- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Hello there, long time no talk.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: It's Megan with the Glomes Method Podcast.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, do we have a lot going on?
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: It's a big secret though, so I can't talk about it yet, but things are happening in our family.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And um I just wanted to give a little update on things that have been kind of lighting me up.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So around this time of year, last year, I found this amazing podcast and book called Calm Christmas by Beth Kempton.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And she's British, she's got the lovely, sweet little voice.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And um, I think she started it in 2020.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: And I am not sure.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Right now I'm I'm listening to 2023, so it's just really um I like to listen to it like right before I go to bed.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And um one thing, you know, that happens with Christmas with me anyway, um, it just like comes up so fast.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And I've wanted to do things, you know, to really celebrate, really feel the Christmas spirit, and um a lot of times I miss it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: So listening to this podcast has me being, you know, really intentional.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Another different thing that's happening this year for us is um my parents have moved permanently to Arizona, so they will be coming into town for six days.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And um they, you know, I talked to my mom and she, you know, was hoping, you know, she'd have good time with the grandkids and um, of course, her kids and her in-laws because she loves both of them.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: But um, so I got to thinking and I reached out to my brother and his wife, and we planned some things that I'm super excited about.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna uh do cookie baking one day, and then uh there's this place in the next state over, which is it's like probably not even an hour away, but it's called Sam's Christmas Village, I think.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: And they have these s'mores cabins, and I heard about this a couple years ago.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: You know, it pops up on Facebook people going to it, but you can rent this cabin for like four to five hours, and it's like a cozy cabin, and then there's bonfires outside, and they have s'mores kits, they have a Christmas market, and they have Christmas lights, like you can walk the Christmas lights, but um, so we're gonna do that with my parents, and I'm so excited for that.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: So um, I'll have maybe a Christmas um recap on the podcast.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Um, another thing that Beth talks about in her calm Christmas is like don't say like I want the perfect Christmas.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Think of like an adjective.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Like, do you want a calm Christmas?
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Do you want like a busy, exciting, fun Christmas?
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And um, I thought I want a nostalgic Christmas.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: So, you know, doing things that maybe we did as kids or, you know, back in the 80s.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think we might actually go to church at the church we went to growing up.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Um and I don't know, I'm gonna think about some other kind of nostalgic things that I could weave into um that Christmas break, but it's got me really excited.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And um, it's been great.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So I highly recommend that podcast.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: And uh there's a book too.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: It's nice to read the book, but I'm just like she talks about she's got like recipes, she's got crafts you can do, she's got um uh you know, she always has like a poem or like a little story, or and it's just like so cozy, and I think I want like a cozy Christmas too.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and so speaking of cozy, in one week I am going to a very intimate small retreat called Gathered, and it's going to be in New Jersey, um, Jersey Shore basically.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: I've never been there, but um I'm so excited and um uh it will be really fun.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: I'm looking forward to like the connection, and it's basically just entrepreneurs, women that um I've met through um just various communities and groups that I've been in, and um we've never met in person, but you know, we've talked, sent voice notes, um attended similar like virtual events, and um I've never done a retreat, so I am super excited about that.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And then um this week I have been doing a uh like free online class with a woman named Alyssa Nobriga, and she is just lovely.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I've known about her for a couple years, and I've just um seen her as like um a guest on different podcasts.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I didn't even know she had her own podcast, but um she's doing uh a um five-day and actually she just added two days of uh training, and she's just so um, she's a psychotherapist, first of all, and she has done some live coaching on the uh training, which is so cool to see.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And actually I've been doing it, she's been walking us through some of it, but a lot of it is um when we have like uh I don't know, um like a block or just like a icky feeling about something, or we're feeling um, excuse me.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, just like more of like a negative feeling about something, or like when you were feeling like yesterday we did a little exercise.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Think about a time when you were feeling really insecure.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: And she talks about how important it is not to get into the story, and I think that's where we we get stuck as we get into the story and we just replay the story.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: She has you get into the feeling, so you feel that feeling, she doesn't necessarily need to know what the situation was, and you just kind of breathe into that feeling and you welcome that feeling and you allow it, and as you welcome it and feel it, and it is like so crazy, it just kind of moves through your body and sort of dissipates, and you just feel like you listened to your body instead of avoiding it.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I think a lot of times when we have things happen or trauma, big T, little T, um, mostly little T, but uh I think we're we get stuck in the story.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: I think we um don't like the way we feel, so we avoid it, and then um it is affects us and everything we do from then on.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And so um in our and we use our minds to remember that story, that feeling, and then we think it's gonna happen again, or we you know, we try to avoid it so much that we have trouble growing and and um moving forward.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: And so it's really interesting to me.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I touched on this in in one um episode, but I didn't really connect the two.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Like when I was talking about wild animals, like if they're chased by you know, like a tiger and they survive, um, their bodies go through this um process of just like shaking, and um, you know, and that's their body's way of processing out that trauma that they just experienced.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Um, actually, my daughter and I were at an apple orchard a few weeks ago, and there was a tornado that was there, I don't remember, maybe like five, ten years before, and they had pictures and like stories, and it said that all the animals in the farm were okay, like they physically they were okay, but for like two days they didn't make a peep, and they were like sh their bodies were shaking, and it was like they were you know getting through that trauma, so it's just so interesting to me.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: And um, so she t talks about that, and then um one thing that we went into yesterday is just not relying on or not having to use social media to promote your business, and you know, because it it's like sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: It doesn't really like you really have to like get an audience that trusts you for a long time before you know anybody really works with you.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Um, so she talks about how you don't even have to do that.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Like she started her business without social media and she gave some really good ideas.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Really excited to try some of these out.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Um, and um, you know, get my message out there and try to introduce people to breath work and just it it's really exciting.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: So, and then we have other exciting news, but I can't talk about it yet.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And I think that is about it.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to do an update, let you know that I am still here.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: We're just uh you know cozying up for winter over here, and we're doing a lot of decluttering, which feels so good.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and next door, can I just say it is like the best thing ever.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Like, we have just been like taking stuff out, putting it on our the end of our driveway or yard, and I take a picture, put it on next door, say free stuff, and people just trickle around, trickle through, they grab things.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, we have gotten rid of so much junk.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Um, well, it's not junk because um, you know, it's obviously just stuff that we don't need.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And rather than throwing it away and filling the landfill, I love the idea of somebody taking it and using it.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: So anywho, that's about all I got.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Um, if you like this podcast, please review, share.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I know this is just kind of a random episode, but um I'll get more into content uh in, you know, I've got a lot going on.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: So it might be in the new year where we really ramp up again with um good juicy content.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: But um I hope that you guys are doing really well and that you will check out the Calm Christmas and tell me what you think.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Uh and maybe even message me and let me know what you guys are doing for the holidays.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Um, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Um, what traditions do you carry forth in your family?
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And what new ones are you gonna make?
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Okay, take care.
