- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:31Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:36Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get from one full episode
- 0:37Speaker 1: of Disgraceland to the other. The backyard, to dig into
- 0:41Speaker 1: the dirt, our mission to uncover the truth, to confront
- 0:43Speaker 1: the myth, to reclaim the story. On this bonus episode
- 0:46Speaker 1: was a mysterious count responsible for the deaths of Jim
- 0:50Speaker 1: Morrison and Janis Joplin. Who's Gerdo? And the Mary Tyler
- 0:53Speaker 1: Moore Show, What New Song recommendations and more old song
- 0:56Speaker 1: Italian Disco Don't Blame Me? Plus your voicemails, text emails,
- 0:59Speaker 1: calm dms, and as always a whole lot of Rosie.
- 1:02Speaker 1: This is the podcast for the musically obsessed, the outsiders,
- 1:06Speaker 1: the independent thinkers who know that the best history is
- 1:08Speaker 1: the history that gets buried. Disgraceland is where I tell
- 1:11Speaker 1: the stories they didn't want told, the kind you'll end
- 1:13Speaker 1: up telling someone else. All right, this goes. Let's get
- 1:17Speaker 1: into it, all right, disc goes. Listen, my hair is
- 1:31Speaker 1: on fire. This morning, as I'm putting together this after
- 1:33Speaker 1: party bonus episode for you, I woke up thinking about
- 1:37Speaker 1: Taylor Hawkins and the fact that we still don't have
- 1:39Speaker 1: an official cause of death for the iconic drummer, as
- 1:42Speaker 1: discussed in our recent episode on the Foo Fighters. And
- 1:45Speaker 1: so I made myself an espresso, I popped on my
- 1:48Speaker 1: noise canceling headphones, crawled back into bed with my laptop though,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and I googled famous rock stars with unknown causes of death,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and surprise, there are literally none, zilch, not a zero.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But I don't want to beat a dead horse. I
- 2:04Speaker 1: want to beat an entirely different horse, actually horse as
- 2:07Speaker 1: an h as an heroin. So somehow that Google search
- 2:12Speaker 1: that led me into this Jim Morrison wormhole. Now I know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: well trodden territory over here for us at disgrace in
- 2:19Speaker 1: a new horse on a beaten path, so to speak.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But really what I found is fascinating. I think I
- 2:25Speaker 1: knew I think I knew this. I think I knew
- 2:28Speaker 1: that there was never an autopsy for Jim Morrison. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure, I knew that it was close casket,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and that the burial happened super quick after Jim died,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and that his family had little to do with the
- 2:38Speaker 1: final arrangements. And none of these facts are all that
- 2:42Speaker 1: revelatory or shocking on their own, and they're all used
- 2:45Speaker 1: as fodder for the conspiracy theorists who claimed that Jim
- 2:48Speaker 1: Morrison faked his own death, that the heroin overdose never happened,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and that Jim you pretended to off himself so that
- 2:56Speaker 1: he could or pretended to die, I should say, so
- 2:59Speaker 1: that he could live in peace. He's outside of the
- 3:01Speaker 1: glare of fame and retire and live the quiet life
- 3:04Speaker 1: of a poet in the French countryside or whatever, and
- 3:07Speaker 1: no longer have to live the loud, drunk, drug addicted
- 3:09Speaker 1: rock star life that he was living. But here's the thing,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I didn't really realize until now, Or maybe I did
- 3:16Speaker 1: and I just forgot, or I just let this fact
- 3:19Speaker 1: exist in plain sight and I ignored it, or maybe
- 3:21Speaker 1: I just bought the line of bullshit that had been
- 3:22Speaker 1: fed to me, to all of us anyways, until now,
- 3:25Speaker 1: that Jim Morrison died from a heroin overdose. Because here's
- 3:32Speaker 1: the thing. Jim Morrison didn't use heroin, or at least
- 3:36Speaker 1: many of his friends were counted over the years about
- 3:39Speaker 1: how Jim hated the drug and that he actively spoke
- 3:42Speaker 1: out against using heroin in the company of his friends,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and that he hated the fact that his girlfriend Pamela
- 3:48Speaker 1: Corson aka Pamela Morrison she wasn't really his wife common
- 3:52Speaker 1: law wife somehow, sometimes I went by Pamela Corson, sometimes
- 3:55Speaker 1: by Pamela Morrison. I'll probably probably refer to her as
- 3:58Speaker 1: both in the course of this episode. Anyhow, he hated
- 4:01Speaker 1: that his girlfriend pam actively used heroin and that this
- 4:06Speaker 1: was a subject her heroin use was a subject, a
- 4:10Speaker 1: common subject of disagreement between the two between the couple.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This is pretty interesting. So Jim Morrison supposedly dies of
- 4:19Speaker 1: a heroin overdose, but he didn't use heroin. Obviously, this
- 4:23Speaker 1: doesn't prove anything. Doesn't prove that Jim Morrison, I guess,
- 4:28Speaker 1: didn't die from heroin, they didn't take heroin, that they
- 4:30Speaker 1: didn't die into Paris bathtub. Jim Morrison could of course
- 4:33Speaker 1: just tried heroin and died. Of course, his official cause
- 4:36Speaker 1: of death heart failure. The sort of understood to be
- 4:40Speaker 1: cause of death for Jim Morrison heroin overdose, but for
- 4:45Speaker 1: a guy who didn't use heroin anyhow, following this line
- 4:48Speaker 1: of thinking, following this little bit of research I was
- 4:50Speaker 1: doing this morning, if he were to do this, it
- 4:53Speaker 1: would inevitably bring you to a fascinating character from the
- 4:56Speaker 1: late nineteen sixties and early seventies jet set, a friend
- 4:59Speaker 1: not of Morrison's, but of his girlfriend Pam's, and also
- 5:03Speaker 1: a friend of Graham Parsons and a friend of Janis Joplin,
- 5:06Speaker 1: Keith Richards and Marianne Faithful and Miss Mercy from the GTOs,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and a whole lot of other famous rock stars who
- 5:12Speaker 1: regularly used heroin. This guy was their buddy, their pal,
- 5:16Speaker 1: their friend, and some of these folks died from heroin.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That friend was a French aristocrat, an actual count, a
- 5:25Speaker 1: handsome jet setting playboy in his early twenties named damn It, Matt,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I lost your text messages. Okay, this guy's name. I
- 5:32Speaker 1: texted Matt this morning at like seven thirty in the morning.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Because Matt, Matt's French, or at least understands French better
- 5:39Speaker 1: than I do. To get a correct pronunciation, I want
- 5:44Speaker 1: to butcher it here and then Matt, you can you
- 5:46Speaker 1: can correct me. I'm only going to say his name
- 5:47Speaker 1: once or twice here, Count Jean des bruteul bruteul Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 1: the Count, all right, listen, I've read about the Count before.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I nearly forgot about the Count though. Okay, the Count
- 6:01Speaker 1: came up in research for our Jim Morrison season of
- 6:04Speaker 1: The twenty seven Club that we that we produced a
- 6:07Speaker 1: couple of years back, and I made a mental note
- 6:09Speaker 1: to do more research on the Count eventually, which I
- 6:11Speaker 1: never did until now by accident. Now, the Count, the
- 6:15Speaker 1: Count here is shadowy. The Count is glamorous. The Count
- 6:19Speaker 1: is like Jim and Janie and Jim's girlfriend Pam dead.
- 6:23Speaker 1: The Count was also Jim's girlfriend's boyfriend. And the Count
- 6:27Speaker 1: was the supplier of high grade heroin to the stars
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the sixties and the seventies. And the Count may
- 6:33Speaker 1: have not only inadvertently killed Jim Morrison, but also Janis
- 6:37Speaker 1: Joplin as well. So check this out. The Count was
- 6:41Speaker 1: a good looking, rich aristocrat in his early twenties. His
- 6:44Speaker 1: family had a literal fortune. His father's businesses were located
- 6:49Speaker 1: in Africa, so the young Count had diplomatic connections in Morocco.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Morocco in the nineteen sixties was a hotbed of drug trafficking,
- 6:56Speaker 1: specifically the trafficking of hashish and heroin, to drugs that
- 7:00Speaker 1: many many rock stars were hyper fixated on in the
- 7:03Speaker 1: late nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies. Now not only
- 7:07Speaker 1: was the Count tied into diplomats and drug traffickers in Morocco,
- 7:11Speaker 1: he was also, as part of the jet set, tied
- 7:15Speaker 1: into many individuals from the Paris Again he was French
- 7:18Speaker 1: and London. Again, he was a count high societies. Now
- 7:21Speaker 1: in nineteen sixty seven, the Count enrolled at UCLA, all
- 7:26Speaker 1: right in California, in Los Angeles, Okay, But UCLA did
- 7:32Speaker 1: not have access to good drugs at the time, so
- 7:35Speaker 1: the Count fixed that he started moving pounds of hashish
- 7:38Speaker 1: through the Moroccan consulate into Los Angeles to his campus apartment. Now,
- 7:43Speaker 1: the hash and apparently the Count's good looks and money
- 7:46Speaker 1: attracted young women. One of them was a girl named
- 7:49Speaker 1: Pamela Corson. A woman named Pamela Corson, and the two
- 7:52Speaker 1: began seeing each other. And even though pam was seeing
- 7:54Speaker 1: the new singer for the Doors, one of the hottest
- 7:56Speaker 1: bands at the time, his name being, of course, Jim Morrison.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Now Jim hated the Count, and Jim he hated the
- 8:03Speaker 1: Count's heroin. But Pam she dug the Count, and you know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: to be honest, she liked this heroin too. Jim got
- 8:09Speaker 1: drunk and yelled, Pam got high and took off with
- 8:11Speaker 1: the Count Amrrakesh to Europe to hang out with Brian
- 8:14Speaker 1: Jones and Jimmy Hendricks. Pam and the Count would eventually
- 8:17Speaker 1: end up back in Los Angeles, and Pam would end
- 8:19Speaker 1: up back with Jim. But the Count kept slinging his
- 8:22Speaker 1: heroin the whole time, and in the fall of nineteen seventy,
- 8:25Speaker 1: the Count had a particularly strong batch of heroin. He
- 8:28Speaker 1: hooked up his friend Janis Joplin. He also hooked up
- 8:31Speaker 1: a musician named Mercy Fontino. I'm probably pronouncing that incorrectly.
- 8:35Speaker 1: She goes by Miss Mercy. She was from the GTOs, Yes,
- 8:38Speaker 1: Frank Zappa's GTOs. Okay. Miss Mercy felt herself slipping into
- 8:43Speaker 1: a drug coma when she used the Count's heroin, and
- 8:47Speaker 1: somehow she pulled herself out of it and survived this
- 8:50Speaker 1: bad batch. Now, this survival of the Count's bad batch
- 8:53Speaker 1: of Heroin happened on the exact same day that Janis
- 8:58Speaker 1: Joplin did. Not so the Count's bad batch. Okay, On
- 9:04Speaker 1: that day, October fourth, nineteen seventy, the Count hooked up
- 9:07Speaker 1: Janis Chropplin with Heroin, just like he did Miss Mercy
- 9:10Speaker 1: from the GTOs. Miss Mercy survived. Janis Joplin died on
- 9:14Speaker 1: October fourth, nineteen seventy. Miss Mercy lived and she gave
- 9:18Speaker 1: the rest of her batch of Heroin to her friend
- 9:20Speaker 1: Graham Parsons. Somehow Graham survived too, until he didn't in
- 9:23Speaker 1: overdosed and died later in nineteen seventy three. But back
- 9:26Speaker 1: to that weekend in nineteen seventy, the weekend that Janis
- 9:30Speaker 1: Joplin died. Over that weekend, nine other people who weren't
- 9:33Speaker 1: rock stars also died in the Los Angeles area from
- 9:37Speaker 1: heroin overdoses. Jimmy Hendricks had already died that year. Now
- 9:41Speaker 1: Janis Joplin was gone, and Jim Morrison was aware of
- 9:45Speaker 1: all of it. Okay. He was nursing his beer at
- 9:48Speaker 1: Bernie's Beanery in Hollywood, and he told his friends that
- 9:50Speaker 1: they were drinking with Number three. Jim Morrison didn't know it,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but his joke was dead on. Jim had one more
- 9:57Speaker 1: album to deliver to the record label. The album was
- 10:00Speaker 1: Once that album was done, Jim split to Paris to
- 10:03Speaker 1: meet Pam, who was already there hanging out with you
- 10:07Speaker 1: guessed it, the Count. Pam was in bad shape. She
- 10:10Speaker 1: and the Count were consumed with heroin. They were sunk
- 10:13Speaker 1: deep into the Paris underground with a whole assortment of
- 10:16Speaker 1: low life, high class junkies and deadbeats. Paris was drowning
- 10:20Speaker 1: in that French connection, intensely pure heroin, the same heroin
- 10:25Speaker 1: William Freakin would put at the center of his incredible
- 10:27Speaker 1: film The French Connection. This was the heroin that the
- 10:31Speaker 1: Count was dealing, and now the Count was counting Rolling
- 10:35Speaker 1: Stones as his customers, namely Grand Parsons's buddy Keith Richards.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Those two were also in France at the time at Nelcott,
- 10:42Speaker 1: while Keith was hiding out from British tax collectors and
- 10:45Speaker 1: making the Stones heroin induced masterpiece exile on Main Street.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Through his connections with the Rolling Stones, the Count started
- 10:52Speaker 1: seeing Mary Anne Faithful and the two wound up in
- 10:55Speaker 1: Paris in July nineteen seventy one where the Count went
- 10:58Speaker 1: to work slinging that friend connection heroin again in France
- 11:03Speaker 1: at the time in nineteen seventy one, You've got the Count,
- 11:07Speaker 1: Marianne Faithful, Pamela Corson, Jim Morrison, Keith Richards, Grand Parsons,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and the French connection. Now, on the night of July third,
- 11:16Speaker 1: mary Anne Faithful says that she was with the Count
- 11:19Speaker 1: in bed and they got a call in the middle
- 11:21Speaker 1: of the night from Pamela Corson again, Jim Morrison's girlfriend,
- 11:26Speaker 1: who at that moment was freaked out. Pamela absolutely needed
- 11:31Speaker 1: to see the Count, Okay. Now, Maryann Faithful, she was
- 11:35Speaker 1: stoked at this. She was psyched because she wanted to
- 11:37Speaker 1: meet the singer of the Doors. But the Count said
- 11:40Speaker 1: that that wasn't gonna happen and he split to go
- 11:43Speaker 1: rescue pam and he left mary Anne behind because Jim
- 11:48Speaker 1: Morrison was dead from heroin. The Count's heroin, according to
- 11:53Speaker 1: Marianne Faithful, anyways, from heroin that was most definitely yes,
- 11:57Speaker 1: the Count's. But here's the thing. Jim Morrison didn't use
- 12:00Speaker 1: heroin right, right, but he did use cocaine and the
- 12:05Speaker 1: French connection. Heroin was also called cotton candy because of
- 12:09Speaker 1: its light color a lot of heroin depending on how
- 12:12Speaker 1: it's cut, how its process is brown. The French connection
- 12:14Speaker 1: stuff was like a pinkish white. Jim Morrison, according to
- 12:18Speaker 1: those in the know, mistook his girlfriend's heroin for cocaine
- 12:22Speaker 1: and snorted too much of the incredibly pure drug and died.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Jim Morrison's girlfriend, who was also the girlfriend of the
- 12:28Speaker 1: most infamous heroin dealer in the music industry, who himself
- 12:32Speaker 1: the Count, died less than a year later of an overdose.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Maybe some suspect the Count did himself in over his guilt,
- 12:41Speaker 1: other suspect murder. We don't know. I'm looking to find
- 12:44Speaker 1: out sooner or later, though I'm telling you right now. Anyways,
- 12:46Speaker 1: back to our story. Pamela Morrison. She overdosed and died
- 12:49Speaker 1: a couple of years later, a couple of years after
- 12:51Speaker 1: the Count. And nearly everyone connected to this dude, everyone,
- 12:54Speaker 1: nearly everyone connected to the fucking Count guy, Pamela Morrison,
- 12:59Speaker 1: Janis Joplin, Some say Jimmy HENDRICKX, Jim Morrison, Graham Parsons
- 13:02Speaker 1: dead dead dead dead dead Mary unfaithful. She survived, and
- 13:07Speaker 1: she flat out accused her ex the Count of killing
- 13:11Speaker 1: Jim Morrison. The details around Jim Morrison's cause of death
- 13:15Speaker 1: are hazy, just like they are for Taylor Hawkins's death.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Completely different context, of course, but still you can see
- 13:23Speaker 1: some sort of rock and roll historical parallel here. We
- 13:27Speaker 1: don't know, we don't know how Taylor died, and I
- 13:29Speaker 1: don't think we know how Jim died. Really. Officially he
- 13:32Speaker 1: died of heart failure, unofficially of a heroin overdose. But again,
- 13:36Speaker 1: there was no autopsy. Did I say that earlier? I
- 13:38Speaker 1: probably should have. There is no autopsy, and there was
- 13:42Speaker 1: no history of Jim using heroin. There was, in fact,
- 13:45Speaker 1: a history of Jim hating heroin. The story this story,
- 13:51Speaker 1: not just the story of Jim Morrison's death, but the
- 13:54Speaker 1: story of the Count. It is fascinating and it is
- 13:56Speaker 1: coming in a full episode of the Disgrace m podcast soon,
- 14:00Speaker 1: probably in a Doors episode. I did one sat satirical
- 14:03Speaker 1: episode on Jim Morrison. I'm gonna do a Doors episode,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and this is gonna be my angle, and this is
- 14:09Speaker 1: gonna be most of the story, to be perfectly honest,
- 14:12Speaker 1: because this is just the surface and most of what
- 14:14Speaker 1: I just told you, I researched this morning. By researched,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I mean I read one People Magazine article. Incredibly, this
- 14:21Speaker 1: is all everything I just gave you is from a
- 14:23Speaker 1: People magazine article. Pretty much, not everything, but a good
- 14:27Speaker 1: portion of it. There's but there's a ton more out there,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and there's a lot more research I'm gonna do, and
- 14:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna put together an incredible story for you guys
- 14:36Speaker 1: in a full episode of Disgrace Slam that'll be coming
- 14:38Speaker 1: in a couple months. I guess it'll be a Doors episode,
- 14:40Speaker 1: all right. But before that, we're gonna dive a little
- 14:42Speaker 1: bit deeper into the count and more specifically into the
- 14:45Speaker 1: shady details behind Jim Morrison's death and the claims that
- 14:48Speaker 1: he wasn't a heroin user. In today's exclusive episode of
- 14:51Speaker 1: the After Party. Go to disgracelampod dot com. Sign up

- 15:00Speaker 1: a weekly basis. All right, this week in the feed,
- 15:03Speaker 1: as we've been discussing our new episode on the Foo
- 15:06Speaker 1: Fighters now coming up right after this ONUS episode here
- 15:09Speaker 1: right after this in the rewind slot on Sunday, our
- 15:12Speaker 1: episode on b York and the dranged psychopath who wanted
- 15:16Speaker 1: her dead, who attempted to murder the Icelandic princess, who
- 15:19Speaker 1: set off an international scramble by the FBI in New
- 15:22Speaker 1: Scotland yard to save Byorke's life. You don't want to
- 15:25Speaker 1: miss this episode. And then next week on Tuesday, Tuesday
- 15:29Speaker 1: May fifth, we're releasing a new episode on Ian Watkins
- 15:34Speaker 1: for Lost Profits. And when you're listening to that episode,
- 15:39Speaker 1: be thinking about what story from music history has upset
- 15:44Speaker 1: you the most, because this might be it. This might
- 15:47Speaker 1: be the most upsetting story from any rock star we've covered.
- 15:52Speaker 1: This Ian Walkins story is so damn upsetting, not only
- 15:55Speaker 1: because of the horrendous crimes that this lost prophit singer
- 15:59Speaker 1: committed by also because some of these crimes could have
- 16:02Speaker 1: been prevented. So how upset were you when you learned
- 16:06Speaker 1: about the Ian Watkins crimes? But you know it can
- 16:09Speaker 1: be anything. What's the most angered you've ever been, most
- 16:13Speaker 1: angry you've ever been from news that you heard from
- 16:16Speaker 1: music history? Six one seven nine oh six six six
- 16:19Speaker 1: three eight voicemail texts let me know at disgrace lampod
- 16:22Speaker 1: on the Socialist disgrace lampod at gmail dot com. All right, guys,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I want to talk to y'all. I want to hear
- 16:27Speaker 1: your thoughts on Taylor Hawkins and the Foo Fighters and
- 16:30Speaker 1: everything else that we got going on to Disgraceland. Unlikely
- 16:33Speaker 1: cover songs, more music, memoirs, whatever, new songs, old songs.
- 16:37Speaker 1: We're digging into all of it and more with your voicemails, texts, emails,
- 16:40Speaker 1: dms and more coming up right after this. All right,
- 17:02Speaker 1: me and Debbie Harry, we have escaped Ted Bundy'svolkswagen and
- 17:05Speaker 1: we are in the phone booth. It's the one across
- 17:07Speaker 1: the hall. Hanging on the telephone six one seven nine
- 17:09Speaker 1: oh six six six three eight. Beth in the six
- 17:11Speaker 1: four six tell us about one of the Taylor Swift
- 17:14Speaker 1: creeps that you got living in your hometown.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Hey, this is Beth from the six six to two,
- 17:20Speaker 2: originally from the six four to six calling about a
- 17:23Speaker 2: few things. One the scandalous DJ from your Taylor Swift
- 17:28Speaker 2: episode lives in Mississippi and works in the supermarket after
- 17:34Speaker 2: having a failed attempt being a morning DJ show of
- 17:38Speaker 2: conservative talk morning show. He's got a baby now and
- 17:42Speaker 2: is just living a very quiet life.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Also on the.
- 17:46Speaker 2: New York nightlife scene back in the nineties. Bear Jones
- 17:51Speaker 2: used to be this club promoter and you would call
- 17:53Speaker 2: his everybody got a card and you would call the number,
- 17:57Speaker 2: which was a voicemail or an answering machine, and they
- 18:00Speaker 2: would let you know where the party was that night.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And he went on Bear Jones, I think he died
- 18:05Speaker 2: in two thousand and eight, but he went on, I think,
- 18:08Speaker 2: to be a gossip columnist for the Daily News, and
- 18:10Speaker 2: was on the circuit, the media circuit, in the night
- 18:13Speaker 2: life circuit through at least two thousand and six and
- 18:17Speaker 2: more stuff on in Access. I just can't get enough
- 18:21Speaker 2: of it. And thanks for all the good work you
- 18:22Speaker 2: guys do, and stay punk, love it bye all.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Right, Beth, thank you very much, love love the Taylor
- 18:29Speaker 1: Swift recon there, thank you. And in excess. As for
- 18:32Speaker 1: in Excess, we got a two parter a on in Access,
- 18:36Speaker 1: two parts in the archive, parts one and two. Bear
- 18:38Speaker 1: Jones that phone that phone thing you just shared. I
- 18:42Speaker 1: didn't know about this at all, and I was hanging
- 18:44Speaker 1: out in New York in the nineties, assuming nineties is
- 18:47Speaker 1: when you're talking about it. I don't know if you
- 18:48Speaker 1: said that or not, but this reminds me of this
- 18:50Speaker 1: whole Black Keys thing they got going on now. The
- 18:53Speaker 1: record hangs, and I'm not sure how people are getting
- 18:56Speaker 1: invited to that, but this sounds like a good way
- 18:58Speaker 1: to do it. Anyways, I would like to get invited
- 19:00Speaker 1: to one of these, So let me know if anyone
- 19:01Speaker 1: has some Black Keys hook ups, let me know. All right,
- 19:04Speaker 1: let's check out D in Dallas.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Hey, Jake, it's d from Dallas again, and I just
- 19:12Speaker 4: heard you a little blurb at the closing of your
- 19:17Speaker 4: most recent podcasts that I listened to on Disgraced Land,
- 19:21Speaker 4: and you questioned whether or not Billy Gordon had actually
- 19:26Speaker 4: actually seen a shapegister. I one hundred percent agree, and
- 19:33Speaker 4: I have a theory on exactly who it is. I
- 19:38Speaker 4: believe that he actually saw a shapegister, and it's somebody
- 19:43Speaker 4: that we all know. My gift is that it's Maynard.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Last name not required. You know how I'm talking about.
- 19:53Speaker 4: And right now you're thinking to yourself, you know what,
- 19:58Speaker 4: if there are aliens, and Maynard probably is one of them,
- 20:03Speaker 4: along with Trent, probably also an alien to neither one
- 20:10Speaker 4: of them. Age I don't understand, except that like they're
- 20:16Speaker 4: not from this world. None of Tool's music makes sense.
- 20:19Speaker 4: You could show someone on paper and like, hey, this
- 20:21Speaker 4: is it would say no, that that does not work.
- 20:26Speaker 1: But you know why, let's alien d uh shape shifting
- 20:32Speaker 1: into Maynard from Tool, Right, that's what you're saying. And uh,
- 20:39Speaker 1: Trent Reznor as well, I don't know. I don't know
- 20:45Speaker 1: about that. I need more of this Maynard from Tool,
- 20:48Speaker 1: Trent Reznor Alien theory? Do you hit us back? All right,
- 20:51Speaker 1: let's check out. Let's see JC in the six five
- 20:56Speaker 1: to one.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Hey, Jake j C in the six five I have
- 21:00Speaker 5: won Minneapolis Saint Paul Lucky Longtime Disco was lucky enough
- 21:04Speaker 5: to find you guys. In January twenty nineteen, I tell
- 21:07Speaker 5: everybody I know about your shows.
- 21:09Speaker 2: You asked about a stranger peculiar.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Unlikely cover song. I'm gonna nominate Whosker Dude doing Love
- 21:16Speaker 5: is all around the theme of the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
- 21:19Speaker 5: They even did it on the Today Show. Oh there's
- 21:21Speaker 5: a film, you can go find it. Hey. Lastly, I'm
- 21:25Speaker 5: been a big fan of lot of your shows. You
- 21:28Speaker 5: turned me on. We've done some discussion about Manson and
- 21:31Speaker 5: chaos and all that. I think you should package up
- 21:34Speaker 5: all your Manson episodes that we you do with Beetles, Stones, etc.
- 21:37Speaker 5: I think that'd work out great man, Hey, thanks for everything.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Who's Kerdoo and Mary Tyler Moore? I didn't know this.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I did not know. This is Mary Tyler Moore set
- 21:48Speaker 1: in Minneapolis. That would make sense. That would make sense.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I like your idea about packaging all of our Manson
- 21:54Speaker 1: episodes together. For those who don't know, we had this
- 21:57Speaker 1: long history with the Helter Skelter story here Gray Santa.
- 22:00Speaker 1: All the new listeners started way back and I don't
- 22:03Speaker 1: know season two or three or something like that, maybe four,
- 22:06Speaker 1: when we did the Beach Boys episodes, which is the
- 22:08Speaker 1: traditional Helter Skelter story that you may have probably heard.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It's one of the biggest true crime books of all time,
- 22:16Speaker 1: and the connection to the Beach Boys Dennis Wilson gave
- 22:19Speaker 1: us our in later. A couple of years after that,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I realized that Helter Skelter had it all wrong, and
- 22:26Speaker 1: therefore I had it all wrong. We released a couple
- 22:28Speaker 1: other episodes that are updates. We did a Charles Manson
- 22:32Speaker 1: episode based on the music that he made and his
- 22:36Speaker 1: life and how it related to the killings, and we
- 22:38Speaker 1: did a two parter on Mama cass Elliott because she
- 22:42Speaker 1: was intimately involved with the players who get swept up
- 22:47Speaker 1: in and around the Helter Skelter story and what I
- 22:49Speaker 1: believe is the truth that disrupts the Helter Skelter story.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So anyways, there's about what four or five and then
- 22:56Speaker 1: if you count the Sharon Tate hollywood Land episodes we've done,
- 22:58Speaker 1: there's probably about seven Manson related episodes that we've done.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And I like JC in the sixty five ones suggestion
- 23:04Speaker 1: about packaging them all together. Maybe we'll do that, I
- 23:07Speaker 1: don't know, maybe make a nice little, uh animated book
- 23:12Speaker 1: or something. I don't know. All right, let's go to
- 23:15Speaker 1: the five to three.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I don't know what you just said, but all of
- 23:18Speaker 3: a sudden, I feel nostalgia for micro machines.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Just kidding, I got all the legal stuff.
- 23:23Speaker 3: This is actually in reference to my very first listen
- 23:28Speaker 3: of hollywood Land long time just Graceland listener. This is
- 23:31Speaker 3: my first hollywood Land listen with Sigourney Weaver and then
- 23:35Speaker 3: the after show and I just my heart fluttered when
- 23:41Speaker 3: Bob from Twin Peaks was mentioned, because he is just
- 23:46Speaker 3: the absolute my hands are shaking right now.
- 23:48Speaker 2: He is so scary.
- 23:51Speaker 3: And that scene where he's crawling over the back of
- 23:53Speaker 3: the couch these there's nothing scarier. There's no blood, gore,
- 23:58Speaker 3: tense scene in movies that are like suspend anything. Nothing
- 24:03Speaker 3: is this terrifying?
- 24:03Speaker 2: Is that moment when.
- 24:04Speaker 3: He's creeping over that fucking joke?
- 24:07Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I just was really happy to hear somebody else was
- 24:11Speaker 3: traumatized by Bob as well.
- 24:13Speaker 5: So rock rolla.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's what you say, right see that people be like
- 24:18Speaker 1: the five oh three. Check out Hollywood Land. Get in there,
- 24:22Speaker 1: get in there, and get after it. You will not
- 24:24Speaker 1: be disappointed. Okay, there's a whole other world of content
- 24:28Speaker 1: happening in the Hollywood Land feed right now. That is
- 24:31Speaker 1: Disgraceland adjacent. It's Hollywood and true crime. It's not music
- 24:35Speaker 1: and true crime. You're not going to be disappointed. Be
- 24:37Speaker 1: like the five oh three, six one seven nine oh
- 24:39Speaker 1: six six six three. You guys want to leave me
- 24:41Speaker 1: a voicemail. I want to hear about the most disturbed
- 24:44Speaker 1: news you've ever heard from music history, the most upset
- 24:47Speaker 1: that any news, or any research or any story from
- 24:50Speaker 1: the world of music has made you. Six one seven
- 24:52Speaker 1: nine h sixty sixty sixty three. I don't want to
- 24:54Speaker 1: get into that next week with you, but in the meantime,
- 24:56Speaker 1: let's do some text. Let's talk about this week's episode
- 24:58Speaker 1: on the Foo Fighters, This one from the seven seven eight,
- 25:02Speaker 1: who writes in, hey, just listen to the Foods Hawkins
- 25:05Speaker 1: Grol episode. I never connected the dots together about insurance battles,
- 25:09Speaker 1: but regarding the lack of an official cause of death,
- 25:12Speaker 1: this explains everything. And yeah, looking now at a whole
- 25:16Speaker 1: different wave of Gen X drummers who have quit or
- 25:18Speaker 1: taken hiatus to deal with health. Wow, mind blown. I
- 25:22Speaker 1: think this is my favorite episode so far, and the
- 25:24Speaker 1: first time I felt compelled to text thanks for all
- 25:27Speaker 1: you do. Thank you seven seven eight. I appreciate the
- 25:29Speaker 1: kind words, appreciate the nice message. But with the nice
- 25:33Speaker 1: you got to take the not so nice as well.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So let's go to the nine to one seven nine
- 25:37Speaker 1: one seven writes in, and here we are listen here
- 25:40Speaker 1: it goes nine one seven. You don't want to hear
- 25:42Speaker 1: about Dave Grohl's problems. I don't want to hear a
- 25:44Speaker 1: hypocrite who lied to everyone by putting on a persona
- 25:47Speaker 1: that is not truthful. The audacity to only apologize because
- 25:51Speaker 1: he got caught shows that he doesn't give a shit
- 25:53Speaker 1: about being faithful to his family. He only cares that
- 25:56Speaker 1: his carefully crafted image has been ousted as fake to
- 25:59Speaker 1: its core. What a great example to the already fucked
- 26:03Speaker 1: up manisphere. You are sucking his dick. This entire episode,
- 26:07Speaker 1: like what he did is just personal family issues. No,
- 26:11Speaker 1: it's uncovering decades of lies. He is now not only
- 26:14Speaker 1: a piece of shit rock star that sleeps around with
- 26:17Speaker 1: young women while having a family which consists of only women,
- 26:20Speaker 1: but he now depicts a guy with questionable morals willing
- 26:23Speaker 1: to lie for his own benefit if he can easily
- 26:25Speaker 1: lie about having an affair to only show remorse once
- 26:28Speaker 1: word got out, What else about his image is he
- 26:31Speaker 1: feeding us as a quote genuine connection with a genuine
- 26:34Speaker 1: nice guy unquote is bullshit? Just made up to sell
- 26:38Speaker 1: more records, stay relevant, make the maximum profit. It goes
- 26:42Speaker 1: against everything Kurt Cobaine and Ravana stood for a legacy
- 26:45Speaker 1: his modern day persona depends on to stay standing on
- 26:49Speaker 1: the shoulders of giants. Love the show by the way,
- 26:55Speaker 1: I love the way the nine to one seven ends
- 26:57Speaker 1: it there, and I love the passion. Listen, I get it,
- 27:00Speaker 1: I really truly do. I'm not sucking his dick, though.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Come on, man, that's that's a little harsh. I addressed
- 27:06Speaker 1: all the issues with Dave Grohl. I might not have
- 27:09Speaker 1: the same take you have. Here's the thing is thatth
- 27:13Speaker 1: and I talked about this in more detail in the
- 27:15Speaker 1: exclusive section of this after party coming up. You gotta
- 27:18Speaker 1: be an all access member for that. But for those
- 27:20Speaker 1: who aren't, I'm gonna I'll address it here too, a
- 27:22Speaker 1: little bit not and not so much detail. Honestly, when
- 27:25Speaker 1: the news of Dave Grohl's infidelity broke, I was pissed,
- 27:29Speaker 1: and my wife and I were talking about it, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: I was really I was really upset, much much more
- 27:35Speaker 1: upset than you would think by listening to the way
- 27:40Speaker 1: I spoke about it in the episode, and my wife
- 27:44Speaker 1: and I were talking about this and the reason this
- 27:47Speaker 1: one was so upsetting, and maybe this is this is
- 27:51Speaker 1: why the Texter is so upset, is because Dave grole.
- 27:56Speaker 1: At least for me, I don't want I don't want
- 27:58Speaker 1: to I don't want to presume this is why the
- 27:59Speaker 1: time was upset. I take that back, but at least
- 28:02Speaker 1: for me and for my wife and for a lot
- 28:04Speaker 1: of people I know, Dave Grohl's like one of us.
- 28:08Speaker 1: He's roughly our age, comes from the same scene that
- 28:10Speaker 1: we come from, the hardcore scene, nineties gen X, and
- 28:15Speaker 1: he's he really when he started to come out, step
- 28:19Speaker 1: out into the spotlight and he was doing all these
- 28:21Speaker 1: interviews and the Food Fighters first launch, he was just
- 28:25Speaker 1: ultra real, ultra charismatic in a lot of ways. I
- 28:29Speaker 1: don't mean to glorify, you know, a rock star here,
- 28:33Speaker 1: but he was. He was like the best version of us.
- 28:35Speaker 1: He was funnier than us, he was more talented than us,
- 28:37Speaker 1: he was more charismatic, you know what I'm saying, And
- 28:40Speaker 1: he just he spoke like we did, and he seemed
- 28:43Speaker 1: to like the same things and care about the same
- 28:45Speaker 1: things that we did. And he sort of carried a
- 28:46Speaker 1: version of that of that personality, that persona with him
- 28:52Speaker 1: the entire run of the Foo Fighters. And yeah, I
- 28:54Speaker 1: know there's people who are up there it's all an act.
- 28:56Speaker 1: He's full of shit. He's never been a nice I
- 28:58Speaker 1: don't buy that. I know people who know him, know
- 29:00Speaker 1: people who who know him well, I know people who
- 29:04Speaker 1: have have met him just you know, one offs etcetera.
- 29:07Speaker 1: And they all say the same thing, that he really
- 29:09Speaker 1: is a great guy. I've never met him, but anyways,
- 29:12Speaker 1: it just stung. It just hit. It just it hit
- 29:14Speaker 1: more than now to the caller's criticism, the texters criticism,
- 29:17Speaker 1: which is it's valid, I didn't express a lot of
- 29:22Speaker 1: the anger that I felt in the full episode. You
- 29:25Speaker 1: might have heard it back in some of the disgrace
- 29:27Speaker 1: and after party episodes when it when this news broke,
- 29:31Speaker 1: but in the full episode this week, I did not.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I did not express my anger toward Dave in that moment.
- 29:38Speaker 1: And here's why we talk about rock stars every single
- 29:43Speaker 1: week that are that that have infidelity in their life,
- 29:47Speaker 1: that are shitty in relationships to their wives, and and
- 29:51Speaker 1: oftentimes we don't even mention it. And yeah, that's on me.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's my job, I guess to bring this stuff up.
- 29:59Speaker 1: But it's so common in the music industry, cheating on
- 30:03Speaker 1: your wife, cheating on your girl. What, It's so fucking common.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It's just boring. It's like, yeah, no shit. So I
- 30:09Speaker 1: didn't want to be entirely hypocritical about it. And even
- 30:14Speaker 1: though it upset me, I didn't want to just dive
- 30:17Speaker 1: into it. Now if Dave girl operated in a really
- 30:20Speaker 1: different way. Maybe I would have treated this differently, but
- 30:24Speaker 1: he does seem Look, he's with his wife, they're trying
- 30:27Speaker 1: to work it out, you know what I mean. And
- 30:29Speaker 1: I didn't get into this to be all fucking tabloidy
- 30:31Speaker 1: and sensationally and all that shit like that's not what
- 30:33Speaker 1: I do. Like it comes up, it comes up, we'll
- 30:36Speaker 1: deal with it. And this is a really interesting not interesting.
- 30:38Speaker 1: This is a really not interesting, I should say, uh
- 30:42Speaker 1: example of this, and it's it is I thought of,
- 30:45Speaker 1: you know, what would his daughter? What do his daughters
- 30:47Speaker 1: think about this? Some dude on a microphone like op
- 30:49Speaker 1: hining on Dave Grohl's infidelity with their mom. And it's
- 30:53Speaker 1: finally whatever, it's all out there. You can go elsewhere
- 30:56Speaker 1: to get it. I do get your criticism, but that's
- 30:58Speaker 1: just my point of you on how I treated this situation.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Take it as you will. All right, Let's go to
- 31:05Speaker 1: the nine to two on the same subject. Listen, the
- 31:10Speaker 1: opinions from the listeners here are not necessarily my own,
- 31:15Speaker 1: and I'm not suggesting that they are, and they're solely
- 31:18Speaker 1: the opinions of the texters and the callers. Okay, let's
- 31:25Speaker 1: see here. Nine O two says, hey, love the show
- 31:27Speaker 1: bias up front. I'm a big Foos fan, But regarding
- 31:31Speaker 1: the Rolling Stone article, the text was talking about the
- 31:34Speaker 1: Rolling Stone article that I mentioned in the episode. Unlike
- 31:36Speaker 1: a lot of fans, I didn't really find it that scandalous.
- 31:39Speaker 1: It had some interesting insight, and I've always thought it
- 31:41Speaker 1: very possible that no one was lying. I think Taylor
- 31:45Speaker 1: did vent to his friends and probably even talk to Dave,
- 31:49Speaker 1: but he and Dave were best friends. If they needed
- 31:51Speaker 1: to talk, they probably didn't have an official meeting with
- 31:53Speaker 1: management to formally express concerns. They probably just talked, and
- 31:57Speaker 1: who knows what they did or didn't agree to. So
- 32:00Speaker 1: the timeline I think is important. Taylor collapsed on the
- 32:02Speaker 1: plane in December twenty twenty one, and it seems like
- 32:04Speaker 1: Chad and Matt that's Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers
- 32:07Speaker 1: and Matt Cameron from Pearl Jam's Soundgarden. We're saying that he,
- 32:11Speaker 1: Taylor and Dave Grohl talked after that. This is all
- 32:14Speaker 1: in the article, okay, and I'm just going to say
- 32:17Speaker 1: it here. Dave Grohl's management denies this, Okay, they deny
- 32:22Speaker 1: what Chad and Matt had said, all right, the caller
- 32:25Speaker 1: is saying. This caller goes on to say, at that
- 32:27Speaker 1: point in twenty twenty two, after Taylor Hawkins collapsed on
- 32:30Speaker 1: a plane in December twenty twenty one, tour dates were
- 32:33Speaker 1: already announced and tickets were sold. And Taylor was a
- 32:35Speaker 1: consuming professional, and I don't think he would have been
- 32:37Speaker 1: down with canceling already scheduled shows. If they Taylor and
- 32:40Speaker 1: Dave agreed to something, it most likely would have gone
- 32:43Speaker 1: into effect after those existing commitments. I also think it's
- 32:45Speaker 1: possible Taylor was not aware if he had something seriously
- 32:49Speaker 1: medically wrong with him, because I do not believe that
- 32:51Speaker 1: if he said to Dave, we have so down or
- 32:54Speaker 1: I could die, the Dave would have taken that lightly.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Taylor could have downplayed it accidentally or on purpose, even
- 32:59Speaker 1: if he did know. I agree with you here. I'm
- 33:02Speaker 1: not saying that Dave grol knew Taylor Hawkins was in
- 33:05Speaker 1: some sort of medical decline, health decline, what have you?
- 33:09Speaker 1: And Dave was like, you must play these shows, damn you.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I don't think that's what was going on. Coler was
- 33:14Speaker 1: on to say, I'll also say the Foo Fighters had
- 33:16Speaker 1: in recent years started factoring their age into their schedule.
- 33:19Speaker 1: They played a lot, but only went out for two
- 33:21Speaker 1: to three weeks at a time before taking a two
- 33:23Speaker 1: to four week break, and they had to stop playing
- 33:25Speaker 1: consecutive nights, which you can see if you look into
- 33:27Speaker 1: their past tour dates. Anyway, I really like your thoughts
- 33:30Speaker 1: about entering uncharted territory with rock bands, and the insurance
- 33:33Speaker 1: angle is a good one interesting episode. The band has
- 33:35Speaker 1: just started dipping their toes back into talking about difficult
- 33:38Speaker 1: subjects lately, so maybe at some point we'll learn more.
- 33:41Speaker 1: That's from the nine oh two. Appreciate you nine oh two.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I agree a lot. I agree with a lot of
- 33:46Speaker 1: what you're saying here, and I just want to state
- 33:49Speaker 1: that again, Taylor's depiction, as voiced in that Rolling Stone
- 33:56Speaker 1: article of the events with Dave Grohl around his workload
- 34:02Speaker 1: with the food Fighters, as depicted in the Rolling Stone
- 34:05Speaker 1: article by Chad Smith and Mack Cameron, are adamantly denied
- 34:10Speaker 1: by food fighters and food Fighters management. So there we
- 34:14Speaker 1: go two seven zero rights And hey, Jake, this is
- 34:16Speaker 1: Kate from the two seven zero here in western Kentucky,
- 34:20Speaker 1: having worked in healthcare and varying positions from pharmacy to billing,
- 34:24Speaker 1: to urgent care to dispatch. I honestly think that the
- 34:27Speaker 1: combination of over exertion, perhaps not being fully transparent with
- 34:31Speaker 1: his doctor about any non prescription drug usage, self medication
- 34:35Speaker 1: with prescription medications, and probably an underlying undiagnosed genetic factor,
- 34:40Speaker 1: that that is the official cause of death for Taylor Hawkins.
- 34:43Speaker 1: It's likely listed as natural causes, maybe death by misadventure
- 34:47Speaker 1: with underlying causes, but it's been covered up to keep
- 34:50Speaker 1: the insurance company from refusing to pay. The insurance company
- 34:53Speaker 1: is the biggest villain in the whole story. That's who
- 34:56Speaker 1: will refuse to pay out on death if they can
- 34:58Speaker 1: find a loophole. So nothing nefarious, just an attempt to
- 35:02Speaker 1: make sure insurance actually pays. Anyway, that's my nearly four
- 35:04Speaker 1: am thought, working Overnights and Ambulance Dispatch, Rock a rolla
- 35:08Speaker 1: Baby two seven zero. Appreciate you. You know what's up?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Six four six real quick? Hey, hope you're doing well.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I was wondering if you're interested in maybe doing a
- 35:18Speaker 1: Donnie Hathaway show six four six. We are where we were,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I should say, because we did. There's a Donnie Hathaway
- 35:24Speaker 1: episode in the archive for you guys. Thanks for your calls,
- 35:27Speaker 1: Thanks for your text six one seven nine oh six
- 35:29Speaker 1: six six three eight. You guys want to come at
- 35:31Speaker 1: me with this week's question of the week on the
- 35:34Speaker 1: event from music history that just pissed you off the most,
- 35:37Speaker 1: that's what we want to know. Six one seven nine
- 35:39Speaker 1: oh six six six three eight. Get at us. You
- 35:41Speaker 1: might hear yourself on next week's after party. I'll be
- 35:43Speaker 1: back right after this with your emails, DMS and some
- 35:46Speaker 1: music in perhaps the television recommendation. All right, we are back.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us in another after party. Man, you
- 36:06Speaker 1: know we just this cool thing just happened. I'm in
- 36:09Speaker 1: the middle of recording and Chad from Canada called. People
- 36:14Speaker 1: don't usually call when I'm recording. I have a bank
- 36:18Speaker 1: of voicemails and texts that accumulate that I just go
- 36:21Speaker 1: in and I grab and I play. The phone just
- 36:25Speaker 1: started ringing. It's not actually a phone. I mean, it
- 36:27Speaker 1: is a phone, but it's online. I don't know how
- 36:30Speaker 1: to answer it, and I figured it out and I
- 36:31Speaker 1: just started talking to this guy, Chad, and all of
- 36:33Speaker 1: a sudden, I was recording a phone call. Our conversation.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It was all cool, it's all great, and then my
- 36:37Speaker 1: fucking pro tools just died. Chad, I was planning on
- 36:44Speaker 1: playing the whole thing. Dude, call us back. Maybe we'll
- 36:49Speaker 1: figure out a way to do this live. That'd be fun,
- 36:51Speaker 1: wouldn't it take the calls live. I could get into that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I could get into that. I suppose I'd have to
- 36:57Speaker 1: tell you at what time I'm recording. I record on Wednesdays,
- 37:00Speaker 1: Eastern Standard Time, usually in the usually in the late mornings,
- 37:07Speaker 1: recording a little later today. Anyways, six one seven nine
- 37:10Speaker 1: oh six six six three eight, you want to leave
- 37:12Speaker 1: me a voicemallion, I want to send me a text.
- 37:14Speaker 1: We're back and I want to real quick. I want
- 37:16Speaker 1: to talk. I want to play a little new song,
- 37:18Speaker 1: old song. Okay. The new song of the week that
- 37:20Speaker 1: I'm recommending is might See You There from Weird Nightmare.
- 37:24Speaker 1: This is the Mets Dude, me Etz, That Mets Alex
- 37:29Speaker 1: Atkins again, me Etz, not the eighty six me Ets
- 37:34Speaker 1: who broke my heart in campine Win these days. Anyways,
- 37:37Speaker 1: I dig this tune by Weird Nightmare from the Mets
- 37:40Speaker 1: Dude again. It's called might See You There comes highly
- 37:43Speaker 1: recommended from our friend Brett from MEF and Good Music.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Brett has great taste. I listen to everything that he
- 37:47Speaker 1: sends me anyway. Might see you there by. Weird Nightmare,
- 37:51Speaker 1: modern rock pop alt, kind of Lemons, lemonhead Z, kind
- 37:57Speaker 1: of Blake baby Z, kind of eighties nineties Boston college
- 38:01Speaker 1: rocky is what I'm saying, and I highly recommend it.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Old song recommendation for this week. I Need You Tonight
- 38:07Speaker 1: by Punkin Machine. Okay, not in excess, Yes, punkin Machine,
- 38:13Speaker 1: p U n ki n punkin Machine. I'm back on
- 38:17Speaker 1: my eighties Italian disco bullshit. Here, guys find disco guitars
- 38:21Speaker 1: that sound better than the disco guitars in this track
- 38:25Speaker 1: that weren't recorded by Nile Rodgers. Okay, this shit rules
- 38:29Speaker 1: and it will improve your springtime vibes immeasurably. I Need
- 38:33Speaker 1: You Tonight by Punkin Machine. My eight year old asked,
- 38:36Speaker 1: how does he get his voice to sound like that? Dad?
- 38:38Speaker 1: And I wanted to say cocaine, but I didn't. But
- 38:39Speaker 1: now you know a little bit more about how awesome
- 38:42Speaker 1: this song sounds. All right, Disgray Sam pod at gmail
- 38:45Speaker 1: dot com on the email machine. This one comes from
- 38:47Speaker 1: Tyler Whitmore suggestion for rewind episodes. I like the pod
- 38:51Speaker 1: and started listening back when you did the My Favorite
- 38:54Speaker 1: Murder crossover. Glad that you landed with exactly right media.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I hadn't listened in a minute, as I think I
- 39:00Speaker 1: wasn't subscribed between some earlier seasons. And my suggestion is
- 39:04Speaker 1: that if you are releasing an episode or mixing in
- 39:07Speaker 1: rewind episodes per week, it might be useful to label
- 39:10Speaker 1: them as rewinds it maybe provide any updates to the
- 39:14Speaker 1: story if any exists. This is the format that My
- 39:16Speaker 1: Favorite Murder uses, and I think it's pretty nice. I
- 39:19Speaker 1: was slightly confused because I was listening to that Selena
- 39:22Speaker 1: episode and thought it was a new episode as it
- 39:25Speaker 1: was a recent release. But I read the description and
- 39:28Speaker 1: it says released November twenty twenty. Also in that episode
- 39:32Speaker 1: they mentioned that there was a parole hearing set for
- 39:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, so it would have been cool after
- 39:37Speaker 1: the episode if you gave an update. Now. I understand
- 39:39Speaker 1: if you don't want to copy what My Favorite Murder
- 39:42Speaker 1: is doing, or if you have your own system, but
- 39:43Speaker 1: I think other listeners would enjoy this. Thank you for
- 39:46Speaker 1: listening all right. That comes from Uh who did I
- 39:48Speaker 1: say that come from? Came from Taylor Whitmore. Taylor, I
- 39:55Speaker 1: love your suggestion. I love it so much. We're gonna
- 39:59Speaker 1: do it all right from now on, starting this Sunday,
- 40:03Speaker 1: there will be a parenthetical in the title of each
- 40:06Speaker 1: of the Rewind episodes that says rewind and it should
- 40:10Speaker 1: be clear to everybody that this is a previously released
- 40:13Speaker 1: piece of content. That doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to it. People, Okay,
- 40:16Speaker 1: our shit is evergreen, all right, So make sure just
- 40:20Speaker 1: because we're putting Rewind in there, you're not being like,
- 40:22Speaker 1: I don't need to listen to this and came up.
- 40:23Speaker 1: But no, no, I don't care if you heard that
- 40:27Speaker 1: Byork episode back when it was released. It's coming again
- 40:31Speaker 1: and you should listen to it this weekend. You're not
- 40:32Speaker 1: going to be disappointed. And Taylor, to your point on
- 40:35Speaker 1: the updates, I never thought of that, but uh yeah,
- 40:39Speaker 1: we'll figure out a way to do that. We'll figure
- 40:40Speaker 1: out a way. I'll figure out a way. I'll probably
- 40:43Speaker 1: talk to Karen and Georgia see how they do it,
- 40:45Speaker 1: and see how they get themselves ready for any of
- 40:47Speaker 1: the updating, and we'll incorporate that into our rewind releases
- 40:51Speaker 1: as well. Thank you for the suggestion. Julio Escovar right saying, Hey,
- 40:55Speaker 1: Jake or whoever checks the email. My name is Julio
- 40:58Speaker 1: Sesar Escovar. I'm a journalist with over twenty years of experience,
- 41:02Speaker 1: and I was the director of a rock radio station
- 41:05Speaker 1: in Colombia when Taylor Hawkins died. Plus I was at
- 41:08Speaker 1: the festival Estero Picnic waiting for them to perform when
- 41:11Speaker 1: we all saw the announcement on the Food's Instagram account.
- 41:14Speaker 1: It all was very chaotic, with little or any information
- 41:18Speaker 1: at all, and we did a special broadcast from Estero
- 41:20Speaker 1: Picnic with some of the attendees who were at the festival.
- 41:23Speaker 1: People in Colombia love the Foo Fighters, so it is
- 41:26Speaker 1: a moment in history that we will always remember. I
- 41:29Speaker 1: just wanted to let you know that I agree with
- 41:30Speaker 1: everything you said in the FOOS episode on Taylor's death.
- 41:33Speaker 1: All the best, Julio c ESCOVARPS. I'm a big, big
- 41:36Speaker 1: fan of Disgraceland. Julio, thank you very much. I appreciate
- 41:40Speaker 1: the perspective from Columbia from somebody who was there when
- 41:42Speaker 1: this happened, and I know that the listeners appreciate it
- 41:46Speaker 1: as well. Disgracelampod at gmail dot com. Guys, you want
- 41:50Speaker 1: to get at me via email at disgracelam pod. On
- 41:52Speaker 1: the socials over on Instagram, James Buckley writes in Unexpected
- 41:58Speaker 1: Covers a most excellent push Mode narrative Jake, as far
- 42:02Speaker 1: as Unexpected Covers, Tori Amos taking on Slayer's Raining Blood
- 42:06Speaker 1: was definitely a hard hit in the left field. All
- 42:09Speaker 1: the best, James Buckley. Damn man, I've never heard that.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I've never heard Tori Amos doing Slayer. That's just incredible, incredible.
- 42:20Speaker 1: I was listening to Cornflake earlier other day. I think
- 42:22Speaker 1: as one of you guys recommended it. I'm not sure

- 43:22Speaker 1: Nepo babies, but we're doing some recommendations of From my standpoint,
- 43:28Speaker 1: away was great music by and this is all kicked
- 43:31Speaker 1: off by the Drew Barrymore stuff, great music from musicians,
- 43:35Speaker 1: from the parents of famous people basically, and I had
- 43:39Speaker 1: a couple of good ones in there. And then Zeth
- 43:40Speaker 1: gave us some film recommendations again from quote unquote Nepple babies,
- 43:44Speaker 1: and we talk about why we hate that term. In

- 46:08Speaker 1: that ties them all together like you do. And well
- 46:10Speaker 1: that's a disgrace, all right. On July fourth, nineteen ninety four,
