- 0:00Speaker 1: Wife.
- 0:00Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, I mean from devorce he lived.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You can read the book. Three am was not a
- 0:06Speaker 2: big deal for him to pop into the facility Monday morning,
- 0:09Speaker 2: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, three am. That's just that's seven
- 0:15Speaker 2: am to Sean Payton, go home, lay down at ten thirty,
- 0:19Speaker 2: wake up at two thirty, shower in the be in
- 0:23Speaker 2: the facility, trying to win a Lombardi Trophy, winning in
- 0:30Speaker 2: which a lot of people didn't really give the Saints
- 0:32Speaker 2: a chance when they went down there and played the
- 0:33Speaker 2: Colts because Peyton was so big then he was, I mean,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Peyton was even though he had not had a title,
- 0:40Speaker 2: he did not have a title, he was the driving force,
- 0:45Speaker 2: you know.
- 0:46Speaker 1: He and maybe Brady wasn't even at this point. You know,
- 0:51Speaker 1: he was with.
- 0:51Speaker 2: The Patriot Empire and they were winning, but there was
- 0:55Speaker 2: a shadow there Peyton. Peyton was like individually the face
- 1:01Speaker 2: of the NFL. Yes, and y'all remember the march into
- 1:05Speaker 2: Miami in the Super Bowl and it was all Peyton
- 1:09Speaker 2: and people were dying for him to win one.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And yet here you had the Saints who were four
- 1:16Speaker 2: years removed from Katrina and they were in it too,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and it's just a it's an incredible story of Drew
- 1:27Speaker 2: Brees and Sean Pate and that audio the Resurrection. I
- 1:31Speaker 2: was going to be a part of the resurrection of
- 1:35Speaker 2: one of America's greatest cities period. And then the what
- 1:44Speaker 2: the restaurants just you know, when the restaurant that's why
- 1:47Speaker 2: the driving force is always the restaurants it is, it's
- 1:52Speaker 2: always culinary, it's always the creative. That's why you see
- 1:56Speaker 2: what's happening in Fondred and Bell Haven is is that
- 2:00Speaker 2: people together communal community, and then people want to live there,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and people want to rent renovate spaces and apartments and
- 2:10Speaker 2: flats and condos and y'all. That's how it happens. There's
- 2:12Speaker 2: a great book, The Flight of the Creative Class. It's amazing.
- 2:15Speaker 2: It goes straight through what I'm talking about. And it's
- 2:21Speaker 2: it's proof culinary drives it all. It does. Once restaurants, bars, bakeries,
- 2:28Speaker 2: delis start popping up, people want young people usually want
- 2:32Speaker 2: to live there. When when the restaurant tours in America realized,
- 2:38Speaker 2: hold on, here's an opportunity to come into New Orleans
- 2:41Speaker 2: even at during the reboot and the resurrection boom and
- 2:47Speaker 2: then Drew gave y'all all those sundays where you knew
- 2:50Speaker 2: you will. You went in thinking we're winning. Yeah, w
- 2:54Speaker 2: we're winning. We have Drew Brees and Sean Payton. We're winning.
- 2:58Speaker 2: It's what old miss has thought the last seven We
- 3:00Speaker 2: have Lane Kiffen and Jackson Dark.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We're winning. Fair, we have Dan Mullen and Dak Prescott.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We're winning. When you walk through the.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Gates of bought Hemingway and Davis Wade, when you're aligned
- 3:14Speaker 2: and you have the right people and you know you've
- 3:16Speaker 2: got a hell of a shot to win the game,
- 3:20Speaker 2: there's nothing like it. I mean, it's all Bama has
- 3:23Speaker 2: ever known. It's all LSU's known since Saban, It's all
- 3:26Speaker 2: George is known for a long time. But when you
- 3:29Speaker 2: walk through the stadium and they scan your ticket or
- 3:34Speaker 2: your badge, and you know, when toe meets leather, we've
- 3:41Speaker 2: got just as good a shot as they do.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I don't care what's on the front of their jersey.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Because of who we have wearing the headsets and who
- 3:50Speaker 2: we have taking the snap, we got a shot totally different.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You walked in to what was the Mercedes Bens, now
- 3:59Speaker 2: the Caesars Super.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Thinking we're gonna win. Yeah, this is our Sunday.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We own this place, and they won ten, eleven, twelve,
- 4:13Speaker 2: thirteen games depending on the years. Hell y'all ran around
- 4:18Speaker 2: when the Saints went nine and seven, like, oh my gosh,
- 4:20Speaker 2: we just went to in fourteen.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I went no.
- 4:22Speaker 3: No.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I remember too in fourteen as a kid sitting in
- 4:26Speaker 2: on the fifty yard line with nobody near me, I
- 4:28Speaker 2: could have thrown up a tailgate tent, that's how many
- 4:30Speaker 2: people were around me. Drew Brees Pro Football Hall of
- 4:38Speaker 2: Fame August eighth.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you're gonna be crying. Yeah. People will
- 4:43Speaker 1: be losing their New Orleans will be throwing parties.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Should in the quarter in the Warehouse district in Metaie
- 4:51Speaker 2: uptown Midtown, you know where Saint Charles and Carrollton meet,
- 4:56Speaker 2: which is some of the greatest restaurants in the world,
- 5:00Speaker 2: the Marine, you name it, Frenchman's. They're going to be partying, celebrating.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Drew and Sean will be there and others. Marquis Colston
- 5:11Speaker 2: will be in town, and Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush
- 5:16Speaker 2: and uh, you know guys for day. Oh you mentioned
- 5:19Speaker 2: the tight end. Yeah, Jimmy Graham, who was so good
- 5:24Speaker 2: in New Orleans under Sean and Drew and then couldn't
- 5:29Speaker 2: catch more than three passes with the Seahawks. That's how
- 5:32Speaker 2: good Shawn and Drew are. They made Marquis Colston a
- 5:36Speaker 2: seventh round pick or something. Hofstra an unbelievable football player.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Pierre Thomas, oh man, we got to get Pierre on
- 5:49Speaker 2: the show. It's been a minute. He's got a talk breeze. Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 2: we're doing that.
- 5:54Speaker 4: You know, from nineteen sixty seven talk to me to
- 5:58Speaker 4: nineteen scaped me all the way two thousand, they had
- 6:03Speaker 4: four double digit win seasons, Okay, all of which came
- 6:08Speaker 4: you know in the eighty seven.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Right, Laura.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Four linebackers that we always talk about, Ricky Jackson, Mills,
- 6:16Speaker 2: Swilling and what bond.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty years, you never won over nine yet you
- 6:20Speaker 1: never won over eight games. Okay.
- 6:22Speaker 4: He only won eight games twice.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Okay, usually at four and all Sean and Drew did
- 6:27Speaker 1: was Dubbs, Dubbs. This is crazy.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I never thought I'd be there on a Monday night
- 6:33Speaker 2: like I was years ago, in a packed superdome where
- 6:40Speaker 2: you could not hear anything, and rush agent and I
- 6:46Speaker 2: went down there and we bush takes, you know, two
- 6:54Speaker 2: kicks back and almost a third and at that point
- 6:58Speaker 2: we've got these great sea on the twenty five on
- 7:01Speaker 2: like row twenty, and the dome is upside down.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's it's pandemonium. It was.
- 7:10Speaker 2: It was one of the most fun sports experiences of
- 7:15Speaker 2: my life. Crazy because I'd been in there as a
- 7:18Speaker 2: kid when I could have heard you four sections over
- 7:23Speaker 2: eating your nachos. I mean, I finally got to the
- 7:27Speaker 2: point where I told my aunt, I don't.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Really want the tickets. Who STU does that? NFL?
- 7:32Speaker 2: If anybody wants to invite me to an NFL game,
- 7:34Speaker 2: I'm in what I mean, NFL and NBA, I mean
- 7:39Speaker 2: pro pro games are just tons of fun. And so anyway, uh,
- 7:48Speaker 2: what is this from Todd? By the way, we got
- 7:50Speaker 2: Mike Attillier on at eight thirty. We may even talk
- 7:52Speaker 2: more Drew Brees. I know we've done a big hit
- 7:56Speaker 2: with Mike on Drew Brees in the last two months
- 8:00Speaker 2: and a big segment with Jeff Duncan on Drew Brees
- 8:04Speaker 2: in the last two much. Can we do enough Drew Brees?
- 8:06Speaker 2: I don't think we can. Going into August eighth, right.
- 8:10Speaker 2: The best player five million miles to ever play for
- 8:14Speaker 2: the New Orleans Saints, first Ballot Hall of Famer Lombardi
- 8:19Speaker 2: Super Bowl, Lombardi Trophy winner Drew Brees nor Land Saints.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And he just wore that number nine. Good well, didn't he?
- 8:26Speaker 3: Oh?
- 8:27Speaker 1: How good? Did it look great?
- 8:29Speaker 2: And when you saw him out on the field, you thought, Oh,
- 8:31Speaker 2: it's time. I hope everybody's ready to go, did y'all?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Y'all remember watching him before the games and all the
- 8:38Speaker 2: stuff he would do crazy his warm up.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yes, give you a sense of calmness. Hey, this is
- 8:47Speaker 1: from tide Bow.
- 8:48Speaker 2: From ninety five to two thousand and five, we would
- 8:50Speaker 2: go to three to four games a year. When I
- 8:53Speaker 2: thought Benson was gonna move to San Antonio, me and
- 8:56Speaker 2: a buddy got season tickets the first week they were available.
- 8:58Speaker 2: In six Brooks was still our quarterback in hassle at
- 9:02Speaker 2: our coach. Best investment I ever made in my life.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I still have the seats today in the plaza level.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Who that Hell?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah, man, you got to see the greatest run, one
- 9:12Speaker 2: of the greatest runs in the history of the NFL,
- 9:14Speaker 2: but greatest run in the history of the Norlan Saints.

- 10:39Speaker 2: Out of Bounds ESPN one oh five nine The zone.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I don't know if Jackson Meadows or Wilkes bounds or
- 10:45Speaker 2: running is running my fantasy football team. I got suckered
- 10:49Speaker 2: in for the thirtieth year to be in the Kessler
- 10:52Speaker 2: Prime Fantasy Football League.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Evidently, last night, and.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I think I'm probably gonna miss the draft, which is
- 11:00Speaker 2: not awesome. That's the only reason why I play, because
- 11:03Speaker 2: I get to smoke a cigar with Scott and have
- 11:06Speaker 2: a beverage and he cooks wings that are really hot
- 11:08Speaker 2: and other people eat them and I get to see
- 11:10Speaker 2: their face go. But then he does all sorts of
- 11:14Speaker 2: other things. It's always good when a steakhouse owner puts
- 11:18Speaker 2: together the charcuterie board for the fantasy football draft. It
- 11:22Speaker 2: kind of works out. It's actually not It's like a
- 11:25Speaker 2: souped up it would be more than that. I don't
- 11:26Speaker 2: know the name.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We are the Out of Bound Show, brought to you
- 11:31Speaker 2: by the Soft Shell Crab and the Rack of Lamb,
- 11:34Speaker 2: which is one of my favorites. Medium Rare kesseloprime dot
- 11:37Speaker 2: com to make a reservation. This is one O five
- 11:40Speaker 2: to nine the zone ESPN you're looking at. I think
- 11:43Speaker 2: about nine days out from Drew Brees being inducted into
- 11:49Speaker 2: the ten Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio,
- 11:53Speaker 2: number nine.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Who wore the you know, the Saints. It also when
- 12:00Speaker 1: and Sean and Drew.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Joined the Saints, but more importantly, they joined the city
- 12:07Speaker 2: of New Orleans in the state of Louisiana.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It was also at a.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Time when the jerseys and the uniforms were becoming so
- 12:16Speaker 2: much cooler. How cool did Drew look? And all the
- 12:21Speaker 2: different the black, the gold, the white, and all the
- 12:25Speaker 2: different color combinations that they use. Now, I know many
- 12:30Speaker 2: of you went down every Sunday for years. I got
- 12:34Speaker 2: to go to a good many games and it was
- 12:37Speaker 2: a ton of fun. You know, I told you I'd
- 12:40Speaker 2: not gone for seven years. I had not gone to
- 12:44Speaker 2: a game.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'd actually been to more.
- 12:47Speaker 2: The first company I went to work for out of
- 12:50Speaker 2: grad school was in Baton Rooge, and the owner of
- 12:53Speaker 2: that company had season tickets to the what were they then,
- 12:57Speaker 2: Jackson In two and two thousand and one.
- 12:59Speaker 1: The NBA team Hornets.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yes, thank you, Chris Paul was there. He became my
- 13:03Speaker 2: favorite player again. I'm I'm a point guard guy. Y'all
- 13:07Speaker 2: have heard me ramble about all the different point guards
- 13:10Speaker 2: that I love and love watching play, from David Rivers
- 13:13Speaker 2: to Isaiah Thomas and many many more, and of course
- 13:17Speaker 2: the ones that have come through here I've been obsessed with.
- 13:22Speaker 2: But you know I went Jackson, Kyle was averaging. I mean,
- 13:27Speaker 2: I went over thirty games. Yeah, I mean I just
- 13:32Speaker 2: went to a ton of NBA. He was always asking
- 13:34Speaker 2: me to go and we would. We were in the
- 13:38Speaker 2: hotel in the condo many of business, so he would
- 13:39Speaker 2: find a hotel owner in New Orleans and we would.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Go and it was fun.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And I thought Chris Paul was amazing watching him play,
- 13:46Speaker 2: because I mean, I really value the guy the number
- 13:49Speaker 2: one the guy who plays the number one position of
- 13:52Speaker 2: the point guard. And then I'm down there doing shows.
- 13:59Speaker 2: A Mississippi company Post Katrina had bought this beautiful piece
- 14:04Speaker 2: of property down in the Warehouse District and they were
- 14:07Speaker 2: actually at that time competing with Donald Trump to get
- 14:11Speaker 2: their kind of minium up before Trump's crew did, which
- 14:17Speaker 2: I think he was like two or three blocks down.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But it was during the revitalization or I'll steal from
- 14:24Speaker 2: Drew Brees the resurrection of New Orleans. And we were
- 14:27Speaker 2: doing shows down there, and I had this idea that
- 14:32Speaker 2: I could go meet with the Two Lane Athletic director
- 14:35Speaker 2: and get their top one hundred donor list for this
- 14:38Speaker 2: Mississippi company that and I thought Two Lane alums will
- 14:41Speaker 2: buy condos on the water in the Warehouse district. This
- 14:44Speaker 2: makes sense and I got a call while I was
- 14:48Speaker 2: doing a show. It was like midafternoon, and I don't
- 14:52Speaker 2: remember what the lineup was then, but I'm this is
- 14:54Speaker 2: when I was still on AM, so I was on
- 14:56Speaker 2: Super Sport nine thirty and before going to FM fifty
- 15:02Speaker 2: thousand watt ESPN in two thousand and nine, So this
- 15:05Speaker 2: is around O six maybe OS.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I don't remember, but I.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Still remember guards and all that, all that stuff down
- 15:13Speaker 2: in New Orleans and sold and I stayed at the
- 15:15Speaker 2: every time I would go down there, I would stay
- 15:17Speaker 2: at the the little groovy artsy Hyatt or whatever hotel
- 15:21Speaker 2: right across the street. It's down there where Lucy's is
- 15:25Speaker 2: is where the Mississippi Company had their piece of property
- 15:30Speaker 2: where they wanted to build their.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Kind of minims.
- 15:33Speaker 2: And I ended up meeting with the athletic director at
- 15:36Speaker 2: Tulane because Archie Manning was kind enough to put me
- 15:39Speaker 2: in with him. His name was Rick and Jackson, if
- 15:41Speaker 2: you'll pull that around six oh seven, super nice guy.
- 15:46Speaker 1: He had just hired Bob Toledo. Toledo.
- 15:49Speaker 2: UCLA had fired probably their most successful coach the last
- 15:54Speaker 2: thirty years.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Dan Guerrero.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Guerrero was really good at this and Rick trick It
- 16:00Speaker 2: or some Dixon Dixon Trickett was an offensive line coach
- 16:03Speaker 2: at Misissippi State in Florida State. Rick Dixon was one
- 16:06Speaker 2: of the nicest guys I've ever been around, and I
- 16:10Speaker 2: have a meeting with him because my parents grew up
- 16:13Speaker 2: and drew Misissippi, and my mom graduated in the same
- 16:16Speaker 2: graduating class as Archie Manning, and my dad used an
- 16:19Speaker 2: attorney and Drew his whole life, my whole life, and
- 16:25Speaker 2: Archie's mom was a secretary. So I knew I wanted
- 16:29Speaker 2: to get to Rick Dixon to get the one hundred,
- 16:32Speaker 2: the top one hundred donor list and for this Mississippi company, right,
- 16:38Speaker 2: and Rick Dixon met me on a summer day. They
- 16:43Speaker 2: had just finished the two lane Baseball stadium, in which
- 16:51Speaker 2: when Katrina hit I think his name was Rick Jones Jackson,
- 16:55Speaker 2: if you'll look look it up, two lane baseball coach.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They were number one in the country the year before. Now,
- 17:02Speaker 2: don't forget that Canazero and Gotro had gone through there
- 17:06Speaker 2: five years before, Gotro being a first round pick for
- 17:09Speaker 2: the New York Yankees, and Canazero was a good player,
- 17:11Speaker 2: and I think they went to the CWS that one year,
- 17:14Speaker 2: but we met in his he had this really cool office.
- 17:21Speaker 2: He's wearing birkenstocks and a golf shirt and shorts.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, this this guy I got.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I like this by he ordered, he ordered launch and
- 17:32Speaker 2: we hang out and I'm I'm asking for all this
- 17:35Speaker 2: stuff and he's on board, which was you know, athletic
- 17:39Speaker 2: directors act like they're they're running the CIA. And then
- 17:43Speaker 2: he took me down on the field and I ran
- 17:45Speaker 2: into what was that guy's name.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Rick Dixon or Rick the other guy that you had it,
- 17:49Speaker 1: Rick Jones.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Okay, I ran into Rick Jones on the turf field
- 17:53Speaker 2: at at Tulane Stadium. That's my memory of kind of
- 17:57Speaker 2: post Katrina, but also Breeze and Peyton. My point in
- 18:01Speaker 2: all that was when I did one of those shows
- 18:04Speaker 2: from that property. One afternoon, the Bank Plus crew called
- 18:08Speaker 2: me and was like, come up to the game.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It was an exhibition gown.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I don't want to go to a Saints exhibition galnt
- 18:12Speaker 2: even want to go to a Saints regular season game.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And they're like, no, no, no, come just come up here
- 18:17Speaker 2: join it. So I'm in the warehouse, sister, all I
- 18:19Speaker 2: had to do is take the back way up to
- 18:21Speaker 2: the Dome. I did, and I kind of caught the
- 18:24Speaker 2: bug again and then they won, Yeah, buddy, and then
- 18:27Speaker 2: the rest is history, as so many of us know.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And number nine led you to the Promised Land and
- 18:33Speaker 2: some of the most amazing memories that you've ever had
- 18:35Speaker 2: in your life period, which is what it's all about.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I mean, everybody wants goose ole. Miss has been going
- 18:40Speaker 2: through this the last few years. Everybody wants goosebumps in
- 18:46Speaker 2: the stadium or in the arena because when you're high
- 18:50Speaker 2: five in your your buddies and you win it wow
- 18:53Speaker 2: and you're winning.
- 18:56Speaker 1: That's what it's all about, all right.
- 19:01Speaker 2: We are the Out of Bound Show ESPN one oh five.
