haunt of jackals and covered us with the
- 5:53shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of
- 5:56our God or spread out our hands to a strange God, won't God
- 6:00search this out, for he knows the secrets of the heart.
- 6:04Yes, for your sake, we are killed all day long.
- 6:06We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
- 6:08Wake up. Why do you sleep?
- 6:10Lord, arise, Don't reject us forever.
- 6:13Why do you hide your face and forget our affliction and our
- 6:16oppression? For our soul is bowed down to
- 6:18the dust, Our body clings to the earth.
- 6:21Rise up to help us, redeem us for your loving kindness sake.
- 6:26Romans Chapter 2 World English Bible Therefore you are without
- 6:30excuse. Oh man, whoever you are who
- 6:32judge, for in that which you judge another, you condemn
- 6:36yourself. For you who judge practice the
- 6:38same things. We know that the judgement of
- 6:40God is according to truth against those who practice such
- 6:43things. Do you think this Oh man who
- 6:46judges those who practice such things and do the same, that you
- 6:50will escape the judgement of God?
- 6:53Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance and
- 6:56patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to
- 6:59repentance, But according to your hardness and unrepentant
- 7:03heart, you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of
- 7:06wrath revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God, who
- 7:11will pay back to everyone according to their works.
- 7:14To those who by perseverance in well doing, seek for glory,
- 7:17honor and incorruptibility, eternal life.
- 7:21But to those who are self seeking and don't obey the
- 7:24truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation,
- 7:28oppression and anguish on every soul of man who does evil to the
- 7:32Jew 1st and also to the Greek. But glory, honor and peace go to
- 7:38every man who does good to the Jew 1st and also to the Greek.
- 7:42For there is no partiality with God.
- 7:45For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish
- 7:48without the law. As many as have sinned under the
- 7:51law will be judged by the law. For it isn't the hearers of the
- 7:55law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law
- 7:58will be justified. For when Gentiles who don't have
- 8:01the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having
- 8:05the law, are a law to themselves, in that they show
- 8:08the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience
- 8:11testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves,
- 8:15accusing or else excusing them. In the day when God will judge
- 8:19the secrets of men according to my good news by Jesus Christ.
- 8:24Indeed, you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in
- 8:27God, know His will, and approve the things that are excellent.
- 8:31Being instructed out of the law, and are confident that you
- 8:35yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are
- 8:38in darkness, a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies,
- 8:43having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
- 8:46You therefore who teach another, don't you teach yourself?
- 8:49You who preach that a man shouldn't steal, do you steal?
- 8:52You who say a man shouldn't commit adultery, do you commit
- 8:55adultery? You who abort idols, do you rob
- 8:58temples? You who glory in the law, do you
- 9:01dishonor God by disobeying the Law?
- 9:04For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles
- 9:07because of you, just as it is written For circumcision.
- 9:11Indeed, profits if you are a doer of the law, but if you are
- 9:15a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become
- 9:18uncircumcision. If therefore, the uncircumcised
- 9:21keep the ordinances of the law, won't his uncircumcision be
- 9:25accounted as circumcision? Won't those who are physically
- 9:29uncircumcised but fulfill the law judge you who with the
- 9:33letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
- 9:37For he is not a Jew who is 1 outwardly, Neither is that
- 9:40circumcision which is outward in the flesh.
- 9:43But he is a Jew who is 1 inwardly.
- 9:45And circumcision is that of the heart in the Spirit, not in the
- 9:49letter, whose praise is not from men, but from God.
